Great teacher! Really nice! Very helpful!
Great addition to the business school staff
She is awesome!!! First time teaching this course but she is really good at it.
The best at UB no doubt
Very helpful and interesting prof. She is a genuinely nice person so she is always willing to help you with any questions at all. Definitely recommend her for any courses she teaches
Such a nice lady......extremely helpful and very caring. Definitely wants to see everyone succeed. Was her first time teaching this course but did an amazing job ----DEFINITELY recommend her!

great prof get her
excellent professor she is very helpful and relates to students i really cant say anything bad about her make sure you get her for accounting
She is a great teacher. She really wants everyone to succeed. As long as you stay on top of things you can definatly get an A.
Really didn't like Anderson. She moves extremely fast through the material. Hard to follow along. Then again, maybe it's not her fault. A nice person, willing to help you out. Was the only choice for 201 when I took it, so pretty much stuck with her. Does give practice tests online which help. Actual tests are challenging, but not impossible.
Well what else can you say..if u goto the lectures and do the home work you could get an A in this class and prof.Anderson is the Best..she is an excellent teacher and is very clear and very helpful..home work problems represent the quizes and exams are directly from the material she taught..take MGA201/02 with her
Go to most of the lectures and ALL the recitations. She gives great notes and tests on the materials in her notes and what's on the review. If you are a poor test-taker, the recitation quizzes will really help your grade. Try to get Poppenberg or Feltz as your TA, they're both great and so easy to work with.
Accounting is difficult in general. As a student who doesnt like to study much, it helps with the practice tests and eveything else posted online. Get Poppenberg he is the man.
She gives the class in the best way possible... it's a lot of work but at least you understand it after. Good, organized teacher.
Anderson is the best of the best. Accounting is going to be difficult if you don't keep up with the material. Read the book, do the homework, go to class, and see your rec. teacher if you have any questions, and you should get an A or B. She gives out practice tests, which are JUST LIKE her actual exams.
She's a very, very nice person. A good professor too. However, after taking this course from another SUNY school before I transferred here (UB is making me retake Accounting 1&2), she didn't teach Accounting as well as another Accounting professor I've had before. You HAVE to attend all classes and do all homework in this course to pass.
She was the best teacher she explained everything well. I wish that she was the only one who taught a business class. She is an American and she can speak english unlike the other buisness teachers that i have had.
very helpful
awesome teacher.. go to all classesa and practice few sums daily and u'll get an A
Prof. Anderson is one of the better business professors. She is very clear, direct and explains everything in class. This class is NOT an easy A but if you keep up with the reading and homework and study for the tests, you will be fine.
Prof Anderson is very clear in her teachings, and very helpful to students before and after class. Always happy to teach. The class requires a moderate amount of reading and studying in order to get an A, if you don't study however, you will easily fail.
Anderson is an awesome professor and her lectures are interesting and helpful. Lectures are highly recommended to learn the material. Nothing is overly difficult if you practice the material every week. Be prepared to do a lot of work or do not take the course. This is a business prereq, too. Workload includes: 3 mid terms, Comp Final, quiz weekly.
She is the BEST. she is the best prof at UB for accounts. Take her right away. Her teaching is really nice and she makes sure everthing is clear. Her exams are average. Quizzes r easy.
The course is a ton of work. She seems to break it down and make it seem easier than it is. Tests are fair and quizzes are easy. She really wants her students to succeed. She is very approachable and willing to help.
Anderson is awesome, very helpful along with her TA's. Class is a heavy workload but she is able to break it down.If you read, attend class and recitation and keep up with the hw you will be more than fine. Best teacher for this subject.
Professor Anderson is the best Accounting 201 in UB. She is really helpful answers all your questions and makes sure that everyone gets the material. Only take Accounting 201 with her
professor anderson almost exclusively teaches from her power point slides during lecture, which are also posted on her ublearns website. if you follow the slides, you should do well. class helps, but i still did pretty well skipping classes here and there.
she gives good clear lectures and follows the book very closely.
Not such a great professor but you'll be fine with her. The course is easy to follow & so is she. I like the format of the course ... it is very well laid out but students need to be attentive to extract any value from the course
Amazing Teacher, Very Helpful, Actually Has Accounting Experience...Used to work for M&T Bank, Breaks it down so its easy to follow, Class is very well Layed out
Shes probably one of the best teacher I can ever have. Take her!!
10 easy quizzes in recitation. 2 exams and a final. She's very clear and the TA did a good job explaining some of the more difficult concepts. Not a bad class for accounting.
She is a good teacher, and is really willing to take her time and help during her office hours. I didn't do well in her class, and retook accounting and did very well, but she deserves credit as a good teacher, just not the easiest.
The class is hard but not because she is a bad teacher, she is a very good teacher. You have to say on task and not fall behind or your grade will suffer. Do good on the quizzes and study the practice tests.
This woman is possibly the best professor at UB, hands down.
Very good professer, makes class fun. Tests are fair, but if you do the homework, practice problems, and review your quizzes you should be fine. Class is very straight forward but you should read the text before class to better understand. Recitation quiz every week, unless there is a test, then recitation is canceled.
course is hard, but she is a good easily understandable teacher. she has powerpoint notes, along with review chapter notes and gives solutions to the homework problems. total of three exams, all are fair. she's easy to talk to and will help with anything. also includes 10 quizzes and a comprehensive problem. overall good teacher
Professor Anderson knows her stuff, she has real experience... shell go out of her way for you... use her office hours... Cengage Now (where you do your homework is very helpful and makes it easy) tests are kind of challenging but shes a great teacher
She is very nice, her lectures and extra notes are very helpful. The quizzes and homework make up the exams. Overall her class is very bearable if you keep up the work.
Good teacher for MGA 201, she cares and wants you to suceed
There are three tests including the mandatory final. Tests have 15 multiple choice and 2 long answer, and the final has 30 multiple choice and 2 long answer. She tells you what will be on the (usually) weekly quiz (about 2 problems)and is very clear. Show up to class and study, and you'll be fine.
Crystal clear teacher. Tests are extremely straight foward. Questions are similar (sometimes copied) from the practice tests. Quizes are really easy and are sometimes questions for the tests.Marking is very fair. Slides are good, but can be misleading.(specif. on closing Purchases & COGS) Made me interested in Accounting.(thought it's a snoozefest)
Probably the best teacher I have ever had. She's very nice, always willing to answer questions, and knows what shes talking about. She's a great teacher.
Easy exams,just like old exams.
This class has convinced me to concentrate in accounting. Anderson is straight-forward, enthusiastic, and will help anyone succeed. Maley is an excellent TA. Highly recommend him as well.
The first day I thought she was gonna be a hardass but she is actually very nice and very easy to understand. Even with 800 some students she grades in a reasonable amount of time and is always willing to ask questions,
She was very fun in class and very easy to understand. She is very clear and class is not manditory but thats the only way to learn. She is one of the best teachers at ub yet and I would highly reccomend her class.
She is a great teacher. Recitation is mandatory, weekly quizzes which the TAs go over right before they administer it. Exams are very similar to provided practice exams...lecture is optional but I recommend going
She is amazing. keeps everything straight forward and gives you every opportuity to do well. Class is difficult but she helps to make it managable.
The overall difficulty of the class is hard. BUT, going to classes and doing the homework is a surefire way of achieving a good grade. She is very helpful, and my TA-Matt Clouden was just as good if not better help than she was.
Good teacher...tough class. If you really pay attention though and try your best to keep interested you can do well in this class. It is really easy to fall behind in her class because it is so difficult. She practically tells you what to study for the short answer problems on the tests.
gorgeous! lol... go to class- does examples- makes online homeworks easy. nice.. multiple choice was not too easy on tests.. she was super nice!!!
She was very knowledgable about what she was teaching. Quizzes are given every week in recitation but it actually works to your advantage cus they are easy (as long as u went to lecture) and bring up your grade. Tests are difficult but fair, definately need to spend a few days studying before.
She's awesome. Very helpful and clear. Do the work (it's repetitive but helpful) and also read the text (useful and easy to read), and you'll do well.
One of my best teachers ever. The course in general is a bit difficult but she makes it much easier to get through. Go to lecture and make sure you keep up and you'll be fine. Don't fall behind, and if you do, she's always willing to help in office hours. Gives great examples and explains thoroughly. Wonderful teacher!
She is great.. Class information interesting because of her.
She was a great teacher. Drops the lowest 2 grades on our homework and quizzes. Gives review sessions before tests, and practice exams, as well as what is going to be on each test. Highly recommend her!
Here's the breakdown. The class average was a C, which is what i got. Homework is weekly, time consuming, online, but... fairly easy. The teacher was great, it was just the material that was a little difficult. Great teacher. Fair grading system. I would recommend her. Just be prepared to study the material.
Great instructor - teaches TO the students rather than AT them. It's a shame the rest of the accounting department isn't more like her.
Genuinely nice person , Cares about her students. She Has a warm personality which actually made a cold , square class like accountancy seem nicer. Tests are more concept based than rote memorization so if you take genuine interest you should do well. Would definately recommend
At first I was nervous taking the course after hearing how difficult the course is, but Anderson make accounting real easy to understand. She's a wonderful professor. Definitely would recommend her!
She was super nice and everything was perfectly explained with many examples. If you read the chapter each week you will be fine. The homework is alot of work but it pays off to actually do it.
Professor Anderson is very passionate about Accounting. She is so cheerful and positive and you can often times catch her outside the classroom before class starts talking to students. She answers all questions proposed during lecture and makes the dull appeal of accounting seem a lot less painful. She is one of the best professors I've had.
She is a fantastic teacher. Very time consuming course. She uses something from McGrawhill called Connect, and it is very helpful. some tricky questions on her tests, but if you simply do the review quizzes on Connect the tests are simple. Choose her for next semester if you're reading this, shes hot too :)
Great teacher and a fair teacher as well. The quizzes in her class are right off the material from that week and the homework. Her notes are very good. If you just pay attention or copy the notes and spend the time to review them you will be fine
Helpful and willing to work with students. Material will come off as confusing, and she could do a better job explaining, but she is always willing to help you understand.
Professor explains everything well. Very easy A
Overall good class. The tests weren't too bad and the quizzes were generally easy. The final exam was a little challenging but overall I enjoyed the class.
Fantastic professor, which is lucky because I believe she is the only MGA 201 instructor at UB. Does a great job of explaining the logic behind concepts. Uses plenty of illuminating examples. Makes expectations crystal clear. I had zero interest in accounting before the course, but now think about it and how it affects my life constantly.

The best teacher I've ever had at UB. Period.
She's an awesome professor, one of my favorites. Take her suggestions seriously, read the textbook before class and do the assignments.
Class is difficult. The exams are hard and the final is even harder. There were so many problems with the online homework it was stupid.
Never attended class and still got an A. Just read the textbook, or at least just keep practicing the homework until you completely understand it, and you'll be fine. The homework website can be faulty, so if you think you did a problem right and it tells you you're wrong, just send her a message and she'll clear everything up.
This lady is forever my favorite professor. I took her for MGA 201 and MGI. She's so kind and cares for her students and has a great sense of fashion! Sometimes class can be very boring and can be tempting to not go. Easy A, attend class and pay attention in order to get an A on her exams.
What a pleasant class and a great teacher. What can be a very boring subject, I enjoyed coming to class and the participating the discussions they started. 2 Tests (55 multiple choice then omit 5), 4 short assignments, 3 short mini cases, peer evaluations and class participation make up your grade.
First few weeks seem like a breeze and she tries tricking you with an easy formula saying dont be scared its the hardest formula in the class! WRONG gets much trickier and lectures put you to sleep. HW is annoying to do and practice tests are sometimes opposites of what the real test is!!! Not enjoyable. Doesnt explain whats on the test in class.
Prof Anderson is great! Lectures are only on Mon and Weds for 50 mins - then REC is on that Friday for 50 mins. Quizzes are given every week in Rec which are fair. Exams are also Fair. I would recommend going to class and doing the homework. I used the text for harder material. She is VERY CLEAR, and VERY SWEET. I wished she taught 202!
Weekly homework assignments and weekly quizzes in recitation. The HW usually took me about 6 hours to get a 100 on because she doesn't really explain in recitation. That amount of work helped me do well on quizzes. Studied a week before the test and got a B on the first one and an A- on the second. Final was the hardest test ever which got me a B.
Muriel's lectures are pretty basic. To be very honest, I think I learned more from the online platform (McGraw Hill Connect) than from her. Weekly assignments include 20 LearnSmarts due on Mondays, 100pt quizzes due on Fridays, In-recitation 10 pt quizzes on Fridays, and three exams. Overall an easy class. Know the first couple lectures!!!
I somehow managed to get B+ in this class, while my roommate and friend got A. Professor Anderson is decent instructor who explains quite well and goes through some of the HW. Her TAs were really good so I often went to TA's office to get perfect score on online HW. Except final exams were not hard, so if you do good enough before final
Pro: Professor Anderson is nice and prefessional. She explained things clearly and the lecture is fairly easy. Con: Makesure you choose group member wisely! slackers and people who don't speak English well can hurt your. The group project requires a good amount of work if you have to do it alone!!!!!
Professional
Professor Anderson is a champ. Her class is entertaining as well as informative, which is completely necessary when you're learning starter-level accounting.
This class was really easy and Prof. Anderson was a big reason why. Her lectures are exactly like the textbook but she explains everything clearly. I read every chapter of the textbook (accounting major) but there's no way to fail if you read it. The TA's are great too. This is a simple class if you put in the work.
This class was a roller coaster. First there's weekly quizzes which are hard. There's also really long homeworks due everyweek(will take 2+hours). And on top of that there's also assignments due before class everyweek online. Try to take any other professor. The midterm and final are also really hard even after studying and paying attention.
The final is worth 45% of your grade and its a joke. I studied all the chapters extensively but my roommate did better because he studied the practice exam. The practice exam was essentially the same thing as the final. So do your HW, take your quizzed and its an easy A.
Anderson was a great professor and I fully respect her for what she does. She's very nice, and definitely willing to help a student out if they are struggling. She gives practice exams for the midterm and final. Threw a curve ball for the final by making it very difficult, with no curve. Otherwise, a very good professor.
Expect weekly quizzes and homeworks. The good news is that she drops the 3 lowest grades for both. Going to her office hours as well as TA office hours was very helpful in understanding the material.
One of the easiest class i ever took. She gives you all the resources you need to excel in the class. Reviewing the hw and quizzes are a great way to study for the exams. I would love to have her again.
Amaziinnnnnnnng professor! By far one of the best. Yes the material was difficult at first and very time consuming but she makes lectures easy to pay attention too and goes out of her way during the lectures to make sure everyone understands it. Midterm was fair but final was a bit overwhelming..
This is the longest 1 hour and 20 minute class I have ever taken. She is one of the easiest graders I have ever had but the material is so repetitive. It's a mandatory class for HR concentrations so if you are looking for an easy grade, take it with her but it'll be a long semester... Trust me!
Amazing professor. She is so helpful, explains things great, and is so friendly in office hours. Also, the TAs for this course are very helpful
10/10 would take again for a higher level course
Final too hard to get a high grade, wasted tons of time to work on but the result is not worth it. Feel so OVERWHELMED
super hard final
She is a great professor and from the very first day lets you know how her class works. LS every Monday, practice questions Wednesday, and homework due Fridays along with a quiz every week during recitations. Do all these and keep up with the material and i promise you will get an A. Mid term and a Final. Study a little and its a piece of cake!
Textbook required. Easy lectures, allows a cheat sheet on exams. Cases are easy.
Very hard class. Homeworks will legit take hours to do, every week. By far the most time consuming class at UB. Lectures are also very boring. There are quizzes every week in recitation which are very hard. I wish I took it somewhere else or with a different prof.
If you are awake and attend lectures, you will do fine. My TA went over everything we needed to know before we took our quizzes in recitation. The material can be challenging, but between the TAs and the tutors in the ULCC, you should be able to do well easily.
Honestly though, she just read off slides. Does not really teach stuffs, her TAs do. I spent 2-3 hours every Thursday nights to do her homework. Her midterm and finals are 30% and 40% worth your grades so you better go to her lectures.
Professor Anderson is great at explaining things and that's why I recommend going to class however the book and posted lecture slides are just as good. I retained more when I read the chapter before class. This has a ton of homework that wasn't too hard (if you understand the material) just very time consuming. There is a midterm and hard final.
Professor Anderson was the best I've ever had at UB. Homework can be difficult and time consuming, but doing it will reinforce that you know the material. Midterm wasn't too hard, but the final was harder due to the material becoming more difficult. The tests are fair, put the effort in and you'll do fine.
It is a super easy class as long as you study the test book. The professor is supportive if you do not read the test book since she just simply read the contents copied from the test book. I have never spent over 2 hours in the homework . Easy midterm and a relatively hard final exam. The recitation is really helpful though.
Solid professor. Homework can be time consuming and long but it reinforces the lecture. Quizzes every Friday but the TA usually goes over the material that's going to be on that quiz. Attendance not mandatory but I advise you go as she goes into depth of the material although off the slides. Midterm 30 % final 40% study for them and you'll be ok
Great class. Great professor. Pay attention and you'll do fine.
Prof. A was the best professor I had in UB. She's a real gem. I waited for the past semester to be in her class as it's only offered in spring. Nevertheless, I'm thankful that she became my professor. Whatelse can you ask? Accounting and HR prof, what a perfect combo. I wish I had her in my accounting classes. Greatly recommended.
THE BEST professor at UB.
Great Professor
Prof. Anderson is a sweetheart. She sets you up to do well, but it is up to you to put the work in. She tells you exactly what will be on the recitation quizzes and gives you useful practice problems for the midterm/final. Spend a few hours each week reading the chapter/doing homework/reviewing and you'll do fine. You will struggle if you're lazy
Professor Anderson is a sweetheart to say the least. That being said, this class will be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT if you don't stay up to date. READ THE TEXTBOOK, and try to do the homework by yourself. Homework will take 2-3 hours but you can go to her office hours after to check the answers and ask any questions. Easy weekly quizzes and a HARD final.
I took Anderson for MGA201 during the Fall 2018 semester. I think she is one of the best professors I've had so far during my time at UB. She explains things thoroughly and if you have questions, it's easy to contact her. However, the homework is LONG and will take several hours every week to complete! The homework will prepare you for the exams.
This is a difficult class but she does a great job teaching it. She uses Power Point notes for lecture that are accessible to you throughout the semester. Hws are time consuming, but if you do the work you'll learn everything you need to know for the exams and quizzes. It's a class worth taking. Do the work and you'll succeed!
Professor Anderson is very excellent. She is funny, explains things clearly, and is very reasonable in her expectations of students. Highly recommend for HR!
Lectures are interesting and fun. Prof. Anderson is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about HR. I would have received an A if I didn't forget to do some homework and studied more, but this class is an easy A.
Honestly, I wasn't going to write a review, but I'm really aggravated. I worked so hard on this course, 3-4 hours of homework every Thursday night, took notes in recitation, and by the end of the semester I had a B. Took the final and my grade went down to a D+. The fact the final is worth 45% is just ridiculous. This is not how real life works.
She was a funny professor and thoroughly explained the material. I felt I had a good grasp on most the concepts yet the way the exams are worded make it difficult. 45% of ur grade is ur final which sucks because my grade went down significantly (63). huge curve though. make sure u do all hws and do well on the quizzes to do what u can for ur grade
Great professor! Although there are lots of Connect assignments, if you do them, you guaranteed a good grade in the class. Her lectures are great because they clarify any confusion on the homework and she tells you exactly what will be on the quizzes. Make sure you study and master the first 5 or so chapters and it will help you a lot for the rest.
I mean there were good days and bad with her class but u get what u put in I feel the grading criteria was a little unbalanced but was generally fair a good solid pick if you dont have a favorite professor for this subject yet and she seemed like a nice lady just dont talk in class lol
For the PMBA class, and given that coronavirus made the second half of the semester all online, this class required a lot of work. Muriel knows accounting is everyone's least favorite subject, but she truly tries to help you understand it. The quizzes and tests ended up being open notes since they were online after spring break, which helped me.
Absolutely TERRIBLE. Never hated a class or a professor more. Stopped showing up to lectures because she was so boring, it was better to spend the time napping and teach myself later. Got a solid 47 on the final and still ended with a B- because everyone else did bad as well. Take this class at a CC instead - you won't regret it (or hate your life)
Professor Anderson is a great teacher! Although the lectures can be dry, you have to remember it's accounting.... not riveting stuff to begin with. As long as you watch the lectures, read the textbook and do the connect homework every week, you'll be fine. She is organized and lays out what you should be doing each week to succeed.
TextBook will be your best friend, there's a reading every week thats due the Monday before that lecture content is introduced in class, during lecture she just goes over what you read. Quizzes, homeworks every week. Recitation attendance is mandatory for extra points. Practice problems for exams are helpful as well as quiz results.
Took this course online due to covid. Got 90s and 100s on all homeworks, but the exams and weekly quizzes screwed me over. Studying for the final? all she gives you is a practice exam, and NOTHING from it is in the final. Dont understand something? Dont bother emailing her or a TA because they will not respond. Terribly organized & worse online.
Pass if you treat MGA 201 seriously.
I think prof Mural is the most organized professor youll find at UB. She has everything all set and her lectures are always great. 10/10. Connect assignments, quizzes, hws, recitation, exams, and lectures ensures that youll do great in the course if you put the time in. It was a challenging and best course this Fall 2020 sem.
She was a very chill professor. I would recommend reading the textbook and then watching the lecture. It's not a hard class if you read the textbook and practice the questions on Connect.
Super friendly and charismatic. Very good introduction into accounting and super knowledgeable on the material.
Not an easy class but she's so organized and uses lectures to support the text perfectly. Any additional questions, she responds promptly to emails. The final was worth 27.5% which is a bit much since it's cumulative but using Smartbooks is a big help for the quizzes. Participation is 5% and does make a difference. Great class. Learned a lot.
She just reads off lecture slides, learn nothing extra in recitation. If you want to learn you have to go to her office hours at 8am Monday before the lectures even start for the week. She seems nice but its basically teaching yourself through the homework/ textbook reading. You literally teach yourself its all up to you.
You have quizzes and homework every week. The TAs go over the material before they give you the quiz. She read mostly from the slides during lectures making doing the homework hard. You need to get connect for weekly homework. overall not bad, but the class itself is a lot of material to take in for the first time.
The TAs are very helpful and Professor Anderson is kind and understanding, her love and passion for accounting is infectious. There are lots of assignments but its very manageable if you give yourself time, and TAs will help you with hw if you go to office hours. The reviews before quizzes are a life saver.
Shes literally the best. Her classes are not mandatory. She has the best TAs ever. I never went to her class only went to the recitation. The TAs legit carried this class. The reviews before the quizzes is a lifesaver. Easy class if you do all your hw and go to recitation. Easy 10 min Quizzes every week in recitation. Logan youre the best!!!!
This is a tough course but its mainly due to content. Professor Anderson teaches the material very clearly and gives opportunities to seek help if needed. I attended office hours a lot and was able to seek help from the very knowledgeable TAs! I highly recommend taking this course with Professor Anderson and I would take the course again!
Her class set up, you would think that it was easy. The midterm and final exam were awful. The class average was a 70 which is a little ridiculous. So do the homeworks and the smartbooks and make sure u get a 100 so that the tests you can afford to lose points.
Great professor, great class. She cares about her students and her material. I didn't expect to enjoy Accounting. The class workload isn't easy but as long as you put in the work and understand the material you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting an A.
This course is frustrating. The HW is disconnected from the quizzes and exams and does little to prepare you for her midterm or final. Although we had lectures, lots of financial statement reviews, and countless hours of homework, it was all minutely helpful for actually succeeding on the exams. Worst prof I've had in grad school, hands down.
This class wouldn't be difficult if there were actual lectures and the quizzes/exams weren't completely composed of trick questions. Every single question I got incorrect, all semester, was an edge case question with a slight deviation from the HW examples. To succeed, you basically have to spend an additional 3-4 hrs/wk in the OPTIONAL smart book.
Professor Anderson is an awesome professor, she knows Accounting, and has an amazing ability to demystify and teach it. It was a pleasure taking her class. I lover her, and was one of my best experiences to date at UB
She is a good professor and she takes the time to go over stuff in class. However, her exam was quite difficult and the weekly homework as well. In addition, the quizzes were ridiculous because of the 10 minute time limit. Overall, a lot of work in her class but she is a decent professor.
