If you have to take Chem 10, definitely take from her. By far the best and most fair teacher. If it weren't for the TONS of extra credit she hands out, I wouldn't have the high A that I have. She's also hilarious, so she makes chemistry seem fun.

Her class is never boring, her notes are organized. She is tough, demands 120%. Clear, but tests are very hard! Her teaching goes beyond the scope of Chem 10, but prepares you for Chem 11. Not helpful, plays favorites. Go to office hour to be noticed.

Prof. Waugh is a great teacher! The material is very hard, but she breaks it down into digestable parts and gives us every opportunity to come to her with questions and concerns. She makes an otherwise dry subject fun and interesting. We always have fun in her class.

If you will have to continue in chemistry, take her. She teaches in a way that you learn. She also gives helpful examples in class. However, her tests are hard, and sometimes surprising, therefore you will have to study a lot. The good thing: she will give extra credit to boost your grade.Recommende

prof. walker has a big passion for chem - many other professors can learn from her. lots of quizes, exams, lab reports and online HW- and a lot of extra credit - do it all and you will do fine - its an easy class anyway...

This teacher is funny and awsome. She gives extra credit, and collects HW. Her tests are ok just study well as you need to anyway(it's Chem). She is so sweet and is the best and easiest teacher for Chem. 10. I really recomend her to everybody, also she gives very good notes.

this teacher is great if you have to go on to other chemistry classes. she makes sure you know info other chem 10 classes don't have to learn, they get chemical formulas on their tests, while you memorize everything! althought her test and quizes are very hard.

Wow..where do I ever begin? This teacher is honestly one of the toughest chem teachers I've ever seen! Luckily though she is the type of teacher who wants you to do well and will help you however she can. But be ready to work harder than you ever have before!

She is nice, but super hard. Very confuse about class instructions, but pretty clear lectures. No partial creadits will be given, no matter how. Questions are tricky, fat and juicy. The webassignment is very confuse.ex.chapter 12 question maybe not from chap 12, they might from chap. 13 or 11.

The webassigns are extremely hard and took me away from my actual learning and studying. Go over the book before doing the webassigns. Extremely helpful if you have questions. Don't piss her off

Excellent teacher. She loves her job and you can see that. Unfortunately, like many good teachers they like for the student to know the subject matter in and out, so her tests are hard. Reading the chapter before she lectures on it is very helpful. If you make it through her class you'll walk out feeling accomplished.

i didn't think SHE was a hard teacher but rather was teaching difficult material. i got an A and DID study a lot but not to an uncomfortable degree like others were saying. i never went to the LRC, never went to her office hours. her lectures were SO helpful and fun, she's really silly to keep you interested. i recommend her for sure.

Very funny and engaging, very mothering and a bit fussy. Class theme: ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE THROUGH STRUGGLE, and you will struggle if you don't know chem! LOADS of homework/practice probs, and hers are very difficult, but you'll know your stuff when it's over! Lots of opportunities for extra credit; if class does poorly, she may redo quizzes.

was excellent, i did not know any chem, i did not take it in highschool, i worked about 30hrs/week while taking her class, was enrolled 12 units and i still got a B. the people that dont like her, dont put in the time and fuss and complain about ever point on test and quizzes. TAKE HER,she'll take care of you.

class's full of fun. chem 10 material,itself,is not that hard. but! on the test in her class, you'll see that you need tobe able to apply what you learned from textbook and lecture. and final exam was just 'hard'. but,although all these hardness, i think that she's fair grader. if u really spend time on this class, u'll end up with A.

OSSUM professor! inspirational!!, caring, knowledgeable, very personable, easy to talk to/approach for help ( academic or non ) not necessarily very challenging but material lands well

She is the best Chem teacher in SMC! True she is un-organized but she knows what she teaches in n out! She expects alot from her students! The book doesnt really help so you have to do the Web Assigns and Attend every lecture cuz the tests are nothing like the book questions. Her tests n quizzes seem to be like chem 11 tests, so be prepared to earn ur grade in this intense course with her!

Professor Waugh was incredible. She made me love chem. She is extremely helpful, but make sure to go to her office hours. She gives a web assignment every wk (that's the hardest part of the class i think)..gives bonus..just know that it's not an easy A, you really have to work for it..she's not too easy, but it is def possible to get an A

I was really dreading this class, but it was a requirement for me. Fortunately I got Professor Waugh as my teacher. She made chemistry really fun and interesting. It's funny how a good teacher can completely change your mind about a subject. Take her class. She's brilliant, and very funny, too. Never a dull moment when she's teaching.

this teacher is out to proove how smart she is. she gave three finals. lab final, dept standard final and her extremely hard final. the fact the the dept has a set of guidelines and even a test should negate her need to give her own final. shes on a mission. oh and she thinks she can control you

Prof. Waugh is very caring and wants you to pass her class. Overall Chemistry is not that easy, but she makes it easy by making sure that you understand it. The book is a little helpful, so if you work the problems on the book and don't miss lecture often you'll do good. The final is similar to her 1994 final posted on her website.

she's a really good teacher

Prof. Waugh is a very student-friendly teacher, but her style of teaching is a little stressful. She goes over everything very fast in class and then gives assignments where the material is not covered in class or the book. The book is AWFUL, better to get a copy of the Burns Chem book as most of her lectures and the web assignments seem to match.

She is very a helpful teacher if you work the way that she wants you to work you will get a good grade.she is not gone continue teaching before making sure every body understand the old topics. Highly recomended

The most entertaining science teacher i have ever had. i never wanted to catcha z in her class. She takes every assignment personal and it makes you not want to disappoint her. take her class you'll win in chem 11. You gotta do the work though. she gives no slack

The type of teacher that gets you frustrated due to the volume of work that's asked for. However, her dedication along motivation outweighs this small pain. Positive energy then flows through the classroom and makes one truly appreciate the idea to "struggle for the acquisition for knowledge." Science majors, you are in good hands with Mama Waugh!!

Definitely a challenging class, but I feel that she really prepared me for the next level. I wouldn't take her class if you don't have an interest in chemistry. But if you do, she's an interesting, and helpful teacher.

If you are a serious student, and want to learn, this is absolutely the best professor I've ever had. She spends time with you if you need it, but she expects a ton back from you. If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. But Mama Waugh WILL teach you, and if you put in the effort, you'll love her!

By far one of the best college professors I have ever had. She seems genuinely concerned about your learning, is very helpful, and expects a lot from you. She's tough, but an awesome teacher. She gives out a lot of work but it pays off in the end. You will actually learn the subject rather than just memorize it short term.

Professor Waugh is one of my favorite teachers to date. She makes everything simple and doesnt "beat you up about it" She is available almost anytime. She makes the tests simple. the Labs are always fun and exciting. I didnt like chem until i started this class. shes great.

very good teacher, really really prepares you for chem 11. But you have to keep up with the class and stay on top of your work, if you can hang you will do so well and feel so confident because you will have an extremly solid foundation of chemistry...If your serious about sciences then you MUST take her. This subject is difficult and so is this teacher. With that said there isn't any other teacher you will learn more from. If you are taking this class because you have to and you don't have to take Chem 11.... then take someone else. Sooo much work, hard tests and a lot of time in the LRC!! GOOD LUCK

I have never met a teacher that cares more about her students. She added extra hours of class and helped us for free during office hours. I feel extremely solid in my foundation in chemistry and look forward to carrying that confidence into my first formal year of chemistry. Truly a gifted and committed teacher.

Probably the second easiest teacher for chem 11 at SMC. She doesn't explain the material very well but she curves a lot of her tests if the class does bad. As long as you study hard you should be fine.

I LOVE MAMA WAUGH!!! She is a genius! She can teach chemistry with her eyes closed. I took her for all my chemistry and had SO MUCH FUN. She is hilarious!So many crazy stories!But she wants you to give your best, so study! dont b lazy! I LOVE ME SOME WAUGH!!

You know what type of student you are going in. If you are a hard worker, congrats, you will get a good grade and learn a lot. If you are not good with sciences and math and/or lazy, just don't bother.Professor Waugh is good and the subject is hard if you haven't taken Chemistry beforehand. Although I failed her class (mostly because I didnt, as she says, "struggle with the acquistion of knowledge"), I would still recommend her to anyone who is willing to actually learn the material (not just pass). She unfortunately had some health issues this semester, so it was harder this semester, but shes still AWESOME!

Her test are very hard compared to the other chem 60 classes, but unlike the other classes, she really wants you to be prepared for chem 101. She was not joking when she said, "you must spend at least 20 hours a week on chem". If you study hard, you will do well. This class was worth the hard work and effort and I am glad to know that I'm prepared.

She is not an easy teacher but she is defenitively not hard. She cares about the students and actually prepares you for Chem 101. Her test are defenitively harder than other teachers' but you actually learn a lot. You dont really need that many hours a week studying.Most of what you need to know for the test is on the syllabus.

Muriel's really great. I would recommend her to everyone. But whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE CATHY CROSBY for your chem 10 class. If Crosby's the only professor left available, just skip chem 10 till the next semester. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Chem 10 can be a pretty hard class.. I LOOOOOOOOVED LOVE loved Waugh, she's so fun and chill. I ended up with an A, make sure you understand all the webassign #s. she's not for everybody but i frikkin loved her because sehs hilarious and FUN and chill

She's 50000x harder for chem 11 than for chem 10.. in the end she ends up always helping the students out, she gave us a retest and took the best score out of 2 tests and made it count twice. she wants you to succeed I think she's awesome.. but its nottttttt easy you have to study n be on top of your stuff. i got an A but was very borderline

Prof Waugh is the most caring teacher I have encountered in all my years as a student. She genuinely wants to see her class do well and gives a tremendous amount of extra credit opportunities to help you get your grade up if you stumble. Can go a bit quick but will take the time to help you get it as long as you speak up. HIGHLY recommended!

Professor Waugh really cares about her students, and is a very great all around person in general. She's so funny, but at the same time very effective at teaching her students. One of the best professors at SMC without a doubt. It was an honor to attend her class, and I owe her a lot.

She is THE BEST CHEMISTRY teacher I have ever taken a class with and I have taken quite a few. You do not really need to read the book. Her lecture and notes are very clear and direct. The hardest part of the class was knowing your Significant figures and stoichiometry! IF YOU do well with SF then you are set because it is so important!

The best teacher I have EVER had. I am not god's gift to chemistry, so she is seriously amazing. She provides extensive and detailed notes and is deeply compassionate, which is a rare trait among science professors. She offers a ton of extra credit opportunities. Her tests are not hard at all as long as you do the homework and study her notes.

She is by far, the world's most loveable professor. She truly cares about her students and she makes Chemistry extremely interesting. She is the reason why I chose a science major. Her class is hard, only because she wants to prepare you for Chem 11...and then (yikes) Chem 12. But she is fair and crystal clear! Very strict class schedule!

Very tough grader and NO partial credit. She does give extra credit opportunities but BEWARE that she changes her mind on how much it will be worth so do not rely on them!

Prof. Waugh is the best teacher I have had in years! She makes a tough course like chem10 not only doable but fun. Her contagious excitement during the lectures stick with you and guide you for the exams. If you put aside the time effort and participation (dont procrastinate ever) this class is worth its effort. She is honestly the best.

Walker is not easy. She does complicate things more than she should at times and presents material beyond what we need to really know but she's honestly a REALLY good professor. You will learn a LOT. Not an "extremely" easy A but do your work, study, ask questions and you'll be good.

Walker-Waugh is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She has a real gift for explaining complex ideas in a way that any lay person can understand. She's NOT easy & you definitely have to work, but she will go above and beyond to help you if you're struggling. Her homework and practice tests are great prep for her exams.

It was an easy A for me because I understood the material. That is not to say it will be the same for you. Her lectures are thoughtful and fun, and give you all the tools you need to pass. Do book problems anyway though. People may say she is a hard grader, but the questions she asks you can only have one answer, it's not like chem is subjective.

If you want to study Chemistry class, this will be the best choice in SMC. Prof. Waugh gives lots of extra credits and study guides of all quizzes, tests and final. However, this class has lots of homework as well like online assignments, lab reports, etc. This is also not a very easy A class, but if you work hard, you must get a good grade.

Best Chemistry Professor ive taken. She makes the lectures enjoyable and fun. The class is tough but as long as you use her methods and shortcuts you can pass. 100% would recommend to new students to chemistry, especially if youre planning on taking higher chemistry classes. youll need her methods.

If you are a science major, you must take her class. She is hands down the best professor for chem.. She is an inspiring woman who is always willing to help. The class is tough but if you really want a good foundation there is no other person to take. She dedicates a lot of time to helping students who need help, just don't be afraid to ask!

This was one hell of a class. I took it over winter break so it was mon-thur 5 hours a day. Shes insanely enthusiastic so class was entertaining and interesting. But shes not kidding when she says you're going to work. She teaches you some extra stuff but she did prepare me well for Chem 11. Overall shes a great person and professor id recommend.

Very strict woman but only to help you succeed. Hilariously funny and the learning atmosphere was always relaxed. Very consistent and organized, and gives 20 points of extra credit! She also has this thing called Boot Camp that drills the material into your head. I've never been, but I heard it got people their A's.

Professor Waugh is THE BEST teacher I've ever had. This is an extremely difficult class but if you listen to what she says she will give you all the materials you need to do well. If you need to take Chem 11 and 12, nobody will prepare you better. I highly recommend her. Love this woman.

There is not enough characters to describe Professor Waugh. She is so inspirational and just an amazing person. She herself struggled with chemistry, so her teaching method is one that it comes off so simple with her tricks and shortcuts. If you are a STEM major she definitely prepares you and it sticks with you. I took her 2 1/2 years ago.

If you have never taken Chem or are out of practice TAKE HER. I was weak in Chem/Math and nervous about taking over the summer, but keep up and do EVERYTHING she tells you to and you will get an A plus know the concepts. She gives a lot of extra work to help drill the concepts that you will take w/ you to Chem 11 and on. Go to office hrs!

I hated chem in high school but Waugh made me learn to like it. Do ALL the homework, extra credit, take good notes, go to her office hours & bootcamp on Saturdays (you will learn different methods from different professors so it's very helpful). Department final was easy but her final was hard. Got a C on it but still ended up with an A.

If you like easy and are not interested in learning to the best of your ability, this isn't for you. If you are looking to be challenged and master this subject, I would highly recommend. You need to put everything in your part to pass this class, which means a good grade will not be given to you, you need to earn it. Great professor.

Chem. isn't hard. Although, b/c it was an accelerated 6-wk summer course, the workload was relatively trying, making one wish additional time was granted to process the more elusive material. Nonetheless, I was greatly inspired by the charming, hilarious & characteristically strange Prof. Walker-Waugh to "struggle in the acquisition of knowledge".

You want an A? you better work for your A. She's amazing and a great professor but you must put in your effort in order to get good grades in her class. Go to her bootcamps, office hours and S.I session and you will pass her exams. she will give you hard questions on exams but offers LOTS of extra credit to redeem yourself. she cares about you!

Professor Walker-Waugh is amazing. Her recommendation to read the chemistry text and practice the examples is absolutely necessary in learning the material in her class. All extra credit opportunities teach you how to do problems that show up on her exams so DO NOT skip a single one! There is no hand holding in this class. The workload crazy!

On the first day professor Waugh will say to set aside 25+ hours a week for chemistry. & that is literally what it took for me to earn an A. If you dont have the time, dont take the class. There are 11 quizzes (1 dropped), 3 tests (1 dropped), 3 total finals. Tests are hard. Want your A? You will work for it and do every extra credit assignment!

It was a difficult time doing this "remote" learning, and she was always there. Absolutely tons of homework, but you will thank her afterwards because you actually learned something. Recommend for related major.

Chem is difficult by nature, even more if you take it in the summer, SUPER challenging, you learn in 6wks what you'd normally learn in 4mths. Take it in a reg. smstr. Prof. Waugh is AMAZING. She'll push to your next level but she'll work w/you, if she sees your BEST EFFORT. She'll get you ready for Chem11. You can't fall behind. Gracias Prof. Waugh

Professor Waugh is AMAZING! You will have to work hard, and be ready to dedicate 20+ hours of study time per week. She is a great lecturer and is dedicated to the success of her students. Do the work, study, attend office hour lectures, GO TO BOOT CAMP, attend free tutoring sessions, complete the extra credit assignments, and you will do well.

Summer class is intense, however Professor Waugh's charming personality & evident passion for chemistry make lectures exciting. Ample bonus opportunities are provided throughout the semester, but nothing helps your grade more than going to office hours! Her class is structured to push you to the next level, so be ready to work for an A.

I LOVE Professor Waugh!! She is so sweet, hilarious, FUN, intelligent and caring. This was my first chemistry class in 10 years and she did such a great job of explaining all of the concepts and made it a fascinating learning experience. Make sure you do all of the homework and extra credit, get ahead, and attend office hours with questions.

Took CHEM 10 over the winter, had no life for about 6 weeks, thought I wouldn't make it thru but I survived with a B! Professor Waugh is so sweet and hilarious, makes you look forward to those 4.5+ hour lectures. Her notes are amazing and she really wants you to succeed. DO THE HOMEWORK DUE AT THE END!!! brought my grade from a 73 to an 83!!!! ]

Mrs Waugh is a great professor and extremely nice. I think this may be her last semester teaching, but if not I highly suggest taking her for CHEM9 online lab if you need it for your major. Online labs and tests ;)
