he's really good. I highly recommend for everyone
the best math prof ever
Greatest Prof., believe me, and I love his attitude towards math, like the pie T
Best Math Prof in Our College!!
Good teacher. Hope I can have him again for MATH 116.
He is really a good guy who can make you feel easy on Maths...
very easy to understand, doesn't skip things like other profs
excellent prof, very organized, clear and helpful
Highly recommend.
nice guy, organized lecture and notes, fair evaluations
A nice prof , a nice couse
shows a genuine concern for all students learning
Hes got skills.
Definately one of the better math profs. Knows his stuff, and he can ACUALLY teach it, unlike many other math profs.

Excellent prof! Highly recommend!
One of the few good math profs. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and wants his students to succeed.
He is very clear in his explinations. He mumbles sometime and is hard to heard but that can be fixed by sitting close to the front so you can always hear him
He was awsome...and english is his FIRST language!
Don't be fooled by the easy lecture material... the exams are murderous. Even having 90's in high school calculus and math won't help you. Do ALL the practice questions and go to all the tutorials to see what ?'s everybody else is asking. Very nice, approachable guy, overall. Knows his stuff.
Good prof. Easy going and likeable. Answers questions well and does his best to explain and teach tough material, but don't be fooled - this class is brutally hard! Even 90%+ averages in high school math and calculus will not prepare you for this class!
Good prof but make sure you read your text examples or you will get killed on the exams
this class was killer. wasn't impressed when i had a test remarked and he gave me the mark i asked for but marked me down on a different question for "not showing enough work". Thats ****!
Extremly clear and easy to follow. A tad dry, but then so is the subject matter. The fairest exams I've written in awhile, but a tad too easy.
Awesome proff, he is out to see you Pass, gave us 5 options in math 116 to get the highes possible mark, easy to approach, if you attend class 60% of the time and do the assigned problem sets only once in a while you will do good, he also mercy passed my buddy who had failed the class 3 times so he can now graduate, so bonus points in my book
Murray Bremner is the best prof to have for Math 110. He speaks English as his 1st language and takes time to go through concepts and work through them line by line if you didn't get it at first. Tips to pass this class: go to class and do your homework. It takes time but hey, it's worth it to pass the class on your first try!
Bremmner was awesome! Gave good notes and made sure you did well. Easy to talk to and very helpful outside of class. If you had a problem, you could just make an appointment and he would explain things clearly! :) Fair marker. Marking scheme was great(made sure you did your best). Despite being 8:30am class I enjoyed it. English speaking!!! :D
he goes really fast and doesn't explain things super well lol
he's great! Only math prof I've ever had that knew all the names of his students in his class. He actually teaches...I walked out of this class knowing what was expected for exams, assigned homework was fair, and he was extremely approachable!
Very Helpful! Fair Assingments and Exams. Thanks!
He gives good notes and he really knows how to present his material.
His exams were almost EXACT to your homework problems.... Great teacher!
Great explanations of all material. Assignments and quizzes every other week were very helpful and he is very approachable to answer all questions. Great job!
Great guy, real helpful and explains real good
Great Prof!! Very helpful, very understandable, and actually tests you on what he teaches!!
Very good, very clear.
I don't actually have this prof, but I use all of his online math resources to help myself study for exams and midterms and such and his material is VERY helpful. I highly recommend him.
not a good experience
Bremner was very clear in his lectures and wrote very understandable notes. He explained the concepts well and his class examples were relevant to the questions on the tests. Also, almost all the test questions were similar to the textbook questions. Definitely use the textbook and go to class and you will receive a decent mark.
this was a commerce math cass, and man was it hard. half of the class failed, the other half passed. you have to pay attention and go to class if you want to pass with a semi-good mark. I however really liked him, but it is all a matter of opinion where or not you like him. DO YOU HOMEWORK IN THIS CLASS IF YOU INTEND TO PASS.
Well, Bremner is funny, cause he reminds me of Santa Claus. lol he's a good teacher, although math is not my strong suite thats for sure. bad experience with the exams. GET OLD EXAMS WITH STUDENT ACCESS CARD they are basically the same test!!! and he records and puts all his notes on the internet, so don't go to class! SLEEP IN!
Very good prof. Get old tests because there are ALWAYS at least 2 questions on there that are the exact same. I recommend spending an hour every night on math homework and do all the assignment questions! don't fall behind its hard to catch up if your not that great of a math student..
I LOVED HIM! I never took calculus in high school and at first I was enrolled in Math 110, but after two weeks, I switched to this class. Best decision I ever made. His notes are crystal clear and he explains exactly how he got answers. Ask him a question and he won't make you feel dumb. Definitely an awesome guy!
Bremner is a normal, fun lovin guy and you can find him in the halls of the math department or havin a good sweat at the local PAC gym. My advice to you is DO THE HOMEWORK!! Get help if you are confused about even the smallest thing because it all adds up to a big mess in the end if you just avoid it.
Goes over everything we are supposed to cover, but in a way that is not relevant to what is one the exams
All right class. Would recommend going to the structured math 121 help in the library every week, and attending the mock midterms. These are key guys! They help you out so much.
very good prof. go to math help, all lectures, mock midterms. find previous year exams. exams are very similer to last year midterms and especially lots will come from them/ your midterm word by word in final exam. dont miss last mock mid. great prof. i got more than what i thought i would get.
Bremner was ok. Clear and will help if needed but youll learn more from the mock midterms. He teaches in a way that is not relevant to the exams at all. Its as if he thinks we dont believe him when he gives a formula, and takes half an hour explaining how the formula is derived (which has no relevance to exams). Youll need to work hard to pass.
Probably one of the easiest math classes in university - there was not trig, and there was a video podcast of the class. Prof reasonably clear, is understandable. Tests were harder than the labs indicated. If you have to take 1 math class and you're in life sciences, I'd definitely take this one.
Super likable with his massive beard, fanny pack, and obvious interest in math! Thought his lessons were hard to understand, and didn't prepare me well for exams though. math help room saved my life!
Exams are way harder than the labs. You can do a question in the lab and it will take 1/2 hour to do, then on the exam you have to do 10 of them in 1 1/2 hours...and they're usually way harder. Hardcore studying is a necessity to pass.
Great guy, bad teacher. Exams are infinitely more difficult than the labs, practice tests, notes, and lectures prepare you for. He often spends lectures solving a problem using methods beyond the scope of the class that he doesn't actually teach you how to do. Not malicious. He believes everyone already knows this material so he doesn't teach it.
This professor was funny. Exams were alright as long as you finish all your homework. Stick to the class notes when studying for exams. He explained things quite clearly when approached. This class is very easy if you have taken calculus in high school.
Good Prof. I took calculus in high school so this class was really easy. Some questions on the test were much harder then the labs/assignments, but not so hard you couldn't figure them out.
My first university math class. Unreal prof! Very funny and keeps class interesting. Always willing to help outside of class and the labs are crystal clear. Lecture attendance is recommended in my opinion. He goes over examples that are always on his tests and quizzes. Exam was very fair. HIGHLY SUGGEST TAKING MATH FROM BREMNER!
He looks and acts exactly like you think a math prof would. Great guy, shows tons of enthusiasm for math. Very approachable and willing to help. Tests are a little long for the amount of time we had, but overall very highly recommended!
Seems like a nice enough guy but his lectures are basic calculus but taught in a way that is impossible to understand and they don't prepare you for the exams
Great prof! Great guy! Not much else to say.. always willing to help. Attend class. Makes math almost "fun" lol
Decent prof. Expects semi-formal proofs but never really clearly shows how to do them. I'd recommend a logic textbook. Class was really boring, but that's mostly because math 276 covers the entire 266 course in three weeks.
His assignments tend to be highly time-consuming, but other than that: best math professor ever. I would highly recommend taking your math courses from him, if possible.
Murray is the man. He hooks you up with old tests and uses lots of examples.Changed our final mark to final exam mark if we did better. Calculators aloud, formula sheet aloud, no trig. 125 is well worth it, plus Bremner isnt a robot, speaks perfect english and posses a great sense of humor. How could it get any better for math?
Murray Bremner is one of the best professors for Calculus. Not only does he explain things well he is also hilarious. I loved going to his class every time and was slightly disappointed if I missed a class. His midterms and tests were very fair if you study. He even allows cheat sheets and calculators. I would highly recommend Murray Bremner
I decided to take this course because in 2013-2014 everyone who took it told me it was easy. I was surprised when the class average on both midterms was in the mid to low 40% range. The problem was that the text book change and the prof rarely wrote out examples he just used power points with limited steps shown. I suggest finding a tutor.
Murray Bremner is definitely the professor you want for math 125! He explains everything perfectly, and will help you a lot during the labs! If you email him questions, he will email you back step by step explanations on it. His midterms and finals were easy if you did the practice questions! GO TO CLASS.
He is a nice guy and will help if you need, but when doing examples he sometimes uses methods that you don't learn in class. Labs are much easier than the exams, and the exams are usually so long that majority of people don't finish. Would not recommend taking his class.
If I ever had to take another math class, I 100% would take it with him. He uploads all his notes, gives clear examples! He was very understanding of my disability services requirements, and I missed a few days due to medical reasons and he was incredibly nice and understanding about it. Also, i like math 125 better than 110 as you can use a calc!
Test's time limits are too short for how many questions there are.
Gives way to many questions on midterms!! no one could finish our last midterm, 101/274 people failed!! When you confront him about the excessive number of questions on exams he just agrees but judging from previous years he still has not changed his methods. Uses really complicated methods to explain a course which is basically a repeat of CALC 30
If I had to described Bremner in one word or less... sweaty would be it. But seriously, his midterms are killers but the quizzes and labs are manageable.
While he understood what he was teaching, it was difficult for him to convey his enthusiasm and knowledge to the present student body. His lectures are not engaging, nor do they give a complete understanding of the material. He posts his lecture notes online, but they are very difficult to read and to comprehend. Definitely would not recommend.
The class is hard- attend it and do your homework. His midterms and final are EXTREMELY hard. He has way to many long questions for the time period given. He posts his notes before hand but they're impossible to read, he also is hard to follow in class. All that being said tho- the nicest human ever, very approachable, gets nervous easily tho!
This class is a very tough subject. Murray tries his best to explain it to you but unless you have background in every type of math, you are going to struggle. Tests are hard and long, but Murray curved the marks, trying to make as many people pass as he could. He cares about his students, the class is very difficult.
He explained everything very well, took the time to go through many examples. Calculators and graphing calculators were allowed. He also offered to replace our mark with our final exam mark if we did better in the final than on the normal coursework. This class is fairly easy if you took calculus in high school.
Fantastic prof, speaks clearly and has a great way of explaining the material. Kind and helpful. Generous with grading Beware though, MATH 164 starts very slow but picks up pace fast toward the end. Don't sleep on this class or you may find yourself quickly falling behind toward the end.
Best prof at this University's Math Department hands down! Doesn't try to trick and confuse students & truly wants them to learn the material.
Loved Prof. Bremner's teaching style! This was the first time offering 164. He made a solid effort to learn student's names and about their goals and studies. He goes above and beyond when responding to emails. Assignments are marked promptly. I'd highly recommend attending the lectures! He gives 3 midterms and weekly tutorial assignments.
Sweetest prof ever, just know if you didn't take calc in high school you'll need to put in more work. His notes aren't helpful for those who are new to the concepts (saying this as one of those people) and exam questions were hard because of that. He's super generous with marking though!
Dr. Bremner is a really good professor and super kind. Always willing to help outside lecture. This course is very easy if you took calculus in high school, but sometimes he doesn't expand on concepts enough to understand them if you're new to calculus. Lab assignments are easy marks, midterms were chill. He posts blackboard notes. I recommend.
Just don't, I'm naturally selective smarty used all my brain cells to get A+. The prof was there just to waste my time never been useful, I don't care how nice he is what I know he didn't help me to pass this course by any possible way.
Midterms and final are worth a lot but he asks straight forward questions which are pretty much one to one with the lecture/textbook examples. This class would definitely be hard if you didn't take calculus in high school since he over explains most concepts
