I found this class to be hard, yet he was the best teacher for it! Explained everything incredibly well, and handed out study sheets before each test. Very patient and clear! Highly recommend!

I took 2.9, 3.3, 51.1, and 52 with Prof Hochberg (1977-1981). He was absolutely top of the line! Well-organized, clear, fair, interesting, very smart, and warm and compasionate personality. The best qualities any professor could have.

The best professor by far for any math course. He goes at the perfect pace so that there can be a review a week prior to the final. Prepares you so well and gives clear instructions which is needed especially when the textbook just confuses you even more. Also, he makes sure you understand it, very patient and gives fair exams!!!

I'm completely w/ the person below me cause I too am takin the 8AM course. Everyone is basically sleepin and I'm sure we'd get more into our heads if it were a later time....but I say take him. He's a nice person and is willin to help.

previous poster is somewhat correct. I took the test today too and he gave a rectangle instead of a triangle on one problem even thought he said "most likely it will be a triangle problem." Obviously i only studied the triangle problem and couldnt do it at all. Also switched another problem around. But the other 5 were close to the review sheet.

HE IS ONE THAT I WISH TO HAVE FOR ALL MY MATH CLASSES UNTILL I GRADUATE. EVEN AFTER I GRADUATE.N HE HAS AGREAT PESONALITY AS AWELL AS HIS ABILITY TO MAKE THE COURSE EASIER.

He is a good teacher and knows his material very well. U people are ungrateful, at least he actually gives review sheets unlike other professors. Sure they arent precise to the test but its better then nothing. Calculus is a hard class and he is one of the top choices in BC.

knows the material down to the last detail. A soft grader throughout the semester. Gave me a C after three 70's and one failed test. Difficult material so dont fall behind. Does get somewhat boring and repetitive but thats mostly Math not him. Dont take him early its extra hard to stay focused at 8 in the morning

He is the nicest,easiset, and best professor for this course. He explains everything well and gives review sheets for every test that he goes over in class. He does not care if you come late. He can be witty in a cute. He gives out the most lenient partial credit ever. I would take hime for calculus too.

This professor is one of the best. This was my second time taking this class. Didn't understand jack before. Make sure you DONOT come late. He goes over the hw problems which will be extremely helpful on the exams. He gives review sheet and actually goes over it. If you really want to pass, be prepared to practice.W/out practice you wont do well.

Hochberg is an amazing professor and human being he sincerely teaches in a way that everyone is able to understand, if you pay attention and take the notes, you wont even have to do the HW because he does all of the class work perfectly. he also lets the class out early most of the time and gives tons of partial credit on exams!!! A very good professor, but you MUST be up to speed with the math, and ready to work hard. he doesn't follow the book, so go to class. Do not take if you're not good with math, otherwise he's the best you can get.

Took calculus 2 with him. He was nice, never collected the homeworks. Gave review questions for the tests and was generally fair. The tests weren't that hard either.

He is an ideal professor anyone can wish for. I'm taking him in Summer & he made the class very easy. He's funny, easy going,fair & knows his stuff very well. He explains every concept so clearly & also teaches you where it came from. Sometimes he goes fast but you can always ask questions & he is always willing to answer them. Highly Recommended!

Took him for precalc in the summer. I can't do math. I suck at it, I don't even add in my head. I failed the trig regents in HS. When I took hochberg, he made me understand EVERYTHING. I was so freaking scared to take it. I got an A, w/ NO PROBLEM. he teaches so well; he does all the little steps in problems. Do all the hw problems. Math=practice.

Amazing Math professor. He teaches everything clearly, and explains the ideas and theories behind everything. His tests are very fair, and easy if you study well everything he taught in class. Gives a sample exam before each midterm, which is basically identical to the actual midterm. HW is not mandatory, 3 tests+department final.

Took him for my first math class at BC and I don't regret it. He doesn't curve but he won't weigh your worst grade as much. He gives homework but they're not graded. Show up to lectures and do the homeworks and you should do well. He explains everything really well. Take him!

I took him for Calculus 1 & 2. He explains everything extremely well and it was rare that I didn't understand what we were discussing in class. His exams are exactly like the practice exams he hands out so make sure you understand everything that is on them. Doing all the homework questions is highly recommended.

The best math instructor i ever had. Derives formulas and traces how to use them. Goes over hw and exams. Introduces intuitive proofs of concepts. addresses everything in the text and Expands on material not available in text. Addresses common student misconceptions of concepts and problem-solving methods. Excellent handwriting, even with chalk.

Best math prof you can get. Midterms weren't easy, but he explains very very well. Do the hw and review sheets and you will be fine for all the tests and especially the final.

The professor explains everything properly but you have to study the materials on your own as well if you work hard and your dedicated you will be able to get an A

If you do the homework and review sheets, you'll get a good grade. He explains extremely well. Doesn't bombard you with precalc topics at the beginning, reviews them when you need them. 1st half hour is hw questions, 1 hour is lecture. whatever exam you did well on, weighs heavily the better one. hw and attendance not mandatory

he goes over the material very well and has a clear grading system and curves the grades on the finals. If you go to his classes and do the homework that he assigned as well as his review sheet you'll pass. If u don't do any of the following your gonna have a hard time in calc because the material is hard on your own.

I really like Professor Hochburg because he explains everything step by step, and if you have a question he can answer it. Goes over Hw for about 30 min, and does his lecture. Gives a review test, which is the test but with different numbers. really recommend.

I absolutely love this professor I have had him twice already and I have grown to love him even more. He is a truly great professor he cares about his students and wants to make sure everything is clear before moving on. Homework is optional but its helpful to try because he will go over any questions the next day. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Hochberg isn't an awful as some say on RMP, them ppl probably withdrew from the class. Hochberg is truly caring and enjoys mathematics, his 3 exams are similar to the ones he gave from previous semesters, understand those, you got it. Can't blame him for the final its dept., but its sad that he is might teach one more year. Great professor.

He's a humble guy who knows his stuff. It's Calculus, not everyone is a master at it. He gives 3 exams and 1 dept final. I struggled (like big time fails) for the first 2 exams, but did much better on the 3rd. Reasonable when it comes to grading. Do his practice exams, like 10 times. You can pass.

Responds to emails quickly, hes very helpful! so happy I took him, definitely recommend. Gives back exams in the next 24 hours (except final). He grades fairly, if you listen in class and take notes during lecture you should do well. He explains the information well. He gives similiar problems from class on the exam, so just do practice examples

reviews homework in the first part of class, non-mandatory hmwk but its worth doing it so that you know your info. Hes really nice, and answers questions. Gives practice exams from previous semesters before the actual exam to study from. Questions are similar so study those and you will be fine. Overall pretty good professor.

Prof. Hochberg was very helpful. His attendance is mandatory and he gives 3 tests and a final. Homework isn't mandatory but he does give out problems to go over in class if you need it. Very accessible outside of class. His handwriting is hard to read most of the time but just try to listen to what he says when he goes over it. And pay attention

This professor is a great choice for any math class, especially for the advanced math courses. while his handwriting isn't the best, he is helpful and nice enough to go over topics you have trouble with and his exams are fair.
