The best teacher by far! He's funny, very sweet, very interesting class, tests aren't hard if you study his notes (all questions on tests come from his notes), very helpful, loves to chat with students, and passionate about Biology! What's not to love?

He's so funny! he's such a nerd but a cool nerd. He's very passionate about Biology so he makes his class really interesting. He loves to help students. His test are fairly easy if you study. He's the best professor I've had so far. I just love him!

I absolutely loved this professor. I have to say that in my time in college, he is one of the few that I will remember forever. He taught so much and gave us so much freedom to explore and learn and ask questions.

I had Dr. P a few years ago for med terminology. He is the best professor, and funny too! He really makes class interesting and enjoyable.

Best Professor I ever had...seriously. I have taken Dr. P. for 4 Bio classes, and I have enjoyed every one of them. Easy class... Very interesting and Dr. P is a great teacher-- he really cares about his students. Only prob. is that he has a lot on his plate btwn writing books, teaching, etc. But I highly recommend him.

best teacher i ever had! i accidently took his class, im a CJ major and i learned more in there then most classes. nothing really came from the book. just take notes and come to class. he's really lenient on absences but i had a tiny class. HIs reviews are helpful too.

If you need help he is more than willing to help, but is sometimes hard to catch becuase hes got alot going on. I love him though! Hes a great teacher.

Dr. Pendarvis is the greatest science teacher at SLU. He's very nice and very intelligent. If you're a science major you have to take him. His tests come straight from your notes so you don't have to read your book! He's great!

He is a very good teacher. I learned alot and also you willl too. Just go to class and take notes. Do not bother renting the book.We had three test counting the finals. If you study you can get an A or a high B out the class.

Pendarvis is very enthusiastic about teaching. He wants his students to succeed and encourages them to visit him in his office if they are struggling. He's the most interesting, nice, unbiased professor I have yet to meet at any university.He does not give handouts so expect to earn your A like in any decent class. I became an evolutionary biology major because of this man! Take this guy because he is truly dedicated to helping his students do well. Don't bother with the textbook, he wrote the damn thing. If you are into the creation/evolution debate, take him, you won't regret it.

I took his class over the summer, and I love Dr. Pen! He is a really nice person and loves to teach! He teaches the clinical aspects and I found that really interesting. His tests are kind of hard, but he is really helpful.

Dr. Pendarvis is very passionate about his biology especially Darwinian biology and evolution, but he knows that biology can be difficult for students so he works with you. Amazing! Super nice and understanding if your having problems in his class. Loves what he teaches so likes class discussion. Does not use the textbook at all. However he only gives three tests a semester which means each test is based on at least 20 pages of notes so be prepared to study. Thankfully in the H option he gives a few extra assignments

If you truly think Pendarvis is unclear and his tests are "insane" perhaps college is not the place for you. He gives great lectures, and all tests are strictly from the notes. Only concerned with getting students excited about biology, not failing or boring them. Easy A if you just show up and listen, but should take him for more than just a grade

Dr. Pen has the greatest personality a professor can have. Goes out of his way to help, not just with classwork, but gives advice and encouragement wherever he can. Lectures are based on personal notesexperiences, not the textbook, so it takes some getting used to, but is far more interesting and relatable. Loved all the classes I've had with him!

Dr. Pen is a great professor. He is very entertaining and helpful when needed. We only took 2 tests the whole semester; which means a lot of information was covered in them. He assigned two easy A assignments to help if we did not do well on the tests. He loves the course he teaches, and it shows. Definitely recommend for an easy A.

I'm terrible at Biology so I searched for a professor with really good reviews and took Pendarvis. I was not disappointed. Just show up and take notes and the questions on the test are identical to the lectures. Super easy and he makes lectures interesting.

Tests are tough, usually part multiple choice and part short answeressay, but if you go to class and take notes the test material is word for word from notes. I only used the book to clarify something if I wasn't sure about it and that wasn't often. He is funny and really loves what he's teaching, which always helps.

Dr. Pendarvis was very laid back in this class and we didn't even cover all the material we had to before finals! He is an extremely intelligent man and also teaches med courses. Grading is very confusing, I only saw my grade once and that was 1 week before midterms which scared me a lot. Lectures are 100% off the top of his head so pay attention!

He is one of the nicest teachers but he is so passionate about teaching zoology, he goes off of notes when teaching so you have to write down EVERYTHING he says and sometimes its hard to keep up. Lots of lectures, but he will note what areas to study, and what not to. He will also tell you what will be on the test the class before it's given. He allows open notes during the tests for about five minutes (the only GBIO class I've seen this happen). Easy grader, and a really awesome professor.

He is a good teacher but his test are challenging he give 50 multiple choice and 20 discussion questions, so you really have to study. His letures are fast pace, but he is willing to help you. I have taken Dr. Pendarvis for over five courses through out my college career, he has consistently been the best professor I have ever had.

Interesting and not a difficult course. He is good but a little unorganized as far as notes. If he writes it on the board, you should write it down too. A lot of information so he is more of a big picture professor. Hardly used the textbook. Only had 2 exams and a few assignments. Tests are long and time consuming.

Dr. Pendarvis is an excellent professor that is passionate about his material and will make you want to come to class. I took him multiple times over the course of my undergraduate because he is that good. Usually only gives two long tests, but just come to class, learn your stuff and do the best you can. Evolution with Dr. Pendarvis was a wonderful experience. His passion for the subject is clear. Show up to class, participate in discussion reasonably, study, and you will do excellently. Usually only gives 2 tests, but he let us do other fun assignments on the side for extra credit. Writes recommendation letters if he likes you!

Hes super funny, and the class was tough but studying in advance is helpful considering it is so much information at a time. Tests are normally 25 multiple choice and 10 free response so you really have to know what youre talking about. Go to class and take good notes or you wont pass. No powerpoints or anything so you MUST ATTEND EVERY CLASS.

Best zoo professor his lectures were very interesting and he gives real life experiences for you to remember. He tends to talk fast but he will stop if u have a question although I would suggest recording the lecture and going back and check you have everything. Great GBIO professor compared to who I had for GBIO151H. Cares deeply about his students and his job and gives great lectures. He doesn't seem to expect much from his students except for them to have open minds. Gives out bonus. Even pushed our exam back when we weren't ready, and cut an assignment. Definitely would recommend and take again.

I took him for lab and lecture. Respect him and talk with him you WILL pass. He will help you. For lab, it's just learning bones for the first few weeks. You do have to teach yourself out the book, w/ any lab. Yes, zoo is hard. Class will be 30 minutes but if you're smart, you will stay a little longer to review the bones, HE WILL REMEMBER YOU.

He's a good professor; very easy going. He tells a lot of stories that correlate with what is being taught. I found it hard to take notes because of that. Sometimes he'll mention whether or not something will be on the test. There's a quiz that only provides the word and you have to define it from memory. Three tests, third one was also the final.

Amazing! I took his GBIO 405 Evolution class online and he always has stories. The lectures are long but he has so many stories that keep you entertain. You have a few assignments but they are short and easy to do. He gives out extra credit assignments. I would recommend going to class. His test are multiple choice. Take him !!!

Dr Pendarvis has been an amazing semester considering we are in midst of a pandemic. He's been easily accessible, understanding and emphasizes with you. We had a test this semester we didnt do our best on and we emailed him and HE LISTENS y'all! He gave us a 14 pt curve. Best professor for an anatomy class at SELU.

A&P is a difficult course. Theres lots to study and review and know. Dr. Pen makes the class bearable. Hes super funny in lectures and gives great stories to help you remember. Put in the work and youll make an A or B. 3 tests and a few assignments.

Greatest teacher of all time!

Dr. Pen was an AMAZING zoo teacher. His exams are based on what he says in class, so you must attend! You will need to study a lot but that is pretty much any zoo class. His lectures are very engaging, and he will sometimes tell you what will be on the exams. Definitely a solid choice in professors.

One of the best anatomy teachers. The bad reviews are from people who did not study. He did reviews before exams days that were basically the whole exam. I got a B because I did not study enough for the first test. We only had two exams and the final. Definitely manageable if you study! Will help out with your grade in the end. Such a sweet man!

I love Dr. Pen. He is very caring about your grade and wants you to succeed in his class. He gives you all the information for the exams and does exam reviews before tests. LOVE Dr. pen. He is a cute little grandpa and actually cares for his students. Again, if he doesn't have a good rating it's because they don't study. The class before the test, he tells you everything that is on it. Genuinely wish I could take this man for every single class. I used quizlets and on the first test I got an 88. You got this!

Go to class take notes and study the notes. He will give you a review before each test and give you specific hints on what may be on there. Study what he says and your notes and you will survive. Yes he rambles but he truly cares about his students and asks you how you think you did after every test when you turn it in.
