He is very good professor! Two papers for midterm and two for final all take home that is all you have to do to complete the class. Very nice to studentsand understandable teacher!

He is one of the easiest professors at Baruch. He's a really cool guy, a sport buff, goes off on alot of interesting tangents tho. Take home midterm & final & 2 other easy papers. I took his class, and was absent half the time and still got an A.

Can you say easy? This guy definetely is. Of course if you are not interested in getting a good grade, but you want to work your butt off and learn a lot about history then this class is not for you:-)

I wish he taught all my classes. Great professor. Other than a book review and 6 essays (4 pages each, at home, most of it pretty much straight from the book, not too much work) it's pretty much relaxation time.

You cant possibly get any easier then this guy , i handed him my midterm in for my final and still got an A. He cant teach though i didnt learn much

if you don't get an A in this guys class you are doing something worng.

Awesome professor. I wish my other professors were like him. Take home final and the questions he gives out for the midterm helps u not get an F in the class.Definitly take his class if u dont mind listening and want/need a good grade.

Very easy professor. Loves to talk about movies and sports... a big movie buff.... def. take him if u want to get an easy A. A bit boring sometimes but the take home exams and 1 project balances it out!

Good teacher. LOVES to talk about New York and its history. Lectures are generally boring. Gives midterm and final in essay form but questions are given in advance so u know exactly what you need to write about. Also gives a not too hard project/report.

It's really easy to do well in his class. He gives the essay questions earlier so you can easily prepare 4 it. His lectures are boring and there's no purpose in going there except for attendance and the exams. Make you write alot with specific details.

He gives a midterm, final, and movie review paper. He loves long essays, but gives the questions out weeks in advance and allows a 6x8 index card of notes for each. Final is usually take home. Class can be funny, and then boring. Easy class though.

One word: easy! Focus on writing alot for your essays, which you can prepare with the questions he gives weeks before the midterm & final. There's also a report-don't worry cuz it's not that hard. Recommended if you don't care about history but boring.

Even though you won't learn much history from him, take him if you don't really care about history but just need the credits. Mad easy with essay questions but he can be austere if you don't write alot. Looks for quantity more than quality. Very boring.

If you want a very easy history professor take him. His lectures are kind of boring but remember that he is a easy A.

If you are going to fail this class you are an official dumbass. The easyest class I have ever had. Put a minimum of work in it and you will be passing. He does not talk about history much but who cares this is a business school. Don't rush with buying books.

dont bother goin to class, have a friend sign u in or sign and then leave. research paper about frick museum, one midterm and a final. easy gives u midterm and final essays waya ahead of time. take him easy A

Don't be fooled by most of the comments. You can end up with a B+ but not an easy A. You have to write alot in your essays and report to earn the A. He's critical with the grading if there's not enough details. Take him if you love to write. He talks about his personal life more than history.

If you don't care about history this is the professor for you! He talks about ireelevant things throughout the whole period and spends maybe 20 minutes on history. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK u will be wasting your money. Three papers and looks for a lot of writing.

listen, he doesnt teach but you have to learn. the midterm and final are easy only if u do the work right before. he gives the questions, all you have to do is read about them in the book or online and answer the essay. not a hard class but you do learn (by urself right before the midterm and essay)

there's no reason to hate murray (he loves this name ;p). he has a very "easy going" style and i'm completely cool with it. the class is easy and enjoyable. rubinstein is a great person.

he was boring.. u dun need to go to class and listen at all! he gave essays like 1 month b4 the test.. u need to write ALOT..if u have great grammer then u'll get an easy A.. if u hv language problem, especially if u dun write good paper, dun take him, i got a B- only v.v

Skiing and golf? That's like Al Bundy's four touchdowns in a single game. Three papers and no exams. Gives paper questions way in advance. Write A LOT and you'll get a good grade. And if you hate Bush, this is the guy to take. You'll have a lot in common.

yes true, very anti-Bush, loves skiing and golf. Nice guy, knows his stuff, just doesn't want to fully express it...thus we do nothing. But you can learn on your own, especially while preparing all your essays for his class. Three exams - many questions given way in advance, prepare all!

If u write good essays, he's GREAT.. 1 midterm 1 final 1 paper, gave u the Q's 1 month in advance... classes are useless, u can skip it, just write looooong essays then u'll get an A! lookin' for quantity more than quality

Can't get easier than this class

He made the class very interesting!! i learned so much about the Presidents of the United States and he makes you want to find out more when you are doing the midterm and final papers. I thought he is one of the best and he knows his history too well. He also brings in current events into the class which is good. Thanks Rubinstein!

If you want an easy A or just infatuated with history, take his class. Rubenstein will have numerous irrelevant discussions ranging from golf to the state of the NY Yankees. He is a world history guru, whom is also a very nice guy. He’s also an easy grader…just make sure you write A LOT in your term papers and he will reward you for your efforts.

Professor Rubinstein is definitely one of the best professors in Baruch. Just phenomenal...He is a fair grader and you will definitely get what you worked for. He always has interesting lectures/discussions. If you don't take at least ONE class with him to experience his style...well, you'll miss out.

This is the best History Professor. He makes History very interesting. I've never learned so much in a History class before I got to his class. I got to know about our great Presidents even better and he gives his opinion to us. Lots of work but he is a great professor and makes it interesting. 2 Tests and a paper!

He is a smart man. He knows his history. He's published 6 books' he teaches part-time in China, and loves to play Golf. So if you are interested in China or Golf, take him. Its an easy A class. Dont take him if your not interested in History. Ur waisting time of an intellectual person. U dont deserve to take him if ur gonna complain abt doing work.

the book teaches more than he does and he does talk about non history stuff most of the time. its still worth going to

great professor and great class. gives essay questions wayyy ahead so u have a lot time to do it. keeps the class interesting by adding his comments not only going by the facts. very flexible. he only grades on the 3 essays. paper attendance. he is a very smart, funny man and i strongly reccomend to take his class :)

He is excellent. An easy 'A' if you know how to wirte. You will learn a lot about history in the best possible way.

Be prepared to write a lot in this class..you have to do a lot of research. you have a 15 page paper and a 5 page paper...a midterm and then final which is taken in class where you write an entire essay filling up the blue book. he helped me learn a lot about chinese and indian history. he knows his history!

This is the best history professor in Baruch. He makes you want to learn history. We learned about Chinese history and how history was written. This class involves a lot of writing...3 Book Reviews and a 15 page term paper with a 10 minute presentation. Not easy. I really enjoyed his class! Plus we had a visit from the President of Rwanda!

Great professor, dont listen to the comment below,he/she prob smoked a bit too much....he is a great professor, doesnt judge essays on grammer as harsh as other teachers, as long as u get ur point across and provide good opinions and content in ur essays, ...A ....doesnt care bout attendence at all, take him before he retires!

very interested in his subject matter, can get boring at times. still a fun, easy professor. a lot of writing, but he's a super easy grader. readings are useless. be prepared to learn a lot about golf, movies, and pop culture of both the u.s. and taiwan. take him if u can, before he retires; i know i will.

He is awesome!!! goes off topic sometimes , but into much more interesting topics then chinese history. shows lots of youtube clips. Requires one book review, and one 15 pg(which you can debate) paper. Great guy took him for 3 courses.take him before he tries to retire, again

This is not your average class, but you really walk out of this class with more knowledge than when you walked in. Rubinstein has a lot of insight to EVERYTHING, and he DOES talk about history, the funner side of it!! Amazing professor, shame he is retiring soon. Take him before it's too late!!

LOVE this professor. took his last fall for 3852 and got an A. i took him this spring for 4900 and 2053 and got an A for both. and these two classes were back to back. from 7:55am to 10:45. word on advice, the more u write on this papers, the BETTER you grade will b. better take him in the fall cause that is officially his last semester.

I'm not understanding people complaining about him because you have to write a lot. It's a history class!! Yes you have to write a lot and final paper has to be at least 15 pages with a presentation. Other than that, not much to the class. Yes he does ramble on about golf and movies, but I'm into both so it was not a problem. I'd take him again.

I had him for HIS 3080, 3852, 3860. Very funny, if not focused. He really does know his subject matter but you're more likely to find that out from talking to him after class or in his office than from his lectures. Also read his books if you're really interested in the subject area.
