Myoung lacks clear english skills...the class is very difficult to stay focused in. Expectations of students and testing procedures are not well-defined.
Myoung is a joy and a sage. She is witty kind and helpful. She even brings candy. I like her a lot.
This class isn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be. It's just a lot of reading, and every now and then she'll throw out a pop quiz during lecture! Labs are really easy, and tests are all right (just be sure to study hard!)
Myoung Lee does not at all excel with the english language. She covers about a third of the material and then pop-quizes us on what she cannot get to due to her lack of english skills and her snail-like pace when covering the chapters.

I hate this class. Myoung totally sucks as a teacher, and I definitley learned everything in that class from the lab. Her tests are total B/S and she adds in trick questions, as if the material isn't hard enough already! AVOID THIS CLASS!!!
Myoung dropped our two lowest quiz scores and our lowest hw assignment to help us get our grade up..I had her class Winter04 and she is very easy to understand and she has jokes..She curved our 3rd test up 7%!!!Haven't got my grade yet though..Will inform
Not such a great class
This class is hard becuase no one can understand her. She lacks good English skills. On exams she throws in trick questions along with stuff hardly covered in class. Avoid this class if at all possible.
Test does not reflect what is covered at all...makes me want to change my major. It is just frustrating that I study so much and understand the material, but do poorly on all the graded work.
Tests were ridiculous! What is it with economics teachers and their tests? This is supposed to be an INTRODUCTORY course and it shouldn't be this hard. It is also unfair to give pop quizzes in an 8am class. The readings weren't bad, it was just the tests that sucked.
I don't know why everyone is giving Myoung such a hard time, she's really not that hard. Yeah, you're probably not going to pull out an A or anything, but you do your work and read the book and you should get a B or B+. Also, she doesn't know what a pronoun is, always Myoung does this, Myoung that.
the tests are incredibly hard and ridiculous. her pronunciation is unclear
Listen to headphones during class because your brain will hurt trying to listen to her lectures. Weak grasp on English, terrible examples, and difficult tests. Booed 5 straight classes for being so sucky. Doesn't cancel class during day with a night test. Want to gouge my eyes out every min. of lec.
Horrible teacher. Her tests are hard, you can't understand her, and she doesn't have her students' best interests in mind. She's only concerned with quickly covering the material she has to, and sounding like an idiot in the process.
I have never studied so much in my life, yet done so horrible. The class might have been easier had she known how to speak ENGLISH! Tells stupid jokes, is annoying to listen to, and doesn't help students. The only reason I don't have an F is because of my TA.
could study for weeks and get the same grade on the test
this teacher is from Korea and speaks poor English. her classes are boring plus with the language barrier it is very difficult to pay attention. the only thing you can really do in order to get a good grade in the class is read the book and look at her previous exams online. wouldnt reccommend this class
Myoung Lee is the worst teacher i have ever had. Her annoying voice made me want to rip my ears off. Hopefully she will get fired so nobody else has to suffer through her class. I honestly studied for over 20 hours for one test and still got a B-. She wants people to fail and she gets a sick pleasure from doing so.
this class wasn't easy and she made it very difficult to enjoy the class. you have to go to class and read the book. the work load in that class sucks and even then you aren't guaranteed a good grade but if it wasn't for her curves i would have gotten a C and instead i got an A so i can't complain too much. good luck.
Professor Lee has exceptional knowledge of the subject, yet does not know how to convey it to her students sucessfully...and the thick Korean accent doesn't help. She does, however, make every effort for her students to succeed. Best advice: study old tests, read the book, and go to lecture (she rewards those who go to class).
Some of the previous commentors are unfair to Myoung. She is very smart, and tries very hard to help students to succeed. I think an econ class could be A LOT worse. If you sit in the front, Myoung is much easier to understand. Do all the assigned readings, and look at old tests and quizes. Go to class, too.
At the start of the semester things are pretty easy, its mostly review and the material isn't too hard, but after that second test it starts getting really hard and Myoung stops making any sense at all- my advice- KNOW all of the practice exams!!!!
I originally had Myoung as a TA a few years ago. If it hadn't have been for her, I would have failed. She is still very passionate about her classes and tries to keep them lively. You will have to work hard to pass the class, but you learn a lot of worthwhile information in the process. If you want to use your money wisely-take Myoung's class!
Myoung is hard to understand and is more concerned with getting through a certain number of chapters than making sure her students understand the material. My best advice is to memorize all of the old exams and practice exams because a lot of the questions are repeated.

She is better than Sharon Ryan . . . which isn't saying much
She is very dedicated to teaching and classes are entertaining b/c of her bubbly nature. The class material isn't something that comes naturally to most. OLD EXAMS ARE THE KEY TO THIS CLASS...use them and it helps a ton.
tests are difficult; very available out of class and will help you; material covered in class isn't always clear
Be prepared to have a major hand cramp at the end of the class: there is a TON of note taking involved. Always refer to the old tests. I would honestly take this with another teacher, if one was available.

Her lectures are incredibly simple, but very fast-paced. Her exams are very difficult and complicated! Try to take this class somewhere else!!
She is just to hard to understand. Her tests are terrible and she does not prepare you enough. She is just not a good enough teacher for a college class.
If you can get past the fact she can't speak english and just copy whats on the overhead youll survive. Personally I would take this at a community college and transfer it in. I studied forever from the book, notes, and old exams for the tests and still only got high Cs and very low Bs, very frustrating

If you took micro, don't think you're going to be able to fly through macro...it won't happen. GO TO LECTURE (she gives pop quizzes) and make sure you do the practice exams because they will help. Lecture is fast paced and she is VERY hard to understand, but she's nice. Tests screw a lot of people over...study hard and read EVERYTHING she gives you
Hard to understand i just gave up and started listening to my iPod
This is an extremely easy class. Three things to remember. Go to class and take notes, Read the book, and Take the practice exams online before the test, there's normally two. The test is 75% from those practice exams, word for word. If you do that an A will be no problem
The class itself is easy, and well structured. However if you have to ask her to help you with anything outside of class, she always says she's too busy to do so. The Korean accent is easier to understand than you might think. I will probably get a C+/B-.
This class is not easy. I studied so much for the tests and still did poorly. She expects so much out of you that you'd think this would be the only class you'd take in a semester. On top of reading, study guides, homework, and quizzes, the amount of time devoted is unbearable. I've worked so hard for a grade that's going to be a detriment to my GPA.
She is so nice and so funny. The class is worth the money.Exams are not easy but if you study hard you will get the result you want.
hated it
Dr. Lee is very helpful if you go visit her in office hours. She is nice and enthusiastic. Keep up with the work and you will do fine.
Don't go into the class thinking it is easy because it does take work to get a good grade in this class. You can not slack off and expect to get a A. Mrs. Lee is super helpful and is willing to do anything she can to help you achieve a good grade in the class. She is fun and energetic, which really helps keep your attention throughout the class.
Class was a total waste of time. She requires attendance if you want to get a good grade. I got an A in the class and slept through all her lectures. She's annoying and her voice is whiny. If you want to do well in this class you'll actually need to read the book. Beware she does use lecture examples on the tests though. Overall it was awful.
At first she is very very difficult to understand. By the time you figure out what she is saying she is already weeks behind. You have to read the book and take a quiz over what you read every week and then she lectures over it two or even three weeks later. And by that time you have already learned 2 more chapters and taken 2 more quizzes.
20% of her questions on her test ask you about what she said specifically during class when everyone was busy copying down her notes and physically unable to lister to her and comprehend what she said at the same time. I got over 100 in Sharon Ryan's class and got B's on Mrs. Lee's tests...
A lot of people have trouble understanding her, but I didn't have any issues. She's very energetic and definitely passionate about economics. Dr. Lee loves seeing her students outside of class and I highly recommend taking advantage of her walking & office hours. Read, use the workbook, & take diligent notes - don't expect to slide by in her class.
A waste of time. On the rare chance you understand what she's saying then she's lecturing on topics you've already been tested on. Terrible teacher.
Class sucks. It is seriously the worst part of my day. I'd like to ask questions in her class, but she shoves her microphone in your face. Honestly, a B is doable, but the amount of workload you have to do to get that B is unbearable. Everything about this class will make you mad
More interested in handing out candy than teaching. Makes simple concepts super confusing. She also incorrectly taught game theory. AVOID
Had for two classes. How can you hate her? Oh, yeah. That's right. People who hate subjects they have to take but don't want to (like Economics) blame the professor. Here's what's up -- If you don't like Dr. Lee, you're prob. just not smart enough for economics. She's brilliant, one of the nicest ladies I have ever had, fair, and a great teacher.
I had her for Macro and it was my least favorite class. I didn't even deserve to pass but she pushed my grade up to passing. Yet, I got a B+ in Micro no problem. Granted, she offers help when needed but I went to the TA for HW help and did worse than when I did it on my own.
I had her for Macro and Intermediate Micro. She's a great teacher and is definitely passionate about the subject. Go to class and she'll boost your grade.
Possibly the nicest teacher on campus. She loves economics, and is so accessible outside of class. You'll get a little extra credit for attending class/office hours/walking hours, but you will not get bumped letter grades at all. This course requires you to heavily read the textbook, ace the quizes and homework, and study hard for the tests.
This is possibly one of the worst teachers I have ever had. First of all you can't understand a word she is saying! She talks down to the class & her outlines are horrendous. Only B I have received in college. I was in hospital 4 two weeks & went to her office hours and she literally said "too bad, cant help u, drop the class" - she should be fired
This teacher is the most insane I've ever experienced. She is incomprehensible and has requirements that just make my blood boil with anger. I treat you with respect and dignity as an adult, I respect the same in return as an adult.
I love Econ, however, after taking Prof. Lee's class for Macro, I almost dropped it as a minor. She is a really nice person who cares about Econ, but she is not a great teacher. She is extremely difficult to understand & she manages to muddle basic concepts, two things that are not conducive in an economics teacher. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Basic economic concept can be ruined by her. I tried my best to follow her on class but the way she taught made me feel like Macro Econ is the hardest course in the world.
She made the first exam super easy by taking exact questions off of HW and Practice Exams, but then for the second exam, she changed it up completely and mostly everyone failed. She quizzes you over stuff we hardly covered and I had a really hard time understanding her heavy accent. Don't take this class with her! She makes it so much harder.
This is, by far, the worst Professor that I've had while attending the University of Missouri. Her tests, quizzes, and homework were as unclear as her accent.
This has been the worst class I have ever taken at Mizzou. You can't understand her and her exams are ridiculous. After learning new material, we are having our cumulative final the next class. Please tell me this does't make sense. Try to avoid her at all cost. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES
Dr. Lee obviously loves her job and is interested in preparing her students, yet her methods are not so effective when dealing with a 400+ lecture hall. Her accent is difficult and takes getting used to. If you want a good grade(B or above) you must dedicate at least 50% of your effort Shes nice person, but inefficient as a professor. Do not take!!
Love economics but this class was DIFFICULT. Hard to understand her at times and questions can be worded vaguely where you can misunderstand what she's trying to ask. Advice: Pay special attention to her lectures and read ahead in the book. Many times I found questions for assignments and quizzes hidden in future chapters. Good Luck... she curves!
This class is seriously not that difficult. Yes, the tests are hard but she curves them and gives a LOT of bonus points towards the end of the semester just for attending class! I ended up with a B but she curved it to an A- because I only missed one day. Really nice lady and really passionate about Econ. Don't be afraid to take her. Go to class.
I loved Myoung-Lee. I know she is one of the more hated teachers but she is seriously one of the best at Mizzou. She is enthusiastic, goes out of her way to help everyone, and is a unique and eccentric character. Like how could you not love her? Oh yeah, when someone doesn't try or do well in a class, they blame the teacher. Myoung-Lee is great
I'm not refuse to be interested by any professor. Lee just failed to interest me. She brings bad parts(instead of good parts) of Asian teaching style to classroom. Lee also let us subscribe WSJ, but she didn't use it at all. Just FYI professors can get benefits from WSJ if certain amount of students in the class subscribe. Google WSJ for professors
Myoung Lee is by far my favorite professor on campus. She genuinely cares about her students' success. However, you must attend all of her lectures otherwise you won't understand what is going on and you won't be able to take advantage of the enormous amount of extra credit she gives.
The lecture of this class is very boring and the exams aren't that difficult, but the final is next to impossible.
Most difficult class I've ever taken. Dr. Lee is great teacher, and she is funny. I like her, but her tests are insane. I (and most of the class) studied day and night for her exams and still did poorly. She curves because half the class would fail if she didn't. But as long as you go to class and make an honest effort, she'll make sure you pass.
She was a good teacher and she meant well by a lot of things that she did but her tests are terrible I studied night and day for those things and never got over a 70% constantly I saw 3 right answers on the test but it was just which one was more right overall a extremely hard class but I also do not like economics very much.
Class was tough. You really have to study. The quizzes are very difficult.
I didn't like her at first. But then I find her class is very good! And she takes care of her students!
Takes awhile to understand her. She will treat this class like it is the only one that you have, and will pile it on. Definitely don't take her class and just take it over the summer if you can.
Dr. Lee as a person is great. She's really nice and approachable and her lecture can be funny but wow her tests and quizzes were hard. I would study about 16 hours over three days for a test and after curve still only get around a 78. If you skip you will fail. Try your best to keep up on reading even if it's a bit unrealistic.
She is the best teacher I ever had. She loves her students and teaching and is clear on her expectations. Don't expect a special treatment or break from her. She sets the rule of the class and follow it through. She treat you as a responsible adult. A tough lady but treat everyone the same. Blame yourself if you do not do your part.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She is passionate about her subject matter and truly cares about her students.
She is super passionate and knowledgeable. The exams are not that bad. There is a lot to study for so don't wait until the night before. Go to lectures since attendence will be taken and sometimes there are extra credits. Huge curve- I got a C on the final, had a B+ with homework quizzes and extra credits, and eneded up with an A on MyZou.
worst teacher i have ever experienced. She hardly speaks English which makes understanding the content that much more difficult. I would not recommend taking her class unless you want it to Decrease your GPA. Overall worst experience I have had at the University.
Enthusiastic teacher but has terrible teaching methods. Her class can be confusing at a lot of time
Go to class and you will be okay. She gives extra credit take advantage of it. Study a lot for the exams and quizzes.
The worst class I have taken at the university. She doesn't allow the use of laptops in her class and she speeds through every slide. It is also very hard to understand her. Be prepared to teach yourself all of the information. I highly suggest that you do not sign up for her class.
Gives out homework, does not explain how to do it until you turn it in. Same with quizzes. Tests are very difficult to complete in the given amount of time. Talks extremely fast and not clear all the time. Just read everything and you might be okay.
Professor Lee is a wonderful human being. She can talk a bit fast sometimes and she REALLY speeds through the slides but if you come to class focused and pay attention you will get the information you need. Most importantly, make sure you do the readings or you'll be lost!
She is hard to understand in class and the quizzes she assigns are tricky as well. She does not work with you on clicker points or grading matters.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. 1. her English is difficult to understand. 2. She is not accommodating with technological issues. Will not get back to you in a timely manner and if she does it is rude. I believe she is legitimately out to fail every student she can and would not recommend her to anyone! Especially if your GPA is hurting
Lectures are mandatory but are very informative & descriptive. Lots of extra credit offered for attendance throughout semester. Tests are very difficult, but attending class, doing ALL of the reading, working diligently on quizzes & homework will help you prevail. This class required hours of studying & hard work but an "A" is definitely attainable
Explains what concepts are, however the math on the in class quizzes is not covered or explained. Very hard to understand. Quizzes and exams are quite difficult. She yells and screams at 8 am. The "extra credit" she provides are walking hours usually during my other classes, so I am not able to get any of the extra credit. Avoid at all cost.
It's more difficult than most of the freshman level class. You will need to go to class, take thorough notes, and read the book in your leisure time. Professor Lee's class gives you in-depth understanding of Macroeconomics, but the time and efforts you will need to devote to this class is no joke. However, I still enjoy her class. She's awesome.
Dr. Lee is a good professor and truly cares about her students. She loves getting to know as many as she can over the semester. Going to all lectures is a necessity if you want to get a good grade, and there are usually clicker quizzes every morning. It's a difficult and time consuming class, but with hard work, a good grade is very possible.
Extremely enthusiastic and really wants her students to learn. However, her teaching methods need to change. Her class is hard -- even her TA's didn't understand her homework half the time. She will give you an insane curve if you show effort. Go to class & sit near the front. Go to walking hrs. I ended up failing the final but got a B+ on MyZou
Great professor! You will learn a lot. It is challenging, but you are given every opportunity to learn and do well. It is sad that so many business majors dislike economics so much.
