Very good lecturer. She managed to make some very dry topics quite interesting. Lecture attendance mandatory as a good part of every test asked you some questions not found in the textbook. Her attempts to be 'cool' seemed a little forced and were sometimes embarassing. She is a pretty hot (she knows it too) which made the 3 hr lectures bearable.

This is the one of the few classes that I actually attend. She is the only prof that can hold my attention for 2.5 hours. The lectures are fun and interesting, the exams are reasonable, and the text doesn't put me in a coma. I recommend that you take psych with this prof! She is really great...I wish she taught all my courses!

Dr. Mongrain was great, so funny and cute! She's a practicing psychologist so she really knows her stuff; however, she?s not hard. She?s very helpful and straight forward, as are her lectures. This is an interesting course. To do well you have to read the textbook. The book is interesting and easy to understand! =) The only problem is that you're required to read a lot. I'd highly recommend Prof Mongrain's class. Exams are all VERY fair - take notes, read the textbook, memorize her slides and you'll have yourself an A (or maybe even an A+!) ... too bad she doesn't teach any other courses.

Very good Prof. Content in course is a lot, so you need to read and study the lecture notes as well as the text!. You must attend lectures, as she shows movies and videos that are not on the lecture notes, but are on the exams. Over all, great course, great prof. But study hard

Great Proff to introduce students to the subject of Psychology, I'm in my 4th year and still fondly remember her class. She puts up notes and has very engaging lectures. The tests are straightforward, and you will not be bored in class.

Mongrain was one of the best profs I've had by far! She's really enthusiastic and friendly, and she speaks with such clarity, there's no way you could possibly not understand. However*, do not slack off in her class, because the multiple choice were tough (60% class average).Also, a successful student would extensively both review lecture material and memorize details from the book. The best thing about Prof. Mongrain is how she gives the best SECOND chances with the tests she gives. She does lecture recordings so there's no worries when you miss a class. It's still better if you go to class though. Just follow her slides and which topic she's in in the book and you'll do fine.

Great professor who really has a passion for what she teaches. Her lectures are punctuated by personal anecdotes and gives many examples to explain concepts. This year, she gave split tests on two days and takes marks from best 2 out of 4 sections. This makes it easy to score high marks!

She records lectures and posts powerpoint on Moodle. Midterms are easy if you listen to her lectures and go through her powerpoints. Overall she is a great professor.

Awesome professor, tests are not that hard as long as you show up for the lectures, lectures were always super interesting, gave plenty of examples for things discussed in class, basically the ideal prof. Easily my favourite professor this year by far, she set the bar pretty high for any other professor that I may have for psychology in the future

Professor Mongrain is one of the best I have had.. She spends her time making sure each student grasps the material to the best of their ability and provides extras (clickers, URPPs) to help boost our overall mark in the class. The material was easy to understand and going to every class helps a bunch with this process.

Her tests are not very difficult as long as you read the textbook and pay attention to her lectures; she usually includes short answers on her slides. She's good! 90's on test are more than achievable! Pay attention to small details about famous experiments and DO the practice questions at the end of each chapter! Some questions were taken from there word-for-word and used on tests and exams! Super easy I got bored near the end of the year.

Prof mongrain is actually one of the most thoughtful profs at york. She genuinely wants you to receive the best grade possible. In my year 15/16 we were tested twice for each of the 4 major tests and the best of both would go towards our grade ! So there was always a second chance if you know you screwed up ! its easy if you take notes of the text!

She's absolutely amazing. I took Psych 1010 with her last year and she was absolutely amazing. Her exams were MC and short answer but she would give the same exam on Tuesdays and Thursdays and take the best grade for each section and that would be your final grade. Her lectures are also recorded!

I got a B by simply attending the lectures and not picking up the textbook once, imagine if I had done the readings also! Mrs, Myriam was a lit prof she always made us laugh some how and made the lecture intressting with the videos and stories. Her exams are pretty easy just make sure to actually read your text book and sections she tell you they literally come on the exam.

Prof. Mongrain is an excellent choice for Psyc 1010. She knows the content inside out and is a generally friendly person. She doesn't mind late attendance, she is understanding in that aspect. You DO need the textbook for certain test questions. One issue is that you could tell which chapters she wasn't interested in lecturing near the end.

Myriam was the first psychology prof I had and she is amazing. She's very funny and she cares so much about the well being of her students. We had lecture 2 days of the week so for the midterms we were allowed to write each one twice, the best grade being submitted. You'll do well if you go to lecture and READ THE TEXTBOOK pages she assigns.

Mongrain as a person is absolutely fantastic! However, as a professor she was ALWAYS late and lectures either ran over time or we didn't get to finish our slides. She puts lecture recordings on moodle so really you don't have to come to lectures. Tests are quite easy as well. She tends to ramble too much however and gets off subject.

Interesting prof, lectures are always fun to attend although she records and posts everything on moodle. Chances to get good grades, able to write each midterm twice, best grade gets used. Knows course material and genuinely loves psych which shows in lecture. 30 MC on tests comes from testbook, 2 SA comes from lectures on each midterm. Easy A.

You could take both for another chance or skip one if you're not ready. Plus she gave extra credit for polling in class. Outstanding prof I'd highly recommend. Watch out for the final though.

She was the best prof i've had at york, she really cared about the students and uploaded lectures online and her tests were composed of things almost exclusively from the lecture slides, tests were very fair.

Funny, caring, super informal (she blasts music before lecture), generally just a good prof. She gave us two tries on each exam and only counted the best grade... who else does that? Tests are simple, just study the text. The only thing is that she made lecture kinda boring (and it was 3h). But in every other way, she excels.

She makes lectures genuinely enjoyable. She's funny and super fair. Her exams are hard if you don't study. She's very clear on what you're expected to know though.

She's a very good and caring prof but I wasn't a huge fan of her lecture style. The class is pretty straightforward if you read the textbook.

She is awesome! Very eloquent and her lectures are very interesting. You just have to do your readings for tests and final exam and she is very generous and reasonable when it comes to grading. You have two attempts for her tests and the best mark counts. You should definitely consider taking her course, even if you're not a psyc major.

Prof. Mongrain is a great professor and her lectures are interesting. She doesnt rush through her slides and she speaks slowly so you can get all the concepts. It is easy to get a good grade in her class if you read the textbook AND go to her lecture.

Awesome prof and funny too. Her lectures were boring and not mandatory, only for participation marks and her grading scheme is very generous. 2 attempts for each midterm (3 midterms) and best one is chosen. If you read everything from the textbook and have a good understanding of it, it is an easy A. Also memorize her slides for the short answers!

This class was insanely easy! We had 2 opportunities to write each midterm with the highest mark being the one we received. 4% of the grade came from taking part in research and a bonus 5% came from reef participation (total marks added up to 105%), basically a free 9%. Prof also recorded her lectures (which would often get off topic but whatever).

she's a good prof though she can easily get distracted while lecturing. you have 2 chances for every midterm which is awesome. you get extra credit for urpp and reef. attendance is not necessary since she records every lecture. stick to the textbook, her slides and recording and you're good to go

she's pretty good at outlining very specifically what you need to know on the exams, you just have to make sure you do it. she uses iClicker for participation (marks) and attendance so you could just log in if you didnt go to class and try to answer the questions. she was funny, made the class fun.

She is so caring and teaches really well. This is my favourite course at York so far and her tests are relatively easy as long as you pay attention to her lectures. I barely use the textbook (kind of don't use it at all) and yet I'm doing well, considering her class average is usually 65 so I'm a bit above that. She also posts recordings

She gives 2 chances to take each MidTerm, and keeps the better grade. All her lectures are recorded and posted on Moodle, so you can skip class and just watch the Lectures at your leisure. She follows the TextBook, and explains the material in an easily understandable way. Her Tests are fairly easy (30 MC, 2 SA), and she is a fantastic teacher.

Professor Mongrain is an excellent professor that makes concepts well known to the class. Heavy reading for the course. The exam is about 50% in class content and 50% textbook. She gives you a chance to write the midterm twice, which helps a whole lot.

Dr Mongrain gives many opportunities for success: URPP, test redos, iClicker, non-cumulative tests. The material is easy and there isn't too much. Dr Mongrain is interesting but slow when lecturing, so I just put 2x speed on her recordings. She tries to minimize students' stress before tests. I strongly suggest taking her class, she's wonderful!

she literally made my first year way easier at York. Even if you don't make it to the lectures she records and uploads them so as long as you do the readings and now what you're studying for you'll get a good grade.

She is an amazing prof. She simplifies the material in her lectures as much as she can. Reading the text is important part of the class. Bonus marks for attendance. She is very generous with exams i.e. best midterm mark out of two attempts for each midterm. Overall, the best class I had so far in my experience.

Mongrain is an amazing professor. Her lectures are always extremely interesting and she teaches the material well. The textbook is definitely necessary if you want to do extremely good, and attending her lectures also helps a lot. She records her lectures, so even if you don't go you can use the recordings. This prof knows her material she knows exactly what she's teaching and if you just follow along, read the lecture materials and ask questions when you need to, you'll be fine. Professor Mongrain was my favourite Professor at York by far! She is amazing and has so much care for her students. Its important to attend lectures if you intend to do well, but she makes them very interesting and fun. She gives you a clear understanding of what is needed for success in her class.

Mongrain was really cool, in general very informative. Every once in a while she'll say something unexpected and it's hilarious, and I really enjoyed the lectures I went to! There was a lot of textbook reading, but that's common in university courses. There are only 4 assessments too, which is nice to be able to direct focus better.

Professor Mongrain is really passionate about psychology and she has experience on the field she is able to regularly draw on to support her lectures and make abstract concepts easier to understand. She is hilarious, caring, and does an amazing job letting us know what we need to do to succeed. Her lectures are fun and interesting. 100% recommend.

Her midterms/exam are mostly based off the lectures, but you should read the textbook because she does include some stuff that aren't covered in the lecture. Myriam Mongrain is an incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, passionate, hilarious and caring lecturer/professor. She also tries to make the tests as simple as she can. The textbook is necessary but I would recommend focusing on the concept charts, critical thinking and personal application sections for the tests.

Dr. Mongrain is by far the best professor at York! She made Psychology both entertaining and engaging that I would look forward to each and every single one of her lectures! She is extremely knowledgable and wise and definitely someone to look up to. The course does require a lot of reading, but if you put in the effort you can get a great mark.

Probably my favourite professor at York so far- she is informative, organized, and clearly passionate about the subject. While it wasn't a difficult course to do well in [easy marking], her teaching made me actually enjoy coming to class and want to engage with the material, as opposed to just inhaling the textbook.

She's very passionate about what she teaches in lectures, never felt bored listening to her speak. Lectures were more like you were listening to someone in a conversation than someone telling you information.

She teaches with much enthusiasm, explains everything really well, and starts each class with a song that matches the vibe for the day. What more could you ask for? The course is also amazing with just 3 midterms (all MCQ) and the final exam (mostly MCQ + a couple of short answers). Absolutely recommend!

Mongrain is such a kind and caring professor! I had her for Introduction to Psychology, and there are only 3 midterms and a final exam, no assignments. The assesments are very easy as long as you read the textbook and listen to/watch the lectures. Lecture recordings are posted online. The textbook takes a long time to read but is interesting.

A very passionate prof and easy to understand. Your final mark is determined by only 3 midterms and one final exam. The exams are very text book info heavy so you HAVE to read each chapter, however it was easy if you understand what you are reading.

She was a lovely and exciting professor! However, She tends to talk on the same slide for a long time, rushing to the end. Her exams were straight to the point with no surprises. You can get by without doing the readings depending on how active you are in lectures but the readings did make the chances of getting a good grade higher.

Tests were very straightforward, not many surprises if you pay attention during lectures and do the readings! The readings can be pretty long. She does tend to spend a long time on certain slides and then rush right at the end of the lecture, but overall an engaging prof.

Mongrain's lectures are very engaging and she explains and talks about the topics instead of just reading off the lecture slides like most profs. She also provides you with a lot of options for tests as it is a test-heavy class, to give you the best chance of success. She also explains topics in a way thats easy to understand and grasp.

She's a very talky professor (in a good way! she has a podcast voice) but she explains the materials very well and go over stuff that might be on the exams I love her music before starting the class because it wakes you up (it also mostly relates to the lecture and she play bangers!) PS reading the tb is already helpful or watching her lect alone!

Prof Mongrain is one of the best professors. We had three midterms and a final. For all three midterms we were given two chances and the chance we did better on was the grade she counted towards our final mark. Midterms were 25 multiple choice and 2 short answers. The final exam was great too.

Prof Mongrain is such a good lecturer, however you really need to focus to grasp the bigger picture. Read the Textbook, because many test questions are from the book not lectures. Overall not a difficult course but requires alot of studying! The second semester material gets really interesting. Put in the effort and an A is achievable!

Know the textbook and all in-lecture concepts just by attending classes and rewatching the videos. Gave many options for students to do well.

memorize lecture slides and taking notes on the textbook. her test format is one test given on tuesday and thursday and you get the higher grade from the two. i would suggest doing both (sometimes i scored higher on the first test lol). pay attention to the application and critical parts of the txtbk as some questions were very specific from there.

As a first year class, it was very simple. She gave you two chances to do midterms, so even if you did bad on the first one, she takes the highest grade from the 2 attempts. The only "issue" I had was that she sometimes went off track or talked about something too long even though we got the point. But overall she is great prof.

She's chill. Da lectures were kinda long ngl and there's been few times I've slept in it. If u missed a lecture dw it's recorded. Her email replies could come off as cold, but she responds to emails very quickly. Her lectures were engaging and the testing criteria were fair. I learned a lot from this course in my first year and still remember the information I learned from it, even as a current second-year student. Make sure to focus on the textbook and the class examples.

It's a very easy course, you literally can't go wrong with any professor teaching this course. She records her lectures so you don't need to attend, regardless lectures are useless just read the textbook and you will get 90+ on all the exams. Only issue are the short answer questions so you kind of do need to memorize certain things, but it's easy!

Don't mistake PSYC1010 for a bird course. The material isn't difficult but there is a lot to cover so stay on top of the reading. Tests are generous/fair + you get two chances to write. She provides accurate outlines of what you need to study for midterms Accessible/answers emails quickly. If you need PSYC1010, Dr Mongrain is an excellent choice!

Prof Mongrain is definitely more than fair. Midterms and Exams for psyc1010 are mostly lecture material but you should also read the textbook to ensure a better mark. The only thing is the lecture slides are very minimal info, you have to take notes of what she says just as much as off the slides, which isnt all that bad, you get used to it.

prof mongrain had very interesting lectures that made it fun and easy to learn new material. the exams were also very easy as long as you studied all your lecture notes and a good amount of the textbook material. if you took a psych class in high school, psyc 1010 will be a breeze as most of the content was review. great prof!

All her lectures are recorded and the textbook isn't super lengthy. She makes the content easy to understand and digestible. However she talks slow. Exam questions are not a surprise and there are no assignments.

Wonderful professor, her slides are alright. The extra examples she gives from personal experiences are always so helpful and stays back after class to answer questions. knows her stuff really well. She's a bit of a slow speaker. Midterms and exam were fine (2 short answers and all mc's), came from slides + reading.

Truly God bless this Prof. She is very understanding of her students, whether with extra extensions, trying to see what works best for everyone in class, her lectures are very interesting and clear. She even gave us the opportunity to take all midterms/tests twice and took the highest grade of each. I would 100% take her class again!!
