The worst professor I have ever had. I wish I dropped this class. Locks door if 2 minutes late unable to attend class if your late. Makes it hard for commuters wait isnt this a commuting school?

Great Teacher, I took him 2 years ago and got an F because I skipped class and did not study. Took him again went to class and studied got an A. Be on time Do the extra credit and Study with the study guide he gives and he is a piece of cake.
WORST EVER! AVIOD AT ALL COST - Study guide will NOT help you!!! He decided to use a different book than ALL the other MKTG 311 teachers (who all met and picked one together).. So if you do have to drop dont count on being able to use the same book when u retake the course!
Very nice professor. A bit off kilter as many Dr.s can be. Must be prompt to class, but no longer locks doors. If groups are late, he understands. Very straight forward. Tests from notes and study guide. I would take again.
A very easy teacher only if you take good notes. The book is good to go along with his lectures and he skips half the chapters during lectures and does not test on them. A very easy professor. Grading is a little harsh however.
IF you take good notes and talk to him after class about those notes, you shouldn't have a problem. That is what helps my grade.
Easy teacher and easy class if you take good notes and attend class regulary! Most of test questions come from notes and letures.
Don't let him scare you to start with, he is actually a nice guy and gives pretty interesting lectures. The tests are easy if you go to class and take good notes. There is no final exam. I would highly recommend him.

A very easy teacher. Just show up to class every day and take good notes to get an "A" in the class. He does not lock the doors anymore-and he is more relaxed about tardies and etc. Just remember to go over your notes alot-and you will be fine in the class! A great professor!
Dr. Glassman is a breeze. He is definitely a stickler for tardiness, so don't be late. His test questions are almost 90% from his lecture. I only studied from lecture notes and I got a B+ in his class. I studied the night before the test & got B's every time. Straightforward test. No surprises. Would definitely recommend.
This professor really knows his stuff and is able to explain it well, using real life experiences or everyday things. He is a stickler for tardiness, so be on time. Sometimes his test are more from the book than from the lecture. Read the book and read your notes, you should be fine. Do the extra credit assignment.

super easy...he lays out everything you need to do,so just do it and you'll get an A...all his lectures are rehearsed from memory and he recites them the same each semester.

Worst business prof I had at ODU. How do you make intro to MARKETING complicated?! He manages to find a way. Told everyone I know to avoid him. Distasteful comments, very unapproachable, tests made way too hard considering the simple nature of the material.

I'm a student with a very hard working student and i try so hard in this class. The class seems easy , but the tests seem to kill... no matter how much i study!
this marketing research class was no joke! it wasn't bad though. project was demanding, but he helped you along the way if you worked throughout the semester like you are SUPPOSE to. if you READ the book, you should be fine on the tests! if you skip class and don't read or pay attention, that's your fault, not the professor's.
The class seems easy, but the tests are very hard. He tests on things he talks about in class, often asking about specific things he mentioned, so you need to go to class and take a lot of notes or you'll miss a lot on the tests.
Dr. Glassman is a serious guy, perhaps a bit too serious for an intro class. I rarely have studied in the past for any other business class including macro/microeconomics or business management and I have never had a problem passing with that technique until this class. Good teacher though if you want an in depth on marketing for an intro class.
This Teacher gives clartiy and very good examples however, the only thing you're graded on are teste and his test are HARD, straight forward material but the test gives no hope. Unless you know the magic formula then you're better off with another professor.

No matter what you did, it was IMPOSSIBLE to do well in this class. I have never studied harder in my life. My study guides were pages and pages and pages long for just ONE test. We only had to take the final if we wanted to boost our grade and nearly EVERYONE was there asking, "So, what do you have to get on this test in order to pass the class?"
The man has all of the bases covered. He will tell you what's on the board is on the test. He'll say come to his office for help. He's even funny. Crystal clear lectures. Muddy clear tests. He is much MUCH more difficult than his easiness rating here would suggest. Average grades on all tests were 62 and anything below 67 is fail. How does ODU let him do that? For an intro class no-less. Don't make the same mistake I did and take someone else

It was hard in the beginning:I got 75 and 72 on the first 2 tests.(my GPA is 3.92) He gives a lot of questions on the test like: "according to what I said in lecture..." Use the TAPE RECORDER !!! and listen to all the lectures at least ones and read the notes! I got high A on the 3rd, 4th and final tests! And final A...
Dr. Glassman gets the information across, but not in an interesting way. The class in kind of boring, but if try hard to pay attention you can do pretty good in there. One thing against him, he doesn't help go over anything before the test, he tells you there is a test and then says "good luck", that's it.
Easily the worst teacher Ive ever had. The exams had questions that were not covered in class or in the book. He is very very tricky, I studied hard for this class and got nothin. A C+. I mean I worked A TON. Rediculous tests. :(
One of the worst professors I've ever had. He ruined marketing for me. Take anyone else because after taking his class I wonder if I'll ever laugh again. For the rest of my career I will detest the marketing folks because of him. I apologize for this in advance.
I already posted, but I wanted to make something clear. He does test from the lecture, but a lot of his questions have nothing to do with the material. He would have a question like, "The company I made up sells what?" a. widgets b. whatchamacallits c. floo flures d. all of the above e. none of the above. How the heck does that relate to marketing?
I had prof glassman a few semesters ago, but he was *such* a terrible prof I decided to come back every semester to post again. DON'T TAKE HIM! if other classes are full wait until next semester even if it means you'll graduate a semester later. You'll thank me for this!
Took him this past Spring semester. did understand nothing he talked about tells us to read the book before class does not really clarfy what it was about all test questions for lecture nothing from book no power points if take better pay real close attention but i recommmand someone else
Tests are ridiculous! If you study for hours and hours and you know the stuff by heart you are still going to probably get a 75 at most on tests!! I felt like I got atleast 90s on all tests but ended up getting 70s, 60s, and even 50s... He does give you a pump up exam which was cool but it was just as hard as the other tests. I donot recommend him
He is the one who never cares for students, cold-blooded old guy with no heart and intention to help you out. Never willing to help, Just sleep on his tenure. Avoid him at all costs if you can. I will come back to post him each semester. Glassman deserves an F as a teacher. He is not here to help you to learn but kills your confidence and dignity.
He is a jerk complaining and blaming all the time. He is desperate to pass on his negative attitude to his students. Your grades will be affected if he is not in the good mood. Try to avoid him by all means. You won't learn any thing from him. I'm wondering why ODU keeps him. The tenure system is to blame.
This man should have retired/ been relieved of his duties at ODU years ago. He couldnt be less helpful if he were mute and deaf. I didn't read the text at all but focused on every detail said in class, it helps to print out the powerpoint. I crammed the night before each test and got above 100% on every test. Marketing is my major though so I have the advantage of being really interested in it. He has a strange sense of humor and uses examples from 40 years ago though.
Myron Glassman is overall a good professor. However, when it comes to test time, expect to do terrible no matter how much you study. I have been to all classes, recorded lectures and taken great notes, I just can not do well on his tests. If you want to take a class that you learn a lot of material, take this course. Do not take it for your GPA.
Do not take this class if you want an A. He is a knowledgeable man, but the tests are impossible. I can walk out of the test thinking I did good and end up with a 60. The curve saved my grade. He has a ridiculous attendance policy. If you come in late, you will be punished, but if you don't show up no one will know.
DO NOT TAKE this man. Please note that my warning goes beyond "avoid".. he is a GPA killer. he is petty with unreal expectations. his ineptness as an educator is so widespread that the mere mention of his name at ODU's school of business will beget dozens of horror stories that will validate my opinion. *COSTS NOT WORTH THE BENEFITS*
I am a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and I have a 3.75 GPA. Obviously I?m a good student, and I know how to study and maintain good grades. First two test = F and D. He is an egocentric jerk who has no desire to help his students! I had to drop the class to avoid killing my GPA. HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! WORST TEACHER EVER!
Dr. Glassman is the most cold hearted, unfair professor I've had at ODU, and tries to be. The lowest grades I've ever recieved. You'll study like crazy and get 60's. My first impression was he had pretty good lectures, then I got one of his impossible tests and realized I was in for it. About 50% material comes from powerpoints/text, the oth50% comes from...who knows. There are no pre/post test reviews+you do 15 WSJ reports for 5% of your grade, which you will need. It's rough. Got a C-, and worked hard for it
Dr. Glassman is great. He knows his stuff & gives plenty of examples in his lectures to help you relate the information as much as possible. His tests are only challenging if you don't show up for class, read the chapters & study. He's a bit quirky with some dry jokes but he'll get a chuckle out of you. If you want to learn MKTG, this is your guy!
I can honestly say that studying is a complete waste of time for this class. I've attended each and every one of his classes, I've taken notes on basically every word that came out of his mouth. I studied for hours. But for some reason unknown to man, my test scores were a 74 and a 77. A C is okay, but that's not a grade for those who are committed
The most vain and snobbish psuedo-intellectual that I have ever dealt with. Expect for him to make rash assumptions and judge you based on his superior knowledge of all things. Prepare to have your dreams frozen and then crushed with an ice pick.
Listen if you are still taking his class after reading all these reviews, you deserve everything you get. You won't learn anything from him. His tests are unreasonable and your grades will suffer. He is the perfect example of the problem with the tenure system.

He teaches very well. Be sure to copy down all examples he talks about as well as any sidenotes he may have. Test are not hard at all if you pay close attention in class and take plenty of notes. Requires a current event assignment and subscription to the Wall Street Journal. Abides by classroom policie and is strict about upholding them.
Dr. Glassman is a GREAT professor. I loved his class, he keeps the class interesting with his corny jokes and real life experiences. If you pay attention, take good notes and attendance is MANDATORY to get a good grade on tests. If you are not serious about college don't waiste his or your time.

Tests are ridiculous. Uses one off words and choices that you will need a dictionary to look up to confuse students. Why? Not a marketing major but as a senior i have taken enough tests to know the difference between when the material is hard and when the teacher is purposely trying to be a jerk.
I respect the man and I studied really hard for my tests. I studied all of the slides and the book in depth, but his tests were very hard. I would not recommend him as a professor. The professor put questions on the pump up exam from previous tests, but I did not receive any feedback on them, which is why I barely passed the exam.
I have to admit, I did learn a lot of information about marketing from this class; however, my grades do not reflect this fact. I rewatched the lectures, wrote study notes, and read (and read, read, read) my powerpoints and book before tests and did not make above a C on the tests. Luckily, through test analyses, extra points were awarded.
I have never, ever failed a test before taking this class. The teacher is fun to listen to, but the exams are insane. We were expected to learn 7 chapters for the first exam with the others expected to follow the same format. If you care about your GPA, choose a different class.
Purely lectured based teacher. Four M/C tests basically comprise your grade. Book not really needed as power points are usually all you need to study and get a B.

This class is as hard as you make it. I took it as a live-stream class, however Dr. Glassman does not require attendance. You can just watch the archives but you HAVE to discipline yourself. He explicitly states in lectures what will and won't be in the test. Just make a study guide and you'll be set.

Dr. Glassman was an awesome professor! As long as you review the powerpoints and go to class, you will do just fine! The Wall Street Journal assignment is to write 20 articles from the WSJ. That may seem like a lot, but it is not! Once you get going it is a breeze. He is truly a great professor. People have totally underestimated him on here.
Definitely the worst marketing professor ODU has ever seen. He has no study materials and no homework assignments to boost your grade. His tests do not relate to the material. I have re-watched his videos over and over with all my notes and still could not get a decent grade. If you hope to pass this class pick another instructor. You'll thank me.
Worst marketing professor ever. His tests have 2 or 3 right answers for questions and you still have to decide. No matter how hard you study you most like wont be getting at least above a C. After taking this class my Marketing adviser sad he shouldn't be teaching!
class is easy do the wsj stuff. and ec. go to class! optional for ttk but listening to this man talk over a static power point will put a tweaker in the middle of a week long bender to bed in seconds.

Giant waste of time, lectures are long, extremely boring, filled with fluff. He will go off on tangents for 10-15 minutes at a time, repeat little things over and over again, then not spend any time on bigger more important topics. Does not follow any textbook, so don't expect to supplement lecture notes with anything. Will not take him again.
I had a 3.8 GPA before taking this class. His tests are absolutely ludicrous. He stresses points in his lectures, then uses one off words which left me confused and bewildered. He does not offer the opportunity to see pervious tests to see where the confusion was. Worst professor I have EVER had. DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN FOR ANY CLASS.
Dr. Glassman's class had very long lectures that were online. When reading syllabus, it states two textbooks that you decide on one of them to use for the class. The tests compile of multiple choice and true or false but they are somewhat difficult to understand (wording not so great). During lectures, he does tend to go off topic easily.
Took Glassman's MKTG 311 online course--the first time it's been administered online, I believe. He used a third party service called 'ProctorU' where a live person will watch you (literally) via webcam take the Blackboard tests. Tests are tricky, but he curved, so he's fair. ProctorU was cumbersome and created an unnecessary logistical hassle.
Five exams. Drops one. 420 total points. Grades on a point scale. If you don't pass, w a 85; the other 4 exams then you will fail his class. His exams are no open notes or no open book. Better memorize 6-8 chapters at a time. His material is 15 yrs old. I would not recommend taking his class if you want to have a good GPA. Uses Proctor U
Do not take this man's class. His lecture videos drone on forever with very little useful content. .I've watched and re-watched them and still haven't scored above an 80 on a test. It's hard to siphon through the piles of minutia slathered on top of the actual information because he is so boring. Please do yourself a favor and pick someone else.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS CLASS. His lectures are way too long with no clear content and his tests are awful. Although, he usually curves the test grades this class is still hard to pass.
He said everything you need I provided through letures, then middle of semester he says read the textbook. I was 0.4 point way from a C, I explained to him that I work full time and a full time student but he didn't care and would not give me an extra credit assigment to get 0.4 point. It was not even a whole point. He's not a nice person at all.
Dr. G was very clear on what he expected. He gives you actual exam question stems which correspond with his lectures. Answer the questions ahead of time and memorize for an easy A on exams. 99% of exam questions were from those stems, drops the lowest exam grade. Don't procrastinate on WSJ assignments, easy grading you just need to do them.
If you want an F... Take this class. I'm a pretty good student, and I failed this class. The test are IMPOSSIBLE to pass.
Lacks substance in lectures. Not always certain whether you're taken a marketing class. Furnishes pp. slides that mean nothing. Exams administered through Proctor U. Difficult to challenge exam(?)s, bc you're unable to have writing materials during exams. And he knows that! If I were to do again, for sure not with him. Worthless time waster.
Old school Prof. No extra credit. 5 Test and drops lowest Test grade. Study his module videos and answer his STEM questions. Take another professor if you can as your GPA will suffer due to the VERY hard test questions.
This is a setup for failure. The stems are impossible to answer with his undecipherable power-points. I met with him several times during office hours for additional teaching, but he did nothing. He was not helpful, offering no guidance in the right direction.
EASY A! It is a class purely about memorization. He basically gives you the test questions as a study guide. No Textbook needed. PRO TIPS 1-Start a G docs and collab with classmates on the Study guide.. 2- Start on the Current Events asap & He sends out emails with inspirational quotes-- genuinely nice guy!
I liked Dr. Glassman's online marketing 311 class. He had great PLE lectures. You have to study them, but you don't need to buy a book. You have to put the work in, but he gives you all of the information you need.
As someone who has a passion for business and marketing, I was disappointed by this course. The lectures were great, but plan to spend ALOT of time on them. Be sure to take notes on EVERY detail and example he gives. The tests are short but extremely hard. I am an A student and never received above a C on the tests. This class hurt my good GPA.
This class really is not that terrible and the lectures are long but interesting. He's very fair and gives extra points if he feels he made a test too difficult. The WSJ project is time consuming but do it, easy 20 pts. Join getstudyroom website, collaborate with fellow classmates, and use past semester resources, you'll do just fine.
Prof. Glassman has a great personality and tries to make the lectures sound less boring. While I wish there were more hw opportunities and less exams, he tries to give good exam study guides to go by and his exams are straight from his lectures. I love Glassman's sense of humor. This is a tough class and I don't recommend if it's your first semester at ODU. I had to take his class twice because I got a C- the first go around and I need a C to move forward. You definitely have to put work into this class, but he's not a bad professor. He's a smart-elic, but I liked it.
I had to drop this online class because his lectures were too unfocused. They would have made sense if it were an in-class lecture but because they were not, they were too far off tangent. He says you don't need the book but you probably do because it's a waste of time to listen to his online lectures.
He is fine, just pay attention to the study guides and the PLE videos. You will be fine and get an easy A or B depending on your commitment. But i didn't read at all and i got a B+, don't let other people scare you off. Get him online and it will be fine.
Dr. Glassman has an odd sense of humor, but overall a nice guy. You'll have to work hard for your grade! No need to take notes, just print out the module transcripts which displays everything he said during the powerpoint slides. Make sure you know the transcripts well as the test questions comes straight from it. Some questions were worded tricky.
Learned a lot from this guy, I watched the videos on a faster speed bc he would just go on and on.. but super funny, very knowledgeable and his examples really help the material sink in. I hand wrote the notes, helps me comprehend better. His study guides are dead on. Would take again.
Prof. Glassman's class was a good class in my opinion. In this PLE lectures he used a lot of humor which helped me remember the content of the class. His tests (5 in total) require you to remember the examples he used for the terms, so if you pay attention it will help you a lot. You do not need to buy a textbook for this class.
The only reason I'm passing this class is due to studying with quizlet and studyblue. Prof. Glassman is NOT a good professor, his video lectures are long and boring, and his tests are only over the stories he tells during them. There is some extra credit and the 20 article summaries are ridiculous and 4% of the final grade. 10/10 not recommended
This professor is absolutely horrible. Your grade is purely based on tests and one research assignment that is only worth 20 points. His lecture videos are obnoxiously long and boring. His tests are extremely hard, and I wouldnt even bother asking him for advice to do good in his class because he will respond with a smart answer. Take anyone else!!
Listen to the lectures online at least once, preferably twice. There are some excellent study guides out there by former students, use them to study/guide your note-taking. There's no homework. Don't procrastinate on the CA assignment. Dr. G won't help you. He doesn't even reply to emails. But he does give you what you need to get an A.
Received my first final F ever because of this class. You only have 6 grades total throughout the semester, the professor will not help you at all, and his tests are all based on his story telling throughout the lectures and/or are opinion based question. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!
The professor can be funny but very annoying at times when you just want to get through the lecture without all the extra stuff. There are no homework assignments and the only extra credit offered was to complete some kind of study they were doing. This class requires A LOT of studying and listening/reading. He does state that in the syllabus.
I am not a business major, but thoroughly enjoyed this class. Dr. Glassman's lectures are very very long but he clearly is knowledgeable and presents material in a way that makes it interesting. Do not take this class if you just expect to get an easy A from an online course. There is a significant work and time commitment to pass the class.
Dude graduated before 1976. Really makes you realize how dynamic marketing isn't. That witty comment being made, Myron Glassman is a great professor. Every other professor at ODU will tell you to shove it if you ask for their advice. I asked for advice from him and reassured confidence in me. You get the grade you deserve, put in the effort.
The class is not hard. It does require hours of studying, which he does state in the syllabus. The worse part about this class is listening to the lectures. They are very long and drawn out and waste a lot of unnecessary time. You MUST listen to the lecttures to pass. 5 test and 1 "research" assignment. Graded out of best 4 test.
I took him online. You need to be absolutely serious when you're taking this class. Hos tests are based off course videos and you can find flashcards online to aid you study. If you watch the videos once, you can expect a C. If you watch them all twice and take notes, you can get an A. It's not for everyone, but he's the best MKTG prof. at ODU.
Although he doesn't give out any actual homework, be prepared to study for his tests. You need to watch the lectures at least twice and take really specific notes on ALL of his examples. The class is hard especially if you do not study for the tests. Only one other assignment besides tests.
Hes horrible
Glassman is not as bad as people make him out to be. He's upfront about the difficulty level of the course. You have to watch his lectures tually listen to them. There's plenty of quizlets to help w/tests too. Glassman can be blunt, but he knows his material. Watch the lectures, do the WSJ assignment, complete the extra credit and you'll be ok.
The class is laid out for you in the syllabus. He drops your lowest test grade which saved me. There are plenty of Quizlets to help you study which were really helpful instead of watching the video lectures over and over. Overall it is not the hardest class I have ever taken.
This class was SO time consuming. He has lecture videos that are hours and hours and hours long. Modules take 4-5 hours. He makes terrible joke, talks about ice cream incessantly, once said "go ahead" 105 times in one module. I counted. I absolutely hated this class and you should not take it. Very test heavy so if you don't test well, stay away.
The only grades are tests. His lectures are so long and boring. He gets off topic on them a lot and tells so many personal stories that it is hard to stay interested. Quizlet saved me after I realized most of the questions were on there.
The lectures are very long and boring. He tends to ramble at some points and I'm glad that I had an option to speed up his voice. He only grades on tests, 1 assignment and an extra credit assignment. If you don't want to spend several hours on one class, I wouldn't take this class.
