Ms. Nari is a great teacher. She explains all the problems thoroughly, then puts you in groups to do classwork, she walks around to answer any questions. I really like the way she teaches. Homework is on the syllabus and she collects it every time there is an exam. Its very critical to go every day that way you dont miss anything. Easy A :)
Prof. Choi is awesome! I'm so glad I was able to take her. Her lecture methods are very helpful. She wants everyone to learn and is very caring. Can't miss a class. Highly Recommended!
Professor Choi is AWESOME! her lectures are really helpful, explains everything thoroughly! definitely recommend her. very caring and wants everyone to pass her class. she also gives good restaurant recommendations :) haha
MS. CHOI is a great professor. She explains every single part of whatever she is teaching. If you have a question just ask and ahe will gladly help. I am terrible at math but I learned so much from her. Even got great scores on exams because of her teachings.
If you want a teacher you can understand easily and isn't mean when you ask questions, she is your teacher. She provides the notes so you don't have to, which takes off a lot of the work load. and bomb af
This is one of the best teachers I have had and really nice. She explains the work really clear. She also takes time to to help you one on one during class work. She hands out notes which helps you focus on what she is explaining and makes it easier. She really cares about all her students as long as you show you want to pass.
Wonderful teacher. Although there has a lot of homework it helps the exam. She is so nice.
Best math teacher I have ever had!!!!! she does give a lot of homework but it covers everything that will be on the test. she makes sure everyone understands the material and day of quizzes will even have the first 15-20 mins as a review. She does review the day before the quiz and mostly all questions are on the test!
Best math teacher. If it's hard for u to love or understand math, take her! Gave lecture notes on worksheets already done for us, all we had to do was the steps (minimizes note taking hand cramps!). Goes through each prob thoroughly! Her technique really helped me stay engaged and understand each chapter. Hmwk is due each day of test.
Ms. Choi is an amazing teacher. She cares for all her students and wants everyone to pass. She does give a lot of homework but its all due on test days. She helps her students to understand all the material and reviews her exams.
Not my style of learning, lots of participation involving group work and presenting everyday for a math class?
Amazing teacher!Highly recommend this Professor. Her lectures are well taught I love how she makes you print out the notes, love how she uses a iPad to teach the class on how to do the math problems. easy homework! Very sweet, caring, and respected! Has clear grading criteria. Homework is easy she picks out the problems to do!
Hands down one of the if not the BEST math teacher ever!!! She is kind and has lots of patience. She helped me a lot. I have dyslexia and she took her time with me and when i was ready to quit she told me not to, she was going to help me and she did!!! I LOVE and RESPECT her; if you have a difficult time with math take her, you won't regret it !
Let me just say this is the first time I have ever received an A in Math. She is extremely organized, puts in a lot of work to provide typed lecture notes. Showing up to class is important so that you understand how to solve problems. She is funny and sweet and really makes sure you understand and wants you to get a good grade. Responsive by email
She is a great teacher. She takes the time to make notes for you, you just have to print them out to bring to class for each section. You spend more time trying to learn than copying the question down. Study the practice test and your notes and you'll be golden. She is AMAZING and she will work with you if you need to.
She is by far the most amazing teacher I've had so far. She takes her time and explains everything in details and gives feedbacks so very quickly. I would definitely take her again! You just have to print your own notes and practice exams and bring them to class to go over with the whole class. Study your notes and practice exam and you'll pass. :)
Honestly she is the best math professor I've had took YET at Elac! I took math 125 with her during winter semester and I passed with a C! (keep in mind I suck at math) I was very surprised at how great she is and she makes you understand. She gives feedback very quick, and always has your up-to-date grade on canvas! I loved her. 10/10 would recomme
She is one of the best teachers here at ELAC! I wish I could take her for stats, but it doesn't fit with my schedule :/ anyways... she was so nice and very helpful! she teaches very clear and her study guides are literally like the test so study it!!! I've always hated math because it's my weakest subject, but she made it a lot easier for me.
Hands down one of the best Professors I've ever had. The syllabus is very straight forward and so are her study guides! I took her for Math 125 & passed with an A. I'm currently taking her for Stats & am also doing very well in that class; needless to say, if you want to pass her class, DON'T SKIP CLASS, DO YOUR HW, AND STUDY STUDY STUDY! :)
Hands down the only teacher I want teaching me math. I was afraid of how many different aspects of math there is to cover, but I did not stress one bit with Nari Choi. She cares about her students and loves food enough to share her favorite places. If you want a modern, well spoken, highly educated teacher, look no further cause she's the best! :)
Professor Choi is an AMAZING Math Professor! She teaches with ease and is super patient with all of her students. You never have to take notes because she uploads them for you and you do them together as a class. There are 4 exams and the final. Please study the study guides cause test is very similar. Choi is a real Gem, caring, and patient. >>
I came into this class not knowing what to expect and Professor Choi has got to be the easiest math professor I have taken in my life! While she is easy, I believe that she lectures with great detail and gives the students time to understand the material. Her study guides are exactly the same as the tests, do homework, and attend class!
Professor Choi is an amazing professor. The material for Math 120 is pretty hard but with the help of professor Choi it is easier. She uses printable notes and there are a lot of theorems to keep in mind of. Plus the textbook is on pdf. LOVE THIS PROFESSOR CHOI <3
She really pushs for you to understand the material, shell go over problems if you have any questions. Has honest caring values for her students
Professor Choi is a really good professor. She is very clear on what you should expect on the exams and her lectures make it easy for you to understand the material. I would definitely recommend her class!
Very easy class if you truly try. There is no reason not to pass. She provides office hours and does test reviews and study guides. Will make sure everyone understands materials before moving on. Very caring teacher and makes an environment in which you aren't afraid to ask questions.
Great Professor. No textbook needed. For lecture she made handouts for us to print out as well as for the homework. For tests she gave us study guides very similar to tests. As long as you study you should be fine. She also replaced our lowest score with our highest. We never had any quizzes. She also offered extra credit in certain occasions!
Math was a breeze during professor Choi's class. I highly recommend taking an of her class. She is clear, patient, will guide you and wants everyone to pass.
Professor Choi was amazing and so sweet, Im not great at math I can tell you that, but I took her for winter which was a faster pace. I would totally recommend her for someone who needs to practice math everyday in order to understand it, I passed her class with a B and I couldnt be happier :)
math is my weakest subject. I fine math difficult , I took the class during the winter session which is only for a month but professor Choi was great, she made the subject understandable, her lecture along with her notes , helped me so much. she cares for her student, she wants all her student to do well. She answers her email even on the weekend
Professor Choi was amazing! When she printed out the notes for us I was beyond grateful. She took her time to explain in depth each component and broke down the math problems.
THE BEST math instructor at Elac. Patient, really wants students to learn. Makes math easy to understand. Goes step by step on how to solve math problems . Does not rush during class to teach the material. I was not afraid to ask questions. Homework load reasonable. She also gives study guide which helps for test. ELAC needs more instructors her.
I've taken her previously for Math 125. She is very good at explaining problems and gives visual examples. She makes notes for you to follow during her lecture and they're amazing when doing hw and studying for the test. She always gives out a study guide for the test and even drops your lowest score. She's the BEST math teacher on campus.
Professor Nari Choi is an amazing professor! She really cares about her students. She gives great notes and great study guides to prepare you for exams. Her notes are really helpful. She also offers extra credit. She is willing to help if you need additional help. Take her! You will not regret it. You will learn so much. Thank you Professor Choi!
Shes amazing. She gives you the notes so you can follow her during lectures. I took her for math 227 its such a stressful class but because of her i was able to understand everything. She also drops ur lowest test score that helps at the end of the semester. You will have to work for your grade. But shes amazing take her.
I'm anurse and need to advance to stats to move forward to my BSN so I needed math 125. I am terrible at math, not in nursing but in a math class. Mrs. Baek made me feel I could do it and while taking her entire course I felt like my dream would finally come true! Mrs. Baek cares & taught someone who is terrible at math, me! Ty Mrs. Baek
Probably one of my most favorite professors i ever had at a community college. Professor Choi is really engaging and tries to make it as easiest as possible for her students to pass her class. Prof Choi is well prepared with chapter and review notes for her class to help you succeed in her tests and exams, she also knows a lot of great restaurant
This is the best Professor at Elac, she provides the notes on canvas and you just need to print it and bring it to class to follow along. She goes over on what will be on each exam and drops the lowest grade on one exam. She's adorable and super sweet. People like her make me enjoy going to school and not feel any anxiety. No textbook needed.
Professor Choi, (NOW BAEK, because of marriage), amazing professor, lectures are so clear, no-book, very, very clear notes, relates the subject to real life situations. Homework is assigned, but you get the solutions, so take very good notes! they're tests and a final exam, kinda forgot whether we had a midterm or not but I don't recall taking one
Super awesome teacher! If you struggle with math, I'd highly recommend her. She's on top of everything, very organized. She gives super detailed notes and will always answer any questions. Just make sure you're able to print the worksheets and lecture notes. Homework is due day of the test, participation credit.
If you struggle in math, she explains it very thoroughly and genuinely cares for her students. She drops the lowest test grade and replaces it with your best. She's extremely nice and wants you to succeed. Amazing Professor. 10/10 would recommend!
Took her Spring 2020. She's a sweet and nice person. She made tons of retake exams which are great. Her teaching isn't phenomenal considering her 10+ years of experience. Just okay. Students print homework and lecture notes. Need to have a printer! Makes a lot of typo mistakes. She made a mistake on correcting my test too. Forgets things a lot.
She makes math easy, understandable, and very straightforward. The key to her lessons are the notes she gives us. She takes the time to make and print out the notes for us. I honestly had an easier time understanding math because of her notes; they're very organized and basically everything you'd need to know. I would only want to take her for math
Best math professor ever. Cared more about some of the students grades than they themselves did. Committed to your success. Lectures are crystal clear, I now have a new passion for math. Most importantly, I learned a lot and felt challenged to do better. Definitely taking her in the future.
One of the BEST professors at ELAC!!! If you aren't too well at Math I suggest to take her. Very understandable and patient. Test are really similar to the review. The homework is a lot but it helps with remembering the material. Her lectures are the best and the notes are really easy and understandable.
She is a great professor! you wont have to take notes as she already made work sheets available for her students that you simply fill out. this allows you to cover more material at a time and easy to come back to. She also records her zoom meetings so you can come back and watch previous lectures. Lots of extra credit too.
you need to do the homework, or you will not pass and i like about this teacher she helps jn her office hours and gives you allots of tips and prepair to write she gives good of notes
best professor at elac. all you need for this class is a printer. provides printable notes. Exam are based of hwk, lecture notes, and study guide. Use a proctor for exams. Caring professor. Makes you work for you grade. HIghly recommended.
I decide to take Stats with professor because she had really good rating.... her teaching skills are awful and always has typo in her lecture notes. Her homework is useless when it comes it studying so much work for nothing....
I decide to take professor choi for fall and let me just tell you she is so the most careless professor i have taken at elac... she doesn't care about her students passing not to mention she'll only provide extra opportunities until the very end of the semester and constantly has typos in her lecture notes. DON'T TAKE HER!!!!
If you struggle with math, I'd highly recommend her class. She explains things throughly. She provides her own lecture notes so make sure you have a printer! Lecture notes are easy to understand. Textbook not required. Typos here & there but we all make mistakes. Super passionate at what she does & cares for her students. Best professor at ELAC!!!
I have no idea what those others are talking about saying shes a bad teacher. The only way youre getting an F or a low grade because you dont pay attention in class and not doing your homework. I failed two math classes because the other teachers were horrible. Prof Choi Baek, not only a great math teacher, but shes a great teacher overall.
Don't even bother with this professor... if you struggle with math don't take her.
Great professor, take her! The only reason I didn't get an A was because of procrastination and my lack to study for the final exam. Lectures may get a bit boring but it's because she tries her best to cover everything and helps students as much as she can. The pandemic didn't stop her lecturing so greatly unlike other professors.
Best math professor at elac. She makes all the lectures interesting and fun. Take her if you're not a math person.
Professor Back is the best teacher I've ever had at ELAC! She prepares the notes for you so you just print them out and get to actually pay attention instead of just writing stuff down. She is super nice and caring. There is no way you will fail her class unless you really don't pay attention. She gives many opportunities for extra credit.
If you struggle with math or haven't taken math in a while, I recommend you take this teacher. She is amazing !!! The best math teacher I have ever had. I have seen some bad reviews on her but they don't make sense because she is very helpful and does care about her students passing her class. She does have some typos in lectures but she fixes it.
Not one of the bad reviews I've read make any sense to me, Professor Baek is easily one of the best math professors at ELAC! I am horrible at math, but I passed two of her classes due to her awesome lecturing, she breaks everything down to the point where I felt like the homework and exams were so easy. She really wants her students to succeed!!
Professor Baek makes math understandable. She really cares for students, and she provides you with the necessary tools to pass the class.
I took Professor Baek online for spring and let me tell you, She is the best Math Professor I have ever taken. She is kind, patient, and a phenomenal professor. Her lectures are engaging, and therapeutic. Her tests are based off of lecture notes and study guide. If you struggle with math please take her!!Easy grader, I bet on her! She is a gem
Honestly I dont know why some people think she a horrible professor. Honestly I believe she is the best math professor Ive ever taken.. she makes you feel really comfortable and wants you to engage your self to ask questions if needed. I took her summer online course which is around a month long and well worth it. To pass class do hw, studyguide
Professor Baek is hands down one of the best math professors. She's SUPER nice, caring, and organized. Notes are provided by her and they are very straightforward and easy to understand. I am so bad at math but she turned it into something super simple that it all made sense to me. All of us who took her appreciate her so much!
review that matters: shes nice and all but she is unwilling to offer flexibility. there's a lot of unnessesary hw and classwork. lets you retake one exam and avgs the lowest exam grade w the final but your grade is done if you mess up on the final. as a typical A student, I learned nothing. she made everything more difficult than needed. avoid !!
Amazing Professor! Very good lectures. The information delivery is clear. Great tutoring support!
Currently taking asynchronous for summer but she is an amazing professor! I was nervous, but her guided lecture notes are lifesavers & definitely teach a lot. Cons: exams are closed book and proctored, so you really have to know the material! If you do lecture notes & homework, you have a good chance at passing. Super kind, answers every question!
Professor Baek is an amazing instructor and makes sure she is clear and provides great examples for the problems. Math is not my strong subject but I was able to comprehend the material and do well in the class.
Took professor Baek MATH227S class. Her lectures and the time she takes to made the lectures and hw easy to understand and solve are just incredible. Missed the mark to earn an A due to rounding and time management during the last exam. Incredible professor, highly recommend her.
This is my 2nd time taking a class with Professor Baek, this time it was much harder because there was no live class meetings so I had to learn on my own. I recommend taking her online class if there is live meetings, if not you might not learn much. She is a great Professor though and she is super nice to her students.
So much work for very little amount of points. For exams she makes you download an app that records you and you have to share your screen. She expects you to remember 3 LONG chapters of work for 1 damn test. I'm so ready for this class to be over. Wish I dropped the class before the deadline. Honestly, taking this class made me want to quit school.
Professor Baek is the best math teacher I have ever taken! She truly cares about her students as well as the tutor Jimmy! Her lectures are fantastic and the notes really do help you understand the material she is teaching. I have not taken a math class since HS and I was nervous about this class at first, but she taught amazingly well. TAKE IT!
I took this online asynchronous, so I there were recorded lectures, notes, hw, and 3 exams + 1 cumulative final. A StatCrunch subscription is required, but she goes through how to use the platform in her lectures really well! There's A LOT of time-consuming writing for hw/notes, but the content itself isn't difficult to understand. She's so sweet!
I took this class along with Bio +lab for the summer & I was still able to pass with an A+ while finding it easy ! This professor teaches amazing and her lectures are so well-organized & effectively help you learn the material. Her study-guides (DO THEM), h.w, & discussion help so much & prepare you so well for exams if you just do the study.
Although Professor Baek is nice, the work is immensely challenging. Proctored exams are LONG, EXTREMELY difficult, and include multiple chapters. The final includes ALL chapters (1-12) which makes it impossible to memorize everything. This is the most stressful class I have ever taken. Not just from my experience, but many of my classmates as well.
I thought I was bad at math, but Professor Baek is just that good! She understands that math isn't everyone's strong suit and puts extra care into going over the material and answering any questions you need help with. You'll do great as long as you put in the effort - don't procrastinate. I cannot recommend this class enough!
By far one of the worst math classes I have taken. The test are proctored & the notes she had us do were 18 pages +. Exams.. she wants everything to a T to her standard. She honestly seems as she has no emotions or sympathy & no she does not allow any late work please steer clear of this course trust me it will be a automatic fail if not a W. RUN!
One of the most well-organized math classes I've taken. The lecture notes aren't even long.. she goes through the material step by step. Why would anyone want short notes that skip over important details? The exams are proctored, which I respect. If academic integrity bothers you, maybe that says more about you than the class.
Math215 She is a kind but tests are 90% of grade and proctored and not open note. For Math 215 open notes would only help students who actually put in time to learn what the notes actually translate to. Making it no open note isn't testing what I learned it's testing what I can remember. Probably good for other classes but for 215 she's bad.
- Links to lecture notes/the files of the lecture notes/homework sometimes aren't available when they're supposed to be. - Doesn't always respond to Canvas messages/emails when you have concerns. - Lecture notes consist of 20+ pages EACH - Exams are not open notes, formulas aren't even given. - Final exam is all chapters - Memory based class
Workload is heavy!! Teaches formulas that you definitely will not be using, and her teaching method is not good.
No open notes for the test, lectures are heavy, and be ready to print out a lot of pages. She is also hard to reach and doesn't respond promptly.
My peers complaining that the exams aren't open-notes is wild. This class is an EASY A if you do the most radical thing in college: study. She gives detailed study guides, and then *gasp* the exams are basically the same questions with different numbers. That's not cruelty. That's a gift. Study the guide. You'll be fine. Highly recommend.
I came on here to defend Professor Baek. Easiest A I got. She actually teaches the material and expects you to understand it. This is school, people! The point is to LEARN, not to whine that the exam isn't open-notes like life owes you an A. The study guide literally tells you everything. She's setting you up to succeed. How is this controversial?
I hadn't taken math in 24 years, and I was pretty nervous. Ms Baek's provided notes were clear and easy to follow. I ended up with a C, but I would've gotten a B if I did the extra credit. I'm still happy with my grade. This class was way less scary that I expected.
