Dr. Nita is the best ! She does get into details of biology but you need to pay attention to the examples when she explains as how to remember concepts. If you want to pass make sure you pay attention to what she says about the biology topics. Don't sleep in class and don't text messages on cell phone !!!
Heavy accent and boring. Materials are hard and difficult to follow.
After 3 weeks she put all the lecture powerpoints on moodle. Theres a total of 3 take home quizzes which have 10 attempts for each question. She offers 6 points of extra credit and there are 15 participation points but theyre achieved by watching videos and answering questions on moodle. The material is hard but she tries to make it really easy
Dr. Nita was an absolute character. Bad reviews of her are salty scrubs who don't understand how to college properly. She relates the X-men to her biology class all the time to spice it up. The SI sessions help A LOT and if you show up to both, easy A.
Dr. Nita is awesome. Shes new so shell assert her dominance early in the semester but then she chills out. Really easy w quizzes (you get lots of chances) and tests are easy. Gives extra credit. I used the book if i needed clarification. Dr. Nitas really funny though and keeps the class engaged. Takes attendance sometimes
Her lectures are kind of pointless and she is not easy to understand. The class itself is easy which is the only good thing.
She is truly amazing! Best biology teacher ever ! I now really want to take another higher level Bio course because of Dr. Nita! She discusses all interesting topics and encourages us to see documentaries that she posts which are so interesting!
Dr. Nita is the best ! She make bio easy for non majors plus interesting !
Very hard to understand. Tests are difficult because they are written more for bio majors. SI helped a little bit but the materials tested were very difficult.
Momma Nita is fantastic. I loved every second of listening to her lectures. If you don't show up, you'll probably fail unless you have prior biology knowledge.
Never used the textbook. Attendance didnt matter. Lectured straight from ppt that was posted on moodle even though she originally said it wouldnt be. Youll learn just as much being in class as not being in class. Overall she was nice and gave lots of easy extra credit/take home quizzes to help your grade.
Dr. Nita is the epitome of a generous and best teacher!!! There can be no one like her other than Mother Teresa.
She is a really good teacher, go to class and you will pass, she also shares all of her in class notes on moodle. One of the best teachers I ever took
Professor Nita had some pretty challenging exams. Theres no use in buying the textbook. She provides all the notes on Moodle. She also has a few take home quizzes on Moodle which are easy! Attendance isnt required but listening to her lectures helped me. She provided a lot of bonus points towards the end which brought me up a whole letter grade!
If you are looking for a general life science credit, this class is a good choice. Dr. Nita is a very nice teacher and helps ANY student that comes to her for help. My only warning is that Dr. Nita doesn't take kindly to any unwarranted noise or disruption during class. Don't do it. It just makes her mad and a mad professor is never a good thing.
Test are hard, but all notes are posted to Moodle. Gave enough bonus to bump you up two letter grades. Lectures are boring but not too bad. Don't buy the book.
Her exams are a little crazy, she tests on things she never talked about. You wont pass without SI. Go to si for sure. She made sure everyone ended up getting an OK grade, but it was a little much. You dont need the textbook but it certainly helps.
MAKES IT VERY DOABLE TO GET A GOOD GRADE. dont have to go to class, but u should. puts lectures on moodle but not everything u need to know for tests. TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT (23 pts to ur final grade). very caring and helpful. tons of point opportunities. moodle quizzes that are VERY easy. im awful at bio and got a B. TAKE HER!
Very nice prof. She is VERY interested in Bio, but she understands that we are taking it as a gen ed. You don't have to attend her lectures, but they can be helpful. She posts her powerpoints to moodle. Warning her tests are very weird and somewhat difficult but she gives SO much bonus its almost impossible not to get an A.
She is an amazing professor. She cares a lot about her students. She does do a surprise attendance quiz every once in a while, but it's online and she gives you a whole day or two to take it. Her exams are a little difficult, but as long as you do the extra credit and take the open-book participation quizzes you'll be okay.
Dr. Nita is the best. She really cares about all her students. At the time of COVID19, she was the only prof who really cared about her students grades and learning process.
Easiest class I have taken at LSU. Basically what everyone else has said. She gives enough extra credit that you can get 0 on on exam, like 40 on a second, and 100 on the third, and still get an A in the class. If you took bio in high school most concepts should be very familiar. She cares a lot for her students.
Dr. Nita is the best ! She is simply awesome. I loved her in-class lectures. She would make sure all her students understood the concepts. She also made us think critically. He r exams are hard but she gave us many attempts and extra credits to help us get a good grade. I learnt more in her class than any other professor.
I only wouldn't want to take the class again because bio isn't my strong suit. But Dr. Nita is really funny and tries to keep everyone interested during the lecture. She uses a lot of video media to help everyone understand. Don't buy the textbook, she uses slides from it in class. Going to class for the lectures is worth it.
Mrs. Bhattacharyya was an okay teacher. It was her first year teaching when I took her and it showed. We had to buy the textbook, but never used it. Her lectures took up the entire class and her tests were hard. Nobody was passing so she offered extra credit to make up for it. I had a D+, EC brought it up to a B+. Great person, okay teacher.
The best professor and the best class. She made me love biology! I would take her class over and over if I had to. Explains content so well.
Really nice and cares about her students. Gives up to 3 or 4 chances on exams. No homework or quizzes. We only did zoom once a week out of the two days. She gives multiple bonus opportunities and makes the class really easy to pass because she understands its a class for non-biology majors. no textbook.
She is the only professor which made me like Biology. I felt like doing more biology related work and activities after attending her class. It was fun learning.
I love Dr. Nita. She explains so well. She is above and beyond! Please don't get lazy in her course. Take advantage of the three attempts in the exams and view all her lectures recordings!!! She explains so well...
Dr. Nita is a very nice professor. If you want a class that is almost a guaranteed A+, this is it.
Dr. Nita's class was one of my favorites. She really cares for the students and wants them to pass. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Her exams aren't super easy but are open book.
Great biology teacher! The test were easy, but there were videos on them that took a while to get through to get the answer. If you remember high school biology, it goes a long way in the class. The lectures I did attend werent terrible and she tries to engage with the students a lot. The lectures and everything you need are on Moodle and recorded
Dr Nita is one of my favorite professors at LSU. She genuinely cares about her students doing well and she is so generous and helpful especially considering how tough things can be with the pandemic and online classes. I took Bio 1001 last semester and am now in Bio 1002 with her again and she is really just a great professor and is so sweet.
This is probably the easiest class I've ever taken. The notes were very easy and simple, and Dr. Nita explains very well. There were participation quizzes that were extremely straightforward. The tests were super easy. If you aren't a science major and need a science credit, I'd definitely recommend taking Dr. Nita's class.
Dr. Nita is understanding- she gets that this is just a Gen-Ed, non-major Bio class and treats it like one. Exams are representative of the PowerPoints/lecture notes, and you get three attempts. Pay attention to due dates on moodle, and you're set. She cares, and is a MUST TAKE for Bio 1001/1002. Sincerely, a Comp Sci major.
Dr. Nita is such a sweet professor. The class was asynchronous, but still fairly easy and I'm not even that good at biology. The class mainly depended on participation quizzes and Dr. Nita also gave out extra credit. The only time we actually went to class was through Zoom on Mondays, but still passable without going.
She is awesome. I took her for both biology 1001 and 1002 and she was great. I would recommend everyone take her. She makes the class easy and as long as you do all your work it is the easiest A+ imaginable.
I loved this class! Each assignment had 3 attempts and everything you needed to know is in the recorded lectures and provided notes. The test questions were fun.
Professor Nita is honestly the best in the science department. She is so caring, understanding, and helpful. She wants every one of her students to pass. She will help guide you through any struggles you may have! I would recommend her to every single person!!
Dr. Nita is a very sweet and devoted professor. I do not enjoy biology, but I do enjoy being in her class. Good grades are easy to achieve if you put in any effort, and she always is open for you to email and ask questions. She is super helpful and I would definitely recommend her.
Dr. Nita gave us an option to come to in-person discussion or to class on zoom, which I liked although attendance isn't mandatory. Only two tests (midterm and final) which were on Moodle and she gave us 2 attempts for each one. There's also a quiz every week which you also get 2 attempts on. Loved Dr. Nita & taking her for BIOL 1002 next semester!
Best professor ever & easiest A you will ever get. She is so helpful & will communicate to you daily what needs to be done & offers optional inperson/zooms. She posts online lectures w/ notes & weekly quizzes. All of the weekly quizzes arent due til end of semester + u get 2 attempts per quiz & for midterm & final so no reason not to get an 100%.
I love Dr. Nita. She is a very easy-going teacher. The class was very easy and you only had to go in person if you wanted a review lesson. All of the chapters are pre-recorded and uploaded to moodle. I am taking her again next semester.
Dr. Nita is an angel on this earth. She realizes this class is for non-bio majors and she treats it as such. She always tries to relate biology to the rest of our majors and doesn't go too in depth. There are prerecorded lectures and one quiz almost every week then a midterm and final. As long as you watch the lectures, class isn't necessary.
This is literally the easiest class you can imagine. I did not go to a single class all year and finished with a A+. Every quiz and exam were open notebook and you can take it twice, seeing what you got wrong. Must take for the free A.
Amazing Professor!!
The class is very simple to follow, and the grades are very easy to do well on. It's mostly online lectures you can do at any time, with quiz and test questions essentially coming straight from these videos. If you need bio for a gen ed or whatever, Dr. Nita is probably the best and most relaxed professor you can get, heavily recommend.
Dr. Nita was the only professor who cared about all students in hybrid learning for her biol1001 large class ! She gave everyone the option to choose to come to class or zoom. To keep all in a common platform she gave pre-recorded lectures and pdf files of all the course content. I love her teaching style. Do not get lazy in completing the work
my bestfriend first semester. A gem. Easiest class ever and gets your bio cred out of the way. TAKE HER
This is byfar the easiest class I have taken at college so far, and one of the best and most understanding professors I have had. All of the homework/quizzes/tests are online, and while the lectures in class help, attendance is not required. She has been my recommendation for people across campus that need a science course for good reason.
Dr. Bhattacharrya was a very easy A for biology. I went to class once and it was the first class of the semester. She does weekly open note quizzes that you have two attempts on and the midterm and final are the same structure. She is very laid back and gave you the option to not come to class if you know the material.
You can take her class all online and it is super easy. There is a weekly homework and quiz, but she provides so many lectures to make sure you understand.
Dr. Nita is awesome! She care about her students even if they are non-major bio! She points out the reason why anyone should study BIOL! It is amazing how she connects students interests to the topics central dogma, mutations and gene expressions down to atoms and electrons! I loved it ! Her course is fun!
Love her so much
She is a very nice teacher and cares about her students. This class was very easy.
Professor Nita is AMAZING. She is so clear in what she wants you to do and if you do everything right and on time you are guaranteed at least an A. The class material is ok but she makes it fun. 110% take her.
100% would recommend! Shes real understanding and makes it easy for you to pass.
If you need a gen ed science, take Dr. Nita. She tries to make her lectures as interesting and easy to understand for non-biology major students. There's a midterm and final, unproctored on Moodle, and she gives you 2 untimed attempts. You have to somewhat participate in the Moodle lectures but if you miss there's extra credit at the end. Love her!
The best Biology Professor I ever had and was one of the easiest classes I took while at LSU. Such an easy A+ but I still learned a lot from her. She really cares about her students and makes an effort to make Biology interesting. 100% Recommend !!!
I really enjoyed having Dr. Nita. She used the flip classroom format when I took her class, so live zoom sessions reviewed the lectures posted online. Her class is flexible and she even included buffer weeks to get caught up on work. The lecture recordings were long, but you can speed them up. She gave open note tests and offered extra credit.
This class is pretty boring but the professor is nice. She lectures A LOT! I rely on quizlet to pass tests so.. there you have it.
I loved the class discussion in-person! Dr. N knows that she teaches non-maj bio. So she tries her best to support her students. She sometimes made fun models of biomolecule structures in classroom. I missed a few classes due to the heavy course load I have, but her detailed Panopto recordings really helped to make up, missed lectures!
Dr. Nita truly cares about her students. One thing I will say if you really want to learn come to class, discuss and view panoptos. Also make sure to pay attention in class and the topics in bio and her panoptos.
Dr. Nita a very nice person. Supports all her students who are in the course & seriously trying hard to learn bio! Loved the 3'OH model and the other biomolecules bringing them to life and connecting superheroes with gene expression! Beware Dr. Nita does not tolerate any nonsense from any students -do the Panopto recording/homework prior to class!
I came into this class with the idea that Nabanita was a good professor. However, I will say that it is quite the opposite. Her exams are NOTHING like the assignments that she posts on Pearson and last exam there were questions about the X-men. I wish I could make this up. Her English is straight-up atrocious. Please avoid this woman at all costs.
It is very interesting how Dr. Nita connects BIO with EVERYTHING, which actually makes so much sense! She provides Panopto recordings, worksheets as homework and uses class discussions to revise. Her instructions are clear and straight to the point. She tells you all the important information and learning the concepts important for the exam.
Dr.Nita is an extremely helpful when it comes to understanding biology in a simplified way for non-major biology. She connects superheroes to gene expression! Which is super fun, and interactive way to learn the material! But I must say you need to hear her lectures carefully like every second before coming to class.
Do not trust these reviews. This woman is a literal hamburger of a professor. If you want random questions about super heroes and stuff that was never talked about it class, go ahead. Genuinely one of the most idiotic professors at this school. If this lady holds a PH.D, you can do anything in life.
Yes trust your own judgment (IF YOU ARE CAPABLE and come to class and do your homework regularly)! I had dr. nita two semesters and she is great! Explains the material well and what to remember for exams. Very nice person! She blends textbook info with case studies in a concise way, that kept me interested in the subject and learning it for exams!
Absolutely love her teaching style, watched her Panopto recording alongside came to every class discussion. I loved learning all the case studies. I liked the concept of Epigenetics and how it can affect the way we express our genes to code proteins. I learnt a lot!. Dr. N is a real gem of a person!
Very willing to help you succeed
Dr. N is the best! I got that A- grade just by watching her panoptos recordings and solving the worksheets. I attended at least 80% of her class discussion, which helped to revise the material in Panoptos like every week. Love Dr. N teaching and she got me interested in epigenetics!
So I wouldnt necessarily give Nita a good review but I would give her a bad one either. Super nice lady, seems to care, but is also extremely hard to understand and there are many typos in her exams and assignments. Personally, would not take again. Just hard to follow along with.
Very nice lady, her lectures are online and she has class either in person or on zoom (your choice). She has three take home tests and three that are taken in Himes. The Himes tests are very difficult, but the take home tests average them out if you do awful. Be ready to spend hours studying for her tests, they are not easy.
Dr.Nita has been an amazing professor this year. Her lectures are accessible outside of the classroom and explains the content thoroughly. You do have the choice of going to class in person or through Zoom which is also a plus. As long as you keep up with the assignments and posted lectures you should be able to make a high grade in the class.
Dr. Nita is an intelligent and kind professor. As someone who is not strong in science classes, I did struggle in this course. I would not recommend this course to anyone who is not passionate about Biology or does not want to major in Biology, because it can be complex and difficult to understand unless you spend a week studying.
Dr. Nita is a passionate lecturer. In-class attendance is not required but trust me they are so so so helpful and informational. She is a great teacher and gives extra credit on almost all the big exams. She also has heavy assignments that are great to relieve exams you didn't do so well on.
the class is barely passable if you do not attend lectures, she does them in person & on zoom so GO. the material gets complicated w/out the lectures to make sense of them. the assignments u get multiple attempts. dr. nita is super sweet & understanding.
Dr. Nita is best teacher. Gives a through review of the materials in class discussion on Panopto lecture recording and .ppt slides. I will say this, do as she says and come for all class discussions all prepared with the Panopto lectures and you will ace the exams at the testing center. Her Assignments also helped with balancing the overall grades.
Dr. Nita posts all of her lectures on moodle and she is obviously very passionate about the topics. This made it very difficult for me because she was going severely in depth, so I had to very slowly take notes. Her exams were also very difficult for me, but she literally gave 30 "exam stress" points, which is how I managed to get a 97%.
She gives the option to go virtual or in person. she provides her powerpoints and gives resources that are helpful for studying. There are 3 homework assignments and 3 exams total.
She is an insanely sweet person but as a non-stem major her class was complete jibbish. I would not take her Bio 2 if you didn't take her Bio 1 because she bases a lot of learning on building off of old work. I struggled a lot trying to study because she gives us questions to answer and study but she never confirms the right answers.
Dr. Nita cares a lot about the course and her students. She's passionate about the littlest things while she teaches, which makes it hard at times to get the concise main ideas from her lectures. The material is intimidating at first, but at the end of the day, her grading is very clear. Just put in effort to learn the material and you'll succeed.
Great professor take her if you can. You don't have to go to class she sends the lectures ahead of time so you can watch them from anywhere.
I love Dr. Nita! Her tests are more related to what she goes over in Panopto during in-class discussions. Gives a ton of practice in Pearson and Panopto quiz that is built in... She is really nice teacher...
Thank you dr. Nita...She is one of those professor who makes you think out of the textbooks and goes over every important stuff in class !!! Recorded lecture are simply the best way to review the material! Just made a 100% today in Exam 2!
Dr. Nita is awesome! Her explanation is just right for non-major Bio, the amount you need to understand for exams. I made a 85 points on both my Exams but my Pearson's assignments brought up my grade to balance out! Dr. Nita is super nice...
She has an accent but it is definitely understandable to someone raised with English. Homework: lecture and answering questions in the panapto that allow you to retake it until you get it correct. She also has thes 60+ item homeworks between each exam, you can fin quizlets to help out. If you do well on the homework it should balance out the exams.
She's a amazing and sweet lady. Attendance is optional because she does panaptos, but you greatly benefit from attending class in person. However, she covers a LOT of stuff and literally the small things she says mean a lot. If you have previous Bio experience you would probably do fine in this class, if not put the work in.
Dr. Nita is a great professor, but the class is very difficult to follow. Lectures are posted online, and you are expected to watch them before going to class for discussion (each video is at least an hour and a half long). It's a lot of concepts in a short amount of time.
I like Dr. Nita's course, it's doable. It's easy for students to get a C+ or a B, but tough to get A grade..as an English major + a job, I went over Dr. Nita's Panoptos which really helped me out to manage B, also those take-home Pearson Assignment balance those closed book exam grades. Like, if Exam 64 points+Pearson 100 points it averages to 82%.
Dr. Nita is very nice teacher. I do all Panoptos without skipping and come to her lectures in class which is really helpful. All freshmen level course are large 100-200! I wish the class size were smaller though 20 max. I think Dr. Nita does an awesome job managing the us! But LSU should bring down the class size and increase teacher salary!
Dr. Nita's I do enjoy. She gives Panoptos which are a great sources to review the material. In-class she discuss the same material, only with a story. Make note of every word she says as she tests the little details we discuss. Pearson assignment is a lot, but that is open book and ~50% of grade. Exam at testing center closed book and cumulative.
Dr.Nita is my favorite professors. She requires students to watch lectures before class and then explains them more in class. Almost ALL of her information comes from the recorded lectures. By watching them and taking notes this class is simple. She also has three major assignments that are equal to the exams. And all the answers are easy to find.
Unlike others, we had in person lectures our semester and no online lectures but there are still recorded lectures and stuff. I never went to class and don't even know what she looks like. Tons of extra credit, literally got an F and D- on exams and still have a B in the class because of extra credit and 3 big hw assignments.
Did not score high on my exams. I am a non-major. BUT Dr. Nita is AWESOME! She made it so easy for people like me to view the Panopto lectures online. Sorry I attend about 4 weeks class in-person, you took the pains for in-person teaching as well. You are someone different I have come across, you made BIOL 1001 fun with a positive energy in class!
Dr. N is one of the most nicest teachers that LSU has! If it were not for her recorded Panoptos lectures that is required to be watched before her lectures, I do not think I could have made a B+ grade! Plus she, lectures in person 10-12 slides per class to cover the same stuff in panoptos lectures and tries to connect the concept using concept maps.
Dr. Nita is one of the best! I loved the way she set the BIOL 1001 course. People like me, can do it on own with Panoptos to make a C no doubt! but getting As tough. Thank you Dr. Nita, I really was stunned to know that substances abuse can lead to hypermethylation of DNA and that is bad as our DNA Packing in our chromosomes get messed up!
Dr. Nita is one of those dedicated teachers who cares about all her students. It is a huge class size (about 500 or more) and she has done an awesome job of teaching us all & NO NEED for SI tutor if Students can watch panoptos at home and then come to lectures in person and pay attention. Which is a best practice! This helped me a lot in exams!!!
Dr. Nita is great! Explains concepts very well during lectures. Class is not mandatory but a lot of information that is pointed out in class is seen on Exams. She also has panopto recordings of her lessons which are very useful as well. Take Dr. Nita!!
Amazing Teacher! She would record lectures, and then go more in-depth during lectures. Exams are a big grade of this class, and the exams had everything the lecture did. I'm no good at biology and was suprised to pass with a B+, mainly due to her teaching. It's best to watch the videos first, then attend lecture, or you might be a bit lost.
Dr. Nita is by far one of the best professors at LSU! Even with her huge class sizes, she cares about you as an individual. She's great at answering emails, and is always willing to help you! She gives extra credit and bonuses on exams. She gives lots of grades that help boost your average. WATCH THE VIDEO LECTURES! She genuinely wants you to pass!
I have always been pretty bad science, but the way DR. Nita sets up the course helped me finish with an A! She really is a sweet lady and wants you to succeed in this course. Watch the lectures, go to class, and you will do fine on the tests. You do not have to score exceptionally high on each test to finish with an A. She is very understanding too
Take Dr. Nita if you are simply looking to pass a general edu course, she has made it in such a way that it is easy to pass the assignments and exams. But she has also made it challenging for students who are here to learn! her panopto reviews are one thing that has sailed me through her course apart from paying attention to every detail in class!
She has a very heavy accent which makes it difficult to understand the lectures. Did not learn anything from the class.
I think what Dr.N is doing is amazing and is working for me! I have been able to connect things like bonds with genetics and if my doc prescribes meds I will know how it dissolves in my body with polar and non polar groups! i am so blessed she is simply not just pulling out definitions from a textbook! But actually making connections.
Dr. Nita set up this course in such a way that it is easy to pass but also, it will be a challenge for some kids in class who need to know the details in Bio! Everything on the test is from the panoptos and this is something that she always reminds in class as well to get familiar with the concepts to revise regularly and not pile up till the exam!
I like Dr. Nita! Revised the panoptos in order, it takes time, but all worth it when you get 90% its just feels great. Her panoptos are like a guide she uses to test and she made sure to post them for each class we met. Some prof don't even balance out assignments...but she has ensured that our exams and assignment are equally weighed.
Dr. Nita is a professor who wants all her student to learn biology to use it in their day to day life! I went to every class and heard her Panoptos regularly! I only kept reviewing and listening to her Panoptos to keep pace with the material every week, it works like a charm for her exams! She modifies the textbook to make it fun learning too!
Her teaching format does not work for me but seems to work for most. She is very nice and clearly cares. Be prepared to devote a lot of time into studying. Watch the panoptos!!! She balances grades out so well that I got 50s on all exams and still finished with a C+. If science is hard for you take Dr. B!
Dr. Nita usually strays from the textbook stuff, and they don't match the Pearson assignments, but she manages to simplify things very well, and Pearson assignments are weighted the same as exams, so it's easy to pass. Panaptos helped me catch up to the missed classes and cram for exams (plus free participation points).
Fall 2024 her Panoptos are a good way to revise, even if 600 students need to revise the material, they do not need to worry. Every single question on her exam is from the Panoptos. She expects her students to come to class, to ensure that she goes over some examples to help them to prepare well for exams / connect with biology.
Dr. Nita's bio 1001 for non majors was faster paced than the bio 1201 for science majors I switched into after dropping her class. The flipped learning format was incredibly unhelpful to me and her accent was too heavy to understand. She seems very sweet but I didn't catch a thing she said and that just wasn't gonna work.
This is for me one of the only courses that is well organized for non majors with Panoptos that cover the essential concepts and then in class students come prepared with terms. It surely is help when I am a slow note taker. A ton of practice sets, and so far it has been a week and I enjoy how she teaches. Not for students who want an easy pass!!!
Take this positively from a non major in biology student who has been in her class before! The panoptos are very informative ! Do exactly what she asks and you will succeed! Watch panoptos in a timely way, donot cram info the last minute and do all the work she assigns sure to reach 90/100!!! Also learn all the examples she discuss in class + book.
Amazing teacher take her and it will change your life .Took her for microbiology BIOL2051
She's a real gem of a person. I had her two semesters ago for BIOL 1002. - Next-gen students, yeah, there's a ton of information, but she does her best to simplify complex theories. Watching her Panoptos helped me keep that 90%, but I seriously had to pause every second of the video because she tests on it for the exam.
This professor was very sweet but her style of learning was awful. She uses the "Flip learning style" so she doesn't teach in her lectures she solely teaches based off pre-recorded videos. Her accent is very heavy and hard to understand. I respect her passion for teaching but her style is way too fast for me and her grading is very inaccurate.
I like her teaching style for 600~ non-majors the lectures are pre-recorded, helps to make notes. pattern of assignments have changed this semester_ 35% includes participation. She made sure the panoptos are in place to help students in exams 65%. From the middle of the hall, my note app transcribes her far better than any of other prof. at LSU.
I love the way Dr. Nita teaches; she simplifies the subject matter for her students. As a Louisianan y'all, I am very thankful to have her as a teacher. For someone like me who grew up in the South, "Dr. Nita's English accent is different, but she has very clear, easy to understand "; unlike the 30 other American English dialects spoken in America!
I had a bad background on Biology and she helped to simplify the material so that her students can grasp and understand. My class deals with non-majors, so she made sure not to put too much on us. She is very helpful and the homework and tests are easy as long as you practice and test yourself.
This could just be the semester I took her but, she was disorganized, classes and projects were pushed back to the point the test was before she could even talk about it in classes, lots of work by yourself as you and many of your classmates may not understand what's going on class
This could just be the semester I took her but lots of projects were pushed back, things that she claimed that was for the test was due and talked about after the test, many of us never had a clear understanding of what was going on, even the kids who went every day were struggling. She would put in grades then taking them out for no clear reason
The tests are almost impossible if you don't go to class; they are literally all based on random in class assignments. That being said, this woman's voice is so abrasive I COULD NOT sit in those classes. Tons of homework, very long homework assignment, but if you can get past the voice and you pay attention, you'll do very well
she herself is so lovely. but i despise her flip-learning thing. you have to listen to lectures outside of class and come to class for her to explain more. easy class and she's so nice but EW. +, i noticed a few questions with incorrect answers a few times but i think that may have been oversimplification and/or english being her second language.
After class ended but before finals my grade dropped 12% which turned into failing. When emailed abt this she said study for the final or you will fail. No explanation. Followed up and no reply. She is ok besides that but she teaches through videos you watch on your own time and does not reply to emails well. most ppl in class were struggling.
I scored 100% on the final exam today. You all need to work hard; this isn't an easy pass course. It seems like no matter how much she tries to reduce our burden, the department keeps asking her to increase the student workload. Some of these 1000-level courses can be overwhelming. But I scored 100%—I loved her concept maps drawn in class.
I was not a huge fan of Dr. Nita's style of teaching in class, but I believe she did the best she can with the ridiculous expectations of LSU's biology department for an entry level course. This class is quite difficult and will be the majority of your study time. That said, Dr. Nita is the best professor to take for BIOL1001 and you can pass it.
Didn't go to class whole semester and still passed. She was difficult for me to understand, which was very frustrating trying to take notes and listen to her Panopto videos. However, she's very passionate about science and offers a lot of bonuses to help boost your grade. You have long pearson assignments that are graded for homework.
I didn't pay attention in class everrrr and still managed a 97. She does have a decent amount of work, but it's nice because it weighs out the exam grades. Anyone who says her class is hard just doesn't put in the effort to get the grade. I'm bad at science, but I highly recommend her.
Class was hard in the beginning but she gives a decent amount of extra credit. I went to class like twice a week max. Even if you dont watch her video lessons leave them on in the background so you get the credit, and do the mastering biology and u should be fine.
Dr. Nita is a fantastic professor who genuinely wants her students to succeed. The class is manageable if you stay on top of the Panopto lectures and attend her in-person sessions. Using Unstuck AI along with the textbook really helped boost my understanding of the material.
Dr. Nita was a phenomenal professor! She cares deeply about the overall success of her students. There were countless times I didn't understand the material and she would stay with me 1-2 hours after class, ensuring I understood the material. She also worked around my work schedule with her office hours. I highly recommend her!
She has a heavy accent so it is difficult to understand what she is saying most of the time. Class is disorganized but overall easy and requires minimal effort.
Professor has Accent problem or is it Some Students are xenophobic and overly dramatic trying to bully ! I love Dr. Nita explanations and I have no issues. I hope she makes the exams tougher to weed out student who don't give importance to studies!
I love Dr. Nita, and I love Panopto for helping me return to writing notes. What I feel is that she should make the exams more challenging to be the best. She should start doing this to also discourage students who simply try to get away with a passing grade and play the blame game about professors' accents.
Dr.N is passionate about teaching, despite this being a non-major course. I have followed her in class and her Panopto, review list. I managed an A- last semester in BIOL 1001... Her accent is just fine; it does not match any of the 30 major American regional dialects- AI found. Her pronunciation in English sounds clear!!!
Dr. N really wants all of her students to succeed and her lectures make students want to be there. She gives you a 40-50 minute video to watch before every class and then she reviews the video. These videos are very helpful to go back to watch before exam. The best Biology teacher I have had at LSU.
Dr. Nita is an excellent teacher. She gives us updated info about topics that even the textbooks donot have... And yes, she has an accent; it sounds just fine and clear..., unlike the examples in these YouTube videos by Olly Richards and more.... Dr. Nita, she likes to connect things from atoms into bonds, and then she connects to big concepts.
This website is known to have students who have not prepared well to blast off their prof. What is amazing is student already know she was a horrible teacher or had an non-American accent, which they are dramatizing on this platform; why did they not drop the course in the first place! I made an A+. Dr.Nita is an excellent teacher !!!
Dr. Nita picked out selected topics to discuss in class, Panoptos and her concept maps truly helped me. Imagine reading the entire book from chapter 19 to chapter 45ish...aaa; I thank Dr. Nita for downsizing it to a bearable amount; she ensures to post a review list to concentrate on which assignment videos will be tested near to 50% of the test!
She has a very heavy accent that is hard to understand but she really tries to make the class super easy. I didn't learn anything but this class was a easy compared to my other classes the same semester. Nice lady but doesn't really teach. Still, I would recommend the class.
Dr. Nita clearly wants her students to succeed. The Mastering Biology assignments are exactly like the test questions, and if you watch the panapto recordings you'll easily pass the tests. Accent was no problem, not sure why its mentioned so much in her reviews. Just make sure to keep up with mastering biology assignments and the panaptos!!!
Protect this woman at all costs! I took Dr. Nabanita 2 years ago but I have to leave another review because she's one of my all time favorites. She genuinely cares, offers Zoom/recorded lectures, and if you ace the assignments, you'll pass—even if you don't do good on the exams. I'm not great at biology at all but her class was amazing. loved her!
I would say she's the best BIO professor at LSU. Her homework and lectures are posted ahead of time so you can work at your own pace. She also gives an exact list of what would be on the test so I just studied strictly that for a couple of days and always got an A!
She is difficult to understand but everything is posted on MOODLE so you don't need to come to class. I have two jobs so not having to attend lectures is a big plus. Very easy exams. Awesome teacher!!!
Biology is my worst subject and this professor actually taught in a way that I could understand. All tests are in Himes, and there are a lot of Pearson assignments. If you go to class and do the assignments you can do well in this class.
The best and easiest professor to take for BIOL 1001. Attendance is not mandatory for the most part but make sure you do all the panaptos, pearson and quizzes and the class should be a very easy A.
I feel like a lot of her content is messy and all over the place if you do not understand many biology terms. Most of the exams are pretty repetitive using a lot of the pearson homework assignments. For this class if you aren't to good at bio, you will definitely have to put in effort to end with a decent grade.
I am so done with BIOLOGY and GenEd requirements! Dr. NITA, thank you for actually making biology fun to learn. Yes, exams are hard, but you did best to make it easy. I hate biology myself, but your drawings in class and in notebooks REALLY HELPED.Dr. Nita you are the best. I enjoyed how a simple bowl of salad can help with Iron homeostasis.
I made an A+!!! Thank you for making biology fun, Dr. Nita. I love how passionate you were when explaining, even though you had to deal with a class full of non-major students who hated biology! I loved the fact that you were way beyond the level of excellence and never let anything deter you, always explaining the concepts so well. Thank you.
Know this: Dr. Nita is the best! I loved that she explained the why's and if's of biology. She took on that challenge herself to go the distance in explaining to non-majors, ensuring the material remained straightforward.
MY SHAYLA. had her my freshman year and was the sweetest and most understandable teacher ever. great teacher and really knows her stuff. take her class!!!
Not great but not terrible either. Attendance is not really necessarily because almost everything is posted online which is great (it's a flipped classroom). The most important thing is to do all the online assignments. The materials are really easy. She is a nice person and is better than the other intro biology professors.
She is a wonderful biology professor! Make sure when you take her class that you definitely study the Pearson questions as well because that's very important when taking the tests. GO TO CLASS! Yes, she posts Panopto's and they help so much but go to class because that'll help you retain the information even more.
Genuinely one of the best professors I have ever had. She clearly loves microbiology and it show through her lectures. Everytime I am in class I feel like I am actually learning. She understand how the connecting lab works and helps us prepare for the lab exams as well! I definitely recommend!
Dr. Nita always helps me connect with the information in microbiology. She uses journal articles and provides enough notes in handouts. She is a very nice professor and gives many quizzes to practice, never burdens students to buy a textbook! She handles the lecture part, and I am lucky that there is one prof. like her on campus who loves to teach.
Take her!!! Dr. Nita is the best!!!
She is really nice. The tests are pretty straightforward as long as you went to class or studied the handout quizzes she had. Also, she teaches in correspondence with the lab which makes it easier to study for her class and also for the lab midterm and final. She is a great teacher and is definitely the best micro lecture teacher.
dr. nita genuinely cares about her students. she will physically not move on from a topic unless she knows that everyone understands it. her handouts can be very chaotic, but if you take good notes, you will be fine. her tests have some questions copied and pasted from the quizzes.
wonderful woman- so kind and passionate. you're only graded on the tests and some quizzes that are really just long homeworks. good luck with lab, though, because brininstool does not care and its only passable if you luck out with your TA.
BE AWARE this was her first semester teaching micro things may change. Test very easy just like quiz handouts slight variation. She wants you to win and will dedicate lecture to lab concepts. It's really just a lab TA gamble get a good one and the class should feel light. All my homies loathe Brininstool for doing this to micro.
The exams are lecture-heavy, and the tests are pretty easy if you take notes and do the practice quizzes.
Dr. Nita is so sweet and funny. She cares so much about her students and is very passionate about micro. Her slides can get a little dense and almost all her notes come from what she says in class so attendance is VERY important. Her tests are pretty much from the quizzes she posts. Take her over Brinstool who WILL feel my wrath in her review
Super easy class. Exams are almost identical to her online quizzes. Take her over Brininstool.
Take her. Her exams are very similar to the quizzes she gives and all in Himes and that is the majority of the grade. Not hard at all, also gave extra credit at the end of the year that helped. Definitely the best option. Hopefully one day she takes over the lab.
I LOVE Dr. Nita. She is so passionate about micro, and she cares about her students. In the lecture portion of this class, I have a 98% because her exams are straightforward. She gives you practice quiz questions and is easy to reach outside of class. TAKE HER over Brininstool. She is so much better at teaching, but she is a little unorganized.
Dr. Nita is so amazing and funny. Handouts are exactly like the exams. Some have extra credit. If you have to take brininstool just change your major or wait till you can take Dr Nita.
she lowkey goated and her handout quizzes saved my grade. Final was like 100% copy and paste questions from the quizzes. you get 7 tries for each quizzes and unlimited time to take them but it is a LOT of questions. highly recommend
Dr. Nita, the woman you are. She truly wants her students to learn. Lecture isn't mandatory, but I got a lot out of attending. She makes great analogies and breaks down some of the more difficult concepts. Doing well in the lecture really helps balance out the difficulty of the lab. I couldn't recommend her more and wish her nothing but the best.
Bhattacharyya is 10X better than Brininstool! Her lecture tests are identical to the quizzes that she gave us so if you study those questions, the exams are very easy. The only downside to this class is the lab which is run by Brininstool. The lab exams are almost impossible and the lab itself is poorly managed and unorganized.
This is my second time taking this class. The first time with Brininstool was a nightmare so I dropped the class. The second time with Bhattacharyya who is a good teacher. All her exams are based on her MOODLE quizzes so very easy. If you have a choice, absolutely take her over Brininstool or get on the waitlist if her class is full.
I took her microbiology class and she was absolutely amazing the most easy person every she gives you the exam in Moodle form before you show up to times to take it. Her lectures cover absolutely everything that the exams cover and on top of all that she extremely nice LOVED this class would take again if possible.
THE best professor at LSU hands down. She actually cares for her students and wants them to succeed. The class itself has a lot of material, but her notes and quizzes are verbatim to the exam questions. She is also super nice and gives a LOT of bonus points, some of which are said in class. Take her if possible.
She is by far the easiest person to take for microbiology. Exams are identical to the MOODLE quizzes. Also, a very beautiful professor!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but I highly recommend going because she explains things in class that aren't fully on the slides and may appear on exams. Grading is fair, and while quizzes can be long, they are very helpful for exam prep if studied correctly. Micro is memorization-heavy and tedious, but manageable. I recommend taking her.
Dr. Nita is a good teacher. She attempts to make lectures engaging. Notes are alright, and the exams aren't too bad, as long as they are based on the moodle quizzes (memorization). If the lab exams weren't so difficult, this class would be an easy A+. My best advice would to be start reading the lab manual in-depth early and often.
Dr. Bhattacharyaa was a very great professor for this course, making the class seem much easier than it is chalked up to be. Her class is centered around custom-made lecture notes that she provides at the beginning of each topic, which she uses as the basis for her exams. There are 4 total exams and lots of study material provided.
