two papers, two oral presentations and three pop quizes(that kicked everyone's ass), he grades inconsistantly so be sure to have him clarify his expectations from the beginning, overall he's an average professor
He may give you a hard time when it comes to grading your papers and only one or two people pass with an A. If you do your work and try hard you can may get a B. I passed with a good grade, you can too but I wouldn't recommend him at all. GOOD LUCK!
We got out of class an hour early every single day (summer sem).He was never prepared for class and was late for a meeting we arranged. He could not justify his grading nor could be provide your exams after they were taken-- he simply handed you a grade.
Dr. Chaaban is one of the most experienced, intelligent, and qualified professors I have had. He always came to class prepared and willing to discuss any mass comm topic. Although his exams amd papers are difficult, he is very fair in grading students. He is always willing to help.
An Excellent professor. Always willing to hep out. Please take him if you want to learn how to present speeches using tehcnology
You will definitely learn how to give extemporaneous speeches and using powerpoint effectively. Take him to learn about presentations. Does not like students who come late or miss class. Overall, he is an excellent professor.
Excellent professor. He is very clear in all assignments and even gives examples of everything. Easy course, but you have to go to class. Very generous if u miss class on a teat day with en excuse. Good class!!!
This class was one of the most annoying classes I had to take. He does not like to give A's (even when you think you've earned it). He's a very picky teacher when it comes to grading anything in his class. I wouldn't recommend him.
He makes you to really work for the grade. If you are just looking for an easy A and do not want to learn, do not take him. If you want to learn and work hard for your A or B, then I will strongly recommend him. Always clarify assignments with him.

I find the lectures to be very useful in completing assignments and other class projects. Make sure you ASK for help if you need it. He will do his best to help you out. Assignments can be difficult, but follow his directions and the handbook. I will recommend him.
Dr. Chaaban is a very nice professor who knows a lot about media systems and mass communciation. He gives excellent examples and tries hard to make lectures interesting. COmpleting his small assignments are a treat and very easy. Study for his exams, he can be difficult there.
I have taken almost 4 classes with Dr. Chaaban from comm 456 to comm 100 and I find him to be a very knowledgeable professor in the field of communication. He is very laid back and enthusiastic in his teaching. He is a winner, take him, especially for mass communication courses.
Very helpful and easy class as long as you show up to class.
Sometimes hard to understand what ideas he's getting at but it's not his fault, the material is sometimes vague and ambiguous. Readings are very short! Go to class and you'll be fine.
A very fair and dedicated instructor. Go to class and make sure you talk with him if you need help. Definitely take him.
Very picky teacher and grading isn;t fair, especially with group projects.
Definitely an unfair grader. The class is based on group projects, where, usually, you can't rely on the people in your group, and get a low grade. All or our projects so far have been graded below a 75%.He tells you one thing about grading, and does a completely different one. BAD class.
He is very fair and easy to talk with. I like him because he lets you know what is expected of you and makes sure everyone understands the assignments. I strongly recommend him for Comm 101.
I really loved this class. We learned a lot especially how to give speeches. He guided us through the outline and presentation. He makes you relax and very comfortable while giving speeches.
he grades pretty tough. but he's really friendly and tries to be helpful.
Horrific Class, could not teach, was not helpful. Also, very mean.
A very nice and polite instructor. He is tough, but really fair and make sure everyone understands the assignmnets. Talk with him about assignments and he will help you a lot. One of my favorite professors.
This was my worst class this semester, he was very unclear you didn't really know what we were doing or when things were due. If you asked him a question he didn't really answer it at all. If you can take someone else, please do so.
Nice guy but he wasted our time becuase he gives you a grade for showing up even when there is a class when you are supposed to independently work on your outline which could be done at home

he's an okay guy, but not a good teacher. He pretty much goes over the books, and gives examples that are in the book. If you ask him what to study for on the test, he says everything that has been covered in class. Tough grader, and very particular about attendance.
I have looked at most of the commnets about this guy, but I have to say that he is one of the best I have had. sometimes, he can be hard on grading, but you learn a lot. very friendly and funny and always willing to help students. I storngly recommend him, especially for comm 100.
i really enjoyed the class
he's good professor. i would recommend. not too much emphasis on book. he's more concerned about the 2 papers/orals & 1 group presnt. one tip: if u want to read all of chapters go ahead but i would recommend the ch. outlines in the back of the handbook. (for exams and for the final)
Nice guy, but a little strange and not always clear on what he wants. He has a strange sense of humor that can be entertaining. Class revolves around random quizzes, a midterm, an individual paper, a (frustrating) group assignment and some smaller in-class assignments.
1 of the weirdest profs ever. he's not very hard, but has a strange grading system that screwed many ppl over. u start w/100 pts. he deducts a pt for every pt u lose on a test/quiz/assignment. ex. a 10/20 on a test, he will take the 10 pts off of ur class grade and keep deducting as u lose points. if u did good in comm 101 u'll do fine.
His assignments are fun and challenging and sometimes very interesting. He can challenge you with his questions, but always prepare to answer. He is always willing to help out, especially if you need help.
great sense of humor! random pop quizzes. answers on matching section are always in order! fun class!
He is a easy and fun teacher, but his way of grading is screwed. You need to watch your grade from the beginning. Only 3 tests, and 2 papers! A/B class definitely!
He's a fairly easy professor who definitely knows his stuff. Also has a very strange sense of humor... Be aware guys, he's really big on attendence. I was 90% of the time late to his class and i believe that's why I had a C as my final grade while others had B's or A's. He'll make fun of you for any reason! As long as you put effort in you'll be ok
He's not very reasonable when discussing things that he's graded, and why you got the grade you did. The course itself isn't hard, but he's not as clear as he could be about projects.
I really loved the class. Very fair and funny. He is big on attendane, but is very understanding if you explain it to him. I worked hard and learned a lot in his class.
TAKE HIM!!!! He is the best professor ever. He is very sweet. The class was simple and straight forward. The tests was made up entirely from the notes in class. You will not regret it!
i loved dr. chaaban! he has a quirky sense of humor and is a really sweet guy! the class was really easy, and he's a pretty easy grader..(most of the time). i'd definitely like to be in another one of his classes.
Dr. Chaaban was very caring and helpful. His lectures are very organized and ver helpful, especially for presentations. He will make sure every student is ready for the presentation before we did them. I recommend him. Be ready to learn and work hard.
To all those who fear speaking in public, please take him. He is the most relaxed and helpful professor out there. Let him know if you are nervous or need help and he will accommodate you. I really liked his style of teaching.
I strongly recommend Dr. Chaaban. He is very big on attendance and is willing to help you if you show up for class and shows the effort. He is really funny and very sweet. I love his examples, althought they can be many.
Inter-Personal Comm... He is a cool professor. Attendance is required - after 2 missed classes, he lowers your grade one letter for every missed day. Only two projects - one individual paper and one group paper/presentation. He's an easy teacher but has an old-fashioned perspective when he talks about relationships between men & women
he is a good teacher and is really funny. although for presenations he actually grades pretty hard. make sure you form a good group in the first class because your group can mess your whole entire grade up because most grades are presenations with your group.
He is just the best. Very helpful and always willing to help students. Can be hard on grading but everyting is clear. Take him and you will enjoy his class a lot.
Very good professor. He made the speeches easier to do by using his improv activities. He like to pick on students but it is out of fun not out of hate of the student so no worries.
Oh man, where do I start. This guy suck. He will smile for no reason. He is the worst professor and he thinks he is smart. This guy will put you down in front of everyone. Please don't take him. I request to the serious students. Please. You will regret at the end. Trust my words.
He may give you a hard time when it comes to grading your papers and only one or two people pass with an A. If you do your work and try hard you can may get a B. I wouldn't recommend him at all. GOOD LUCK!
yea,he picks on students but it's all out of fun &he's not mean at all! Very nice and helpful :) Pay attention in class... Attendance is Mandatory,u can miss 2classes but then after that ur grade will drop.outlines are a PAIN&he's a little hard on grading them unless its like the example format.I hated speeches before but he really helped me out!
The best professor I have every had. He is very nice and helpful. He makes sure you get the material and always willing to help. Talk with him and you can succeed.
He really breaks the ice in his classes. He is funny and finds somthing about everyone that can give them confidence or an introduction that takes the worry off your sholders when presenting. I enjoyed his class so much. The final presentation wasn't as great though.
Person commenting on 8/14/08 is right! I will just say this...double check and question your grades if they don't seem right (his TA's screwed up the grades for the entire class!).
My biggest disappointment this semester. The guy gives elementary lectures and add very little to college students. If you are interested in actually learning something in school stay away from him. On top of that he expects wonders from students in the final project. Not a fair grader either. In sum, he sucks.
I had always wanted to learn about different cultures and Dr. Chaaban gave so many examples and made is a lot easier for me to udnerstand different cultures. He is fair and always willing to read papers before they are submitted. I loved his style of teaching and he is a wonderf professor.
I had Dr. Chaaban for both Comm305 and 335 and he was just the best. He makes the lectures very easy to follow and very organized. You must come to class and do the work. He encourages everyone to participate and do well. I will take him for another class--I like his teaching.
I really enjoyed the class with Dr. Chaaban. His TA was very helpful and Dr. Chaaban was always trying to help us understand the key concepts. I did not like the individual paper but he reviewed it for me and I got an A. The course is very informative and he conveyed the material very well.
Simply the best. Makes you laugh and work at the same time. Very helpful, especially when you ask him for help. Do no not miss class. He is ig on attendance. He rocks:)
I really dad fun in his class. He was very helpful and easy to talk with when I had problems. Definitely take him if you want to learn and enjoy the course.
very boring professor. he does not know how to teach at all. he just rambles. class moved at a far too fast pace. he does not help at all. do not take him. take someone else for the course!
I am taking him this semester, so far, he is excellent. His lectures are very clear, to the point. Hen is very friendly and willing to help. He is always challening students.
One of the most caring professors I have taken. WHen I came to him for help, he explained all the assignments and made sure I understoond them. His TA is very helpful also. I recommend him.
He is an interesting teacher and keeps your attention by telling interesting stories and randomly calling on people during class. He takes attendance so you can't skip. The projects are very easy but he isn't always clear on directions so make sure you ask because sometimes he says one thing but means another. Tests are hard.
One of the worst professors I have come across. His grading system is arbitrary and he gives very poor feedback. He is a communications professor, and yet he does not understand the basic idioms of the English language. He is completely uninteresting, monotonous, and altogether a waste of time. I have a 3.5 GPA and know a bad prof from a good prof.
I like the fact that he challenges everyone in his class to answer questions and yes, he is not an easy grader or a push over. He goes by the syllabus and very helpful when you need help. He is my favorite professor this semester.
Very interesting and educated. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Strong background in the field of communication. Take him and you will enjoy his class and appreciate him.
If you did not enjoy his class, it means you skipped class and did not read the book and assignments. Everything you need to know about assignments is in the book. He is so funny and caring. Very interesting class lectures. I like him teaching style a lot.
Nice professor, makes the class mentally stimulated. Lets class out early sometimes. Lots of HW, and BB assignments. Tests and quizes arent too bad.
He is the worst teacher, very unstructured, has so many assignments here and there, a ridiculous group project and his most absurdly questioned tests/exams are the worst and impossible to pass. Seriously, faculty needs to check on him. If you suck up to him and laugh at his snarky jokes, you'll probably pass.
I'm amazed he has gotten such good reviews? Is this the same teacher? He can hardly "communicate", his syllabus is completely inaccurate and contrary to expectations, he can't answer questions and doesn't return his impossible exams. Literally the most incompetent teacher I've ever had. Don't take his class unless you like going around in circles.
For the two previous comments, I strongly believe that because he challenged the class with his exams with not just easy questions, they do not like him. One of the best and most caring faculty member I know. Very knowledgeable and interesting. Strongly recommend him.
He was my favorite. Very clear syllabus--look it up online. Answers questions and always willing to help. Yes, he has an accent, but so are we all. Take him and you will enjoy his class. Very caring instructor.
hard professor, crazy about assignments which include weekly blackboards, book report, 10 page portfolio, group project and studying for impossible tests and weekly quizzes. i got a C and regret him.
He is one of the hardest COMM Pro. If you like take quizzes after he teaches each chapter, then just take his class, all the quizzes are short answers. In his class, you will have many quizzes and assignments. One more thing, his midterm and final exams also have short answers, and you have to give examples and explain them. HARD TO GET A.
Hard class, need to read a book before you go to class because you will have quiz ever time when he finishes each chapter. cannot open note or book while taking a quiz. hard to get A on the class, regret that i take him this semester.
One of the better, more interesting comm professors. Those who bash him are lazy and bad writers. He creates a comfortable class atmosphere by encouraging discussion. He might make some uncomfortable calling on them, but it forces people to participate and make the class interesting. Definitely take his class.
His expertise, knowledge, and experience, make him a very interesting instructor. His examples and definitions make it easier to understand key concepts. I really enjoyed the class a whole lot.
Those who said his lectures are boring never came to class. His lectures are interactive and not just talking. He calls on students to participate and makes his class very interesting.
I just want to say that Dr. Chaaban took his time on a weekend to go over our paper. He was so helpful and went out of his way to meet with me group at Borders. No instructor will do that. Thanks Dr. Chaaban---you are great.
He is very organized, lectures are very, very organized. One of the few instructors who give out his notes. He goes out of his way to help students succeed. I love the class and his teaching style. Always willing to meet and help students.
Dr. Chaaban is very accessible both in person and via email. He responds to email and very helpful when students have questions. I appreciate his time spent to review our papers.
Your excellent job in teaching is highly appreciated. I learned a lot and gained a lot of information from you.
HE IS TERRIBLE, NOT EXCELLENT! He thinks that giving students low grades makes him excellent. Anyone can have exams with trick questions and take off points on speeches, as he does in order to lower student's grades. A good teacher has a normal distribution of grades with 20% A, 20% B, etc. - which he does not! He is an insult to good teachers!
HE DOES NOT CURVE YOUR GRADE AT ALL! He gives you low grades on exams and assignments but he does not curve your overall class grade. So, if you receive less than the grade bracketed percentage (i.e A 90%) of total points, you will get that grade. There have been numerous complaints about him, but Mason does not get rid of him. BEWARE LOW GRADE!
He ROCKS:) He CARES:) He is ENTHUSIASTIC about the subject:) He is very itneresting and caring. Excellent professor and easy to deal with. I have an A, but I worked for it. Do not take him if you need to be in kindergarten. Only ADULTS:)
It looks like the person who keep writing bad comments about Dr. Chaaban is a cry baby who just wants easy grade and pass. Hey, college is for adults who want to work and earn, not complain about grade. I love Dr. Chaaban's class. I am in his 4:30 class and come visit us if you are not lying. Everyone, I mean, everyone, loves him:)
Take Dr. Chaaban if you want to learn and work. He is absolutely the best you can have for COMM305. Very knowledgeable and caring. I love every bit of his class.
He's a nice guy who cares about his students. Show up to class or he won't be happy. Read the chapters before the tests and you'll be fine.
The class was interesting and he like to have everyone involved. There exam's were straight from what he taught, but you will need to read the chapters. 3 multiple choice exams, 1 book review (his autobio), & 1 group project. Also there are weekly homework assignments on blackboard. He doesn't check hw all the time so you can turn it in late.
AWESOME Professor! Every class was intriguing and he kept things alive and interesting, especially since it was a night class. Great class, really enjoyed it a lot. For all tests just study the definations and you'll pass.
This class was really boring. The material is so dry but Chaaban does a good job trying to make it interesting. There's 2 multiple choice exams, an individual research paper, and a group paper/presentation. He's not bad, but he's not great either. I would take him again if I had to
Amazing teacher! Makes class fun. Just make sure to attend class.
Material is pretty boring. He does a good job making things interesting with lots of discussion. Paper and group paper were fairly easy. His exams are ridiculous though. Super hard and study guides are not helpful.
Much harder than 305. Interesting class, however tests did not completely follow lecture. Book needs to be practically memorized in order to receive above a B on the test.
He is an awesome professor. Finally a mandatory attendance class I wanted to attend. Just read the book while following along with the notes and you should be good to get an A. Take him if you actually want to learn something in college.
I took this class online and it was the worst decision ever. I obviously didn't know him over the semester so no comment on that, but his assignments were ridiculous. He assigned his life story as required reading which was $30 and literally had 30 grammatical errors per chapter, which was awesome when we had to write a 5 page review on it.
I love his online class. Work at your own pace and his autobiography gives you a clear knowledge of who he is and his own intercultural encounters. A wonderful professor who is always willing to help. I would take another online class with him.
This class was very interesting. Did not have to drive to school since it was an online course. I loved the assignments and the instructor;s promptness in answering email questions. I loved the course very much and his way of encouraging students to work.
I find Dr. Chaaban to be very easy to deal with, and always responds to my concerns. He is very quick with emails, especially when sent through Blackboard. I will take another course with him.
I really loved his online class. We get to work on our own. He answered his emails promptly and we very friendly. His assignments can be challenging, but very rewarding. A fantastic professor to have, especially for online course.
Lazy + boring prof who just regurgitated the text book without much reflection. Did not discuss interesting cultural reading and response assignments in class. Stereotypical, repetitious class exercises + ridiculous book review assignment. Had hig expectations of class and was very disappointed of quality of teaching. Easy A but waste of class time
The best professor to have for intercultural communication. Very helpful and challenging.
I took Professor Chabaans class online and it was fairly easy. The only issue I had was with his group ptoject. Its an online class so it was a tad bit frustrating trying to get collaborate online. His exams were okay as long as you review the study guide and keep up with readings. Very nice teacher a well.
First online class and info/text was dry. You HAVE to post assignments on time or you won't receive credit. Prof is very helpful & willing to help in various ways...meet/illuminate/phone. 3 multiple choice exams; group paper & presentation submitted online. Tests are tough - all from text and study guides not very useful.
He's such a nice professor. Class is easy, you'll definitely need both of the books, one you'll write short one page essays on weekly and the other text you'll be quizzed on but it will be online in your own time. he does group activities and is really chill. his assignments aren't demanding and asks for your own opinion mostly
I loved his class. He helped me learn a lot about communication. A very helpful professor who made sure I was successful
Online class.Typically 1 chapter, 1 short paper, & 1 quiz a week. 3 tests @ testing center. This class was so-so. His quiz/test questions were poorly worded and confusing, he made us read his awful biography, and there were several discussion boards that were just plain painful to do. Only good this is that he is really on top of his email.
Currently taking this course online and so far I'm not impressed. We're basically teaching ourselves. The quizzes frequently repeat questions, so if you get one wrong, you're done. And now the first exam is approaching, and there's no study guide, no PPT's, or lectures, so I have no idea what to study. Taking this course was not a good idea.
You teach yourself. Exam is based on the book and he offers no supplementary material like ppts to understand the material. He gives 0s before the deadline. His exams have trick questions and don't make sense because of his english. The total points you can earn in his class is out of 100. 2 pg papers are worth 1 pt when exams are worth 20 pts/100.
Taking online course. Syllabus and other texts show conflicting dates and requirements. Due dates and written assignments are strewn all over multiple links on blackboard site. Emails, announcements and other important messages tend to have broken English and typos. I would not recommend this professor.
He is the best faculty I have ever taken. Hands down. Very helpful. If you take an online class, you are teaching yourself and that is why it is called online. He is super helpful.
He is one of the most caring instructors I have ever taken. I talked with him when I had problems, he was very understanding. All his due dates are clear and easy to follow. Take him and you will enjoy the course.
Although it is an online course, he is always willing to meet with his students. I had an issue and he made time for me. I really like the course and his teaching.
I would hardly call him an online professor. He doesn't really do anything but create ambiguous exams (that you have to take at the testing center). His exams are irrelevant and are impossible to study for. Don't expect to get higher than a 75. Worst grade I have ever gotten in any comm class since I started here.
If you study the book, read the chapters, follow the directions, you will do very well on his course. Very friendly and send reminders every week. His assignments are very interesting.
This was an awful class. There is absolutely no teaching. Tests and quizzes frequently had repeated questions and were impossible to study for. He never gave any study guides and when I asked for one, my request was completely ignored.
The books are easy to read, the quizzes are every week and all OPEN BOOK. If you are serious, you will do very well in his course. He encourages everyone to work hard and is always helping students perform at their best.
This is the 2nd online course I've taken w/Chabaan. If you do the work ON TIME and post ON TIME, you won't have any problems. I thought his exams were tough, but would take him, again. Papers due weekly & he graded online discussions. Always available via email for help. Very text heavy, though but if you get the work done you'll be fine.
His tests are very hard. He is not very helpful. I found it hard to reach him via email.
He simply rocks with his encouragements and the help he provides to students. On top of his emails and very friendly.
He is a very tough professor. His quizzes and exams are extremely tough and the questions do not make sense. You have to read all three textbooks cover to cover. I would not take him again
It was challenging, but very rewarding course. The professor was always there to help and give encouragements. He helped me a lot, especially in clarifying assignments. I would take him again. Very intelligent man with a great sense of humor
Due dates are conflicting and posted in different places which is annoying and frustrating. His tests aren't so bad but grammar is often wrong in them which makes them harder. Read the book and post on time for an A. Probably wouldn't take again if I had another choice, but he isn't awful.
I love the course and the professor. His exams come from the book and not difficult at all. Always there to help you if you experience problems. Will definitely take him.
I took this course as well as 305 and I still remember material. I'm in graduate school now and I can tell you that he is a great resource. Some tests were challenging so you do have to know the terminology hands down. Great person and his course discussions I always liked.
Great professor! very funny lectures! I loved him! Better do all the quizzes tho, you never now when those 2 points can save your grade a bunch! Please come on time or be prepare cause if you come to class late, he will be very likely to ask you about random hard stuff from the book. also PLEASE don't miss class .
Dr. Chaaban is one of the professors that makes me proud to be a COMM major, and truly, actually cares and wants you to succeed not inside the classroom and outside. Don't be absent, though, because participation really matters to your success in the course. I took him for COMM 300 too, and His online exams are always tough but he curves them.
I rated him poorly bc he completely dismissed me after a death in the family. My younger sister (only 18) - end of 2014 winter semester and I needed to complete my section in a GROUP ppt. (online class) I emailed my group - they understood. I also emailed him asking for an extension. He emailed back telling me I would receive no credit. Appalled.
He is one of the most caring professors at GMU. I enjoyed taking his class and learned a lot. He is very caring and supportive. Take him you will love it.
Had him last semester for 305 and it was an easy course and he was helpful, so I decided to take him again (for 302 this time). Absolutely horrible. He treated me as if I was so dumb when I asked him clarification questions. Did NO explaining, no guidance, and hide assignments all over BB and wouldn't tell us where they were. Awful. Never again.
I have taken both 302 and 305 online. You can tell that English is not his first language which is fine, however emails&instructions might not be clear. As long as you do weekly discussion board post, comment on 3 other post&work on your paperproject you will get an A. Exams are online, MUST study because he doesn't give a lot of time for exams.
I have now taken three courses with him and he is amazing. He is very helpful and always willing to work with you if you have problems. He sets the bar high, but makes you work hard. Read the directions for assignments and follow directions and you will be fine. He is great and I would love to take him again. Very friendly.
Simply amazing. Very friendly and willing to assist students. I find him to be very caring and wants students to succeed. Always ask him for help and he will do it.
This professor is one of the most caring professors. Always seek help and he will assist you. Assignments are sometimes not easy, but if you do your best, you will receive a good grade. I loved his class.
This was a class I did not want to take, but when I took it with him, it was easy and fun. Assignments are very easy. Exams can be challenging, but to get a good grade is easy. He is wiling to help.
I took COMM305 Online. Professor Chaaban seems very friendly and encouraging. The assignments are pretty strait forward. The quizzes and exams are timed. As long as you read the material it isn't too difficult. There are study guides for the exams that help a lot. I contacted him a couple times via email and got rather short, but helpful replies.
This professor is a very easy grader when it comes to the papers. It makes taking this class a lot less stressful. He is very good about grading assignments and being prompt. The quizzes are mostly easy, but the tests can be tricky even when it's open book.
This was a SELF-TAUGHT online class - ZERO help from the Professor. Each week, read 30-50 pgs. in one book for a 4-5 question, 10 pt. quiz & 30-80 pgs. in another book & write a min. of 2 pgs. Also, 5-6 discussion board Q & As, & replies. 3 exams overall, w/ 40 multiple choice (lengthy, unclear, or mis communicated) questions & 30 min. to complete
He is one of the most caring and helpful professors. Whenever I needed help, he was there for me. He always sends out reminders and makes sure that students understand the course content. I will recommend him to all those who need COMM305.
I have to say that my fellow students sometimes do not make any sense. The comment above says class is self-taught. Well, that is why it is an online class. If you want to hear lectures, talk to other students, take a face-to-face class. I really enjoyed the class and loved the Discussion Board. The instructor was very fast with email responses
Dr. Naader is a great professor. He responds very quickly to emails. All the information is laid out. He gives out three exams. One group project. The study guides aren't useful at all. Overall, not a bad course if you keep up with all the work.
Does not work with you to extend deadlines if theres a conflict. Assigns homework over spring break. Homework window for online class too short. Doesnt respond to emails.
His syllabus seems too long and difficult, but once you read the assignments and do your work, the course is easy. Professor Chaaban is very caring. He is more inclined to help you if you ask for help. Do your work and read the directions and you will be fine. Quizzes are easy and very beneficial. This is the second class too with him.
Dr. Chaaban stepped in to teach my COMM 305 class because my now former professor had to step away due to personal issues. He usually teaches only online classes and seems like he knows his stuff. I'm taking him for another COMM class online next semester. I recommend him.
I took intercultural communication with him online and it was super easy. I highly recommend. You should buy the textbooks because he references them often.
I had FOUR papers.... three, 4 pages long and one, ten pages long. All due just 5 days apart. A bit excessive and ridiculous!
An excellent professor in the subject matter who goes beyond his way to help students. I completely forgot about an exam and he allowed me to take it. very nice and easy to deal with. Assignments are very helpful and spread out through the semester.
I have taken three courses with him and he is great. I wish he teaches more COMM courses. Easy to deal with and and easy grader. Working on the project was very rewarding and easy. I got an A.
Taking COMM302 with him was very interesting. I learned a lot about media functions and effect. His assignments are easy to complete, but thought provoking. He has weekly Discussion Board items that are thought provoking and easy to do. I got perfect scores on them. I will take another class with him. Easy grader on papers and project.
Awful professor. Bad communicator in a COMMUNICATIONS class. Gets upset when you don't respond to at least three peoples discussions. Childish. Course is all over the place. Discussions don't line up with material being learned.
I really enjoy his COMM302 course. Very friendly and easy to talk with when you need help. Gives you many chances to improve your grade in the course. He has many assignments and Discussion board to make sure the class interacts with one another. I will definitely take him again. Very easy grader.
His Blackboard page was scattered all over the place and hard to navigate, and his instructions and feedback could be vague even after asking for clarification. The exam questions were way too specific, many had typos that made them hard to understand, and made up a huge part of your grade. He was, however, a pretty generous grader on the papers.
He is just one of those teachers who challenges you to make sure you challenge yourself. I reapply appreciated his feedback and encouragement. He was very quick with his responses to my email. He is easy to reach and always ready to help. I will take more courses with him.
I took his class with the hope of learning about intercultural communication and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot and he assignments are challenging, but very rewarding. he is always ready to help and very quick in grading assignments. Students who complain about him just do not want to do the work.
Tests make up 60% of the course. The professor is not helpful when group members do not do their job during the group project, he just says I dont have a magical solution and just make sure to get it done. Basically leaving it up to you to figure out and your grade will reflect what you submit.
We had to email this professor to open the exam on the assigned week because he forgot to... FOR EVERY EXAM. It's not a hard class, just a boring discussion board every week and respond to 3 people. He is useless however. Directions are horrible and he won't go out of his way to explain projects. Also grades everyone's paper the very next day
Decent professor but not communicative. Not clear in directions. Stay on track he is not lenient.
Don't take this class if you want an A. The structured sucks. The emphasis of the course is on exams. The assignments don't hold much weight. Niether do the "discussions". Grading was hardly fair. No rubrics posted. Took off points in the assignments based on things he did not specify in the instructions.
IF you do the work and follow the directions, you will be fine. He gives detailed directions and makes sure you are on track with the assignments. Do not hesitate to ask him for help. He is very helpful, especially when it comes to group projects and exams. Very dedicated professor to his class.
The professor can be unclear, but the class isn't too difficult. Engage with the textbook and use resources like unstuck ai to prepare for the exams, which make up a large portion of the grade.
