Had this guy for college algebra,he does provide extra credit, however his tests were the most difficult problems in the text book. Lecture involves going over the examples in the book, and overall he failed 3/4 of the class. I would definetly search for an alternate professor for this class.
This professor is always there for you, if you follow his pieces of advice you'll easily earn an A! Just study the basic points and you'll pass. As I said, he is always there for you!
Please, believe me, if you take him your GPA is going to suffer, and you too.
Whatever you do DONT take him!! Worst professor I have ever taken! Super thick accent, you won't understand a world PLUS it is hard to communicate with him because he won't understand what you are trying to say! A LOT of online homework, you have to beg for extra credit and the tests are nothing compare to practice exercises he sends. DONT!!!!!!!!!
He is the hardest professor you can take for pre-calculus. His problems in class seem super easy but on the tests he gives the hardest ones which he never explained. Lotssss of homework and online quizzes! Hard to understand because of his accent. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Yeah, don't take him. The homework and quizzes are fairly easy (BE WARNED, THERE'S A LOT) but the tests are definitely not. I wouldn't say he's totally unhelpful, but not particularly helpful either. I asked for extra credit and he worked something out. Super heavy accent though so it's hard to understand him too. I took him for Pre-Calc.
This professor is by far the worst math teacher I've had. His lectures are very fast paced so you spend most of the time writing instead of actually understanding the material. Expect a ton of homework. And the tests look nothing like the practice problems he does in class or in the homework. I highly recommend you choose a different professor.
Let's just cut right to the chase with this guy: DON'T TAKE HIM, unless he's the only option available or the professors get switched at the last minute, which was the case with me. If you HAVE to take HIM, hang in there, pay attention to the basics of the material in class, and use that to complete the homework and work out hard examples later.
Aslam goes through every step necessary to understand and is helpful, but you have to constantly be asking and on top of your grades. His exams are max 15 questions and are usually modeled after the toughest review questions. Do the reviews over and over and find someone to do them with. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR GRADE AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER!!!!
He is the worst professor. Don't take him
Worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't care about the students, and his accent is incomprehensible. He hates explaining. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION!!!
Nadeem Aslam is a terrible, terrible professor. He's repetitive, his accent makes his lectures impossible to understand, and he's just irrational and rude. He's not understanding at all, makes you complete 3 different homework assignments within a week (worksheet, 20-60 online questions, online quiz). DON'T TAKE THIS PROF UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST
He's disorganized, constant HW, explains easy problems but has hard ones on exam. He hesitates and confuses himself while giving lectures. I learned more doing the online HW. He seems nice but this is math, a lot of people need help understanding. Also gets mad when you aren't paying attention like moving in your chair or smiling for no reason @FIU
He's very monotone, and his lecture's are a waste of time. I learned more doing the online homework than in his actual class. Won't prepare you for written portions of exams. Gives I-clicker question at the end of class. He picks on you if you get late to class. Horrible teacher, would not take again.
I can tell this guy care about his students and wants them to pass, but his lectures won't help you. It's already hard to understand pre-calculus in general, so taking him won't be behoove anyone. I suggest looking somewhere else. He knows the subject is hard so he will actually try his best to give extra credit, but (for me) it's not that much.
Aslam looks like a very caring person, but when it comes to understanding him that's a different story. He has a very thick Indian accent so his teaching is terrible. I learned most of the material outside of class. The class itself was pretty easy if you do the work and do the labs, so attendance isn't mandatory if you don't care about Iclicker.
All of the HW was online and honestly you learn everything through the website. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. You will be more than fine with just the access code. If you don't take the in class quizzes, pre-class assignments, and HW your grades will drop a lot. Just go turn in your stuff and you're guaranteed at least a B.
DONT... DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANNA WASTE YOUR TIME. I did not fail the class. But if you have another option goooo. This guy is hard to rate, you cant even imagine. Tests are weird, the way he solves the problem will drive you crazy. No lo hagas.
He's nice but it is not easy understanding his accent. In class, he just writes down examples from the textbook. He does not really like explaining himself so much but as long as you put the effort he would do anything to help you pass his class.
Prof Aslam was horrible. He has a heavy accent but he couldn't really teach. He would confuse himself and have to go back and correct his examples. No point in going to class because I learned almost everything by myself at home. Grades test horribly and gets mad at you for simple things like asking another person for help or moving in your chair.
Professor did not let me make up first exam due to family emergency. Thick accent makes him difficult to understand and he often makes errors in examples he shows. Very lackluster. Prepare to fall asleep in class listening to his lectures.
He is a nice guy but his tests are super difficult compared to the examples he solves in lectures. The problems he includes in his offline homework and tests are strange and very difficult. Online homework is easy but there are sometimes 2-3 assignments due in a week.
Took this class about two years ago and had to make sure to say that this has to be the worst math class I've ever taken in my college career. Aside from the accent he has that's hard to understand, very hard to understand his teaching strategies unless you have prior experience in precalc. Lots of quizzes, exams and homework, excessively too much.
It's not easy understanding his accent but he does his best to make sure you understand his lectures. He's not that bad. As long as you do your best and talk to him about anything you're having problems with, he will help you out and make sure you pass his class.
This teacher is not bad by any means! He was extremely helpful both inside and outside of class, gives reviews for tests, gives extra credit, and lectures clearly and slowly. If you do the HW, and study the test reviews you will have a good grade. He does have an accent but it is understandable, people on here tend to over-exaggerate. Very nice guy
Gives detailed instructions on how to complete problems STEP by STEP. Very helpful, but a bit boring at points. Please stay off cell phones, it's one of his biggest pet peeves. As he takes attendance every class, it is not mandatory and will not affect your grade. It is a good idea to attend classes because he reviews how to complete each problem.
Doesn't lecture at all during class time. Homework is harder than tests and quizzes. You have to teach yourself through the online book. Really good with getting back to emails.
worst professor ever. if you want to fail take the class with him you won't understand anything from him, if you'll say a word to your friend in the class he'll kick you out and he'll take it personally. I don't really recommend for you to take the class with him.
Please do not take Professor Aslam. He copies questions done in textbook, but does not review them. His tests are not based on what you learned. Mylabsplus helps you, but the class consisted of mostly self-teach and YouTube. He responds to email but will not answer question about grades. There is a dept review but nothing compares to tests.
He is.. difficult. Kicks people out of class for whispering..? Attendance is taken after class so you HAVE to stay the entire class. He has a very thick accent so he is very hard to understand. He does give partial credit on tests/quizzes so that is an upside. I did pass but I wouldn't take his class again.
Do not take this professor if you have another option. I am a straight A student, passed calc for business with A, didn't even need to take the final But I got a B in this class. All assignments online are supereasy (quizzes and hw) But he makes the exams and the questions are really confusing and difficult compared to hw questions.
Really nice and understanding guy, but I am usually very good at math and did terrible in this class. He takes 20 minutes to explain 1 problem, leaving you with so many questions for the homework and quizzes. Tests are impossible if you haven't taken Calculus before or just not very good at math. Really don't recommend if you have more options.
Nice professor but this class does not do it for me, as someone who is good at math this class was a joke you walk in and do the same woorksheets you did for homework the night before. No teaching you just sit there in groups doing your work with no other directions. This class is not difficult if you do your homework and stay on task with the work
He did not teach AT ALL. Tons of worksheets to do in class and one question quizzes at the end. He actually grades the homework especially the conceptual ones.
Professor Nadeem was a great professor all the other students on here talking about his accent are just mad cause they failed. He is a very caring person and teaches amazing just do EVERYTHING HE SAYS TO PASS
Okay so professor Aslam was one of the nicest teachers Ive ever had its just he gave way too much homework and I can tolerate his accent. As long as you work good you get good grades !
The test are nothing like the my lab HW, hard to understand, got to the point when the average grade for a test was 20-30.
very difficult class, takes very long to do each problem, the tests are nothing like the homeworks or classworks.
Avoid at all cost. Extremely disconnected from the student, just stands at the board and lectures. Does not stop or take questions. Test are nothing like the homework. Bad experience for an interesting class.
His lectures are boring, and hard to understand. All he does is lecture, no group work, no interactive activities, and if you make any noise he will call you immediately. His tests are lot harder than his homework and study guide. Would not recommend.
Professor Nadeem is very nice and really cares for his students but the class is just so much work. DON'T take it if you don't need too!!! He does explain maybe not in a great way but he does tries. The test are a bit complicated not to mentioned that are 4 test in total plus a final, he does drop the lowest score.
When I took this class I saw students watching games on their phones and talking and then they wonder why they fail. Professor Nadeem is a great teacher as long as you listen and pay very close attention.
So the concepts taught are a cake walk for anyone who has taken algebra 2 or above. The work is there but can be easily done in the lab. However, my main gripe with him is how he grades this work. It isn't hard mind you, but he tends to knock points off for criteria that was never mentioned. Also you can't see your grade on canvas for some reason.
Absolute angel! never hesitates to help or give opportunities to improve your grade throughout the semester. lots of group work but he always lectures before. most caring professor.
Anyone who says that his classes are hard... those people just dont study and want everything easy. Smh.
Super sweet and gives you the chance to re-submit work. He drops your lowest test grade. The class itself is very easy and the textbook is helpful.
I honestly feel some people are a little bit unfair to nadeem, he likes to bend a rules a bit and gives you many opportunities to give you extra credit. he will also help you take a test or exam if you happen to forget your id. he is very sweet and cares about his students.
Reading some of the reviews on here discussing how they failed, well it was because they never paid close attention and were busy texting. Professor Nadeem is one of the best teacher I've ever had he explains well teaches great techniques but you have to pay close attention.
Prof. Aslam is a really nice and caring professor. For this course you only show up once a week and you get an easy 1 question quiz at the end of the class for a grade.(most people share the answer for it). Many opportunities for extra credit and he lets you make up missing work and even correct test problems. Show up to class and you'll do fine
Although he wasn't the best math professor I've ever had, he isn't as bad as the other reviews make him out to be. He even let us make up any assignments we wanted a higher grade on at the end of the semester. However, he's only helpful if you approach him, and he doesn't form much of a relationship with students. Easy class if you study.
chill professor, has an accent but easy to understand.
At first he seemed nice considering the reviews he has but he is not helpful. We have assessments every other week that decides our grade for the semester and he doesnt provide reviews beforehand. He doesnt state clearly how he wants us to answer his questions for the assessments. He is also hard to reach out to and talk to because he has no care
The professors teaching style is bland and boring. He lectures as if he's reading off a script and doesn't involve his students while lecturing. his accent is bearable but his enthusiasm for the class is low. He teaches like a substitute teacher. His test are somewhat difficult but demand a decent amount of study time. An easy class made difficult.
Um he's a great person but probably my worst teacher ever. No student participation at all and doesn't make learning enjoyable. If you care about you GPA avoid at all costs.
Trust me DO NOT TAKE HIM. He literally does not care about his students AT ALL. Please do not take him lmao. He gives no reviews, tests are nothing like the work, and talks like a zombie. With the virus going around, he never mentioned it and acted like it never happened. All the workload stayed the same and does not answer questions. The Worst.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He does not explain concepts properly and does not give reviews for the tests. The only time we got a review was when we complained and he gave us a 78 question review for a test that was only 3-5 questions. He's nice, but that doesn't really matter when what he teaches in class is different from what comes on the tests.
This professor makes easy concepts very confusing. He has a very thick accent as well. If you have a good base for the concepts and you watch videos on the lectures you will be fine. He is very understanding and will let you make up homework. Grading criteria is confusing but is an easy A long as you pass all of the assessments and keep up with hw.
Class was okay. There is mylabplus, canvas work, and library hours you have to do. Its simply just too much & assignments are due so close to each other. You really have to stay on top. Professor was nice though & has super heavy accent
Very good teacher
If you have no other choices, then he would be an good one. I think he was very sweet and tried to help, but he's teaching style doesn't work for a lot of people. Honestly the course itself is pretty easy and if you're able to teach yourself, you'll manage to get a good grade in his class.
His teaching style was confusing and he took away points from the homework for the smallest things
Read most of the feedback my man nadeem got and Im kinda mad he was amazing and caring! Yeah he doesnt show much enthusiasm but are we here to learn or have fun. Overall I learned a lot as his techniques in Math were amazing HE IS A GENIUS!
He doesn't teach you anything and leaves you to learn it all yourself through homework. I have no idea how such an individual works at this school it disgusts me.
He doesnt not teach almost at all, does live polls before class starts, and arrives late constantly
Great professor made sure we had extra help! He makes sure were always ready for the test by making study guides!
He is super confusing in lectures. He makes the simplest lecture into the most confusing one. He has a very heavy accent that restricts sometimes. Nice man, tries to help when he can, but I would not take this class again. I have to literally teach myself the lecture when I go home.
Legit steer as far away as possible from this class. He took easy topics and explained them in the most complicated way humanly possible. Anyone who left with an A already had extensive knowledge of math/ had tutors on the side. He is extremely hardheaded, does not check his email, assigns far too much busywork, and has the thickest accent ever.
Nadeem is from India which makes his accent very difficult to understand. You need to take 4 tests that equal 11% of your grade and a final worth 25%. There are a lot of assignments you have to do and are required to attend 2 hours a week at the math lab and 1 hour in the math gym and do pre-class assignments. Test Reviews are what made me pass.
Professor Aslam is an alright teacher. I took him for a relatively easy course which meant he was there for assigning work and helping with challenges, not necessarily teaching the subject. I do not recommend him for challenging courses. The was 4 solo projects, a pre-class assignment, in-class worksheet (did not turn in), and two HW assignments.
this professor has the heaviest accent. his lectures are explained in a way that i can teach my self. he confused me and made my time in that class unbearable. the amount of workload is too much. and likes to work in groups with the tables, which in my opinion SUCKS
After reading all of the reviews, I felt really bad. He is a really nice professor and blaming your lack of understanding on his accent is not the way to go. At the end of the day, you need to actually put effort and attend the review sessions he has before tests. I think I just failed the first test, but I could have done more.
Professor Nadeem was a great prof this summer ! I enjoyed the class and it was very easy.If you work hard that A is very easy to achieve !
Personally this professor was great. He is very caring and his work is easy. If you pay attention to the lecture and do all your work it is do able.
Do the homework, listen to the lecture, and study a lot and you will pass.
Do the homework/test reviews and study on your own time. You can pass with at-least a C if you manage your time properly.
he was the reason I finally passed math on my 4th attempt. he gives a lot of homework but it really helped to understand the topics. responds fast if you message him for homework help. class was manageable & his accent was not a problem at all.
Hard to understand, mathlab will help you more than him
The class itself is harder than expected, lectures are kind of hard to keep up with and your grade will be defined by test results (there are many). However, Nadeem cares a lot for students and will help you as much as possible to pass the class. If you study a lot and attend to the math lab for help you can pass the class.
Got a B but I don't blame the professor for that. His material was good and it helped me study for the exams. The homework also helped when it came to exams. Although I passed the class, I will try to do better. Professor Nadeem was great and he truly just wants to see his students do well.
RATING: 0/0 THIS PROFESSOR IS HORRIBLE, HE CHANGES HW, TEST, AND ASSISIGNMENTS WITHOUT TELLING YOU! ONCE HE DOES NOT LIKE THE WHOLE CLASS HE WILL FAIL YOU! I WAS PASSING THE CLASS AND THEN I STARTED FAILING IT BECAUSE OF HIS MISCOMMUNICATION! WORST PROF IN FIU.
He's nice but his teaching style is not for everyone. But super easy course, it's pretty much basic middle school/high school algebra plus a little bit of pre-calc. Quizzes are identical to homework, and you're allowed to retake them. If you can have enough self-discipline to do the homework and study a little on your own, you'll end with an A.
Tbh I would never take this teacher ever in my life. The WORST professor EVER he literally changed the grading system halfway into the semester and made the attendance literally majority of ur grade. If you miss one class. It drops ur grade like a whole letter. PRETYY PLS DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
Took this class during the summer. Weekly exams covering multiple topics were worth 80% of your grade. Very nice guy, but he is a tough and picky grader, his lectures are pretty much pointless to attend as he overcomplicates even the simplest of topics and does so for almost the entirety of the class time. Online resources are what got me through.
I took Prof Aslam during Summer 2023. I am a student with a job (28-35 hr/wk) and average 12 credits each semester. if you really want to get an A, you'll easily get it but you will have to work for it. So many chances to pass the learning goals in class and in math lab. He gives everything you need to need and he is a really Nice person.
I enjoy my math lab sessions. I am able to get my homework done and enjoy studying.
It doesn't matter how good you do on your homework and quizzes, if you fail a test you fail the class. He has few lectures so if your gonna learn you gotta teach yourself. Gives retakes which help but it doesn't help that he replaces retakes with what little time we have to learn the formulas. Do not recommend if you'er a slow learner.
Maybe hes a good person, but as a teacher, just dont. Unless you're good at teaching yourself, then take this teacher if you want a free period. It doesn't matter if you show up to class, it doesn't matter if you do/dont do the homework, it doesn't matter if you do or don't do the pre-class assignments. You need to pass the exams. He does not teach
I do not suggest taking this professor for Social Choice. He does not lecture very well. He also is terrible at explaining expectations. During my time in his class, I emailed him a few times about an assignment, and it took the whole semester for him to fix the grade. His lectures are difficult to understand.
He does not teach. Doesn't seem to care if you understood the work or not. Allows retakes which help sometimes. If you have this professor be prepared to teach yourself. And if you actually want to learn something from this class pick another professor.
He isn't a bad person but he definitely doesn't teach. He does lectures but then doesn't explain it well and it's very hard to get a hold of him outside of class and even during class. The LA's don't help much either.
The reality of this class like most college algebra classes are that you teach yourself. Prof Nadeem lectures are uninformative and difficult to understand. You're better off going into lab room and learning from someone else. As long as you attend the labs attendance isnt mandatory. His lectures are pointless just log into the assignment.
Aslam is not an engaging teacher, but he is aware of the subject. Due to the class size, I suppose that's why his teaching style is just rewriting a worksheet. His classes don't invite questions or engagement, very boring. But MAC1105, is a failing class for many. You cannot depend on the teacher to pass, but I suggest another professor.
It's so difficult to understand him and treats students as if ti was school and not university
took for college algebra and MAC 1147. i couldn't understand him i had to teach myself for the year. he gives a pre class assignment and a homework every week. you get tested on the module every other week with reassessment opportunity. if you don't mind teaching yourself id recommend this class it was very easy
I took the class online and it was hard to navigate through the textbook and compare it to what you actually needed to learn. You can pass the class, you just need to 100% know what you are taking a test on. Tests are weekly, and unit tests are about every other week.
Professor Aslam's classes can be a bit dry, but with some self-discipline and the help of resources like unstuck ai, you can get a good grasp of the material. Definitely take advantage of the retake options.
Honestly, just avoid him if you have another option. Took him in spring 2025 and he does not teach at all. Lectures are all through playposit videos which aren't helpful. In class you just do assignments. He doesn't care about his students either. I don't recommend unless you're very good at calculus. Attendance is mandatory, no excuses.
He is a horrible professor; he overcomplicates the easiest subjects. He spent too much time talking, and he didn't even finish explaining the topics
where do I even start lol. Horrible!!! I usually never leave reviews but if I can save one student DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR. He overcomplicates the subjects, repeats the same thing 50 times, the workload is crazy and I've taken homework heavy classes before.. nothing like this one. Due dates 4 times a week and I've taught myself every topic👎🏻
Not lenient when it comes to grading, makes the easiest things so complicated, so hard to pass a test. I took the class in person and would not recommend it to anyone. The class was so miserable and horrible to sit through
Do not take this class, honestly so bad, you can't pass anything. He is so hard to understand, and for someone very bad at math, this class is not easy, and he doesn't make it any easier.
Do not take! cant stress this enough, so hard to understand and makes everything so complicated, he is not understanding and and won't hear you out on anything
I took Finite Math with him back in Fall 2022 so idk how much has changed. But I do remember having to teach myself the topics in the math lab. Going to class was just for the attendance grade; lord knows I wasn't learning anything from him. If you're someone who needs math to be slowly explained to you, I would try my luck with someone else.
I am not clear how professors like Professor Nadeem are allowed to teach. He does not teach anything. Avoid at all costs
I would NEVER take this class. If you MUST and have no other choice go ahead but you better be good at math. He makes no sense, his accent is very hard to understand. *Copies what is on his paper exactly on the board*. Nothing he says makes sense. He doesn't like his students thats VERY clear. Please please avoid him.I entered believing he'd be good
Avoid at all costs. He does not know how to teach. I do not understand how is he allowed to teach at FIU? Horrible experience.
I would recommend taking a different professor for this course, he is an ok professor but, makes things complicated and draws on, daily attendance quizzes at the end of class so you cant leave early even after he's done teaching and you got the assignment, the test are worth so much of your grade, a lot of homework.
Avoid this teacher. He doesn't know how to teach he just writes what is on his paper to the board. Gets angry with his students if they dont take him seriously which is hard to do given he is very hard to understand and isn't very helpful.I'm not sure how he is allowed a Job there. Get another teacher unless you're ready to learn the material urself
if you love your life and would like to have a smooth semester don't take this professor. He makes no sense at all even if you try to understand him once you start getting the material he finds a way to confuse you even more. If you like to be challenged and you want a stressful semester go ahead and take him
hate this guy he can not teach!!!
Don't take him. he doesn't teach, and expects you to know everything. He is not helpful when you ask questions, and he comes off as rude. Only good thing is that he tries to give extra credit and easy assignments but they don't help. Every exam has 4 parts, all with 5 questions he does offer retakes but you get 1 question wrong you're cooked.
Not efficient at all when it comes to lecturing. You could copy down exactly whats on what he draws up on the board and youll be lost. He is also super unprofessional when it comes to assistance and emails as he will rarely provide help. Grade system is also very exam dependent Avoid this professor.
Avoid him if you can. Workload is okay, there's a Pearson assignment that can range from 20-50 questions for hw, and a pre-class assignment every week due before class. He's very understanding when it comes to late work and allows it. Always changing his teaching method and his lectures don't make sense. Taught myself everything, and LAs helped.
Clearly does not prepare his students for the concepts and material needed to pass. He also is very difficult with accommodation for exam times if it conflicts. Will confirm you for days then tell you last minute you cant take the exam at that time. Do not take him.
If you do your work, it'll pay off! I will agree that his lectures did not make sense to me half of the time, but the LA's were really the backbone of his class and were the ones who made me understand the material. I wouldn't say he's horrible, he's okay! Most of the time, you will learn by Pearson given that all of the exams are on Pearson.
He changed up his teaching methods and structure of the course when we were more than half-way through. My course setup had me attending class 3 days of the week and there were always TAs there walking around answering questions. They were more helpful than the professor. Multiple times, the answers on his quiz were wrong answers. Not tech savvy.
This is a very difficult course and he is very disorganized. I failed the class and now I have to retake it again. Please consider choosing a better professor.
worst professor at fiu. he is extremely unorganized, the tests weigh extremely heavy on your grade, and he sometimes doesn't give feedback on what you got wrong. his lectures also are super boring and make no sense. the only good thing is that you're able to retake the tests but i would still avoid him at all costs.
Do NOT choose this professor. You skip class once, you don't get an A. The lectures are actually horrible. I was also in and out of the hospital for almost 2 months due to mono so naturally I missed class. I showed him like 20 screenshots of proof so I can get my absence excused and make up the work to raise my grade and he didn't care at all.
Be prepared to teach yourself throughout this entire course. All he does is yapp and when you ask for help, he repeats himself. If you manage to get a good LA on Friday, then you MIGHT have a chance at passing this class. Good Luck
1. Lectures are not clear at all even when you ask questions he over explains and overcomplicates,to negate this lock in with an LA or TA (Kevin) taught me the most. 2. You'll be teaching yourself, to pass exams and learn the content take the practice questions on Pearson because the classwork is harder than thee actual exams lol. 3. He's petty
