He is nice, helpful, funny, good instructor, and he's always there to help you when you need him the most. I strongly recommend him for your speech class, he is the best and i don't believe there is nobody else for this class but him.But don't be late to his class cause he don't like it. good luck. bye teacher.
Very Good teacher. Always helpful and will listen to everything he has to say. The last speech 106 I think most of the people got an A+. He likes to give As as long as you show up for class and participate on the speeches and field trips.
Great instructor! I've taken speech before and I can't even compare. Young instructor and extremely intelligent. Approachable. Not to mention hott. I learned a lot. He has reasonable expectations to get an A. He never made me feel stupid. He's straight to the point. Incorporates a variety of influences in music, history etc. A no-brainer, Take Him!
I liked his class at first. He is a hard grader, but we only did 3 speeches this sem. He's very OPINIONATED. Good opinions but, come on.. he rambles. And he can be sarcastic towards the students. But he was pretty cool. But I stll don't like the class, I think he could be more creative with his lectures.
Passionate about debating. Debate torunament required to pass class. Will not assign text book. Do 6 debates and you have an A garanteed. Pretty cool dude, will try to persuade to add his other classes.
This class was fun. many people are afraid of public speaking, but it's not that bad. Teacher is down to earth.
One of the most down to earth instructors I've ever had the pleasure of having.
3speeches. Take home midterm/final. 10 assignments. You MUST Email him if your going to be absent. If you don't there is a chance that you won't be able to do the speech. His class is easy at first, but later on it gets hard. If your not good at giving speeches, the highest grade you can get is probably a B. No reading/need eye contact
3 speeches. Take home midterm/final. 10 assignments. What a cool dude!! I learned a lot from him. He is very talented teacher. Take his class!!
I had added johnson's class firts for 101 and it scarred me 4 life! he put me on blast during my speech! Haddad has a way to relate to you and make you feel comfortable! he also gave extra time if the class wasnt ready!
I loved the class from the Winter Session. Haddad is the best speech teacher i ever had. The way he teaches is brilliant. The speeches were kind of easy.
Mr. Haddad is extremely brilliant when it comes to Speech. Maybe a total of 3-5 speaches, take home exams, lenient about grading, gives extra credit by going to 1hr. library lectures, and very few in-class assignments. Highly recommend him - he is great!!
I'm taking him right now for summer school and he is an awesome teacher. Although he is very young, he is very intelligent and takes the course serious. He does not act his age and is very mature! I really like the challenge he brings to the course! Would Recommend him! A lot better than Ferinany!
Mr. Haddad! This guy is an amazing professor. His speeches inspire you to achevive higher standards. He encouraged me so much that I want to join the Debate Team and take as many classes with him as possible. I recomend this Teacher. Hands down the best instructor I have ever had!! And Don't try to BS him he'll catch you slipping.
pretty cool understandable altough he speaks to fast good isntructors and very dedicated to his students first two speeches are fun but persusisive is challenging.
pretty cool understandable altough he speaks to fast good isntructors and very dedicated to his students first two speeches are fun but persusisive is challenging.
Prof Haddad was a really cool. He makes you more comfortable with the idea of public speaking. He lets you know what he expects from your speeches and outlines- so take it seriously! He grades fair. Don't miss class or it will be detrimental towards your overall grade. I highly recommend him for speech, especially if you dread taking the class.
Very cool but grading is kind of unfair. Picky grader. Also, I averaged my grading myself and I averaged an 89 overall and he still gave me a B for the semester.
Haddad exceeded my expectations. he really cares about the students success. he does give a few extra credit opportunities, grades fair. if you want a good grade you just have to show up, participate have your outlines and be there on speech day. he takes into account how much effort is put into a speech and not solely on the delivery. take him!
I took Professor Haddad last summer for Speech 101 and he made me feel really comfortable with public speaking. If it wasn't for him, I don't think I would have been able to over come my fear of speaking in front of people. I am taking him for Argumentation and I enjoy his class very much, not an easy course, but worth the challenge!
caught myself day dreaming about him at time during class while he was lecturing. lol great professor. clear, passionate, organized and encourages students to join debate. pretty chill, just don't get him mad. show up to class or you might now be able to do the next speech!
he is amazing! if you have to take speech and are not comfortable with the idea take him because he will make it easy. he will expect you to do your work but if you struggle with the delivery he will take into account effort. i had and 89% but i was never absent and participated he gave me an A. loved his class. ap
Like someone else said on here, he grades harshly. He's a coach for the debate team, but even sport coaches take it easier on their PE students. Speeches take too much from the grade. There's not much time to improve between speeches in summer course especially since he doesn't give tips to compensate for it. No extra credit opportunity.
Haddad is one of the best teachers ive ever had. He really knows his stuff. He really encourages you to think and doesnt shut you down or shut you up, like some teachers do. Hes really intelligent and very helpful.I recommend his class to anyone.Loved being in this guys class since the first time i took him for speech 101.very comfortable with him.
Well, let me just put it out there, Professor Haddad is one handsome man! Aside from his looks he's very helpful and wants all his students to succeed. Energy in the class was amazing. Grades fairly. As long as you do all the assignments to the best of your ability, you'll pass. Not difficult at all. Especially since he's so good to look at...
he very cool I took him in the summer he is a tough grader and will give feedback.. he speak loud and clear and is very helpful especially since I am hard of hearing he made sure I understood him well. By far one of my favorite professors out of how many proffessors are willing to take the time to get to know you and work on your edu goals.
I took Mr. Haddad's Speech 101 in winter 2012. He was late very often and he was unorganized about the class. We had 3 speeches in the class. He let us spent the first weeks on the first speech so that we just had only two weeks for the other two speeches which are more import and difficult than the first one. In fact, we just have two days to --
I took the Winter class and it was a disaster! He kept delaying the scheduled speeches and ended up making students to stay for hours after class to give speeches. Never received any feedback on the speeches. Very nice guy, but very disorganized.
Taken during winter. The topics addressed were interesting, but were only touched on in a superficial manner. Haadad was very unorganized and provided very little feedback. Felt extremely rushed for the last two speeches since we were only given a week to prepare for them. Try your best and don't read off your outline. It's manageable.
Prof. Haddad is a very good professor. He makes the topics covered in class interesting and easy to understand. He is articulate, funny and engaging. I'm very happy that I took his class because I had no interest in speech beforehand and he made me enjoy this subject very much.
Heard he was a good teacher. I've now realized that he is a good teacher only in the major semesters. Avoid Summer and Winter! Will be very unorganized, and will only do about a quarter of the world prescribed on the syllabus.
Amazing professor! Im terrrified of speaking in front of others, but enjoyed Speech after taking his class. He helps his students by providing feedback and advice without humiliating us and encourages us to find our voice. I took him for the winter and was prepared to handle the fast pace by working hard. He IS passionate about the topics covered!
Relatively easy class. 2 in-class & 1 online. First speech was in front of 15 people because he split the class into groups, which was very helpful because we were all very nervous. Final is a 1 minute speech. He's not very organized and we fall behind because he was busy planning his wedding. If you miss a speech day he deducts a few points.
dont be surprised if you get a C better than nothing. this teacher is awesome he totally knows his stuff very helpful expects you do do work and grades pretty rough depends on his mood. otherwise he is very willing to help and make sure your topic is interesting. I am surprise he is friendly and approachable to ask qustions.
This teacher as great I was so worried abt taking speech but he made it easily he helps you and makes it easy to stand in front of class. He knows stuff. Do your work and come to class. If you hate public speaking he will help you get over that fear.
Professor Nader is very fair and reasonable. I got very bad speech anxciety once and he was very understanding. He uses elequant words at times but considering he is a speech professor I guess its expected. Do your work, present what u have, don't give him a head ache andbul be a-ok.
He can be harsh when it comes to grading, but it's all to improve your speaking skills. Come prepared to class and you'll do fine. Bonus* Not bad to look at :)
He is relatively easy, not a hard grader. Moody though. 5 speeches, including 1 minor. He shows support when u above to give ur speech, which could really help with the anxiety. Really organized class and clear on requirements. Do not take him, if you dont like writing outlines.
Intense, driven, articulate and very dedicated instructor. Mr. Haddad is very skilled in his profession and a student requires a tough skin to complete his course. His comments are like sheet lighting, like the crack of a whip. I recommend this instructor but be prepared with your assignments and be punctual. Recommended!
Professor Haddad is an excellent professor. I loved his class but dreaded it at the same time because he really makes you come out of your comfort zone (that's a good thing). His class was tough--he's the debate coach for god's sake--but he will definitely help you become a better public speaker, which is a vital life skill. Take him!But be warned!
Professor Haddad is a great instructor I'm currently taking his communication 101 class in the winter quoter and I have to say is a handful class. 4 speeches in 5 weeks is really hard to do especially since he expects you to follow specific instructions.
Haddad is a great instructor I'm currently taking his communication 101 class in the winter quoter and I have to say his a really good teacher. Lectures are interesting he expects his students to participate and talk to each other for feedback. 2 test and 4 speeches can be a handful during 5 weeks I would rather take him during a regular semester
Professor Haddad is a great teacher but he sucks at giving feedback. He can also be a challenge and put you in the spotlight. Also the fact that we have to present a speech in a PowerPoint sucks because he expects u to have your OWN computer and crumble 2 speeches in the last week
Gives feedback but hard grader. Really unorganized during the winter semester he crumble 2 speeches during the last week. Also hate the fact that we have to do outlines for our speeches which he expects you to follow instructions when it comes to outlines. Be prepared and be punctual. procrastination is not your friend. Hard grader so be aware
Did not like this class at all. Haddad was a very unorganized teacher and just plain rude. His sarcasm was evident throughout the course and was not very helpful at all. I did not like how he rubbed his beliefs upon the class and expected us to just agree with him. Save yourself and don't take his class.
As a person professor haddad is a great man, but when it comes to grading his tough. Do NOT read from an outline he hates that and that's a automatically a C. 4 speeches 2 persuasive and 2 informative speeches. 2 test. Reflections and evaluations. U can tell who are his favorites and make sure u always cite to reclaim ur info
Doesn't follow accreditation rules. No grade breakdown on syllabus, doesn't return hw, & no clear grading system. When I asked for a grade explanation, he told me to stop nitpicking & he didn't have time to deal with me. He gives bad grades to good speakers. Had to subtly threaten to report him for not meeting standards to get the grade I deserved
Had him for sp101 last spring & 104 last winter. I got A's both times.Im a good speaker but I tend to read off my outline alot. He kept threatening to give Cs for that, but if u make up for it with being loud&energetic, hell let it go.He can be blunt, especially during winter, but he is clear & direct in his expectations and he is a nice guy overall.
Taking this class was fun! I really enjoyed it, I got some good tips and no longer fear public speaking. He is fair and willing to help students out. I definitely recommend this class with Prof. Haddad.
Overall he's a pretty easy teacher and laid back. I for one am always looking for extra credit and he offered lots of it. Make sure to show up to every class and just do the work. I expected to get a B and ended up with an A. Highly recommend him.
TBH im taking reading 20 and i was able to pass with an B I only missed 2 times and plz dont be late he dosnt like that much . . . alot of reading and hw as well he is amazing im taking com 104 for the fall
He will yell loud at you if it looks like you aren't listening to him or if you don't understand what he's saying.
He's absent a lot without notice, no email, and no announcement in the previous class meeting. Presentations are pushed back for weeks so you can better prepare yourself, just show up and participate in groups he assigns you in. If you're comfortable and relaxed with speaking in front of the class or a group then take his class. That's your grade.
This professor is absent too much and that causes you to run behind on assignments such as speeches. You are to know where to find your assignments in his page if not you will be lost. You are to be comfortable in speaking in front of class.
Easy professor. Took him for two courses; comm 104 and comm 190 & got an A in both courses. Just make sure you communicate with him and ask for details if you get lost. Don't be scared to approach him that's what defines the difference between an A student and a B student.
Good Professor. Show up to class and do the work and you should be good. Be prepared to do speeches.
He never helped us with the speech and randomly taught things that we don't need for our speeches. He always gave out hw to do and never collected them. He pushed forward the speeches like 3 times. I am worried for my grade right now because he has collected NOTHING. This is the Spring semester and past spring break. Still have not done any speech.
If you need to take comm 101. take it with him. He is good! He gives good feedback and educates in a refreshing style. He has made me a better public speaker for sure. Not much work other than outlines and knowing your speech whether it be persuasive or informative. Overall, he is a good choice and even has his own website! You won't be let down.
Haddad is a wonderful professor. He's an intelligent person and he cares about his students. He's very chill and jokes around sometimes. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you find yourself doubtful about passing. You most likely aren't. Take the course serious, you'll learn a lot & you'll pass. The debate topics are relevant and they are so fun!
I would recommend anyone to take this class. It will help you get more comfortable with giving speeches in front of your class. It's pretty much mandatory at this point which is a great way to expose you to that type of environment. Very beneficial.
Not caring students that much and grading mainly based on your clarity of word use; somewhat impatient
Group practicing was very helpful, he cares about his students and preps them before speeches . Make sure to be clear and speak up during your speeches, show up and be ready to participate (you'll be fine). Tip: try to make your audience laugh, this'll help you during your speech (helps control your breathing) and might help you boost your grade.
He is a good teacher , not hard at all, showing up, doing the speeches is you need to do, easy to pass i repeat easy to pass
He's really rude. talks too much about unnecessary things. misses class too much. doesn't help students at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM
One of my few favorite professors at ELAC. He definitely likes it when students participate in class, and the more you raise your hand the more chances on getting a better grade you have. His lectures are super cool because he makes it feel like its just a casual conversation, but it allows you to open up your mind more. I really learned a lot.
I felt he expects you to know the many different techniques of a debate (terms) almost no hw all semester but writing working on debate was done all week. Just do debates and youll b ok. No easy A here.
at first he talked about having debates at least 5 but we only did 2 he rushed us to do our final debate we only had 3 days he hardly arrives to class and if you asked him if you are having trouble he gets upset he expects you to know how to debate
Good professor, easy worksheet assignments that are due at the end of the semester. We did only one debate in class which isnt usually you and your partner against two other classmates and he lets you choose the topic which are mostly interesting. Would be late to class and miss quite a few times. Lectures were okay and book was used a few times.
A take-home exam, some homework and a debate - that is all this class is. There are only a few things you need to know: Syllogisms, Toulmin Model of Argumentation, and Logical Fallacies. Prove that you know these concepts both in your work and in your debate, and you will pass.
unprofessional, late, off-topic, delays assignments, tests, speeches, leaves class a lot. Spends too much time talking about seat chart, us participating rather than teaching, not funny. Doesn't finish sentences. No repetitive practice work. Recommend Philos: Logic in Practice before. You won't learn anything but easy pass. He just wants a check.
Haven't had this guy for a full semester and already I can tell he is no good! He's missed half the days since the beginning of the semester, in fact he missed the VERY. FIRST. DAY. Unorganized, leaves the room for such long periods of time, rambles on about nonsense and is not at all engaging because of it. Save your time, do not enroll!
He is a very engaging professor. This class is honestly impossible to fail. He is absent a few times. I took him for winter and only did two speeches the whole time. No other assignments.
My time in Nader's class was the most memorable of my college experience.
Hard to believe any of the negative feedback here. Nader is a chill, gives plenty of opportunities to pass, and a funny dude. However, this is a Communication class so expect him to want you to communicate in class and in front of others through zoom classes. Don't sign up, be a ghost and expect to pass easily. take a asynchronous class instead.
Pretty chill & cool professor. Took him for winter session. Just 4 speeches & extra credit offered. 2 exams.
I think professor hadad is a great professor took him in the spring 2022. He is a very caring professor and accepts late work. He accepted my late work due to me being not so good in life , so he is very understanding. He expects you to participate in class and will have some assignments. Overall a good professor
Professor Haddad was a great teacher. He is honestly very chill and if I could, I would retake the class just for fun. Very simple assignments, just make sure you're paying attention as you would with every other class but he was a great and funny professor. 10/10
Extremely unorganized. He was absent on the first day due to "technical issue." The canvas was set up after the first meeting (the one he missed), and it's very poorly set up, whereas most of the assignments are unpublished upon the deadline. Emailed him about the issue, and never responded. Avoid him if possible and take someone else.
Took for winter and honestly course structure was a bit all over the place. However 5-week classes aren't only hard for students but can be for professors as well based on whatever circumstances there may be. He is very understanding and cares about how you perform and only wants the best. Amazing professor.
Everyone's saying he's bad, but this is the easiest class ever. Ideal for non-majors, you come to class, do small debate exercises, and leave. No assignments (at least for our class), talks most of the class, 2 group research debates. Pretty great!
He is a little unorganized but his lectures are very informative. I learned a lot in his class.
Easy class, but a bit unorganized. Make sure you are fully prepared for speeches because he grades a little tough for those, but there is a lot of other assignments to balance out your grade. Camera and mic need to be on if you're taking his class online.
Nice enough guy, VERY disorganized and not tech savvy, expects us to know a lot. Mandatory class was a waste of time, always late. Meaningless class activities. Gave us 24hr to find time to do the final exam + 2 large final assignments and as he uploaded it one day before semester end. Harsh grader despite not being a good instructor himself.
Great professor. A tad unorganized and a bit of a harsh grader. Just show up on time and do the work he assigns and you'll be good. always willing to work with students .
