Nafees was a great choice for this class. He tries to get students to think about the counter argument a lot on heavy subjects especially. His assignments are fairly easy if you have an understanding on the topics you choose. If you need help outside of class he is more than willing to help. REPLIES TO EMAILS FAIRLY QUICK

Nafees has been one of my favorite professors here at BSU! His lectures are very interesting, and he always includes a point and counterpoint to each problem/situation. Keep in mind, he does require participation. He replies very fast and is willing to help with anything outside of class. I recommend his class for anyone wanting to take SOCWRK 101!

Dr. Alam was one of the best teachers I have had. I took his social work 101 class and I almost switched my major to social work because he taught the class so well. He is just all around a cool guy which makes his class fun to attend. I dont usually enjoy school but I enjoyed it because of this professor.

All papers/assignments returned in a timely manner, provided helpful feedback, widely respected by peers and students, clear grading criteria, assignments were fun and interesting, not a lot of mandatory outside reading, but provides some readings and videos that are relevant to current topics. Overall, a great laid back professional personality.

Dr. Nafees was a great teacher. He was super chill. We never had quizzes, exams, or assignments. Participation was important to him though. The essays and final project are important but he makes the grading and rubric very clear. Would definitely take him again.

Nafees is hands-down one of the best professors Boise State now has to offer. Social Work 101 by him made me so passionate to be in the field and his lectures always left me with something to chew on. He is understanding and only has about 5 quizzes and 2 essays. Would take 100 times over!

Nafees is a great professor. He strives to get you thinking outside the box, while also allowing you to maintain your own ideas and beliefs. He really broadened my mindset and the class was more about critical thinking and the importance of your values rather than grades and quizzes. Two main assignments in class are the midterm and final.

This is pretty much an easy class show up listen and learn. you only have 2 main assignments midterm and a final, hes not really strict on attendance but if you have to miss class for any reason he will work with you as well . The aspects of this class were based on learning values and critical thinking.

Nafees is an awesome professor. I had a couple of great chats with him after a few of our classes, and he's all around an awesome guy. He definitely encourages you to think for yourself, but also justify the way you think. I feel much more confident in my abilities as a student because of Nafees. Nafees has to be one of my favorite professors at Boise State. He is very clear on what he expects in his class, and is very easy to relate to. His class made me more interested in Social Work because of how broad it is. All in all, great professor who cares about his students success.

Dr. Nafees was excellent! He gave the perfect amount of assignments so that you felt you were actually working hard, but he did not over work you. He even took our other classes into consideration when making due dates. I enjoyed every one of his lectures and I left every class feeling like I learned something.

This course was a critical part of the semester as it gave relief to us students from busy work. I will for sure take what Ive learned from this course and apply it to my career! If you ever get the chance to take socwrk, TAKE IT WITH NAFEES!!! His lectures are amazing and a wonderful environment to get out of your comfort zone and get involved. He opened my eyes to so much! 10/10 recommend taking Nafees Social Work 101 class. He doesnt assign busy work and the two assignments we do have are clearly outlined and fit the material of the class perfectly. Hes super communicative and welcomes diversity in the classroom. He does require attendance, so if you plan on skipping class, this is not the one for you.

Professor Alam is Awesome! He is super outgoing, and incredibly knowledgeable. I appreciated that Nafees didn't require busy work, just two assignments throughout the entire semester. My favorite part about having Nafees as a professor was the fact that he was willing to be friends with everyone!

I am a pre social work student and I had Dr. Alam his first semester at BSU. He was amazing. Due to COVID we were not able to do our normal SL activities but he set up volunteer opportunities for SW students. Dr. Alam goes above and beyond for his students and community. 10000000/10 recommend even if you're not a SW student.

Highly recommend him, super nice and very understanding. His class was actually really fun and informative rather than just writing a long and boring research paper. I was scared to take a research class but am very glad I had a great experience with his class.

Dr. Nafees has been my favorite professor by far. He's an extremely talented public speaker, as well as very considerate and understanding of differen perspectives. There is no room for judgement, and my only word of advice is to prepare to become uncomfortable in the best way possible :)

Everyone talks about how easy this class is (which it is), but also get ready to feel uncomfortable in your views! Nafees does a good job making sure every side to every argument is presented and gone over, so everyone is represented! If you like controversial topics discussed, this is the class for you!

Professor Alam is very supportive and wants to see you succeed. However, this class is heavy in participation as long as you show up to class and do the assignments you will pass this class. Nafees was my favorite professor I've had at BSU so far. His class was the only class I looked forward to going to and his way of teaching was truly inspiring. We didn't have many assignments because he doesn't do "busy work." I think its because of this that I was far more open to learning. I learned more in this class than any other so far.

Nafees made all of his classes very interesting and I was always excited to go. Nothing we did in that class felt like a waste of time and there were very few assignments. He also brought in many guest speakers who talked about eye-opening topics. I would recommend this class to anyone.

Nafees is my favorite professor. His SOCWRK 101 was graded entirely on attendance, two assignments, a midterm, and a final. I only spent 10 hours the entire semester working on these things and got 100% on everything because he grades easily. His class was attendance heavy, but his lectures are fun and he has a lot of interesting guest speakers.

Nafees really cares about his students growth in learning. He just wants to see all of his students succeed to the best of their abilities. If you ever needed advice he would carve out the time to help you.

He uses philosophical viewpoints, Point-counter-point theory & provides a fun fresh way of learning in his class. class is easy, but has hard topics to discuss, very controversial class! He's also very nice, cares for students & is dedicated to improving the learning community!

I took Professor Alam for Foundations of Research I. Professor Alam does a weekly optional zoom to address questions and be available to his students which I found super helpful. He also has all assignments open from day one, so you know what is coming up and can work ahead. This was great since we had a 10 pg literature review due in week 6.

Dr. Alam is very knowledgeable in the course subject matter but is able to make the material approachable for all students. He is responsive and prioritizes getting back to his students in a timely manner when support is needed or questions arise. Great professor, highly recommended!

I truly cannot rave enough about this course. Professor Alam clearly seeks to help students grow both within and outside of the classroom. This was the first class I've taken where I felt a genuine excitement to complete the assignments we were given. He is extremely well thought out and this reflects within his class, he is a great speaker.

The class is Lecture heavy however the content is interesting, engaging and challenges you personally and academically. He has a very unique personality which is portrayed in his classes. I took this class as a requirement and his only request is you have to attend class, he literally has 5 assignments throughout the semester all that are like one paragraph and his TA grades them. We had a 10-year-old gymnast and onlyfans employee as our guest speakers. enough said.

This was my favorite class when I was dealing with my long and busy days. Nafees is very inclusive and very light on homework. You must come to class. This is a brave space, not a safe space.

Dr. Alam is really an amazing professor. His lectures are engaging but he will go from funny to serious very quickly. There is one topic in his UF 200 class that is very hard but other than that it is all very good.

This class was super easy, work only 4 assignments the entire semester. Attendance is mandatory and 50% of your grade. Lectures were often engaging and he gives a lot of time for students to participate, but he also seemed dismissive of some opinions that didn't line up with his own experience. Overall, I'd say it was a decent course.

Dr. Alam is genuinely the best professor I've had. He is more interested in seeing you learn and succeed than seeing you struggle with passing. I feel as though I learned more from this class than any other because of his approach. He keeps topics interesting and assignments to a minimum so you can focus on getting the most out of this course.

I would absolutely recommend Nafees for any class that you can.The class is very interesting and easy. If you show up you will pass. You get 50pts for attendance by the end of the semester and there are only four assignments and extra credit. This is the easiest class that I'm taking this semester. You will also have some interesting conversations.
