Took CHEM130 during Su22 term at UofM with Lalloo and he's absolutely amazing. First good chem prof I've ever had. Material is clear and concise and easy to understand, and he's very willing to meet with students to help. Overall a wonderful professor and NC State is very lucky to have him!
Dr. Lalloo was an amazing professor! He's passionate about Chemistry and his lectures are clear and easy to follow. His class wasn't difficult but that just may be due to his ability to make the content clear, easily accessible, and well-organized. He doesn't teach on extraneous materials that are not needed.
Dr. Lalloo is the best professor I've had. I took orgo with him at the UofM and he made a notorious class understandable and something I enjoyed. Dr. Lalloo is super invested in his students' success, always took the time to answer my questions, super approachable, and encouraging! Definitely would recommend taking one of his classes!
I LOVE this man, he is so energetic, and really cares. He is quite knowledgable, and understands how people learn. He always wants to help, and make things as easy as possible. He provides lots of resources, hw, answers, and study guides as well as practice exams super similar to the exam. Can't recommend him enough :)
I LOVE DR. LALLOO. I have him for Organic Chem 1 and he really is the best. He is very energetic in class and really tries to explain the content well. It is a very hard subject but he makes it very attainable. His homeworks are all completion and count for a whole exam grade. The exams are hard, but he gives you practice exactly like it to prepare
I absolutely loved this class! He truly is in your best interest and wants you to learn and understand concepts that can be difficult. He always gives good feedback and is willing to meet you via zoom for questions on the homework. He makes jokes a lot during lectures which makes coming to class fun.
Amazing and engaging lectures. Office hours are extremely helpful when needed. Uploads materials like study guides, practice tests and keys in a timely manner to aid in exam prep. Best professor I've had at NC State.
The best & most organized Prof I have had by far. Makes orgo fun, practice exams are very similar to the actual exams, problem sets are completion based. He posts the class notes, as well as study guides, records lectures, everything you need to succeed. Difficult but he encourages questions & will gladly discuss old topics if you need more help.
He is a great professor and it shows he really cares for his students and wants them to succeed. His tests are similar to his study guides which is really helpful. Make sure to pay attention in class and do the homework and you should do fine. Overall would take his class again and loved him as a professor.
Made organic chemistry so easy to understand and made sure you understood it as best as possible. Easily the best chemistry teacher I've ever had in my life.
If you have to take organic chem I highly recommend Lalloo. He wants to make the content as understandable as possible. He gives practice exams almost exactly like the exam with full videos explaining how to do the problems. Homework is a participation grade and counts for almost a test grade. The best professor I've had.
Professor Lalloo is amazing! Orgo is a hard topic but he makes lectures as fun and clear as possible. He gives practice exams before every test and they are very similar to the actual exam. Homework is just a completion grade and its good practice. I'm not a fan of chem but he makes it easy to do well! Hands down the best chem professor I've had!
I love Dr. Lalloo! One of the best chemistry professors there are. He is very understanding and kind and compassionate. He makes sure you know what is expected on every exam and has a lot of office hours before each exam.
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND! he is very empathetic; go to his office hours he will take the time to explain things to you and is such patient person. Go to lecture even though attendance is not required it really helps! (ps. naish if you're reading this please give us ec)
Dr. Lalloo is a great organic chemistry professor! He explains concepts in a way that can be easy to understand, and provides a lot of practice problems. His office hours are very helpful, and he is easy to approach. Would absolutely recommend taking him for CH 221 if you can.
A good teacher, a lot of improvement that can be done for his classes. gives easy examples in lectures hard questions in test. a practice test is different from actual test. worst thing is his Grading! grades answer boxes, never gives partial credit, takes points off too easy! No feed back on his grading policy. He's school mindset not collage one!
This is by far the best professor I have ever had at NC State. Organic chemistry is obviously not an easy topic, but it is very manageable with Professor Lalloo. He is very willing to work with his students and is very chill with homework. He dropped our lowest exam and gave us bonus points on one test. I highly suggest you take his courses.
Professor Lalloo was amazing for organic chem 1! He is young and makes his lectures engaging and funny. I found it easy to understand what he was teaching. He goes over many examples for each topic he discusses, so if you don't get it the first time don't worry. I never went to any office hours or SI and did fine in this class.
Dr. Lalloo definitely knows what he is talking about during his lectures and is very engaging in the classroom! My only bone to pick is about partial credit. At the beginning of the semester, there was absolutely no partial credit granted, even if you drew everything right but just forgot a lone pair or charge. I would still recommend taking him.
by far one of the most empathetic chemistry professors at state! I loved taking his class; ochem is a hard class by nature but he does not make it his goal in life to make it harder. I never skipped his lectures and attended his office hours regularly and I did better in his class than both gen chem classes. highly recommend!
I loved professor Lalloo! Listening to his lectures you can really tel how much he enjoys both teaching and chemistry. The tests were generally pretty straight forward and as long as you used the study material you did well. I would recommend him to anyone who has to take organic chemistry.
I really liked Professor Lalloo. I was worried about orgo but did better than I expected because of him. He obviously cares about chemistry and explains things really well during lectures. He also provides study guides and problem sets that are super helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
There were 4 exams + the final and a few credit based homeworks. If you're good at test-taking then definitely take this prof. It's hard to raise your grade because this class is so test heavy. He says he gives partial credit on tests, but he doesn't. Study the practice exams really well to do good on the exams. Basically no homework at all.
Dr. Lalloo is the best professor I have had at NC State. He loves teaching, which shows in how he made organic chemistry as fun as he did. There are only 4 tests and a final, so make sure you do the practice tests and problem sets, and you should be fine. He is a very approachable teacher and really cares about his students. I will miss his class!
Amazing professor. He makes Orgo 1 very understandable and his lectures are engaging. Take him if you can!
Dr. Lalloo was AMAZING! He made the orgo material easy to understand and tried to make the class more fun and enjoyable. The homework was participation allowing you to focus more on understanding and learning as opposed to getting it all correct for a good grade. The tests were not overly hard. I wish he was teaching orgo 2!!!
THE best professor I have ever had. He made difficult concepts easy to digest, and was extraordinarily engaging. I learned the material so well in this class that I am now tutoring organic chemistry in the ASC. He is young and understands how OUR generation learns best, which is something you won't find with older professors that have tenure.10/10
TAKE DR. LALLOO NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I have always had a difficult time with chem & Dr. Lalloo is the ONLY professor that has gotten me to understand Chem. He's very involved with his students, making the material understandable and lectures interesting. Easily the BEST Prof. I've had at State.
Professor Lalloo is my favorite Prof ever. He cares about his students and did everything to help us succeed. After every test, he made a video of himself taking it and how he would think each question through. He held multiple review sessions. Office hours were in a classroom so more students could attend. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Take OChem with him!! He is a wonderful professor who actually tries to explain the concepts to the entirety of the class, not just teach the top 5%. His teaching methods and explanations were always detailed and easy to follow. He also makes his own practice problems so they stay relevant to the course material. Very accessible outside class.
JUST TAKE HIM. best choice. Orgo is a difficult subject (I wouldn't say he makes it easy) but he definitely makes it able to get good grades if you study. Just pay attention to his notes during class and just make sure you understand the problems that he gives.notes are super understandable btw (a lot of professors don't have a understandable notes
Dr. Lalloo is undeniably one of the best teachers I have ever had. His works hard to accommodate to different learning styles and makes difficult concepts comprehensible. Homework only 1-2x a week and practice tests are very similar to tests. His lectures are super entertaining-I almost took OChem just to have him as a professor again. 1000/10.
Lalloo is wonderful. His lectures are easy to follow and he explains concepts very well. He wants students to understand the theory but does plenty of in class examples. Takes attendance on random days, but will work with you if you need to miss. Home works were both easy and relevant and test were EXACTLY like practice exams. 10/10
I had the pleasure of taking Professor Naish Lalloo's CH101 class last semester, and it was truly a standout experience. Professor Naish Laloo was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. They were always well-prepared for class, and their lectures were engaging. I would highly recommend his class
He was a phenomenal professor, I never liked chemistry before but Lalloo explained concepts effectively for anyone to understand. There was only 4 tests, lowest one dropped and identical to the study guide. Homework was assigned once or twice a week. His lectures were fun to listen to, was super relatable to students' struggles with the materials.
Amazing professor. His class convinced me to change my major to chemistry. Engaging and taught content in a comprehendible way. Provided lots of resources to students who need extra practice. Was very understanding and caring towards the entire class. Would 100% take his class again and hope to have him as a chemistry professor in the future!
Dr. Lalloo is a great professor and simplified his lectures to where they were more understandable. He made himself available outside of the classroom and truly takes interest in his students success. There are 5 exams throughout the semester which can be a lot. My grade would have done better if I did better on the exams.
Dr. Lalloo was great! His class was pretty easy if you took advantage of the practice tests and occasionally came to lecture. I get the impression he would be a better professor for organic chemistry, but he did a phenomenal job teaching CH 101 overall. Great class!
If you have the opportunity to take Lalloo, do it. I never found chemistry very interesting, but Lalloo made it very enjoyable and actually interesting. Best professor I have ever had.
Dr. Lalloo is by far the best professor I've had here at NC State. He is very straightforward with material and makes even the hardest of concepts easy to understand. Practice exams were incredibly similar to the actual exams, and the WebAssign homework was completion based (which was very nice considering everyone hates WebAssign).
I actually cannot recommend Professor Lalloo enough. He is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had and one of those people that are just born to teach. I think you'd actually have to try to fail his class cause he makes everything so easy to understand. Seriously, take every chem class you can with him.
If you are taking this class for the grade, take Lalloo. He's very clear about what you need to know for tests and explains things well. He skips a few more difficult concepts that other profesors don't and gives practice tests idenintical to real tests, so you might not retain information learned as long if you take Lalloo, if that makes sense.
honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had, very understanding and puts a lot of effort for his students, the exams aren't hard and very straightforward, really fair
This was and will probably be the best professor that I will have as my time as a student. Homework only 1 to 2 times a week and the homework was participation based (for my class, I cannot attest to other sections or classes he may teach). Practice Exams are very close to the exams which he gives. Definitely recommend to anybody.
Dr Lalloo is a great professor that actually cares about his students unlike many others. He took time to meet with me and help me understand Chemistry as I had to retake this class, I learned so much from him.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. Truly would not have done nearly as well without his incredible teaching and infectious personality. He explains everything in a way that's easy to understand (especially for beginners). 4 exams (1 dropped), final, participation, and homework made up the grade. Study guides are nearly identical to the real thing.
Best professor I have ever had. He was funny and fast paced, but really made sure to hit home on what was important. His practice exams before tests were very similar to the exam itself and really wanted us to learn. I wish he was teaching orgo 2 this semester because I would rearrange EVERYTHING to have his teaching style for the hard classes.
Lalloo is truly a great professor, if I could give him more than 5 stars I would. CH221 is a difficult course, but he made it fun and interesting to learn. Split was 30% final exam, 15% homework, 15% quizzes, and 20% per exam (2 exams). Lalloo truly enjoys teaching and is very available outside of class time making him an all around great teacher!
Dr. Lalloo has to be one of the best instructors I have ever had! His lectures are very easy to follow and understand. The quizzes and exams reflect his lectures. I was actually excited and wanted to learn more with each lecture! Dr. Lalloo offers so much extra help and one on one meetings during the summer. Dr.Lalloo is also a joy to be around!
Dr. Lalloo is one of the best professors at NC State. He truly cares about his students and doesn't try to make the course overly complicated or complex. He prepares you well for future courses and helps you succeed. He trains students well for tests, and his lecture notes and study guides are great resources. I cannot recommend him enough!
Dr. Lalloo is the best Chemistry professor. His lectures are a great pace and he prepares you so well for the tests. He never throws curve balls and all hw is for completion.
Love this man, 100% take his class. He's very down to Earth and all the tests are multiple choice.
There couldn't be anyone better than Lalloo for CH101. His lectures are super engaging and his office hours are super helpful. He will reteach any concept and you will understand after them. The homework is pretty light but a bit more challenging then what you do in class. The practice exams are pretty much the exam so just make sure you do that.
Dr. Lalloo is the epitome of what every professor should be. He is somehow able to explain difficult concepts in ways that are very easy to comprehend. The class (like every other chem class) is test heavy but the tests are straightforward and he gives practice tests that are very similar to the actual tests. Id literally take a bullet for this man
I absolutely loved Dr. Lalloo, I took his class my freshman year and he actually made it so interesting. The attendance was mandatory but I enjoyed going to his classes. He is very relatable and makes sure that everyone is understanding. BEST PROFESSOR!!
Dr. Lalloo is the best chemistry teacher in the department, take him if you can! He is very clear with what you need to know for the test. The practice exams are very similar to the actual ones. There is minimal homework. Lectures are engaging and you'll do fine if you show up to class. He is very helpful and always willing to answer questions.
Bro is probably the best chemistry professor at State. He is so good at making the material understandable its crazy. As long as you attend the lectures or watch them you'll do well in the course. All the tests are similar to the practice tests and he goes through so many examples in class it would be hard to fail if you even put in any effort.
Lalloo is the best teacher I have ever had in any class in any school. He explains everything perfectly and gives fair and balanced tests. There was never a single point during his class where I felt like I was having issues. He takes what many people consider a hard class and makes it an extremely enjoyable experience. Make sure you take this guy!
Prof Lalloo is the best. e's a great lecturer, very young and in touch with students. His lectures are interesting and he truly cares that his students understand the material. He makes practice tests that are very similar to the test and is very clear about what will be on tests. Definitely would take again.
Professor Lalloo is a great teacher! He cares about the topic and also about his students. He's so easy to contact outside of class and also during class. He makes an effort to make sure everyone understands and his exams + homework isn't too hard. Tip: do the practice exams because it looks exactly like what the real exams look like
He is a very good chem professor and makes it easy to understand. The homework counts as a participation grade and there aren't many assignments. The only downside is that your grade is based on 4 tests so if you do bad on one, then you're screwed. It was a good class. I'm just a bad test taker which is why I have a B.
Dr Lalloo is by far the best professor. It is clear that he is extremely passionate about everything he teaches. His sheer excitement is contagious and you are guaranteed to leave his lectures smiling. His class is test heavy. There are 3 exams each 20%, but he provides a practice exam for each exam. The downside to his class is that it ends.
Lalloo is a great prof; he made chemistry fun/easy. Although lecture isn't mandatory, it's helpful to go. He explains everything you need to know, and makes it easy to understand. Tests are almost exactly like the practice exams. Only homework is web assigns. He drops your lowest test grade, but there's no curve on anything. Would def take again.
Lalloo is probably one of the best professors. 3 tests, lowest dropped. He is so caring and his lectures are both clear and engaging. Take Lalloo!!
Prof Lalloo is amazing. He is so caring and does a great job teaching the content while making it interesting. He uses great examples to help with understanding and is very funny as well. He gives practice tests before every exam that have very similar content to the actual tests. Although attendance is not mandatory, go to lectures.
Amazing professor. He makes sure you know exactly what you need to know, not just for tests but for understanding chemistry overall. Lectures were very engaging and it's obvious he wants every student to succeed.
The goat of CH 101, you really can't go wrong with Dr. Lalloo. He does not give extra credit and does not curve, but his lectures are easy to understand as long as you show up for them and he cares about his students. The tests are fairly easy, as they are all multiple-choice. I would undoubtedly take him again if I had the chance.
This man alone made me consider switching my major to chemistry. He makes the subject easy and fun to learn. He moves around a lot during lectures and uses body movements to aid in visualizing certain aspects. Zero complaints.
Best professor I had this semester. Very funny and was very good in his lectures. Homework wasn't bad and he was very helpful if you had questions. 10000/10 would take him for any class.
Best prof for Chemistry! He explains content extremely well and starts lectures with a short review which transitions into the new content of the lecture. Heavily encourages asking questions and working together during lecture. Made homework reflect lecture content and made fantastic practice tests. Take him if you can, especially freshmen!!! :D
Professor Lalloo is absolutely the best. Drops the lowest test grade and gives practice exams for studying. He's incredibly kind, and he is a great lecturer. He's also hilarious, and I genuinely looked forward to going to his class. Can't recommend him enough.
I loved Dr. Lalloo! He was so energetic and passionate about chemistry. He made things feel easy by simplifying each concept. Dr. Lalloo was also excited to help his students by always being open to emails, meetings, and answering questions. However, he leaves out some info other classes teach that could be important in future chem classes.
He is literally the best chem prof please take him. I'm not good at chemistry and got a C but lots of people scored higher, just show up to lectures and you'll be fine.
Very clear and instructional, and clearly incredibly passionate about both the subject and his job. If you study and use the resources made available to you, there should be no issue getting a solid B or A.
So great!! Chemistry is hard but he makes it so much easier. He really cares about making sure everyone gets what he's teaching. Genuinely feels like I've learnt stuff from this class, plus he's so expressive and fun that it makes the lectures super enjoyable.
Best professor at NC State without any competition. He makes chemistry so easy and pretty interesting. If you're lucky enough to have him, you're in for a treat. Homework was graded on completion which was so nice. Super accessible outside of class and extremely knowledgeable. He dropped our lowest test grade and he's just an overall amazing guy.
the best chemistry professor. he truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. he is incredibly passionate about teaching and his lectures are engaging. he drops the lowest exam grade and gives super helpful practice exams!
Dr. Lalloo was an absolute delight to have as a professor. He gives practice exams that correlate exactly with real exams. Attendance for class is not mandatory, but recitation is if you don't want to lose points
Lalloo is by far the best CH101 professor. His lectures are great and he breaks down all the information to a level everyone can understand. His tests are very similar to the study guides. 10/10 guy and wish I had more chem to take with him.
Professor Lalloo is amazing!! He uses slideshows during lectures and goes through them thoroughly, explaining very clearly what will be on tests and what is important to remember. He also breaks down complex topics into easily digestible information. He isn't afraid to run around the lecture hall to help people! The HW is also mainly by completion.
I loved Dr. Lalloo, he explains concepts so well and cares about having all students, no matter their chemistry background, understand his lectures. His exams are very fair and he offers so many practice opportunities including practice exams that are very similar to the actual test. Truly the most passionate professor I have had yet!
Take Dr. Lalloo! He teaches the material very well. Some of the topics from Chem 111, that had been hard to understand were explained very well. He makes the lectures fun and engaging and cares about his students. He wants everyone to do well, understand the material and enjoy his class. He is very passionate about chemistry.
Dr Lalloo was the best! He was very accessible outside of class and I went to his office hours often. He did well explaining confusing topics. Lecture was easy to follow along and he did well making sure the class understood his lecture slides. I would for sure take him again!
Dr. Lalloo was an amazing professor last semester. He was understanding of his students even within the class. He also had fairly easy exams. Strongly Recommend Lalloo.
Professor Lalloo was one of the best instructors I have ever had. Being a young professor, he is very empathetic toward students because he understands what learning in this generating is like.Very patient with students and is willing to cover material several times. He is extremely enthusiastic and willing to cater to the needs of students.
Dr. Lalloo is a very enthusiastic and fun professor who is passionate about organic chemistry. He gives clear explanations, re-explains topics often for better understanding, and is well-prepared for class. Additionally, his homeworks are very reflective of his exams, so definitely do the homework!
Overall great teacher, he's very enthusiastic and passionate about chemistry. However, after studying and going over lectures, I felt that his tests didn't really match what he was teaching. The tests were always 20 times harder than his lectures. He claims the practice tests are similar, but it's just a few, and then the rest are harder questions.
By far one of my favorite professors at State. Dr. Lalloo is very passionate about chemistry, easy to approach, and makes lectures engaging. Practice exams are very similar to midterms, and homework is graded by completion. As long as you study you will be fine! Would absolutely take him for future chem classes!
Dr. Lalloo is the best chemistry professor I have ever had. He is so compassionate and understanding to his students. Exam material was clear and practice exams and homework made the exams much easier to do well on. I would take any class he teaches with no complaints! I 10000% recommend. :)
Best lectures ever! He makes topics super easy and his class is very easy to do well in, but he does NOT offer any extra credit. His tests are not very hard, just take some time, and the homeworks are a breeze. If you are taking more chemistry classes, I do recommend covering some topics in more detail as he doesn't dive too deep into some topics.
THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR CHEM THERE IS. He cares so much for his students and you can tell how passionate he is about teaching. Tests were basically the practice exams so if you do well on them, you will do well on the tests.
I took CH101 and CH221 with Dr. Lalloo, and I can't say enough good things about him. He is so kind and the best lecturer at NCSU in my opinion. The class definitely isn't easy, but he goes above and beyond to help his students. I'm genuinely grieved that he's not teaching orgo 2 next year. 100% take him if you can, you won't regret it.
Dr. Lalloo is a great professor and really knows how to meet students where they are. Attendance isn't technically mandatory but it is better if you show up and if not enough people come he will take attendance. Makes a practice test for exams. Understanding and willing to help, genuinely cares for students, fun but also doesn't waste time
Lalloo is wonderful! Many people make CH101 out to be intimidating and very difficult. Lalloo knows this and strives to make it as easy to understand as possible, while still making sure you are challenged. Practice exams are given along with homework assignments. He cares so much about the wellbeing of his students! Definitely take him if you can!
Dr. Lalloo is an amazing professor. He cares about his students and will explain topics as many times as needed to get everyone up to speed. His lectures were fun and engaging, and students showed up even though they were not required. He has very clear expectations and wants everyone to succeed in his class. Take him for CH 221!
I loved coming to lecture. Summer classes are always hard, orgo is harder, but Dr. Lalloo did everything to make it tolerable. Lectures were clear and easy to understand, test questions were direct with no trick questions. Kind, funny, and passionate about education. Highly recommend.
If you can get Lalloo TAKE HIM. I went into orgo dreading it but Lalloo explained things so well. So easy to understand, and he is always more than happy to answer questions in class, after class, and in office hours. The practice tests are nearly identical to the actual tests, so there's no suprises. Best chem professor ever
Dr. Lalloo is the only chemistry professor I've had at State, but I'm convinced he's the BEST. His lectures are engaging and easy to follow, which is impressive in a giant lecture hall. He cares a lot about his students, makes it easy to get help outside of class, and has very reasonable exams. I'm thrilled to have him again for organic chem!!
Dr. Lalloo is the best professor I've had at NCSU. I never thought I could like chemistry but his teaching made me enjoy it. He's a young teacher who did his undergrad at NCSU so he really understands student struggles and works to make life easier and less stressful for his students. If you have any opportunity to take a class with him, do it!
I'm still taking the course, but so far this has been one of the least stressful classes of my semester. Lalloo's lectures are engaging and very helpful. He doesn't mine repeating a concept to help the class or students understand it better. He also supplies his students with plenty of useful resources to help them understand concepts better.
Highly highly highly recommend
AMAZING super nice and wants to make sure you actually learn and have fun learning Orgo. Class is set up for you to succeed so take it if you can
Dr. Lalloo is the best professor I have had at NCSU, and if you can take a class with him, you absolutely should. He is such an incredible teacher that I genuinely considered taking Orgo 2 just because he's teaching it spring semester, even though I don't need the credit for my degree. I cannot recommend Dr. Lalloo enough.
Professor Lalloo is the best professor I have ever had and will probably ever have! He is funny and engaging and really tries hard to break difficult concepts down and build your understanding. He was a former NC State student so unlike most professors, he is not out of touch. I recommend you move mountains to get into his classes.
I was terrified to take organic chemistry. But Dr. Lalloo took a very difficult subject and made it attainable for me to not only pass but for me to do well in the class. Its a hard class, so study and stay on top of homework. He cares about his students and is a phenomenal teacher. Cant wait to have him again for organic chemistry 2.
Dr. Lalloo is THE BEST!! He makes orgo easy. He is very caring and passionate about teaching, the 50 mins fly by. Very fair, just make sure you're putting your part in and you will be fine. He likes it when students go to office hours and they're really helpful so make sure you go to them, especially if u need help. 3 exams & final, HW every class
Dr. Lalloo is by far the best professor I have had during my time at NCSU. I am not a great test taker and haven't done the best on his exams, but it has all to do with me and not his teaching style. Super easy to understand his way of teaching and he really wants all his students to succeed. I am taking him next semester for orgo 2 and can't wait!
If I could take Dr. Lalloo for every chemistry class, I would! I had him for 101 and now 221 and he truly explains everything so well. I appreciate that he talks TO his students, not AT them and really wants us to succeed. Three exams and homework almost every class, but the homework is for completion. Practice tests almost identical to tests too!
It's a hard subject and a hard class and stay on top of homework. BUT If more professors were like Dr. Lalloo, the world would be a better place. That is all.
Second semester with this guy, love him and the way he teaches. Wish I could've taken Orgo 2 with him next semester, but his class was gone by the time I went to register.
Lalloo is the best professor, that I have ever had! I came into Orgo hearing horror stories and knowing family members who had to retake it because they failed. Don't let what you've heard become limiting beliefs. I got a B because of it. His lectures are amazing and he is young so he understands how to reach students. 10/10 recommend Lalloo
I dreaded taking Organic Chemistry before this semester; I love the subject now. Dr. Lalloo is INCREDIBLE because of how passionate, respectful, and charismatic he is in-class. By no means is he an easy professor, so expect working a lot in the class to get a good grade. Homeworks and tests are identical. Can't wait to take him for Orgo II.
Dr. Lalloo is awesome. Tests are very fair and representative of what is covered in class. Homework takes very little time and is full credit just for turning it in. Organic chem is a notoriously difficult class and Dr. Lalloo made it interesting and not nearly as challenging as it is made out to be. Definitely take him if you can.
Lalloo is one of the best professors in the chem department, so if you get into his class you are very lucky. Lectures are engaging and I learned a lot. Homework is based on completion, practice tests are similar to exams, and he is very helpful outside of class. If you have the chance to take him, do it.
as you see, lalloo is hands down the best teacher for this course. when my grades were dropping fast, he was more than willing to help me outside of lecture to get my grades up. he gave me my love for chemistry back and even though the class wasn't easy, he's super easy to reach out to for help. he's also freaking hilarious, so bonus points there.
Lalloo explains organic chemistry incredibly well and this very much is a doable class. Class is exam heavy but he gives plenty of resources to prepare and really wants you to succeed.
Everything on the tests is straight from his lectures and homework, so there are no curveballs. I will say, that I felt that during the class, he oversimplified important concepts and skipped things that most other professors covered to make the class easier. I don't know for sure, but I'm suspicious, and it's something to keep in mind for Pre-Med.
love professor Lalloo, def the best orgo prof. So caring and willing to go above and beyond to help his students. Had to get used to his teaching style at first because he oversimplifies a lot and exams arent as easy as he makes it feel during class but once I started redoing homeworks and doing practice exams over and over my exam grade shot up.
Professor Lalloo's CHEM101 class is a gem. His lectures are engaging and he genuinely cares about students' learning. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep - I'd recommend it alongside the practice tests he provides.
Best professor I've had at NCSU. I took AP Chem in high school and did terrible, but Dr. Lalloo made everything so easily understandable. My degree doesn't require a higher level chem but I'm considering taking another just for fun. Lectures are so engaging and interesting, don't take any other professor if he is an option!
I am a firm believer that some people are put on this earth to do certain things, and Dr. Lalloo was born to be an educator. His lectures are so fun and so engaging- he breaks down difficult topics and makes chemistry very doable actually interesting. I hope to have him for Orgo as well. By far my favorite professor at state.
Dr. Lalloo is one of the best professors I have had at NC State. He is an amazing lecturer and does an excellent job breaking down difficult concepts so they are more digestible. He is clearly passionate about helping every student succeed. I am not joking when I say he made organic chemistry one of my favorite subjects to learn.
He's the best professor I have ever had, and he clearly loves his job. TAKE HIM.
Dr. Lalloo is one of the best professors at NCSU. Homework is participation graded, attendance is optional, exams are similar to homeworks/practice exams and lowest exam grade is dropped. Dr. Lalloo truly wants his students to understand the material. He makes a difficult class like Organic Chemistry very managable. Take his class!
Professor Lalloo is the best chemistry professor at NC State. He empathizes with students about the difficulty of the material and tries to make it easy. He often tells funny jokes or stories to make the class fun. Dr. Lalloo is so good that he makes many students change their majors to chemistry because he shows how cool chemistry really is.
First. CHEM-101 is not easy. (Lalloo helps make it easier and enjoyable though) It's going to take a good amount of studying and discipline. However, Lalloo is honestly the best teacher for this course. His reassurance, inspiration, and awesome personality made the class enjoyable and easier. Go to his office hours as well.
Took for orgo 2 but not an option on here. Kind and lectures are great. 3 exams and lowest is dropped. Homeworks can be hard and are often on material not covered in class, but is graded for completion. Reachable for help. Exams are not bad if you study all the reactants and mechanisms. Posts homework late and does not give extensions though.
Dr. Lalloo is hands down the best teacher ever. An A in Orgo isn't unattainable—you just need to practice, not just study, practice. I got a B, but an A was within reach. Go to office hours, try on HW, and in class. Mistakes are part of learning. I want to emphasize that FAILURE = growth and learning, don't let fear of failure hold you back.
One of the best professors I've had so far at NCSU. If you struggle on any of the tests, make sure you go to office hours. He gives extra examples and helps individually, which is nice in a 200+ person class. Very important that you learn conceptually rather than just memorization, problems are written so you can understand chemistry as a whole.
He is an amazing teacher. Easy to understand what is happening if you are going to class. Don't skip his lectures they are entertaining. He explains everything easily. Always ready to help out and lend a hand
Legitimately one of the best professors I've ever had across all academic settings. He manages to make his lectures really interesting and engaging - you actually learn from his lectures, not just memorize from them like many other classes. He made chemistry my favorite subject, and I'm honestly excited for organic chemistry because of him.
Because of Professor Lalloo, chemistry went from being the most intimidating subject to my most favorite subject. He is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. Lectures are super interesting, and his passion is really there - He is very "animated" when he teaches. Exams are very fair, only testing on what is covered in lecture. GOAT.
will take lalloo again and again. second course with him and he really values his students and his work. lectures are made to truly understand the material, not confusing at all. Orgo 2 is difficult overall, but he makes it understandable to learn. 4 tests including the final, hw based on completion.
Orgo II is a very difficult class because of the sheer amount of content you have to know, but Dr. Lalloo does a great job of explaining concepts and keeping lectures engaging. Take CH223 with Lalloo if you can!
Orgo 2 is no joke- lots of mechanisms which is why it is a 4 on difficulty, HOWEVER, Dr. Lalloo is fair with testing and if you do the homework, attend some office hours, and put quality time into the class- you will succeed. He is an amazing professor and provides everything you need to do well. He added office hours for us & you get a drop exam
Dr. Lalloo is a blessing to NC State, and I am grateful to have learned from him. His lectures are incredible and insightful; however, homework and exams require a solid studying commitment outside of the class; taking Lalloo does not guarantee a high grade. The homeworks and exams are very similar; if I could retake Orgo with him, I would 110%.
Really REALLY good at teaching chemistry, and understanding of circumstances, for example I missed the final due to an accident and he quickly setup a makeup no questions asked. Probably the best professor you could get in chemistry as a whole.
Lalloo was the BEST professor I have ever had in college! He genuinely cares AND he simplifies complex topics in a concise way. As long as you take notes during lecture and study hard (since it is a hard class regardless), you will pass his class with an A. He made me fall in love with chemistry again and I couldn't speak more highly of him.
Dr. Lalloo managed to make an hour and a half, 200 person lecture entertaining and engaging every single time. If you're struggling with anything at all, his office hours are basically a one-on-one where he will make sure you understand it. Super funny and caring about all his students, and he made chemistry actually seem interesting!
I took him for Orgo 1+2, he's truly an amazing prof. I had 2+ years between the courses & his Orgo 2 I don't rec. if you have large gap (some profs in the dept. will review a tiny bit more). If you take the class right after Orgo 1 he's truly the best professor. Office hours are a MUST imo; go to class, engage with the material, you'll do well.
Literally the GOAT of the NCSU chem department. Makes understanding orgo very easy and truly cares about students.
All I ask, above all, is that everyone who takes organic chemistry at NC state takes Dr. Lalloo. I miss him every day in my current biochemistry class. Just show up to lectures, and you will fall in love with chemistry.
If you have any chance at taking Lalloo for any chem class, take it. He is genuinely one of the best teachers i've ever had. He makes class fun, hard concepts understandable, and is always there to answer questions. He is so supportive of his students and truly just wants to make learning chemistry easier. Cannot say enough good things.
Great professor for Gen Chem. Take him. Very good at lecturing. Makes hard concepts understandable.
Lalloo is a great professor. You can tell that he really cares about his students and is dedicated to helping them learn. His exams are very similar to the practice exams but more difficult. Chemistry is difficult no matter the professor you have, so I think he took a very great approach to helping us through this course.
He's great!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Makes lectures super engaging and clearly explains all content. Tests are very true to what is taught in class, and he stresses his availability for walk-in help during office hours. Take ch101 with Lalloo.
Exams are nothing like the practice tests he gives you even though he will tell you they are. He is a major gas lighter if you try to tell him your concern with them not being similar, however his lectures are always very entertaining.
Awesome. Simple as that he breaks down the lectures in a way everyone can understand he says attendance is mandatory but its fine. Homework is easy, super approachable and dynamic during lectures. Would not take it with anyone else if I had to take the course again.
An amazing professor. His lectures are so easy to understand, the practice tests are very helpful and very much like the tests. He also is very open to go to for help if you need it.
Loved him! Chemistry is hard but he makes it bearable. All of his lectures and assignments make sense and the grades are very fair. If you put in the effort, you can do well in it. Has plenty of office hours and review sessions outside of class. Wasn't the easiest to reach through email but I don't necessarily think my emails needed a response
Dr. Lalloo is really funny and his lectures are amazing. He is really good at explaining the content. I went into his class knowing absolutely NOTHING about chemistry, but he was super understanding and wants to make sure he meets everybody at any level.
If you are able to choose what professor to take for chemistry, take Lalloo. He makes topics super easy to understand and all of his exams are multiple choice. Plenty of study materials such as practice exams and extra problems. Very enthusiastic about chemistry!
Dr. Lalloo is one of the greatest instructors I have ever had. He is so passionate about the content, and he is amazing at explaining even the more difficult topics. Even in a class of 200+ people, he makes it feel very personal, as he goes out of his way to answer your questions during class and has great office hours. 10/10 professor
Amazing professor, made me understand chemistry better than any other teacher could and made me actually enjoy going to class
The best CH 101 professor at NCSU. As long as you go through the lecture slides (either during lectures or in the comfort of your dorm), practice all of the practice exams, practice all of the recitations, and supplemental instruction questions, you are guaranteed an A+. Dr. Lalloo's lectures are engaging. He is really down to earth.
Awesome professor for CH 101, makes chemistry easy to understand.
Genuinely an awesome guy. I struggle with chemistry and had a rough semester and he helped me push thorough it all. Lectures are always engaging and easy to follow. Just show up to class and do the practice exams and you will at least pass this class. Best professor.
Loved this professor, literally my favorite teacher all semester. The class is difficult but he makes topics much easier to understand! If you can get into his class take this professor!
Very detailed and informative lectures, and although he is a tough grader, he sets out expectations well ahead of time to allow you to be able to prepare effectively. Definetly the best chem professor at state
Cool teacher, once jumped off a table. Dresses like Indiana Jones but better. His tests have edge cases/fun applicationsof the concepts, so try to rely on fundamental understanding rather than memorizing stuff.
One of the best professors I have ever had. I am not the best at chemistry, but he made the material very comprehensible and took time to answer any questions. Tests are all multiple choice and are similar to practice tests.
Despite not being the best chemistry student. Professor Lalloo explained things in a way that made it so simple. I genuinely wish I had put more effort into this class because he was just so great at making anything difficult in this course feel simple.
Lalloo focuses on helping students understand concepts. Walk-in help is available for aid (helpful!). Practice tests are very similar to actual tests. Homework is not too hard, and lectures are somewhat slow-paced but very thorough.
