He seems like a super nice guy, but awful at teaching. Did not understand what was going on during the lectures. People have even shouted out in class that what he was saying did not make any sense. Eventually, the class became half empty because students decided to either not show up or attend the other section lecture. Get ready to teach yourself
he's hard to understand, hops between ideas before finishing a thought - hard to follow and although this class is suggested for students that didn't take physics in high school he constantly glosses over information and points because "you guys already know this from high school." Super frustrating.
Nice as a person. bad professor. Goes over lecture slides quickly with next to no explanation. Rarely does examples and when they are done many parts are skipped or not explained. Rely on google for this guy. His quizzes are marked easy but that is mainly up to the TAs and not necessarily him.
Holy balls I hate this man. Nothing he said in person lecture never made sense. Cami was better and thats not even by a lot. Waiting on the day the physics department actually gets good professors. Exam was also low-key rank. Zarir would be better if he actually spoke English
Zarir is the greatest of all time period. There is no one better than him. If he has one fan I am him. If he has no fans I am dead. The level of humour that he exudes is other worldly. Please take his class you will never regret it.
cannot understnad, takes 3/4 of lecture trying to figure out how to use an ipad
He is a very kind person but get ready to teach yourself...
oh zarir is a fellow with good intentions. however, he often strays from the topic and does not develop his examples for a full understanding. his drawings are often messy and all over the place which can be very confusing to people who have no idea whats going on. he also does not know how to keep the class focused and attentive
if you havent taken high school physics don't take this class, he's not good at teaching examples are messy and not understandable. he provides little to no resources and hw is unclear and lost with no solutions
The worst prof I have ever had. Messy ppt and lecture, however, you can self-educate to get a good grade if you took high school physics.
Lectures are garbage, he just does practice questions that don't make any sense. I had to teach myself by reading the textbook and watching videos online. Class is especially hard if you've never taken high school physics. That being said, he is a very nice guy and is helpful when you ask him questions, and definitely wants his students to succeed.
Absolutely no structure to lectures, goes WAY too fast (even for university), expects you to read his mind, skips over problems, doesn't explain any topics and expects you to just know every different version of his (weird) formulas. Gives formula sheets that have random things on them and the exams contain random or weirdly worded questions.
Lectures are impossible to follow, often ended up more confused. Only useful if you have already done ALL the readings/examples and your notes are organized and just treat as a review. Usually treated it as naptime, but that did mean I had to miss out on some quality humour featuring a grown man struggling to use an iPad in front of 700 students.
Dr. Zarir made Linear Algebra much more complicated than it needed to be. I often found myself passing out in his classes due to having no clue as to what he was explaining.
his class was honestly a joke; lectures were disorganized, without structure, and nothing was taught (you'll end up teaching yourself regardless if you attend lectures or not). despite being an intro level course, you'll need to relying heavily on high school knowledge. Zarir seems likes a really nice, but he simply can't teach effectively
Zarir was not that bad. He is very slow with technology but his lectures are hilarious. He would often type in his ipad passcode, forgetting that he was projecting onto the screen. He often solved actual examples and had lots of fun demonstrations.
Nice guy but your grade basically came down to luck. If you didn't take high school physics, you're in for a treat. Did all the hw 3 times and still couldn't do exam questions as they were so different and basically no way to prepare for them. GL....
Really bad at lecturing, takes 40 minutes to set up his iPad, no one goes to class after the first day. Seems nice, I feel bad for him, but he needs to do better.
spends more time figuring out how to use his ipad than actually teaching.
physics is bird but zarir is just not a good prof lol
I feel for the guy, I do. I can tell that he's super friendly and caring, but his lectures are so beyond simple to follow. There was virtually no discussion of potential misunderstandings, and were based completely on understanding the textbook material by heart. This is due the fact that he doesn't actually teach the material, the textbook does.
He seems very caring but his lectures were not great and it was kind of useless showing up. Your best resource is the textbook so do all of the readings and homework questions as soon as they are assigned and you'll be fine. I watched videos on YouTube to supplement going to the "lectures".
This guy is hard to understand and his teaching is extremely hard to follow, TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK
Felt like he was making things up on the spot
MAGNITUTDE, VELOCITY, ACCELERATION
Awful, teach yourself this course. You will not learn anything from this guy. Zarir the only reason physics grade average so low in 1201.
He goes way too fast for a class that is introductory. :(((
He is really tough to understand during lectures and spends more than half of a class doing a question, which he then gets wrong. You're better off skipping and reading the textbook at home. He is also very disorganized.
terrible.
so bad. starts so many practice problems and doesn't ever solve them. illegible writing. horrible accent. horrible posture man is built like a hunchback
He's practically just there. This entire course requires you to fully teach yourself. Any resource is better than this prof. By the time October hit, only about 15% of the class was showing up to lecture which should tell you all you need to know. Do not choose a course he is instructing and if it's mandatory, good luck.
Najeh is simply the best 1201A prof ever. His lectures are simply, concise and explain every single answer in the finest detail known to man. His explanations are detailed and are simply the finest there ever was. Thank you, Najeh.
Lectures were confusing and unhelpful
When I think of Najeh Zarir, I think of innovator. He is an amazing professor in the time that I have had with him who genuinely cares for his students, helping them understand fundamentals easily. He takes his time between lectures so that everyone understands the materials and is the best teacher ever. Goes through examples in class and is funny.
Tough class but amazing teacher. Despite what everyone says he is very caring and an awesome person
Actually, very nice guy. Midterm actually very easy. Lectures no good, study yourself.
I had a nice time with Najeh Zarir. His lectures were concise and explained everything in fine detail. The way he demonstrated the motion of two objects was amazing and his demonstration of potential energy was very interesting. Thank you for the amazing lectures!
Najeh Zarir, an academic luminary, stands as the quintessential professor for first-year calculus. With an unparalleled passion for the subject and a gift for simplifying complex concepts, Zarir's teaching transcends the ordinary. Students flock to his lectures, drawn by his knack for demystifying calculus and fostering a deep understanding.
Bro this guy is the worst prof ever like he wouldn't explain anything and he would just ramble on about random stuff. Every single tie we did an clicker he just wouldn't explain why the answer would be one thing or another.
Zarir although be extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic is too smart too teach. He often skips over important slides because it is "very simple" and frequently has errors in his premade notes. His quizzes are fairly easy but I'm pretty sure they are made by the other professor.
nobody knows what hes saying. he doesn't explain himself. he doesn't care. he just makes jokes at the expense of his students' futures. at least hes funny ig, would be great if it didnt cost me my class time
There are not enough words in the English language to describe the sheer teaching ability that Professor Zarir is equipped with. My best attempt to depict his talent: A combination of the athletic ability of 2013 Lebron James, the IQ of Tom Brady, the creativity of Kanye West, the swagger of Micheal Jackson, and the comedy of Kevin Hart.
Zarir, a true art to his craft. Just like Virat's cover drive, his lectures are crisp to perfection. Everything in such easy to understand English enough to rival that of World Cup legend Lionel Messi. Like Ronaldo, he never misses his shot when it comes to teaching and is a once in a lifetime genius to grace not just Western, but the world as well
Professor Zarir's lectures are captivating, inspiring works of art, meticulously planned out all the while being executed to perfection. When a student asks a question, Zarir is always quick on the uptake, providing boundless new insight into the wonderful world of physics. Zarir is without a doubt, one of the most beloved and respected physicists.
This physicist is one of a kind. I walked into the lecture all depressed and lonely and I walked out of it being a physics God with multiple friends. He is the GOATTT!! Nobody rivals Dr. Zarir when it comes to physics
Zarir was an amazing prof. He articulated topics very well and delivered concepts with extreme detail. Each lecture was delightful, I highly encourage attendance. Regardless of one's background in physics, he will provide all necessary components and details required to succeed in the class.
Najeh Zarir specifically helped me understand the very difficult concepts in class and directly contributed to my success in physics. I now study mechatronics and am extremely successful only because Najeh Zarir. When I went to his office hours, he also emotionally helped me with personal struggles which made me struggle in class.
He's the goat. Everything I am is an ode to the goat himself, Dr. Zarir. He has inspired me to take my learning beyond what's possible. He is the reason I discovered gravity and calculus and more. Truly the professor of all time. - Sir Isaac Newton
Prayed Jummu'ah with him, a very nice person and kind soul, may Allah grant you victory and righteousness!

Holy Bazooka!!! I was down on my knees in shambles until i saw a light beaming through from above and it was the light shined by zarir. He makes concepts so easy to understand and I can not stress enough on how inspirational and caring he is. Zarir is incredibly articulate and I wish I could have every class with him. truly a gift to humanity
Dr. Najeh Zarir is one of the best profs at Western University. He is highly educated and knowledgable in the realm of calculus. He is able to explain concepts easy, very approchable.
Rate: Najeh Zarir Physics Western University
Allah Hu Akbar, Allah Hu Akbar, La Ilah Ha Ilillulah, Allah Hu Akbar, Allah Hu Akbar, Walillah Hil Hamd. May Allah bless Zarir, a truly revolutional and inspirational physics teacher. I wish he could lead prayer as well. Such a beautiful voice enough to summon not just birds, but all animals. Alhamdulillah for Zarir.
A force to be reckoned with that not even Newton could prove
The professor of all time
Great teacher. Marked a bit strict and wasn't the most approachable (got a bit too into school spirit?) but he could TEACH. He prepared me for uni physics very well - taught almost all the topics and I landed a great mark on the first midterm due to the one-on-ones Mr. Smolders offered and the multiple hands-on demos we did. Would recommend.
Out of all the professors I have had in the first semester so far, Zarir is certainly one of them. Hands down he is the physics professor I have ever had. He is without a doubt a one-of-a-kind prof that you'd want to teach you physics, especially if you had not taken physics in high school like me.
Amazing professor, always pays attention to detail Need I say moreSS?
Curve came clutch
Across my many years of being a student, Zarir stands out as far and away the greatest teacher I have ever had. Thanks to his guiding hand, even the most daunting courses such as Calculus become manageable. His lectures are elevated above all others, thanks to his borderline magical talent for teaching, natural sense of humor, and top-tier charisma
An absolutely fascinating and inspiring professor. I have never met such a beautiful and caring professor in my life. He has truly changed my life for the better, encouraging me to be a better person. The very attempt to comprehend his thoughtful individuality brings great tidings, warming my heart. Truly, thou be blessed upon the presence of zarir
WE LOVE ZARIR! BEST PROF OF ALL TIME! IF YOU'RE NOT IN HIS SECTION, SWITCH TO IT! HE IS THE B E S T!!!!!
Absolute insane professor, loved the entire year, loved his energy, and got me a easy A+ in the course. Will definately take again
He helped me learn what the derivative of a velocity time graph is, and what the derivative of a acceleration time graph is, and what the derivative of a velocity time graph is, and what the derivative of an acceleration time graph is. I understand za derevetiv.
Going to lectures is a waste. Just watch 3 blue 1 brown and organic chemistry tutor.
He is not a mean person but he is hard to understand and treats the course like everyone understands physics, struggled a lot in the course along with many others.
When thinking of physics, some of the greatest minds come up; Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, and Steven Hawking. But for the students of Western University, Dr. Zarir is a marvel in the world of physics education. His lectures are like stand-up comedy for the scientifically inclined.
Zarir teaches as if you already know the content. His organization is horrible so his demonstration calculations will only make you more confused. On the bright side, his midterm was relatively simple, so putting in the work to self study from the textbook will yield good results. Avoid Zarir if you don't have high school physics experience.
zarir wins the prize for being the only class I've ever slept through. spent more time playing on his iPad than teaching physics.
I read all the comments about how watching YouTube was way more helpful than attending his class before taking this class, and until now, I would rather watch videos than go to his class. However, the professor was nice, and I can see that he is trying. But he often posts iClicker questions in class and prefers to skip explaining them to students.
Awful prof. Notes copied from textbook, seemed to joke about the content while we all sat there confused. Found it more helpful to learn from text/youtube rather than lectures. Prof assumed you had high school knowledge (I didn't) and then added to this without setting a foundation. Very tough to follow, lectures seemed messy and out of order
This professor is my number 1 op. He is so bad at teaching that he screwed me over for midterms. I did better on the final, but it still wasnt enough. He single handedly demoted me to gen sci. I hope he takes this personally.
Horrible lectures, extremely difficult to understand and was constantly moving too fast with unclear instruction. Exams and quizzes/tests were not too difficult, but did not do a good enough job teaching.
Awesome guy best prof ever
The most lost professor I've ever seen. He would flip between the slides back and forth delivering unrelated ideas at the same time. Zero organization. Even when he wants to solve a practice question, he would be so messy and most of the times not complete the question. He doesn't even give answers to the iclicker questions.
To persevere is the human condition. To learn is to live. Professor Zarir can endow you invaluable and precious knowledge that transcends the mere subject of physics. He can show you that to see the light is to know what it means to live in the dark. Take his class. Experience the night. Then overcome setbacks and give yourself a dawn.
Prof Zarir, the picasso of perplexity. His lectures were like riddles wrapped in a puzzle, turning physics into a mysterious art form. I admired how he could transform the straightforward into the utterly confusing, adding a touch of mystery to the classroom. Hats off to Prof Zarir for making physics an unforgettable, miserable experience.
Zarir was a nice guy, you could tell he cared about his students doing well. Sometimes his lectures were difficult to follow because he discussed calculus we did not need to know. But he gives a lot of opportunities to ask questions; in class and during his office hours. Attend class/ ask questions and his class is manageable!
Professor Zarir is amazing. He is, in fact, so amazing that my first review of him got taken down by Rate My Prof because apparently I said too many good things. He is an icon and a king. He is as good at physics as Isaac Newton himself. He will make the next big discovery, and you will be the first to know. You are in good hands in his class.
Professor Zarir was the hunkiest king of a man I have ever seen. I didn't understand a single physics concept and failed the course because I was so enamored with this demi-god of a man. Please take his courses to satisfy all your desires.
Zarir's lectures somehow make me understand calculus less after the lecture. I was more confident in my abilities post grade 12 calculus than I am now halfway through the course. He also often has errors in his prewritten notes that he projects instead of completing problems in class.
Absolute hunk of a man. Attended his lectures for personal reasons ;)
He seems like a sweetheart. But as a prof, I have no words. Dear first years; beware.
prepare yourself for a heavy course (hope you took high school physics). NOT INTRO PHYSICS even though it says it will be. you will end up using only the textbook as lectures are a waste of time. good luck. oh and prof won't explain anything, have fun!
Professor had no idea what he was teaching, he was always more lost than the students and never ever explained properly. At the end I stopped going class and I learned more by myself than from him. Also disrespectful in person
Unorganized, so much information being thrown in your face at once. I took high school physics and still struggled, it felt like I was learning it for the first time. You are better off teaching yourself or getting a tutor, don't waste time going to lecture unless you want a good laugh.
Very bad
Can't speak to the class
Extremely disorganized, confused, and had a poor grasp of the English language, which is a necessity when teaching a potentially completely new subject to hundreds of students. His lectures were not worth going to and I had to learn everything solely off the textbook and Youtube. If you haven't taken Grade 12 Physics then this class will be hell.
Very caring prof that loves all of his students. Would definitely recommend going to every lecture. Helped me get the grade I deserved.
A very nice change of pace from all of the terrible profs in this school. Would highly recommend going to every lecture.
His ability to comminicate is very poor and extremly difficult to understand. He skips steps and never writes on the board. He does an swful job at reading off the slides. His class starts off with 700 students and by week 2 is 50 becuase none of the students can understand his poor english.
The lectures were terrible and I couldn't understand anything. I relied entirely on online resources bec the professor didn't use the slides properly. We studied from past exams and question banks, but the midterm had no overlap. It was all based on slides we didn't understand. I'd never take this course again and out of Med Sci because of that!!
Go to Tudose's calculus class.
Explains physics concepts clearly and concisely. Great prof.
This guy, such a terrible teacher people stop attending his lectures. his solution to this was to make attendance mandatory. guy cant speak an idea clearly, solutions to problems are skipping over important parts. although he is a cutie pie ;).
Wonderful and amazing professor. Really listens to students.
Terrible at explaining concepts, especially with his poor English. Lectures are a mess and difficult to follow if you are learning the concepts for the first time. Also, he made the makeup exams much more difficult than the regular ones and took over a month to grade them.
Zarir took over a month to grade our midterms (written October 27th and grades given back November 28th), and has not graded our assignments going into finals. Extremely unfair as you have no idea what your grade is going into finals. Super inconsiderate and unprepared prof
Took forever to grade our midterm exam and has barely marked anything yet going into the final exam. I would recommend watching YouTube videos to teach you the content. The slides are hard to follow and aren't explained well. Make sure to do the homework and assignments the exam was fairly similar.
Zarir cannot teach the course content in a digestible manner, the class was esentially empty after the first week but that said his exams are very fair and if your able to learn the content on your own you should be able to do very well in the course just because of how simple Zarir keeps the exams, compared to other profs
he deceived us all just like Sōsuke Aizen. Apart from that, He is a awesome(ish) prof. Very caring and quite funny sometimes
No matter how prepared you may feel for a Zarir exam, you aren't. His lectures are laughably unorganized and are no help in learning. His grading is slow as molasses too- it took him and his TAs almost til December to hand back our midterm marks. Lord save you if you have him as your professor. Read the textbook, don't even bother with lectures.
terrible professor
Absolutely terrible prof. You are doomed if you receive him.
Will not teach well, might as well not show up to class if you can help it
Zarir is just not a good prof. His notes are unorganized and there are some topics you could even learn faster by yourself. Just use the textbook and get ready to watch youtube videos. He also takes so long to grade tests, so be ready to wait for months before you get anything back.
About 90% of my class and I didnt show up to a single lecture past the first week. Zarir exclusively reads off of textbooks slideshows he didnt make and scribbles some shitty annotations onto, he barely speaks english, and takes months to grade anything. Going into the final days before the drop deadline we only knew 7.5% of our total course grade.
The start of the semester started out really rocky but Zarir continued to get better and better at teaching the content past limits. He's not the best teacher but it very clearly shows that he cares about his students and is willing to help them outside of lecture time. If you pre-read the lecture content his explanations make a lot more sense.
With all due respect, Zarir's talents do not lie in teaching.
First few lectures with complex numbers and limits were rough. After 2 weeks, about 25% of people were still showing up to his lectures. However, he got better as the term progressed. Notes are helpful, albeit hard to read. Would prefer if he wrote the notes by hand instead on his tablet. Also gave misleading information on contents of the exams
Fair professor cares about his students! Overall is a difficult course from the overall material but overall very nice and great.
Smart guy to be fair. Terrible at explaining and lectures. You're gonna be teaching yourself everything, hard to understand. He's a nice guy too but teaching does not seem to be the best fit.
Hes not a goof prof, I took him for 1229, an easy course. But he does his best to make it harder than to needs to be. The worse part is we have waited nearly a month just to Get our midterm back. All other sections had there grades back last week or prior.
Very nice guy.... Horrible prof. Lecture notes are illegible, the examples presented in class have lots of mistakes in them, and the lectures are useless. To do well in this course you have to teach it to yourself viva youtube and TA practice problems. Go to the tutorials and do the assignments by yourself and you will do well.
He's not the best teacher but he really wants his students to do well. If you show up to class consistently and he can recognize you he will do his best to help you out grade wise. Definitely do recommended problems.
Such a nice person and willing to help, he might be a theory-based style prof but if you reach out to him for any clarification, he doesn't hesitate and ensures you understand it.
Theory based prof so the way he explains things is very confusing. If you don't constantly ask him to explain or dumb things down, then he's basically speaking gibberish. ALWAYS willing to answer stupid questions, but lectures weren't useful and just confused me more. Teach yourself using the textbook and go through his worked examples.
DUDE. This guy should not be teaching. You actually cant understand anything hes saying. His notes are HORRID. His midterm wasnt crazy hard if u just study. honestly teach ur self the class on youtube and do learning catalytics.
I genuinely dropped down to my knees when I realized I had him again for Calc 2. His classes are unintentionally hilarious, it's like being taught by Sleepy Joe himself with a funny accent and at this point he honestly should be let go. Someone please free this grandpa already.
Abysmal doesn't cut it. He is incredibly hard to understand, speaking incredibly quietly and unconfidently to a class of people who need to learn from him to pass. Genuinely, and I can't express this enough, listening to him is an infohazard and makes you understand less calculus. Just read the textbook. He cannot teach and shouldn't be a prof.
Wallah his class is a circus show, has a bad accent, his notes are messier and more unorganized than a neck beard reddit mod's room, and couldn't figure out solstice in the first few weeks so everyone was playing clash royale on the projector. Everybody just goes to tritchenko's class because he couldnt teach to save 6-7 abgs tied to train tracks.
Horrible teacher! Didn't know how to teach at all, gave horrible lectures, nothing on the review was accurate to the exam. Would never take his class again i recommend dropping the course if you get him as a prof or switch classes.
Con: -Super strong accent. -Lecture notes are confusing. -Lectures were hard to absorb. Pro: the TA for the course were aigh...
