Professor abassi is a great, helpful teacher she'll go out of her way to make you understand things. very sweet and actually cares if you understand it or not the only thing is she has a very strong accent & it can be hard to understand what she's saying
No Comments
a little hard to understand at first cuz of her accent, but after 2 minutes, yu dont notice it, shes a great teacher, highly reccomended!!!
She has an accent so it's hard 2 understand her, but the info she teaches is accurate and she prepares u well for the tests. If you've have some bkground in Chemistry, the class should be easy for u, but if u never studied it b4, it'll probably be hard.
ALL I CAN SAY IS GREAT TEACHER. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND CHEMISTRY WHEN YOU GET OUT YOU WILL FEEL LIKE YOU KNEW IT ALL ALONG. THATS HOW GREAT SHE IS. TAKE HER CLASS SHE IS THE BEST!!!
A great professor to have. She is very helpful and always there to help you. If you study and do homework you will do good in her class.
A great professor to have. She got a little accent, but is very helpful and is always there to help you. If you study and do homework you will do good in her class.
Wait wait wait!A LITTLE ACCENT? half the time she made up words and the other half she mispronounced them.Shes really a nice lady, and im sure shes really smart in chemistry, BUT she is not suited to teach.her accent and fast paced lessons were horrib
Great prof! Everyone likes to complain about her accent. Granted, she has a heavy accent but still gives a heck of a lecture if you give her a chance! She gives excellent notes and prepares you for the exams. She'll be happy to work with you after class.
Once u get used to the accent (which is heavy) she explains things really well, after 2 days in class i know more than i understood from kobrak last semester for 2and a half months before i withdrew because he didn't make sense
She is great as a professor, eventhough she has her accent she know how to teach the material. She is also really nice with the students, and she gives very good advices. Specially if in problems with school work. I recommend her to all.
the accent is very heavy but she explains things better than any other chem teacher i had in college. she curved the marks at the end- I got a c with a c- average- even though she didn't say she would and dropped the lowest test in the summer
Very easy professor; she has an accent however because her language is limited she explains only the important stuff and the things that are going to be tested... Highly recommended; definitely the easiest chem teacher that you can take in BK College.
very easu prof.
She is the nicest prof. I ever had. She explains things over and over again and is there to help you; she is not there to make it hard like some other core professors.- highly recommended. She has an accent but you will get used to it.
She is a very nice lady. She emphasizes on the important things that you really need to know, but its kind of hard to understand her because of her accent.
One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. The tests are based on her notes and she simplifies everything. She does not teach whatever is not needed. I finished the midterm in 20 minutes and got a 96.
what a nice person.Even when the class is over she's still willing to help you in any other class.GREAT person and easy class. You don't hear her accent after a class or two.Definitely take her class. She's the best chem prof. the college has.
she is the best professor I've seen in brooklyn college. very very nice. you had better choose her.
She always tries to help any student who feels that they should need help. She is a great teacher.
wow! can't get a better professor. She helps you with anything.I took her in the spring and she helped me in a totally diff. class the next fall. Really friendly, always helpful and not confusing.Only teaches the stuff you have to know. DEFINITELY take her.You won't regret it.
i luv ms. abbasi.....the best prof ever....she is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice and extremely helpful.....she answers all ur questions and doesnt make u inferior.......take her class....shes amazing..........Pali4life
Abbasi is the lab teacher to get for any of the chem courses. She is very helpful and makes every effort to help you understand.
Easy A+. Makes chemistry very easy; her tests are very easy; they're exactly what she teaches in class. Just study and you'll ace everything.
Abbasi is not a good teacher, but her tests are easy. Just hope you don't get a departmental test...then you're screwed. She allows blatant cheating durng exams.
She is a sweet professor, really cares about the students. She teaches to make Chemistry simple, her notes were very helpful. The department midterm and final weren't too bad, but after studying hard I still got a C+ for the class. If it wasn't for Abbasi's teaching I would have failed.
She is very easy. Explains everything you need to know for midterm. Good teacher.
She is a very helpful and really knows the material
She is an accommodating and benevolent individual. Her lectures are very simple and crystal clear. She thoroughly helps her students outside of the class. She is not boring, unlike the other Chemistry Profs. And I prefer her because I actually learned Chemistry in that course. All the very best to you, prof. Abbasi!

This professor is really stupid. Never take her for summer classes, cuz she teaches very hastily. Her tests are long and sometimes the answers are incorrect because she types the test at 3:00 am. Her accent is very bad. I think that she speaks gibberish. Now, she has a routine of coming 15-30 min late to class and going hastiily through problems!!!
Prof Abassi is a good teacher but only if you want to learn the material.i went into the class needing the A so i studied hard and did well.she is not clear enough in lectures but the easiness of her tests makes up for it.
I thought she was very easy. As long as u pay att. to the notes and read the chapters u should do ok.She's really helpful in making u try and understand the material if u don't get it the 1st time around.
THE BAD-Shes difficult to understand because of her accent. Came 30 minutes late to every class- then complains how pressed for time she is- skipped over numerous small parts needed for chem 2.CONSTANTLY misunderstood simple questions and just kept repeating the same answer.THE GOOD- her tests were easy. OVERALL-Avoid her in the summer if possible.
never showed up less than half an hour late & never made an excuse unless more than 45 minutes late. lazy, inconsistent and unfair grader. disorganized. I too would say to avoid her during the summer. all that said, she doesn't expect you to know more than she's willing to teach.
best recitation teacher for chem 2, make sure you get in her class and lab
I love this teacher she works at a very reasonable pace and is very clear a student cant ask for a better teacher and ive heard from other students that she was also an awesome professor for rescitation for chem 2.0 so i would defintely recommend her :D
Okayyy for all those suckers out there who dont like Prof Abbasi...ur just idiots urselves who never have taken chemistry in ur lives except in college. the rest of us have taken it JHS and HS. And the ones who have a problem with her usually have a problem with all their teachers cuz they are soo dumb. And then take her for granted sometimes by wa
One of the worst teachers ever to live! Not helpful at all because she can't speak english!
my teacher during summer class.. shes the best!!!
very clear
I think she is a great professor. She really knows her stuff and explains it well. She admits having an accent, but tells you ask questions if you don't understand her. I recommend her to all.
K...Pro. Abbasi is really ez and very leniet. the only problem with her is that she gives too much time to take quizes. This is fine at the time but when time comes for the final you'll be lost unless u study on your own. Doesn't explainon how to do labs. She's really cool but study alot on your own. lab quizzes are the only hard stuff.
great teacher, easy a.
Very good professor who really tries to get you to pass. She's a fair grader and is easy to get ahold of after class.
very helpful and fair
The worst teacher I have EVER had.. hands down. She is unorganized, uninterested and unknowledgable! Given I took a summer class, she was late EVERY DAY, switched tests around at the drop of a hat, tested us on subjects we didnt learn yet... messed up COUNTLESS examples on the board and ALWAYS had mistakes in her exams. She is AWFUL!
This professor is incredibly caring, unlike many of the others among the Brooklyn College Science staff. She truly loves her students and does everything she can for them to do well and pass. I definitely recommend!
I took this class long ago when I was an undergrad student, and I had to put too much effort to get a passing grade. But I have to admit that she is just perfect. Alwasy very helpful and ready to help.
I took this class with her, she was helpful with the labs, and very easy grader. Explained everything in detail and even stayed after class to help out with midterm and final exams. Great professor
i love her! she is an amazing person and she is so smart and sensitive and wants everyone to do well. she is the the best, if u need help she gives u her office hours or even stays after class to help u. she is amazing n prob the best lab/recitation prof in the world! :-)
I will be honest cause I know it is hard to find a good lab Professor for chemistry. Well good news I had her for but chem 1 and 2, I will make that decision for you if your not sure... TAKE HER, SHE IS THE BEST SO TAKE HER... She is very helpful and wants everyone to do well, a kind hearted person but don't try to take advantage cause it won't wor
Abbasi is one of the best teachers in BC.She is very kind, helpfull and cool. Most of the times she comes late, so she doesn't give hard time if students are late, but always checks attendance. She loves all her students, but don't try to negotiate grades with her, if she sees that you are a good student, she'll help you.
Not a bad teacher but has an extremely thick accent. I took her on saturdays and barely made it to class. If you dont understand something she will repeat it until you do. Only take her if you are interested in the course. Avoid her if you want an easy professor.
She is very helpful and an easy grader. She will help you in her office when you need the extra help. Well, just take her. She is great!!
She was very helpful during lab, graded easily. Her quizes are pretty easy as well. Her accent takes a little getting used to, she even appologizes. She wants to help you.
cool person, suck-up-able
very nice n helpful!!! =D i love her!
Best recitation professor ever. Extremely laid back and helpful. She is a great teacher as well and will clear up any material not understood. I had her for chem 1 and took her again for chem 2. Highly recommend, try to get into her class at all cost.
great
i strongly agree with "She was very helpful during lab, graded easily. Her quizes are pretty easy as well. Her accent takes a little getting used to, she even appologizes. She wants to help you."

The best lab/recitation prof! I loved her. She was always helpful. Gave 6 recitation quizes and picked the best 5. Grades very loosly on lecture exams. She does have an accent but you get used to it other than that seriously the best prof i ever encountered at BC :)
Had her for chem 1 and chem 2 she is awesome and is willing to help. Her accent is hard to get but once you get used to it its cool. She will give you extra points if you prove to her that you can do the work. quizzes are straight from the book.
She is my lab/recitation professor and I only wish we had her as our lecture professor. She is wonderful. She is incredibly helpful, and her knowledge of chemistry is boundless. She tries very hard to assist students and does so with kindness.
Wonderful teacher! Always helps students (and actually enjoys it) whether it's during class or during her office hours. Wants students to succeed and encourages them to do so. Very straightforward! A pleasure!
She is the kindest person at Brooklyn college. She always helps people and is very chilled. She drops at least 1 (and sometimes 2) quizes! Overall easy A
Very kind and helpful. Sometime she is hard to understand because of her accent, but she is the best!:)
One of the best professors I've ever had. She is the nicest, kindest teacher and truly wants you to do well. You definitely want a teacher like her, especially for a tough subject like chemistry! If there's a spot to get into her class, snatch it quick before it's too late!
if you get her as your professor, you struck gold! she is the best there is. helpful, approachable, loves her students. very fair!
AVOID IF POSSIBLE! Took her for lab and recitation, one of the worst experiences ever! she grades the lecture exams, labs, and quizzes harshly and doesn't explain lab procedures at all. When you ask her for help on the lab she usually tells you that you should know how to do it. Gets mad if you ask her questions during recitation and gives rude ans
Her quizzes are very hard to prepare for. I recommend some other chem 2 lab prof. if you want a nice but very hard prof take her. Prepare to have marks all over your lab reports. I took her because everyone told me to then regretted it.
She is the most amazing person in Brooklyn College. She is the nicest person, she's very easy and lenient, and she wants all of her students to succeed. She is the only one that you should take for chem 1 and chem2
she's really nice but gives hard quizzes .
Professor Abassi was great for chem1 lab! Her quizzes weren't too bad, and she graded very very fairly. She really cares a lot about her students and is actually quite funny. She jokes around a lot during recitation, and attendance isn't mandatory there. But once you get to lab she becomes more serious and cares a lot about all the rules. TAKE HER.
SHE'S VERY SMART BUT TOUGH GRADER. GIVES HARD QUIZZES. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TAKING ANY CLASS WITH HER.
Professor Abbassi is ok. One thing that frustrated me was she would say we are going to have quiz on chapter 16. Then put questions on chapter 17. She would do this on every quiz. This destroyed my grade because I would study at home and not go to lecture. Had she said what was going to be on quiz I would done much better probably gotten an A.
Took prof Abbasi for Chem 1100 lab. She was AWESOME! Best lab prof in BC by far! She rlly cares and wants all her students to do well. Encouraging and preps you rlly well for exams! definitely recommend her!
She is the best in the Chemistry department. You won't regret taking her, very lenient and very nice. She cares about each and every student.
I wouldn't know anything at all without her recitation classes. She really cares about her students and tries her best to help her students pass the quizzes. Her practice problems really help me learn. Take her!
She is a sweet lady and knows her stuff, but COVID is ruining it. Im taking this class during COVID Summer semester so everything is online and her internet is choppy, her lectures are sloppy, and she really really hates giving us more time on exams. She gives us an hour for 35 questions 15 of them short response where we have to show our work.
I was struggling with chem 1 and she helped me so much. I wasn't in her recitation class but she made it clear that if anyone wanted to join they could. She grades her lab really thoroughly, but an overall fair grader.Take her for lab and recitation if you can shes the best.
supppperrrr niceeee and very clear. I loved her and I purposely chose to take her again for chem 2. Rec and lab. grading is fair but will find waysto give you extra points because shes just so sweet. wil answeer questions happily. TAKE HER
I had this professor for Recitation and Lab, it helps to familiarize yourself with her. Shes a fair grader and she also gives partial credit. when you arent doing well on quizzes shell invite you to her office hours to help you. And if you arent doing well in lab shell give you the opportunity to redo lab assignments and still get full credit
amazing! i love her. best professor out there. cares about you and wants t help. amazing at making difficult concepts easy. fair/easy grader.
Professor Abbasi was not the best teacher I've had. She grades pretty harshly, and she is pretty unclear as to what she wants. When asking to review our past lab reports asking what we did wrong, she blatantly refused. Her lab quizzes are mainly on lecture material, not lab. If you have to take her, she's ok, but there are better lab professors.
Prof. Abbasi is kind to her students but fails to tell us what she expects in the lab reports. I wish there was clear grading criteria for the lab, as many points can be deducted from sig figs or percent errors. Also, note that her lab quizzes are similar to her recitation quizzes, with some true/false conceptual questions.
abbasi was very adequate. she's straightforward in what you need to know, tho it wont always help you that much in lecture. what you'll see/learn from her chem recitation material is what you'll see on her quizzes. its best to go to recitation because she'll explain tricky problems. she also holds group review sessions before major lecture tests
had her for lab and she is good because she will help you if you are confused with the lab but she is a harsh grader on her lab reports. Her lab quizzes are hard. Overall shes nice and is helpful.
She is overall a good professor, she can be a bit snappy at times. She knows what she's talking about and cares about the student and is understanding. She may act a bit snippy but don't worry, she's fine. Tough grader though, but always ask questions about what you got and why you got it.
Professor Abbasi is helpful but has tough grading. Her lab quizzes are challenging, but attending recitation really helps. unstuckstudy and practice problems were key to doing well.
