very easy and interesting prof
No Comments
Very interesting man. Has an accent, however, it's not hard to understand. The book is a MUST, and if you study the exact book in accordance to his notes, you will do well. Makes the class fun going to.
Awesome teacher. Just dont be late or disrespect him. Pay attention, his tests arent bad at all and he gives interesting group projects which teach alot and are easy A's which help boost final grade. I recommend him to any1 willing to put in a lil effor
Probably the best professor I had at BC. I had him about five times and each time he impressed me (great use of technology). Cares about the students, knows his stuff incredibly well. Classes were really easy and can net you good grades with little work.
The only way you are doing well in this class is if you do well on the tests. He talks a lot about assignments but when it comes down to it, he doesn't take attendence or anything into consideration but the test scores. Test scores are all the matter.
Used to be better.... only looks at the test scores but give a lot of assighments to do at home... very disapointed
The class consists of one midterm and one final(non-cumalative). He also assigns three 2-3 page essays that are not too difficult to complete, and an assignment on the web. overall, he is a good professor.
better off taking different professor. Average C
he really suck asnd exams are hard
I took him twice and loved him each time. He puts Powerpoint slides on Blackboard so the students can print them out and go along w/the notes he gives in class. VERY CLEAR and lets you know exactly whats on exam.
he makes his notes avail. on Bb, tests are not that bad if you listen in class and pay attention to what he stresses. hes alittle corny but makes you laugh sometimes. i recommend him
This course can be interesting if the subject is your thing. He is fair and the test are exactly what he was speaking about in class, so do not miss a class. In order to pass, PARTICIPATE as much as possible. Group projects sucks if you have a bad group
He's allrigh. interesting but not easy. expect a B,A's are hard to come by. Class average was like 70 something
He is a very good Professor If you post your work on time you would definately get a good grade
EXCELLENT!! Got an A & A- from him, but because I did my work! DO ALL your work on time and PARTICIPATE PARTICIPATE PARTICIPATE and you will do well!
He is funny, interesting, not difficult and doesn't give a lot of work. But you better participate in class.
Hes a great professor really wants you to do well his test are a bit hard but if you study i think youll be alright
his class seems not to hard but the test are very confusing even with the curve. he explains alot of things that end up not on the test. his reviews before a test are bs he tells summarizes whats on the test but still makes you study 10 pages less than the entire book. would not take him again
pretty easygoing prof. gave out 3 exams, based on the book and his slides. study those and you'll do fine. recommend him for 50.9. can someone rate him for 80.1???
interesting class but hard test! final grade only based the three tests ! You must study the textbook and notes very well in order to get a better grade. You Must Work Hard
I took him twice, for BUS 50.2 and 76.4. He's a really interesting and funny professor, he probably knows more about business, then any of the other professors at BC. He usually only gives 2 exams (76.4). It's multiple choice and material comes from both book and slides. Be sure to study, attend every day and for review and you will get A.
Really interesting professor. He has a lot of passion for what he does. He's very knowledgeable, openminded and very funny. His exams are fair so don't expect to slack off and get a good grade. You have to read the text and study his slides.
it's a little bit hard. you have to study to get A, but he always helps students outside the class. i used to take the same class in other college, but it was so boring and i hated it. but, w/ him i hv so much fun. Some students don't like his concept. He's not forcuing on how to meke $/ succeed but how to make the world a better place through bus.
This man is the greatest prof by far...he is not only knowledgeable he is also very helpful. The classes feel like a discussion session rather than a lecture, you also learn alot and you dont even know it. WISH HE TAUGHT ALL THE COURSES!!! HE IS A DEFINETELY MUST TAKE!!! EASY A JUST READ SLIDES AND TEXT!!!
he is the most intersing professor ever, and definatelly the most knowleggeble. he presents all the matherial very clearly and extremely interesting. you wount want to leave his class. there are only 2 tests, 50% each from the final grade. uses power point slides, anyways, HE IS GREAT!!!!!!! TAKE HIM!
Hes such a good guy. He knows a lot bout the subject and teaches well. uses powerpoint slides- doesnt make you attend class but u really should- a lot of time he points out wats gonna be on the tests. 2 test- 50% each- you should attend majority. He's got some funny stories too-- txtbook use is low, but it wouldnt hurt to skim thru before the test
This guy has a pretty heavy chinese accent, but you can def understand him. He gives 2 test 50% each. STUDY his slides because the whole test is based on it, be in class, because he point out what will be on the test when he teaches it.. and there goes your easy A =) cool professor
This Prof is great, you should take him. The way he presents the material is useful, plus the class is VERY interesting. You can actually learn &get a good grade if you at least bother to show up to class
I LOVE THIS GUY! Although he has a heavy accent, he is clear and VERY interesting. I kept laughing the whole semester at his jokes and sarcastic remarks about life+his subject, never bored at all! U actually learn a lot from him. Midterm/final and that's it, if u listen and keep track of the notes(he post slides online) guarantee A. TAKE HIM! =)
great professor. he teaches a lot but its very manageable. you dont have to buy the textbook. i did and i literally never opened the plastic. he tells you what he putting on the midterm and final. youre not asked to do much in this class. and the guy is hilarious.
HE IS AN EXTREMELY NICE GUY HE GAVE EXCELLENT EXAMPLES SO THAT THE STUDENTS UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT HE COMPARES TOPICS IN THIS SUBJECT TO THE REAL WORLD, WHICH IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL! BASICALLY ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY, HE GIVES 2 TESTS 50% EACH, AND IF YOU STUDY AND LISTEN TO LECTURES AND TAKE NOTED , YOULL DO WELL
Great professor. He uses many examples to help you understand. Posts PowerPoint presentations on blackboard which help pinpoint what’s on the exams. Attendance is not mandatory but does help when it comes to getting good grades on the exams.
nice person, good teacher
Really, this was one of the greatest prof i had. He was so clear on wat was and was not going to be on the test. dont need to go to class cause attendence aint**** to him but it helps so you know wat to study for test. Uses plain words. Class notes on BlackBroad. He's funny too. Take him!!!
He is a good professor for marketing, he knows his subject and his is very clear. However, there is too many terms that you have to memorize even though he tells you what is going to be on the test. Also, ATTENDANCE counts. it helps you. Take him because you will learn a lot about marketing. He is very fair and no Curve.
Best Professor I've ever met.. If you want get a good Grade and and graduate with some knowledge of marketing, business take him. Also he is fun!!! Recommend!!
HE IS THE BEST professor in BC! he makes everything so easy, you MUST take him. He makes me love marketing even more...
An excellent professor. His class is so interesting and he is an extremely intelligent professor. I loved going to his class and he is a very fair grader. One of the best business professors at BC!!!
Prof Hirakubo is a very fair professor. I took him for the happiness class, it was a fun class, but a lot of papers to write. basically its a writing class. Not too hard but a lot of work to do.
Brooklyn College should hire more teachers like Prof. Hiracubo. He knows tons of information and is very clear and generous in sharing his knowledge. Extremely interesting class!
WONDERFUL PROFESSOR. VERY ENGAGING. KEEPS THE CLASS UP WITH HIS JOKES. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. WISH MORE PROFESSORS WERE LIKE HIM. FAIR ON HIS EXAMS, POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS HELPED A LOT!! A DEFINTITE MUST TAKE!!!!!!
Professor Hirakubo is a great professor. he keeps the class interested on the material with his great teaching ability and some of his jokes. He knows the material very well and presents them on power point. his exams are fair i recommend him to any students who have to take this course
Very engaging, gives great examples, however, he jumps from one thiing to another. Test question are from his slide shows, so if you learn them by heart, you;ll get a good grade
I took this course online (via Black-Board) and the articles and videos he had assigned are perfect and relevant to the course. Expect a lot of writing and typing responses/reviews (one response/review for each article/video), as well as a book report on the required text for this course (which is about happiness). I recommend h
Gives great notes interesting lectures. Tough grader in the sense that the 3 tests, including the 3rd which is the final, count for the whole grade (33.3% each I wasn't crazy about that. But, no homework and provides all information thats gonna be on test. Tough tests only cause u have several possible options, all multiple choice. Recommend!
Good, charismatic teacher, very engaging but the tests are a bit challenging. I managed an A in this class because he offered an extra credit assignment, but I didn't have that opportunity in his marketing class so I ended up with a B+. He's a nice guy, but don't expect his class to be an easy A.
This amazing japanese professor is so smart i promise you wont fall asleep in class. I promise you wont even take out your phone to text. He is super smart and teaches with a passion unlike other professors who teach for their paychecks. 3 exams. Each worth 33%. Do not fail one if you do it will set you back. Study exactly what he tells you too. I had him for international business and consumer behavior. His style of teaching is clean and on point. Definetly the guy you want to take.
He goes over almost all stuff. Could have made lesson more lively, but good thing is that all slides are on blackboard. Read follow up, show up, and you will do good in exams...exams are everything.I also just wanna pass the class, i dont wanna do assignments, projects, speeches and all that. that's why i like his class. just remember study &
He's a great professor! He has a funny accent but it's understandable, and he goes over all of his slides in class and always gives examples for everything. It sucks that your grade is completely based on tests and attendance doesn't count, but otherwise I learned a lot and he's a funny guy!
He is extremely knowledgeable! He always knows what he's talking about & how to make lectures interesting. The class consisted of 4 essays, a powerpoint presentation and a final exam. He tells you exactly what's on the exam and is very open to helping students. I've taken him before, and I would definitely take him again for any future course.
Only three test in his class,no curve, nothing !you have to do good all of three tests. If you get low grade one of the test. You total average wii bw low too. Be carefully.i don't like this professor!!!!!!!!!!
he's a good professor. he talks a lot about japan and it's very interesting to know. he givs 3 exams only and each r worth 33%. so thts all. to do well in his class u need study all the slides from the ppt and u'll do just fine.
Prof. Hirakubo is one "jewel" in Brooklyn college. I took 3 of his classes while I was a student. Very willing to help you, he cares about his students =) He is very knowledgeable, engaging and charismatic! Loves his job at teaching and definitely transmit that to his students. I was never bored and was always interested in what he had to say.
Hirakubo is a great professor! He loves to teach, which makes the students want to learn. It's very easy to get a good grade. He tells you what slides to study from his power points. He's easygoing, but does expect that students are there to learn, not just fill a seat. He's also very easy to get in touch with. Deff a professor worth taking!
I took 3 classes with him. He is amazing. He is passionate about teaching and wants his students to learn and succeed, not just to do well on their tests. 3 tests, all 40 q's & all m/c. Textbook is not needed, just take notes and read his power points. One of the best business professors in BC. He actually motivates his students to come to class!
Amazing professor!!! If you can take him- do, he will teach you so much about the course you are studying and life!!! He is interesting, extremely fair, and funny. He wants his students to succeed and helps them any way he can, but you have to show effort and hard work. Took him for consumer behavior and international business--highly recommend!
2nd time taking him, got a A for consumer behavior. 1st time i took him got a C+ for marketing. after taking him once, i understand he just gives 3 exams, each is one third of ur grade. no work. no need for textbook. all u need r the slides from class. pay attention in class, study the slides and u'll do great on exam. Easy A for lazy ppl like me
Nakato is an awesome professor. Easily one of the best in BKC. He is super clear, and loves to teach so he's always enthusiastic. No homework, all lectures are Powerpoints which he posts on blackboard. 3 exams and he tells you what's on them. Boosts your grade by half a grade if you're absent 3 times or less. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Very enthusiastic professor! Go over the slides and understand what is being taught and you'll do great on his tests! Two tests and one final. Textbook NOT required!
His class is easy. No need to buy the textbook, he uses ppt and the exams are based on the ppt and his lectures. 3 exams, he will review with you before the exams. I done poorly in his class because I miss couple classes and only spent about 2 hours to study before exam, eventually I got B-. But this is my problem, not his. He is good professor!
he's amazing, so much fun. His lectures are very clear and interesting.
Hirakubo's class can get very boring at times. His tests aren't hard but aren't easy either. If you study from the slides he posts you should be fine, but don't expect the tests to be easy. If you miss less than 3 classes he gives extra credit.
Best professor in Brooklyn College.
The class can be interesting, but his lectures get very long at times. The exams are very tough which i didn't like. He seems like a nice guy, but outside of class he isn't really helpful. He doesn't respond to emails at all. 3 exams, and if you miss less than 3 classes he gives you a half letter grade boost. Just go to class, and take notes.
He gives out 3 exams, each worth 33%. No extra credit. The exams are pretty tough, they're based on his lectures, slides and video clips. Show up for class, take notes and study a week before the exam and you'll be OK. His lectures can get really boring.
Professor Hirakubo is an okay professor, well his lectures are clear, but when it comes to the exams are tough is not the same. His exams are based on his lectures and slides. Also, takes notes. you just have to study extra hard . He is a helpful guy in class, but outside of class he don't explain well like he does in class.
I had him for international business. This is a good professor, his lectures are interesting most of the time. He is obsessed about japan and asia so don't be surprised if that's all he talks about in his lectures. He should seriously teach Asian Business. I'm taking him again in his Happiness class. Textbook not required, just study the slides.
He is an excellent professor well organized serious and well experienced one of the best professors in Brooklyn college and one of the best professors I had in my life I did learn a lot especially from his personal experience In fact he deserves credit and respect which is the most important So if you want to learn take him
Such a great professor! Tests are extremely fair. 40 multiple choice questions that are all based on his power point slides which are very clear and are posted on blackboard. He makes his lectures funny and interesting. I'm taking him again next semester!
A real gem out of all the other business professors in Brooklyn College. Very straight forward class, 2 midterms + 1 final, that's it. No need for any textbook. While the class is lecture heavy, his lectures are amazing; super informative and interesting. Lecture slides are posted. Tests can be hard but study a bit and you'll be fine.
I'm taking him right now and I've learned so much in this class. It was truly enjoyable. If you work in retail, this might benefit you ;). He adds a little bit of humor to every slide and is very informative. 4 exams; 25% each; no HW. I've been getting 86+ on each exam so far. In order to pass, go to class, take good notes, enjoy the class, study.
Posts all the slides on blackboard. However, it is worth coming to lecture because he elaborates on the slides by giving examples which shows up on the exams. He gives out four exams (40 m/c, each worth 25%) and thats your grade. First two exams are harder than last two. Take this class cause its a breeze.
Four exams all multiple choice and worth 25% each. It's very lecture based so come to class and listen to what he says cause it may help for the exam. He loves talking about asian business, he needs to teach a class just about that because he's so passionate over it.
Does the bare minimum to be considered a professor. 4 tests and reads off someone else's PowerPoint. That is the class. Do well in the 4 tests you pass. There is nothing else.
Ok so this guy is a textbook definition of knows what he is talking about but cant teach. He is good at convincing people that marketing actually means anything but when it comes to tests (only 4 tests btw nothing else for the entire course) his questions are tricky because its stuff outside the textbook and lectures. Just awful teaching.
No homework, just 3 tests. THATS IT! Its good to show up to the lectures because he states what will be on the test. But if you're not a good test taker this is not the class for you. He gives no extra credit just 50 multiple choice question exams three times in the semester.
Very lecture based. I never purchased the textbook but still did well in the class. he is very funny and cares about his students. he says what he's going to put on the tests and almost all the material is from the lecture so its worth it to show up and take good notes. would definitely recommend.
Hes a great professor. Read the chapters or PowerPoint slides. All 3 exams are straight from the textbook and PowerPoint. He loves talking about Asian business. Hes from Japan. No extra credits. I, myself screwed it up a bit in that class. This will be a lesson to learn not to do that again in the future but at least I got a passing grade.
He doesn't really care about his students, if you do bad in 1 exam GOOD LUCK. There were only 3 exams 33% each! NO EXTRA CREDIT, no HW's just 3 exams and based on them he'll give you final GRADE. AVOID him
If you have the chance to take him-do it. Not only does he teach the material but offers great feedback- very inspiring and knowledgeable. He's in it for the students' success and well being you can feel it. He gives three exams- all multiple choice if you show up to class and listen you do well on his exams. Very simple!
study his slides.. you wont need to open the textbook
Very strict grader, especially considering the circumstances. Put weeks into an essay and got a B. (Though essays may just be for this semester because he does not want people to cheat) Sets a word minimum and gets aggravated when you do not excessively exceed it. He was a great lecturer, but a bit harsh. 3 tests: 33.3% each
An educated professor but is a very harsh grader. He does not care how much time and effort you put into his paper and he will still give you a bad grade. Even during this pandemic he showed no sympathy towards his students.
Prof Hirakubo is a nice guy, really passionate about what he teaches and he's knowledgeable. His classes aren't an easy A though, you really have to study for his 3 exams (33.3% each) if you mess up on one, you wont be receiving an A. He gives extra credit, which is optional and requires ALOT of time. For a decent grade, put in the effort & show up
He is an interesting professor, I loved his lectures. If you don't study don't expect to do well. He grades on 3 tests multiple choice. However, during the pandemic, he gave use two essay exams. Honestly, I don't understand how people can complain. They were long but I did them both on the due date and got an A on both. He gave extra points too.
Really solid professor. He adds points on to your final grade just for showing up to class. His lectures are interesting although they don't have a ton of relevance to his exams. He gives 3 mc exams 33.3 percent of the grade each. As long as you study the slides and are a decent test taker, you should get an A.
The main bases of grading, for now, are 10 quizzes and 2 essays. The quizzes are easy since they're open book but the essays can be kind of hard because he doesn't provide examples of what he is looking for. The only thing I can recommend is to explain clearly the concept you're using, explain it thoroughly, and exceed significantly the word count.
I liked this professor a lot. Class was not mandatory but he would post all of the Zoom recordings on BlackBoard so we can review them later. He always gives chances to do extra credit and his lectures are fun. But, there are a lot of quizzes and the essays he assigns are not easy, so don't forget to study!
He is a nice professor. Quizzes for every single chapters, One ethics paper, and final exam paper (50%). There is also a extra credit paper which is 10%. So far a nice professor. 100% recommened.
HARSH GRADER EVER, I GOT ALL A ON OTHER CLASSES EXCEPT FOR THIS CLASS. VERY STRICT AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENT. 10 QUIZES, 6 ESSAY, AND ONE BOOK REPORT.
A great professor but get ready to write. The midterm consisted of three papers, the final was one long paper than there is an extra credit paper as well. While you should be ready to write a lot, he teaches a lot of interesting topics. I would recommend taking him.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER, ECTREMELY HARSH GRADER. DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENT
He's a great professor! Everyone else who says otherwise are just hurt. This class didn't have any homework. There are quizzes every week that you can do on your own time and all the answers are on ql. There is one midterm, final, and extra credit. Midterm is lightwork just use his slides, final is a project use slides , class is recorded - EASY A
Extremely friendly & funny professor. You can just tell he LOVES to teach & loves his students. He gives quizzes at the end of every chapter (<15 quizzes) but they're all based off the PowerPoint slides. Midterm/Final are both papers, 1500 words each. The papers are not hard, but they are time-consuming. I would suggest starting it ASAP.
Four exams, each accounting for 25%, plus one credit accounting for 5% of the total score. The exam is not difficult, he will give a review sheet. A lot of extra credit. It mainly tests your understanding of professional vocabulary and will give you some examples to choose the corresponding vocabulary40 questions, with a high fault tolerance rate.
He makes the lessons interesting. One of the good professors in this college. I could have done better if I had studied a little more. Just make sure you study the slides and review for the tests and do his extra credit. It will be a easy pass and can be a easy A if you put a little more effort into it.
Definitely one of the BEST professors at BC! Attendance is not mandatory - he uses it as extra credit, but this is my second semester taking him in a row. Tru
Professor Hirakubo loves teaching and it shows. His lectures are interesting just pay attention! He uses slides and explains each concept. No hws, no papers, no quizzes and you get extra credit for attendance. Final grade is based off of 3 tests thats it. If you need to take this class I recommend taking it with him you will learn a lot.
the exams are easy if you pay attention in class, they consist of 40 multiple choice. he offers an extra credit paper at the end of the semester. he also gives extra credit based on attendence. no hw besides for the 3 exams. he's a nice professor that genuinely wants his students to do well. I recommend taking him.
The professor has a specific grading system, but engaging with it pays off. Lectures are worth attending to understand concepts. For study prep, ChatGPT and unstuck study were really helpful.
Take him! He's very passionate, lectures aren't heavy, very open to questions and discussion. Zero assignments. It's just the multiple choice exams. He hints most of the questions in the lectures, he will say "this will be a question on the exam". It's from slides but he will say exactly what's on it in class, also ec for attendance. great prof.
I haven't rated any professor until this one. Professor Hirakubo is very passionate, and I genuinely feel like I learned because of him. He makes the class fun and easy to understand, and I would definitely take him again.
Great professor, cares about students.
