I am one of the oldest students in the class, I have children, and have had to excuse myself from class for emergencies. She is very understanding. Drafts are submitted prior to d/date, and suggestions are added. Class does get off track, but this should be appreciated!! She cares about students and scholarly work, and provides the tools necessary.

Prof Byrd is one of the best at gcc, if you have to take an introductory communications class, I would strongly recommend Professor Byrd. There's just one thing DO THE WORK!! You can get an A but the work must be completed and it must be error proofed work. My only regret is that she isn't teaching 101 in the fall.

Great Professor! As an "older student" starting out on a college journey I was very fortunate to have signed up for her class! I was scared to take this course after being out of high school for over 30 years, but Dr. Byrd made me feel right at home. Her goal is to see all of her "scholars" graduate at the top. Professor Byrd was an awesome teacher. You get 3 fairly easy papers to write, which you do drafts for first, so it is almost impossible not to get an A on them because she edits them for you. There was a good amount of online days which were awesome and easy journal entries. I would definitely take her again!

There were three essays, some assigned homework, and multiple online journal days. She even checked and edited out essays for us! Dr. Byrd ran most of her discussions more than the students and wasn't consistent with journals. However, I think shes a fair grader and enthusiastic about her students success. Originally I believed her class would be difficult to pass, however it was actually quite simple. Simply follow the Academic schedule. I do not advice this class for students only interested in their eng-101 credit. This teacher has a lot to teach, and she doesn't need the book to do it. This is a class for "scholars" who want to learn life skills.

I took this class online, and it was pretty easy. I had the same professor for 101 and took it in class. I got a B without really trying too hard. She does grade hard on grammar, but it is an English class. She's very helpful with grading your papers. Just make sure you turn in all your work on time and ask whatever questions you may have.

I took Dr. Byrd's class online, and it was an easy A. There's two main papers that had to be written, 1 quiz, and 5 discussion questions. It was an easy A as long as you took the time to do the assignments. She gave good feed back and everything was thoroughly explained. I did not need the text book at all.

The book was only used for two stories so best to skip buying and borrow from a classmate for these.

English101 accelerated online Fall2017 Professor Byrd is awesome! She gives you ample time, notice, and reminders for completion of essay's and discussion questions. The really cool thing about the class is that you write a rough draft which only has to be 500words, then she edits and gives you feed back. The final draft is usually due a weeklater

Took her class online during winter semester. Not too many assignments which was nice during my holidays. Don't buy the book, she provides links. Directions were clear, feedback was helpful, & she usually had grades in within 24 hours. You will have to work hard on essays but there were only 2. Do your work and follow directions and you'll pass.

I took Dr. Byrd for ENG101 & 102 this year and ended with an A in both courses. She's very clear on expectations, has great communication skills for anything that may change, and encourages students to reach out for help if they need it. Book isn't required, but is needed for a better grade when writing the required papers.

Professor Byrd was a very good teacher and I would definitely take her class again. I will be honest her grading is a little weird, but if you work hard and put time into your work you should get a decent grade. I took ENG102 in a 5 week summer course and there was not very many assignments due.

Dr. Byrd provides explicit instructions and gives all assignments at the start of the semester. I was a little afraid to take English Comp as a block class in only 7 weeks, but there were 4 writing assignments (submitted in segments with feedback prior to the final submission) with plenty of time to complete each one. Looking forward to ENG102.

Dr. Byrd is really helpful and gives great feedback on papers, as long as you take her feedback and apply it you will definitely do well in her class!

I took the seven week course and there were only 4 written assignments to do. They were very well spaced out regarding due dates and she gave really good feedback on the drafts before the final assignment was due. If you follow the rubric on the assignments then you can easily get an A. Totally recommend this prof!

Ive never written a review on a professor before but I had to rave about Dr. Byrd. Ive never been very interested in English before taking her online course but she structures it beautifully. The entire class is mapped out on the syllabus (with deadlines) and she makes it so easy to manage your time. Id absolutely take her again.

I cannot say enough good things about this professor. I received a 99 in her class. She lays out all the assignments ahead of time, which is super helpful. As long as you do not miss the due dates, you will be fine. I took her during COVID, and she was still active with her students. One of the best professors I have ever had.

Her whole entire course was completely mapped out. It really helped me understand what I had to do. It was especially helpful because of being my first year as a college student.

Dr. Gayle Byrd is an exceptional professor that justly challenges peoples writing in third person analysis. This form of writing is extraordinarily challenging as it will set you up for success when needing to write on professional levels. I found taking Dr. Byrd's class a privilege, and I was not disappointed. Read everything is the best advice!

I took Dr. Byrd's class for ENG 101 and 102 in 7-week online format & would recommend. There were 4 major writing assignments for each, with clear guidelines/deadlines. Book is optional but helpful to your writing/analysis. Instructions were repetitive at times (multiple docs with same information) but she gives helpful feedback to improve writing.

I took ENG-101 with Dr. Byrd and was delighted to find out she teaches ENG-102. Took ENG-101 and ENG-102 online. Dr. Byrd perfectly organizes the structure of the class, which helps to complete all assignments on time. All the necessary resources for the analysis are also provided, which greatly simplifies the work. Highly recommend this professor.

Great professor! The work assigned was challenging, but it is very easy to succeed in her class if you put in the work. She gives detailed feedback after every assignment, and grades quickly. She is organized and concise with expectations. Overall, she is an excellent professor to have.

The textbook is completely optional and isn't needed to pass. The instructions for each assignment are very clear. She gives all of the resources needed to write the essays.

She provides a clear outline of the course, gives great feedback on all assignments, and gives us a lot of resources to use to help us. It is a nondemanding, super organized class and the textbook is not needed. Great prof and class!

Dr. Byrd is a great Professor. She puts ALL the class information including assignments, reference links, tests, etc... in the first lecture so that you can work at your own pace. Dr. Byrd gives a plethora of information on how-to and where-to find assistance with assignments. Dr. Byrd is always available to reach out to for help.

This was a great class. I learned a great deal, and I feel Dr. Byrd gives 100 percent of herself to the materials and to help her students succeed . The reading materials were interesting and the research she provided was essential. She is an excellent professor.

I never do this, but I haven't had a teacher this rewarding in forever. I personally don't care all that much for school, as I'm sure many of you feel the same. But my god, Dr. Byrd was outstanding and truly made me care for once to actually go above and beyond the call of duty. The work is hard believe me, but the payoff is worth it.

Professor Byrd's English 102 class was very well organized. We had to complete 4 discussion posts and write 3 essays. I typically do not like writing papers, but she gives you a lot of interesting topics to choose from. She also provides a clear rubric which I found helpful. Great professor and would definitely take her class again!

Dr. Byrd's ENG102 class was a delight. Instructions were clear and to the point. Assignments were drafts, essay's, and responses. Overall it's an easy class as long as you follow the modules and turn work in on time. Dr. Byrd responds to emails in a timely manner and gives great feedback on all assignments. Occasionally, the volume of .pdf links could get confusing, and locating rubrics and requirements could be a little more difficult than it had to be, but timely feedback and personalized comments on each assignment were really high points of her course.

Dr. Byrd was a fine professor. Nothing super out of the ordinary, but she never answered my emails. Takes forever to grade important stuff, but will grade little assignments fast. Lots of discussion posts. Nice lady and not too hard, I would take her class again.

I enjoyed taking Dr. Byrd's class. I took it online, and didn't have much of an issue, but she was basically unreachable if you had questions (for me anyway). She has her rubric and she sticks to it, but not a very timely grader. Speeches and discussion posts were easy, but don't expect to get a grade back within the next month. Very nice though.

Dr. Byrd released all the assignments at the very beginning with clear instructions and due dates. Early submission was allowed, and you were encouraged to do so if you could. There are few assignments that are necessary to complete by the end of the semester, but all of the assignments are accessible from the start of the course. I took professor Byrd's online class for English-102 online. I highly recommend her due to her easy teaching style. I was never good at writing essays, but with her directions I excelled this class very easily. Just prepare yourself to write essays, if you can write an essay. You will be just fine!!

Class was very simple, and she was very straight forward with directions. If you do your work, there is no doubt you will succeed in this class. There are not many assignments, so it is important to put in a lot of effort into your writing. 100% recommend taking this course with her as the proffessor.

I took her online course! It was very easy to follow as she left thorough expectations for each assignment. Very generous with time given in between assignments, and grading was very fair.
