I took her class in a night summer session. She made the material interesting and easy to understand. She was always willing to answer questions and didn't give up until it made sense!
She gives a ten point quiz every Friday and they are relatively easy. She does her best to make sure her students understand the material and if you have a question, just ask. She will take the time to actually stop and explain the answer in class rather than asking to see you after class to speak about your question.
Nice lady, very willing to give extra help wherever needed, but you have to take the initiative and ask for it. Not the most interesting, but overall kind and steady.
does not speak good english. hard to understand. talks too fast. does not explain things clearly
This was a very easy class. Chauhan's sometimes hard to understand and she explains most of the chapters through her words, instead of showing examples. Tests and quizzes are easy. She only gives extra credit out with a few problems at the end of her exams. (You'll see.) If you remember ANYTHING from high school algebra, this class is for you.
Lectures are very fast and cover a lot of material. Hard to keep up at times during class. Grades fairly and will help you if you ask if time permits. She tries to review as often as possible but there just isnt enough time. She does a good job helping you make sense of it all. She is a very nice person and wants to see you pass the class.
She is a nice person and wants her students to do well. Unfortunately, she fails to give clear explanations of some math concepts. I still recommend her because she is a fair grader, and gives bonus points on tests. If you go to class, do the homework and test review sheets, and have someone at home that can help you, you will do well in this class
At the very start of class she said she would be starting late and ending late. After talking with her to have her run her class at the correct time she acted like a total witch and blamed me for having a class after wards. She can't speak english and she does not teach. She simply puts equations on the board and then solves them. She can not teach
i have never understod algebra so well her teaching is easily understood. loves the smartboard with note from class posted instantly.
don't take this teacher. no offense, she's indian and you can't understand a word she says. people dropped the class the day before the final. half the class dropped it by the middle of the semester. she had to offer our class extra credit because we were all failing. DON'T TAKE HER! YOU WON'T LEARN A THING!!!!!
tHIS PROFESSOR IS NOT HELPFUL OR CLEAR ON ANYTHING DO NOT TAKE HER SHE HAS NO TEACHING SKILLS WITH MY EXPERIENCE IN HER CLASS.yuck!!!
I'm surprised at all the bad comments. I admit, I considered dropping the course when I first heard the accent, but really, it's math--to vocabulary in math isn't exactly broad! I thought she was very fair, and she really tried to get students to interact during class. She was also very open to having students contact her if they needed help.
Very difficult class to learn from. The same class structure is repeated every day, and her voice is fairly monotone making it easy to get bored. I found it almost impossible to keep interested during class, and ended up teaching myself at home. Close to 2/3rd's of the class dropped out, i would not recommend this class.
She is very hard to understand cause of her accent. She grades you on homework and tests, and they are very hard to get done. She doesn't have any teaching skills. Almost half of the class droped it by the middle of the sem. and 2 to 3 people droped it on the day of final. DO NOT TAKE HER if you wanna learn something or get good greads.
AMAZED at neg cmmnts! Algebra is scary & HARD-causes neg feelings. I failed it twice in HS. But she couldn't be more helpful (IF YOU ASK FOR HELP!)Teach skills & the txt book are good. Noticed the drop outs were NOT paying attn, taking notes, or doing the hmwrk- which she tells you you MUST in order to pass! Accent not a prblm if you PAY ATTENTION!
This is my second time taking calc, and I love this prof. She does have an accent but nothing to talk about. She throughly explains the topics and gives many examples to go by. There are a total of 4 homeworks before each test. I passed this class smoothly because of this prof.
She is boring but the quizes are given as take home assignments and the tests are okay if you do you homework. doing your homework and reviewing the material is a must! This teacher is helpful if you need something explained but she explains everything in one way, she doesn't try different approaches if you don't get it. Id try another professor.
This professor is more interested in nitpicking work than whether or not you understand the subject. For instance, I lost a full letter grade on a quiz because she deducted one point from every answer for writing in capital letters. Even if you get every answer correct on a quiz or test, prepare for the possibility of a C if you leave out commas.
She a very nice teacher and is very helpful when needed. if you pay attention and listen you will get an A. all the quizes are take home and the tests arnt hard.
Definitely agree with the comment that she does not try different approaches. Has an accent that sometimes can be hard to understand. Would not suggest this teacher if your not in to math. (Second time taking it and got a C) If you do take her, do all take home assignments and homework and it will help your grade!!
Nice person, not good teacher. Hard to hear her since she's quiet, but she also has an accent that is difficult to understand.
grades hard
Could not understand because she talked soft and had a strong accent. Gave homework but did not check it in class and did not count it as points!! Expected us to remember truth tables which is ridiculous (other teachers for math 103 gave didnt expect you to remember) Its her way or the high way in math...would not suggest her
She is an awesome teacher. I took her online...clear notes, answers questions fast, grades are prompt, nice emails, encouraging. The textbook is very easy to follow also, well written in order of learning process. I wish she was teaching MAT 104 online! Great teacher!
I really tried in her class, but I ended up withdrawing. She does have an accent, which was hard for me to understand. She's tough, but I think she's good for those who are good at math. For those who struggle, you'll only be disappointed. I'm retaking the Math 103 this semester with a different prof. Wish me luck! haha
It was difficult to understand her due to her accent. She didn't focus on one particular thing for a decent time, she just continued to move on. She was very nice though. Just wasn't a good hands on kind of teacher.
I took her a few semesters ago and withdrew. She had an accent I couldn't understand due to my hearing. She made math more difficult than it needed to be. I recommend taking Gerald Allem for MAT 103. I'm sure Namrata is a good professor for the math lovers, but maybe she should be a professor for advanced math?
SHE IS AWLFUL
Very straight forward lectures, puts class notes online, gives worksheets and practice tests. I liked her a lot, but she needs to give more time for tests because there is no time to check your work and she is a very tough grader. The final was cake though, plenty of time to relax and enjoy the math. I wouldn't recommend her if you struggle.
No complaints. Expectations were clearly explained and she was quick to answer questions, even the dumb ones. Class could easily have been 6 weeks instead of 13. Do the work, get the grade.
DO NOT choose her for your teacher. Her classes are fast and you get no time soak in what you just learned. She gives a test per chapter and 1 homework assignment per chapter plus a final. Most of the class could not even finish the test. Unless you plan on studying 4-5 hours a day for this class DO Not take her for any math class!
This teacher is a very tough grader, and doesn't budge at all or give sympathy towards anyone who doesn't do things her way. The class is very organized, but covers far too much material. It is not possible to take in information like this for people who are not 100% up to date on the prerequirements. It is a tough class if you're not good at math.
She is such a nice women, but quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever had. She gives you homework on what you will learn the next chapter, and grades it on accuracy. Her tests also are very inconsistent. One test had a four point problem, the next test had a 14 point problem. Only math genus's should take her class. Its not worth it otherwise.
she is terrible. worst teacher i have ever had. hated her class. everything about it was awful. I am a good student and I struggled to make C's. absolutely horrific.
worst teacher ever. so rude. drop the class if you see her name. doesn't know how to talk to people
One of the worst teachers I have had. She sets up days to take tests in the testing center but doesn't tell students it is closed 4 out of the 12 days she picked out. When she said we can go in on all of them, but then said it was my fault for making it on that day. Don't take if first time with online classes or have never used the testing center.
Clear assignments, help is available with an email. Be sure to review online material available on blackboard, it makes confusing material more understandable when the text isn't enough.
she is sheer example of stupidity
worst math teacher
Extremely tough grader. She will write on your quiz/test to email her questions but then gives no sympathy. By far the worst teacher I have had yet at MCCC. I highly suggest you don't take her class. I am very upset I have gotten stuck with this teacher.
Math is not my strong suit, but I loved taking her class. Assignments are clear. She is very responsive to emails She posts many lectures online to help cover the topics. She is not a warm and fuzzy teacher but she does genuinely care about her students. You MUST study to understand the material, and that is the only way to pass.
A lot of the material in her class is actually review. However, I have never had a harder grader in my life. She takes off points for things that I have never had any math professors correct in my life. Also I just took the first exam, only got 3 questions wrong but received a 81% because she takes off points like i've never seen before. o well
One of the toughest graders I have every had as a professor, but she is very caring and will answer any and all questions you have.
I haven't ever struggled THIS MUCH in a math class. She takes points off for EVERY LITTLE THING. She goes pretty fast pace too and if someone asks her to slow down she cops an attitude. Just took our 2nd exam and NOBODY finished within the allotted time and it's OUR fault because we didn't practice enough. Don't take her. Do yourself a favor.
Horrible. Crazy grading takes points off for ridiculous things. Says things are "common knowledge" but won't actually help. Hands down the worst I've ever had.
I love this teacher. This is not my first class with her and I seek her out. Don't skip class. Do the exercise work. It's a lot of fundamental information in a short period of time. If you do something wrong, of course she will mark your grade down but she only marks off portions of the points. Always willing to help and answer questions.
Horrible. The worst teacher I ever had. I took her class online and she was far from helpful. When emailing her she does not help in any sort of way just gives you someone else to email and told me to 'figure it out". She is no where near helpful, DO NOT take her class online or at all.
Methods: There were (4!) different ways to learn the material. Lectures/Answer Keys/Homework/Book. Most of your grade is given for free through homework. Learn more with less time invested! Math/Science majors & logical thinkers will have no issue. Any points taken off were partial, and legitimate. If you don't enjoy math you may have issues.
I'm terrible at math and my advisor suggested this course. I took it online and because it was a mix of math applications, I did better than expected. Tests had to be taken on campus. Prof Chauhan graded fairly and was responsive when I had questions. I also appreciated that the work was available in advance.
Very knowledgeable about what she is teaching. However, there is quite a communication barrier, partially due to her accent. If I wasn't already familiar with some of the concepts or just naturally gifted at math, I would have struggled more than I did. She was alright for a more basic math course, but would not take her for a more advanced one.
Extremely rushed, cant write, fast good luck taking any good notes. When asked to go over a problem again, she repeats the same process over again rather than explain it differently. She knows her stuff but presents its all wrong. When handing in one of the hundreds of hw assignments, you get no feedback and lots of points docked for nothing.
She does not explain how to do anything. You will be quite literally teaching yourself integrals and derivatives. Good luck...
Excellent professor. Precalculus 1. The class moved VERY quickly, but she always answered questions. That said, there were times I left class with work to do to understand the material. She provides lots of "practice" homework (no grade) as well as graded homework with feedback. She was always available for to help. She graded fairly but strictly.
She is a pretty tough grader. You have to do every tiny detail in a problem her way or she will mark the whole problem wrong. There aren't many test which means that there is a lot of information on each individual test. If you pay attention and are an active participant in class you should do fine.
She is not a good teacher! You have to ask questions even if you are afraid of looking dumb. She assumes you know the background of what is covers and she'll move extremely fast, rather than explain things. She is not the type of teacher to stop and see if anyone is done writing what she had on the board. Take this class if you know the background.
Very nice lady but she moves too quickly during lectures, grades homework for accuracy and loves throwing curveballs on assignments and tests. Around 10 people in the class withdrew, tests are long and difficult and she expects you to know the concepts inside and out. Lots of complaints from classmates over her taking points off for silly reasons.
Probably the worst professor I have ever witnessed. Doesn't care for the students at all and is terrible at explaining anything. It's just a job to her. To continue, lots of homework is handed out at the most inconvenient times and it is expected of you to finish 40 problems withing 24 hours. Half of the problems given aren't what you learned.
I was desperate to get into a MAT161 course and hers had the lowest waitlist so even though I saw the reviews I still took the course. I had to teach myself the entire course which didn't turn out very well for me. If you ask questions in class she will just repeat what she already said, no improved explanation.
Shes extremely hard to deal with , never cooperates with student and simply doesnt care about what she does or her students that are really trying in the class . Does not know how to teach in the proper manner and is very ignorant. She goes hard on the test and grades critically, good luck if you have some technical problems, zero is your grade.
Shes very nice but you do have to teach yourself some of the course.
Do not take this Professor. The coursework itself is not hard, but considering she's probably the worst teacher Ive ever had, the work was hard to understand. Does not explain things well, goes way too fast, when you ask her a question most of the time she completely goes off topic to answer. I wish I would've dropped her when I had the chance.
I took this course last semester and, due to Covid, it was all online. I opted to take this professor's asynchronous class (no set meeting times). I don't recommend this professor at all. The time she allots (2 hrs.) for the tests isn't nearly enough for the amount of work required for her questions - amongst other issues. Trust me - Don't do it
Do. Not. Take. Her. I was in a lecture free class with homework due each week. She makes videos trying to teach the material and the video sound quality is awful, she is hard to understand, and if you turn the test in 5 minutes after the window ends she will either give you a 0 or a warning about taking too long. Take anyone else that you can.
She is the worse professor anyone can ever imagine. She really does not care if you pass the class or not. I am still wondering why Montco still has such a person in the school. She is heartless, inconsiderate and careless about any issues a student may have. DON'T TAKE HER SHE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Horrible professor. She grades very difficult and does a terrible job explaining information. She will completely disregard any student questions and not solve them. She does not help with anything and just does example problems. The tests are impossible and nothing like the homework problems. Please never take her courses.
She was the worst professor I have ever had. Her grading was ridiculous to even the smallest detail could tank your score. The way we had to turn in tests was completely unnecessary and caused viruses on my laptop. The tests were almost never the same as the work. There is so much I can go on about with her. Save yourself do not take her class!
Never take any class given by her! Major typos on 2 unit tests, new material/curveballs on each test, every test review/key had multiple typos. She wants you to fail. Poured my soul into this course and was only able to achieve a B+ which should have easily been an A. I was a 4.0 student! Stay away if you enjoy your sanity. SHE. IS. THE. WORST!!!!!
Do not take this class if you are not already proficient in Precalculus. The tests included questions nothing like what we had seen in lecture/reviews. It was nearly impossible to get through them within the time span based on the difficulty. She is open to communicating with you, but may shut you down if you voice your concerns.
If you get this professor you might as well drop the class entirely. If you are in a depressive state she may drive you to suicide. She does not test you on what you learned. She switches languages in the middle of lectures. She is not communicative and is immensely stubborn. I would genuinely rather hang myself than take this class again.
I'm good at math, so did fine. Test and quizzes have errors. Would email &ask why wrong-she would give me the point bc I was right. Her Lectures helped me learn, but when came time to the tests, I felt lost taking them bc she switched up the way, it needed to be set up. Goes missing day before and of, when work is due. Wont &dont use book-dont buy
I have never felt so defeated in my life. I have tried so hard on this class and when I finally do something up to her impossible standards it's too good and according to her I cheated. I spent 5 hours of sweat and actual tears doing this project and she accused me of cheating. My blood pressure is outrageous dealing with her. DON'T TAKE HER!
She's not helpful at all, her lectures are boring as hell. I do tent to zone out in her class. and their would be times where she would repeat the same nonsense over again saying (is everybody ok?) like no I'm not I'm complete lost. and the way she described Math to many people doesn't make since at all. and I didn't learn nothing at all. Duck her
She's nice but not good at teaching as of now I have a A in her class now mostly not helpful would mostly tell the class "if everyones okay" In my mind "No I'm not" hard to understand what's she's saying at all but make sure to focus if you fail the first test just drop her.
No. Do. Not. Take. This. Professor. She doesn't even know what's she's teaching also it's difficult to understand on what she's saying after the second test I took fail it again but had so many errors on it and I had to withdraw from her class she makes pre calculus so hard it was stressful overall not great!!!
Took her but made a big mistake taking her everyone in the class is struggling except for a few including me her lectures are so confusing to the point where lots of people would not pay attention to it or would leave the classroom she's not even helpful to students at all she accused someone cheating on the test avoid her.
She's by far the worst professor I've ever have actually would never response to any of my emails would always give me the worst feedback on assignments and the way how I have to turn in my test is the worse. Avoid her at all and she will make the problems hard and it'll be impossible to get a B or above in her class.
What a semester with her she blows.
MAT161 Precalculus had to drop her class for one reason the reason why cause all her notes and assignments aren't that hard but her test are so heavy even the smallest mistake you make on either test homework assignments she will take points off she's heavy on grading and mainly exams questions arent even the same on the note she does.
Taking Prof. Chauhan is a complete NIGHTMARE for Precalc I it should not be hard at all but all of her exams are really tough and is also a tough grader to determine she wants everything to be her way if not points off she moves way to fast and will not answer questions about problem set good thing about her she does respond to emails.
Worst Precalculus professor ever she was the only option available I tried to register for Roche unfortunately he was full so she was the only option her lectures aren't the same on exams and her teaching is just not it she wants everything to be the same if not points off doesn't matter if you do it good she will take points off barely passing.
DO NOT THIS HER AT ALL!! Where do I begin with Prof. Chauhan she goes way too fast does not even dare to stop and ask questions and if you try to correct her she will humiliated you in front of the class her exams arent even the same on lectures and she is one tough grader one simple mistake will tank your score and I had to self teach as well.
Don't let her be your professor if you aren't an A+ math student. She grades tests/ projects very harshly despite showing work, and gives 2-5 lessons a week with 15-30 questions each. The projects are vague and instructions are unclear. She made the only extra credit opportunity due at 11:59AM while everything else in the course was due 11:59PM
So hard to know where to start with her...she teaches at breakneck pace and there was many complaints of people being unable to keep up with her, which coupled with her accent made learning a very steep uphill battle if you're not already mathematically inclined, had to drop the course pretty quickly since i couldn't keep up stay away if you can
If you want a million questions about math due in less than 30 seconds, go for it. Ridiculous amount of work at a time.
