She's pretty upbeat but very feminist. She is proned to over- sharing... it's sometimes scary. Overall her class was alright- at least you'll learn to write an arguable thesis.. or die trying.

Great Teacher!!!! Makes learning English fun. Lots of reading and writing, wants you to pay attention to detail. Gets the students involved and has them work together in doubles or groups. She is passionate about her work and she is always available.

well, the assignments are easy, so are the quizzes, but the essays, o the essays, only 3, but grades VERY tough on them. She makes it seem easy in the way she grades homework, then the essays are graded hard as hell. 2 4 page essays and 1 5 pager, thats all.

She is the best English teacher I have had. She really uses her psychology in teaching the class (and I mean that in a good way) by making English a very active process. Her personality is very appealing and kind. The class is the funnest of the general ed that I have taken. I really recommend taking her course.

As an English Major she is probably the best English teacher I have had here at Mesa. She loves her students and is very passionate about what she does. Wonderful prof! She makes class fun and enjoyable to go to! The time flew by and at night you need a teacher like her. You can tell she really cares about her students and teaching is her passion. Nancee is one of the top English professors I have had. She makes you write a lot, but the writing assignments are not hard if you are interested in English and reading. Love the class and thought she was so much fun to talk with out of class. She's a real person, but she expects her students to be up to college level. GREAT TEACHER*

Very hard to believe anyone found her rude or arrogant--she was the most open and respectful professor I've had at Mesa. She's down to earth and funny, very helpful, very generous with her time, and loves her profession! I think disgruntled students think this site is a dumping ground. Too bad--she's a truly awesome teacher.

EXCELLENT teacher. Lots of work, challenging class. She's got great humor, very intelligent, well-informed, Passionate about teaching. I would say that this class is for students who care about deep education & not just meeting requirements. She has high expectations & wants students to learn not just pass. Fantastic teacher, exceptional class. Some of the readings in the class weren't great, but she connected things in lecture to make all the literature worthwhile and relevant. Loved her class. I am taking the first part of Amer. Lit. with her also because she's fair and always in good mood, plus very intelligent.

outspoken lady who has great opinions, stirs up questions that make you think deeper. gives out a bunch of useless reading material. textbook is pretty boring and you gotta read a lot of that. has no set schedule, so you don't know when quizes/essays are. 1-pg notes for quizes. quizes/essays usually announced no more than one week from due date

The woman kicks ass. She is so funny. I you not. It's the truth and I dont care what anybody else says. It's awesome that she had me laughing out loud throughout her lectures. There is ALOT of reading material. You learn about current issues and how to brush up on english skills. She lets you have one page of notes for quizzes.

She is a great and down to earth teacher but you have to prepare yourself for ALOT of writing. What is really cool about Kesinger is that she allows you to do Min. of 50 points extra credit which is huge in her class. One thing I didnt like is that it took her awhile to give back our papers so you never really knew where you stood in the class.

Nancee is a great professor...Very down to Earth and makes you consider things deeper than how they appear...I loved talking about current events and how everyone could voice their opinions...She does give out alot of handouts, not all useless...And there is alot of reading and writing from the book and the handouts...But it's not hard!

good class, good teacher. i like her style of teaching it was very helpful and entertaining. she will help you if you need and or ask for help. her class isn't hard but its a lot of reading.

This is my favorite class I have taken so far in 2 years and she was the best teacher I've had. If you like English and writing and you are serious about it this class is amazing. To get a good grade just show up for class and put in effort on the papers and read all the assignments.

Nancee was THE most awesome English teacher I've ever had. I loved her class. It was fun and kept me interested. She had us very involved with partner and group activity, and she made learning very interesting. I never saw her get upset, and she's quite a funny person too.

She is a great teacher! As long as you turn in the assignments you are pretty much good for a good grade. She is understanding and very organized. The only one bad thing is she missed some classes but other than that she is awesome.

Easy A if your interested in doing English homework ALL the time! Read Enrique's Journey, pretty interesting! She got creative with quizzes, which made the class more fun. I got an A, and didnt really try. Good teacher overall, would take again if I needed too.

She is nice but the class is very scattered. You don't really have an opinion and she gives grammar reviews in the middle of the semester. An easy class, but if you want a challenge do not take this class. She will tell you how to write your paper and what topic to write it on. There is extra credit though!

Very creative, I really enjoyed reading Enriques Journey. She doesnt have high standards, we hardly used the text book. Always doing group activities. Overall a really Fun & Exciting Teacher.

This class is very overwhelming and a lot of work but she is a very nice professor and very helpful. Do not miss a class and you do learn a lot. Quizzes are very hard. Also you write a lot of papers. She gives out so many handouts to, I had a whole binder full of handouts.

She was an ok teacher. Very opinionated. The class was pretty easy as long as you made an honest effort in writing. Two things I would recommend: buy a binder and a hole puncher because she hands out alot of handouts. I think I finished the semester with an inche or more of handouts. She will refer back to those handouts throughout the semester.

Excellent teacher. LOTS of handouts, which will be on tests, but minimal text reading. Assignments are many, but rarely over a page or 2 long. She def. has her opinions, but readily accepts others. Grades fair and gives helpful, meaningful feedback. The class is paced well, she hands out a calender of all the assignments for the sem. Recommended.

one thing i was worried about was if there was goin to be alota writing, which i found out there wasn't. just one paper due a week, which could either be one paragraph or about a page, which isn't bad at all. There's 2 "cycles" due the whole semester and they're supposed to be 5 pages, that's the hardest part.also, her exams are suuper hard.

She gives a lot of extra credits(%14 from grade). her exam are hard,but she prepares for the exam. i suppose to have have an A right now, but that is because i did not work harder. She let me to revise my papers couples of time.Study all her handout, and work with a tutor a bit, u will absolutely gain an A+. 4 quarter exams 2 were with partner.

There are a lot of handouts which you should study for tests. But she is very clear, and nice. I learned a lot. We studied Myth during semester. Tests were difficult, but don't miss class, and do homework on time. Then you will be fine.

Some raters are haters. People say she's great b/c she is great. My friends and me will take any class we can with her. She is passionate and wants everyone to get involved, she won't take slacking, so follow instructions or get no comments or credit. It's college and not for complainers. Awesome teacher.

She's funny and sassy, tries to keep the class lively. Real strict about no late papers, no makeups, even when you're sick, so plan to work, work, work. She's organized and helps a lot if you try hard but you'll be writing and reading all the time to make it, with tons of handouts. Fair grader and loves her students.

This lady was born to teach. she has enthusiasm and comes always in good mood. I learned more to help my writing in her reading class then in my Engl 49 class which was too boring. I love her way of discussing with all the students and fun class.

One of my favorite teachers, hilarious and helpful. Her expectations are at a college level, so if you are looking to skate through with very little writing then don't take her. However, her assignments are easy and you can have notes for your tests. Plus, the subject matter is really interesting. Highly recommended!

really good teacher but be ready to work! almost a paper due every class even though they are pretty easy. She does grade pretty hard and you NEED to go to every class or you wont do very well on tests. Also her tests ask questions about little things that are hard to remember.

Nancee is an amazing professor! She really values the importance of teaching her students what critical thinking is and applying it to not only english but EVERYTHING! Only downfall is there are plenty of assignments due every class and handouts are VERY wordy. Have to be ready to work!!

Excellent professor. This is definitely a college level class so be prepared to work and don't get behind on the reading. Her handouts are pretty wordy but she explains everything and you will leave class ready for 211 and future English courses. Take Nancee's classes-you won't regret it!

Loved having this teacher. She definitely made the class fun and achievable to get an A. Shes a very laid back. She openly cusses which makes the classroom a more chill. Barely did any essays. Only homework was reading and vocab definitions. As long as you do the little homework she gives you, you should have no problem getting an A in this class.

As long as you show up for class and you're ready to work, the class is a piece of cake. The only book you need is a dictionary, which generally costs less than ten bucks. There aren't any essays, just quizzes. There's lots of chances to get extra credit. Easy class, easy A.

Her class taught me more than any other class I've ever had and it has applied to every aspect of my life. She expects a lot from her students but her expectations have drastically improved my writing and thinking. She passes out lengthy handouts and assignments almost every class but if you want to learn, you won't regret taking this class.

She involves you in every class without making you feel spotlighted. There were 2 big papers with assignments related to these throughout the semester. There were a lot of assignments but they aren't super time consuming. Great class. She makes it sound crazy in the beginning with the 4 page handouts and homework every class but it gets smoother.

She's a force of nature, in a good way. Really knows the literature and history of every period. Wicked funny, intense, brainy but not overwhelming and tries to keep the class always interesting and interactive. She can be pretty strict on assignments but its worth all reading and efforts b/c she really cares if you learn.

Nancee is amazing. She gets students to think outside the self-centered world. She's hilarious, treats you like an adult, very engaging and you actually want to come to her classes. To get an A you need to work, but it's one of the best classes I've had to date.

This professor class is challenging and great. People who do not put in much effort in her papers will not make it. In order to receive an A in the class you must do the following: Show up, do the readings and turn in all the assignments. Remember you gotta catch 'em all, pokemon!

If you take English 48 with professor kesinger, she is super chill and very easy! all you have to do is buy $7 dictionary and bring it to class, do the easy reading, and always attend class. The only thing that sucks is the final can screw over your A if you don't know what year coke was invented or things of that nature.

She taught me that the dictionary wasn't just for word spelling. Now I try not to jump oveer words bc I know the dictionary can help me build my knowledge more. We did activities in groups for points and she wanted us to play with words and ideas. There was lots of writing for a class called college reading but readings were fun and interesting.

I had Nancee for Spring of 2014 but I can still say she was absolutely awesome! Plan on reading everything she gives you. I reread everything at least twice. All her quizes/tests can be aced with the reading. She's strict at first but she is actually really cool. She's been at Mesa for 25+ years! Definitely try to take her before she retires.

Best teacher I've ever had. Hilarious and incredibly smart. I learned more from her class alone than all of my other classes at Mesa put together. Couldn't have asked for a better teacher! Her lectures are super interesting and are related to real life/current issues. Everything she talks about in class is fair game on the exams (don't skip clas). She's funny and really honest. Professor Nancee is really funny and makes class interesting, be ready to read a lot of handouts and not lose a single sheet of paper because you will need every single thing that you read or hear in class for the exams, she allows notes but be very detailed and specific when taking notes in class, not an easy class but at least it's not boring

Such a great teacher. She actually picks interesting and relevant topics to go over! She does lecture, but she is funny and keeps it real. You have to go to class and put in effort, but she makes you want to show up. She has a great teaching style. As long as you are there and trying its an easy class.

Kesinger has to be the best engl 47 teacher in Mesa College. Expectations aren't high. Attendance is mandatory since she passes out a lot of hand outs, a couple of writing assignments, quizzes and around 2 test through the semester. Final exam was a written essay.

Nancee is a one of a kind professor. While her class does require a fair amount of time to be dedicated to it, the things you will learn transcend much further then the four walls of her classroom. Her lessons are meticulously crafted to capture the classroom and have helped me better understand the world we live in. Make sure you take her class.

Definitely my most memorable Mesa class. I transferred to UC Irvine last year and this class was for sure the most valuable to me at 4-yr. We also read her book Don't Get It Twisted in my class,both in class and in her book she has a way of breaking down important things about writing and thinking. Love her heart and intensity, so real. I forgot to rate Nancee, I took her Course I believe in 2017 and her class is a lot of work to be honest but it is all worth it! I learned so much and I actually enjoyed English class! The homework and papers were always on interesting topics I wouldn't mind or complain about like other boring classes. If you ask for help she will gladly help!

Beware because she gives amazing lectures but tons of homework! It was really hard juggling her class because it was assignments, on top of reading, on of papers! It was an insane amount of work which makes sense, it'll be your last English class unless you're an English major. She means well and is very inspirational! Take if you enjoy writing!
