Really great historian. She is challenging & will make you just love History
This instructor is so easy! I never made less than an a on anything. Sometimes it seems she doesn't know what she is talking about, but just go with it and you will most def get an A!
I took her for Western Civ 1 and 2, and made A's in both classes. She's really easy once you learn that if you write everything she says, and study it, you'll pass! Ask lots of questions to make the time go by, and she'll love you!
I had her for His 121. You take a lot of notes, but she's very good about emphasizing what will be on the exam. She'll even proof your out of class essays if you give them to her ahead of time. Overall a very helpful professor. Ask questions too!
I took her for Western Civ and American History, she is great professor. You'll take a lot of notes but her exams are all essays and are based on the notes. If you study your notes you'll leave her course with an "A". I def recommend taking any of her courses.
she is a real stickler for absensences if you dont show up she won't be afraid to drop your ass from the class really quick and excuses dont work, plus the essays are a pain but i never made anything below a 95 on her tests
She gives all oral notes, which you have to write down almost word for word, but that is the easiest way to get an A in the class. Your hand will hurt from writing, but it's worth it. I have learned alot from her classes.

you'll take a lot of notes..but its worth it, she gives you "study guides" every class after notes, so just write down what she says and study it..really interesting class.
Go to class do you work and you will surley make an A!! Once you get to know her she is one of the nicest teachers! She is willing to work with the students! I loved her!
She is an excellent teacher. She teaches history in the form of stories which makes it easier to remember. You will take alot of notes in her class, but it helps you to remember the data. She is one of the best history teachers I have ever had!!!!
if you take her class (which you should) be sure to ask for a study guide. it makes class soo much easier
If u take this class be prepared to write with 2 hands at the same time this teacher talks 100/min.Its hard to keep up with her.
She talks about things that are not on the test. She talks very fast. it is hard to keep up with her. she is very knowledgable.
Nancey Moore for PRESIDENT!! She could tell me just about anything and I would not argue. Never question the truth that Ms.Moore speaks...
I enjoyed Ms. Moore's class. Buy a tape recorder - you'll need it. She is very serious about her class - don't disrupt it. Memorize everything and be willing to write it all back out on tests. If she doesn't say it - it will not be on the tests. Recommended.
Good Teacher, Allways Helps if you, but be prepared to write ALOT, she can lectures like crazy!!! Mostly all the information given is not on the exam. Never uses the text book!! BUY A TAPE RECORDER. It is so hard to keep up with her because she talk so fast. If you cant right super fast 100+ words a min you should NOT! take her class at all!
Excellent teacher.
mrs. moore is a great professor. you do have to write a lot but you get used to it. you need to study for her tests for sure. write down all study guides given. the tests come straight from the notes. if you have a laptop and you type faster then you write you should defintely type your notes. you will definetly enjoy her class.
I was interested in American History until I took her class. She teaches hardly anything out of the textbook, which wouln't be so bad if her lectures weren't so disorganized and confusing. You don't know if you're coming or going or what period she's talking about. She basically justs sits at her desk and spits an abundance of information at you
get to know her
Never again shall I take that class!
One of the best professors i have ever had. i hated history prior to taking her class and i actually learned a lot from her. she sits at her desk and tells you history like it's a story. You just gotta be able to write down everything she says. she's always willing to stop and answer questions tho.
Nancy Moore was a splendid teacher, I just finished up was sad to have to leave! She's a fun person, kind and helpful. She tells history like a story so it comes alive. She is strict about attendence and talks quite fast, but if you're eager to learn you can do quite well. Thankyou, Ms. Moore, for openning my eyes to history with your teaching!
Don't take her class unless you want to study your butt off for a survey class, she talks very fast and picks favorites. My class had a 50% drop rate...
Wow, never have a worked so hard for an A. She really expects a lot from her students so if you aren't prepared to deliver don't take her class. Extensive essay testing only. I feel like I learned a lot and accomplished something but it was VERY HARD.
Its not that she is that hard I just think her grading shows favoritism. The test are all essay. If you can avoid her class do it.
BORING! All she does is read from the book the ENTIRE class time! You will just sit in there and listen to her MONOTONE voice! It is almost impossible to sit through her class without sleeping! She has no enthusiasm and should definately retire! Absenses are unclear on sylabus and tests are strictly essay & she grades them WAY TOO HARD! WORST!
If you work hard you will get an A. Gives extra credit, the book is useless, learn your notes. OK teacher.
Great history teacher. I drove to the main campus just to take her class. The book was only used twice for special inclass papers. Her lectures are from her notes so don't miss a class. She will get with you after class if you ask. Knows her stuff. She can go through the entire class without looking at her notes! Her essay tests are easy.
am just speechless! in a very bad way
You need a computer to survive this class. Shes a great for 200s history level- i took Russian History with her- amazing. Knew her sources/dates/etc. You have to work hard but if you enjoy history you'll love this class.
She was overall a good teacher. Don't even bother buying the book because it wont really be of any use. The lecture notes are extensive. If there is a minute that you are not writing while she is talking, you better have a good damn reason. She is very knowledgeable in American history, able to answer any question about it, related or not.
I took her class in the Summer of '07. After continuing my study of American history at another institution, I come to discover that she presents false and often questionable interpretations of history. Example: you learn that Lincoln owned slaves. Also, she will vilify most American presidents without recognizing difficult circumstances.
you have to be in class, and be prepared to write! your notes will be what gets you by in her class. the book was only minimally useful. she is very knowledgable.
Very little work outside of class. Just show up, and pay attention cram a few hours before the test and you'll get a B at least.
What! I don't know what all these people were thinking. Teaching is not for her, she is not a people person. Testing is ALL essay, nothing else. She grades way to hard and she can be very rude. Note taking is way to much (your hand WILL fall off) and you better show up ON time. She shouldn't be teaching...it's not for her.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. She treats the students like elementary school children. She is smug and arrogant, teaches the class sitting at her desk. The class consists of her talking and you writing, boring. Plays favorites. Gives false information. Doesn't care about your grade, often no reason why points taken off of tests.
Don't slack off, show up to every class, write down everything and study them, and you'll do fine. If you play by her rules, she can be very awesome -- I failed every single test in her class but showed up and participated a lot and she passed me with a C. Just don't screw around or be lazy, it's not that hard.
Constantly says that the book is wrong but gives no reason why
not good
really thorough teacher. will teach you everything you need to know and tests are straight from notes. write down everything she says, study, and you'll be fine. didn'e open my book one time and got A. save your money :)
She's hard but if you take notes and actually LISTEN to her, then you'll do fine. She acts like a hardass but when it comes down to it, she's pretty nice and a great teacher. But you have to EARN your grade. And you have to put the work into it. It's not high school so get with the program. You get the grade you deserve in her class.
One of the hardest instructors you'll have, also the best. You will be pushed, your cage rattled, its her job and she likes it, but you WILL learn. I left the class MUCH WISER. Looking for an easy ride? Don't. She'll skewer you. Serious students only, but you WONT regret it. Serious about history but hate 'dates'? This class is for you.NOTES=GOSPEL
I really do like Ms. Moore a lot. She is happy to answer any questions, or repeat something for you. She follows Wake Tech's rules, so show up on time and don't miss a lot of days. If you show her respect, then she will show you respect. Hardly any class/home work. Just show up, sit, and listen. Very helpful woman. I've taken her 4 times.
The reason I am contemplating History as a major. Fair warning: She does not take crap from anyone. NOT an easy A. You are expected to show up, take notes, listen, and ask questions. Do so, and you will be fine - Don't and expect nothing more than an F. Three tests, a paper, and done.
Ms/Mrs. Moore was a pretty harsh teacher. While not directly rude to me(aside from a few times of me talking), she doesn't play games or accept any BS from ANYONE. She had a bit of a row with a student in class. The class itself is hard because all she does is lecture and YOU MUST TAKE NOTES if you desire to pass. Textbook is useless.
She is very no nonsense, do not show up late for her class ever. All she does is lecture, so write down every thing she says or get a recorder. She does use the book for tests so read it when studying, but focus on the notes. She likes students who participate in class. She's not an easy teacher, but I like her lectures.
She gives study guides after every chapter, memorize EVERYTHING you know about that stuff and you're good. She's all about detail on tests, which are completely essay. So just know you stuff pretty well and you'll get the grade you deserve.
I love that little history munchkin! Always have; always will. She can seem a little intimidating at first, but really a very nice woman. If I wasn't half her age, I would definitely try to be one of her best friends. Get to know her. She's my favorite.
Not really as hard as most people on here make her out to be; however, she is very frank about what she expects. Do what she says and you'll be fine. Very knowledgeable. Lecture based class, textbook not really necessary. Follow the rules outlined in the syllabus and take advantage of her looking over your paper drafts, and you'll be fine.
I love this teacher! She is frank about what she expects and demands respect, but really knows her stuff and is willing to answer any questions. You must go to class and take good notes in order to do well, her tests are all essay, but don't abbreviate, she'll dock points. She's an easy grader for the oral presentation though. You will learn a lot!
Mrs. Moore really is a fantastic teacher. She knows her stuff better than I know the back of my hand. I had her for American history 1 and she was all over it. Take her as a teacher if available. You will need the book for a few in class papers.
Extremely strict and even nasty at times. She just loves to listen to herself talk. Imagine some of your strictest middle school teachers and you'll understand how she teaches.
I wouldn't suggest her for someone who is visual. I had a difficult time because she doesnt have notes....she just talks the whole time, and she's not very interesting to listen to. Being absent is not an option since there are no notes. She's not terrible, but she's not the best teacher.
I love mythology. Been trying to get into this class for 3 semesters. But this teacher ruined it for me. She knows the material and has it well organized, but she makes it so boring!! She doesnt use blackboard, and if you go to her for help, she couldnt care less. Essays on tests need high levels of abstract thinking. Strict on conduct rules.
The class is based purely on her lectures, and she uses absolutely power-points, and she doesn't like people sharing notes. If you're a hard-working student, she'll like you, and things should go smoothly for you. If you have trouble following spoken lectures without p.points, definitely avoid her.
Avoid this teacher at all costs. Claims the book is always wrong, very strict, monotone voice. Lot's of notes and tests are all essay based, Quizzes aren't on any of the lectures or notes. Makes me hate history
Going into her American History class I hated history. I saw no relevance. Mrs. Moore is probably the best history teacher I've had because she loves history and it's stories! She doesn't take crap! But if you pay attention and don't JUST copy down the powerpoints you'll be fine! I've learned so much and I actually kind of like history now.
I love this professor. Before I took her class I could have cared less about US history. However, she taught it so well I came back for a 2nd round. Take lots of notes and study them and you will do great. Also, she is no nonesense with classroom etiquetteso dont have to worry about people disrupting class. Love her.
Before entering this class I enjoyed history but didnt really know a lot about our country due to the fact that I had only taken one other history class in high school years ago. She is very strict when it comes to manners but for those who have been brought up to respect those around you this should be easy for you. Very interesting class!
great teacher. very knowledgeable. essay tests let you show everything you know rather than testing a few small details.
Ms. Moore expects you to keep up. She tries to use Power Point, but misses the mark.. just keep your head down, close your eyes and write what she says. **CLASS TIPS** Don't be late to class, don't talk during class, speak up and raise your hand, and say good morning when she walks in the room. She seems to appreciate that.
Where do I start? I filled an entire 90-sheet notebook front and back last semester taking in-class notes. She knows a lot about history, and I love the subject, but its TOO much info to take in at a time. Her tests are only 25Q with 1 essay Q so its very easy to fail. You don't need the book, entire class is based off her lectures. Listen or fail.
If you don't ask questions, you're going to have a bad time.
Knows a lot about history. Will make you guess during lecture of what the right answer is when you have not even studied that person or event yet. You need to take notes or at least be present to listen to the lecture because outside reading is not needed. Tests are short and easy to fail, and she gets grumpy if you do not ask enough dumb questions
Tests are very hard. They are multiple choice but there are only around 25-30 Q's which can easily make you get a low grade. She really concentrated on election dates which is what got me most of the time. Show up to class on time. Ask lots of questions.
Did not use textbook at all, lectures were hard to follow and inconsistent with what was on the test
She assigns a 2 page paper and she will proof read it over and over until you have to present it. The tests including the final is 34 question. She gives extra credit. The final has 3 cumulative questions. All you have to do is record her or take notes in class. I have taken her twice; made 75-80 on all exams and I passed with a B both times.
A lot of her history lectures are not factual. She is condescending and mentally abusive to her classes. Her tests have no review, no outline. The first test class average was a 70. There is the standard oral report and essay paper.I dropped her class on the last day. I returned to take the class with a different professor and passed with an “A”.
Very rude to students. Snapped my ankle in an accident and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance, so I missed class one day. Came in the next with a note and she tore it up in front of me and told me that my absence was still unexcused.
She is extremely rude to students. Her criteria isn't rational or consistent, and she frankly doesn't know the subject very well. She gives misinformation. Will give you terrible grades for no apparent reasons on assignments done correctly. Her test and quiz questions are worded terribly and aren't based off the textbook. All lectures are the same.
She only gives lectures and constantly disregards what is actually in the book. She gives you her version of history with nothing to back it up. The test are difficult because studying is almost impossible. In class you are basically expected to write down everything she says and guess what's going to show up on the exams.
She consistantly disregards the material in the book, giving you her own version of history, which makes studying for her 34 question tests very difficult. She has no PowerPoint to speak of, barely uses the book and she focuses too heavily on election dates rather than being well rounded. Better take stellar notes to pass.
As an instructor myself, I found her to be the worst I have ever encountered and I have been working with professional instructors for years. No class interaction at all, except for graded discussion board conversations. Does not follow syllabus. Horrible to ask ? to, horrible response times. Take test early they disappear she cares not.
She teaches with just lectures and slides with just a couple of words on them (just use them for spelling). Make sure you participate, because this weighs highly on your final grade. The tests are tough and she doesn't provide study guides. Assume everything and anything she says in class will be on the test. Recording the lectures is helpful.
Her class is challenging. There are only 4 tests including the final so you have to work hard at the very beginning to get to where you would like to be.
My pen never stopped writing during the entirety that I was in her class. Everything that comes out of her mouth you should expect to be on the test. If you don't take notes, expect to fail. She will test you on small details and many dates. Deep down, she's actually a kind old lady that has a motherly side, but she hides it very well.
Horrible teacher! Do NOT take her class! She is a REALLY tough grader and there are only 2 test and the final exam. There are 2 group projects. She is also rude to the students
Mrs. Moore tends to go "off the cuff" and rambles on about material that is often not necessarily related to the subject at hand. If she's not rambling she is often times lecturing on information that is seemingly disingenuous. It's almost as if she has her own records for history and how things happened. Dates in class are virtually nonexistent
Professor Moore is one of the most interesting people I have met at Wake Tech. People always give her crap 'cause she is tough and might come off as mean. But in all realness she is down to earth. At first i thought she was rude as well but you just gotta get to know her and let her see you are a good person, 'cause she is to. Love her class.
Professor Moore, she replies fairly quick to emails, but NEVER answer the questions all she does is copy and paste her original "confusing" instructions. Never again!!!!
Above A average on tests and quizzes. Below B overall, and that's with doing the homework. I can appreciate tough grading, but you're going to lose points on homework for the most anal reasons with very little to no feedback on why. And it's going to matter. Way too intense for a freshman level humanities class.
Seems scary at first but you'll grow with the class learn to really like it. there was one presentation that wasn't so bad. she gives a few extra credit opportunities, mostly lectures and you leave. not many assignments. overall a pretty good class and good professor. the study guides are literally just vocab words you have to search meaning on own
Ms. Moore is an amazing teacher! She is so passionate about history and I really enjoyed going to her class and listening to her lectures. Yes you have to study a good amount of notes, but Ms. Moore is worth it :) She will work with you and cares if she knows you are trying.
Although Professor Moore knew what she was talking about, she is unable to relay the information to her students. It is a constant lecture and you never have a chance to pick up your pencil. You will have pages of notes but then have a test that has only 30 questions on it. She has very seldom assignments, if you do bad on the tests, you fail!
If you do take her class, make sure you show up for class, write down everything she says, and study your ass off. That's the only way you'll pass.
The only way you will pass is by writing down everything she says. Information in her PowerPoint slides is scarce. Tests are 34 multiple choice questions and a big chunk of grade. Participation matters. Oral presentation has to be at least 5 min long. She is one of the toughest professors I've had.
If you don't show up and take notes on everything she says you will fail. There is very little hw to do so test and the oral presentation are keys if you want to pass. She knows what she's talking about but doesn't know how to teach it, let alone how to make the class interesting. PICK SOMEONE ELSE FOR THIS CLASS.
Great teacher, would take her again as a professor for another course if she was an option. Minimal HW. She allows multiple attempts on quizzes. Quiz answers can later be viewed for studying. (Some prof. don't allow). Do the reading and you'll be just fine. Easy A.
Professor Moore was not available over breaks, even though she would assign 1-2 units of work anyway. She gives us 'powerpoints' to look over, but information is minimal at best, which is not good for an online class. While the quizzes are easy and can be viewed later, she is very tough on written assignments. Would not take her again.
Moor is lecture-heavy. If you like reading for class not the class for you; we never open the book. She had 2 projects a group with essay and a speech which you just need points not essay for. Make sure to take not's and answer questions in class they are on the test. No outside homework. Unless she canceled class then you will have an essay.
I really did not enjoy taking professor Moore's online class unfortunately. Every week we had the same dull assignment. It was just the quiz on the chapter we read. There were only three assignments that weren't chapter quizzes. No creative lesson planning or assignments at all. And the tests are so difficult, did so much studying.
