Very unwilling to help! Cares more about herself than her students.
Attractive older woman, stubborn and opinionated. Not a small-campus professor, but still worth taking.
Makes no effort to get to know you, making her appear to be bitter. Interesting lectures and an easy class overall.
self absorbed.
Expect to work hard...
Don't believe the hype. You really don't need to go to everyday. Just go at least once a week, and at least 2 days before a test. Other than that, just read the book and do the studyguide. A walk in the park

Dr. Woods is passionate about her field, and coupled with her knowledge of the subject matter it makes for an interesting class. You don't want to miss a day!!
Great instructor. The tests aren't very easy, but they're not horrible if you just read the material. Explains everything so you can understand it, and if you need help, she's more than willing.
learned alot, but not a very personable professor
so easy...i didn't go for the last month or two and aced the class. can't know everyone because she has hundreds of students. very intelligent and brings a lot to the lectures.
this woman is amazing. skipping class is tempting but it really is a crime. she knows her material and knows how to explain it, and i love her energy that she brings to the class every day. very interesting!
Knows her stuff. You MUST do the study guides in order to get a decent grade on tests. No attendance policy. She'll warn you that she doesn't remember names, so she may appear cold toward students, but if you ask her for help, she'll be glad to give it. Excellent professor
HARD TEST, SO THE STUDY GUIDES
VERY EASY. I only showed to class 7 times during the semester and so far am making a B. Since there is no attendence policy, I can do other work instead of sitting in class. As long as you remember to get the study guides, there is no reason you couldn't get a good grade in her course.
Incredible prof. If you want to learn more than what is in the textbook, take Dr. N Woods!
Hard exams, study the guides! Awesome teacher, very personable. Interesting stories (although it seems a lot of her life takes place in church). Wonderful to talk to and a joy to have as a professor.
Tough, but fair. I love the fact that she tells non trads that they are wrong when they think they are right just because they have kids. She's brash like that!! :)
Got an A. Does not insult your intelligence by asking low level test questions. She is passionate about what she teaches and I love her!
She has no attendance policy and posts study guides online. My worst test grade was after attending class every time. I never went to another class cept 4 tests and got an easy A just from reading the chapters and typing out the answers to the study guide. Also similar test questions are online at the textbook site. Got an "A" and saved time.
By far my favorite class that I took, and I had to WORK in there. Take her if you can!
BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD!!!!
She is the best professor I have ever had! She is extremely intelligent, and she is also a very good teacher. She teaches things and they stick! She is funny, and down-to-earth, and she is not afraid to disagree with opinionated non-trads. She was and still is my favorite professor. Take her class if you get a chance! And don't skip, because she is a true goldmine of information!
No Good, Stay far away from!
Dr. Woods is so awesome. I wish I could be her.
She is very animated, and a really good teacher. She knows her stuff. Outside of the classroom though, she is lacking in people skills. She can be very rude, and goes out of her way to make you feel unimportant. She needs to realize that just because she has Dr. in front of her name doesn't make her better, and we are the ones paying here salary
tough class! Tests were outrageous....she knows her stuff though and she teaches at a really interesting pace.....her tests just blew me away!!!
Great teacher!!! I wish I'd have taken her before taking PLT!!
Dr. Woods is an extremely intelligent woman-had I gone to lectures more-I would've nailed an A in her class-the only thing about her is she cares less if you attend her class & she doesn't care to know who you are-Anyway-go to class-do the study guides-read between the lines on her exams & u should be ok-PS..she's your best shot-avoid Nicodemus!!!
I had Dr. Woods for Adolescent Development. The class was extremely informative. You could tell that she knew her stuff inside and out, forwards and backwards. The tests were difficult. In the end, I was about three points shy of an A, but this was one of the best classes that I took!
She is a good prof. She knows her stuff. She acts kind of snobby though. Her tests are extremely hard!!Any of the answers could be right but you have to pick out the best one.She will help you if you ask.Dont even try to cheat on the test either because she is a Nazi about cheating! She gives you a cover sheet so you can cover up your test.
Dr. Woods is full of energy and expresses it in every lecture. She has a wealth of knowledge to share, but do not miss a class because there is always something to learn and something you will be tested on. I did not think she was hard, but you must study. She gives a study guide, so use it. A great professor with a surplus of good information.
Dr. Woods was awesome, you don'thave to actually attend class to do well as long as you do your study guides, but she's interesting so it makes going to class fun.
Dr. Woods is a hoot! She is EXTREMELY intelligent and knows her stuff! I got a LOT out of her class! Gave great insight on Adolescent Development and what it's really like. Her study guides are great-do them and you'll do fine on the tests. Attendance isn't a big deal, but go to class cause you'll get a lot out of it. She's a great professor!
For a Psy. Professor, she ought to be more open and friendly towards her students....not being good with names is a sorry excuse to be so snooty.......her lectures are great and she is very intelligent...it just put a bad taste in my mouth as to how she feels towards her students....oh yeah...very opinionated on her exams....what out!
she gives u review sheets so u know what u have to know for the test. they have a lot of questions though. she's a good professor and doesn't take attendance. she does put things on the test that u wouldn't know unless u go to class. tests are fairly simple though but u do have to understand the stuff to do well.
Dr. Woods knows her stuff!!! Her tests are somewhat difficult, so read the chapters AND do her study guide...you should do just fine! You will walk away from this class with a world of knowledge!
You have got to read the entire book. Subject is interesting, test are easy to get an A if you read the whole two chapters carefully; however, the professor will not know your name or even move a finger to help you. Don't bother to go to class, read and re-read the chapters, and forget about the teacher. Just show up for the test. You will not have
Show up every day take good notes, read and then re-read the chapters do all of her study guides, then read the chapters again you get the idea. She is a fair teacher but you really have to work and study for your grade.
She's not too hard, but she couldn't care less about her students.
All Psy and Nursing majors, Dr. N. Woods is awesome! I honestly wish everyone in the US had to take this class. If you do her study guides and go to class, there's so much you can take away from from it. It's not hard to make an A in if you read the material and understand the concept, not just be able to give back a definition. Highly recommend
She loves what she does. You dont have to come to class, but you pretty much have to if you want a good grade. She uses power point, and study guide. You have to study for a good grade but its not like impossible.
She is as passionate and energetic in Career Planning as she is in her lecture courses. She really cares about educating students about the REALITIES of career planning and graduate school. She's honest and has the students' best interest at heart. Very straight forward and gives you everything you need to succeed in her class.
She makes this class a breeze!
I took the lifespan psychology and she made lectures so interesting. She had lots of energy and kept my interest. Tests are hard but do the questions at the end of the chapters, they help b/c the wording of the questions is what is tricky. I loved learning from her. You only get 3 extra credit points.
She doesn't care about her students. She is the most arrogant professor I have ever met. How she ever got a job at the University level is beyond me! She needs to remember where she came from in life and if it weren't for the students she wouldn't have a job.
developmental psychology. She was very interesting in class and explained things with a passion which made class not boring.
She's a great professor! The class itself is difficult though, but she helps you understand it. Test grades are all that counts. She does give extra credit opportunties, but the max you can get is 3 points to your final grade.
Dr. Woods is a great teacher. She does not take attendance. There are 6 exams. She hands out a study guide with questions you answer from your book. As long as you finish your study guides and read over them, you will do fine. She also posts grades about a day after every test. She is a really nice lady too.

Dr. Nanci Woods is the best teacher in the psychology department. She explains everything very well. Go to class, read the book, do the study guide and you'll have an A. She makes class interesting and she's goofy at times. TAKE HER!
I would definitely recommend taking her for developmental psychology. At first I wasn't sure how much I would like the class, but I love it. If you go to class, do the studyguides, and pay attention you should be fine. I wouldnt say the class is really easy.. because you do have to try but it's a very interesting class if you take it with her!
Dr. Woods is absolutely amazing!! She was the first prof. i had encounters with in college and I wouldn't have asked of anyone else. She's a very nice teacher and cares about her students. She's easy if you actually pay attention and do the study guides. I would definately recommend her to anyone!
I only had Dr. Woods for APSU 1000, but she was EXTREMELY helpful. She is super nice and very approachable. I think she is a great professor and would take another one of her classes any day!
She is a nice, fun, spunky teacher. The class is difficult. I would NOT say that doing the study guide, reading and attending class would garantee you an A. The tests are weird because you have to choose the "best" answer. I would recommend Woods over any other Professor for Developmental! JUST STUDY HARD!
Dr. Woods is very eccentric. It's helpful though, because there is never a dull moment. She makes the subject very interesting and gives you her own personal accounts. She does her best to give you everything you need to succeed in her class. If you attend class, write down the hints she gives you, and do the study guide, you'll be fine.
The tests are horrible. HORRIBLE. I feel bad for anyone who has to take her, but from what I've heard she's the only other option that's at least passable. :(
This class is easy if you do the study guides, read the chapter and come to the lectures, these other students are just lazy. She is willing to help in any way and she's extremely smart.
Dr. Woods is AWESOME! She is EXTREMELY helpful if you do not understand something! She genuinely cares for her students and will make you THINK! Her tests are generally multiple choice but study for them like an essay question! I've taken her development and career classes and am taking adolescent development next spring with her!
Great professor! She is both fair, and easy as long as you do the work. No midterm or final, she only grades based on the writing assignments and quizzes. Excellent professor, I really learned a lot!
Her tests can kinda be out there in lala land. However, she is fair when grading the writing assignments. No midterm or final which is nice, but no chance to bring up your grade if you haven't done as well as you would have liked to. I give her a 50/100.
Power points during class, study guide after power points (optional), tests come from study guides--DIRECTLY! YOU WILL NEED THE BOOK! Great professor, however, she does get off topic a lot. no attendance required.
Love the class and subject itself, but dont like taking test every two weeks especially when you are trying to study two chapters and yes the tests are based on the study guides. Just trying to least make a C in that class.
This woman is a great professor. Her tests can be a bit difficult, but if you study, you should be fine. She gives plenty of examples and makes psycology interesting. Also gives extra credit and extra points on tests if she feels a question was too hard! Take her.
I thoroughly enjoy taking Dr. Wood's classes. She is a very nice lady and she knows what she is talking about, which makes her lectures easy to follow along with. Her tests are fairly easy as long as you follow the study guides. For clarity of the subject to apply to long term knowlede attend lectures to pass the test do the study guides and study.
Her class is not hard if you do he study guides..she is very understanding and always available. Only negative is exams are your ONLY grade.
This lady is what you call a very arrogant and pompous individual. She will talk about you to other classes, but won't say your "name". She is very mean about any questions you ask during her office hours. Stay away from her!
You can pretty much make straight Cs on the test, but as long as you complete the practice quizzes and make 100's on them... you'll pass with a 100.
Dr. Woods is a fantastic professor. She gives easy to understand examples for EVERYTHING and is so enthusiastic about Developmental Psychology. She talks about babies all the time and it's rather adorable. You can tell she really cares about what she teaches.
Overall good teacher. Obviously very passionate about psychology, teachers with enthusiasm, but not very personal with her students. Going to class is optional. She will spend the whole class reiterating one or two important concepts, but leaves a lot of information for you to teach yourself. However, she gives study guides, so the tests are easy.
I had her for APSU 1000, she's pretty straight-forward and very helpful. All she expects is for you to do your work, pay attention and study. It's not that hard.
her tests were not hard but you do have to study for your grade. she has 6 multiple choice tests and you can get up to 3 points extra credit and they are added to the final grade.
I've had Dr. Woods in several classes and she always been wonderful. She's enthusiastic about teaching and willing to help students if she can. Her classes aren't difficult, just require actual effort.
Dr. Woods is a very enthusiastic professor, but attendance is not mandatory in the least bit. She is not personable at all and could honestly care less about her students. She gives 6 tests with VERY lengthy study guides, take forever to do. And no guarantee it will help on the test. Tests are your ONLY grade! I'd say avoid if you can!
Dr. Woods is really passionate about the subject she's teaching, which I loved! Class is simply formatted and based on 6 noncumulative MC tests. The study guides are long but you have a good amount of time between tests to complete them. They are essential to passing and based completely on the book. Highly recommend!
She's great. I'm not a psych major and I passed Developmental Psych. Although, no lie, this class is hard. But if you love kids (she does), you're gonna like this class. All lecture. You have to come to class or you won't pass the tests, trust me. There are only 5, and that's the only grades you get. But, 3 extra credit pts possible. Take it! :)
Lectures are pretty lively and interesting. Tests are straight from study guides which are straight from the books. Attendance is optional, extra credit is given, up to 3 points. Grade based on tests. Do not leave your phone on during an exam.
Absolutely loved Dr. Woods as a professor, she's amazing!! Her lectures are amazing and shows how knowledgeable she is. Offers 3 extra credit opportunities and help to show you what you did wrong on exams. I only got a C but didn't fully apply myself until the end. My favorite class and professor.
Horrible professor but easy A
Class is not mandatory but she gives out the slides of the notes at the end and they are helpful. At the beginning of the semester she sent study guides for every chapter you test over for the whole semester, DO THEM. They help a lot on the tests.
Dr. Woods is an absolute wonderful professor! I enjoyed her class so much. I definitely recommend taking her. If you have any questions, she is always willing to help you, and her advice is genuine and always in your best interest. Everything she teaches is relevant. Her personality only made the class more enjoyable. Discussions helped a lot too.
Loved her class. Learned so much. She is opinionated but funny and honest. 5-6 exams multiple choice. If you did the study guides, read the chapter and attended class then you should make an A.
She really wants you to know the options. Great professor!!
Knows her stuff
Dr. Woods is no-nonsense and straight forward, but she really cares about her students' success. I've had her for three classes and she typically only has five exams and no homework, but does give a little extra credit. Do the study guides! You will not get an A if you just go to the lectures, but if you do the study guides you'll be fine.
She is so unorganized and the slowest lecturer. She literally gave out the wrong test to everybody and was teaching a whole other psychology class in 3100. she says her tests are "not memorization its application" but so is just about every other class in college and yet it is the hardest class I have taken.
Dr. Woods is very unorganized , and she does not put in grades on D2L so check on your grades frequently. The class was easy, many presentations and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory during presentations, because you will be required to do peer reviews. This is a big part of the grade that is not listed in the syllabus.
This professor likes to brag about how it's an "upper division", however it was not bad at all. I walked away with an A by only doing three things 1) Listen to the lectures 2.) Make flashcards out of every study guide 3.) Read the PowerPoint print outs. There are no papers to write nor homework assignments. Just study the material.
Dr. Woods is caring and helpful, but is hard to talk to because she comes off aloof. If I could give her any advice, I would suggest trying to be more people oriented and maybe a little less work oriented if possible. I know she would get a higher rating from me if she were friendlier.
She is not the most accessible professor, but she is very caring and works hard to help her students have good opportunities. Many people want her, so register as soon as you can.
Dr. Woods knows her material but she's very unorganized. The set up of this class wasn't for me! She's very monotoned so it was way too easy to become distracted by other things. She also doesn't post grades in D2L, you'll have to keep up them yourself by checking the board in the hallway.
Dr. Woods seems tough but she will give whatever advice or help she can to give you if you make an effort to go to her. In developmental, she emphasizes the difference of upper division courses but she is still just as helpful. Your grade is based on 5 tests though so study! Shoot her an email and she will almost always reply within 24 hours.
Do not take her for an online class. I took her over the summer online. No PowerPoints or any grading rubrics. She didnt manage her time properly so we didnt get any explanation about her grading and didnt get the first grade back until 5 assignments in. She contributed nothing to the course. Absolute waste of money.
Dr. Woods is initially intimidating, but you'll learn she is not as scary as she seems. She is knowledgeable and helpful for grad school applications or future careers in the psych field. She wants her students to succeed. She is not super warm but blunt and helpful. I really recommend getting to now her and taking her career development course.
Dr. Woods is very passionate about her subject, especially when it comes to child development. She is very knowledgeable about her material. However, this course consists of only 5 exams, which are quite challenging. The material on her exams covers text from the book and her class lecture combined. You have to really STUDY if you want to pass!
I could not recommend this professor any less to everyone. Very rude and disrespectful, not professional at all in class or in emails, someone stated she has 5 tests as the bases for your grade and that you have to study very hard. Even reading what you need won't be everything you need to pass, she puts material we have not covered in them.
I do not recommend at all. She was very unorganized, and pushed back our exams constantly (we would find out from her assistant, not her directly) . I felt she had no regard as to the fact that we all have other classes to study for as well. She also takes a while to get back to you if you email her.
