I love Nancy she gives super interesting lectures and relates it to her personal life making it easier too understand. She is strict but respects students that constantly show up and work hard. Quizzes are hard, but tests are not bad. I would take notes during lectures and study a lot before the exam. Best class I have taken at uark.

Honestly just a super self-centered person. has a god-complex, thinks she's telling us groundbreaking info at all times, doesn't like to work with students unless it's on her exact and precise terms. not very helpful, not a hard class if you go and study for tests, I just find Dr. Alwood to be intolerably annoying

the amount of work expected of you is OBSURD! Article evaluations, group project, rough drafts, SO MUCH. I've never had to do this much for a class. If youre willing to do the work, you won't have an issue. She's understanding& helpful and this would be great prep if planning on going to grad school. Without a doubt the worst professor I've ever had. She is very rude and unapproachable. This is a serious problem because the assignments are often confusing. She sets up Blackboard in a way that is difficult to navigate and color codes every paragraph with a different color. Also, SO MUCH WORK! It feels like two classes worth of work. DO NOT TAKE!

A lot of people did not like Professor Alwood but I actually thought she was great! Going to lecture is VERY necessary in order to do well in the class, but if you pay attention you will have pretty much all the notes you need. Does weekly quizzes, but they are not hard and she makes it easy to get 100s. Study guides are very accurate for exams.

Good teacher, attendance isn't mandatory but a lot of test material comes from lecture rather than the book so go to class. Material is interesting and not hard - tests are easy if you use the study guide she provides. Quizzes over every chapter and you can take them as many times as you want for a higher grade. Few opportunities for extra credit.

I want to warn anyone who is taking this class with Dr. Alwood. She is an EXTREMELY hard grader. Most of her assignments are either you receive a 0 or 100. If it's not good enough for her you get a 0. I got 10 points taken off my essay grade b/c I was missing one sentence on my paper (I only had 7/8ths of page). Take another professor's class.

If you are taking Dev. Psyc, she is amazing! Five exams pretty much make up your grade.
