I really liked her...she loves grammar and she does not like to give A's on papers...but she is very nice and very willing to help out...I definitely recommend her!
I liked her a lot. She's very helpful and taught me so much about writing.
Beasley is seriously awesome. she makes english interesting and fun. the papers are easy, and she doesn't give finals!! =)
she'll only like you if you're christian and conservative.

She's fun and helpful. Very nice and the best part is she doesn't give a final exam!

Pretty easy, rambles on, but really easy grader and very helpful.
Picks out her favorite students and sticks to it. She likes to cause trouble, NOT student friendly. I REALLY dislike this woman. Do NOT take her.
She is great! If you edit your paper well, then you will get an A. She makes the class fun even though she does go off on tangents sometimes; that makes her interesting. Definately take her if you can for ENGL 1101
Ms. Beasley is freaking awesome... love her.
I love Ms. Beasley- She does pick favorites which can be somewhat annoying, though. Still, she is always friendly and very helpful. Loves to tell stories and makes English fun- if you can imagine that!

I love Mrs. Beasley! She is so helpful and sweet! You have to do journals almost every week and a research paper, but they're not hard at all. Her essays are mostly easy and she's always willing to help you with your paper. I def. recommend her!!!!

Easy A and hated every moment of her class. Do not recommend her.
She is an awesome teacher! My favorite here so far. She doesn't only help you in class but outside of it too. Her advice is awesome! As a freshman she informed me with the dos and don'ts. Her class isn't hard but you learn!!! She's a great down to earth teacher... I hate to recommend her because then her classes will be even harder to get!
Amazing teacher, helped me out a lot. Will gladly help you if you ask. Can play favorites sometimes, but if you are one of the favorites, then you're set for the semester. Easy research paper and quizzes, also gave us the day off for registration.
Great teacher!! made class interesting. Make sure you read though, you get quizzed over what you read the night before, but they're extremely easy! tests are easy too. Gives good advice, was very helpful, and will help you if you are struggling. Best teacher I've had so far
Excellente professora!!!! Very nice and interested in helping students. Make sure you come to class ON TIME!
Amazing teacher. EXTREMELY helpful with problems school and non-school related. Makes English fun. She is big about good thesis statements and conclusions. She's very considerate towards the students. Make sure to read nightly or you'll have quizzes daily. Once the whole class shows her that they read, the quizzes stop. In all great teacher! =)
Mrs. B is awesome! Not only is she one of best teachers I've EVER had, she's my adviser! She's helped me with problems from both inside and outside the classroom. She is way strict on her attendance policy, but she rewards those who show up every day. Good luck at getting in her classes, though. They're near impossible to get into.
Picks favorites. If your not one of them you have no chance. I do not recommend her at all. crazy about attendance and a very boring class. This semester it seemed like she failed half our class and was not helpful at all to her non favorite students. I hate her.
Wonderful teacher. Door is always open and is helpful. Attendance is mandatory, but class is not boring. Will reward for coming to class. In response to favoritism, come to class and you will be a favorite!!!!!!
I love her as a teacher however shes very strict with attendance meaning you can't miss more than 3 class periods or you get dropped a grade level! Very easy though! I would definitely suggest taking her!
She doesn't really expect that much from her students aside from attendance. And yes she does play favorites. Boring, nothing new here. Wish I'd taken someone else
Wonderful, passionate, and a great teacher.
Very kind prof., she is one of the few teachers that you know cares about you and makes her class fun.. Her journals can be annoying to keep up with, but it is easily countered by the fact that there is no final exam, just an oral presentation about something in Milly... in my eyes, that isn't such a bad trade off :-) I'd take her again anytime!
She is a good teacher, she will teach you what is required. Yet she has favorites in her class and it is very noticeable. Stay on her good side and do all your work and you will get an A. She makes you a reading schedule with your syllabus and you have a project for your final. Just never insult Milledgeville in her presence.
She is an awesome teacher. She cares about all her students and if you ever need help she will do her best to help you. Also she is extremely hot!!!!! Attendance is extremely important but the class is very interesting. If you just listen in class the test are not hard.
very difficult. very strict.
I loved Mrs. Beasley. The way she teaches is very easy to understand, and you can tell that she loves what she does. She cares about her students and is always there if you need help with anything. I'd definitely take her again.
She is pretty straight to the point, she tells you what you have to do to get a decent grade, do the reading, review for the tests and you'll be fine.
i am in this class now, and I have found this professor to be extremely fair and clear. I do not believe she plays favorites at all-even with the students she has taught before. Her exams are hard, but she does prepare us. The attendance policy makes sense because we need to come to class to do well!
I got an A and hated every minute. She makes you work very hard but even more then that she believes in "stupid questions" which NO teacher should believe in. She will make you feel inferior.
Dont take her.
Easy teacher! She is really sweet, and gets off topic easily. Few papers and Research project at end of semester. Pretty easy!
SHE IS AWESOME! Class is hard to get into but its worth it. She helped me both in and outside the classroom! She does pick favorites but she's nice to everyone. But if you come to class...you'll be a favorite! And you get added points to your grade if you dont miss any! And to those who are complaining, we're in college, grow up, we pay tuition!
She is a nice lady & the class is not very hard, but it can be tough at times. The only problem with her is that she piles A LOT of work on you. The work isn't really hard, but it is a lot. A lot of reading & a lot of writing. If you dont make a good grade on a paper, just go talk to her. She will help you & prob increase your grade on the paper.
AMAZING! BEST TEACHER AT GCSU EVER! YOU WILL FIND NO ONE BETTER! Write 4 papers, take 4 tests. One project on HAMLET and it's really fun! Put forth some work and read the material and it's an easy A.
Easy class if you keep up with the work. There are 5 papers including a research paper due at the end of the term, 3 tests, and 1 book you have to read. She cares about your grade if you put in the effort. Attendance is very mandatory
She is pretty easy if you read all of the assignments, but she is rude and disrespectful to the students..unless you sit on the front row and suck up to her all semester. If you miss one day of class, she will notice and will hate you forever.
She is absolutely amazing! I would take her again in a heart beat. For world lit, she is by far the BEST teacher.
Not a good teacher. piles a ton of work on you. quiz r hard if u dont really read everything with great detail. no way to study for test that wouldn't require days of reading. just a horrible teacher.
Mrs. Beasley is a very helpful lady. She is willing to take her own time in case you need something. She isn't rude, she's willing to listen to you. You have to do the work, but the reading usually isn't much and she grades essays easily. She is one of my favorite professors yet.
TAKE HER. Beasley is the best Lit professor on this campus by far. Her classes are quite difficult to get into, however, if you read the works and take notes when she goes over them in class. FEW QUIZZES, 4 MAJOR TESTS WORTH 20% EACH, AND ONE MAJOR HAMLET PROJECT. Literally you cannot miss class more than 3 times or 10 points off final
Mrs. Beasley was so enthusiastic about this class, that it was hard to get bored or uninterested. She was an overall GREAT teacher. I would recommend her for anyone! She was easy, but at the same time you learn a lot. She also would stay after class to talk with you, and was a very nice teacher.
Extremely fair and respectful. Helped even non-lit people get excited about reading. Cares about her students.
gives a lot of busy work and you have to write a lot of papers and give presentations and such but nothing to crazy. she definitely loves english which can be overwhelming at times. a lot of work but not that hard
She is AWESOME!!! I took her twice, once for 1101& for 1102. As long as you read the material before going to class and participate, there is nothing really bad with her class. She will help you out & help you if you need help in certain areas. Personally, one of my best teachers so far.
Mrs. Beasley is such a great teacher. English really isn't my thing but I thoroughly enjoyed the class. The homework consists of the assigned reading from the textbook which you will definitely need. Tests are very straight forward but I do suggest you study. Very easy to get along with and understand. Should be an easy A. Take her.
I took this class for Maymester, and it was a great decision. Lit is not my thing, but the course was not only managable in May, but it was fun too. There is a variety of graded material so even not good writers can do well. I actually liked most of what we read and I really don't love to read. I recommend her class-especially in May!
If you're decent at English you will get a B. My class had 5 essays, 3 powerpoint presentations, and one written tests. She loves the Hunger Games. Basically a Hunger Games class. Didn't really learn much in her class...just did "busy work" in my opinion.
She is hands down the best English teach I've EVER had. Ive never felt so motivated to actually read literature. She truly cares about the students that REACH out to her. Strict on attendance, but if you make an effort to get to know her it will make a huge difference in your grades and everything! She even helped me register for classes, and added extra seats to her class so I could be in it the next semester.
I took this class in summer because I am not a great reader. The teacher was so helpful even though the class was pretty big. I actually liked a lot of stuff we read. TAKE HER CLASS!
Great teacher! Take her!!
BEST. CLASS. EVER!
One of the best teachers I have ever had in my entire academic career. I now have a minor in English because I loved her class so much.
One of my all time favorite professors. Get to know her outside of class, shes a great person and she respects the initiative. Great class, great teacher. Lots of reading but she simplifies it for you. The projects arent too hard, and she makes it fun! I dont like lit but HIGHLY recommend this class with Beasley!
Definitely take her, she's AMAZING. If you really care, she will definitely work with you. You will discuss what you read so make sure not to be shy about talking. She loves it when everyone has ideas and you will often pair up with a partner to discuss the reading and then share with the entire class.
She is an excellent teacher! Best english class I've ever taken. She cares about her students and she knows what she's talking about. If you do the work to your best ability, an A is easy to achieve.
One of the best English teachers I have ever taken! She is very passionate about her work and very helpful. She wants you to pass and will do what is necessary to get you there as long as you put in some effort. At first I thought her class was full of busy work, but everything we did pertained to the class. Take her!
She is my favorite teacher I've had at GCSU. She's really sweet and approachable. If you talk in her class and participate, you'll get an A for sure.
I have taken several English classes with Dr. Beasley. She has definitely been one of my favorite professors at gcsu. She cares about her students succeeding. Class is mandatory which sucks, but if you miss no class she adds a few points to your grade. I would recommend to take her for sure.
Mrs. Beasley expects a lot of work out of her students and ALOT of reading. She is very passionate about literature and wants you to be as well. In my class we constantly read stories, take quizzes, read novels, do presentations, write exam papers on the stories and novels, and we have to do a film project. Put in effort and you'll make an A.
There is a ton of reading and you aren't given enough time to read everything she assigns. She is the hardest grader I've ever had, and will destroy your papers and will not help you understand how to make it better. I'm a straight A student and have never struggled with Lit until I took her class. Try and switch teachers if you can.
This was a great Literature 2 class. Expectations were fair and classes are either reading or group discussions. Participation is encouraged. Beasley wants to hear everyone's opinion this is not a Lit class where the teacher preaches theirs. The only negative was the syllabus getting altered a lot and grade tern around time is really slow.
Absolutely love Ms. Beasley's class. I'm not super into lit but she made it bearable. She gives clear feedback on essays and if you want further clarification, she is more than willing to sit down with you and talk out why she gave you a certain grade.
This is my 2bd time having Mrs. Beasley and this time wasn't as great as my first experience. Very slow turn around time with grading which altered the sylabus the entire semester and when my papers were graded they weren't explained when I asked. She is still a great professor though, very passionate about what she teaches. Come to class and talk!
Lots of reading. Harder class, but totally doable. Just work hard and go to class.
Was very slow with returning grades due to amount of classes she was teaching. Didn't always seem willing to help in office hours but helpful in class and writing workshop days. Was nice but seemed to sometimes take her frustrations out on the class. Pretty easy class just follow the instructions.
Unless you're a world literature enthusiast and this is your passion then don't waste your time taking the class. It is very long and boring and is so vague, nobody ever knew what was going on. You have 3 essays and the prompts are impossible to understand so theres that. She acts like she is there for all her students when it is just the opposite!
She is a very nice lady but kind of a tough grader on papers. If you just try a little bit you can make a B. If you want an A you have to really put in the work. Do the readings and do well on all the quizzes and it will save your grade if you are not a strong writer.
I love Dr. Beasley! She's very sweet and her class is interesting. You have to read short stories and do reading comprehension quizzes (although they were all take home), but if you miss a couple she'll open them up for you again. I was able to get an A on all four papers!
I love Professor Beasley! She is awesome. She clearly loves English. She is really helpful and gives good feedback and will even help you figure out what to write about.
This class was pretty easy, I didn't have to read much even though it was a World Literature class. Summaries can get you by. Just online quizzes, 3 essays. The worst thing about the class was the senseless Hamlet project-- a project that consists of you and 4-5 other people creating a 30 minute long movie about an act of Hamlet. A nightmare.
I have had Mrs. Beasley multiple times, and she is by far one of my favorite professors! She truly cares about her students and is very passionate about the subject material. If you put in the effort you will do very well! If you are having trouble, just talk to her! She is willing to help you outside of class to ensure you get the grade you need.
Passionate about subject matter. Online quizzes over novels are somewhat difficult. Willing to help if you need it. Class might be a little more difficult because she usually teaches honor students.
She is really sweet and nice and super passionate about the subject matter. She assigns long papers and takes forever to grade them. Her class is a lot harder than what a GC1Y course should be.
Dr. Beasley was one of my first professors at GCSU and it was so refreshing to see how much she cares about her students academically and personally, she will help you get the grade that you want as long as you show her you've put in the work. As long as you do the readings and know how to write a decent essay, this class isn't too difficult.
If you're looking for one of those teachers that bumps an 89 to a 90 - you've found her. She's the best and she is so caring and understanding. I had a tonsillectomy and she gave me an extra day to write a midterm paper. How awesome! However, there is so much reading I recommend this as a summer class for sure. But it is do-able. Good luck!
Ms. Beasley is easily the best English professor I've had in college. She truly cares about her students and their success! Seriously all you have to do is go to her once or twice outside of class and ask what you can do better and she'll think that you're the greatest student ever. TAKE ALL OF HER CLASSES
Mrs. Beasley is such a nice lady and loves teaching. All of the answers to her quizes (in class and out of class) can be found on quizlet. I never read anything for her class except one book and made all 100s on the quizes. She has 3 papers and 2 group projects one was super easy (pwrpt.) the other involves filming and time outside of class.
Beasley is the BEST! Super easy! Only had 4 papers entire semester. Easy grader. Does awesome writing workshops. Lots of quizzes online but SUPER easy if you read. Gives extra credit! THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT GC!
Super easy and nice lady. Just show up and do the work
she's a really great lady but the quizzes are so specific that it is absolutely awful. Luckily there's a lot of other grades to help but if you don't do really good on all the other grades, you'll be struggling
Her class was a breeze. If you show up to the class which you should get a bonus at the end of the semester than this class will be super easy. She's a sweet Milledgeville native who always has a smile on her face.
So many group projects, reading quizzes are hard, and a midterm and final paper, but an easy A. She grades right off the rubrics so if you meet all the criteria you basically get an what you deserve. None of my papers were that in depth but I followed the rubric and got 97s. I never really read any of the books and failed the quizzes but got an A
I thoroughly enjoyed her class. She has a real passion for literature, and almost made me wish I was majoring in English instead of Biology. She's kind, really interesting to listen to, and generally clear about what she requires. Not hard if you aren't a slacker.
Boring. Mediocre. Don't go to office hours.
I took her for my GC1Y and the class was amazing. I loved all of the books we read and we had interesting group projects. Don't take this course if you aren't willing to read because there were about 8 books total. The quizzes can be difficult if you don't read but she is very leniant when grading essays.
Mrs. Beasley is a very nice lady! She was a tough grader on essays, but there are a lot of other grades besides the papers to help boost your grade. if you don't miss a class the whole semester she will add 2 points to your final grade at the end!
Looking for a maymester that still lets you go out 3/7 nights of the week? Beasley is the one for you! Enjoyable lectures and nice, even for a mocal!
There are 2 group projects, one of which is tough, but doable. She is very good about walking you through it and makes sure you know exactly what is going on. She is available in office hours and always does her best to answer questions. Her lectures are AMAZING. She is not an "easy" teacher, and you have to come to pass, but she's so passionate!
Lectures help you understand the info/relate to the characters' stories. She is a hard grader, but gives you her rubrics and follows it exactly. She gives 2 pts if you don't miss class (w/o reason), BUT deducts if you miss too many. She is such a nice lady, I feel like she really cares about her students and wants to see them do well and learn.
I took Utopia/Dystopia with her. Don't miss class, have something to say about the readings in class (bc there's always reading homework) and be on top of makeup work if you do miss class. You do mostly group work, but there's a lot of it. I wouldn't take her again, but that's just me.
I took utopia/dystopia and I adored this woman. She really cares about her students and will help you if you come to her office hours. If you show her you're trying she will do whatever it takes to help you. Be sure to read all of the books, I read along with audiobook and it saves so much time.
My favorite professor I have ever had. She is very kind and is passionate about her classes. Go to class and use her office hours for help on essays. Online quizzes help to boost your grade.
Professor Beasley is a great professor and person. She is very interesting to listen to during class. There are 3 essays and one research paper. They are pretty easy and she is willing to help you with the in class time and office hours she provides.
She is a hard essay grade, but is willing to help. She wants to see you do well and cares about her students. This was the first class I took with her and was not my last. Take notes on her lectures for the assigned readings because they will help you develop a good essay.
Take notes on the videos and her lectures because they will help you when you write your essays. She is accessible out of class and wants to see you succeed. If you show up to class and show that you care, she will like you.
The works read in this class were amazing, but group projects are the bane of my existence and they were pretty intense. However, if group projects aren't your forte, Professor Beasley assigns many different kinds of work that make up for it, and gives you the opportunity to talk to her about it if your group isn't pulling their weight.
Such a nice lady! JUst had to read a few books and do a few group presentations and one solo presentation. Would definitely take her again.
Mrs. Beasley is a great professor to take a GC1Y with. She understands the material and is very willing to help. Watched a lot of movies towards the end of the semester, but make sure to read everything that she assigns outside of class.
This teacher is amazing. She will pull out all the stops to make sure you do good. It feels genuinely good to know shes proud of you. Often goes off on tangents in the reading, but she is very passionate about what she does.
This teacher definitely has favorites. She was very slow this semester with grading but it was understandable. The class was fair but be sure to get on her good side.
Professor Beasley was my favorite professor this semester. I found the material extremely interesting, which encouraged me to actually read the books and participate in class. Beware, if you hate group projects, you will dislike her style of teaching. However, I really do recommend taking her class. She is the sweetest and most caring professor.
I worked hard for my A and thankfully I got on her good side. I was one of the lucky ones. A lot of times she made me lose my passion for teaching because she acted childish and passive-aggressive around her own students. She talked about students behind their back and If you skip class enough times she could fail you with no warning.
Prof. Beasley takes into consideration the work that you put in. Lots of reading little short stories but they were interesting. If you dont show up to class often you will be hated by her and will fail.
Prof Beasley was one of my favorites and she obviously cares very deeply about her work/education. She is very strict about attendance and participation. Her standards are high. I've felt that she can be too harsh on students that aren't on her "good side", but if you do the work and show you care she will help you out.
She hardly ever responded to my emails and was rude to me when I tried to clarify something after class. Maybe she was having a bad day, but thats why shes getting 2 stars. She can be passive aggressive. However, I can tell she is passionate about the material and does care. Listen to the audiobooks. There are some free ones on YouTube that help.
If you miss one day of class and don't get assigned a poetry group she'll then "allow" you to fail the assignment. Then when you visit her office hours to talk about making up the assignment for partial credit and apologize for missing class, she'll laugh.
She's really nice. I had her for the GC1Y Utop/Dystop class. We read about 4 books and had easy quizzes on them. We also only wrote like 3 papers. She loves group projects so be prepared. She also cancels class a lot. She was very nice in giving extra help when it came to writing papers. She also had many interesting things to say during lectures.
This was the worst professor I've ever had. Rude and refuses to work with students. Randomly setting an assignment to be due at 3:26 pm? Opening a quiz from 9:30 to 10:30 am with no warning and scolding the class for not taking it? Absolutely not. Took 3 months to grade our first papers and didn't even bother to grade/comment on our final papers.
She sets very strange deadlines. If you forget to check times or read them wrong, it's very easy to miss assignments, and she called our whole class lazy because some of us missed a quiz due in the morning that she never mentioned. She's very rude and unhelpful if you email her, and she posted on the ga view complaining that we email her too much.
She's really nice. I had her for the GC1Y Utop/Dystop class. We read about 4 books and had easy quizzes on them, and all the answers can be fond online. We also only wrote like 3 papers. She loves group projects so be prepared. She also cancels class a lot. She was very nice in giving extra help when it came to writing papers.
Took her Utopian and Dystopian Literature GC1Y. Entire class was discussion posts, a few book quizzes, and two essays. I would say that while it is *possible* not to read the books and still fly by, it's honestly easier if you just read them, especially because the book quizzes can be pretty specific about little details from the reading.
As long as you complete the readings and discussion posts for the class you will do fine. She is strict on deadlines given it is an online class. Be ELABORATE with discussion posts and essays to get full points. She's also very strict on plagiarism and academic integrity so just write your own material for all assignments or points get deducted.
Mrs. Beasley is great! Show up to class and do your homework and talk a little bit and at least pretend like you're trying and care you'll be fine and she will like you. She's a very nice person, and if you suck at English and want a lighter English class because you have to take one for your major, she's great, because she'll grade you on effort
She has you purchase a $15 book where a majority of our readings come from. All the readings in this class are short stories, very easy reads. There is a short quiz for each story as well, to make sure the reading was actually completed. We had two papers and a research paper which she gives plenty of time to complete.
She made this harder to keep up with than either of my Biodiversity classes which were really hard. 0/10 recommend her if you like your gpa where it's at
I expected to learn something, but this has been the worst class Ive taken at GC. She takes forever to grade, has the most unclear rubrics, and expects way more than the effort she shows as a teacher. Do not take this class or this professor for any reason.
Nancy Beasley is easiest one of the worst professors I have ever had. She says she has won awards for her program but I would suggest otherwise. All you do in the class is read books, take tests, write essays, and watch videos of someone else teaching. She will give you a huge essay and not say anything about it until the day before it is due.
She took forever to grade assignments and would yell at any students who questioned their grades. I only had two grades in the grade book during finals week and after my final she entered 80% of our grades. I finished with an 89 because i had no idea what my grade was until it was too late and she would not round it. Extremely rude when confronted.
This woman is incredibly rude. Don't you dare ever be confused about something or ask her questions because she will respond in a very rude way and not answer the question. I have had several other friends take her and they all have said she was also extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HER EVER!!!!!
I love Dr Beasley! She is a fantastic professor and she is really passionate about what she teaches. She is really understanding and if you have an issue she is more than willing to work with you. Please take her!
She treats every student as if they are her own child. Whether you need help on an essay or have roomate drama... She will be an ear! Her courses are reading heavy, but specifically her GC1Y dystopia course is very interesting. Be prepared to show up to class and have conversations. Fair grader, and more than willing to help!
The imagination lit GC2Y is a work in progress because 2022 is the first year she has taught this GC2Y. However, she is an amazing professor. A fair grader and she removes work if she feels like she has assigned too much. Her classes are reading heavy, but there is no reason that you shouldn't leave this class with an A. Enjoyable, and easy dub
Her World lit course was less reading than her other courses. This was my first english class in college and made me realize how fitting it was to be an English Major. Beasley quickly turns a classroom full of students into a family who finds a home in literature. Show up to class, do your homework, and you will walk out with more than an "A".
She is wonderful, and awesome, and I loved every moment of her class! We read amazing books, such as Pride & Prejudice, Dracula, and Rebecca, and then watching various adaptations of the novels. You can tell Professor Beasley truly loves the texts she is teaching and really wants each and every student to love them as much as she does.
Professor Beasley is absolutely incredible and one of the best professors I have ever taken. She is so caring and truly wants each of her students to succeed. Additionally, the readings for the course were fantastic, and if you love literature, you will love the selections too!
Beasleys Brit Lit class was a little more challenging than her other classes I've taken because it is heavy reading. Her quizes for this course were a tad more difficult as well. Definitely a harder class, but still an obtainable A. She knows what shes doing for sure, just be prepared to read!... It is an English class
I had Professor Beasley for my first year seminar class, a class designed specifically to acclimate new students to GCSU, and she was absolutely incredible!!!! She is so helpful and caring, and perfectly explains everything I needed to know for my future education at GCSU.
The class itself isn't very hard; just read the stories and do the work. The only thing I didn't like was that she claims it's a discussion based class, but just talks the whole time. She is for sure passionate about what she teaches, but it makes her upset if someone doesn't seem to care for it. If you don't pay attention to her she'll be mad.
Professor Beasley is unlike any other professor I've had at Georgia College. She goes the extra mile for all of her students and truly wants the best for them and wants them to succeed. Do the readings, engage in class, and most of all just TALK to her about the books. She's very passionate and loves to see that passion reflected in her students.
Nancy Beasley is one of the most caring and considerate professors I've ever had. The negative reviews that claim she is selfish and disrespectful are coming from the same people that don't show up to class and are affected by attendance. You need to stay prompt and studious just as you would for any other class. And yes, there are readings.
Always have loved her! Attendance is mandatory but you can miss 5 classes. I've taken 3 classes with her and all have been easy. Mainly just essays, and reading quizzes.
I took GC1Y Utopian and dystopian worlds from Professor Beasley spring semester, and I have never been so engaged in a class before. We read really great books, but the best part was how Professor Beasley helped us to make connections between the novels and our real world.I thought about big ideas I had never considered before.
People who complain about Dr. Beasley are the ones who don't show up to class or do the work. Just participate, do the work, and talk to her when you need help. She really does care. She is always willing to give partial credit. The final project was very open to whatever and super funny and creative. Very enjoyable class.
Dr Beasley keeps lectures interesting and loved to hear from students. The selected books were great. Ignore the reviews on here saying she is mean or does not care. As long as you show up or talk to her when you miss class and she sees you try, you will do fine. She will call people in class to hear from everyone, she loves to hear all opinions
Very great class
This class may seem like an easy A but if you do not show up to class don't expect to get a good grade. Very fun class to take
AMAZING. love Beasley! She rocks! Easy A
Dr. Beasley is a wonderful professor, she clearly has a great passion for literature and this definitely shows through her lectures. Expect to write two essays, and do a research paper presentation in this class. Make sure to pay attention in class and show that you care, she definitely takes this into account.
If you show up to class on time, do the readings, and put in a little bit of effort, it's an easy A. Beasley's a fantastic professor who tries to instill good habits in her students. Mandatory attendance, but she's very understanding if you just talk to her. Lots to read, but fantastic choices in readings.
Very strict on due dates/times. Nice until she is not. Tends to overreact and yell at students in the middle of class when she gets mad at them (doesn't happen often but is very off-putting when it does). Extremely passive-aggressive.
Dr.Beasley is an AMAZING professor she is so sweet and really cares about her students as long as you're willing to put in the work. attendance is definitely mandatory her biggest pet peeve is students not showing up and there are lots of pop quizzes over readings but she is always happy to help you on assignments and is a very sweet person!
Great person- terrible teacher for me. Imagination Literature tests were just trivia. She repeated the same thing every day until we changed books. There was no use reading the books because you wouldn't remember any of the random questions she pulls. I feel like she hasn't even read the books in a while her understanding feels like it lacks depth.
I loved GC2Y Global Imagination. I learned so much about the background of imaginative literature, and we studied some really fun books. My favorite part of the class though was when we divided into groups and researched a particular aspect of one of the books. Professor Beasley encouraged creativity, and all of the presentations were so great.
I did not expect to enjoy this class so much since I am more science-oriented, but there is something here for every interest. Class time was actually enjoyable, and we had some relevant discussions about literature that are important for our lives. Beasley is relaxed and prepared in class, and she respects our opinions.
Avoid Mrs. Beasley at all costs, she has clear favoritism for certain students who are the ones who have given her good reviews on here but she has a "grade conversation policy" meaning she does not allow students to discuss grades with her. She was extremely rude to me and other students to their faces in class and over email, and so much more bad
The class itself was not hard, however, it was clear she picked favorites. She refuses to talk about the subjective grades she gives out and states the university does not allow us to email her about it. She also takes months to grade assignments and gets upset if you email her about it.
If you pay attention she will favor you. If you do not pay attention she will not care to help you since you do not respect her time, she is just trying to help you and if you just pay attention you will most likely get an A.
She didn't use any structure for her lectures and her tests were based on strange facts that had nothing to do with the book, and was rude sometimes. She grades essays at an upper English major level when many people in the class were not. There's a huge final project that you work on for the whole semester.
Beasley's GC2Y class was surprisingly engaging. While the material could be dense, her relaxed teaching style and focus on discussion made it enjoyable. Using Unstuck AI and the textbook helped me ace the tests.
She is very degrading and backhanded. Her only answer to your questions is "see syllbus". Makes remarks to the class about the questions you ask and says she can't anser them because it is in the syllabus. The syllabus consistantly changes. Do not recommend unless you want someone who expects respect but can't give it.
Beasley was the BEST professor and could not have taught this class better. Her lectures are fun + easy to follow. You read a book, listen to the lectures, and take an exam (then repeat). For finals, you are able to have so much fun with it and really enjoy yourself. I definitely recommend this class and Beasley as a professor, she is perfect!
Although her class is mostly lecture based, it is clear that she is passionate about her topics, which is what makes her engaging. She often repeats herself, so if you missed a class (or didn't read the book), you should be able to catch up. Most of her tests are based off of the lectures and summary of the book, so notes are your best friend!
She was not bad she got nicer as the semester went on. However she did get arrested
If you want to do good in this class show you care early on in the class. be a teacher's pet she loves it and you will do better because of it. if you are looking for a gc1y with not a lot of work, do not take this class. there are multiple papers throughout the year and you have a read a lot of books.
Stated in an email she wrote to me "to be quite honest, the grade should be much lower. the grade was a gift" when I asked a question about her notes (I had an A). Thought she was very intelligent but super rude towards the end. sucks because I really liked the class just not how she has little to no respect for students. felt like fake mean girl.
goes through notes very fast, and does not post them, there is no text book so if you miss class you are basically screwed, the tests are very detail oriented about the books asking super specific questions that people do not know even if they have read the book, she is kind and funny and will help if you need it, but you must be on her good side
Awesome GC1Y but wouldn't take her again. It was very reading heavy and you need to participate and interact with her for a good grade. It was hard but worth it for one class to prepare for harder professors later. (From a graduated GCSU student that had way worse professors)
She seems so nice in the begiaing but that quickly changes! Has literally been to jail!!! (why is she still working here?????) Acts as if the air she breaths is betters than everyone elses. So passivagressive and undermining. Do not take her class!!
She takes forever to grade, exams can be difficult to study because no clue what to expect, she is very rude to people, if you do not participate as often as others she treats you differently, and gives unrealistic expectations of some things.
Is the absolute worst!!! Do NOT take her class if you like your life!! She is so rude, undermining, and very passive-aggressive. Has literally been to jail.
Is the worst!!!!!! Takes forever to grade anything. Is sooo passive-aggressive and rude. Thinks she's the best person to walk GCSU! Truly a horrible person. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
She'll be so normal at the start, kinda like a cute old lady but then she kinda goes crazy. She knows these books like they're her own. She's probably read them at least 20 times. She's really passive aggressive and honestly a little mean. There is a lot of books and a quiz after each of them. The class is fine it's not hard if you read the books.
Prof Beasely is passionate about what she teaches, accessible outside of class, and always tries to make things fun. My #1 advice would be to do the reading and come to class ready to interact. She's willing to give extensions or make acceptions depending on the situation—don't take advantage tho (srs, she gave like so many class-wide extensions).
I have never disliked a professor more. She starts off nice, but turns out to be incredibly rude, inconsiderate, and gives you no respect. She did give us random extra credit at the end of the semester and told us to give her good SRIS survey ratings because she has a new supervisor. Overall do not like her she's an awful person.
PT1: As a professor, Mrs. Beasley was excellent. It was clear that she always wanted the best for her students and was often funny in her lectures. She was even accessible for student hours, and very helpful as well. I also liked how she heavily emphasized on learning how to work with your classmates.
PT2: As a course, it's average. The Hamlet project was fun, and some readings were better than others. But the course would have been just fine without certain readings like Bhagavad Gita or Gilgamesh. And there was slightly more emphasis on politics than needed. However, whenever politics were discussed, she always remained neutral about it.
She didn't even leave any feedback on my final essay that I worked incredibly hard on. The last week she would not meet with me to revise it after telling me she would, she just told me to go to the writing center. Super rude in person and over email. Doesn't give her students any respect. Plays the victim, passive aggressive, and kind of insane.
