She is a good teacher, she tries to help everyone understand math. She gives lots of take home quizzes she wants you to pass. She is clear. Homework is not necessary. For exams just do and focus on the practice test on the webstie and you will be straight. I would definitly recommend her
I had her class at 8am and it was definitely one of the worst to sit through. No attendance, homework doesn't matter, just do the practice exams and pray.
What a great woman!! I wish I could take more classes with her. She cares about the students and is more than willing to go over problems until you understand. She makes math fun and her class was one I always enjoyed going to. Thanks Nance
She is awesome! I have taken two of her classes now and have an A in both. She makes math so easy.
If possibly take her for MTH 111, she is the only teacher I have had in college who honestly cares about how each of her students do, and the only one who covers all the important material that is covered on the exams. She is the reason why I was able to pass precalc!
Just an unbelievable teacher!!! Take her if you can, she is fun, fair, and cares about the students. She made this class so easy and I was one who skeptical about this class. I learned so much that I can apply to the real world. I will look to take more classes with her and that says alot because I was far from a math person before I took her.
Probably the best teacher I've had at URI! Math is not my best subject and I was scared to take this class. She makes it as easy as possible and really cares if you're having problems learning the material. There's a lot of work but even if it's not your best subject you WILL learn!
great math teacher! she is so nice and really cares about you! it was still kind of a hard class but she gets most things cleared.
Really nice, not a lot of work at all.First half of semester is working on group project, really easy.Make questions for it very clear and precise though!(Will understand if take it).Not a lot of things graded, but last two exams are take home, can work together.Learned lot though, take this class.
She is an amazing teacher, I am taking another class with her next fall. She is extremely helpful, doesnt take attendance, not a lot of work and the tests are not that difficult. She is by far my favorite teacher.
THE BEST MATH TEACHER AT URI ... BY FAR!!! She wants you to learn the material. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go to just about every class you'll either fail or barely pass! A lot of the material is not from the book so take good notes. Take this class whether math is your thing or not!
SUCH a good teacher. Makes the subject so easy to learn. And really knows what she is talking about. I just signed up for my 3rd business class with her!!
This professor is amazing. She is so sweet and knows how to get through to her students. I am a pretty good math student but I never learned the fundamentals of algebra well enough and this woman explained things so simply and clearly. Great teacher who cares about her students!!!
I LOVED her! She was my first Math professor at URI and I got lucky! Her lessons are so easy to understand and you can tell she enjoys teaching. SUCH A GOOD TEACHER!
Awesome professor, taught the material clearly and wants everyone to do well.
The best math teacher I ever had. She really know how to do her job.
Never uses the book except to give homework that she doesnt check or go over. as long as you go to class and pay attention, you can get an a. tests and quizzes are straightforward, only stuff she covered in class. there was one group project that was ridiculously easy, not a problem to get 100.
She doesn't check the homework-ever-so if you rely on homework to get a better grade, you are screwed. Esp. if you are the kind of person who needs motivation to practice material via doing the homework.
Good teacher makes it easy
Excellent teacher. Makes the material easy to understand. Wants you to learn. She's very accommodating when it comes to help. Tests and quizzes come right from the notes.
MTH 110 is not a tough class, but she makes it alot easier. She explains everything that you ask her to and provides students with a strong syllabus.
She is the best math teacher ever. She teaches the material so well and in a way where everyone can understand it. I am obsessed with her and I will take it her again and again!
Nancy is one of the better business teachers at URI. She is very helpful and very clear. I took her for BUS 210 and am taking her again for 211 because i liked her teaching style so much. There were 3 exams that were not too bad because she prepares you so well for them. She is a fair grader and even offers extra credit.
Nancy was hands-down my favorite professor at URI! She's so nice and she explains things really well! I took MTH 110 with her and I couldn't help but sign up for her BUS 111 class. Even though she's not my professor anymore, she still knows me by name and she's SO nice!!!
Class should be relatively easy however she does not use a textbook. took her for 211. If you miss class most likely you missed an assignment that she gave and you will have to go to her impossible office hrs (7:30-8 AM) to get somewhat of an explanation. gives three exams which she claims will be TF, short and easy but they can be very confusing.
Great teacher for this class in whole dept. if you iss class be sure to show her homework in case you got called. Also she is very helpful if you don't understand something. One of the best math teachers I've ever had.
Take whatever classes you can with Nancy. She is a great teacher and explains everything in easy to understand ways. her quizzes and exams are very fair. my favorite professor at URI!
BUS 111 with her, I took her and 110 and loved how much she was willing to help if you were confused. Same applied in 111, she helped me out in class and in office hours. Take good notes b.c no book and you'll be set
She is a great professor who explains everything that you need to know. There are no tricks on exams, and she sets you up to do well.
I wish she could teach all of my BUS classes, by far the best teacher I've had at URI
Nancy is by far my absolute favorite teacher here at URI! She completely turned my opinion of math around! I wish she could be my teacher every single semester for all of my business courses! TAKE HER CLASS NO MATTER WHAT!
Bus Stats 2 was easy with Beausoleil but I don't feel like I learned much. It was very technical-we actually used minitab the whole time and never had to learn laws of statistics or anything usual teachers would give quizzes on. The final was a group project-super easy-just what we did all year put together. One test was take home.
Hands down best professor i've had at URI. Not only is Nancy the nicest lady in the whole entire world, but she is a great teacher. She gives great notes and is super clear. If you ever are lost she will take her time to explain it to you. Her homework is usually optional but deff do it because it really helps you stay kept up with the material!
I love Nancy. She is so nice and really explains the material well. I found the class easy but other didn't. If you are interested in the material then you will do fine. Its a lot of word problems and calc.
She is really nice and helpful. Class is pretty easy for the most part.
She is not a nice teacher. She seems nice for the first few weeks but when it comes down to derivatives she offers no help and will leave when students are taking tests early. If you take this course be cautious.
She's the sweetest professor ever, feels like your mom teaching you. She in nit-picky on grading, but tells you what she wants, so its on you. I would take her again, she's very thorough. Nice woman. The material is tough so study.
Will not be able to say enough good things, Prof Beausoleil is the best professor I have ever taken for a math course, she does not require a textbook so going to class is essential because that's how you learn the material. Explains things very clearly and will take the time to help you get it if you don't. Grading is very straightforward!
Nancy is an amazing teacher. Too many good things to say about her. Her exams are short and to the point, she sets you up to do well. Also gives good notes and examples to study from. Take her!
Nancy is an angel. She is my favorite professor, and is always willing to help. She even helped me on one of my economics projects when I came to her office hours! Her grading criteria is clear, and I love that she doesn't use a textbook, as it saves me a lot of money. I have taken her twice now, and I can't say enough good things about her.
Nancy is amazing. I came in weak with alebra and left with a B+ in college calc. She gives so much extra credit and take home projects that boost your grade tremendoulsly and apply to real life. She is very accessable with the office hours and so helpful. She really wants her students to do well and if you go to the classes you will pass
Everyone try to get Beausoleil as your professor. She is an amazing educator and a sweet woman who really wants to see you succeed. She's willing to work with you and super caring about all of her students. Literally love Nancy
Nancy is such a great person & professor. She cares about her students and is always willing to help them. Her lectures are easy to understand, clear and interactive. She is funny & so nice so it's easier to sit through a class. She makes math fun and relates it to the real world all of the time, make sure you go to class though and take notes!
Best teacher I've ever had! Really cares about students and if you go to office hours even once she'll remember your name! Exams are kind of difficult but if you go to class and use her study sheets you'll do fine!
Love love her! I had a teacher last year and got a D in their class, and now I took her and got an A. All you need to do is do the homework - there is not a lot, just to go along with the class. Study for exams, she doesn't try to trip you up. I never went for extra help and others did and said it was helpful
Show up to class, do the homework for practice, and go ask her about any questions and you have got yourself another A. #4.0Grind
Professor Beausoleil is fantastic!!! Her lectures are very clear and she really knows how to explain business math to students so it makes sense and also so it doesn't feel worthless to learn. She just knows how to teach effectively and well. She gives announced quizzes, 3 exams total, and homework that is optional. Do the work to stay up to date.
Professor Beausoleil is such a nice lady! She genuinely cares about her students and is willing to work with them outside of class. Her tests and quizzes are fair and reflect the material taught (no surprises). The class is graded on a points accumulated basis so every point during the semester counts. I would encourage anyone to take her class.
She is a great teacher, I just didn't do as well as I wanted to in the class. If you do the practice homework and take good notes in class and study hard, you'll be fine. Get 80's on all three exams and you won't have to take the really hard final. Go to her office hours as much as possible.
Really great teacher. Hard course, but she simplifies it like no other. I've heard students taking this course three times and finally understand it with Nancy. Really good at just teaching the material.
Prof Beausoleil is amazing! She makes the material easy to understand by breaking it down and making sure each step is clear. If you do the work and show up to class you're good. She has great lectures, so you'll never need a book. You get what you put into this class, so make sure you go and pay attention. Also, she's very nice and helpful.
Nancy is one of the best teachers that I have ever had the pleasure of having. I've had her for BUS111, BUS210 and BUS211 and got easy A's in all of them. As long as you show up, take notes and do the practice problems there is no way you can fail. She explains everything so clearly and is always willing to answer any question you have.
Nicest lady ever but very difficult class. Make sure you show up to class to stay up with material. She does not take attendance but it is still mandatory in a sense, because if you don't attend you will fail. She moves at a fast pace which can be difficult to keep up with. If you are good at math you should get an easy A with her.
Really great teacher. She explains everything so well and makes sure you understand why everything is being done a certain way. There's 3 exams that are worth 75% of the grade that are really hard. She doesn't give much partial credit so you have to really work for it. Take home quizzes should cushion your grade but not much
Nancy is a great professor but beware that there is nothing else besides tests and quizzes that will be counted towards your final grade. There is no final exam which is a plus but you have 3 exams within the semester.
Nancy is a great person and a great professor and truly does care about her students. It is a difficult course but she does her best to help you understand the material and is always available for extra help if you need her.
Nancy is a good teacher, very strict grading policy. Doesn't give out many handouts or things to study from, do not skip class or you will have trouble. Her office hours are at 7-8am so make sure you're ahead on your work and you'll be fine. Hard class but nice teacher who explains things at a good pace
You need to remember that you will be graded by only quizzes and exams. Knowing this, make sure you study for them and ask questions. She is patient with students and will answer any questions you give her.
Nancy's class is hard, but she makes it easier for you to understand by going step by step. She's really accessible outside of class at a convenient time for the student, but if you need the help she's always there to give it. She's a great professor and gives you an equation sheet for every exam and quiz, its really nice.
Several quizzes and exams but gives you a formula sheet for every single one. She is very nice and cares about her students. Although the material is hard she goes step by step to explain but she also reminds her students that it is their effort as well that reflects on the grade. I have taken two classes with her and I enjoy her teaching style.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Extremely hard grader and makes things 10x more harder than it has to be. There is no textbook so everything is from her, which makes it impossible. Read directions very carefully because she makes them confusing. Be very careful when doing exams because she takes away a ton of points for little things.
Worst professor I have ever had. Hard grader, impossible to reach outside of class, rude, and does not give any helpful suggestions for her assignments. She makes you feel dumb whenever you ask a question and does not know what extra credit is. Do not take her class if possible.
This class and Nancy were both awful. Instructions for exams/ quizzes outside of class are incredibly confusing due to her poor choice of wording. Overcomplicates everything. Doesn't seem to grasp the concept of partial credit, overly strict grading policy. Gives little to no feedback, and what she does give is non descriptive and unhelpful.
I agree with some previous comments about Nancy's tough grading criteria. It is stressful at times to follow her specific format, but she makes it clear what she expects. Communication outside of class wasn't always the clearest, but I learned in Nancy's class. Stats in general is a rather tedious subject, but Nancy was the best math teacher I had.
she would often waste the first 15 mins of class talking about SpaceX, which was really distracting and not why im in college. when we went online, she would stay muted and ignore all our help, she would just give up and cancel class expecting us to learn on our own. again, not what I paid for. she wouldn't help when I had questions about assignmen
I don't know why she is still allowed to "teach" because she isn't slightly passionate about it. She is too lazy to grade the minimal assignments included in the overall course grade correctly because she doesn't award partial credit. I recommend avoiding enrolling in a class taught by this professor if possible.
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews here recently. She may have a tough grading system, but I feel that she did her best to teach us real world statistical analyses.
One of the worst professor Ive ever had. She doesn't care about her students. Your only grades are from your 3 exams, 3 quizzes and 2 assignments. Her grading system is so terrible. I would NOT recommend taking a class with her.
Doesn't understand the internet, makes you submit all assignments through email. doesn't use the assignments tab on brightspace. Not willing to accept late work.
When it comes to doing online classes it's a nightmare. She takes off points for dumb reasons, (i.e took off points for not putting answers in ascending order, which was not specified in question) Super rude and not willing to be understanding with students during COVID times. Anyways, she doesn't give feed on any work unless requested.
Beausoleil was a great professor. She taught the material in a clear and concise manner but was a very tough grader. Make sure you study the way she says to solve problems because if you stray from the template, you get points deducted even if you have the right answer.
If she is your only option for a professor, I recommend waiting a semester to take the class. Poor teaching ability, harsh grader, takes off points arbitrarily, does not give any feedback on work. Online classes with her are a NIGHTMARE. She is Super rude, disrespectful, and not willing to be understanding with students even during COVID.
This class is an easy A if you watch the lectures. All lectures are recorded and posted later for viewing and attendance isn't mandatory so you technically never need to show up. Three exams and a few quizzes; all very easy if you have the formulas to look back at. Will be taking another class with her.
Clearly does not enjoy her job and likes to take it out on her students, taking off points for dumb reasons etc. needless to say I will not be taking another class with her. I would rather take an 8am if I have to.
She made this class wayyyy harder than it needed to be, wish I took it with someone else but managed to get through ok
Difficult to follow. Normally with a confusing professor like her I would be able to study on my own and get an A, but of course she refuses to make study guides despite exams making up all of the grades. She wants you to figure it out through the homework but is never available to help if you need it. Would not recommend.
The negative reviews kind of scared me at first, but I thought she was a great professor. She is clear in her lectures and doesn't give you any surprises on the exams/quizzes. The only downside is the lack of grades you get (3 exams, 2 quizzes, 2 assignments), but if you practice before the exam and ask questions you will be perfectly fine.
She is the WORST. I have never gotten below an A in a class and I am on track to getting a low B just because of of her. She doesn't post notes, she takes thirty minutes to get to the point, she doesn't like to be emailed. She is mean, stubborn, snotty, unhelpful, boring, and the worst professor Ive ever had. Her tests are harder than any other 211
I have taken her for BUS210 and 211 and she takes some getting used to. She posts the lectures on Brightspace the day after the class so you can skip class and watch them the next day. She takes a long time to get through to the point, but when she does she explains it clearly. Overall, easy is you just pay attention. She doesn't grade homework.
I am almost positive she doesn't actually grade quizzes/exams. You can have the exact same answer as someone else and still get it wrong. She loves to mention that "you should've learned this in basic stats" and that if you don't understand "it's your problem and there's nothing I can do about it." Glad I am almost done with this class.
Lecture heavy, make sure you go to class. Gave me extra points to give me a c- so not much to complain about here.
Great professor
Not a good teacher, met up with her in office hours and was a complete waste of time. Deflects teaching certain things by saying "Shoulda learned it in basic stats". Take anyone else
Nancy is one of the best professors I have had so far. She genuinely cares for her students and teaches the class with a passion. The class itself is easy, just show up to class and go to her office hours. I have taken her fro BAI210 and took her lecture again for BAI211.
