Has no style of teaching! Justs reads from powerpoints presentaions and expects people to get A's. Class average 53% Avoid at all costs.
How did this lady ever become a teacher??? Very unclear, unhelpfull, and unkind. Rude and doesn't understand students " questioning" her. If you EVER get this instructor switch to another class immediatly or you'll regret it.
I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I got an A, and it's not like I studied THAT much. She's a good teacher. I think slackers might be blaming her for their own lack of studying...pff...slackers
lays out information clearly, and does a lot of examples in class and in seminars. easy class if you're willing to do the practice questions
She is very unapproachable, goes through course material super fast, with not many examples at all. Doesn't understand students at all. Switch Teahers if you get her!!!
ehhh...she's not the worst out there, but her teaching is fairly uninspiring, tests are embarassingly easy though, not because of her teaching, she just practically hands you the questions that are going to be on the exams.
She goes through the material too fast, and her lectures are hard to sit through, the material is too dry.
Not a horrible teacher, she knows the material. Hate the remote controls she makes us use on tests, and midterms. I paid to go to school not on some sort of gameshow. The course overall is easy and by reading the text you can pass with high marks.
She doesnt give enough examples in her questions and her midterms are too hard.
I thought she was pretty good. Her exams were quite easy and her teaching was easy enough to follow. Pay attention in class and ask questions and you'll be fine. Power-point print-outs helped a lot.
disorganize
A little disorganized in 204, but very organized in 195. Here exams were easy if you went to the seminars and the classes had no assignments. Not bad overall. I'd take her again
loved nancy in 190. 204 she was so disorganized, didnt help that she hated the book we were using and couldnt understand it herself. she has mastered 190 but i would not suggest to take her for any other classes.
Nancy is a good teacher. She is willing to give students a break when needed. I did very good in her class...but I'd say I'm bad at economics!
Nice instructor and the exams are easy...Good
She's excellent. Although sometimes unorganized, she makes everything seem simplistic and she doesn't beat around the bush when explaining. She also is very helpful and is willing to take the time with her students.
Kudos to Nancy.

Very good. She does her best to make the material seem interesting (not that easy to do). No surprises on the exams, tests exactly what she teaches, explains things as simply as possible.
Just take her courses, the examples she used are very vivid and easy to understand. also she is very approachable and willing to help. just prepare the exercises before exam, you'll pass with a high score. In sum, she is a nice teacher, worth to take her class.
She was great for Managerial Economics. Knew the material, and knew how to teach it. I especially liked how mathematically oriented she was - always cut straight to the point. If you do the assignments and practice questions, you will do well in class.
Great teacher ever ~~~!!!!
Awesome teacher. Her marking is great. If you do better on the final than on your midterms, she omits your midterms.
Nancy provides a lot of examples in her lectures, and is always helpful if you dont find the topics very clear. If you do better on the final she omits the midterms :)
A lot of examples are provided which helps a ton. Only thing is that two midterms and a final are what the grade is determined by. However she does omit midterms if final raises the grade! She's a great teacher, very helpful and extremely nice
Found her to be very unapproachable. Information was clearly presented but very uninterestingly. A lot of independent study was required.
I didn't know what Econ was before I got to the class and I still don't. I found that having only two test through out a 4 month semester was just insane. With a new subject it was VERY hard for me to remember all of this new information that I have never seen before in my life. Thank god I dropped the class. Math 107 before hand should be required
Very dry and boring. Thank god there was a Starbucks nearby. She killed my interest in Economics
Not quite sure how I feel about her. I found her very difficult at first, but her final exam was not bad. She is very clear and precise although sometimes I think she overestimates her students ability to learn the material. She really flies through it tossing out difficult terms. Easy to understand and willing to answer questions-overall Good!
Although she is very boring to listen to, print off her moodle notes to make the course easier, as thats all she uses in class. Teaches the necessities, and tests on questions from moodle.
She was extremely boring but her moodle notes and questions were helpful. The text book was not necessary for the course.
Very fair teacher. If final exam score was higher than midterms she shifted the weight to final for grade. Presentation of some material was dry, but very clear about what would be on exams.
Nancy is the worst Econ prof I have ever had. She is quiet, can't explain material very well and when you don't understand, that's pretty well it. Her tests are fair, but useless if you can't understand her class materials. Get out of the class before you do your GPA harm.
Very nice but a little bit awkward sometimes. Her midterms were open note in her first year class and while she has some difficult explaining certain material she is an above average teacher
So boring and unhelpful. Said she wouldn't post notes for us because "she was tired". We all are ! You're getting paid for this class, do your job.
This teacher is terrible didnt complete all the class material, have MANY errors in her answer keys she gave to exercises which confuses students when studying. When asked to put up a review for the final she said she was "too tired". Assignments were not returned in town for the midterm/final so students had no way of knowing where they stand.
honestly. the school should fire her.
Honestly she's not a bad teacher. If you actually come to class, and take the time to do all the assignments you'll be laughing during the exams. I do see where people say she's confusing though, so the thing is you need to be a little bit capable yourself to understand her.
I were very BAD in MIDTERMS. If you do very well in your final she will ignore midterms. Final exam covers all chapters. She is good teacher. Focus more to teach concepts. I got A+.
Nancy is a super nice lady and makes class somewhat enjoyable. Don't be fooled by her demeanor, tests are pretty hard and you will have to prepare yourself by learning lots outside of class. Her lectures can get really boring and some days you feel like you did not learn anything. She also allows cheat sheets on her exams, these are very helpful.
Absolutely terrible. The tests are completely random and not even what she covered in class. Avoid her AT ALL COSTS.
Super confusing notes. Tests are not what you expect.
Awful. Can't find examples like her questions anywhere on Google, doesn't explain concepts clearly, acted confused about why students do badly on quizzes, gave a midterm without enough time to finish, didn't answer e-mails, doesn't give half marks, not enough information in questions to find answers. She's terrible. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
If you take Nancy for Managerial Econ, you're gonna have a bad time. She's awful, she forgot to order textbooks for us, her notes and slides on Moodle are abysmal and her tests include stuff you've never seen before. Her midterms will have no multiple choice but then you'll show up to the final and half of it is MC that you cant prepare for. Avoid!
Choose her!!! Do not choose Latif and Peter Dalley in this course. Her exams are similar to her material (specially homework) She teaches very clearly although you might not really understand, you still can do well on the exams.
Never failed a class before this one. She was so unhelpful, unorganized and dull. She was't even around for office hours the two weeks prior to the final so no help there. In class work was all examples but then the midterms and final were all multiple choice. If you want to actually know what economics is, don't waste your time with her.
Seriously, just do the practice homework, because the midterms and final are identical to the practice material. Easy A+, she was super nice, and respects you if you actually try before complaining. Like any class, you actually have to practice the material to get better at it.
Hard class but she is very very good at explaining concepts and using realistic examples.
I got in a car accident heading home from this class a week before the final exam. I tried to email her to explain my circumstances. She didn't answer my email (I gave her 5 days) so I went to the final exam on painkillers and with 7 ice packs strapped on. Later another prof told me I could get an extension for finals. But she was of no help at all
Her Encon 1900 is esay to take, but not Encon 2900. Her class is boring and with example, but you can do well with her test and quiz with her class. And all she gives is handnote. Even testbook wont help you. She does not have partice problem. So if you want to pass it. It depends you know it or you retake it.
She explain very clear in her class. On the test, it everything when she talking in class, not really hard if you study. I will take her again in the future.
She's terrible. Scattered, flips back and forth with her papers while making zero sense. My dog could do a better job teaching this class.
Good teacher and she knows what she is talking about. The mid terms are fair and you'll need to study. Lots of people around me failed midterms but it's a class you'll need to study to fully understand. Questions are good and there when you need to ask personal questions.
Great professor, had a blast in this course. Lots of great examples and real life situations so you had a better understanding of the concepts taught. If you don't understand economics though i would suggest doing something about that because this class wont help with that.
Seems boring but class time passes quick as she does lots of examples in class.... If you do better on the final she omits previous grades.
She will help you if you ask for it. she gives assignments and quizzes which are super helpful for the midterms. She doesnt try and trick you, if you put the time in you will do just fine. Also if you do bad on the midterms she will give you your final exam mark as your final mark if it is higher.
she was best teacher, She gives 2 assignments and 2 quizze which really helpful for midterm. She will help you a lot if you miss understand and go to her office. I take her Econ 1900, econ 2320 and now econ 2900 which 3 classes in 3 semesters in a row. I feel not bored, she so helpful. I will take her class's econ 3040 in the future
Nancy's class is amoungst the easiest I have ever taken at TRU. I don't even bother taking notes and have gotten an A+ on every test and assignment. All you have to do is show up and listen. She's a very attractive woman and intelligent economist and I enjoyed her class. I would definitely take another class taught by her if given the opportunity.
Good prof, If you go to all of her classes it isn't hard to get a good grade. Very helpful in and out of class and has no problem spending extra time on certain areas if you ask. (Example: if there was a common mistake she saw on a quiz/mid term/assignment she'll go through the question and break it down in class) Very caring.
Econ is a hard subject, but I definitely enjoyed having Nancy as a prof. She did a good job explaining the concepts, and was accessible for extra help outside of class. I would gladly take her classes again!
She was incredibly thorough with what she expects from you as a student, I enjoyed this class as she does make sure she is explaining everything in a way that you understand. Just pay attention and you'll succeed.
Nancy is a great prof. If you show up and pay attention you will do just fine. A great Econ prof.
doesn't explain things clearly at all, learned more from the people sitting next to me than from Nancy.
Stats is a pretty boring class and Nancy doesn't make it any better. Her projector method of teaching is scattered and can be hard to read. She's willing to help if you have questions so ask. She provides a lot of examples on Moodle so practice those and you should be fine.
She wants you to pass and will help you, but you have to work for it
Nancy is a fairly decent professor at TRU. She's forgiving when it comes to marks and wants to help you earn the grade that you deserve. Make sure to show up to every class and pay attention the best you can as Nancy reads off slides and is soft spoken so it can be easy to lose focus. As long as you put some extra studying in, you will do well.
If u know how to do the assigments and quizes, good to go
Nancy is a terribly boring lecturer but if you make it through her tests are fair and she well prepared you for the final. Would take again because she wants all of her students to succeed
Do all her practice worksheets and multiple choice to help prepare for the midterms. The material is DRY so I understand that it's probably painful to teach at some points so no judgment. She weights the final more if you do better than the midterms so stick with it even if you bomb the midterms!!
A bit disorganized and not very exciting to listen to (very soft monotone voice she has that makes you fall asleep). Tests are very hard, but she allows to use a cheat sheet that helped a lot during the exams. She usually changes all the practice problems, so writing them down on the cheat sheet doesn't work unless you understand them.
In class, it was hard to follow along and understand the material. However, she always made herself available outside of class time and would critic her teaching style to match your personal learning style.
She is a very nice teacher, but can be very boring and monotone. I was always clueless in the class because of how quite and boring it was, but other then that, she's very nice and respects all her students and helps the best she can.
Nancy is a sweet lady although she makes it very difficult to listen during lectures due to her monotone and quiet voice. However she makes herself available for extra help when needed. Not attending would make this class very challenging. Use the practice questions she posts on Moodle, her midterms and final are quite similar to the questions.
Nancy is a very caring teacher and she makes sure that the students are understanding the topic. She did her best this semester despite it being online. The only negatives I would say is that there were too many tests for this class. We had 4 tests in total and it was a lot, considering we had to continuously study for the class.
Nancy did a good job this semester despite the course being online. She was available for extra help, listened to us when we needed more time or support to complete assignments, and communicated regularly. Some of my other professors were much less available during pandemic courses. Regular assignments kept me on track.
I asked for an extra credit assignment after a poor midterm (with over a month left of classes) and she said she just didn't have the time for it, and 'I'll hopefully do better on the final.' She also talks about having a high fail rate in her class. If everyone's failing, maybe it's not just the students.
I don't like to give people 1's, but I had a terrible time in Nancy's class. The course was disorganized and her teaching was all over the place. I felt helpless in the class, even when I asked for it. If I was taking a course and it got switched to her I would drop it in a heartbeat.
- Doesn't have any powerpoint at all. She teaches using docs. Very unhelpful. - Very inefficient teaching strategy - Didn't learn anything from her at all - Heavy exams - Only a few pass - Don't take her class or else you'll waste your money
Boring, Doesnt know how to teach, No powerpoint, VERY hard exams, Dont waste your money
Worst professor, way too boring, goes word to word through book, nothing from her knowledge or experience, can hardly hear what she says
She reads off of a word document and doesn't explain anything well at all, and she's bad at answering questions too. the content barely relates to forestry. I took it over the other options bc i was told its good for RPFs, and I regret the choice every day. if you're in NRS you'd be better off taking land use or climate change economics.
Nancy has been pretty bad and it seems as if she cannot communicate her upper level courses “Forestry” she explains to herself only content that she understands and is more concerned about finishing a syllabus and not taking time to understand the student I've had a bad time in her class.
I wouldn't recommend her class. It was disappointing, boring lectures, poor explanations, and unnecessarily complicated equations. When I asked questions, she first answered but later dismissed me, saying I should already know statistics if I'm in her class.
Great stats teacher. Gave lots of review sessions and allowed cheatsheets
DO ALL OF THE EXCERSIZES! They are exactly what are on the tests. Yes, there are soo many of them but it will set you up for success. She is a very boring lecturer and is very monotone, but she teaches exactly what you need to know for tests. The exercises are your key to success.
