Dr. Collier is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met. The class was really upfront and easy to follow until she got to the molecular orbital theory. Be warned that the final is MUCH harder than the tests she gives throughout the semester...
she is the nicest teacher. she is very good at explaining things and she will help you anytime.
Professor Collier is a great teacher! She really goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material. I would take any class taught by her, and I highly reccommend her to anyone else!
easiest class ever! you can eaasily gey A, she is so nice and kind, but not so knowlegeble
I love this lady!
Very helpful.
She is the nicest person you'll ever meet! She's also a super teacher! If you have a question, she'll make sure you understand the material before the test. She also has a great sense of humor! Try signing her attendance sheet with an alias... Absolute best ever!
AMAZING LADY! She is definantly the nicest person I have ever met OR even had as a professor! I recommend her to anyone! Her class can get hard at times, but she goes out of her way to help you!
On of the best teachers i've ever had. She is always willing to help and goes far beyond any other teacher in ensuring your success
Perfect!
This lady is amazing! she is so helpful and sweet. Shell go out of her way to make sure everyone is doing good and gets sad when people do poorly. I highly recomend her
Helpful and nice. I think these should be mandatory qualities of any college professor. There is a lot the meramec professors could learn from her.
I dropped Chemistry in high school - I couldn't understand it at all. The course I took with Dr. Collier was the harder introductory course in Chemistry, and she was so helpful that I not only understood the material, but I also got an A in the class.
Dr. Collier is amazing! She is always willing to help and is very understanding. I recommend her to anyone, especially if chemistry isn't your best subject.
Best teacher I have had so far! Wants you to succeed. Truly concerned about her students in every aspect. I learned alot in her class because she pushed us all to learn.
This is a great all-around teacher. I'm not sure I learned much the whole semester or if any of the material I learned was applicable to my career, but that's not her fault. It's UMSL's fault for making me take the class. She is very nice and goes extremely out of her way to help her students in any way possible.
Mrs. Collier is one of the most caring and helpful professors I have ever had. Chemistry is not one of the easiest subjects to learn and sometimes it takes patience and concern. If you are worried about Chemistry at all, take it with Mrs. Collier. As long as she thinks you are trying, she will see that you do well.
Very understanding and caring professor. Probably one of the best if you ever have her. She is willing to take out the time to help you if you need it. All you have to do is ask and she is not intimidating at all. She is such a nice professor, she really cares about what shes teaching and whos shes teaching.
really cares about her students and sees to it that they get all the help they need, she is more than happy to answer questions, i would recommend her
The BEST chemistry teacher I have ever had. She is really helpful and is always there whenever you need her. Wish i could have her for all of my chemistry!!!. Her tests gradually get harder and watch out for multiple choice. Best teacher that I will surely miss!!
Dr. Collier is the most supportive proffessor I've ever had. She helps whenever possible and she ensures everyone has the tools necessary for passing the class. I've had to take higher level chemistry courses and she prepared me well. Her tests covered the material well but she does make you think! Highly recommended!
The posted comments about Professor Collier are true: she is challenging but very supportive. She takes time for to help students who have difificulty with the material. Mind you, Chem 105 is a challenging course. She inspires students to succeed because you can feel her own deeply vensted interest in teaching.
I loved her. She was an extremely nice person and encouraged her students to succeed. She was always willing to help and was very understanding. She actually cared to get to know her students. Taking it in the summer was time consuming, but it was worthit. And she wanted me to contact her after my future chemistry courses to see how I did in them
What a great teacher!!! She is so nice and helpful. She makes class very light and fun. If you ever have a question about a topic, she will always make time to help you understand.
She was awesome! Extremely helpful! Always took time to explain things. The only con about her is that her finals were harder than the regular tests. But she's still great!
awesome teacher. wants students to succeed.
You will definitely learn as much about chemistry as you want. Doctor Collier is totally there to guide and help you succeed. If you do the work you will pass.
She is an awesome teacher! If you are afraid of chemistry, she makes it possible to succeed. You need to do the homework and show up to class if you want an A unless Chemistry is easy for you.
Science is very hard for me, but Dr. Collier actually TEACHES chemistry, and is available when you have questions or problems outside of class time. She paces her course to that of the students - she makes sure that everyone keeps up. She uses participation & repetition, but never embarrassses anyone who doesn't know the answer. Upbeat & cheerful!
She is great at explaining this subject. She is also good at setting aside time for you if you need help.
Dr. Collier is an amazing teacher! I never had Chem before and since science is not my thing I was pretty worried about it. Dr. Collier is so kind and patient and explains everything very well. I ended up getting an A...take her class!
Awesome teacher. If you think you might have a hard time with chemistry she can help. She isent exactly easy, so dont think that. She is however very helpful and will work with you to help you pass the class. Best of all she acutally cares about her students and will always email or call you back no matter what! Shes awesome!!!
Week 1, hated Chemistry. Week 16, love it! Dr. Collier is fantastic... a genuinely nice lady who actually takes the time to teach, not just present the material. Bent over backwards to help her students succeed. She's the department chair, but hasn't forgotten what it's like to be a student taking their first Chemistry course. Highly recommend!!!
I had 0 interest in Chem& was scared of this class. Dr. Collier loves the subject, is incredible& really cares about her students. If you put the work in, she will do everything possible to help you understand the material. Shes not easy, but its absolutely worth it! I have a genuine interest in Chem now& learned a lot. I wont forget her. TAKE HER!
Awesome teacher. She throughly explains things to you.
One of the best teachers I've encountered. Goes out of her way to helpful and has a real gift for making a complex subject accessible. If you need to take Chem, take it with Dr. Collier. However, good is not the same as easy. Do not take Chem with any instructor if you are not prepared to study hard and attend class on a regular basis.
Very good professor! IF you are taking Chem for the first time, take Dr. Collier! Attend class every time!
The best teacher ever! If you really want to know chemistry take her, you wont regret!!!
she's a very nice professor, but i was not good in chemistry so it was difficult understanding her. She skips a lot of steps therefore you need to learn it on your own time. You definitely need a lot of studying time for the class. if you are taking Intermediate Algebra i suggest you not to take her. college algebra then youre ready.
Dr. Collier is incredibly intelligent in her field, but she might be too smart to continue to instruct entry level chemistry. She almost gets offended if material is not understood and if a student is struggling, she is more likely to suggest they drop the course instead of helping. Valuable class time is wasted with individual problem solving
Dr. Collier was amazing. If you need help understanding something then just ask and she'll do everything in her power to help you. Kind of a quirky person which only made her more lovable. Great for chem 101
The best teacher I have ever had! She is amazing and really helped me to understand chemistry. I would recommend her to anyone that has to take this class!!
is there any one better, or more caring that her in the campus? absolutely No! she is the Best! she's extremely student student friendly. she will stay longer than she supposed to stay, just to help you understand or to answer your questions. she gives you extra time on the test, so that you wouldn't rush your self. I love her so much, best ever!
I took Chem 101 with her. She is very nice, and does everything she can to help you understand the material. She explains everything thoroughly and is very patient with students. However, she tends to teach as if you are a child, and she is VERY monotone/boring to listen to. I HATE math/chem, but I tolerated (and PASSED) it with her help!
I was in her class for the summer session, right after Biology and Elementary Algebra. It was a tough road but I managed to somehow pull off a B. The pace was the most challenging but she does everything she can to help her students. She is very open to questions and extra explanations. I was given almost an extra hour to take my final exam. GREAT
honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. Just took this class over the summer (I go to a different four year institution) and I had a great experience. If you show up to class/lab and do the practice problems and exams you won't have an issue. She was also more than fair and was always willing to give back points if mistakes were made.
I took Chem101 over summer with Nancy. She was so nice and understanding. She wants everyone to do well and is always willing to help outside of class. Go to class, do the homework, practice problems and you'll pass.
10/10 would take again. She was probably one of the hardest professors I've taken in terms how strictly she grades, however she teaches the material very well. I took her gen chem class over summer and while it was a lot of work she made it easy.
Words CANNOT describe what a gem Collier is! She is so supportive and is for sure for the student's best interest! I got an A in her Chem class and honestly if it wasn't for her and her desire to help me I would not have gotten an A. You have to attend class. Not an easy class. You have to work for it. I worked hard for my success.
I really loved her class. You can tell she loves what she does based on how she teaches. She is energetic and funny when she teaches. Super nice. Would take again 100%
Great professor- just go to class.
I really enjoyed the class and she was helpful when I needed it.
I loved Mrs. Collier and if I could take her again, I would. I was not the best student and managed to pass. She is a brilliant person who cares about her students. She can be a tough grader because she wants to get you ready for the harder classes. I didn't have to use the book for this particular class but I probably should have.
Dr. Collier made chemistry enjoyable. She is very caring, and will help you before or after class if you ask for it. She provides study guides that you work through in class, and take home qizzes. Tons of material to study from on black board, practice tests, and multiple choice questions. Know the rules for significant figures.
Dr. Collier is the most amazing professor I have ever had! I was terrified of Chemistry because I struggle with math, but I finished her course with an A. She is eager to help and genuinely cares about the success of her students!
She is the most down to earth lady you will ever meet for a professor! She provides you with so much help as long as you ask for it! Text book use is at your own risk because its not a requirement. Make sure you attend lectures because you will not do well if you skip.
The most amazing teacher Ive ever had in my life!!!! If I could just have her teach me every class I would Shes very patient and sweet and goes over things over and over and so available to students out of class
Wonderful teacher, very engaging
To pass you already have to have a Chemistry backround or be familiar with the content.
My favourite teacher at the college! Shes the sweetest, most caring lady youll ever meet and is more than happy to help with absolutely anything as long as you ask. Highly recommend!!
I would absolutely recommend Professor Collier as a teacher. She is one of the warmest and sweetest professors you might find at STLCC, and she does a great job making difficult concepts easier to understand. I'm especially impressed by how well she transitioned the class from in person to online during the COVID pandemic. She's truly exceptional!
Mrs. Collier is a very caring teacher. She wants you to pass & is not extremely tough about grading. Lectures were sometimes confusing, lab was always fun. Weekly hw. Tests are long. Shes awesome about turning in late work for some credit, super understanding. Seems a little sassy at times but is a sweet and caring teacher which is SO REFRESHING.
Dr. Collier is one of the nicest professors I've had. Literally so sweet. The class can be difficult at times but doing the optional hw really helps. Even so, she's so nice with grading things and cares more about her students' learning than actual grades. Also SUPER easy to access outside of class. Fun labs.
SHE WAS GREAT! I RECOMMEND HER. She is clean about her expectations. Took course Spring 2021 semester.
Dr. Collier is a wonderful instructor- who was willing to put in the work for students during this difficult time for so many students- I highly recommend this teacher!
Professor Collier is an amazing professor! She is extremely organized with her course material and provides categorized notes for lectures, plus videos to watch outside of class. She may come off as sassy or passive aggressive, but in reality, she is a very sweet lady. The labs have clear instructions & are really fun with a good lab partner.
Very cold and standoffish. Very unhelpful. If you ask a question she will just tell you to study. Assumes you are there to be a nursing student if youre black (I'm a engineering major)
She likes to jump around from one chapter to another, making the learning process very confusing. She will briefly explain one concept and then she’s on to another one. The wording she uses for tests is also very open ended. Even she admits that her questions aren’t always clear.
Dr. Collier lectures about a lot of material and has a certain way of setting up problems to make them easier to solve. There is not a lot of homework, so the grade is based on labs, quizzes, and tests. Be prepared to study as the tests often have questions with multiple parts. Dr. Collier is easily accessible outside of class with office hours
She is an awesome instructor, she tells you everything that you need to know so that you can be prepared for what to expect from the class.
This professor is pretty great. She clearly goes over the material and gives a lot of practice problems and really trys to make sure you understand everything. She made good jokes! The only thing I didn't like is she would occasionally do cold calls which stress me out, personally.
Dr. Collier was an amazing teacher! I wish that I could have her again. She really took the time to get to know her students. She always made lectures and labs entertaining! She always gave great way to remember a specific topic! My only advice for her Chem 101 course is to ask yourself: Is It Strong?!?
Dr. Collier is likely one of the best professors at STLCC Meramec. I would take CHM101 again just to have her as a professor!!
Dr. Collier is the best professor at STLCC so far. This was my third time taking chemistry and she made it so easy. She actually cares if you pass her class and wants to see you succeed. If you apply yourself and show you are at least trying, she will give you the credit. The practice tests are identical to the real tests so do them!
I LOVED Dr. Collier! I would take any one of her classes just to have her again! She cared so much about what I was working towards and really wanted me to succeed in the class! She helped me bring my low B up to an A by the end of the semester. Hands down the sweetest person ever, TAKE HER CLASS! (also very understanding if you miss class or test)
Professor Collier is the best chemistry teacher I've had by far! She doesn't overwhelm you or make concepts harder to understand than they already are. You can tell she's passionate about what she teaches and really wants her students to succeed. Just go to class, attend labs, and stay on top of your work!
Dr. Collier is a very sweet professor. She is a tough grader though and often gives .5 points instead of the full 1 point. Attendance is VERY important, if you miss one lecture you feel really behind. Weekly homework worth 5 points too.
Please expect to have all your papers printed and prepared. When needing to know more about a subject don't hesitate to ask her for help but if still unclear look at the textbook or search it up on YouTube (helps break it down). Needing more practice, she posts practice worksheets and practice exams with answers. I swear doing them helps a lot.
One of the best teachers on earth. Easy to access outside of class, and WANTS you to pass. Extremely smart lady, but not pretentious. Lots of non-required worksheets, but do them if you want a good grade! Fast-paced and difficult class, but she will help you-- especially if you show you care about passing. Show up to class, or you'll be lost.
Dr. Collier was a great teacher and makes a class that is at first intimidating, very approachable and absolutely doable. She's easy to talk to if you need to go over something, and when it comes to grading she's understanding. Be prepared to print a lot of worksheets, but they make note taking so much easier.
Great professor. She truly wants her students to succeed and will help you to do so. She does a good job of breaking down complicated concepts. Quizzes due roughly every 2 weeks helps boost your grade (something outside of just relying on exam scores).
She doesn't like smart students, just be dum and learn, don't give your opinion. She's also discriminative, old and judgy if you ask her a lot of questions which she always has no answers too, her assignments on cavas are always full of errors and she makes corrections on all of them so ask before doing homework. She hates being asked don't ask.
She's the worst- just look for another professor unless you want free credits that you have not worked for as long as you can get her to like you. She likes smelling students and will make all excuses to get close to you. Mostly she pretends to be giving you one on one help so you can't notice if you don't pay close attention. Watch out.
If you do all of your assignments and showing up to labs then you should be good to go. Be sure to print out materials for class the next day for HW and exams so it can make life a bit easier. Her office hours are accessible so don't hesitate to go to them.
