If you want to get an F in this class then i highly recommend it, otherwise, if you are some kind of gifted genious you might get a C, so draw your own conclusions... She expects you to know everything.
I was signed up to take this class, but my friend and I went the first day and said no way. She is a wack job, take Dye instead.
She is the greatest! I have had her for 2 courses and I have learned so much. Yes, she expects you to know everything.
She really goes out of her way to help you.
She's the most helpful math teacher I've ever had. She goes way out of her way to help you understand it, but she expects you work hard because she too works hard.
Prof. Evans is the BEST math teacher I've ever had. She does a very good job of making sure her class understands the "whys" of how math works. She expects you to work hard, but it's because she wants you to succeed in calculus.
Excellent professor. Works harder than any teacher I've ever taken. Provides supplementary material as needed along with alternative explainations. Her Calculus classes are intended for people who will actually use Calculus someday.
Great math teacher. She makes sure that you can see *why* and how things work the way they do, and breaks it down to simple terms. I'd love to have her for Math 253 and up.
her tests are hard, but she will help you with some things, she expects you to know everything , if not you are on your own, if you love math like i do, she will make you hate it.
She's a nice and funny teacher and I felt that she cares. Unfortunately I'm not the greatest in math, and I barely passed with a C. To succeed, take a lot of notes, do the homework which counts for points, and go to office hours for extra help if needed.
Do yourself a favor and drop it now! Treats you like you are still in high school! Expects you to know how to do the problems already.
dont listen to anything these morons who bashed on her put up. she is an excellent professor and wants everyone to succeed. she's goes out of her way to help out as much as she can. if you do your homework and study at least 1-2 hours for each test, which there are only 3 of, ull get an A
this class was awful. shes really strict. if you are a chill person, seriously dont think about taking this class cause shes super anal. she'll drop u if she can and doesn't care why u are late and takes away tons of points. the tests are insane. drop, dont even take it
She is so cute!! Always explains things nicely..maybe too much detail, but really makes sure you understand! I am a math major and actually plan on taking her 3A class and hope she decides to teach linear algebra when I get there because she is so smart and knows so much!!
simple. 1st semester is easy. 2nd is hard. Teacher is almost neutral. Not overly positive or negative in any aspect. I got a B w/o even buying the book so i guess it wasn't too bad. I would recomend it cuz, hey, its math, how fun can it be? She's cool, class is just a little boring!
She is one of the worst teachers i have ever had. She recently got surgery on her arm so she has to write left handed on the board! Also cuz of her surgery she just gives handouts 4 notes which don't explain crap or give examples. Also anal about being late. dont take this class, her way or no way.

She does extra to help us.Collects homework that she writes help on, goes over our questions on homework and during class.Lectures, writes on board with clear explanation and examples.Takes questions during lecture.Sometimes gives extra examples and explanations on handouts. She cares that I get it.
She is the best math teacher I have ever had. i took the same class last semester and didn't even pass, but I got an A in her class. She is extremely helpful willing to go the extra mile. She explains everything perfectly and I am extremely greatful to her for teaching me and boosting my self esttee
These people that are bashing on her are stupid- if you show up to class and take notes you will pass the class...her tests are easier than the homework, and she just wants you to know the concepts, she doesnt try to trick you with hard problems. she is an awesome teacher, i failed it last semester and took her this semester and passed with an A to
I took this class online, but I would still compunicate with her through e-mail and she was very helpful. She is pretty easy and I always get bad grades in math but she gives you extentions on everything so its easy to pass. Plus she is a really sweet woman and she is pretty too.
She was the worst teacher i have ever had. Why is she so strict? I was forced to drop her class to avoid getting a D on my transcript. There is required homework everyday and she grades each assignment like a test. Insta-drop this class before its too late, She will slap you with a F without you even knowing it.

She is a very hard teacher, but, she explains EVERYTHING. If you had trouble in math she will show you the way things work correctly. I learned so much from her. Gives homework everyday but its pretty much notes to study with for tests.
I took her class last semester. Very helpful. She gives homework assignments which I like because then your grade isn't based only on tests. Shes a great teacher.
very difficult but very fair. I had to drop because 15 units and 50 hours of work a week just doesnt work. i would have failed, guaranteed. do the homework and ask tons of questions and you will pass. her tests make sure you understand the concepts and arent tricky
she is not what i expected, she thinks that is making us a favor everytime that we ask for homework questions.Do not take her there is better teachers.
She's extremely nice but she is also extreeemeely strict. She's a hard teacher. Good luck, study haarrrrdd.
She's extremely dedicated to her teaching. If you ask questions on your homework she'll answer all of them. Tests are pretty basic, nothing tricky. Just 2 big tests and a final. No quizzes, HW is worth a little bit of points.
she is as boring as it can get. i dread going to class every other day because of her monotone yet congested voice. tests are hard, because everything must be done her way.
Great teacher. She gets straight down to business but really cares whether or not her students understand the material. She dedicates many hours outside of the class to help those who do not. If math is not your strong area, she is a great teacher to take.
She knows her stuff and explains it clearly. Takes questions and tries other explanation if you don't get the first. I didn't like math before having her - but now I get it and it isn't bad. She was positive in our class and didn't waste time on stuff other than math - don't understand the other 253 comment. She works hard and expected us to.
I had professor Evans for 3a 3b and 26. simply she is amazing. She goes to any length to make her students successful. She is the best that out there guys. You must do the homework its for your own good. Nancy is caring, supportive teacher. She is always ready to help her student. I give her an A++ as a grade. I can say it was my lucky day when I
She isn't kind to everyone. If she tells you that you need to see her on her office hours, be careful because she will insult you to your face behind closed doors. She's a totalitarian dictator towards her students. If you aren't learning the way she wants you to learn she'll threaten to make you drop. If she treats you badly report it to the dean
i have never failed anything, and did not pass her class. i wanted to go up to her one day in front of my class and ask her in as rude of a tone as she uses with her students "excuse me-are we in COLLEGE?!?! no need for the beep of your watch to tell us when class is over" annoying and not understanding are what come to mind. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSE
Prof. Evans answers questions and offers help beyond class. There's a boy who has a serious attitude against her and us. But she doesn't put up with disrespect against any of us. I'm passing the class - didn't think I would, but with her help, I am.
Excellent teacher! She is very helpful. She spends the full class period teaching. She has so many tricks to help memorize and understand concepts. Math makes sense after she has taught it!!! Plus she'll go over past math concepts during office hours if you need extra help.
Walking into Nancy's class everyday was such a beautiful time in my life. Nancy is just a fantastic person. She is also easy on the eye...if you know what i mean. Her class is pretty difficult but with her private sessions, she is very helpful.
There is no doubt that she is at times unpleasant and difficult. And I could not stand going to class sometimes.BUT she prepares you for Math 253 so well. I know I would be struggling in Math 253 if I hadn't taken 251 with her.Though for this to work you must attend her class and complete all of the homework. You have to put in effort, its not magic.
Extremely helpful. Truly cares for her students. Not an easy A. Checks HW for grade. Kind and clear spoken. Great teacher.
I have never failed a math class or even a class before, but hers was the very first one. She made everything very difficult and always made us solve equations her way, not my way, Extreamley hard, collects homework everyday, tests/quizes all the time, really mean teacher. If math is not your best subject don't take this teacher!
If you expect college math to be easy then you're crazy. The reason she takes in homework is to insure that her students are attemping to understand the conceps she teaches. Nancy truely wants you to get a good grade; she will stay after class and explain any question you have. You will learn something in her class; BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!
Mean teacher... well, I mean people that like to be insulted and told to drop this class on a daily basis will probabley like this teacher, but for the students that are actually looking for support and motivation in a subject that they are not good in, well thay should not take this teacher, easy subject but this teacher made it a nightmare!
Nancy is very kind and helpful. Definitely one of the best math teachers. Go to class, she answers all questions you have on the homework. Must do the homework, it's graded but that's probably a good idea anyway. Four tests and a final, but if you get A's on all four tests then you dont have to take the final at all. Awesome lady!
She loves insulting her students and always complains in front of the class at how many people should drop because she will fail them. And during her office hours she will insult u and criticize u till u go mad. Not a very supportive teacher, wants problems done only HER way, very stingy on attendance. Made math a living, well u know what!
She's really good if you like math. She's probably the best math teacher I've had.
Very articulate and helpful professor. She knows math very well and will go beyond the common textbook knowledge. If you are willing to work hard, do hw, and LEARN, then take her. She used to teach at UCI& other universities. You are getting a good deal here at Saddleback!...TAKE HER & DO UR HW!...
She loves teaching math! Very patience. She will help you whenever you got stuck! She assigns HW (only certain problems- not so much), HW are due on Mondays. Very fair test grader!!!
Take HER!!! THE BEST MATH TEACHER @ SADDLEBACK!!! She'll do anything to help you success in class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take her if you want to succeed in calculus.!
Amazing teacher. She loves to teach math. I learned so much from her that I now know all fundamentals of Calculus. Very patient and helpful. Go to her office hours - she'll help you all the way.
Homework mandatory and selected problems turned in weekly. 3 tests and a final. Get three A's and you dont have to take the final. Do all the homework problems over again before the tests and you'll get an A. She is as clear as they come and also really nice but doesnt tolerate distractions which is a good thing. Highly recommended.
She is a teacher than does not shy you away from office hours, and when you are there she truly helps you. I thought calculus was going to be my end, but she made the subject clear and easy to learn.
Extremely nice, wants to see you succeed.Lectures are straight to the point and homework is mandatory.writes a tough test. but always states when her office hours are and encourages you to go. During office hours she'll answer any questions and walk you through it slowly to make sure you get it.class takes dedication, but she is an excellent teacher
I LOVE HER<3 I took her 3A&3B classes and really enjoyed taking them. She's extremely nice and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!
Tough Teacher, but VERY proficient. If you want to learn math, she is the best teacher. Hoemwork is required. Tests are tough. She makes you work hard but I would highly recommend her. She taught me a lot.
Has you buy the book, and then discredits the book, reporting "poor quality." Won't let you follow along in the book during class! Went to "office hours", sent me home telling me to re-study pre-algebra. Try not to fall asleep while she waists class proving her self-proclaimed math genius, her example; buying a home with a view.
The class is no joke. Evans is helpful but goes way too fast, practice daily or you wont pass unless this is a breeze to you
Very fast paced pre-calculus class, study and do the homework or be doomed. She is a very good teacher and she has clearly stated office hours where she will gladly help you step by step. She chooses fairly easy test problems. In a nutshell, this class summarizes all of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and filling in what you need for calculus.
Great and very in-depth teacher. She explains everything very clearly every step of the way. The homework will help tremendously to prepare you for the tests. She has a true passion for teaching and a love for her students. Study, pay attention, and ask questions in class and she will help you with anything.
She is a wonderful professor. She's above board, IMO. She is very efficient, has a passion for her work, teaches not only how to work out a problem but why it is the way it is, connects with the students, and is thorough in preparing you for you next math class. She doesn't allow calculators and teaches you how NOT to use one. Don't be late, do the homework, pay attention and ask questions. She is always available in office hours. I love her! can't wait to have her for 3B.
Definitely wouldn't want to have her in another class. She teaches like if it was a high school class and is extremely rude. She keeps demeaning those who have slightly forgotten some 3A and loves to elevate herself. She knows her material but appears to look down on those who don't. Simply was no use to me. Learning all through the book.
She tells you that if you dont think youll pass the class to drop it right away and not take it. Then after the drop date she told us that based on pass classes if you got a D or F on the first test youre not passing. Teachers are supposed to encourage, no discourage. You cant even ask if one little particular thing is on a test. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is a tough tough tough professor. However, if you can get past her nasty side comments, she's a wonderful teacher. Don't take her insults so personally, I think she's great. She explains everything clearly and she extends as much of her time to students as much as she can. I would take her for another math class.
Mrs. Evans is an extremely helpful teacher! She does expect you to know your algebra and trig well, but she will help you tons! We only needed to turn in one lab and she replaces your final with your lowest exam score. Also has a dorky yet funny sense of humor. Class is hard, but that's just Calculus. She really helps you understand the concept!
Proff. Evans is probably the most knowledgeable professor ive taken taken. And no, i'm not one of those nerds who loves math! Shes willing to go out of her way to help you succeed in class. Theres not one problem she won't answer. Show up to class, take notes, do your hw (not hard) and STUDY. Tests are straight forward like the hw. Nothing tricky.
She will go out of her way & help you. Do NOT ask her what will be on the test because she gets upset. The tests are basically the same as the homework. She doesn't want anybody to fail, so she will let you know if its a good idea to drop. I reccommend her if you are willing to study. Attendace is mandatory.
She is willing to help you when you need it, but you're screwed if you don't have the time. She messed up on examples a lot and often becomes hard to understand during lectures. If you want to do well I suggest going through problems in the book and going over homeworks. If you don't understand a problem just ask her and try to follow along.
Prof Evans has afforded more respect to her students than any teacher I've ever had, and understands that "life happens". She'll only teach courses where she can go into the deeper "why" behind things; while deeply rewarding, realize this may be very challenging if you're used to "plug and chug" styles of thinking. I strongly recommend taking her.
Her class was so hard. Do not take it. Repeat "DO NOT TAKE IT" If you dont believe me, see it yourself.
Dunno about other people rating her, but she is an amazing professor. I had her twice. She is very helpful and not at all hard to understand. She is also very forgiving and kind. Lowest exam score is replaced for the final if final grade is higher. DEFINITELY work out problems after lecture. You'll fall behind easily. Amazing professor in my books!
She is a real teacher. If you are looking for real learning she is highly recommended.
The fact that this teacher almost has a 4.0 rating is beyond me. 50 something kids to start the class, 15 to end with. Most discouraging teacher I've had in my entire life.
if you want to be told to drop the class almost every week, sure go ahead and take her.
such a mean and hard teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT A W ON YOUR TRANSCRIPT
Professor Evans is a Great professor. You must do the homework. Very in depth, her focus it to make you understand calculus not just 'plug into the equation'. She truly cares about her students and getting them to pass. She has a lot of office hours and will make individual appointments when needed.
Honestly, professor Evans's teaching methods were extremely hard to follow. Going to her class was like going to prison for 2 and a half hours, 2 days out of the week. She makes it extremely hard for students to succeed and makes learning math more of a challenge than it really needs to be. Take this teacher if you want to fail miserably :)
Very very hard class, but that's just calculus. She wants everyone to do well bit will not sugar coat it if you should drop. She focuses on the "why" not just how to do problems. Very demanding class but she is a really nice lady
Very in depth, and professional teacher. She understands the material, and knows how to teach it. She also makes valid recommendations in regards to whether you need to go back and relearn some basics. She's a real teacher and this is a hard subject (calculus). If you follow her instructions you will become good at math.
Very stuck up and demeaning. Lectures very very fast. Tests are impossible. Dont take her class
Not clear at all. Jumps from concept to concept with no clear introduction or formulas. I love math but I hated this class
Appreciated her feedback. She spends a lot of time grading and giving feedback. Go to her office hours. She knows her math a on a deep level, and understand whats going on. She can be strict in the classroom with phones etc... But overall I learned a LOT! Take her if you are taking more math.
Goes from exact start of class to the last minute of class with straight lecture. Most of the time its confusing but she will explain deeper if needed which can sometimes help. Homework is a must and is graded very thoroughly. Attendance is a must. Nice lady, but wouldn't take her class again... too confusing.
She is a tough teacher, but only because she really cares. If you are willing to put in effort and show up to class, it is noted. She is the only teacher I have ever had that will thoroughly explain concepts as in depth as she does. If you want to mess around the whole time and text, this isn't the class for you. Put in work and you'll earn an A.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Professor Evans! By far the best math teacher at Saddleback. Before taking her, I was okay with math. After taking calculus with her, I feel I have a deeper understanding of math. Goes super in depth with her lectures and tells you HOW and WHY math works. Also, she dedicates her full office hours to help students. Wonderful lady.
If you are looking for an easy A do not take her. She assigns A LOT of homework and her tests are difficult if you do not understand the 'why' behind all the calculus techniques. I recommend taking this class if you are going to be majoring in physics or mathematics.
