Boring class. If you do not like the subject of Biology, do not take her. Tests are hard, but if you study periodically, and not cram the night before, you will pass. Begin studying 1 1/2 to 2 wks before test, and you will do well. Make sure to study notes every day b/c of pop quizzes.
She gives the hardest test out of any biology lab teacher there is. there are pop quizzes everyday and her attitude is like "you should all have A's this class is easy" when its REALLY not.
Extremely hard!! She's not understanding at all. She thinks everyone should love bio and understand it as well as she does. She has a very bad attitude and you can tell she doesn't want to be teaching.
She doesn't make things clear but everything on the test is memorization. You don't have to understand it just memorize it. You just have to study a week in advance, too. She is interesting but her class sometimes isn't.
this class really flat out sucks. it was easy part of the time but about half way through the semester it got really hard. she isnt clear at all and the class is pure memorization. her tests can be pretty hard especially if you are unprepaired. i used to like biology, but know im looking for a way not to take another one...
Goes from one thing to another and then to something else then back again. really unorganized. first hapf of sem is so easy then it hits hard.
She is very easy, she always gave us bonus quizzes. She can be unorganized with her notes on the board, but if you ask her she will explain what she means. Her tests are easy if you study. I made B's on all 3 tests and still had a 96 going into the exam b/c of bonus points (and I hate bio)and I know someone who had a 102 going into the exam.
I really liked Mrs. Higginbotham. She was really nice and I thought the labs were interesting. Her notes were kind of unorganized but she always answered any questions and explained things. She gave quite a few little bonuses as well..which helped me out a lot. I got a B in her class. I would recommend her.
Ms. Higginbothom was very interesting. You have to really study though. Her tests are kinda hard but, she gives lots of bonus. I finished with an A.
I loved her. Yes, you do have to study. Yes, the tests are hard. However, if you go to class and study hard, you can do well. I was weary throughout the semester & ended up w/ an A. It's not an easy A. I tell you what, I thought it was hard and then took Earth Science this summer. Now, I look back and wish I could have Biology back.
STUDY! The tests are hard... she doesnt use the book but the tests come from the book. She gives a lot of notes and likes to skip around. BUT she does give bonus quizes. Shes ok.... Boring, so I probably would not take her again
Absolutely take Nancy if you possibly can. She is so laid back and cool. She gives tons of easy bonus, and you will get out early every class. Her tests and quizzes are so easy, and you only have to do one lab report. She is awesome.
Great Professor! Tests come straight from what she tells you. She's laid back and funny. A lot of chances for extra credit.
I love pro. higginbotham! she is cool! youhave to sutdy though! her tests come straight frint he ntie! she is pretty easy if you study and go to class!
she is a good teacher. doesnt use the book but her test come straight from the notes. i have an a in the class.
Great teacher. Take all the notes she puts on the board and pay attention to the examples of things she gives from her notes, that stuff is not in the book and appears on the test. She gives bonus quizes too so read your notes after each class. If you can not pull at least a "b" in her class then you just did not try. Bio is ok and i made an "a".

She gives lectures daily. She gives one to no assignments per semester. No homework. Take notes and study and you will do well. If not many people show up for class, she will give bonus just for showing up.
As long as you take notes and study them you will pass. She doesn't give homework. I had her for GBIO 106 and had no assignments, but also had her for GBIO 107 and had just 1 assignment the entire semester. She gives quizzes for bonus points added onto your test the class before the test date. She will explain anything if you don't understand it.
Need to attend class to get notes. Study notes and you will pass. Gives bonus quizzes before every test, up to 5 pts. Slightly difficult but Bio is difficult. I would recomend her but don't ever miss class!!
Got a B in this class and didn't study for any of the tests except the final and missed a few days because this class was early. Putting forth more effort than I did, you could easily get a A. Took attendance, but I don't think she did anything with it. Gave bonus quizzes and you would get at least 1 point just for submitting it.
i hate this class. this lady gives way too many notes and expects you to learn all of them for the test. she doesnt give anything but test...no homework or in class assignments to help your grade out so basically if you fail the test you fail the class...although she does give a little 10 point bonus quiz before each test but they are hard
Easy class..got an A. Gives bonus quizes before test that you use notebook on..At least 60 bonus points throughout semester and lets you drop a test. Interesting. Not mandatory attendance but make sure get notes from somebody. You do have to study before test but the test arnt hard at all if you study. Take her if you can! She loves turkeys!
Attendance is not mandatory b/c she doesn't pay attention really to the roll but if you want to pass the class you need to go to class. She lectures and somewhat writes on the board. Very nice but i wouldnt say easy. Pay attention and study your notes and you should do good. This is not a blowoff class.
Her lectures were sometimes boring. She didn't seem that passionate about teaching. Coming to class really doesn't matter but she gives a lot of notes so missing a day would put you behind A LOT. Her tests were 50 questions and were worded kind of tricky. She is cool, though.
She gives lots of notes and the test come straight from them. She gives lots of bonus points and is somewhat interessting. Listening to the lectures help but attendence is not manditory. Not difficult to get a decent grade.
She is a very nice and helpful teacher. Attendance is not madatory, but she gives a lot of notes that the tests come straight from. There are 10 point quizes each week to help toward your grade. The only part that was a little difficult was the practical parts on the tests. If you study you should do well in her class.
She is really fun and exciting
Great teacher! I hate biology but she made it interesting. Tests come straight from the notes. If you go to class you'll make a good grade. The only thing is she can be quite opinionated. I'd definitely recommend her!
I thought she was really cool and laid back. She does give a TON of information so if you miss a class you better hope you have a friend in it. She does not give study guides so test can be a little overwhelming because you have to learn so much. Besides that I don?t think she was bad at all. I hate biology and got a solid B
She is great! She really knows the information. Her quizes come from the notes you take in class. The labs are fun and interesting. The midterm and final are easy and come right from the notes. I highly recommend.
she is a great teacher! gives a ton of bonus work!!!
Love her! She is great!
someone need to tell her to buy new clothes, and her talking makes your ears hurt. so country...take hannible she is the best bio teacher on campus
Easiest biology lab class i've ever passed! SHe is easy to understand, quizzes are a breeze and her finals are a booger, but hse gives detailed review!! Take this lady!!!!!
I hadn't originally signed up for her, but I'm glad I got her class anyway. She doesn't give any extra assignments or busy work. It is all notes, so going to class is MANDATORY. But if you study (making note cards helped a lot) her tests are easy. She also gives a quiz before each tests but it only bonus. They can't hurt you. I recommend her!
She's a great teacher! Although she gives alot of notes, she isn't difficult.
umm...i am still confused...not decided yet.
Mrs. Higginbotham is the best biology teacher I have ever had. She makes the subject intersting for everyone, and cracks a lot of jokes about the subjects. Her lectures are very informative, and she gives a lot of information in an hour. If you miss a class you will be totally lost when the test comes along. Definitly reccommend her.
She knows her stuff. She's very interesting. Funny. But her tests are a tad hard and tough to understand, and I made note cards for every single test.
easiest teachef for this class so take her plain and simple you have to work for your grade and she gives notes the WHOLE time but if you study you are fine plain and simpletake her!
i loved biology before i took class with her...she just throws words at you and gives their definition. that's all this class is about..hate her class.
She gives to many notes, acts like she's going to die if she doesn't cover every detail
First time i have ever made an A in biology! She is very straight forward, gives alot of notes but that is exactly what is going to be on the test. If you good at memorizing i would definitely reccomment this class with her. She gives alot of bonus to help boost your grade and her class is also very interesting. Overall good teacher fun class!
Very interesting. Loved the class
NO! SHE GIVES A LOT OF NOTES!! BUT SHE HAND WRITES THEM SO THEY ARE INCOMPREHENSIBLE. THE TEST ARE OKAY BUT NOT THE EASIEST. SHE DOES GIVE OPPORTUNITY FOR BONUS. HOWEVER, THERE ARE EASIER OUT THERE. I CAN BARELY STAY AWAKE LONG ENOUGH TO LEARN ANYTHING
Tests extremely hard. I'm an A/B student and I did not pass this class. If you miss a class (no matter the excuse) she is NOT helpful. Quite honestly, she's very rude. Moves very quickly and expects everyone to be on the same pace. Her handwriting is atrocious. By the way, this class is for NON-bio/science majors, she treats it like a class in which is for those majors. I would not recommend her to anyone. Worst professor I've ever had and that's nicely put.
Good teacher. Gives lots of notes, and you must attend class if you want to pass the class. Her tests are straight forward, and if you study the notes you will do fine. You don't even need to purchase the textbook bc you won't use it unless you really wanted to. She is funny at times too. Overall, I recommend you take her!
She gives A LOT of notes. They are extreamly hard to read because her handwirtting is HORRIBLE!!! & she is not helpful at all if you miss a class for ANY reason. DO NOT TAKE!
I LOVE higginbotham. Notes are hand written on the board but as long as you keep up with her they're not too hard to read. She keeps us entertained and engaged in class. Never want to fall asleep in class. Tests come straight from her notes. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you can easily get a B on the tests.
I just love her class. Never thought biology can be that much fun! you will have 4 test -100points (she will drop the lowest grade) + a final test for 150 points. She gives a lot of notes, but the tests are not very hard, just need to know the basic stuff not all the notes. gives a lot of bonus opportunities.
Wonderful! She is so funny and nice! Class is a breeze and actually interesting! Take her!!!!!!!
Amazing teacher! She is sweet and awesome! If you do not take here it is your loss! I absolutely love her! She gives tons of bonus!
She is super easy. Her tests are straight from her notes, which you copy word for word from the board. TAKE HER! She gives bonus quizzes before each test, and some extra credit opportunities. She is in love with birds and will let her class now. In all, good teacher. Biology isn't even my forte. GBIO 107
The lab class is more challenging than the lecture class. The midterm and the final are difficult if you aren't interested in Biology, for it requires you to study before. You will have a quiz before every class, but they are not very difficult. This class was defnitely a struggle for me, but she was a good teacher and prepared us well. BIOL 154
Nancy is great! Her tests are straight forward, but make sure to study the examples she gives. She also gives a decent amount of bonus opportunities. I will take her again for biology!
This teacher does not interest you in the class and doesn't use blackboard so you'll never know your grade. Also taught creationism which is illegal and offended me.
This teacher is okay, but I wish I would have picked a different teacher. My GPA went down because of this class. Anyone who is not a non-science major needs to rethink this teacher. The only thing that helped picked up my grade was the 50 point assignment, and it wasn't optional. Her bonus that she offers wasn't fair, and she was never on time.
Even if you halfway pay attention, you'll do okay. She was really cool. I fought falling asleep many days but ended up with a B+. If you study, her text are easy. I only studied for the final and still did okay.
LOVE HER! definitely an easy teacher. goes over notes right out the workbook which you have to purchase yourself. quiz before every class which are fairly easy. midterm & final exam. there are no test . this class goes hand in hand with bio151.
She is really funny and cool but her class is SO difficult. Some of notes are on test but you have to really pay attention in class which i did and I still only got a C.
i would recommend. she writes all her notes on the board, but doesn't give many. gives a quiz every class period on the week before's notes. experiment every class. lets you out early if you finish early. pretty easy though.
DO NOT TAKE HER!
I personally can't dog Mrs. Higginbotham. Her class was somewhat easy for me but the tests were somewhat outrageous. I found it hard to pass tests. But with that aside. To me I found her as an interesting person. She gave me great advice in future science classes I need to take later on for my KIN major. As of now I'm a business major.
This lady is horrible! Do NOT TAKE HER. She does not care about her students at all.
She's a great teacher. She can talk kind of fast, but the material isn't really that hard if you take GOOD notes and scan over them before the tests. She's a little blustery but is also kind and caring if you make an effort. She really appreciates questions and you can tell she knows her stuff.
DO NOT TAKE HER!! SHE WAS A HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!!!!
easy going teacher but you have to go to class and you have to study. quizzes are given every week with only 2 exams-Midterm & Final. I loved this class and enjoyed having her as my teacher. Do what your told, study & you can't fail.
Gives a ton of notes but if you take them you will pass. Gives lots of bonus so even a bad semester could be great.
This was a tough class. She gives up to 30 points of extra credit projects, which is great! I had to study hard before tests, but I got A's. MOST IMPORTANTLY: When she reviews tests, circle everything she went over, because half of the questions on the final are verbatim questions from previous tests! This helps you pass with flying colors.
I would NOT recommend her to anyone who's a non-science major. she is very passionate about science and she expects her students to be as well, which makes it VERY VERY VERY difficult to pass if youre not a science major. Even looking over all the notes doesn't help on the tests because there are sooooo many things that you have to memorize.
If you are a science major taking her, prepare for GPA to take a hit. 1 out of about 18 students made an A on lab report. the rest made Ds or Fs. If you are not a science major, why the hell are you even considering her?! Quizzes at the beginning of every class.
LOVED Mrs. Higginbotham for both lecture and lab. If you pay attention and take notes you can't go wrong. She makes biology interesting for those who could not have a care in the world about it. She's a very fun teacher. Tests are hard but not impossible. She also gives bonus.
I looked forward to this class more than any other! Nancy is a FANTASTIC teacher. She offers so many bonus points. She makes Bio 107 really fun and interesting. She really loves birds and was a wildlife and fisheries officer. Doesn't give many exams, mabye 5? Attend. not mandatory but benef. I would take her again in a heartbeat! AWESOME PROFESSOR!
Higgy is a great teacher and helps her non-Bio major students understand it- but if you're like me and hate Bio. this class will still suck. Lots of notes, bonus quizzes, and pretty tough tests if you don't study days before. Again. Lots of notes. A Bio major looked at my notes and was surprised at what all we were learning.
I absolutely loved this class! She makes everything easy to understand. Yes, the tests are somewhat difficult and contain a lot of info, but she will help you if you ask!
There were a few extra credit assignments but the tests are pretty straight forward. If you want to pass, you must take the time to study.
Higginbotham was tough for me. She walks in & writes her notes on the board. Sometimes she goes a little fast, & there is always a lot of material to cover. Notes will be messy & hard to write. Final was 4 new chapters we had to read ourselves & all the other chapters we learned. She gives a lot of bonus & a few projects here & there. Pretty good.
She writes notes on the board. She talks kind of fast & she's a fast writer so you have to pay attention & keep up. She makes class interesting. No homework! Tests can be somewhat hard, pay attention & study & you'll do fine. She gives extra credit assignments & she gives pop quizzes but they're bonus so they can't hurt you. I would take her again.
DO NOT TAKW THIS CLASS IF YOU NEED ANYTHING HIGHER THEN A C! Her test are hard especially for a lab class. You do not get extra credit. Nobody really passed her lab report. BEWARE, if you have an excused absence and do not make it to any lab that week, you will receive no credit! Which is why my grade plummeted. So good luck with her
Mrs. Higginbotham was a good GBIO teacher, she has worked in wildlife and fisheries and she LOVES birds. If you only learn one thing from this class it will be about the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. She writes all of her notes on the board while she lectures and as long as you study the tests aren't too hard. She also gives extra credit opportunities.
She is a great teacher, the way she teaches will make you remember everything she said in class. She gives weekly quizzes which help a lot, they are very easy. You will have to study and work for your grade. If I could I would take her again, she is a funny and great teacher.
She is THE WORST biology teacher I've ever had....... I would not even want to remember her face.. Her attitude was so rude sometimes.
This class is not easy. You have to attend class and study a lot to pass. She is very specific about what she wants in the lab report, so if you follow the directions, you will make a good grade. There is also a quiz at the beginning of every class and several opportunities for bonus points.
She is an okay teacher. She breaks down everything to the simplest way possible. If you are not a bio major and not a big fan of science she will make it durable. Handwritten notes works best in her class. All lectures notes are written on the board , no powerpoints. The only thing that bothered me was you only see does not put grades in moodle
No study guides are given. She tells you to go home everyday and study for the tests by doesn't tell you what you need to know, so you kind of have to study every single things you wrote . overall she's an okay teacher, but she's funny & cool . but that doesn't help when it comes to tests
Take pictures, study hard & ask questions, otherwise you'll do poorly in this class
Mrs. Nancy is so chill, she will become your best friend if you excel in the class. People that are lazy usually don't do well in her class and say it's her fault. People need to realize that you need to study for the grade you want. Take her if you can, beware of the weekly quizzes, they are easy if you study. The mid-term is hard too
This is a tough class but she is a good spirited person which makes it better, you HAVE to study and attend this class (unlike me)
Going in, she makes her class seem like its hard, BUT ITS EASY AF. You just have go know how to play your cards, if you can get the notes from someone you dont even have to go to class, write down examples, and go to class before the test because you'll have a bonus review and the points go towards your test.
This is the worst professor I have ever came in contact with. She doesn't provide notes. She writes them on the board as she is talking and erases. She doesn't even have the notes in a Powerpoint. She is a nice person just not a good professor. Test were also difficult. I had to take this class again for a second attempt.
She talks really fast and has horrible handwriting. Her tests are ridiculous. Her tests are all over the place and are very hard to study for. She does give pop quizzes. She gives bonus and homework for bonus.
She made lab really fun. Down to earth and cares about her student. I would deff. take her again.
All the people that said she's a horrible teacher are just lazy because she doesn't post power points online or do a study guide and you actually HAVE TO STUDY. I learned a lot in this class. I'm a sociology major and she made biology extremely interesting. She's got a strong personality and people don't like that, but I definitely recommend her.
Only had her half the semester, but she was cool. Big personality and pretty good at explaining the material. Study and you'll probably be fine.
She is a nice person outside of class and her lectures are usually very interesting. There are so many notes though that it becomes overwhelming studying. She expects you to know what she is talking about even though most are in the class because they have never learned this stuff. I would not take again.
I had her for lab 154 and I struggled through it but managed to pull through with a C. You have to study since it is loads of material to know but overall great teacher and she is super nice and will help as much as she can!
Nancy is very funny and entertaining but her notes are all over the place. i cant read her handwriting or comprehend anything she says because she talks so fast. i feel like you might be better off reading the chapters in your book that she is lecturing on because she jumps from one thing to another and its very hard to keep up with her.
She is very funny and uses lots of examples in her lectures, but is NOT detailed when it comes to what is being tested in exams. She does not give homework assignments or quizzes. The only graded material given is the exams.
She tries her best to keep class interesting which was really helpful to me because I hate biology. She gives you all the information you need to know for the exams and it comes straight from the notes you do have to study though.
She doesnt review before exams but thats because the tests come straight from your notes so if you skip class all the time and dont study thats the only way you could fail this class. I definitely recommend her.
Tests come from notes given in class, so if you skip you will fail. Tests are easy if you study. Gives major bonus points and drops lowest test grade which is nice. Explains confusing concepts well.
very tough tests that come from notes. you may have 30 pages of notes but no idea what exactly will be on test. overall a very nice and funny person which makes it more enjoyable.
This class consist of 4 test and a comprehensive final exam. As long as you attend class, take good notes and actually study for the test you should do well. She drops your lowest test grade and gives tons of bonus opportunities. I recommend taking her!
This is an amazing professor. Her tests are based on the lectures she gives in class. Her notes are not posted online, so you have to attend class if you want to pass. She gives bonus quizzes the class before a test. Her test are difficult but if you study ahead of time, you can do well.
My favorite professor so far at SELU. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you go to class the notes & her lectures make the tests much easier. NO HOMEWORK. 3-4 tests & the final. Bonus points are given all semester. Im not a science person & I passed with a B. Shes funny, gives real life examples, & is very realistic. TAKE HER CLASS.
She is a very sweet and funny person, but easily gets side tracked and will lose focus on the lecture. If you do take her class, TAKE NOTES OUT OF THE TEXTBOOK, even though she says not to worry about it. She will usually only grade you on exams. She doesnt give any homework or quizzes, to help with your grade.
I loved her class. She is super funny. No homework only test. Bonus points all semester. She drops the lowest test grade. If you study youll do great.
This is a lab so you have to go to class to get credit. She let us out early almost every week. We had 10 pt quizzes every week on what we did the week before but were super easy. Mid term and final were very easy if you study! Write down everything she does on the board bc thats normally what the little quizzes have on them but also read the book!
Mrs. Higgenbotham is an amazing teacher! I highly recommend her for biology lab. She makes class fun and easy to understand. She quizzes once a week and the material is exactly her notes she gives you. As long as you study and participate in labs, you should do well. If I had the opportunity to take her again, I would.
Great professor to take for Bio Lab. She tells you EXACTLY what's going to be on the test and doesn't try to trick you or overload you with unnecessary information. As long as you show up to class every week, do your work, and go over the notes she gives, it's an easy A. She's super nice, and helpful if you have questions!
she is definitely a solid biology instructor. before every lab we would have a prep quiz, and i had a little trouble with them at first. she isn't the best with emails but eh it's only a lab. she is also kind of a tough grader on lab reports. i feel like i would follow all the instructions and still get points off. lots of extra credit!
As long as you do the quizzes and show up to class, you'll pass this class. There were two lab reports out of the whole course. She's very laidback. Gives alot of tips and pointers during lab. Definitely tries to help everyone pass.
Such a great lab professor! We had weekly quizzes before each class straight from lecture notes. Each week, we had an activity that she provided guidance with and helped a lot if you were stuck! Gives tons of bonus and participation points to help your grade
Ms. Nancy is a good person, but I had her when we switched to online learning in March, so I basically experienced two profs. For the first half, all she did was lecture with a marker and dry erase board, and the tests covered everything out of her mouth. You have to be able to memorize lots of info. We met during COVID, but tests were open book.
i would take any class she teaches again in a heartbeat. she is soooo laid back and easy to work with. she clearly explains what is expected from you for each assignment and explains material well. she'll let class out early and offers bonus here and there. the class isn't difficult and the tests aren't bad, and she makes the lab more enjoyable
I ended up having to drop her class. She isn't very helpful with covid regulations and somewhat dismisses the half of class at home i.e. before our first test she gave extra credit to the "B" class to students who were in class but failed to consider the "A" class who literally HAD to be home. Prob a better prof w/o covid restrictions.
I'm taking her this semester and so far she is incredibly unhelpful. if you cant go to class and have to attend online you can't see the notes and she goes incredibly fast when she talks. her tests are extremely hard and you have to study at least 2 weeks in advance. I started studying a week before and I failed the test. do not recommend.
Prepare to study. Very good speaker and cares about her students. She makes biology interesting for those who dont have an affinity for science. Shes friendly, honest, and wants to make sure you understand her lectures. No homework, so make sure you study for those tests. Love her!
she only gives you grades for test so if you bomb the test, you fail the class. she is good at lecturing but her test are so hard.
I took Prof. Nancy for the sole reason of her page on here. Upon going to her class, I quickly learned that it was not accurate. She does not seem to care for her student's success at all. She told us that we weren't trying hard enough. She blamed us a lot. When we would ask her for help on something, we would be ignored. Just wanted to warn y'all.
This class is extremely difficult and thats coming from a student who is always on the deans list or above. There is no homework or quizzes to bring up your grade. When you ask for ways to improve she just tells you to change your study habits. My class had study groups and constantly studied however most of us still ended up failing the exams.
i am a very visual learner so i need to see notes to understand them. she lectures without powerpoints and just writes on the board. when i asked if there was anything i can do to help my grade, she told me to change my study habits. my class had multiple study groups and we all are still failing. she just isn't very helpful overall. do not take.
Professor Nancy Higginbotham makes this lecture class very enjoyable and makes sure her students are understanding the material. Though the tests are on a lot of information, if you study well it is very doable.
The way she grades attendance is the stupidest thing ever!! I literally only missed one class but got a low grade because she asks questions at the end of class and if you get them wrong you are counted absent for "not paying attention".
biology isnt my strongest subject, so i wish i was able to take another professor for sure. She is very... rude in my eyes. i feel as she doesnt care about her students. all she puts in moodle are your test grades. so if u arent a good test taker, DO. NOT. I REPEAT. DO NOT. TAKE HER!
Many of the other students in my class did not like her but I did not find her bad at all. She was my favorite teacher this semester because she was clear on what was going to be on the test, super interesting, and gave tons of bonus. You can definitely get an A in this class if you put in effort. If you do not pay attention, you will fail.
She wants you to understand everything in lab, its really easy to pass as you long as you participate and do the quizzes. She's pretty straight forward and since she was a Lab instructor she helped me do a lot better in my BIO Lecture.
I love this professor, but the only thing is she can be a tough grader when it comes to lab reports. Make sure to read the lab book and watch the lecture before you come in to class. Her online lectures are 10-15 minutes and she will keep you in class until you finish your experiment, so if you finish the experiment in 30 minutes you can go.
Her class is very passable and she cares about people failing or passing her class. Just do your quizzes and experiments and you will pass with a good grade.
Dr. Higginbotham was really funny and made sure her lectures were interesting. I definitely recommend attending class if you want a good grade because all of her tests rely on her lectures. If you study your lecture notes, the tests are pretty much the same as those, so take good notes.
She doesn't want to be there, and she assumes we don't either. In the beginning of the semester she acts like the class is an easy A. She grades like we're learning, which we're not. No depth to any of the material, like high school biology. Doesn't care if her students learn.I'm paying my own way, not getting my money's worth, I feel ripped off
She doesn't teach. She speaks as if we should just know the information when we are there to be taught it. For the midterm, you need to study all the chapters, heavily on the microscope part because that was worth most of the points. She does offer bonuses but hardly helps your grade. She does act like this class is an easy A, but it is difficult.
Professor Higginbotham in my opinion was a good and easy lab professor. As long as you show up and do your pre-lab quizzes you'll pass likely with an A. We got out of the lab almost an hour early most days which was nice. The midterm was extremely easy I got a 104% on it and the final was pretty easy too I got a 95%.
Nancy was really cool and really funny! It's hard to leave this class without an A or a B. Showup and do the lab quizzez before the lab and do the bonus and you should do well. STUDY for the midterm and final and you will do well key word being study. She's like a nice southern mom. cool lady
Mrs. Higginbotham was a nice professor. I didn't like that she didn't give study guides. She has four tests plus a final and gives bonuses in class, so be prepared for surprise bonus quizzes, important that you pay attention in class. Each test has 50 questions. MUST take notes, what she says is on the test plus Vocabulary terms, nothing else.
Nancy is an okay lab professor she kind of expects you to understand a lot of material quickly she is funny and caring but the class of its self is difficult definitely take a higher rated professor if you have the option but she is not a bad choice
She is a super fun professor, makes class interesting. If you study your notes you will do fine on the test. Make sure you show up and pay attention. She gives pop quizzes, but also lets you do extra credit and lets you drop the lowest test grade. She also reviews for the test. Highly recommend.
Absolutely awful! Only gives test, gives no help, no study guides and does not post anything in moodle. Her test are wordy, she writes everything in the board and does not like questions. Everyone in my class did not do well, look for another professor do not take her!
Whatever you do, DO NOT take this professor! She is so rude and so hard. Tests are 50 questions with short answer and essay. She will tell you that she knows the information for the course and that it is on you that you do not and say to aim for a D because that stands for diploma. Her notes are everywhere and unorganized. Avoid at all costs!
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN! Notes are everywhere and she teaches way too fast. This lady will do nothing to help you but instead just have a very rude tone. There are some bonuses and attendance quizzes but you never know when they are. Everything with her comes out the hat and makes you draw a blank half the time about what she is even talking about.
HORRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOOSE YOUR SANITY, I SUGGEST YOU TAKE ANYONE ELSE! TRUST ME, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
She is pretty nice, her course is mostly well organized. As long as you attend class you will get a mostly good grade, highly based on participation and the pre-lab and post-lab quizzes each week.
GO TO CLASS. nothing is posted on Moodle and the only material is notes you take from her lectures. tests are sort of difficult but as long as you study, you will do fine. she just started grading for attendance to help with your grade and she drops the lowest test score.
Her lectures are interesting, but she only teaches by writing on the board. No PP. She does offer extra credit which you will definitely want to do. She doesn't use the book so if you miss class you will be behind. Overall she is decent.
Definitely avoid this professor if you can - she has a harsh teaching style and the class is brutally difficult. However, tools like unstuck AI helped me stay on top of the material when I was struggling.
I took Nancy Higginbotham for BIOL 1520 my first semester of my freshman year. She was absolutely terrible. She was a very unreasonable harsh grader. if you miss one class she makes you feel like it is the end of the world for doing so and does not work with you. She is terrible at answering emails. She is very unprofessional, quizzes are HARD!!!!!
I struggle in Biology but Mrs. Nancy definitely helped a lot. Make sure you pay attention to the stories she tells in class, she is not just telling them for no reason they all relate to what she is teaching. She only teaches by writing on the whiteboard. Attend class, do not skip! none of the notes are posted in canvas.
Super nice and straightforward with the material. Quiz at the beginning of most labs about the past lab and what the lab will be on that day, so she will tell you to read ahead in your manual. Not the hardest grader either, she's cool. As long as you show up to most labs and study for your midterm and final, you should pass.
Would not recommend. Does not teach with powerpoints, only writes on the whiteboard, talks and moves very fast. Acts like she doesn't want to be there and like we should already know whats being taught. Only uses canvas to upload grades and "study guides" which she tells us to remind her to post. Quizzes are very hard and make up most of your grade
If I could give 0 stars I would. Only reason people pass this class is because they cheat on test by keeping their phone when she say bring book sacks to the front on test day. She only writes on the board in the worst handwriting you can see. She been teaching since 05 it's time to ring it in. Plus -1000 aura for her name being higginbotham. 304
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She is funny, engaging, and easy to follow. There is a LOT of material covered and it is hard stuff but she explains it all in a somewhat easy to understand manner. There is also a lot of chances for extra credit. Anyone who rated her poorly just doesn't know how to take a class and they should drop out.
It was alright!
This is by far the worse teacher I had at my whole time at southeastern, I took her years ago and I'm back for grad school but I just have to warn the incoming freshman or anyone who has to take this course to try to avoid this professor at all cost, she just writes on the board and you can't miss a single class or your doomed, highly don't recommend
Great! All you have to do is study for exams and SHOW UP FOR CLASS. There are quizzes at the beginning of each lab, but they are for the lab done the previous week. She makes sure you understand, especially if you simply ask. Engagement is key with her!
I like how she actually teaches instead of just reading off a slide show, however the class was hard in my opinion. The only grades are tests which I usually like, but the tests were very difficult. If you miss one class you will be behind even if you get the notes from a classmate.
She is awesome!
Don't waste your time.
i really enjoyed this lab! the tests are difficult, but with enough studying you can pass. attend class for the quizzes to help your grade. do the extra credit options. the labs are fun and she makes the lessons easy to understand.
Don't take! She is nice, but she does not teach well. She goes over a few things, but you have to learn everything on your own
Does not provide any study material or help much. Just expects you to teach yourself the class.
