A little difficult to understand, but she is always willing to help. Tests are easy, you can use notes and book!
Her class stresses her out a lot more than it does her students. Very clear explanations despite accent. Very knowledgable about statistics. Easy tests. Do all the homework and correct any mistakes to make A on tests. High strung, but a good teacher.
Very good teacher. Open note tests. My only problem is we're in week 8 and shes still explaining things to us like its the 1st day of school. No big deal though. If you take Stats with any teacher Juhn is the teacher to take.
Prime example of good teaching. If you must take stats then you must take Juhn!
Phenomenal
I wish UTD could have more profs like Juhn. She's a really funny teacher and truly cares about her students.
Awesome teacher! easy class. Do your homework! you will do great! Open note and homework test!
I have a disability with math and Dr. Juhn went above and beyond to help me pass. I had taken this class 3 times before and never passed but Dr. J. made sure that I understood stuff and did all she could to help me and I am so glad to have had her as a teacher. If you have to take Stats for Psych take her. Go to class and you should be fine.
Awful teacher. Juhn manages to take a somewhat simple subject and make it complicated and hard to follow. She has a history of poor grades in her classes therefore requires attendance as 10% of your grade. I try not to listen in class and only read the book and work out problems on my own in order to avoid confusion.
Dr. Juhn is a good professor. Her PSY 2317 was interesting and I gained a lot from it. It really helps to read the chapter before attending class - that way her lectures make sense and you can follow easily. If you don't prepare beforehand, it's easy to get behind. But that's the student's fault, not hers.
The class was neither fun nor too hard. I thought she made the subject matter more difficult than it had to be. The tests were sometimes tricky. If things were made more straight forward, the class would be easier and I would have learned a lot more.
Greatest math professor ever. Explains everything so clearly that a monkey could understand. And she actually cares about what the students learn, unlike most profs. TAKE HER!
This class was hard. Statistics is my weakness. Dr Juhn was great. She doesn't let you get by easy but if you show work she will make it worth your while. Make sure to read the chapters in the text and always go to the TA'S review! I would recommend taking Dr Juhn. Thanks for the great class!
worst teacher ever, tests dont make sense, doesnt help you with anything, waste of time and money, take a different stat class if you can
If you work hard and come to class and go to all the study sessions, you will do well. Dr. Juhn is a caring teacher!
A nice woman who cares a lot about her students. However her lecture is easier than her tests and it can be hard to make up the difference. She makes you do a lot of things on hand that can be done much faster on calculators (which she doesn't allow). Nice professor, mediocre teacher.
i was dreading this class before the semester started, but now it's probably my easiest class and the ONLY class i actually understand.Dr Juhn has great logic and she's really helpful. She makes sure her students understand everything that is going on and she moves at a good pace. She is an excellent professor and her explanations are really clear.
Dr. Juhn is a wonderful prof. I have taken Stats in the past but took this for a refresher and this class was much easier to understand. She provides the notes for class and you get to use your own notes for tests. Couldn't have asked for a better teacher. She really cares about her students.
I loved this class & enjoyed Dr. Juhn's teaching style. Very interactive with students. Should be an extremely easy A if you pay the slightest attention in class and do the homework. You can use notes and homework on tests, but don't rely on that to do well - it never works. I recommend this class whether you are a psych major or not.
Great teacher! Her TA's are awesome too... Math is my hardest subject and she made it very simple. Just do the homework, correct it, and stay after class for TA's help... Good good good teacher!
Print out the notes at the beginning of the year, then copy the step-by-step notes on the BACK of your homework, and then use your homework on the tests. Sounds sneaky but SHE encourages this! Shes already really easy to understand but the best part is using notes on the test. understand the concepts of statistics at least and youll get an A
So sweet and helpful, is willing to go over anything that's confusing and does it well. You MUST get the notes from the Copy Center. They are worth every penny. Doing the homework will benefit you as well. This class is really straightforward and she makes a big effort to prepare you for future psych courses.
Professor can be condescending (perhaps unknowingly), but teaches clearly and effectively. Purchase class notes at the copy store and turn in the optional homework to be checked over. During exams, you may bring your homework, so utilize the backs of the pages to jot down important notes from lecture.
A very nice person. She is not the best of teachers, but if you go to class, pay attention and do the homework... you are golden! Also, she is really understanding and open to helping you out. Like I said may not be the best at teaching, but she is an amazing person!
This teacher is not very helpful at all, she is not a good professor, her way of teaching is not good at all, plus she is mean. Please stay away from her. You
Her lectures are redundant and a really boring to listen to, but she posts notes online and lets you use your hw that you can write your notes on on the tests that are very straight forward and you can make a 100 on eaisly!! very easy class and a nice teacher
worst teacher EVER! lectures are boring and incomprehensible. She goes off on too many tangents and redundant material. Takes simple concepts and makes them difficult. if you read the book you can do well on the test, but i'd rather have a teacher who will TEACH me the material
Teacher is utterly useless, lecture is utterly useless, she goes off on random tangents about life. The only reason I got anything out of this class was because of a fabulous TA. She does let you use your homework on tests, so you don't actually have to learn anything.
I enjoyed her classes a lot. She is a great instructor and also has a big heart. Will help any way she can. Makes Stats interesting and relates it to everyday life. Must attend. Makes notes available. Do HW and read chapters. Exams are not that hard but must study. Dr. Juhn is really awesome!
She is really an awesome professor. She's down to earth, wastes no time, and inserts her positive personality into each lesson somehow. She'll work with anyone willing to learn and even get to know you by name if you participate in class. She's a sweet persona and excellent teacher. I absolutely loved having her.
She is so hard to understand. Honestly, if you have a good TA and can read the book you'll do absolutely fine. She lets you use cheat sheets or the homework on the tests so you can do pretty well. She takes attendance but the lectures seem useless some of the time. I like her a lot personally, but she goes off on tangents sometimes too.
Save yourself some time and do not take her. Possibly the hardest math/stats class I've ever taken, and I believed myself to be very good at these subjects.
I'm not going to lie. This is a hard class and Dr Juhn does not make it easy. Be prepared to basically teach yourself using the chapters in the book. Do get me wrong Dr. Juhn is nice, but she teaches from a power point. Math+power point = disaster. There are 4 test and home works. You're also allow a one pg cheat sheet on the test.
Hardest class ever. I learned more from the TA than I did the professor. Expects you to get things the first time I tried to teach myself from the book which did not help b/c she doesnt teach from the book.
You will be able to do very well in this class if you put effort into it. Dr. Juhn clearly sets the expectations of the class. Attending class and completing the homework assignments are crucial in excelling in the course. Dr. Juhn and her TAs are clear and always available to help. If you listen in her class, you will do very well on the exams!
In all honesty everyone who gave a bad review is bitter. I took the class two semesters ago and I still recommend it to my friends. It's easy (all you have to focus on are the slides)Dr.Juhn is clear, very helpful during class and afterwards, and once you understand the material it's an easy A class. You don't have to be a genius to get it.Peace!
In my class she took away mandatory attendance and grades for HW because no one did it. She's nice, but has high expectations. She repeats herself A LOT and stays on one slide for like 30 minutes. The class drags. She has an accent, but is understandable. She and TAs are helpful and fun. Once you get used to her pointless tangents, it's not bad.
She speaks very low and FAST, if you want a good grade, I suggest you sit in front row, go to every single study session and get her to know your name. Her TA's were amazing...this class should really have a built in "lab" so that students can have a better chance at making the "extra learning time".
She is very clear and concise on what she expects during the exams. You get a cheat sheet to write whatever you want so UTILIZE IT. I found this class very easy because most of it is just plugging information into formulas and knowing what formulas to use when. If you go to class and utilize the cheat sheet, you will do fine.
Dr. Juhn is fantastic. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone is understanding the material and set up bi-weekly review sessions for students to attend. Her tests are very straightforward which is helpful since the material can be somewhat challenging.
Go to the review sessions!!!Sucks, I literally hated her class.
Dr Juhn is AMAZING. She really takes the time to go over everything, review things she already discussed, etc. until everyone gets it. 4 exams-and she let's you use a DOUBLE SIDED cheat sheet on the exams! Has her TA's grade HW even though they're not mandatory. She's really sweet. Don't think I would have made an A in this class with another prof
This class was easy, if a little tedious. To be fair, statistics isn't the most interesting subject, but Dr. Juhn explained it pretty well and didn't hesitate to answer any questions. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll pass with no problems.
Easy class. Extremely easy, granted i went to every class and was interested in the material. She gives you everything you need to know, you just need to put in the work. Very simple class one of the simplest I have taken at UTD so far.
You literally have to sabotage yourself to fail this course. Dr. Juhn goes over problems during class that are exactly like the ones you see on the tests. She explains everything clearly. She also allowed for a sheet (front and back) of notes during the test. Easiest course I have taken at UTD.
She expects for you to know everything and her lectures are no very helpful. I believe that the professor can give you access to some extra help online. I will not recommend her class to anybody.
Ive taken her class 2x. She goes really out of her way to give you extra lessons and help. BUT she doesn't work problems out, she just lectures. She goes off on unrelated tangents, isn't patient, and the book SUCKS. I've never been more confused, even with tutor help. I'll be taking it the 3rd time in summer with a different prof.
Her class is relatively easy. You get a cheat sheet for the tests, which are 96% of your grade, and homework is not required. She is also one of the most annoying professors I've had so far. She goes off on pointless tangents way too much and is not very good at lecturing. The time she spends talking about nothing should be used for examples.
I was indifferent to psych stats until I took her class, and now I can't wait to learn more! The book is definitely good for practicing what you've learned in class, but I found the lectures to be of more help. She explains things thoroughly and provides plenty of examples. I missed class only twice because she's easier to understand than the book.
As an older ardent she was amazing at encouraging me and directing me toward success which really appreciated!!
Take her class if you want an easy A. Concepts might be challenging but she explains them fairly well, although she jumps from lecture materials to irrelevant examples. Attending class is recommended for class notes. Tests are easy. You get to use cheat sheet where you can put down formulas and etc. Easy class, but not exciting
If you are not good at math this class will be difficult. She assumes you already have a grasp of the material before the lecture even starts, and goes through very few examples. She often strays in her lectures, taking up precious time that could be used for said examples. Tests are easy enough if you managed to decipher the material beforehand.
Juhn really cares about her students and wants them to succeed but she is a fair when it comes to grading. Her lectures get kind of repetitive and boring. If you listen for the most part though, you'll be fine. Her test aren't bad unless you don't try to pay attention or come to class.
Class is very reasonable: 4 exams and online open book homework (2 tries each). The tests are fairly easy, although I would recommend going to the lectures right before exams because she does review what you need to know. Made an A in the class because what saved me was the fact that she lets you take a 1-page cheat sheet to the exams. Curves too!
Four exams with lots of resources to help you prior to exams. TA's are available most days throughout the week in case you have a question over the material. Grading was very fair. Come to class, because there may be things the professor says that will actually help you greatly during each exam. Written assignments are checked by TA for feedback.
Average professor. Used lots of useless examples in class and I spent most of the semester teaching myself. However, when I couldn't teach myself she was able to help me understand. Her optional practice problems really helped me
Absolutely love this professor She is my favorite this semester I came into the semester hating math and she made me love it. I do very well on all her test, homework, and in class homework assignments She drops the two lowest learning homework grades, as well as the two lowest in class homework grades, and she gives you two free absences! TAKE HER
Nice enough, but rarely works examples as she expects you to know it already. Shrugs off responsibility of in depth teaching on to her TA/tells you to go to SI. This made the class unnecessarily difficult, especially if you don't have time outside of class to get help. Unless you know what you are doing, avoid the class if you can.
Best math professor I've ever taken. She is smart, funny, and very intriguing. Her lectures break down everything perfectly and I must say that she simplified the class as much as possible. I missed one class and I ended up doing bad on the exam. If you go to class, pay attention, ask questions, and do your homework, you will succeed!
The TA's grade everything and often make mistakes, then they refuse to correct the grade. Prof only gives extremely vague 1 example per lecture and if you don't understand she tells you to go to SI, and get taught by the TAs. She takes attendance. No extra credit. The only positive is that she drops your 2 lowest HW grades... big whoop.
Dr. Juhn is pretty good except she gets off topic easily. Overall the class isn't too hard if you do the homeworks. Going to SI helped a lot!
Everything is apparently run by TA's (grading, helping, etc..). She's very vague and expects you to either have an extra time out of class for SI or you're on your own. She gives 1 example per chapter lecture that might be the nearly the exact same one the next class. Tangents are daily. Good Part: Gives a cheat sheet card, drops2 lower hw grade.
She doesn't just hammer the formulas into your head; we are given concepts, and by understanding the concepts we can understand what and why we are using which methods. I never bought the book - I rented it from the library when needed and even that was rare - you are provided an exam cheat sheet for an easy A. You will need to be specific in exams
Waters down college level statistics to high school math. You won't learn much. The good side of it is as long as you do the work you'll pass. Gave a lot of extra credit, too.
Confusing when she speaks (fast, disorganized, rambling). I don't think she actually does research. The lectures don't prepare you well for the tests. Tests are overly long, often worded poorly, and she counts off for arbitrary personal preferences. The PhD research methods course is easier than this class. Take another professor.
BEST TEACHER EVER! I love her. She is very considerate and explains things in multiple ways to make sure everyone understands. The tests aren't difficult and you get a cheat sheet that is either made up by you or given to you, which makes it so much better!!
In short, Mrs. Juhn is the definition of a tiger mom. The 1st day of class she said that if we don't like her, drop while we're ahead. She lectures her class daily on things they haven't even done yet. Her poor TAs get bossed around constantly. But at the end of the day, I can tell she pushes us only because she cares and wants to see us succeed.
She's a good professor. You will learn, but be careful of her grading. If you Relabel ALL graphs, show ALL work, triple check every problem, write all hypotheses perfectly, and use the wording she wants in your conclusions, you should be ok. She is not easy to listen to tho. She often comes across as mean, even tho I don't think she is. Tests vary.
The professor went off topic often, it was difficult to keep up with the lecture, and the exams were too long to finish. She did have the great intention of making the subject friendly but ended up going in circles making the lectures more confusing than anything.
Struggled so much with the exam's always ran out of time, no way someone has time to double check their work, which probably would've helped me a lot. I would go to constant SI's, 100% online quiz, comprehended the hw's. Insufficient practice given from Dr. Juhn for us to actually do great on the exams. Also lacked helpful TA's. Overall yikes
Dr. Juhn is a GREAT professor. Yes, she has an accent but you can understand her well and clearly. She teaches the information clearly, but again it's a math course, so you are ultimately responsible for putting in the effort and practicing. Tests are straightforward/easy, but if you don't PRACTICE, then you risk not having enough time to finish.
Dr. Juhn is such a caring professor! Her teaching style involves teaching concepts briefly first and then coming back over and over with greater detail so that students can build up a solid foundation for real life critical thinking in research statistics. Her classes can be tough, but a must if your goal is to actually learn useful life skills!!
She is a good professor, but very meticulous on grading tests. Getting practice outside of class and frequently going to SI sessions helps a lot if you want clarification on lectures and doing extra example problems since she does not really give them in class. Tests are pretty straight-forward as long as you attend class and do HW.
She is a good professor. Pushes you to learn and is very motivating. She is very adorable as a person and overall makes learning fun.
Dr. Juhn is very caring and wants you to succeed, however she seems to forget that we dont know anything about STATS in her intro class and tends to move over things very quickly, or not at all and then test you over it. Make sure you do the homework (and can do it easily) and youll be fine for the test.
She really works hard to convey all the information to her students. Easy to follow even with her accent. The content requires lots of practice which you don't do in class. Go to the SI sessions if you need. Lots of homework and quizzes. 4 exams that are quite difficult, but you get a cheat sheet. Textbook isn't really used. Attendance mandatory.
She wants the best for students and is eager to help outside of class. But its a 75 min lecture and she doesnt stop talking once. Has the ability to make difficult material seem easy and easy material seem hard. Gives online quizes and HW but easy to lose points bc of meticulous grading. SI is your best friend. allows "cheat sheet" on exams
The only reason I did good in this class is bc of the TA. Go to every SI session. Her grading isn't really good. Everytime i left a test i thought i did waaaay better than i actually did.
I took this class my first semester and became a TA for it the next semester. Some of the homeworks get graded very meticulously, but they do not count for much of the grade and she does 2 drops for hw and quizzes. The main focus is on exams which, as previously mentioned, SI will help with.
Dr. Juhn is very kind and it is obvious she wants everyone to understand the material, so much that it gets boring at many points. You do not need the text book and grading is somewhat particular. As long as you go to class and do the assignments, you should be fine
4 tests (80%), weekly homework (5%), weekly online textbook quizzes (14%) & attendance (1%). SI sessions will be your BEST FRIEND! Attend as many of them as you can especially the test reviews! She is very knowledgable, stresses the importance of using this class in the real world & a lot of times she'll start getting of topic bc of her passion.
Difficult to follow in lectures and often negative toward students, though I don't know if she means to come across as she does. Very blunt. The course was decent and I passed but it was a lot of homework. Reading on my own to understand the material was the only way I really learned anything. Attendance mandatory, cheatsheet for exams was helpful.
Nancy Juhn is a WONDERFUL professor! She spends an ample amount of time on the material and makes sure that every student understands. She's very accessible, incredibly sweet, and has a passion for what she does. The tests are fairly easy, as long as you do plenty of practice. She has optional homework and online quizzes.
She is an amazing and passionate person. Unfortunately her style of teaching does not suit me. She relates to the real word but BE CAREFUL WITH TESTS there is NO PARTIAL CREDIT. If you put the right formula but forget to carry a negative, it will count all wrong. She's accessible out of class to help you.
Dr. Juhn has a different style than most teachers. She may come across as harsh to the people who don't understand, but if you put in the work it won't be as bad. This semester the Hw wasnt graded but it did give great feedback on what you need to do for the test. Go to the TA and her office if you have any questions. They are willing to help
Dr. Juhn is one of the nicest professors, honestly, but her tests almost seem designed to make people fail, so make sure you know the content before test days and go to SI sessions because they help! Dr. Juhn is also SUPER accessible outside of class if you have questions. Tough grader but she just wants you to know your stuff for future classes.
Dr. Juhn was my favorite professor. She's funny and makes difficult content easy to understand. Its a structured class; 2-3 question ungraded homework assignment and 20 question quiz for each section, 4 exams, no final. Very tough grader but tells you exactly what shes looking for. Really enjoyed this class.
Dr. Juhn is great! She really cares about her students and really wants to help! I really enjoyed the class and it was pretty easy. Her tests are MC, matching and fill in the blank but as long as you understand the homework and listen in class you should do fine.
Coming from a person with a stats background, Dr. Juhn is just an ok professor. She's incredibly sweet, but, you'll learn more from the textbook than rom Dr. Juhn herself. Her classes cover topics that are useful to learn, but she fails to hit upon the vital aspects of statistics. Take Dr. Abdi if you really want a firm foundation in methods.
Dr. Juhn is a good professor and goes through many examples in class. Attendance is taken, COMING TO CLASS IS VERY IMPORTANT, she goes through stuff that's not in the book and explains things better. Graded by 4 tests and online quizzes; the tests are very heavy but she allows you to bring a cheat sheet for formulas etc.
Favorite catchphrase is, "Welcome to statistics!" If you hate stats take Dr. Juhn's class. She tries to make the class relatable and often repeats concepts to drill them into your head. On exams will count points off for very small things so take your time. Homework isn't graded but I strongly recommend you do it just to make sure you're doing ok.
Dr. Juhn is an amazing professor, syllabus is clear. She is always willing to help. You need the book for quiz answers. There are 16 (easy) quizzes and she drops 2. There are 4 tests (moderate) and optional hw. Tests are worth 92% of your grade, online quizzes are worth 7% and attendance is 1%. Don't miss class. Tutoring is available & recommended.
This professor's teaching style is not for everyone. She throws out random thoughts and ideas with no structure or foundation tying them together. Exams can be lengthy and difficult to do well on despite understanding the material. There are no powerpoints and notes are generally useless in helping you study. Go to office hours & join study groups.
Attendance was not mandatory online, but she mentioned things in the lectures that would be on the exams/quizzes that have no mention in the textbook. She didn't allow her TAs to give out any answer keys for the problem sets, didn't allow backtracking on online quizzes, and assigned many arbitrary rules for grading that the textbook doesn't mention
Unorganized and unrefined tests
Makes this subject unnecessarily difficult.
Extremely hard to manage in the midst of COVID. Her lectures are hardly useful as her applications of concepts are mostly arbitrary in the 2 exams she gives, which are the only grades that are weighed besides the 5 quizzes. Doesn't release answer keys to study guides, not even in TA sessions. Statistically, you're better off taking another prof.
Essentially a math class that is given online yet she still only grades based on 5 quizzes and 2 exams total and no option for extra credit. Speaks very quickly during lecture and it is hard to keep up. Does not seem to be understanding about the times or circumstances. Easily the worst/hardest class I have taken at UTD so far.
Very difficult class. Very few grades (5 quizzes, 2 exams). Not clear enough on topics, just reads from the slides. TA's hold sessions, professor does not. Miss a class, very hard to keep up or review.
I took Research Methods I & II w/ Dr. Juhn (masters). These courses were far more in-depth than anything I had taken. Dr. Juhn helped me understand this course by being available during office hours, gave extra examples/practice homework, and related things to something I could understand. She is someone who helps strive students to succeed.
I took RMII with Dr. Juhn when we had to switch over to online in March 2019. Dr. Juhn was incredibly flexible with students and was understanding of the many situations that were going on in students' life. She still held office hours and was willing to give extra time to students who reached out and needed it.
I had to teach myself from the book because she goes off in tangents in class and her TAs do the best they can. Frustrates me because I pay my own tuition only to have to teach myself. Stayed in the class's GroupMe and saw most people didn't pass the final exam but she gave a generous curve bc of how many people failed
Prof. Juhn is one of the most amazing statistics professors I've had. She is engaging, extremely professional, yet fun to learn from. She goes the extra mile and makes sure you understand instead of giving anxiety-ridden assignments.
Very difficult material to teach, all professors who teach it are poor at it. Juhn is no exception, but she helps make the classroom environment less hostile and cut-throat. While I would not recommend her, she has been the lesser of two evils in my experience. She's a very tough grader - doesn't tell you what she expects of you
Great professor. She truly cares and as long as you attend lecture (and TA sessions if needed) and pay attention you will do well.
The professor doesn't explain the chapters in depth, finishing one chapter per class while skipping vital information within the chapter that comes up later in the exam.
Dr. Juhn went on so many tangents during lectures. She wouldn't go over topics that the test was heavy on. The homework is a completion grade, but she and the TA will not give the answer keys after the homework was graded, even to check work.
Dr. Juhn is a solid professor for RM. She encourages participation in lectures and to come to office hours if you have any questions. Aside from attending class, it's important to read the textbook, as there are some concepts that aren't covered. Exams can feel like a time crunch - but she's generous with extra credit/curving final grades.
This course is not an "easy A" but an A is still super possible. There were 11 homework assignments that were completion grades and 4 exams (no comprehensive final). If you take good notes and create a solid note sheet for the exam you'll be fine in this course. Exams take a while to get graded, but there is a ton of partial credit given.
She is good but sometimes confusing. I recommend reading the book about stuff she talks about until you understand. Talk to the TA and attend every lecture. Do not lack in this class to get an A
Had to take this class towards my research methods core and it was a very difficult class. Difficult due to how the class was taught, thrown into the course material from day 1,regardless if you had prior background in research statistics or not this class was exceptionally difficult. The homework is helpful.Teaches class different from the book.
Incoherent, inconsistent, examples that she gives lead away from the essence of the things she is trying to explain, confuses concepts and formulas. Get ready to do 90% of self-teaching through youtube and/or other open sources. Or better - take someone else!
