Such a GPA killer. Not nice, careless and honest (not in a good way). She's obviously there just for the money, not cuz she actually cares about the students. The assignments are impossible to understand and she refuses to help at all.

Does not let you know what your grade is, even when you directly ask. Never gives assignments back. No syllabus. Unorganized and unclear about expectations.

Her voice is very hard to listen to for long periods of time. I couldn't stand being in her class. She's a very mean and unprofessional person and not helpful at all. The work load isn't outrageous, but I recommend choosing another professor if possible.

She does not give enough examples. She says that learning is dictated by the questions that we ask, but rolls her eyes and sighs whenever someone asks for clarification. She constantly talks down to her students and compares herself to other professors. The course material is not hard to grasp, but the tests are tough due to time constraints.

By far the worst teacher I have had at UWB. She is very disrespectful/condescending towards students and would get visibly irritated when we would ask questions just saying "you guys really need to start paying attention, I said this last week" about a small detail in a 2 hour lecture. You should be prepared to be constantly insulted and berated.

Extremely disorganized, does not lecture, and gives contradicting feedback. Her class is ridiculous. This is a "flipped" classroom so she does not teach, and you basically have to to go sit with her during office hours, and figure out her feedback which is always different. She will also get irritated if you question her too much.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. Her grading is random and based on how she is feeling that day. She also didn't grade ANY assignments until after the drop deadline, despite having very strict deadlines. Never returned our midterms. Does not answer emails, despite important questions regarding mistakes with her grading. Rude. Condescending.

This Professor is highly disorganized and is posting assignments a day before its due. She seems to be creating a environment where she is rewarding students that are familiar with her and that she thinks should succeed. Avoid at all cost!

Gave good feedback on papers, but the grading was very random. Never handed back midterms, or put grades in Did not know my grade until deadline day. Class was very disorganized, and was very condescending. Would avoid.

Worst professor I've ever had. Gives rude responses to questions. She does not use Canvas, so you don't know your grade until the quarter is over. All you do in the first half of the quarter is work on a 2-page worksheet for each of the 4 assignments for 2 hours which is a waste of time. In the second half, you realize it's all wrong and start over

Bad class, to be honest. Not great for becoming a better writer or communicator. Very inflexible with experimentation in student work, and gives students lower grades than before when they complain. I have a 3.86 overall GPA and got a 2.9 in her class. Change class if you can if you end up with her.

Professor Kool gives online assignments the night before they are due without posting an announcement. This professor is in the CS department but doesn't understand the basics of canvas. You will not know your grade until they are posted at the end of the quarter, and good luck reading her instructions. do NOT take.

Rude and condescending to all students. She's a tough grader and will give you the help you need to pass, but only if you are willing to be talked down to the entire time. Her feedback on paper was often so vague that you're forced to go to office hours if you want to pass. Try to avoid.

For online class, she doesn't respond emails or canvas. Her zoom meetings were published about less than an hour before the first class. For an English teacher, she doesn't keep the tone professional or pleasant. She has horrible communication skills. I don't know how she can work in English when she can't even communicate on her job.

Possibly the worst prof I've had here. Constant mix ups on the syllabus, not clear on assignments, she's completely lost tbh. Take this class if you want to experience pure and utter frustration. Her opinion is the only one that matters, do no make the mistake of thinking that yours matters.

6 years of college professors and I've never had another like her. First-Year Writing is either the best or worst depending on your prof, and she was one of the worst. Her class is just hard and unreasonable. I have no trouble with writing (grad school now) but I felt really bad for her lost students, who struggled immensely in her class.

She is a nightmare. She is condescending and very confrontational. If you registered for class late and you join a meeting and she doesn't recognize you she will confront you in-front of the whole class and embarrassing and honestly awkward. She gives lot's of feedback in her assignments in office hours, but she is unreasonably tough on grading.

Frankly the rudest professor I have ever had. Get ready to be called out in class. In order to get above a 2.9 you MUST go to office hours. No if ands or buts. Just go to office hours, get feedback on all papers, take notes, and do EXACLTY what she says in your paper. She will warm up to you as you get to know her in office hours as well.

She makes an effort to tell us in peer-reviews to be specific and focus on content instead of display, but then nitpicks on display to mark down content points for the final paper. She is clearly not ready for online classes, her organization skills are terrible and half of your work is usually trying to find what the assignment exactly is.

This teacher is seriously the MOST UPSETTING teacher that I have ever had. Grading is very poorly outlined, she's condescending, unhelpful, impatient, and overall just rude. She seems to have a superiority complex and hate for students who miss small details at times. Also her office hours do not help at all. Somehow I have 90% right now.

Nancy is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Constantly complained about Zoom waiting room, gave poor/vague assignment instructions, was condescending while answering questions, and couldn't even use Canvas properly. The midterm hasn't even been graded yet. Avoid her if you can, I'm sure any of the other professors are better than her.

Non-linear structure of course: jumping from HW1 to 2 to 3, back to 1 etc. Professor complained about technology, past quarters, "wasting time" during class. Required students turn on mic/camera. Rarely lectures with a PPT, rambles at length. Some essays were fun. Felt like a "high school" class.

WARNING. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Not meant to teach this class at all. Horrible feedback and poor grading techniques. Isn't comfortable with explaining and treats you as an idiot for asking questions.

Worst teacher I've ever had. Took on Zoom. Not understanding, doesn't care about students. Thinks online is the same as in person. Offers NO partial credit so enjoy harsh grading marks. Just overall not a nice person. I'm retaking this next quarter, hopefully with a better professor. Can't believe I got a 2.0

Delay taking CSS 301 if Kool is your only option. Cryptic, then non-existent feedback. Hostile classroom environment. Non-responsive to email. Less than halfway through the quarter, she stopped grading assignments, including the midterm. From then on, every assignment and the final felt like a crapshoot. Needlessly stressful. Worst prof so far.

Go to her office hours if you have any desire to pass. One of the most difficult classes I've taken and I took BPHYS 121 through 123 so I should know what I'm talking about. Writing isn't even hard for me, but this "type" of writing is absolutely soul-crushing.

Worst professor I have ever had. Can't setup her canvas correctly, grade on time, or produce coherent critera. Grading is very cryptic. Little to no feedback. DO NOT take this professor. It is worth the wait to take it with somebody else. I have never had a teacher this difficult for such a useless course.

Kool is very impatient with students. Lots of the work is very vague and you'll get criticized for not understanding instead of the work being worded better. Lots of the work involved group projects which didn't help my writing. She'll tell you how to edit your paper then criticize the parts that she said as if you wrote it. Just dodge her if u can

GO TO OFFICE HOURS FOR ALL PAPERS. Her grading criterion is subjective and based on what SHE wants so go to office hours and do everything she says to your paper. The ONLY way to get a good grade. She is rude so expect that. You will learn a lot from this class, it is interesting. I just wont take her again because of her attitude.

Runs it like a writing class without any clear expectations or rubrics. Rude and condescending, expects students to "just know" what her expectations are based on coursework from previous classes. Homework barely rates as busy work. Expect writing north of 40 pages for the ten week course.

This teacher didn't like me or my work. I took tech writing with her and was failing the class. I turned in every assignment, received Fs because she "didn't like" my style. I went to the WaCC to try and pass his class but then I decided to withdraw. Hopefully Chini's better cause I'm taking it next fall. AVOID KOOL, SHE IS NOT COOL.

Online content is chaotically unorganized, not in chronological order. Tons of busy work and "side quests". Starts new assignments before finishing previous ones. Read until your eyes fall out. Too many documents to follow. Condescending towards students who ask simple questions. Gets paid to read off documents and slides. Time for her to retire.

Kool's 301 was supposed to be very group/participation/attendance heavy class, but she ended up not putting ANY of those in the final grade bc she was so behind on grading. Never graded midterm. Final grade felt like rolling a dice, I was expecting 0.9 - 3.0. Ended up with a 3.3 bc she only graded the final papers. Could be different every quarter

Wow. Do not ever take a class with Nancy. Extremely rude, humiliates you if you ask questions, and is terrible at grading papers. It's like she's using a Magic 8 Ball to grade our work. She doesn't know how to use tech (canvas, zoom, etc). She is so unorganized it's rediculous. I don't understand how she is a professor at UWB.

Do not take this professor, even if you have no choice. After decades of teaching she still can't figure out how to use Canvas, leaving students with a 20% grade for most of the quarter because "the grading glitched!!" Grading criteria is ridiculously vague - you can ask her for feedback and fix everything she says and end up with a lower score.

Heavy reading, tough grader, don't know how to use canvas. If you skip class you won't understand anything in the Exam. AVOID!

Although I learned a lot from her, she is very frustrating to work with. Has office hours but is never there. Does not respond to any emails sent to her. Grades very late, it's the last week of the quarter and almost nothing has been graded. A big part of this class is getting feedback to improve your writing and I haven't gotten any of that.

She did not grade any of the assignments until the last day of quarter, and most assignments were never graded, including the final. She does not give feedback to any of the papers if you don't give her a paper copy, which she said is optional to turn in! Avoid this teacher if you need a good grade in this class.

It is NEVER clear how the end paper should look like. We have samples/requirements, we bring drafts and fix it many times, then you get Kool's feedback with comments like "See samples" (I saw samples - its same). Fixing it all barely increases grade to +0.2 out of 4.0. Opening hours with Kool did not get a better result. It's ALL a waste of time!!!

I am astounded that this professor has graduate degrees in English but cannot teach basic writing in a consistent or effective way. Her grading is completely random and arbitrary. UWB can do MUCH better.

There were so many assignments that I remember that were given 2-3 days prior to the due date without warning. These assignments were often given vague instructions that fail to detail what expectations are without reading the textbooks. Also, her expectations on draft assignments specifically are very high, so do your drafts like it's your final.

I genuinely believe she is racist. Would always unfairly judge my work so to test, one time when she came around the class to check our work I decided to switch papers with my white classmate to make sure. As usual she found a bunch of nitpicks in mine but said his was perfect when she didn't realize it was actually my work. Happened multiple times

Beware - If there is another option, take it. Tons of assignments right off the bat that all have very intense grading and requirements. I usually do well with writing classes but this one was unlike anything I have had in the past. Many links are broken in canvas so you cant get a head start and only have 3 days to work on an assignment.

Horrible is an understatement! I often use this website and always thought that the students who gave their professors a bad rating must have not been diligent in the class and ended up with a bad grade hence take their frustration out on the professor. But I can confirm, easily the worst professor I have EVER had. Avoid her if you can at all costs

I'll never forget the first day of class she told a student with speech difficulties "That's enough from you" after he asked more questions than she was interested in answering.

terrible professor, often tells students to shut up or be quiet. doesnt have a quiz or exam timeline. often changes criteria for some students she likes and doesnt like. rude and offensive, told an exchange student to stop talking because they couldnt understand him. very tough grader and creates different points to remove points.

If you are someone who puts in the effort to get at least a 3.8 in all of your classes, all I can say is good luck my friend.

My least enjoyable class as a UW student by far. She will walk around and read some students' drafts out loud and essentially publicly shame them for mistakes. She is very condescending and will say some passive aggressive remark if you did not follow the specifications. Her feedback is handwritten but illegible. Whistles and shh's blaringly loud.

Professor won't grade a huge portion of the assignments until after the final, so you won't know what your grade is until its done. Also, she grades very poorly. Average student grade for exams is 70, and average for the final is 60. If you need to take this class, switch professors ASAP.

She will grade more towards the low side. You will also have to negotiate every quiz, test, exam you take. Also, most of your assignments aren't graded till after the final, so you have no idea what your final grade will be.

Do your self a favor and do NOT take her course. It was single handedly the worst experience I have had at UWB. There is no clear grading for her quizzes or tests, she will tell you one thing yet expects another, so overall she is very contradictory which make studying and taking quizzes difficult.

A washed up professor that really doesn't know what she's doing AT ALL when it comes to grading writing assignments. Each grade is an opportunity for her to go on some sort of delusional ego-trip, which in the context of grading barely makes any sense. Take her class if you want to experience what it means.

Took BIS 421 with her, the class and her teaching style is insulting to anyone with a schedule. Extremely inconsistent "vibes based" grading, no respect for other's time. would never take again.

Worst Professor I ever had, literally the worst. Don't take the class with her unless you need to. All she do is sit in class and let you read the syllabus, and do all the writing yourself. Every time when someone try to ask a question, she'll say did you read the syllabus? I don't want answer that question, you should known the answer. Avoid her!
