Interesting class and good instructor, but tends to favor certain students.

I found this professor to be extremely annoying. She tries to scare you into thinking that college is extremely hard and that you can't do anything else but study in your life. The class was fairly easy though. Attending events for a grade was annoying.

Dr. Merlino is an awesome professor. She is understanding of student's needs and really goes out on a limb to help. I've taken several of her classes, and she is clear and very knowledgable. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Merlino is the best! She truly cares about all of her students and wants to see them succeed. She definitely believes in tough love and pushes all of her students. She's nice, caring, and a great teacher! Take her class if you get the chance!

I would never have graduated on time without her help. She helped ease me into a major that I am good at and that I enjoy doing. Seriously the best advisor I have ever had. Her classes aren't easy per say but as long as you pay attention and do your work you will get a good grade.

Took her AG401 course in the Fall. There are a LOT of writing assignments in this class, so you can't slack off. It's a VERY easy A if you do all of the work.

As an advisor Dr. Merlino is amazing. If you know what you want and what you need from here she will help you however she can. As a professor she expects a lot from students so as to push us to learn and challenge us. She has written recommendation letters and has helped me in a number of ways. She is challenging and extremely sweet and caring.

Dr. Merlino made my years at Cal Poly worthwhile and productive. Her advising planned out the best schedule for me and we continually talked about my future career plans. She is knowledgeable, committed, and truly wants each and every student to be successful. You have to go to class and put effort into her projects, but it is well worth the work.

Merlino definitely made my time at Cal Poly worthwhile. She truly cares about the students and wants to see you succeed. In saying this, be prepared to sit in front, attend class, and don't be afraid to double check on anything. Projects were fun to me, but be prepared to change up whole project if she doesn't like how presentations are going.

Nancy Merlino is the best professor a college student could ask for, she is also an awesome advisor. She truly cares about her students, and is willing to go the distance for them. Awesome professor! Understandable and respectful. Online class consists of weekly writing assignments that are 250 words minimum and 2 papers (midterm and final) that are 1000 words minimum. She is a fair grader and would definitely take her again.

I just finished taking her online class for summer and she was awesome! She grades very quickly. You have to write a 250 word assignment each week and there are two 1,000 word papers. The topics are actually pretty interesting and the book is easy to read! If you don't mind writing, take her class! She gives great feedback too and also extra points

Truly interesting class! Highly recommended. This online class consists of 5 book assignments and 2 papers, lots of writing. The book she assigns is an easy read, and incredibly interesting. Her grading criteria is very straightforward and clear. If you want to get an A in the class, just make sure you follow her rubrics and read the instructions.

I took this online class for 2017 Summer quarter and it was not as stressful as I thought it would be. I am not a great with writing, but just follow the rubric and go over your essays before submitting. Prof. assigns a small and affordable book that is easy to read and carry around. It is not a dreadful book to read. I recommend taking her.

Dr. Merlino is an absolute gem for CPP. She is the most caring professor I've ever had! I had a hard time with an assignment and she was so kind as to call me and clarify! All she wants is for you to succeed and it's easy to do so by following the rubrics for the five 250 word weekly writing assignments and two 1000 word papers. Highly suggested!!!

Dr. Merlino is hands down one of the best professors around! I took her 402 class and she always told us that this policy book will get us jobs. Well I walked into an interview and they asked if I had experience in policies so I pulled out the book and bam the job was mine! She prepares us for our lives and I cant thank her enough.

Dr. Merlino has a genuine passion for her students. Her teaching style is fair and upfront, you will always know exactly where you stand with her, but her big heart allows her to see everyone's potential and she helps them see it even when they can't. Dr. Melino is accessible outside of class and is always willing to help with a positive attitude.

If you show effort in any of her classes, she will not fail you. Do the work, show up to class, participate, you'll be fine. Class consisted of 1 group project, weekly journal, and classwork.

I took Dr Merlinos course online. She is absolutely a great Professor. Her papers are a challenge to write, but make sure you have your resources. Once you begin to write them, you will get the hang of them. She give great feedback on your paper when she grades them. If you do your readings and follow the rubric, everything will be just great.

I try to take any and every class I can with Dr. Merlino. She is truly passionate about her job and the students she works with. She is about that tough love. She wants to see you retaining information and having a practical use, this isn't a class where you are worried about boring homework or busy work, but everything is based on the real world.

I have never loved a professor more. I know and believe that she cares for all her students and what them to understand how the working world really is. She is willing to help you with anything and loves class participation and discussion. She will go out of her way for you if you do what's expected and go above and beyond.

Must Take!!! Dr. Merlino is perhaps the greatest professor I have encountered here at Cal Poly Pomona. She goes above and beyond for her students in ways I've never seen other professors do. She is super genuine, has a passion for what she teaches and is one of those people who values the material that should be learned rather than exams or grades.

She makes sure you understand essential business tools that will help you in the real world. We do group projects that are very hands on and require exploration or a deeper level of thinking to test if your ideas are feasible. She provides great feedback and wants you to learn. Very good person at heart and truly cares, wants to see you develop.

Professor Merlino is amazing, her online class is super organized. You're expected to write papers every two weeks off of textbook topics but the text is available for audiobook via youtube, just put "The Fundamentals of Ethics" into the search bar. As long as you keep up with the papers and readings you'll do just fine.

Took Professor Merlino for my online Ag4010 and her class is very organized. You do have to read two chapters every two weeks and write a paper on it but she gives detailed instructions and as long as you follow the rubic, you'll recieve full points. She is understanding too if you reach out to her and have any concerns or questions.

Professor Merlino really cares about her students. There might be a lot of writing but her grading criteria is very clear and she is a very fair grader. Would take her again any time of the semester.

Lectures, discussion board, and quiz every week but its easy. If you do all the work and stay focused you will pass with an A. I had a 88% at the end of the semester and she opened up a quiz I missed which I took and it brought my grade up to a 91%. She is very nice and understanding I would highly recommend taking this online class.

Great Professor! Her online class only required 7 papers with a minimum of 250 words, so it was easily doable. The final was only a 1,200 word paper from watching a movie. Once all of my classes moved to online due to COVID-19, I was mixed up with my due dates and missed an assignment. She let me turn it in late for full credit! Highly recommend!

Professor Merlino is great! Her online class is very organized. As long as you follow her guidelines for the papers then you should be good. You definitely need to read the chapters she assigns to read in order to make clear connections to your papers. This was an easy A.

I'm currently taking an Asynchronous class with her and the class is really great! I like the workload and the structure of the class, plus Professor Merlino is super understanding. She reset a test for me when my cat closed my tabs and I hadn't finished the test yet. I definitely recommend taking her class!

7 3 paragraph essays and 1 final paper. As long as you follow her specific format and write over 450 work you will get at least a 100 on all 7 essays. she gives you 2 weeks to complete each essay which is more than enough time since it would take me at most a day to complete. papers are due a 10:59pm though which is weird to watch out

Dr. Merlino's Ethics course is a great class to take. Assignments are only papers due every two weeks and requires a bit of reading and finding online sources. Don't forget to take her first Quiz! She gives feedback on every paper and is only out to make you a better writer in Ethics.

During this online semester, she was very understanding of everyone's situations. She was not too strict on deadlines and gave everyone an opportunity to catch up at the end of the semester. I'm sure it will be different in person but she is an overall great person.

She is very caring and understand of her students, especially with everything online due to COVID. Assignments are fairly understandable, and there aren't a bunch of thing you have to do. Either discussion board, quiz, or a short-ish essay due every week, very manageable. Gives extensions and is very kind!

Each week alternates a discussion board post of 300 words based on book chapters + 2 reply posts of 100 words or a 3 paragraph essay based on a video around a topic from the book. MC quizzes given infrequently, no time limit. One final 1200 word paper based on a movie. APA sources needed for all essays. Follow her format criteria and you are good

She makes it very clear what you need to do in this class from her organized setup to the directions of each assignment. Discussion posts & replies, book assignments, quizzes, & one final paper. She is very understanding of circumstances that may come up. She helps you when you need it so just put in the effort & you'll do great. Take her class!

I took this class as fully asynchronous. Dr. Merlino was very organized with her assignments and materials. The work assigned was time consuming but she graded fairly. She was also very easy to reach as well as understanding. Quizzes were easy and essentially open book. Wasn't the most fascinating but definitely an easy A if you complete your work.

For an async class, it was pretty good. The content could be frustrating, but I think that is because I just wasn't very interested in ag. Learned lots and the book was interesting. Assignments could be a lot, but that is to be expected of a college course. Mostly writing. I like async classes and this one was no different than the norm

This was the easiest class I took this semester. Professor Merlino was super understanding and was really lenient as she let me turn in late assignments for full credit. Some of the work can be a bit lengthy as there are minimum word counts that had to be reached for discussion posts and topic papers, but overall really recommend taking this class.

I liked Ms. Merlinos class. It was just a GE requirement but I learned a lot. She is pretty specific about the papers and discussions but her canvas page has all the details you need. It seems like a lot at first but it's pretty easy once you get going. Buying the APA book she recommended was helpful, it was only $12 on Amazon. Take her class!

Dr. Merlino's class is well organized and has a clear structure. She makes sure that students know what to do, and if you do it the way it's designed, you'll be able to get the grades you want. She is amazing and barve for including some food industry documentaries and discussions in her class that reveal some hidden truths about our food industry.

Dr Merlino is a very organized and clear instructor. The tests are very easy as they are based off of her power points word for word. The class is easy just a lot of writing. As long as you reach her word count you are pretty much fine. If you write extra she will also give you extra points. Very easy to get an A.

She grades very easy. If you do the work on time, you will most likely be fine. Beware of due dates though! Especially for the online course, due dates for assignments are not very clearly posted. Besides the lack of organization, the work is straightforward. You will need the textbook as she assigns work on that throughout most of the course.

You really learn a lot and the class involves lots of essays. I was not aware of how to do APA style format and citations because my high school did not teach this kind of style. I felt really prepared when I took English courses. She is really understanding when you email her if you need to submit your paper late.

Essays must be in APA with scholarly references and discussion posts are minimum 450 words and must include citations from the book. It does require effort and she does provide feedback. If you follow her guidelines you will pass.

By no means a hard class, but it can definitely be a load of work. Papers due every other week and discussion posts every other week as well. This class was definitely more annoying than it was challenging, but it's an asynchronous class so you can't expect much. Her guidelines for her papers aren't clear at all, but you should still pass.

Great professor, even if you do not cite correctly she will not report you unless you obviously plagiarized. So many papers and discussions are due every other week but she is a lenient grader. She was also very responsive to emails. Cant go wrong with her for agriculture classes

LOTS of reading and 300 word discussion posts, a topic paper (600 words) or two paragraph assignment (450 words), and a 10 mcq quiz every week. She gives a lot of time to complete assignments though and every module is open from the start of the semester, so you can get ahead. No final, just a term paper (1200 words) by the end of the semester.

Really easy teacher to take, you can pass the class easily along as you do all the work, and you don't have to worry about late work because she'll lets turn it in until the last week of class. I would highly recommend taking her asynchronies class it was super easy and actually learned a little.

Great instructor! Super easy to contact, and she is very prompt with her replies. Her grading rubric is very clear. No quizzes or exams, just a three-paragraph paper every other week followed by a discussion post. If you put in genuine effort she gives extra credit on assignments, & I learned a lot! If you've taken AP Lang/Lit or any other college writing class and done well it's an easy A. Basically just reading a short passage from the textbook and watching a linked video to explain a topic. Pattern of one 2 paragraph assignment one week, followed by a 450 word paper and 20 question quiz bi-weekly.

I never met her (online course) but she tests based off the rubric so just follow it and you should be fine. sides certain format (I already forgot if it's apa or mla) but really easy to write. Prompts are provided clearly so is test so do what you must.
