this lady seems like she doesnt cut people slack. she clearly explains her lessons but alot of her classes are still doing poorly mabye she should consider just sticking to high school level
I hated math and was always bad until i had this teacher. she is sooo organized and really takes the time to make sure that you know what she is talking about before moving on! The best prep teacher out there!!!
Mrs. Steele is an excellent teacher. She does all of her notes in outline form. She is extremely strict, however about absences and tardiness. I think this was the first time ever I got an A in math. A+++ teacher!
She is very clear in teaching, she will help you and she reviews before giving the test. I would take her if she taught another class.
I LOVED HAVING MRS.STEELE FOR MY PREP 1 TEACHER. SHE REVIEWS EVERYTHING AND IS ALWAYS WILLING TO STAY AFTER CLASS TO GIVE YOU EXTRA HELP IF YOU NEED IT. I THINK HAVING MRS. STEELE AS MY MATH TEACHER IS ONE OF THE TOP REASONS I WAS ABLE TO STICK WITH IT.
Prof.Steele is not only an excellent teacher but she is funny as well. She takes her time, understands how you came up with your "own" way and shows you the right way. She will listen to every thing you say and genuinly cares about her students. You will not find another math teacher with her passion, understanding and patients.
Excellent teacher. I would advise anyone who's weak in math to choose her as your professor. She's professional, funny, helpful and very clear. She will not move on with the lesson unless everyone understands what has been taught.
I have experienced the unforgiving algebra class 3 times. I was not excited about taking it again. Nancy Steele, with her great passion for her work, has opened my brain to excepting the formulas and such to stick in there and actually learn this material. I am proud to say that I no longer fear algebra and enjoy it. I HIGHLY recommend her.Thank U.
She was great. I now actually understand the beginings of algebra. I never felt nervous going to class, which I had with other math classes. She is very thorough and a wonderful person.
She was not clear on what she wanted in our work. She called me a lier in front of the class becuse she said I couldnt do the work in my head. I did get good grades on the tests but she failed me becuse she would not accept my work. She said I didn't show enough work. I turned in over 5 chapters before she told me she would not take my work.
horrible teacher. i feel she should even be teaching math she buzzes through way to fast isnt very helpful and doesnt seem to care if you pass or fail. she should also dress a little more professional for her age!
She goes way to fast. She gives a quiz every day, and on Mon. is the Test. Also She is a hard grader, she does not give partial credit.
Average... no partial credit, but if you are respectful and nice to her you won't have a problem. if only she could match her clothes better....
She doesnt care if you pass or fail. Very poor test reviews. She is very nice and respectful but has a sink or swim attitude toward her students.
Considering her teaching skills behind the podium she's awesom. Very clear, takes time with the students ( 2 an extent) and she's intellegent. But she is quote " a stickler" she has absolutly no forgiveness for anything. She's more conserend about teaching responsibility( even if its out of your hands) then helping the students to succeed in math.
she's hard! she will not give you a passing grade, even if your'e a point away! If your good in math take her! if not,... don't!
Horrible math teacher, she doesnt have "time to anwser questions about the homework" and as soon as u walk in class u have a test or a quiz every class. So if you cant figure it out on your own your screwed for the test or quizes
She doesn't have time for slow math students, please if you are smart take it with her, otherwise don,t bother.
She was fair with me she tried all she could to give me extra points. Her lesson plans are amazing and she is very organized. However she does speak to her students like they are children. She is a good math teacher ,but she should consider teaching kindergarden iam serious!
Nancy Steele is an awesome teacher. I took her for Prep I, II and Inter., and she was extremely helpful. You can't go wrong with her notes. people complain about her being elementary, well some people need that if they are not good in math.
An excellent teacher. She does teach high school so she sometimes treats you like a child, but her notes are EXCELLENT and she really does care whether you pass or not. She tries very hard.
I had algebra phobia big time prior to taking this class. Ms. Steele's lecture and notes were clear and concise.
Very Good Teacher! She is very strict, but you will earn your grade. She is very helpful. You will defintely learn from her.
Ms. Steele is a great teacher. She is organized and very structured. You must do your homework and stay ahead in it. She was very clear in her instructions, but moved at a rapid pace through the material. if you have a basic understanding of algebra, you will do fine. I wish she could teach all my math classes. :)
i had her over the summer and i thought she was the worst professor i have had. she said she didnt finish high school geometry and that she barely made it though passing her masters degree. and then after telling the class that she did a problem on the board and then earsed it and said just to forget that b/c it was completely wrong.
Absolutely wonderful. Sad she's not teaching college algebra. Learned alot. made my return successful and enjoyable. Still dresses funny.
HAD HER FOR THE SUMMER AND ALL I CAN SAY IS SHE IS AWESOME!!! CLEAR AND CONCISE!
Nancy is the greatest, and an A+ dresser.Such taste!Such class!Such refined elegance!"It is the east, and Nancy Steele is the sun."And the best neighbor a guy could ask for.
Very good teacher. I would recommend her to any student. Do you homework, come to class and study you are sure to make an "A". Even if you are not a good math student her lectures are outline and easy to follow. I would definitely choose her again as an instructor.
She teaches the easy side of the subjects. Won't review homework problems, doesn't have the time. She tests strictly from her own notes. But when the final arrives, surprise! surprise! The material was never covered.
Ms. Steel is an excellent teacher. Would recommend her to any student. Lectures are outline which is a great help. Willing to stay late if needed. Comment made about the finals is not true. If you pass all test then final was a breeze.
what she taeches isnt the same as it is in text book. the homework is useless
Nancy Steele is an incredible professor. The best math professor I ever had. It is no wonder she had won "Teacher of Year" for Palm Beach County a couple years ago. Nancy is an asset to the education foundation and her dedication to the profession of teaching is evident in the top grade instruction she brings to the class room.
Good teaching styles, however tends to stretch out topics too long. She will keep you the entire class time, no getting out early. Down side is you can tell when she's stretching class, as she messes up a lot and confuses you. Other than that, quiz ever class and homework is a must.
DONT TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING!!! SHE CRAMS EVERYTHIG IN DID NOT EVEN TEACH EVERY THING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR TEST, AND ALL HER TEST AND QUIZES ARE FILL IN THE BLANK NO MULITALE CHOICE AT ALL!!! AND SHE WILL TAKE OFF POINTS FOR ANYTHING EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER, SHE MAKES YOU STAY THE WHOLE TIME AND IF YOUR LUCKY YOU WILL GET A 10MIN BREAK
she is a great math teacher. be ready to stay in class until the end. do ur homework and study you will be fine
I am retarded when it comes to math. But this professor is great. She outlines her notes, great organization. So when your at home, it helps having clearity. She is very thorough. Give you alot of HW but that just help your grade. Best Math Teacher by far. I've been thru a few at PBCC, Iknow. lol
Mrs. Steele was definitely the best math teacher i've had since who knows when. She makes the ridiculously long class interesting. Yes, you will have to go to every class and you won't leave early. but you'll definitely be ready for your next math class. wonderful woman, highly recommended. everything is taught for tests, just pay attention
She is tough but a good teacher. You have to do all homework and really study for quizes and tests. Not an easy class but what math class is?
her tests are hard.. she didnt give much partial credit .. she grades hard.. im a good math student and i didnt do well.. but she teaches well.. very in depth you'l defenitly learn.. but tests... OUCH!! if your not a good test taker.. seek another teacher
She is nice, but very very fast! oh and if you take her make sure to take your notes in pencil (she changes her mind a lot) But i wouldnt necessarily suggest anyone taking her unless you are already good at math! good luck!
She is a good teacher, but she moves very fast. She is clear and explains things if you don't understand. Her tests are pretty hard, they are all fill in the blank, and the problems are much more difficult than the examples. You must attend every class and do all the HW or the test will be impossible.
Very hard teacher, she explains things clearly, but the tests are crazy! They are fill in the blank and I always felt unprepared for them. She is a very busy lady, so finding help is challanging. I have always been very good in math and had A's and I barely made a B.
She is a nice person but dosn't take the time to help. I went to her for advice and help and didn't get much. I receive and A in albebra prep 1 and 2. I go to her class and make a D. She likes the math done her way and written out her way. She does give good notes and handouts if your a note person. All in all she wasn't for me.
She is a great teacher, very nice, but she doesn't take crap from anyone. If you are a lazy student, she will make you get off your butt or you'll fail. If you do the hw and study, you should get a good grade. If you don't understand math at all, TAKE HER!! She explains why and where you might use intermediate algebra.
Just pay attention and study the handouts because if youre not good in math then I suggest you dont take her because she gives out fill in the blank test which is hard.
One of the best math teachers you can get, her calss is not the easiest among other professors, but you will get the best foundation with her. very helpful, explains everything and well organized.
Teacher is by far the worst...She does go with the book but teaches it her way. Test are all of your grade and are nothing related to what she goes over in prior classes up to the test. Do not take her unless you strong in math or need a helping hand. She will leave you high and dry. She needs to be fired and make room for teachers who want this mo
I started this class two weeks ago, and I am already behind. She goes UNBELIEVABLY fast, and gets annoyed if you have a question. I would NOT suggest her. If you plan to get a degree in Math, that's one thing.. I just need to pass the class to move forward. She's always late, and a quiz EVERY class in the beginning. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is a really stict teacher on a schedule, bad mix because if you miss a class then you'll end up being behind,She is really fast. Reaching her outside of class is impossible and aside from all the work we do we also have to keep a folder, organized in her way and we get graded on our folders. If you are good at math go for it,if not then don't!
She is an awesome teacher! If you work hard, are disciplined with homework and study you will get an A. She is very clear in her presenting style, organized and breaks down how to do a problem, step by step. Very important if you are trying to remember how to do a problem. For those who don't leave class early, she will do reviews for the tests
Best Math Teacher Ever! If you want teacher who knows what shes talking about and actually teaches you step by step then take her. If your not ready to pay attention or have the right mind set then your not ready for her close.
Her way or the wrong way!
She FLYS through everything. I aced Prep I and II but am only 3 weeks into this class and sinking fast. She is VERY hard to get a hold of. She wants our notebooks set up "her way" (which is very unorganized as far as I am concerned.
It was almost 20 years since I have seen algebra and I had a 4.0 before messing with the evil cryptic number torture. She emphasized setting up a binder and I was thinking this was going to suck. Then we had a substitute who really sucked (being told I was in the wrong class 8 times if confused) and now I appreciate her organization and method.
She is a horrible teacher. I was struggling in her class and would go to math lab at least 3 times a week and would try to talk to her after class she didn't care at all. She flys through everything. She should stick to being a middle school teacher as she says. She's a very rude proffesor. It doesn't seem like she has a passion for her job!
this teacher is awesome, i am not sure what everyone else is talking about. they must be the people who do not do their homework, dont take notes, or go to class. I have an A in the class. she explains everything step by step. I have not been in a math class in over 10 years! best advise: attend every class, take notes, and homework!
She was wonderful! One of the easiest and clearest math teachers I have ever had. She'll go step by step with you until everyone in the room understand the process. Purrrfection. I just wish she taught college algebra!
THERES REALLY NOTHING TO SAY. DOESNT ANSWER QUESTIONS, MOVES TO FAST AND DOESNT SEEM TO CARE IF YOU ARE UNDERSTANDING OR NOT.
Very abrasive!! Almost a caustic personality. No doubt she knows her Math but I'm too old to be treated so rudely - especially when I'm paying for the class. I had an A in Basic I and Basic II, so I know math but I don't have time for personalities such as hers.
I am a strong math student seeking an engineering degree. Teacher knows math well but doesn't know how t teach. I get the feeling she is just in it for the extra check. She is also a High School Teacher. Doesnt talk to you but talks at you. I have 2 more months with her r and cannot wait to be done with her.
Awesome professor. She did all problems step by step and clarified if there were any questions. She moved quickly as it was an accelerated class. If you do not comprehend math skills quickly.. opt for a full semester one. It was refreshing that she did not allow rudeness or cell phone use in the class..too bad some people find this "abrasive".
I am taking her now..she is a very good teacher and she knows what she is teaching. She likes everything to be organized and clear when doing homework. If you are bad at math i would take her. She is very strict on cell phone usage and talking in class which is a good thing so everyone can learn
She knows her subject and how to teach it. Obsessively organized and expects the same from you (not a bad thing). No talking, cell phones,or rudeness- how nice to be able to concentrate! If you do the homework, pay attention and maybe go to the math lab once or twice you should get an A-B. Would take her again.
Loved the class Prof Steele ran. Although she did not appreciate the comments I made in class(some admittedly ridiculous or redundant) she taught the class well. Tests were only on the notes so don't expect super difficult questions on the test. Steele does not answer hypothetical questions as they take time from the class. She is a great teacher.
Great Professor! Study your notes and stay organized and you will do good. She cares and makes sure everyone understands. It's nice having no cell phones in class! There is a ton of homework but the Math Dept makes it up, not her. She taught me a lot about how to apply math to real life. Great!
Best math teacher ever. as long as you pay attention and come to class and do homework, you should be fine.i barely passed. it was my own fault. i took her summer 12, she's so hot.....
This lady is by far one of the WORST professors I've ever taken. PLEASE if you are NOT good at math, do NOT TAKE HER. Her tests are super hard, she's an extremely hard grader, and she's ridiculously disorganized and forgetful. She's never on time, slow at grading. If you stink at math, please don't take her. She will make your GPA drop like crazy!
She is a bit anal, however she is very thorough and organized and if you are willing, you will definitely learn in her class.
She knows her math well but gets mixed up when teaching. She will give wrong answers to the equations. Goes very fast and doesn't care if what she teaches sinks in. I did all the homework and went to every class and did everything she said and still I was confused. Being told your in the wrong class is a little ridiculous if you passed the prep.
You will need to do ALL homework and be at every class. I went to every lass and even went to every SI study group 2 hrs before class and got a low B. She does grade hard but she is fair, she doesn't test on something she hasn't covered in her notes. Study hard, that is all. She brings math into a real life perspective. I would 100% take her again!
She's a easy teacher to take if u actually pay attention n follow ur notes. She gave entirely to much homework for express class. She make u keep a notebook like ur in middle school which I felt belittled bc we in college not in middle. She takes off points for not doing problems exactly her way even if the answer is correct.
It's called express for a REASON. 10 chapters in 11 classes, you should know going into it, it'll go fast. She's a GREAT teacher Sometimes makes a mistake, but don't we all, after 10 hours of math in a day cut the lady a break! There is homework but how do you learn concepts if you don't practice them? This is college people! I'd def take her again
She knows her stuff but constantly made mistakes. Keeping a notebook sucks, 2 much HW for express class. She still could have given less HW for the same benefit. Her tests r exactly like the notes so study them & practice even if u were taught differently. She takes longer than normal(30min) breaks bc she needed it when we could have left earlier.
She is a very good professor. She occasionally gets mixed up and it may get hard to follow, but if you are paying attention you can catch her. Test are just like the notes so STUDY THEM! No cell phone use in class what so ever. Don't take this class during the summer it is painful but doable.
10 years in the military. It was a culture shock. I've never had a adult talk to me like I was a child or tell me how I had to write 'my' notes. Class was easy. If you pay attention she will lead you to an A.
If you pay attention and have a decent grasp of math you will be fine. Do the work and extra credit. She knows her math and tries to make it easy for you.
Her character and attitude will lead you to get it together and work your way up or complain about this and that and quit. Professor Nancy is an outstanding instructor.
Rude, disrespectful, makes test dates earlier for own convenience, shows past fifteen minutes late and fails us for leaving...there are so many things that shouldn't be allowed. I really needed to pass this class, her attitude ruined that for me. The moment I slipped up she immediately acted like I might fail and stressed me out. No encouragment
I have never been good at math but Prof. Steele's teaching method has helped me get an A so far. She makes everything clear, and tries to compare things to real life which makes math seem not as pointless as it usually does. I wish she was teaching my next math class because I need a good math teacher.
I know math because of professor Steele. Attend her class, write the notes down and study them, and you will pass. She will look scary and look uneasy, but trust me, just study the notes she gives you..you'll be fine. I got a C because I slacked at the end of the semester.. before that I had an A!
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. I typically give teachers decent scores, but this one was truthfully horrible. She treated her students like children, was very pessimistic, and hardly made sense. She didn't like answering any questions, and was very rude. What's the point of being a teacher if you don't encourage and help students? Sad.
Horrible teacher! She's seriously beyond disrespectful. She does not treat her students with any sort of respect. Even if you get over the fact that she's just not a nice person , she will pick on you in class if you don't answer a question right and really makes you feel uncomfortable in front of the whole class. Causes major anxiety, DONT TAKE!
One of the hardest profs. I have taken. I do not recommend if you are not good at math. She is VERY fast, and does not like repeating herself. She is there to teach it, and you are responsible for teaching it to yourself if you do not understand. I withdrew from her class and took another professor and passed. Would never take again. Save your $.
Professor Steele treats her students like children which doesn't come as a surprise due to the fact that she spends her whole day babying bad high schoolers at Dwyer High School. She uses high school rules such as no cell phones and a very specific way that she wants OUR binders and notes. She is very inconsiderate and makes it very hard to pass.
Passed her class but i may warn you she is a no nonsense teacher. She was one of the rudest teacher in the world. She doesnt tell you what will be on test. However, her teaching was very thorough. Hated her and her harsh grading and I actually enjoy math and i think 5 people in my class passed out of 30. Wouldnt take her if youre struggling in math
If you want to go back to middle school with notebook checks, where taking notes is mandatory and spacing your desks out and covering your answers for tests and getting points taken off from your test when you use your phone in class, shes perfect for you. She teaches fine, she's a high strung person, very loud and she tries to be funny,
She has low tolerance for behavior. She'll take points off your tests if you use your phone in class, she told my class we couldnt have bathroom breaks, she does binder checks, makes you sit spaced out from everyone, if you come late she'll lock the door and not let you in. Tests/lectures were pretty straight forward and relatively easy though.
Nightmare. Told me day one that I would never make it through the class because I was a single mom and worked fulltime. I chose to keep trying. She went too fast and always made mistakes and agrued if you tried to correct her POLITELY and NECESSARILY. She works fulltime at Dwyer so when she gets to this class, she OUT of gas/
She is a mediocre professor, not the worse and not the best! Her teaching style makes you wonder if you are at college or still in high school. She is very disorganized and makes mistakes but if you are smart you wont correct her, she hates that lol. Her tests are ok but the amount of homework is ridiculous. Look elsewhere for a better teacher.
Currently in this class and it is by far the hardest class I have ever been in. When you start a new section you literally get 3 or 4 practice problems before she moves on to the next section. Usually covers 3 sections/class. I would not recommend this professor to anyone who has struggled with math.
She goes over everything so fast
Not a good teacher, she puts the fear of math in anybody's mind. She does not encourage you to take her class and keeps saying that you should quit if you don't get it. My last professor invited and encouraged his studentson to try and pass. Mrs. Steele encouraged me to drop and to doubt myself about passing her class.
really good teacher.
Professor Steele is a fantastic teacher. I would take her again in a heart beat. I was struggling a lot in math but she helped me understand everything. She explained things so well! She is always making sure the whole class is understanding what she is teaching. I highly recommend her.
Steele took over this course after spring break due to Jacobsons maternity leave & with all the negative reviews our class made up our minds about her BUT after my first class with her I am very impressed. She learned everyones name by the end of the first class & is very focused on making sure everyone understands. Participate & you will pass
She is to fast and expects you to know the material. She teaches as if we should already know the content. If you have any severe emergencies, she will not allow you to make up any homework or test. So, if you want to fail, this is the class to take. So, good luck!! I appreciate this site for allowing us to share our experience.
If you are not good in math or have not taken math for a while this is NOT the professor for you. She teaches extremely fast sometime so fast that she does not take questions. She is not use to teaching online so test days are very unorganized and chaotic during the test taking. Tests are 85% of the grade. She does not answer emails back.
She is a mediocre teacher. What got me was the way she treats her students. She would constantly talk down to us like we were children and was overall just kind of rude. Please find another math teacher
I'm A Student at Dwyer High School She Is the Alg 1 Worst Teacher you could ever Ask for She Hates Being talked over and One Time In My Math Class She Called A Student Stupid. And Honestly I want her fired She Put me In Liberal arts For No reason She Talks To fast She has A Big Issue With Everything Please Find A NEW TEACHER IMMEADITLY!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure what to say other than the fact that she has caused multiple breakdowns and made me feel incredibly ignorant and incapable. I had trouble understanding the class and asked multiple times for help in person which she brushed off and a few emails that she left unanswered. She also talks down to you & has very little respect for her students
very strict about attendance and having your camera on
