easy, especially if you are in band or have been before. Ms. Vinson is very nice and she tries to help you (scaling, etc.) Highly recommended.
She is very weird and speaks incredibly fast and is hard to follow. If you struggle in music then please dont take her because she is very confusing.
good if you're reall interested in music (not necessarily music major). doesn't appreciate slackers, but if you're a real student you'll do great in her class
Easy if you go to class.
Boring class and if you don't enjoy music and cannot memorize lots of useless facts for each test then you'll probably get a "B"
B-O-R-I-N-G! She'll put you to sleep.
She is kinda spastic. But vey nice and helpful.
Talks very fast and hardly ever finishes a thought, but you do not have to study much for a "B". Boring classes though.
Not real hard, but not easy. Check around and see who else teaches it. If everyone seems hard then you'll be ok in her class. Not fun though by any means. Boring Boring and no sleep in her class.
SO NICE! But, VERY scatter brained. When she talks she switches b/t subjects VERY quickly. If you read the book though your grades will reflect. Not a teacher you want to take if you know NOTHING about music (like me). Does not explain very well.
dont take this the wrong way, but her class is way too hard. its her class and she can make it how she wants it, but if your gonna take a bonehead class, make sure you get a bonehead teacher, she expects way too much from an unimportant class
What other class can you go to where you can sit and listen to beautiful music? The class was easy and interesting. Core classes don't get much better than this.
She was very boring but the class was alright. I liked just sitting there and not really doing much besides listening to the music. I read everything in the book and studied hard for all of the tests and still only made a B.

She will definitey NOT make you appreciate music. She rambles a lot, and shes really boring...get used to hearing the word YEAH alot. Her tests are not hard if you study just a little, so take her class if you must, otherwise try someone else.
Boring!!!! Rambles alot about her musical concert experiences, plays lots of classical music. Don't take her unless you take music seriously (only if you want to be a conductor)!!
wierd lady, nice, but wierd. musi2730 should be easier with another teacher. 5 mult choice tests, 2 concert reports
if you haven't been in the band for at least a couple of yeaRs then do NOT take this class
any music class you take is going to be boring but she made it very easy. she doesnt count off for attendence just "recommends" it. test came directly from the practice tests. nice teacher.
She does not require attendance; 5 tests + 2 concerts; Final is not Cum. Tests are not hard, but NOT easy either! I would think the class would be easier with another teacher, but if you are okay with a B, she's good.
I HATE HER. She seems nice and says she will make test easier but always manages to make them harder or trickier. First day of class she ask who has never taken a music class before and said that this class would be for us. Well i hate music more now.
terrible. hard, i hate her. she wont like you if you arent in the band. terrible.
She doesn't really teach--just rambles. If you read the chapters and take the online practice quizzes you will do fine.
Easy teacher. Likes what she teaches. Enjoys her job. Take the class...easy A
not the best but not the worst
The tests do NOT make sense! On the tests, alot of the questions had 2 possible corect answers on the multiple quiz. Very frustrating because I DID study. I should have gotten an "A".
Hard, students do poorly and she gets embarssed by it, if you ask her for help she just apologizes but cant offer any, keeps saying tests will get easier, but they never do
I like her personality, but the last test I took I could have sworn that I got an A and I made an 80. I have no clue where I missed those other points... her tests are sometimes tricky, in other words.
I was excitied about this class but was frustrated when the test questions were very broad and had 2 possible answers. I was very dissapointed in her class.
the test are very broad and she doesn't help in class. she expects you to know everything about music
Good teacher, though tests are a little tricky. Study "Key Points" of chapter and your notes, and you should do fine. Going to class helps a lot, too, and she will sometimes tell you some of what will be on the test if a lot of people are absent to reward you for coming to class. Gives extra credit.
She is extremely enthusiastic about the music...she feels it...A great comedy show. but she is hard : /
class is easy if you go to class. she gives study guides for tests most of the time. if you fill them our the tests are so easy. concert reviews are easier than most of the other music classes. will work with you if you need help or are making up tests
she's a very easy class if you go. she loves music and is very interested in teaching. her study guides tell you exactlly what's on the test and the tests are straight from the notes. i think she's the easiest of all the music teachers.
This class was so easy!! Some people didn't do good because they didn't take it seriously. It is a music history class, so you have to go to class and pay attention! Also, study the key points before each chapter for about 30 minutes the night before the test, and you'll pull off an A! Nice lady!
Mrs. Vinson was incrediably nice. She always gave us bonus ponits on the tests. Just go to class and read the key points. If you have good attendence she will bump you up a letter grade. TAKE HER!
She's a great teacher, and tries to make history of music very interesting. She's so nice, and really hates to have people do poorly on her tests and sometimes gives study guides. Key to an A: STUDY THE MATERIAL and take good notes in class. Treat it as a regular class even though its an elective.
class is pretty easy if you study, and the teacher is kindof a spaz but its all good
Great Professor! Knows material very well. She tries to make this class as fun as possible. Her test are not hard but could be a little tricky. I am pulling a B out of this class. Hint:Study the key points at the beginning of each chapter and understand them and you will do fine on each test. Good Luck!
terrible teacher. her lectures are totally speratic and impossible to follow. she tells the class certain things wont be on the tests, then puts those things on the test anyway. she's not mean, she's just a ditz.
Her class is so hard. I attended class everyday and barely pulled out with a C. You have no idea what will be on the test and her notes are all over the place. She is impossible to follow. Nice lady but.....I would stay out of her classes.
People who can't spell don't need to call other people ditz and spaz. She's a nice lady.
she is a very nice lady! but her class wasn't that clear at all. The notes were not very organized during class. She is nice tho! But i recommend taking King or some1 else
don't bother taking notes because they're so unorganized. just look over the chapters and any review sheet she gives you before the tests. it's tough to tell what will be on the tests because she's all over the place during her lectures. go to class though because she takes attendance.
Wow, I didn't do anything in this class and got a B... hard to believe people had trouble getting a C. Overall the notes are a little sketchy but if you study and do what you are supposed to do, you'll be fine.
Its almost creepy how much she enjoys music. She kinda freaks me out while she teaches. very weird but not very hard. If you get stuck with it dont drop.
She makes what should be an easy class hard. Test are hard just study the terms and key points very good before the test. She is weird and makes what could maybe be an interesting class boring!
She is an awesome professor. You'll have no trouble getting an A as long as you come to class. Her tests are easy, just study the main points in each chapter. She knows what she is talking about and explains things very well. As I said earlier, pay attention and come to class, you'll get an A.
The class is not really hard, but the professor does not really help at all. She has confused me more than helped me. As long as you take the notes she puts on the board you'll be fine though.
I LOVE the teaher...study very hard but still make B's. She's such a fun professor but tests are difficult.
Just count to amount of times she says 'yeah' in a lecture, and you'll understand why I can't stand her teaching style. Her tests are difficult for what should be a 'gimme' class. Try getting another professor. There are many easier ones.
Very nice! Not bad at all if you know nothing about music but you have to study. Lectures come straight from the book and she usually gives a study guide of terms to know about...
Took this class as a grade boost. Not as easy as it seems. She is kind of odd. Tests are sketchy. The study guide doesnt really help.
She was really nice, and always can tell that she LOVES music. she gets off track a lot but who doesn't get off track talking about history of music?
Do not take her! She makes music a lot harder than it should be and after taking 5 of her tests, I still have no idea where she gets the material from. I tried reading the book, studying the notes, using the study guides and never could make an A. Definitely, stay away from her if you can!!
Makes music a lot harder than it should be. Nice lady, though. I would recommend taking someone else because most of the other music teachers are easier.
Very nice lady. The tests were harder than I expected them to be, but nothing you couldn't conquer by studying the night before. It helps to have music background for first test, but not required.
This class is more difficult than most people expect. Still, if you study and go to class, it is very easy. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going often. Mrs. Vinson is very helpful, just make sure to follow the study guides and you should do well. The listening portion of the tests are hard though.
Never went to class and I got an easy B. The exam was the easiest test of the semester. There are 2 concert reports and they arnt hard.
If you have a good music background you'll be ok. I studied a little bit and got an A. Mrs. Vinson is a little spacey, and it really annoyed me that she continuously referred to our "lack of understanding," and she just assumed that nobody in the class enjoyed music as much as she. If you can put up with her attitude, go for it.
Great professor, just don't take it at 8 am in the morning...Use the study sheets for each exam and you will do fine!!!!

She is nice and all but way too scatterbrained and way too difficult for what should be an easy course. I have heard some other professors are much MUCH easier. Dont take her if you can get out of it. To get above a C in her class you have to study a LOT more than you would think.
This lady is just bad. I would come in for my 8 o'clock. She would speed through her powerpoint notes, and when asked to slow down she said it was all in the book. Well if it was all in the book why would anyone ever come to class? Also her study sheets are useless.
if you think you are taking music for an easy a, don't take her. class is very boring and tests were very difficult. you have to do two concert reports which really help your grade. i studied and ended up with a c. very hard
Worst teacher I have ever had at Auburn. First of all she is a looney and she is in her own world. She thinks all of the people in her class are music majors, her tests are hard, and class was EXTREMELY boring. Aviod this lady at all costs.
Do NOT take any music aprreciation classes until this one is made to leave the University or get on the right path.
randomly takes attendance. test are really hard, only taker her if you have some classical music background. she is alot harder than i thought she would be. kinda weird.
She seemed like a nice lady. She goes very fast through powerpoints and hardly stops if you ask. She gave study guides for her tests but they were still rather difficult. I ended up with an A but worked harder than I did in Chem 2 to get it. Definitely not one of those easy classes to just take to add some hours.
Her study guides, while somewhat helpful, do not include everything on the test (no matter how many times she says it does). Study the book thoroughly and take good notes and you'll do fine. Absolutely do NOT study only the study guide or only what's on the study guide.
I don't know why everyone else doesn't like her. She is a very nice lady. You have to study a little for the tests, but after some of the engineering classes i've had, they aren't that bad. She doesn't take attendance, but go to class and take notes. It will help a lot when you go to study for tests. I would take her again.
She was a good teacher. All I did was study notes and the study guide and I got a B. She's really not that bad very nice and helpful. If you want an A, you probably do have to study the book, but really it's not that hard of a class. Just go to class and take notes!
She is a nice teacher even if she's crazy. Instead of the online study guides take the notes she gives you in class. Easy tests but the true/false are the bad - LISTENING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. The final is just the last test so it is easy to do well and not a very intense class. She repeats everything but she does it to make you remember.
BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. i have been in music classes my entire life and make straight A's. her class is very hard! she is nice, but her you will have 15 pages worth of single spaced notes and EVERY bit of it will be on the test. the class STINKS. do NOT take her. take Bradley.
Man she really aggravated me...she didnt start giving out study guides until the third test..She makes it way harder than the class should be..maybe she is trying to make a point or something...but try to get another professor
Seriously I am a smart person and I make good grades and I have never struggled as much as this class. If you have her DROP OUT AS SOON AS YOU CAN. She rambles on about nothing in class and she tells you to study the outlines which are NOT on the test. You literally have to memorize all 15 chapters word for word to do well.
She goes off on rants :/
I've taken music theory before, real music theory not her garbage. I made an easy A in the class but she seriously doesn't know what she is talking about. She makes such sweeping claims that they are just incorrect. If you want to understand music don't take it from her. She is seriously stupid. But an easy A is an easy A.
Nice lady but bad teacher. You can tell she really loves music but the class is so hard. Tests cover lots of specific information including a listening portion.
Goes off on tangents, and very all over the place with her teaching.
She's an old bat; don't take her unless you already have a good musical background or can memorize a crap-ton of information for her exams. The studyguides she gives you for the exams are practically useless. Make sure you read the text book through-and-through or you will fail. I highly don't recommend this teacher.
I have never had to work so hard for an elective. It is by far my hardest class this semester. Her class notes are not very helpful. Don't take this class unless you have a knowledgable background and interest for music. Not an easy A. Her exams are tricky, consisting of difficult true or false questions and multiple choice.
She truly does love music, and I'm sure she is a wonderful lady outside of the classroom. For goodness sakes though, she should not be teaching this class. To me, it feels like a history class with some listening. Read the book and you should be ok, and also pay attention to the listening guide on the resource dvd. It helps on the listening section
What you put into this class is what you will get out of it. Mrs. Vinson is very interested in music and wants her class to be as well. She strives not to drone on and on about old dead guys, but shows how they are relevant in today's world. She is a wonderful teacher and is clear about what she is going to test on. Going to class is fun with her!
This lady us silly but very passionate about what she teaches, you just have to get past her quirkiness. She's very nice and give little pop quizzes that are for extra credit. You have to basically try to fail in her class. Take notes.
AVOID. She is the worse teacher I have had at Auburn. I had to work my tale off just to keep a low B. I read the entire part of the book for the test, took notes in class, took notes on my reading in the book, read the outlines, did online quizes and study guides. All for a C test average. If you don't have a ton of music background, STAY AWAY!!
She is not the brightest tool in the shed. One day, she told us "we know they played instruments in the middle ages because of cave paintings and stuff." She doesn't like to think. There is no analysis in the class. Study at least 6 hours per test and attend most of the time and you should be alright. Grades concert reports really easy.
I hated this class. If you think you are going to receive an easy "A" take Appreciation of Architecture or FIND ANOTHER TEACHER. She is very passionate about her music but I felt she could care less about your grade. Good luck and War Eagle.
All you have to do is go to class and listen, read the chapters about three times before the test, and study what she tells you about the music. Also, do the concert reports as early as you can. They SUPER boost your grade and can flatten your grade if not done.
Mrs. Vinson is not a good teacher at all. Her class is so difficult. I thought music appreciation would be a fun, easy class, but it wasn't at all. I dreaded going. She refused to help me out at all. She tells you if you come to class and pay attention to the lectures, you'll do well on the exams, but that was not the case.
Good teacher. Very crazy and goes on random tangents. But the class isn't cumulative which is ++++++!
Mrs. Vinson is very passionate about her work. She and her husband have taught the course for a very long time, but it's still somewhat difficult to absorb the information she wants. The biggest fault is her tricky wording on questions. Managed an A, but much more challenging than predicted. The biggest plus? only 2 concert reports vs 5.
Although you can tell that she is passionate about the subject, Vinson is ineffective at relaying her knowledge to her students effectively. I found the class to be entirely too difficult for an introductory course; even after putting in a serious amount of work, I ended up with a B. Try to get a different teacher if you can.
Professor Vinson is a very sweet woman! I would attend lecture and study a little before the test and be fine. If I weren't so lazy her class would have been an easy A, but i pulled out of there with a B. I recommend taking her!
Go to class just for the hints about what is going to be on the test. Read the hell out of the book, she will pull random information from it for test questions. She's not very bright and ends every sentence with "or whatever". I put more effort in than I expected to get an A, but not much overall. Only 2 concert reports.
The class wasnt too hard, i went to class even though it wasnt mandatory, but i really learned nothing by going. she gave out study guides before tests and thats all looked over really. that and just read through the chapter once before each test.
Good teacher, gives out study guides, only two concert reports
I loved this class. She was very easy and helpful. She adjusted my grade that was boarder line to an A. She hands out study guides and gives extra credit quizzes.
