Yes, there are a lot of things to do for this class and you have to work hard for it. I think that is how you learn. Her exams were unclear at the beginning but I think she made her way throughout and were clearer towards the end. We all had struggles during COVID19, and I want to give credit for her hard work. She wanted us to learn :) Very caring

She asks the most minute and insignificant questions on tests making her tests very difficult. Her lectures are very boring because of her monotone voice, she does not care to make her lectures or learning enjoyable. Her passive aggressiveness is the only thing worth grading an A. Shes a harsh grader and she doesnt care whether or not you pass.

This professor is the worst professor i have ever seen in my life. She will teach you but you would need a lot of knowledge to get her lectures even before she teaches you. You have to do a reserch paper for this class where she wants you to write like a phd student but she wont teach you about the specific topic.

Tests are crazy. True and false, multiple choice, shell give fill in the like 2 fill in the blanks that are have 20 blanks each and an essay question with like and hour to do it. Maybe an hour and 20. She gives Ted Eds with questions that arent even about the video. Cant reach her through email even tho its an online class. Stay away

She is very kind and knowledgable about biotech and has furthered my passion for the subject. Tests will be based on the textbook, powerpoints, and sometimes on Ted Eds. Yes, there are a lot of Ted Eds. Do them slowly, take notes, you will get full credit. If you put in the time, this class is an easy A. If you don't like to study, don't bother.

DON'T FALL INTO THIS TRAP! The exams and quizzes are in person. It's very difficult. She makes the questions. Think again if you think you'll pass this class. My class had 20 students now 7 counting me cuz they withdraw from the class. We don't even use the $90 we paid for the labs and Homework! This was Asynchronous Class! HW is harder!

This is coming from somebody in honors and I recommend not taking her class. This was my final semester and all she did was make it hard for the complete class. Most of the students in the class failed or dropped the class due to her criteria. She's test heavy and only the tests matter, tests are 45% of your grade, and the final is 20%.

Prof. Van Loon is a very knowledgable professor and a caring and amazing person. I took her for BTE201 online last semester, and BIO240 genetics this semester. Both classes require dedication, but the lectures give you everything you need to know for the exam (do not miss any lectures!). Labs could be confusing but overall a great experience.
