Very good Prof. She was very clear in her lectures and encouraged discussion within classes. Leaves hints for tests and explains clearly expectations for papers.
I real enjoyed Nanita's class, she makes Canada's government seem almost interesting, which is hard to do!! I'm glad that Hermann decided to leave, because Nanita does a much better job at teaching this class (From what I've heard anyways)
Outstanding prof. Goes out of her way for students and is extremely helpful. Easy to get good mark and enjoyable
Awesome class. Fun. Entertaining. Easy. Just go to class and listen!!
very clear in class and helpful. Total fox as well!
Great teacher, wants students to do well and is very helpful usually does not test students on anything she didn't tell you to study. Very helpful with the essay if you email her .Made politics as interesting as it could be. Really good teacher.
Anita is amazing!!! She makes class enjoyable and she's hot!!... not much else to say
totally hot..100% beautiful
I loved Prof. Mohan. She was so funny and made everything crystal clear. She really encouraged class discussion and tried to make every class really fun and interesting!
She's great, it was an online class but she was very present, always checking the website to see if someone had posted a question. And she's big on giving hints for the exam, and admits to being an easy marker. Great for a summer class
Indian Prof- easy to get extensions for.
LOVED HER. so far, my fave prof. so easy to contact and approach, nice and helpful too. I hate polisci but did really well in her class. Didnt use textbook too much but wasnt an expensive book either. Tries to make classes fun, encourages discussions and questions
Nice lady.
SUPER COOL
Great Prof! I am in her distance ed class and she is always check and keeping up to date. Qucik with getting marks back, and always willing to help. I am definfitly taking her classes again!!
So far, one of my favourite professors. Very nice and easy to approach. I hate Political Science but her class was quite interesting and I did really well in her class. She tries to make classes fun, encourages discussions, and questions.
She is the best teacher i have had so far. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She rewards people for going to class buy giving the occasional hint. She's also really quick to reply to student emails. Great teacher for a first year student.
It seemed like she was always thinking about the students. Attendance wasn't mandatory but she would give out lots of info in class for exams that weren't in the text book or the online notes
For a class of 600, Nanita did a great job. She obviously cares about her students, isn't afraid to relate things to personal experience, is clear, easy to listen to, and is a fair prof. I'd take her classes again, for sure.
best prof ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has a passion for politics and clearly shows that in her lectures. Very good teacher, Clear and precise. All my other teachers read off the ppt or mumble and say UM! alot. She does not do that at all. Relates the class to experiences and situations. VERY WONDERFUL TEACHER!
Great teacher - for being in her night class, I can truly say that it's not boring and won't make you fall asleep! One of my favourites! :)
Don not need to come to class exams are all about the lecture notes (posted online) and chapter readings from textbook. Simple. Kinda funny but after the hour n half break in night class she gets boring. Still a intelligent prof, willing to help. Showed alot of video clips/movies that were relevant but boring
Very friendly professor, if you want to enjoy a politics class take one with her. Helpful and always willing to answer student's questions.
LOVE HER!!! she actually cares. so clear and concise
One of my favourite professors. She genuinely cares and I have great respect for her.
Despite being a relatively boring subject, she makes it as interesting as possible. Clear slide, don't need to attend lectures to get curriculum (all put on courselink), extremely friendly and promotes class discussion. Very easy class to get a high mark in. Recommend!!!!
she makes the most boring subject interesting. she is so helpful, so clear it what she wants/what you need to know! amazing professor and such a genuinely caring person as well! part marks come from online tutorials, which are super easy if you actually try in them!
She's awesome. Very easy to understand, promotes debating in class and tries to get the class involved (despite the large number of students). Extremely helpful and understanding. She uses personal stories to lighten up the class, and I found I was usually able to stay interested despite the 3 hour night class. Very easy to get a good mark.
Great prof with a great personality! Her course is interesting and she really cares what she is teaching about. She loves class involvement which is a great way to pass a three hour night class. Although, don't buy her textbook it is a waste of money!
Awesome prof, I never was into politics until now. She actually makes it interesting unlike other profs.
More Profs should be like this! Super clear lectures, she was funny and she didn't make course work unfair! I genuinely loved this class cause of her and learned a lot!
Mohan is an awesome prof! She always had the class engaged, and learning in a fun environment. Great slides, interesting paper topics and fair midterm and final.
okay great prof, really interesting, her exams are fair, do read the textbook, don't focus on the textbook but you should atleast read it, it will save your ass on the exams and final. Essays are marked a bit hard, so make sure to get it editted by her in advanced. GO TO CLASS<, she puts stuff on the finals from the lectures, so write everything
Because it was an online course, there's not a whole lot to judge her on based on her lectures but her instructions were pretty unclear sometimes throughout the semester but she definitely knows what she is talking about and is always willing to help when struggling.
awesome prof, votes ndp which is cool
She doesn't do all the marking so that honestly depends on the TA for the term... but I took this course first term and continued to take another POLS course the next term solely because she taught it!
She is an amazing professor. She is really nice, you can tell she genuinely cares about her students, and she makes the material interesting by encouraging class participation. I would definitely take a class with her again given the chance.
class was a 3 hr night lecture but she made it go by really fast, was super engaging and made the class interesting! not a ton of readings from the textbook, probably don't need it to pass the class.
Prof. Mohan is easily my favourite at Guelph. I've had her for three credits now, the most recent being online, and she is very helpful. She wants her students to get good marks. She's caring and knowledgeable, and does her best to help students succeed. She is also the reason I become more interested in and passionate about politics.
Professor Mohan was one of my favourite in first year. She is pretty easy-going and funny, but also focused on the lectures. Assignments were awesome (loved the discussions). 10/10 would take a class of hers again and again.
Although the content of this course is extremely dry, it is easy to get a good mark. Online discussions once a week and a (very simple open-book) test every month or so. Be sure to take advantage of the blog assignment for an extra 5%. She's a bit of a tough grader on the essay, but still did well.
A very engaging professor. She likes to start class discussions, even in a lecture of 500 people, which can get kind of annoying at times since they drag on for a very long time. Weekly discussions are a great advantage to build a good mark. Didn't use the textbook often, but I'd suggest buying one anyway.
Pretty easy if you put in effort. All of the grading is done by TAs for 4 blog posts, which require a response to another student. Exams seemed pretty easy. I was not a very big fan of her lectures, but I still went to every class. She made a few careless mistakes and a lot of time was used for discussion that didn't benefit everyone...
Mohan was a great politics prof. Politics can be made dry and repetitive, but Mohan made it engaging and interesting. Discussion posts, 2 midterms and a final that are all fair. She makes a there hour lecture insightful! Discussions in class were regular. Recommend in class.
Very very good prof! I had her for the DE POLS 1400 and POLS 2300. Almost identical courses in everyway. very easy to get a great mark in, very helpful professor.
Mohan is a great prof! Very kind and approachable. She makes lecture very interesting by relating it back to real world issues. Exams are fairly easy but you have to show up to class in order to succeed! Also very funny!
Nanita is an absolute gem, her class is so enjoyable as she explores every topic in the perfect amount of detail while still keeping politics light and enjoyable which I think is a very difficult thing to do for such a boring class. She keeps the topics interesting and is SO fair when creating midterms and blog posts.
Her lectures can get a bit boring especially when she's opening up discussion to other students, easy class though, not too hard to get a good grade.
Prof Mohan is so sweet. She genuinely cares for her students and wants them to do well. She does her best to engage students and to make politics interesting. Although night lectures were long, she made them bearable. Her tests are very fair.
A great prof. She is very intelligent and passionate on her topic. She doesn't read from the lecture slides and she genuinely 'teaches'. I really enjoy her lectures and I enjoy learning about the topics she discusses.
Professor Mohan was great! She's caring and really "teaches" her course, doesn't just lecture at us. I really enjoyed the class and found it interesting, as well as liked how she incorporated many perspectives into her considerations of issues. Great prof! You need to attend the lectures, but they're great so it's no struggle.
She's a good professor, but a hard marker. If you miss one of her lectures, you won't get a good grade as her lectures are very heavy. Overall, she's okay
Great prof. No readings but that means you have to go to class. Could be boring b/c of 7-10pm time but usually ends early. Went off topic sometimes. Didn't make us write an essay. Gave us good hints for exam and midterms. Talked about politics in an unbiased way.
Really enjoyed her class. The content could be a little dry at times, but she would make it engaging and bearable because of her lecturing style/personality. I also found that she was a very fair grader. If you do the readings and try to take good notes, you'll do fine.
Professor Mohan is one of the best profs to transition from high school to your first year of university. She made a three-hour lecture in WMEM bearable and always had funny comments to break up heavy content. The lectures were pretty heavy with content considering they were three hours long, but Professor Mohan was great at making them go by quick
Prof. Mohan is an excellent professor, and I would recommend taking any classes that she offers. My experiences in two of her classes have been nothing short of amazing. Probably one of the fairest graders I have had, and also makes her explanations of content, assignments, or expectations crystal clear. If you study and work hard, you'll excel.
Mohan is a fun lecturer and it is full of in-class participation that is open to debate. The course has many different graded aspects and the final is not weighted to heavy. Mohan made politics interesting and engaging.
In order to excel in this course, attending the lectures are a major part in doing so. The professor does a great job at making a three hour lecture intriguing and successfully engages students in healthy debate. The professor is amazing at presenting different perspectives on topics to enhance understanding. Quite the enjoyable course to take.
I really liked Prof. Mohan. I had her for both POLS 1150 and POLS 1400. She is extremely intelligent, and knows her stuff. The assignments were interesting, as were the lectures. Definitely take one of her classes if you can!
Had her for POLS 1400 and 1150. Truly an amazing prof. Lecture heavy so make sure to show up and take notes. Makes the content very interesting and understandable. Assignments and evaluations were also very fair in terms of expectations and grading. Definitely will take again. Cares about the success of her students.
Such a nice prof and person. Very easy to access for extra help and feedback especially for an online class. Prof Mohan is one of my fav professors ever.
Had Mohan for POLS1400, pretty easy class if you have a basic understanding of politics. She has straightforward and easy assignments. Good speaker in lectures.
Professor Mohan is very much what you want a prof to be. She puts in a lot of effort and time for her students, and in doing so ensures her students are capable to succeed efficiently and effectively. Her lectures are very engaging and clear, and she is very willing to answer questions both during class as well as after.
Professor Mohan was one of the first profs I've ever had and she was great. Sets you up to do really well in the class and made a 3 hour class interesting. I would 100% take another class of hers!
Nanita was an awesome professor. She really knows what she is talking about and it is obvious she is really passionate about the topic. The subject material was very dry but she definitely made it more interesting. Her tests are fair, and she always answers her emails within 24 hours.
Excellent prof. Clear grading criteria and makes her expectations clear from the get go. As long as you put a respectable amount of effort into the course you will succeed. Prof. Mohan is always available for extra help or questions via email, and explains everything clearly and concisely - I hope to have more professors like her in the future.
Great prof, very passionate and engaging. Attendance is mandatory for seminars.
if she doesn't like you, its clear. she does anything to grade you harder and not give you equal opportunities
She's an amazing prof. Had her at Guelph-Humber and she is very passionate about the topics she introduces. We did debates and those were a lot of fun, even though people were nervous while presenting. I would definitely recommend her to any first year or anyone!!
Mohan is the best prof I've ever had. She makes the material easy to understand and is a fair marker!
Prof Mohan is caring and her lectures can get boring sometimes but she genuinely is a nice person and will help you as much as needed. Her office hours are very helpful and it gives a chance for you to ask questions in smaller groups. Participation in tutorial groups is also needed for your mark to raise.
She does an amazing job at keeping the lectures engaging. Grading was lenient as it was the pilot offering of the summer course. But really overall great prof who kept things interesting and often encouraged discussion during/after lectures (I liked this but it's not for everyone). would absolutely take the course again
this class had a mandatory txtbk which I never used & still got a good mark, there was a lecture one day with the prof that wasn't mandatory and a seminar with the TA that was mandatory. course was pre light, not a lot of reading. i rlly loved the prof she was so nice and funny and u could ask her anything
Assignments are kinda pointless , but other than that shes a great prof!
Take POLS1150 if you need a credit. I know nothing about politics but I was able to pass quite easily. Marking is very easy and there isn't much work. The only annoying part is the mandatory seminar every week but aside from that, great class. Had very little interaction with Mohan but she seemed nice. WOuld 100% take again.
I have had Prof Mohan for three classes so far and I have loved all of them! She gives great lectures, is very kind in office hours, and puts the needs of students first. Be prepared to write quite a bit but the grading is straight forward and if you follow criteria you will do well. Also exam essay prompts are given ahead of time!!
She's really great with being enthusiastic with her teaching and being there for the students and making sure we understand.
She is an inspirational professor, I love her a lot and she really cares about students. As long as you go to class and participate she will be fair and you will get as good mark as long as you put the work in.
shes is the absolute sweetest prof ever. 100% my favourite ever.
Great prof, doesn't unload a ton of work at once but gives just enough to keep a routine
She really wants her students to succeed as she makes powerpoints for the more difficult and heavy chapters. The discussion posts are not very bad and she does not mark all of them which is beneficial, it is easy to get good marks on them if you read the content. She is very fair and wants her students to do well on the exam.
Professor Mohan is awesome. I've taken 2 of her classes and am never disappointed. Easy A for sure.
Dr Mohan was great this semester. I took her intro to politics class and she was more than accommodating towards students. She breaks up assignments so it isnt too heavy and all at once because she understands how stressful the transition to uni is. She is very approachable and wants to see her students succeed. I recommend everyone take the class
POLS1150 was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. The assignments, discussion posts and seminars are all easy to get 100% on if you put some effort into them. The m/c portion of the exam was not cumulative but the long answer was, Professor Mohan provides the questions in advance making it easy to prepare.
Dr Mohan was very accommodating and more than fair with her marking throughout the semester. I personally found the quizzes hard but the final exam was very easy and it was very easy to do well with the paper and discussions. Content itself was boring and long readings but not at the fault of the prof.
Very engaging lectures and she's super approachable. I've had two classes with her and for both, she made the final exam mostly based on the last few units so it goes without saying that helps a lot in the study process.
Truly an amazing professor! her lectures are actually worth attending, she doesn't just read directly off the PowerPoint slides. she gives useful information that always pops back up during tests and assignments. she is well-spoken and understanding. 100% would take a class from her again.
Make sure to go to seminars as 20% of your grade is seminar participation. Interesting lectures and engages students in class. Important and relevant topics are discussed. Overall a very good class and prof.
Mohan's lectures were so clear and interesting. The workload wasn't too heavy (discussion posts, quizzes, papers) - the papers were great for an intro class because you basically write one paper in 4 different steps, so useful for writing in other classes. Covers a lot of basic pols topics really clearly. Made me sure I was in the right major.
Amazing person and professor. Her lectures are interesting but you do have to go to them. Her assignment criteria are clear and an easy good mark. Tests are easy and open book, as long as you take notes during class.
Best prof i've had in my entire time at uofg. So caring and very helpful in terms of accommodations. gives an extremely engaging lecture. skip lectures? you will fail the course, but they are actually worthwhile to go to. a week consists of lecture, an hour ish in videos, an activity, and a discussion post, quiz, or component of final paper due.
I've had Mohan for 3 classes now and she's arguably one of the best POLS profs here, especially with DE classes as she uploads voice overs for the more difficult units. Quizzes and discussions are easy as long as you do the readings and if you follow the rubrics for the assignments you'll do well. Only downside was the content was a bit boring
Awesome prof. kept lectures interesting
Mohan is a great professor and replies to students very fast. The discussions were graded very easily, the quizzes were straightforward, and we received good feedback for the term paper. There were clear instructions for the final exam. Overall, was a great course, but the readings are very long.
MOHAN IS MY QUEEEEEEN. She has such a good balance of knowing her stuff and sharing with the class but she makes it exciting and fun. I respect her and her intelligence a lot and is the only class I am excited to attend lectures for. If you have the opportunity to take a class with her TAKE IT. She is my favorite prof evaaaa.
Only take this class if you are heavily interested in Politics, as someone who took this as an elective I wouldn't recommend it. My TA was an extremely hard grader, and seminar participation lowered my mark. the prof was good and had engaging lectures however you must be passionate about politics to do well in this class.
overall OK
An amazing prof. Quick responses, stimulating lectures, easy going.
If you need a sign to take her class, here it is!!!!! Prof. Mohan is amazing. She cares about you and your success and makes an effort to explain concepts that can be trickier to understand in lecture. She is hilarious too and makes lectures so enjoyable. Love Prof. Mohan! Take her class!
Professor Mohan is amazing!! She's a great speaker, keeps the content interesting and is very charismatic. It's important to go to her lectures, as her slides are simple and she mostly presents the information herself. The courselink was also organized, which is always a win. I highly recommend her and her class!!
One of the best profs at UofG. This is my second class with her and she is truly amazing. Cares for her students. Instructions for assignments were clear. Content was dry at times, but it was manageable. Assignments were relatively enjoyable to complete. I would love to take an in-person class with her.
Legit the best professor Ive ever had. Thats all i gotta say
Mohan is a great prof, interesting lectures, lots of opportunities for marks, and if you try you're gonna get a really good mark. Participation is required in seminars and TAs are actually knowledgable and run a good seminar. Overall interesting course, would recommend to any major
I really enjoyed my time in Mohan's lectures. She is extremely knowledgeable in what she teaches and is passionate about it which inspires interest and participation in the class. My only issue with this class is my TA. It is unfortunate when a TA ruins an otherwise great class. Nevertheless, I would still take the course again!
Professor Mohan is an excellent political science instructor, highly recommended for newcomers. Engaging class topics, responsive TAs. Note: Participation is graded in seminars, but there are alternative ways to earn marks (ie: quizzes, research paper). Highly recommended!
Prof. Nanita Mohan, is a great professor who is caring and kind. Her class is content heavy in terms of reading however you are able to get a good grade without reading any of the readings as long as you keep up with the lectures and slideshows. Seminar attendance are worth a lot in this class but the work is fairly easy and marked fairly!
lectures are important to go to, textbook is not needed. seminar participation is really easy to get a good grade in.
Prof. Mohan seems to be deeply passionate about the material she talks about; however, one thing I found with her is that she would only help or meet with students occasionally (office hours would be random) and would get us to speak with our TAs more than her. The course was overall easy; no midterm and the final exam seems pretty straightforward
This course was so wonderful that I changed my degree into political science. The lectures were clearly laid out, concise but doesn't go too fast. Prof. Mohan allows for a lot of participation within the lectures and there's space to form opinions and have civil disagreements of said opinions. Overall wonderful class.
Incredible professor, explains everything super well, and seminars are fun if you are into debates/political discussions. Work criteria is very clear and quizzes/tests are set up for you to succeed giving you 2 attempts on all tests to get the best grade possible.
For you to do well in Professor Mohan's class it is important to participate in your seminars and to attend lectures as test material is based primarily on her lectures.
Super nice prof! She was great at making you fully understand politics and the concepts around it! There is a textbook but it isn't really mandatory
Great professor, presented clearly and un-confusingly and was very knowledgeable about her area of expertise. Seminars were good too and I felt grading was very fair. I never once read the textbook or watched any videos but it probably would've been a good idea to at least skim. Not totally necessary though.
Super nice prof and great lectures
I really like prof mohan!! She honestly cares about her students which is really refreshing. I like attending her lectures a lot and she's a fair marker.
She is a pretty good lecturer. The seminars were annoying to go to. My seminar has literally 10 people in it so I found it super awkward. The content isn't difficult to understand. There was a lot of resources on courselink that was integrated into the class to help you study and stay caught up in content. Solid class.
Very nice, kind of boring but engaged with the class. Easy, straightforward assignments and seminars were fun with a good TA. Made politics a fun thing to learn about.
