Its hard to understand what he says when he talks, pretty strong accent
he's hard to understand and his tests are pretty rough....
Come on its Bio 1020 its not hard anyway tests are all mult choice just go to class
He is a hard teacher but it is possible to make an A. Just memorize all of his notes!! Notes are on the internet so you do not have to go to class although that always helps!!
He is hard to understand, but was a very nice man. If you go to class and study those notes as well as the notes on the internet, you will be fine. It always helped me to read the book also on things that i felt he didn't explain very well.
very hard to understand. fair but his tests are not really like the class notes.. be sure to read the book.
I thought he was really hard. I could never figure out where he got his test material from. He curved and i ended up with a B, but he was VERY hard!!!
Awful Teacher!!! You can't understand a single word he says. The tests come out of thin air and have nothing to do with your notes or book. DROP..DROP and dont look back!!!!!!
Drop IT!!!! he is extremely hard and the questions on his test are very tricky. he keeps you late all the time and never gives bonus. So do NOT get him. plus, you can't understand him at all.
this is the worst class i have ever taken!i dropped it and have never looked back.he also has the worst accent i have ever heard!
he's very hard to understand, the class isn't that hard, just go to class and study the notes on the internetand you'll be fine
Go to class!!! if you get the notes and study then you will do fine... MC tests... kinda hard to understand him at first ... curves tests!!
my advice: fall asleep in class because you're not going to understand him or his lectures. test aren't to hard. if you study the internet notes you'll do fine but you have to study a lot. nice guy though...
He is not an easy teacher. He is very hard to understand and his notes in class can be unclear. Tests are not easy!! He has notes online that help. The final is HORRIBLE, don't even try to waste your time studying!!! Nice guy. I scraped by with a C!!!
If this guy could speak English then this class might have been worth it.
Doesnt speak very good english
He is so hard to understand, and with like a week's worth of studying you can only hope for a B. He rarely curves, and doesn't care that everyone is failing. The tests are ridiculously hard.
I liked him. If you listen to him, and sit up closer to the front.. its not hard to understand him.. i really do like him. ill be gettin a B in the class......... if you go to class, which no one does.. its easy
Very, very difficult. Nice guy. Internet note help alot, but lecture is a must. Not everything is online. Test are unbelievibly hard. Try to study some everyday just to be comforatble with the info.
really nice guy
not easy, hard to understand sometimes. bonus points a possibility, just ask. best notes on his web site. Lots of studying required, know his notes.
This teacher does not dumb down the material, so he is challenging. You actually have to learn the stuff and once you do it sticks in your head and helps with other science classes later on.
He cannot speak cohearant English. I get lost listening to him because I cannot understand what the hell he is saying. He does give you notes and practice questions, which end up verbatim on the test. He knows nobody can understand him.
difficult to understand and VERY boring. but most basic biology is boring anyway. tests and material unbelievably hard. but he is a nice guy.
His class is not easy, but if you go to class and download lecture notes & practice questions you will be fine, more than willing to help you if you need it...made an A
Difficult to understand. Puts his lecture notes on the internet, attendance is not required. Hard class!
Not a hard teacher if you enjoy science. I found his tests very easy and I was able to come out of the class with an easy A. I think i made above a 100 on the first test. You do need to attend class but he really isn't bad.
He gives a lot of notes, but they are all posted on the internet and most of the test questions are almost verbatim from them. I easily made an A in here-just don't skip the lectures (its tempting). He is a nice guy and will help you if you have problems.
nice guy, but the tests are extremely hard and he does not speak very clearly
the best bio teacher i have had. Sure i got a B for the year. But I feel like i know the stuff. He may have an accent but sometimes he can be pretty funny too. I recommend this professor!
I enjoyed his class, you have to study! bio is not easy... but he is very relaxed and easy going . he's not out to hurt you. Don't worry!
Hard to understand.
Very nice and helpful. Hard to understand sometimes. Need to go to class, but not completely necessary since the lecture notes he puts online are easier to understand than he is.Had to work a little for my A, but it's not at all impossible to get one.
Difficult to understand. Will help you if you go see him during office hours.
This class sucked. Study the notes online and you should be fine. His accent is knid of hard to understand, but he is a nice guy. I had to miss an exam and he let me make it up no problem.
Nice guy, not that hard the questions come strait from the notes. Really helps to read the book. He'll help you out a lot if you come to class.
Cannot understand him at all. Tests are from the notes though
Do not take this professor. His lectures are boring and his notes are hard to understand. He puts notes on the internet but they aren't of any use. His tests are very hard to understand. Get out of this class if at all possible!
This class is horrible, I cant understand him and his test make no sense to me. If you do get him start reading the book and going over the notes everyday or you will fall behind. Good luck!
This teacher is horrible!Get out NOW if you can! You can no understand a word he says, and his exams are extremely hard!He is so boring that I almost fall asleep in his class. He does not take attendance and going to class does not help at all.Just get the notes off the internet, but it wont help much!
nice guy. accent is difficult to understand at times. attendance is not required but i would DEFINITELY recommend it. the online notes are good, but he gives good examples in class that show up on the tests. very nice man, helpful outside of class. i have an A, but had to work a little for it.
his english is very hard to understand, and he talks very quietly. his tests are hard, and most of the class does poorly on them. he does give bonus quizes, but they are hard too. it seems like some of his test questions are trick... but no.. it is just his english
This teacher sucks! GET OUT NOW! He is a horrible teacher! He can't speak english! His notes help somewhat, but are hard to read b/c his english sucks. HIs tests are hard! He is rude! He lies to students, and gives inaccurate grades. He makes tricky questions.
He is very hard. I do not recommend taking this teacher. He is a nice man, but does not speak English well and his tests are very difficult.
Terrible class. Can not understand anything the man is saying. Test are extremly hard. I do not advise taking this course.
The class is really boring, very long and I never understood a word the guy was saying. Tests come from his notes but I recommend reading the book too since his notes are written in the same broken English that he speaks in. Tests are hard and he's not a fan of scaling grades.
Needs lessons in speaking correct English.Tests are very hard.He gives trick questions.Should have dropped class after 1st day.Exam is tomorrow and the only thing to study is the book b/c his notes are in jiberish.
All biology at AU sucks. Take it at a CC if at all possible.
I admit his accent is hard to understand, but he is a really nice guy. I have always made good grades and I came out with an A. You just have to study the notes that he gives online (don't even bother picking up the book) If you are not a good student, however, get out because his tests are deep.
Dr. Singh is really nice, and he is very willing to help. He does have that accent, so I suggest sitting in the front row. His tests are straight from the lecture notes, but you need to go to class to get the whole picture (his tests are very thorough!) Not too difficult to make and A in.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! DROP THIS CLASS!!!!! he is hard to understand. If you are like I was and say "if i study i'll do ok no matter what ratemyprofessor says" then you'll **** up. I studied those damn notes for 6 hours a day on weekends and for a couple hours a day during weekdays and still did bad.
It was a struggle to understand him. I made a B, but you have to study VERY hard. It is hard to take "good" notes in his class because you don't have enough time to strain to make out what he is saying and then write it down because he is already on another topic. He is very helpful and nice.
Dr. Singh is actually not that bad. If you sit in front of the class and pay close attention, you will have no problems taking the notes. I think people should give him more of a chance. He is a very nice guy and seems concerned about peoples grades. Make sure you study though. His test are a little in depth...but hey its biology.
I am getting an A in the class...if anything, his accent is funny, not difficult to understand. If you sit in your seat, and take down the notes, you will be straight. He leaves his lecture notes on the web, so if you chose, you can completely skip the class. Print the notes, skim the chapter, and if you have an IQ above a potato, you will pass.
I thought that he is a very nice guy who tries to help everyone out...Could be a little difficult to understand at times, but he helps you out with bonus quizzes...it takes a little time to study, but what class doesnt?
you cannot understand a word he is saying! i sat in the front of the class everyday, and still he was not clear. his tests are very hard. nothing comes from his notes in class or on the computer. take bowling... get out of his class! especially if you are a freshman!
I thought He was really nice when I went to talk to him he was helpful. He even responded to my emails. He was very hard to understand especially being a freshman his class was really hard. I would study weeks ahead of time for each test and still fail, and I like biology, its my major but this class kinda made me think about changing.
Mr Singh is a nice guy he will talk to you and help you if you ask. I didn't study that much and I am coming out with a B also he says he doesn'r curve but he does I had a C at first.
Singh is a decent guy personally.. however he can be quite dull in his lectures (monofrikintone) and it is hard to understand him because he is foreign..if your deciding on a biol teacher, try bowling or folkerts if possible
Horrible! He is very hard to understand, only reads from his lecture notes. I have never skipped a class no matter how bad the class was until this class. It is very boring and he does not help that much at all. I would definately recommend another professor!
Biology 1020 is a hard class no matter who you take. Dr. Singh is an excellent teacher and he knows his information very well. He puts ALL of his notes online. If you study these notes and generally understand the material then you will do fine (I got A's on my tests). Attend class because he will give bonus quizzes.
Sometimes a little hard to understand, but if you sit close to the front you can understand him. All his lecture notes and old tests are online. If a lot of people miss a question on a test he wont count it and give everybody 4 points. He's fair, a little boring but overall he's a good teacher
he's unbelievably boring. i skipped every class and printed the notes off his website. i made C's on every test without ever opening the book or going to class. the lab definitely helped my grade. i couldnt understand anything he said in class because he was talking about stuff so advanced i couldnt comprehend it.
I really liked him. I'll admit I got bored at times. But that can happen anywhere. I didn't think he was difficult to understand at all, even if he said things a little differently. I'd take him again. Also, the notes online are a great help as well as practice exams.
if you can't understand the man it's just because you want excuse to hate the class. his online notes are the bomb. his practice test generally make up 70% of the real test. the class is easy if you study but extremely hard if you don't. i found singh to be very helpful. class can be boring, but he's good about throughing in jokes.
It's hard to understand what he says because he's from India. Therefore, you can't get the full understanding of the lesson being taught.
You can not understand anything that he's trying to teach and it is not just an excuse.
He isn't the easiest professor to understand but after a class or to it isn't bad and the online notes are all you need to pass. You should also use the practice exams those are basically his test except he has started to switch the questions around a little to make them seem the same as the practice exam but they aren't so watch out for that.
Professor Singh is a great instructor. He posts all lecture notes and practice exams on his website. These are very beneficial during class and for exams. The prac. exams generally make up at least 25% of actual exams. At first his accent can be hard to understand, but after a few days he is fully comprehendible.
Nope :(
Dr. Singh's BIOL 1020 class was not bad at all. All the notes you need are online and attendance isn't mandatory, although helpful. Tests aren't hard & a lot of ?s come from the practice exams. The accent can be scary at first but becomes perfectly normal after a couple of classes. I would suggest Dr. Singh's class if you can get him.
Final is easy. 90% of questions are straight from old tests. SO, when he puts them up on the board after you get grades back....go copy them down and you have an automatic A on the final.
Do not take this class... unless you are naturally very good at science, this class is very frustrating and the work you put into it does not reflect your grade. Final was near impossible.. GET OUT OF THIS CLASS!!!
Singh is a good professor, but he reads directly from his powerpoints and his class is pretty much taught verbatim from his notes.. Read your notes and attend class.. The book doesnt help very much.. rely on the book for diagrams but READ YOUR NOTES.. also look at the practice and taken tests..
he might seem like a nice guy but he SUCKS as a professor! he reads straight off the powerpoint and posts the notes online, which are of no help because the tests are just ridiculously HARD, even tho they are multiple choice. i am an A student and i came out of the class with a C. DONT TAKE HIM unless you want to struggle to pass! DONT TAKE HIME !
Dr. Singh is an extremely nice guy! This is a higher level class, so be prepared to STUDY! You have to put effort into it, I mean c'mon! If you study the material you learned daily or even weekly, you'll do fine. It was helpful for me to take my own notes even though they were online. Just read the notes, and look over the practice and past tests.
Dr.Singh is a real nice guy and this class is hard no matter who your teacher is...his tests are hard even though they are all multiple choice but if you go to class and really really study alot then you should be fine!!
This is a harder class so expect to study, but as far as instructors go, he's pretty good. He gives bonus points on exams and some of the questions on the pratice tests are on the exams. He doesn't have any review days, unless he finishes his lectures early, but you'll do good as long as you study.
He class was pretty okay. But his english SUCKS. He reads straight from the notes and if you do all your assignments and go to class you might pass.
Very nice, but hard to understand. He often talks about advanced topics that are irrelevant to the 1020 course and his tests come mostly from practice tests. An A is possible, but fairly difficult. I dont really recommend his class because I didn't feel like I actually learned anything.
His class is hard, but he will help you through the material. All you have to do is ask.
He is so hard to understand. I never went to class, except for the test days and the first day and made an A. He puts the notes on blackboard and then reads them word for word during class. His english is terrible, try not to take him. If you do, teach yourself. Its all memorization. DON'T BUY THE BOOK--YOU NEVER USE IT!
He's pretty nice and knows a lot. He just doesn't have clear English and neither do his tests. Most of his tests are manageable but still very difficult. Just study to understand rather than memorize and stuff will be ok.
He is a genius! He reminds me of Yoda.
I can get over any accent, it's not that bad, but his tests are REDONKULOUS! I swear he is making exams to test his own knowledge of the field. I've never seen more specific questions. You can't just have a good general knowledge of the info and expect to do good, you have to know his tedious notes letter for letter (word for word doesn't cut it!)
He is a boring professor, but the class wasnt horrible. He puts the notes up on the net as well as practice tests. All I did was read over the notes and finish the practice tests and I got an A. He can be funny, but you cant understand him. I finally translated two of his worst pronounced words-oxygen and occur- youll see what Im sayin!Very Helpfu
People will always whine about teachers, but if you work hard it doesnt matter. This man was not an easy A but if I had to take him again i definitely would. His tests were tough but he gave MORE than enough EC to make up for it (example, bring a pedigree of widows peak trait in your family, come to class on fridays etc) subtle humor but very funny.
Singh is a nice man and tries to help you if he can. Just do the practice exams he gives you online. Most of the questions on the exams are either directly from the practice exam or are close to it. Because of this, the class wasn't too difficult. He also gives out tons of bonus points. The class itself is kind of boring though.
He is very boring, has horrible English, and reads the notes outloud that he puts online. I'm not sure how people say he's helpful because every time I went to see him, he was a butt. Sure, he knows his stuff, but he doesn't know how to teach it.
he is a very nice/funny guy. he gives out a ton of bonus and puts the notes online. no homework. the tests are close to the practice test he gives you. you can get a b barely trying
Im sitting in this guys class right now and i have no clue what he's saying. His tests most definitely do not follow his online practice exam and a lot of the information present on his exams come from the book which he never mentions. Hard to make an a in this class, 5 out of 200 something currently have an a...
He just reads off the notes in a monotone voice. Posts notes online. He has an accent and exams have tons of grammar and spelling errors. Before the final, 9 out of 180 people had an A. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives out a few random bonus points so come to class on Fridays. I basically taught myself everything in this class.
If you can help it, get out of his class while you can. You can't hear a word he is saying and no one comes to class except to check your facebook and hope that you might take some notes. He is very nice and can rock a sweater vest but not a great teacher. Very tough class. Go to class on Fridays and ask him for extra credit.
not the hardest teacher ever. he posts his notes online so you dont have to pay attention. tests are very straight forward. it is hard to understand him at times but he is very nice and wants students to do well. GO TO CLASS ON FRIDAY BC HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT A LOT OF THE TIME
All he does is read the powerpoint.
His lectures aren't incredibly boring; he gives you the notes and sticks to them pretty well. He's sort of difficult to understand at first, but you get used to it. But there's no homework, and he posts sample tests online.
The class is boring, but Dr. Singh is a cool guy. He reads straight from the powerpoints which are on blackboard so attendance isn't mandatory. It is past mid-semester and he hasn't given out one bonus point though. I would take him again.
He's a decent teacher. VERY hard to understand because of his accent. SI sessions is key to understanding the course. Prac. tests and notes posted on Bb. No extra credit... All in all, good guy.
Really hard to understand. Says things that make no sense.
This class is not as difficult as everyone is making it out to be. He gave a substantial amount of bonus points and his tests were similar to the practice tests. I crammed for every test and have a high A in the class. If you have a little bit of motivation you'll do fine in his class.
Extremely hard class. He is a very nice man, easy to get along with but not so easy to understand. Wouldn't recommend taking this class unless you are very interested in what is being taught.
I would recommend getting a peer tutor since his progression is a little odd. You learn meitosis/meiosis before the stuff about the cell so you can get lost very quickly. Pretty boring, but it's difficult for anyone to make DNA polymerase enzymes exciting. Will really work with you if you have personal issues arise.
Horrible. I had him for fall of my freshmen year and all this class did was screw up my GPA. I went to his office more than several times and he gives you nothing but too bad. Don't take him.
horrible.
hard to understand, he just reads from the lecture notes that he provides you with. his tests are "fair" but on a lot of material, avoid him if you dont like biology
I honestly learned more from SI than attending lectures. If you try it is possible to make a good grade it's just really hard.
Hard to understand
AVOID THIS CLASS. He is so hard to understand, and when you ask him for help he just tells you to find what suits you best. Gives you sample questions that are nothing like what the test will be like. So hard to understand the lecture, I gave up. Awful class.
He is not as hard as everybody is saying, you just have to find out what to study from. Don't bother going to class unless it really helps you. 3 days before a test, start studying several hours a day concentrating on only the online notes, and the practice questions he gives you. If you know that material Really Well, youll make an A.
Do not take him. While I am sure he is fine outside of class, during class it is awful. He thinks everyone has taken AP biology in high school, and therefore should know what he is talking about. He is hard to understand and not helpful. He will make you feel stupid. Find people to study with, and start studying the first day of class, seriously!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. IT IS DEATH TO THE SOUL, HEART, AND MIND. THIS CLASS IS EXTREMLEY BORING AND THE SI SESSON DON'T HELP. CHANGE YOUR SCHEDULE IMMEDIATLEY.
Dr. Singh seems like a nice guy, but he moves through the material quickly and is often unclear. His tests ask about small details, but he gives a good bit of bonus on the tests and posts his notes online. Overall difficult but manageable with a lot of work.
He isn't near as bad as everyone makes him out to be. It's pre-med Biology on the college level & it's supposed to be a little hard and require effort. He gives a TON of bonus points, drops questions on the tests that a lot of people miss, & bumps you up the next letter grade if you are close. I've been at Auburn for 2 years and this is my first A.
Basically just reads the notes off of his powerpoint and will occasionally explain a diagram from the book, but he posts his notes online and tests straight from them. He asks about the smallest details on tests, but he will drop questions that a lot of people miss, and he gave out a few bonus points. Not terrible, but not good either.
Professor Singh was very knowledgable on the subject material. He genuinely does not wish to fail anyone. As in any other class you can not simply expect to go to class and pass. Outside textbook reading and SI sessions are your best bet. Limited bonus opportunities were given for class attenance. I would take him again.
i loved Singh. He was immensely helpful in the learning process. I didn't attend every class, which may have contributed to my B. But he taught well and was logical about tests and quantity of tested material. If you have any questions, do talk to him.
He is hard to understand and is beyond boring. He's a nice guy but a terrible teacher. Literally 70% of my class was failing before we took the final exam.
Worst biology teacher at Auburn! Reads straight off of slides and is insanely boring. Tests go way more in depth than his notes. He offers hardly any extra credit. Emailed him about my grade last semester and have yet to hear back from him.
AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN. He reads straight off the powerpoints, his tests are ridiculous and full of errors, and he is rude. If you must take him, go to every SI session you can and read the book to try to grasp concepts.
I went to class 2/3 of the time and didnt listen. I taught myself everything STRAIGHT FROM THE BOOK AND HIS NOTES. If you take this class, YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. Know the concepts and the details in the book, and youll get an A. Besides that his tests arent hard. Warning: he has a strong accent. I also didnt take AP Bio to do well in this class
Read the book. Make sure to know the concepts with small details. SI sessions didn't help me; they were too generic in teaching the informations. I went to class 2/3 of the time. I taught myself instead of listening to him. He has a thick accent and hard to understand. He throws out some questions on exams.
Avoid him if you can. He is very confusing and his lectures are hard to understand. I stopped going to class and just read the book and my test scores dramatically improved. Just be prepared to learn the material yourself. He does provide helpful outlines and some bonus. Overall, not a good teacher but manageable if you cant avoid him.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. Literally learned nothing because I spent the entire class struggling to do well on the tests. Forget grasping the concepts, you need to know every little detail to be able to answer the test questions. Read the book, and pray for a miracle.
He is very knowledgable about biology, but his tests are hard and they only cover the little details. His notes are also out of order and unorganized.
Dr. Singh is a very knowledgeable professor, but his tests are killer. He likes little details instead of concepts. He supplies lecture notes, but they are often unhelpful unless you know what he wants you to look for. It takes listening in class, SI sessions, reading the book, and studying for days to well in his class. Would not recommend
Dr. Singh is not an easy teacher and I would avoid him if possible. He focuses his tests on the tiniest details instead of concepts. To figure out the tiny details he wants you have to go to class. Otherwise, class is not helpful. Just use lecture notes and book. He is knowledgeable, but not good at teaching you
If at all possible, avoid his class. I went to class almost every day, and it never helped me. Dr. Singh is very knowledgeable and nice, but he is the most difficult teacher to follow that I have ever had. His tests really focus on tiny details. Instead of learning biology, I learned how to take his tests. Very difficult class.
He is an awful teacher. Almost everything I learned was self taught and made an A because I took AP Bio in high school. You cannot even understand him because of a thick accent. Don't take his class.
You will learn more by watching the discovery channel than by going to this guys class. Unbelievably boring, horrible english, the whole package. His tests are incredibly hard. Extremely specific and not a care in the world for concepts. You might not survive this one
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. He lectures verbatim from his slides and often gets sidetracked about people who won the Nobel Prize. Going to class is completely useless. His exams are SUPER hard and focus on unbelievably minute details that were probably never covered in class or his slides. This class wrecked my GPA. DO NOT TAKE.
Utilize study partners and understand all concepts before test day.
