Much of the stuff he teaches isnt in the book or on exams, so you could miss classes and still pass if you read the book. I wasnt that impressed. Pity - because I am interested in Cult. Geog -- but not w/ him as a professor.
Overall good professor. Fun to talk with, friendly and open, and we get to have a potluck on the last day of the LAB! LABs are simple but the class itself is a bit more work.
This teacher is excellant. You will learn a lot from him. By no means is he easy. Sometimes you'll feel like your in the Inferno. Eventually you'll survive.
very helpful, fun to be with
This class was very informative.Especially since Science isn't my subject. There are things we are oblivious to that we should all know. The teacher is enthusiastic, fair, and very, very helpful. I recommend getting to know him, he is a very knowlegable and genuine person!
Class was very informative. Tests included information from reading and notes, so attendance is important. No homework and only two midterms and a final. Very excellent professor.
Great guy and an awsome teacher. I can't say enough how much of a great teacher this guy is. If you have the choice between him and another, pick him.
He makes a great subject boreing and he has a superiority complex. "keep that in mind"
What are these other raters thinking? This "dude" says things like "more funner" and "keep that in mind" about 300 times an hour. He messes up tests and his powerpoints are like watching paint dry:he reads the typo-ridden ill-phrased sentences to you like you're five years old. Made a fun subject dull. May seem easy but it's just his lack of skill.
super funny with a lot of insight. makes for an interesting and informative class. take any of his classes if you get the chance.
Very knowledgable guy, knows his stuff. Makes class interesting and shorter. Almost everyday you get to go home early. Easy tests and a journal. Keep you interested in the class.
This guy is the laziest person I have ever seen teach. Not only that, he seems to be self obsessed with his own stories. If you are looking to really learn something, I suggest you find another geo instructor who really is interested in teaching and not hearing himself speak. RUN THE OPPOSITE WAY!

Great teacher and fun class. 2 tests and 1 final. No Homework. Not too difficult to get an A just study the material and pay attention in class.
easy teacher, easy tests, and no homework
great
Take his lab class! Being a full-time worker it was hard for me to attend every class but professor Bansal was very understanding and cool, his class is fun, and you learn alot. if you do your labs and show him that you are atleast trying, the man will be your best friend and you will get an A. great teacher!
This guy is really smart. He stays informed, and he likes his students to be informed. He is very environmentally conscious, which is great, and he has a lot of experience in global affairs, which is cool. I wish I could take more classes with him, because he's one of the few professors who actually makes you want to think about what he's saying
He's flexible and easy but the one that I can't stand about him is how much he brags about himself! He'll say: "Again, I'm not bragging," he talks about himself all the time. To add, a pretty big ego as well. The PPTs that he gives and the lecture outlines he gives out never match. During labs, he gives vague instructions...he's confusing.
He is an awesome teacher, just come on time, go to the lab and do the work. He cares for his students.
This Class was AWSOME I thought it was going to be hard because is not a subject I am good at. I got away with not buying the book and photocopy a friend's. He is extreeemely helpful, cares for his students and the labs are fun and not boring! Take him, be sure to go to lectures and take notes, GOOD LUCK!!!! VEry easy A
VEry good teacher.
One of the best teacher i had in Ohlone.
This class is tough! Oh my god, though it does not have any homework, it has a project, 50 points (1/8 of your max score u can get in total), and 300 points are the tests (Tests are difficult!!)
i don't even learn a thing. Tests are hard
The tests were very difficult and way out of left field. You can study all you want, but you will not pass the test if you are not good in history and geography. Totally off topic. I took it for environmental purposes and there was always geographical crap and history crap. annoying.
I took the environmental law online class and it was fairly interesting. If you want a definite A in this class make sure you have access to the book. Buy it on half.com on ebay cause at ohlone bookstore the prices are too jacked.
Same class as Biology 108...Professor Bansal is awesome. I'm considering Environmental Studies after taking this Human Ecology course. He gives it to you straight and you enjoy learning. One Exam, Midterm, Final each one taken online on Black Board. also, a Field Trip and 5 minute Presentation. Its nothing to a boss. Def take this guys classes!
uses outdated information he reads to class he's easily distracted do it online
He is an okay teacher. His lectures are pretty interesting but he does go off topic a lot. His tests are kind of challenging. If you really study, you'll be fine during the test.
He is a grate professor; very knowledgeable, understanding, and helpful especially if knows you?re committed. Definitely take his class, you?ll enjoy it. I took several of his classes, I learned a lot. He is very funny, not boring at all.
Professor Bansal is a great teacher. I actually enjoy going to his class and listening to his lectures. He is extremly helpful if you have any questions or concerns.
definitely one of the best teachers at ohlone.
Easy class, friendly and reasonable professor. He seems passionate about the material, and because of this he very often weaves his somewhat extreme views/opinions into his lectures. I was only taking the class for a requirement, and was not particularly interested in the subject. however I found it to be somewhat interesting.
he is a great teacher . you have to attend his class otherwise he can embarrass you. he is very funny. you will love his class
The best professor I've ever had, hands down. Made learning FUN and super enjoyable. I never thought in my life I would miss summer school...but this class was the BEST class I've ever had!!! It's a Science Course..and I learned SO much it's unbelievable. Plus, every day we got tons of breaks and never felt any kind of inconvenience. LOVED CLASS
Overall the class was easy and Narinder was a cool/chill professor. There was a lot of good information in the class, but sometimes I found it hard to discern between the facts and his personal opinion (which he gives on a daily basis). Very little homework/reading, one group project/presentation at the end. Easy A if you show up and do the work.
He's an awesome teacher, and I'm taking a class with him next semester. Far from a pushover- you have to work for that grade. Tests are tricky, attention to detail and good notes during lectures are a must. I just wish we had more engaged class discussion as opposed to power points. Absorb the information and you'll be FINE.
Narinder is very laid back but extremely informative. Pretty funny guy and easy to get along with. Doesn't believe in grades. Two tests. No homework. Class consists of slide shows, lecturing but mostly class discussion. He really likes to engage with his students and get them thinking about real life problems. Fun field trips & you get to garden!
This class was awesome. I don't know why people criticize this professor's class, but this is an easy A as long as you are not lazy and keep up with the lectures and homework. The lectures are actually amazing, so don't miss out on them.
Prof. Bansal is by far one of the top teachers at Ohlone College. His classes are not only fun to attend he involves everyone and makes you "think" and then brainstorms ideas with everyone. The work is there and so are the presentations you just have to make sure you attend lecture and study for the tests. Overall great Professor Recommended!
After looking through RMP and seeing all the great reviews, I looked forward to taking his law class online. I made a big mistake. He literally never gave any feedback on the quizzes, just a number. Didn't respond to e-mails in a timely manner, if at all. The tests were based on material we never covered in discussion posts or quizzes.
Do not take this class. I can't learn anything in this class. He likes to talk his experiences during this class and never lectures us. He likes to insult his students when he has bad moon. I don't understand why he can be a teacher. If you are willing to fail, just take it.
Don't take his class.
The exam is so difficult because he asks so many things and his lectures sometimes don't make sense. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
If you take his class, you will definitely fail. The exam is hard and there is no guidance. Worst professor!
STAY AWAY! DON NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! This guy is not a good professor and his is not friendly!
I took several online classes in this college. I would state that this class is the worst online class. I ask him some question how to review my test. However, he never reply me. I will never ever take any his classes anymore. Also, the test is very hard. He never cover anything. I only can study by myself. I will drop this class.
I will drop this class soon. A lot of pop-quizzes!!!!! He is a moody and emotional teacher. If he is happy today, you can go home and don't need to take his class. If he is unhappy, you will receive pop-quiz! Omg, I should have not taken his class!
You have to memorize a 1000 pages book to pass your exams! Terrible!
The labs were terrible! You would get the feeling that he did't want to assist you! This was the worst class I've ever taken.
Drop this class!!!!!!! Don't take his class!!!!!
He was completely unhelpful and totally arrogant. It's quite clear why he is a community college teacher and not an actual environmentalist. Truly awful professor.
Easy F! take his class without questioning!
Easy Online class. Get to work in the garden which is fun. Tests are not hard but fine details are asked. Read the book and do the work and you will do great in the class. I didn't learn a lot about anything but I did learn a little about a lot of topics.
Great and organized online class. As long as you can self-discipline yourself, the workload is not a lot.
The class can be seen as hard, but if you show up and take notes along with reading the chapters it is easy. There are a total of 3 tests which are take-home, online tests. Then there is a final project (many options to choose from) along with a field trip. Class can be easy as long as you put in the work.
This was a required GE class option for me. I really took a lot away from this class. Narinder is very engaging and though the class is lecture based he works to involve the students. Very knowledgable and with a passion for environmental issues, you definitely take something away from the education you receive from him. Would highly recommend.
I have never taken a geography course ever but I am glad this one was my first one. Very inspiring teacher, the material is amazing and how he compares real world problems to the work in class is a great way to remember. As I have taken the summer class (not online), it is actually a lot of reading from around 5-7hours everyday. Very fun class tbh.
I have taken two classes taught by Professor Bansal. Both classes were really enjoyable because he's not the type of teacher that forces you to stick your head in a book 24/7 and make you memorize a bunch of useless things. He really engages the students, through lectures/garden days/group work and makes class fun for the students!
He is a really nice guy and an easy grader with not much work. He is always available via email and quickly gets back to you. I've taken him several times and always an easy class. Easy going with a good sense of humor and very caring. Tests and quizzes are all done online and at home. Get it?
hes cool & funny, pretty easy class if you try, lots of lectures but he makes it fun
Best class EVER, Easy A! (If you work for it), FIELD TRIPS :) , and Super Fun Gardening! Every class session worth going to, felt soo sad on the last day!
I took his online ENVS108 class. It was very easy and there was barely any homework. Just one assignment per week and some textbook reading. He has everything he wants outlined exactly in the syllabus and the class was very straight forward. Definitely would take again - it's an easy A!
Overrall his class was easy. Aslong as you did the assignments according to the rubric/criteria you almost 99% got full credit. It might seem overwhelming as there is a lot of assignments but they were not difficult nor stressful.
The information he presents in class is very interesting and isn't hard to process as long as you think about it. The tests are kind of difficult (the study guides do not help), but it wasn't all that bad. The class makes you care a lot more about the environment.
His online class consists of weekly discussion boards along with one other assignment per week. We had one midterm, one final, a field trip assignment, and a journal/book report assignment. Basically, if you do the assignments on time following the correct format, you will pass the class with an A. Recommend taking it for a GPA boost!
There is hardly any homework in this class, mainly projects and exams. I would study for the exams since they are not easy, but otherwise, it is a good class for a GPA boost. I personally did not enjoy the class because the professor cusses extremely often.
This professor may be easy, but he is a depressing lecturer. He uses terrible language and is not professional at all. He makes it seem as there is no point in trying to save the world. I came out of the class feeling more depressed about the environment than before.
Awesome professor. He really wants people to pass and will help you as much as he can. The lectures are funny and you can tell he loves the subject. Hes also a very nice person and it is just a great experience to be in his class. I recomend taking him!! I would defenetly do it if I could but this is my last semester.
This class is SUPER easy. Discussion board every week as well as one other assignment (Ted Talk/ Eco Assignment). One multiple choice midterm and final. Basically, if you complete the work, you get the full points. Truly based on completion. Would recommend this class for a GPA boost. Prof Bansal is also very nice and communicative.
The only thing that I didnt like about his class is how strict he was. It is an online class and some professors sometimes take in account that you are very busy, so they give you the chance to do your homework until Friday night. With him the homework were due on Thursday right at 11:30 pm and there is no late work policies.
100% on all assignments. Tests are open note, he gives you the chapter outline to use on the tests. Final was take home open resource. 92/100 on the final. 89.51% in the class, waiting to see if he rounds up. He also gave extra credit throughout the quarter!
Pros and cons to him. Pros: Tests are open notes but in class. the final is take home. He has about 2 easy assignments (work at the garden and go to an event and write a paper). Gives a few extra credits. Cons: His study guides are NO help. You really need to read the textbook. Can be rude too over small things. He's ok but would not take him again
Only a few assignments are given which is great. Lectures are funny but a bit short. The study guides don't help much besides that it just says a certain topic, but at least tests are open note. Extra credit is given. He opens your eyes to a lot of things. I just wish the tests were similar to the lectures or the study guides were more thorough.
Had an amazing semester with him. Probably one of the funniest and coolest professors I've ever had. Amazing lectures. You can tell he puts a lot of care into his slides and I don't think you'll regret taking this class. Ever.
Honestly this is the class that's so boring you don't wanna show up. I mean he's an okay grader. If you try you'll get a B. However, he is rude like he will make it obvious if he doesn't like you. I do not recommend, but if you have no other option then take him.
He is funny but sometimes can be naggy. Love him tho. His lectures will not be on the test. And his tests are not the easiest, but the final is take home. Honestly one of the most caring professors, as long as you don't step on his tail you should be chilling.
Bansal's way of teaching, and the take away from the class, is such a gift. Highly recommend!
I took this professor online environmental science 108 class, and it was honestly such a greater learning experience then I had anticipated. The coursework was a little heavy, but the grading material was extremely clear on how to get an A. As long as you keep up with the work, the class should be a breeze!
Took him during the summer term and absolutely loved his class! He's hilarious and will make class super entertaining. He has everything up on canvas and the instructions are pretty straightforward! Would recommend.
This was honestly the easiest class I've taken in my life. Super short weekly assignments and multiple choice quizzes/tests that you can find the answers to online super easily. If you're looking to transfer but have no interest in biological sciences or are just looking to pad your GPA, take this class. Do not recommend for actual ENVS majors.
I took his Geography 101 class for the summer and he's a great guy. At first I found him to be rudely strict but I easily warmed up to him. He is strict but only because he cares for your education. Be prepared to do physical work at the garden. It was my least favorite but was easy credit. I took him again for Environmental Studies.
I took his online geography class over the winter break and it was one of the easiest classes. I was able to finish most of the work immediately when it was available. Tests were based off of the textbook and discussion posts were easy to do.
His class was easy and very fun to participate in. I took his class in 2017. He offered extra credit opportunities and the tests were open notes. He was very fair and funny. I'd recommend his class to anyone if you're just doing it for a GE or if it's for your major.
He is okay. 3 exams, open-note, final is take-home. Get the EC when you can. It pulled up my grade by 15%. It helped that much. Study guides were useless. Most questions on exams were from the textbook reading which you need to ready on your own.
After taking his GEOG 101 summer class I took him again for his fall ENVS-108 class. He's a great guy just don't use your phone in class or he'll get upset and kick you out of his class. His tests are open notes but you really have to read the book. His final was a take home. Great guy, gives extra credit, just don't get on his nerves.
I took the online cybersession class and it was pretty easy. There was an exam, midterm and final. There is weekly homework and he gave us four days to complete it. For the writing and video assignments, we got to choose our own topics on what to write about. Discussions are easy and he's a fast grader.
Caring & passionate instructor. Clear expectations and be ready to read & right a-lot. Easy grader w/ weekly discussions, exam, mid term, final and one project. Understanding especially for working students. GPA boost class for sure. Lots of work but super easy ! Take this class you wont regret it.
You need to read your textbook. Most of the stuff on exams are from the textbook, bot the slides, just be aware of that.
When I took his in person class, the class consisted of basically interesting lectures the whole time. He is very straight forward in what he wants. A couple tests and extra credit that seriously boosted up my grade. His tests are also all from the book, the littlest details, so take good notes.
He is the best! With our current situation he has molded the class, hes never on our case about turning stuff in THATS ALL ON YOU!! YOU have to be the one to be aware of turn in dates but thats easy once you get flow of the class, follow his examples (templates) EXACTLY! Color, font, size, etc- for an A. The best!
Professor Bansal is very clear with everything about his class: the assignments, grading criteria, and expectations. He is also very prompt about posting assignments and grades. He only posts a few assignments per week, and they are all due during the week rather than weekends. If you do all the work, you will pass without issue.
I took out the time to write how nice and fun his class was. I took his class in the summer and he is such a cool guy. Most of the work he lets us do it in class. His knowledge is incredible. He has many interesting points that has a direct affect to today's society. After a year I still remember many of the things in class. btw this is an EZ class
This professor is amazing! He grades really easy and his workload is not that much. I had him in the winter semester and the work was very doable. If you need to take a geography class, then this is the professor for you!
Bansal is really easy to get an A from. As long as you do all the assignments and the project you'll be fine. The midterms and final are really long. The average is about 50-70 questions. There was a discussion each week, a news review every 2 weeks, 2 midterms, and 1 final. Really straightforward.
Great class! Hes very lenient on assignments and is understanding. Every week theres a discussion about the readings and occasionally article reviews. Id recommend taking his class if you need it!
I took his fully online class and loved it! It was clear what was given for the week and what to read. The quizzes can be confusing but are easy when starting it. Overall great teacher! I would recommend full online but yeah!
I had professor Bansal as my Environmental Studies 110 in Spring 2021. This was fully online since we were still in the pandemic, grades easily on discussions and other assignments as long you follow the rubric to receive full credit. Not a tough grader at all!
Rounded me up a few percent without asking, very lenient grader and easy assignments for the most part.
I took Professor Bansal for Geography 101 online class in the spring semester. The Professor is so lovely and gives a quick response to your email. The online course is very well organized. Do the work, and you will pass the class without any issues. The labs for this class are so easyno tests or quizzes for this class.
I would have given him a full five if it wasnt for the god awful study guides for the exams. This is nitpicking but his study guides arent super clear which is so bizarre because his grading rubrics are very clear and to the point.
The class is very straightforward. Alternates each week with discussion posts, news articles, and there are 2 exams and 1 final, and a project of your choice: gardening on campus or the farmers market trip. Very strict on deadlines, does not accept any late work. Follow instructions, do the reading, and you will be fine.
He is a good professor. Clear instruction! Easy grader, just participate. As long as you show you're a good student, he will be understanding if you mess up or need an extension.
HW was pretty easy (one lab and discussion a week). Just make sure to keep up with the reading or it can get overwhelming. Assignments could be viewed on Mon and were due by Thurs, even for holidays. My only complaint was that the tests were a bit confusing, and the study guides were not the most clear. Not all the questions were from the book.
Took professor Bansal for cybersession (GEOG-104) and he was the best! Modules organized super neatly, doable work, replied to emails same day. I took this class because I needed an elective and this was by far the easiest class I have taken at Ohlone. Only heads up is that you'll need to attend a SF or Oakland farmers market for the final.
Professor Bansal is a great choice if you plan on needing easy credits. All the assignments are graded on a very strict rubric, just make sure you follow his guidelines and you should never score lower than a 100 on any assignment aslong as you follow the guidelines for the respective assignment.
This teacher is very nice and the assignments are easy to do. You get full points as long as you follow the rubric. Professor Bansal is also an easy grader and I would take him again.
Professor Bansal is one of the easiest professors I have ever taken. Just follow his instructions, read and study the book provided and you will be fine. I like to take him again for other future courses either in geography or in Environmental Science.
Follow the rubric--EXACTLY--and you will do fine. I didn't do super well on the midterm and final exams and still got an A from the discussions, reviews, book report, and farmers market field trip. Learned a lot, nice professor.
I took two courses from Professor Bansal and got an A+ in both with zero stress, including the three week cyber session. Incredibly easy, light work that still helps you understand the topic. Would recommend making a group chat of some sort with the class if you're doing it online.
Easy A to fulfill GE (Non Lab) requirement. Highly recommend this professor.
MAKE A GROUP CHAT WITH YOUR CLASS MATES! this is fairly easy for ge
This class was easy and I learned a lot. I definitely recommend taking mr. bansal for any science classes you need.
the class is articulated well with less workload but god those study guides and millions of unrelated test questions set me back a century. The exams are such a hit and miss and you cannot rely on the study guide, you must be a good test taker although his other works are fairly easy as long as guideline is followed
only a 4 because he is no help for exams so make sure you read well and don't trust your gut and textbook completely because questions can be tricky. It is a point based class so you can calculate and lack a little on exams, he is easy at grading as long as you follow his steps : FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY for an easy A. Grades on following
Prof Bansal was the best, he is very simple when it comes to assignments so that you can get more out of learning. Pay attention in his class DONT GO ON YOUR PHONE in class!! (he calls you out). Hes very funny and hes super hip! Hes a very relaistic person and I respect him a lot because of how good he is at what he does.
he is pretty chill, i only put get ready to read bc you need to for the exams cause his study guides don't help. You can still ace the class without doing too good on the exams
such a great online course!! his expectations are clear, and if you follow instructions, it's a guaranteed good grade.
While he is a great person, I felt that he wasn't very helpful in guiding us towards success in the class. The lectures did not feel well connected to the 3 exams, which had around 60-70% class average. Otherwise, he doesn't assign much work, and he's very passionate about environmental science.
Overall it is alright. You have to buy a textbook which is 10$ per month for 4 months. He is flexible with assignments and projects. However, the exams don't make any sense. They are very hard and textbooks won't help so much. Altough the textbook is interesting and so good, you can learn a lot from the textbook.
Good guy but his lectures don't relate to the exams at all. So hard to understand cause nothing he says is ever on the actual test. They're formatted very difficultly. Even with the textbook it's hard to do good as he makes the tests hard to understand. I dislike that we have only 5 assignments, 3 being exams that make up almost all of the grade.👎
He comes off as very strict at first but he is a chill guy and passionate about environmental science. The exams are hard but he gives 2 big assignments that make up most of your grade at the end which make up for it. Would recommend taking it if you need a science class.
Great Professor he talks about very interesting topics about the problems with the world such as the environment/climate change.
Pretty chill class. Just follow the textbook and you'll be good. Unstuck AI was super helpful for exam prep - saved me tons of time compared to the study guides.
Easiest class with a lab and great professor. He's super direct but easygoing. There's only about 2 main assignments and 3 exams(open-note.The exams will bring your grade down but as long as you attend lab and do the assignments correctly you'll get a good grade.Lab is only for about an hour each time and you work in the garden once every other week.
Easy class and great professor. There's really only 3 main assignments that are easy and 3 exams (open-note). The exams aren't easy so they will bring your grade down but as long as you get full credit on your assignments you'll get a good grade. He's easygoing but I reccomend staying on his good side as he's not afraid to call people out.
I really enjoyed his class and his lectures. He is very passionate about his work and his lectures are very informative, engaging, and fun. There are only three exams, which can be difficult as many questions weren't delved into in class, so it was a guessing game for me at times. However, it is still easy to get an A if you put in some effort.
Each week there is reading from the textbook, discussion board, and 2 short annotations.3 exams also provide study guides for each. Major field trip to the farmers market which is worth a lot of points. Follow directions precisely or else you will lose points. He grades super easy you might do bad on exams but other assignments will make up for it.
He seems intimidating at first but once you get to know him he is a pretty chill guy. He loves answering questions but the way he teaches is very old school and only uses slides. Not much homework but his tests are way more of the textbook then the slides which is something I definatley wish I knew before hand
I really enjoyed this class and the teacher, he cares about the subject. The tests are based of the textbook so make sure you read it and come to class since labs are easy but you must be there for credit. Put effort into the class and he will appreciate it.
He's a pretty good professor, and you'll get a good grade if you put in the effort and do all of the work (there isn't much at all). Gardening every other week. He comes off as intimating, so just be on his good side and you'll be fine. He three tests will bring your grade down, but if you do good on the labs and gardening journal you'll be good.
