The class average is a 55%, all he does is bumble around, he cant even solve his own examples. I got an A in both micro and macro econ, yet I'm failing this class. He is without a doubt the worst teacher I've ever had.
He is super easy. He comes to class, lectures, and that is all. He gives you the questions that he is going to ask on the exam the class session before, so you can already have the answers. He doesnt seem to spend too much time on his students though, he returned our group project without any expanation of our grade. Very very easy class.
His class was sooooo easy. He gives you the questions for the exams and sometimes he cancels class because he 'doesn't feel like teaching'. The presentation is informal and he falls asleep. It's good to ask him for the answers to the exams so you know what to write about.
Save yourself and dont take this guy. He's terribly incompetent, and likes to give out c-'s so people have to retake the class.
Duella is just really laid back. Class is like story time...he informs you of the topic, is very breif and thats it. Just understand the main concepts. No need for memorizing trivial facts and other crap. Study the essay questions and walk out with an A. Hes a smart guy, just listen.
very good teacher. easy yet you learn a lot in his class that you can apply in real life. learning is effortless. you have to be an idiot to fail.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Very possibly the worst teacher I have ever taken, hard to understand, tests are ridiculous, does not curve (even when the class average is way too low), Sounds like Kermit the Frog! Uses book that he wrote, looks like he printed it off his home pc. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
He's easy to understand. The work is very manageable and somewhat easy. One of the better professors I've had at CSUF.
Entry level ECON class for grad level students. Consists of 2 midterms, 1 report, 3 H/W and final. Report is easy "A" and tests are very similar to H/W assignments. Not hard, but material is covered really fast. Losts of theory covered but tests are mostly math problems (using algebra/calculus). Not difficult to get alteast a "B" overall.
the class wasnt too hard. his lectures are a bit boring though. A good portion of the exam is in his lectures. He tells you whats gonna be on the tests also. His exams consist of about 6-7 questions and you only answer 4...which sounds tough but he gives partial credit on the exams too. econ is not a easy class so i would suggest to take him.
This teacher is super boring but also super easy. Easy A. take him and buy his book not the one at the library!
I had Michaels for summer and his tests were pure essays. I ended up receiving a D in Michael's class, and an A in Duella's class. The main difference I saw was that he covers the material well, and he also gives the student opportunities to pick 4 questions out of 6 on tests. Usually 4 of them were calculation problems, and 2 were essay questio
VERY EASY TEACHER
Buy his book, not the one at the bookstore. He is extremely boring, but fairly easy.
he is one of thee nicest and easiest, and fairest teacher for this course. He offers e/c and his exams are super easy if you do the handout problems. Promise..just try your best, and give some effort and guarantee a 6yr old could even pass his class. No Joke! BTW, attendance is optional (for those who don't care and are lazy)
REALLY COOL TEACHER! I highly recommend you take this person if you want to do well in the subject. I got a B without studying for doing anything!
Very helpful during office hours. 3 HW assignments you can work on with classmates. 2 exams very easy. Buy his book, it's all you need to know. He tells you exactly what to study for the exam. No tricks, very straighforward
This teacher is no help what so ever. his classes are all lecture...he just goes on and on. his assignments like essays and projects are always unclear and you have to ask him like 50 times to get a clear answer. if your good at econ then this is a good class. it is easy in the beginning but gets hard towards the end. good luck
most boring teacher. tests are hard.dont even bother buying the book. & wears the same clothes everyday.- the outfit just changes per week.Oh and he's rude.
WOW!!! How can you not take this professor? I am a Econ major, and this teacher is by far the best econ teacher I have ever come across. Explains everything crystal clear. Tells you what you need to know for the test. Just take good notes, and I promise you will get at least a B. Best econ teacher by FAR!!!
this professor sucks! large class n more than half of em fell asleep or were texting every day! so boring.. u just want to leave. dont take him. lectures are understandable if you pay close attention n take really good notes. make sure you are wellllll prepared for exams. DO NOT RECOMMEND HIS CLASS
Professor Duella is simply astounding. He wears the same thing to every class, and has a catchphrase: "for the simple reason...". He is a god of economics. Buy his book, not michael bayes...and go into his office if you have any trouble, he will do the assignment for you. take this class
Pretty easy class but his voice is very monotone. buy the book he made (40$)he seems quite boring...but im convinced EVERY econ class/teacher is boring...so this would be a "good" econ class...considdering its an econ class
He knows his stuff but doesn't make it interesting at all. If I had him for my first economics class I probably never would have made it my major. He tells you what to study for the exams but make sure you understand all the formulas. The midterm and final are almost completely math problems but most of what he lectures on is not.
This class is very difficult not because the material is hard but rather because the material is very dry and boring. He tries his best to make the class interesting but not much can be done to make microeconomics interesting. He is however, very clear in explaining concepts and is very helpful. He is very willing to help and grades very fairly.
He's a nice guy and is helpful if you ask questions. Lectures can be boring but he's very knowledgeable and he gives great reviews for the exams. They're blue book exams. There is a regression analysis assignment and a few easy homework assignments. Overall he's good, I recommend him!
No doubt really boring, but if you love enonomics you are definetely going to pass the class, most of the material and assignment were online. just have to do good on the assignments.attendance is not mandatory, but dont do it too often.
woow i luv econs but this class was so booring, i really didnt like using my econ lab, exams were ok. you can take him if you dont have any better choice.
Class was boring every minute of every day. Then again this is practically the same crap that has been taught to us in high school. He will answer any questions, but you cant help but wander off for a few minutes and come back to and say WTF is he talking about as you look at your neighbor's notes. Need to go to class to take notes, doesnt use book
Powerpoint slides are on blackboard. During class he reviews them and adds his own material that are not on the slides but are directly from the book. HE KNOWS THE BOOK BY HEART. HE FOLLOWS THE BOOK!
He IS the human version of the book. He is so helpful and does not got impatient. But because the class is so small he notices ur absenses or cutting class early...and if you do he feels less sorry for you. GO TO CLASS. Also he actually cares about you passing so go to him for help before you go to a tutor.
I had this guy back in the day. He was mono-tone, boring, and didn't make sense to me. I took Econimies of the Pacific Rim...bad choice. If you could help it, I would not take him, but I'm not a big fan of econ either. It's up to you!!
Very knowledgable. You won't need the book, just pp and take notes. His review for the exams are very detailed. Project is pretty easy, hardest part is just finding the data online. Hw is part of your grade but is easy, it's just like his examples from lecture. Short story, go to class, take notes, do hw and you should do well.
Dr. Duella is a wonderful professor. He is extremely helpful and thoroughly explains the concepts. As the previous person mentions, you must attend class to do well on the homework and exams. He cares about your success in the class and is always available during his office hours.
TAKE HIM! He is seriously the best teacher for econ ever!I took him because I failed my first econ 201 class with another teacher. Yes, econ is so boring and not fun at all but if you go to every class and pay attention this class is SO easy! Aplia homework sucks but its a good learning tool. I love him, hes a great teacher!
Took this class for summer -- Prof Duella is a kind man but lectures are unbearable and he talks way too fast. Midterm was very easy but for those of you who took him for summer 2010 know that the final was impossible. He doesn't give EC and doesn't curve. If you like econ take him.
Not a bad teacher, but the class is very boring. Not necessary to attend every class, his lectures are straight from the book so make sure you read if you plan on not attending class. He is always willing to clarify, likes participation, and is a pretty nice guy overall. His exams aren't too bad. I would recommend taking him.
Some say that he is a little unclear but I was generally able to understand what he taught. Extremely nice professor and always willing to help. Do ask if you are unclear or visit his office to speak to him. Attend class, take notes and do the homework. He gives out study guides too. Would take him again for any Economics class.
Pretty easy class....I only went a handful of times and had no problem passing the class. If you go to class the week before the midterm and final, he will tell you EXACTLY what to study for the test. You have to really try and not pass his class.
Second time taking class, and I liked him.He uses myeconlab hw and quizes, that allow multiple tries. Most people got close to 100%. He gives two tests, not cumulative.I got a 69% first test, about 100% on hw,quiz,B on paper and F on final. I ended up with 75%. I would take this class again
I enjoyed Prof Duella's Econ 335 class. The class is fairly difficult due to many of the concepts in the course. He has an answer to everything and always answers a question by "Well the answer is simply.....". Book is not needed and powerpoints are useless. You just have to go to class and take down all notes from his lectures.
The professor is definitely a human version of the textbook and a good lecturer. If you take good notes and attend lectures, you won't need book. The PPs used are sometimes too basic for the questions he asks on the quiz and exams. One essay is required, but overall I enjoyed his class and would recommend.
I generally like economics, but this class can be a bit dull. The grade consists of 1 midterm, 1 final, an essay and weekly homework. Overall the work is pretty easy, but the test questions are difficult unless you attended class and payed attention. Also, he likes people to go to his office hours and will try to help them.
not mandatory to attend class. BUT you should!!!! he uses slide show but the stuff on the test is from what he says during lecture. HW & term paper super easy. tests are from lectures about 60% from what he says and explains. 40% from slides. ook is not needed.
Dr. Duella is a great professor. Exams are straight forward. No trick questions at all. If you read the chapters once and review the PP slides, I guarantee an A in the class. Otherwise, don't take him because you won't do well.
Easy class. Didn't use the book. Just go to class and take notes. I highly recommend this class!
Teach yourself. Seriously, read and reread the book and you are better off than attending class. He recommends attendance but I became more confused by attending. He pretends like he knows what he is talking about but without his notes on the side, he would have no idea. Horrible. Mistakes in his power points, which he tells you to study for exams.
Professor Duella is probably one of the most knowledgeable professors we have at fullerton. HE IS the version of the book. Knows economics inside and out. Really caring professor. Go to him for help!
Overall the class was straightforward. He uses PPT made by the book publisher and lectures all class time. 2 exams, roughly 8-10 hw assignments that are multi choice and can do at home, 2 quizzes(not really quizzes because they're 100% the same as the hw), and a paper. Boring class, but you're pretty likely to pass with a C or B.
Great Prof. If you attend every class and take good notes, you will pass the class. Attendance is not required, and most students don't even bother showing up for the lectures(it's most likely the same students that give him bad reviews). He is a very good professor.
Backwards learning, you have to do the homework online before he teaches. He is confusing during lecture and very boring, hard to pay attention even if you want to learn. You're almost better off just staying home and teaching yourself. Tough grader for papers, I can usually get As but only got a C on this one. I would not take this again.
Quite a heavy accent which can make it hard for students to understand during lectures. He has PPT but most of the time skips through them because he "already explained it," so I had to race with note-taking. Has online homework, but not helpful for tests at all.
I took 201 with him ,now im taking 335 and315 he is so helpful midterm are super easy but finals are very hard . Wanna pass? Attend the class even tho its not mandatory
I took his economic development class over the summer, and I HIGHLY recommend him! He only assigned 1 paper, 2 short group projects, and 2 tests. His midterm and final are very similar to the study guide, so you know what to expect. He is one of THE NICEST professors I have ever had, and would definitely take him again. He made me respect Econ Dev.
He was fantastic! He let me reschedule TWO exams due to circumstance but he trusted my word and did not need to see my Dr. note. Very intelligent and patient. He reviews when most teachers expect you to remember everything from previous courses. Absolutely loved this class and him!
This class is not difficult as it made out to be. The test may seem tough, if you do not understand the homework. The test and homework are 87% identical. The lectures can seem a bit boring, but he will go over questions that will appear on the tests. There is a report, but that's not something to worry about. This is a university so study for it
States tests are similar to the homework - wrong! Read each chapter more than once and go over the large PowerPoint slide decks. Take good notes and do every practice problem you can. Know each topic inside and out. Don't expect to get out of class early and remind him about a break time or the class will NOT get one.
Speak up and participate, he loves students that do. He will also answer your questions, so don't be afraid to ask away. Cheap book. One midterm, one final, and one short presentation. Some homework, multiple choice -tough, but doable. Exams are rough! If you want an A, read, go to class, and actually learn and think critically about the material.
Professor Duella is a great teacher. He takes his time on the chapters and really hammers the concepts in. His grading policy is very generous. You might be able to skip class if you just read the book. His final was so tough and different from what we were expecting. It tanked my grade, but his grading curve saved me. His lectures feel very long.
Nice guy, really knows the subject front and back, but doesn't always communicate it in the most fascinating way. The tests are based almost directly off of the homework packets. Lectures do help but they are quite dry. A few tests, a final, and an essay given at the beginning of the semester due on the day of the final.
A very patient and intelligent professor. Answers all the question that students ask and doesn't get annoyed. This class could be a bit boring due to the subject itself but he tries to make the subject easy to understand. Book is not required if you read the power point and attend all his lectures. Midterms, writing assignments and presentation.
DO NOT TAKE! Super boring. No study guides & powerpoints barely say anything. 2 group projects everyone gets the same grade. Paper is not clear on what he wants & everyone got the same grade. 2 Tests are both 5 short essay questions. There is a lot to know and doesn't say what to study. Accent hard to understand.
He is simply amazing. Unlike other professors he did not want to fail his students on purpose. He is suer intelligent. Grades are based on two tests and 3 hw assignment . Gives the study guide exactly like the test. The assignments are extremely easy. Don't miss the chance, just take him.
Better than expected. It is important to attend all his lectures because the tests come form his lectures not only the text book. HW assignments are easy and the midterm and final are what you get on the study guide. No group work, just one term paper. Overall he made this difficult course easy and manageable.
Only one midterm and final, one writing project ( easy), and some take home quizzes. Overall, he was very helpful to his students. Does not give pluses and minuses which is good. Received a better grad than expected
BEST PROF EVER !!! HIS LECTURE SOOO INTERESTING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
highly recommended
Easy class IF you take good notes during lectures and just go through the PPT. You can tell that Prof Duella makes this class as easy as possible -- just put in effort. He always ask if anyone have any questions at the beginning of class and go over the material again. 2 midterm, 1 paper, and Mindtap hw, no extra credit! He's a living textbook lol
he is very nice and friendly, always willing to help students. Lectures are boring are easy A class, if you pay attention, do exercise and study before exams, you will get A. He gives lots of examples and make lectures very clear and understandable. Take him! it is easy
Attend his lectures and take notes of everything he says and you'll do well on the exam and final! He is always asking the class if they have any questions, so he's willing to help! His lectures can be dry but it helps you with doing well on your exam and final. Attendance is not mandatory. 1 midterm, final and 2 page research paper.
Professor Duella clearly knows his stuff. Unfortunately, his lectures are very dry. His tone and speaking patterns are monotonous. Tests are not easy but they are fair. He is clear on what you need to study. There is one midterm, one final, a paper, and online homework you have to buy. Don't skip class because tests are based on lectures, not book.
Dr. Duella can be a little dry, but his lectures are informational and tie back to the book. Come to class, take notes, and do the (pretty light) reading and you'll do fine. Moderate grader as long as the information is correct. Grade is based on 2 presentations, 2 exams, and 1 small paper that you can turn in early for feedback before final paper.
This class is way too hard if you want an A. However, getting a C is doable. This professors final was insane. Nobody scored well at all. Im extremely disappointed in him that there was no curve to be honest.
Although Prof. Nasser doesn't take roll, he's a walking textbook, and you should still attend. His examples, methods, etc. are less confusing than the text. He offers no extra credit though, so you have to really do well on the term paper, midterm and final. The midterm isn't difficult if you study and know the material, but the final can kill you.
He doesn't take roll but it is advisable to attend every class. The lectures are easy to understand. The tests are based on the lectures, not from the slides. Reading the book helps a lot. 1 paper - which is not so challenging, 1 midterm - which is fairly doable, but the final can kill you.
Class consisted of 2 exams, 2 presentations, & an essay. Lecture is really dry, goes over the readings from the book. Hes a pretty easy grader, know a decent amount & you can get away with a B. Exams are essay style (3-4 questions). He goes over topics that will be on the exam ahead of time (*Hint) If you wish to learn something avoid this prof.
Professor Duella is not the worst professor I've ever had, but he is pretty unorganized and isn't straightforward about how he grades stuff. Homework is due at really random times and ahead of time, even if he hasn't started covering it in class and he grades based off of the amount of effort he thinks you've put in. Gives good test reviews.
Professor Duella was incredibly caring and patient with his students. He'll answer all your questions during class, even if it means falling behind on his scheduled lectures which can be rough for the rest of the class at times. If you're an Econ major, this'll be an easy A for you. Go to class, do the homework and make use of the study guides.
Super unorganized. Comes up with examples on the fly and sometimes gets the answer to his own example wrong. Went to his office hours and even one on one he gives vague explanations that make no sense. Had to self teach course. Speech pattern is slow, boring, and will put you to sleep. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO STRUGGLE!
One midterm. One final. A couple of homework assignments. One paper and an easy class report. Gives you a breakdown of the exam as a study guide. Go to the class before the exam and you'll be fine. Lectures can be boring and hard to understand.
Currently taking Dr. Duella, next semester will be his last class to teach. 6 homework, 2 exams, and a 2-page writing assignment. Dr. Duella goes into detail (slowly) in his lectures and likes to get students involved by asking questions. Exams are based on slides, homework, and notes during his lecture.
The class is pretty easy, does not use proctorio, and only 1 midterm and final. 1 class report & 1 written assignment. The hw is easy and it is worth a lot. The class is super easy but be careful as his lectures are extremely boring and you will fall asleep.
Great guy. Very nice. Be sure to respond to his questions during lecture. :)
This guy was the single most difficult thing I've had to deal with in my college career. Doesn't reply to emails. Answers to questions rarely fully answer questions. Gave new material during final class session. Only allotted 20 minutes to go over the final. Final questions were worded in very confusing format that no one understood.
