Computer tests suck & you can't understand a word she says. She also gives daily quizzes over material before she "teaches" it. Very unhelpful after class/in office hrs, and unsympathetic to the language barrier. This evil woman destroyed my fre
Very intelligent teacher. Pay attention to her lectures and do the work and you'll be ok.
She's russian so it makes it a bit difficult to understand her completely but overall, a good teacher. Covers all the material needed to do well on the computerized tests. Need to be willing to put for the effort to study and review before tests.
She is an ok teacher if you learn by getting examples straight out of the book. Her quizzes are really hard, and she doesn't prepare you for them. I wouldnt take her if she taught another class.
As a teacher, she is great; as a person, she is excellent. This class was relatively difficult, just because the course material is made that way. If you listen to her, you'll have no problem understanding her and she's always willing to help you if you need it.
I took Pre-Calc with her when I was flailing with another teacher. It all actually started coming into focus with her! She has you do classroom assignments which is extremely helpful and takes the time to try and personalize her instruction. Excellent teacher!
Has a russian accent, but it doesn't cause a problem. She knows English well. A nice lady who makes sure to cover everything and keep students up to date on info. She will quiz you over hw and stuff she expects to be easy and know on your own but she gives advance notice on these. She knows the computer tests well and makes sure to teach examples of test questions. She is good about giving points back for stupid mistakes if you can prove it in your scratch paper.
GOOD TEACHER. VERY HELPFUL.
Natalia Alexeev is an excellent teacher; I have nothing bad to say about her. She is instrumental in me passing this very difficult class. Kids were mumbling about her accent in the back of class and that ticked me off! She makes herself available to help out and is very clear as to the material. Her quizes can be tricky still a really nice person.
Prof. Alexeev is a really nice lady, and a great teacher. Her accent takes a bit getting used to at first, but since her english and grammar is good, it doesnt draw from her effectiveness as an instructor. She will do all that she can to help you, all you have to do is ask. She checks WebCT regularly, and posts up all class material on it.
I really loved this teacher. She was always helpful and available when I needed to ask her a question even outside of the classroom. I'm taking her for Math 2200 next semster too and I'm excited because she was such a goo teacher. She gives quizes, but at the end she drops like 3 or 4 of them! so don't worry... she's awesome!
You'd be hard-pressed to find a professor who takes so much interest in the progress of her students, and will not hesitate to go out of your way to help you out. A really really nice lady, and excellent professor.
Alexeev is an excellent professor-very nice and always willing to answer questions. Grade is based on quizzes (one gets dropped), tests, and final only. All tests are fair with no surprises-she prepares you well for them. Homework is assigned as a self check on understanding the material. She made learning calculus easy!
Definetly get Natalia if calculus is required for your major! Math is my weakest subject, and I'd never studied calculus in high school, but I got an A in her class.
I was in the intensive section and it was well worth it. She is wonderful at helping you feel prepared for the tests and homework.
If you go to class and listen you'll understand the material perfectly. The quizzes come more or less straight from the homework. The tests aren't hard if you understand the material.
Amazing teacher! She has an accent but you can understand her really well. She's an absolutely great teacher and will answer every question you have. Her quizzes are NOT hard if you pay attention. She is also very available outside of class. Second best math teacher I've ever had - I would absolutely take her again!
She is extremely hlepful...the class itself is difficult but how well you do is based on your instructor so I would recommend her...she explains things very well and makes you come to class and learn the material
She is horrible! Do NOT take 1060 with her. She rambles on about unimportant things and her quizzes are nothing like the homework (nor what she teaches in class). Many students are lost and she gets mad at students who ask questions.
She is a great professor. I had never taken Calc before but ended up with a B+ in her class. She is very lenient in terms of grading tests and also drops your two lowest quizzes and your 5 lowest HW assignments which definitely helps.
EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! I am not a math person at all, but prof Alexeev was great. Her accent is hard to understand at first, but after the first week it gets easier. Calculus is not an easy class but she covers the material well, and you will know exactly what to expect on tests. TAKE HER!
A truly wonderful teacher. Her quizzes can be tricky, but she curves and will change future quizzes based on previous class performance. I'm not interested in math at all and she was more in-tune with the class than almost any professor I've ever had. Above all, she really really cares about her students and will help you out. TAKE HER!
She is a genuinely nice person and will attempt to help you, but she has a thick accent and doesn't so much teach you how to do the math but instead teaches you how to do the homework. So what you learn may not even show up on the test.
Class was tough. She is nice but difficult to understand sometimes so sit at the front of the class. Ask for help from TA or her for sure if you do not understand. Homework is not a good reflection of tests.
I loved math before this class. She shows examples instead of teaching concepts. You have to memorize steps for the tests. She just isn't a good teacher. On the other hand, her tests are easier than expected. I've made A's on all of them, but I'm relying on what I learned in high school calculus. She's nice, just not a good teacher.
She is so nice! She is a really good teacher if you are a visual learner because she teaches using examples. If you actually try, she will help you out with anything. The class itself is super easy especially if you are not a math person, which I am not. Great class for first semester in college.
She doesn't really teach all that well. she is really nice and will try to help though
She is really nice and was always available to help but is hard to understand, however she tries really hard and is very understanding. As far as teaching goes, shes not the best but I've had worse.
Her tests are pretty easy but she is a strict grader on them. She is kind of funny in a nerdy math humor type way. She sometimes tells math jokes in class. Kind of has a thick Russian accent but she is still easy to understand.
really easy class. she really cares about her students and is super nice! she takes roll everyday. the book is not really needed, just if you want to do the practice problems.
Excellent teacher. Wants you to do well. Don't need the textbook. But take her for sure! Not a great math student, but she makes sure you understand the material. Quizzes every other week.
Slow pace to the class (which is good for us non-math people). Test grades curved. Homework assigned, but not turned in. Easy project that's a great grade booster! Weekly quizzes. She has a strong accent, but you'll get used to it! She is understanding, and she takes time to explain things slowly. Awful at math and got a B
She has an accent, but as the semester goes on she gets easier to understand. She takes attendance, and it's important to go to class. It's really easy if you actually go to class. She drops the lowest two quiz grades out of the 6, and she gives extra optional quizzes at the end if there's time to help you grade. She gives lots of examples. Easy
She has a thick Russian accent but not too hard to understand if you sit close to the front. Not the best explainer, but she does a ton of examples so that you get the idea. She doesn't make you memorize a lot and gives you cheat sheets for the tests. She is always willing to help those who are struggling too. I would take her class again.
This professor has a Russian accent and is soft spoken so she is hard to understand and follow along. Presenting new theories or definitions she does not explain them in any detail. She works lots of example problems but often skips steps and is hard to follow. She also lectures at a fast pace which makes it hard to absorb. I learned from the book.
She's a very sweet lady. She really cares about her students and will do what she can to make sure you do your best. However, her class is by no means easy. Her lectures are boring because well... Calculus is boring. She could have done better at explaining and the tests are tricky. Overall this class was okay. Do your homework!!
Very clear in explanations. Quite an easy class. I'm terrible at math, and still managed an A-. Takes attendance, but it won't affect your grade. Posts PowerPoints online, so not necessary to attend every class.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. If you want to fail then take her class. She not only cannot explain anything clearly. I spent at least 2 to 3 hours a day in tutoring trying to get help and even that wasn't enough I ended up with drawing do to the fact that I couldn't afford to lose hope.
Took this class expecting it to be an easy A. I'm not particularly good at math, but the reviews on here seemed solid enough. Worked my butt off and came out with a B-. Course work starts off simple, then gets very hard. Drops 2 lowest quizzes, gives curves on every test (says something about her teaching...), strict attendance, hard to understand
Easiest course I've taken at UGA. I failed precal but I walked out with a 98 in her course. Didn't use the textbook much besides one section that she leaves up to you to learn, but it was super simple, and she'll explain it if you ask. You get used to the accent. She curves sometimes.
Natalia's a pretty good teacher. She does what she can to help you pass but don't expect the class to be an easy A. She's pretty flexible about homework due dates and goes over the homework in class before its due to give you a chance to actually get it done.
Her tests are curved pretty well. I'm terrible at calculus, and I pulled out B's on the exams. If you have trouble with the homework, she's more than happy to help. Russian accent but she's relatively cool
This class was an easy class made hard by a confusing professor. Professor Alexeev is Russian, so she has a thick accent which makes understanding her difficult at times. The class is easy and homework is optional, but the tests are somewhat difficult because she adds random material that she didn't really cover. Overall, Easy class.
I was a very good math student in highschool, but since my major does not require a tough math, I decided to take the easy way out. I ended with an A- in the class which is dissapointing to say the least. Its supposed to be an easy A, but this was not the case. I rate it more an easy A-/B+. I don't consider this a true math class.
Prof. Alexeev is a great teacher; she is there for you as a student at ALL times. She is one of those professors who puts in just as much as she expects from her students. She does tend to go fast, but she will stop & answer any & all questions. From someone who took calc in high school, if you have NOT taken calculus before it may be a struggle.
Alexeev is pretty solid all around. As others have said, her accent can be a bit of a hurdle, but you get used to it quickly. She goes through *many* examples in the class so you always have something to reference when doing homework and studying. She can be tough, but grades very fairly and is very helpful in office hours. I would take her again.
Natalia (she's tells you to call her that) is nice enough but her class is difficult. She isn't the best at explaining things but she tries so hard to help you- especially if you go to her office hours. Her accent (Russian) can be a bit confusing at times. Lots of homework. Tests are similar to the most difficult problems you do in class.
Literally my savior this semester! Went through some horrible stuff, and she bent over backwards to catch me up and make things easier for me. Such a sweet lady! Her accent is not so bad, and she will answer any questions you have. I had a hard time on tests, but I had to be absent a lot :/ She even set me up with a free tutor to help, though!
If you want to actually care to learn/understand math do not take this professor. She teaches by going through examples, so there is hardly any lecture content. Unless you've already taken AP Calculus in high school and have them at hand for reference, do not take her, because she assumed that "everyone" in class has done this already.
her accent is literally the worst thing i have ever experienced, i have no idea what she was saying. her course of teaching is very unorganized. she teaches by using examples that are already complete so she never actually SHOWS you how to do the problem from start to finish. her notes are jumbled and she jumps from one concept to the next quickly.
I personally did not do very well in her class, but it was mostly my fault. She is an AMAZING teacher and is always ready to help you whenever she can. Although she is very "to the point" (If you don't know something you should know, get ready to get rekt by her), she is excellent in explaining and works out many many problems prior to tests.
Nice lady, but she gives few grades.
She hardly gave lecture notes. However, having said that, she teaches through lots of examples and if you can learn by them, her class isn't hard at all. Her accent is not bad either. Her tests are very fair and similar to hw/sample tests she gives. She offers help often if you need it. Overall I liked her and thought she was a good math prof.
Her accent makes things hard at first but you get use to it pretty quickly. It's important to ask her if there's anything you don't understand or you will not pass.
As long as you go to class and do the homework it is not hard to get an A in this class. Posts practice tests that are just like the test she gives.
Russian accent is not ideal, but it's not terrible. Class is basically just her going over examples, which I thought to be effective. Three tests, and she gives a practice test before each one that is pretty similar to real test and helps a lot. If you study and put in the work, should be fine.
Class average on both tests were failing, and you cannot easily understand her accent. I would not recommend her to anyone. She should not even be allowed to teach.
Alexeev is by no means an awful professor, but she does a poor job at explaining concepts. She teaches by examples and lectures seem to drag on forever. She's very nice, cares about her students, and wants them to do well, however she is not the professor to take if you are not the type of student who is able to learn math on your own.
Calc 2 is really hard. *All you have to do* is practice all the problems she gives in the lecture. Like over and over again, till you can do them really quickly, on demand. Her tests pull problems almost directly from her lectures. Definitely get an A on the first test, because it just gets harder. I am a huge stupid at math, but I did ok.
A very caring teacher. She always make sure that the students understand the material. She went above and beyond to help me.
She is a great teacher. The lectures and homework are similar to test and often examples she uses in lectures are almost the same as test questions. Calc II isn't easy, but her lectures make it easy to understand the content. Overall awesome teacher would recommend taking her.
Dr. Alexeev is a great professor! Her lectures really help and she does a ton of examples in class that are just like the homework and tests. She's kinda fast paced but that's because she wants to get all the material you need to know covered in class. You don't need to study a whole lot out of class because of this. I would take her again!
Took this as a senior not having taken math all of college. Understand the examples in class and homework. Tests are very similar to these problems (not super complex) and the sample tests; not hard if you get it. Ask questions if you don't understand, she is very approachable. Work hard, dont skip class, and pay attention - you will do well.
If you have a good base of calc or algebra in your head, any 2250 class will be a breeze. If you're weak in math or have no knowledge of calc prior, then it will be tough with her. Natalia will definitely help you though, so don't be afraid to ask! Not a very tough grader compared to my high school calc teacher and curves sometimes.
I took this class in Spring of 2018. If are not great at math this class will be difficult. You will have to attend all lectures because attendance is mandatory. Make sure to write down her notes in class because she does not post them online. Tests aren't that bad if you do the practice tests. She's a fair teacher overall (kinda strong accent)
She's a pretty good choice for math 2250. She explained every concept really well and expanded on them using a lot of practice problems. She's also really good about office hours.
Prof. Alexeev is so kind! She actively cared about how I was doing and was concerned about me as a person, especially when it came to my future. I'd taken calc before so the class wasn't too tough, but it might be hard for someone without the experience. She has an accent but you get used to it pretty fast. Tests are fair and overall pretty easy.
Dr. Alexeev's lectures can be a bit jargon heavy, but once she gets into the examples it's not too difficult to understand what's going on. She assigns a lot of hw, but it really helps to understand concepts. She stays after class sometimes to answer questions and posts practice tests. You can tell she genuinely wants her students to succeed.
Professor Alexeev was one of my favorite professors of my first semester. She truly cared about my success and offered me ways to succeed. Although she has a thick accent and teaches a difficult class, you could tell she really wants her students to succeed. Attend class and pay attention, and you will get an A.
Mrs. Alexeev is so kind. We met for class three times a week, and I went to her office hours after class every time, and she always sat with me to work through problems. I am very dense when it comes to math, and even though her examples were confusing, her office hours resolved a lot of issues. She was a great teacher, but Im just bad at calculus
Ms. Alexeev is such a caring professor! she learned everyone's names quickly and gave many examples in class to prepare you for her tests (which she curves). is easily accessible through her office hours and explains whatever you need very well. kinda thick accent, but you adjust as time goes on. her test are fair imo, nothing random. solid choice!
Hard class but solid professor. She was very clear about her expectations and she worked really hard to make sure we all understood the math, as well as the assignments and due dates and was wonderful at explaining the concepts. Mostly all independent work and lectures, and you can tell she knows her stuff and cares about her students.
She is UGA GEM! Calc 2 is hard but she really REALLY cares about her students. If you do the work and go to office hours and ask questions you will do fine. Go to class even if it is optional it will only help you. Her non webassign tests are easier because she makes them similar to practice tests and notes IMO. I love her so much! TAKE HER!
I do not recommend taking Alexeev for a hybrid/online class. While she is a solid professor when able to teach in person, her trying to teach people on zoom and in person at the same time did not go great. Additionally, there is 2 months between each test, which in a class like Calc 2 that is a ridiculous amount of content to tested on at once.
She has a thick accent but you will get used to it. She knows what she's talking about, the only problem is that she's quiet and it feels hard to ask her questions. Overall she's a really great professor and very responsive.
I actually adored her. You can tell she really cares and I found the homework and take-home quizzes to be very helpful. The tests were also curved and fair. She will answer any questions and is easily accessible. I really like this class for someone who does not like calc. She makes it fun and she is my favorite teacher I have had at UGA.
Professor Alexeev genuinely cares about her students and always wants what is best for us. You can tell that she really wants us to understand what she is teaching. There are take-home quizzes that are very helpful and the quiz problems usually show up on the test. She also has sample tests which help out alot in preparing for the tests. Take her!
One of my favorite professors this semester, she is very sweet and an excellent teacher. If you pay attention and do the homework properly you should do well in this course.
She is a great teacher, heavy russian accent which can be hard to understand at times but you get used to it. She makes it very easy for you to get a good grade and is very invested in your success. Highly recommended!
Proffesor Alexeev is amazing; she cares about every student and learns everybodys name. Lots of homework but it definitely helps prepare for the tests, which are difficult but fairly graded. Final exam was immensely difficult for some reason, but she didnt make the exam.
The content can vary from easy too hard depending on the student, but she goes way too fast. She expects you to know it after two tries and if you don't she's confused on why you haven't. She takes attendance seriously!! Even if you have an excuse she will not consider it so best you show up. She has a bit of an attitude and she is not compassionat
The teaching is not for students to learn, it is for her to talk at the students. She will rip through an entire chapter in 1-1.5 lectures and she teaches it in a staggered way so quizzes cover material from a week to a week and a half ago. She is not good at instructing and does not know how to instruct others to learn.
It can be hard to understand her at times and she can move pretty fast but as long as you pay attention in class she makes calculus understandable. She writes her in-class problems digitally so if you have an I pad it's really nice to download the pdf and follow along. She also drops multiple grades at the end to help boost your grade.
She is an amazing teacher and person. I can tell she really cares and wants us all to do well in her class. She will always make time to meet with students and is a great option for math2250
Accent is very hard to understand. Final wasn't too bad. Pop quizzes if she doesnt like your class
This woman is my favorite person on this campus. If you talk at all in class and care a little bit, she is super sweet. Decent bit of hw but it does help and the tests look exactly like it and the practice exams. She explains things very clearly and her accent is never an issue. I genuinely love her and even took her Calc 2
I had her Calc 1 and took her again Calc 2. She is great! She is so concise and clear about what she expects and her tests reflect the class notes and hw. She does not try to trick you and gives so much extra credit. She will also post all the notes online but showing up to class is definitely better since Calc 2 is still a hard class
Extremely hard to understand because of her accent. On top of that she is very soft spoken. She gives quizzes on stuff taught that day so if you don't immediately get it your gonna fail the quiz. Most quizzes are pass fail. tests are pretty rough and don't always reflect examples given in class. Her lectures are also extremely fast-paced.
She wasn't great. Highly inconsistent, condescending, and dismissive. There are 3 exams worth 50% of the grade. Will usually curve them after lambasting the class for 30 min. She replaces lowest exam grade with final and curves final too. Exams are much harder than the course content provided. Her explanations are very confusing. Best to avoid.
She is really sweet but has high expectations. Honestly, you get it or you don't. If you fall behind in the beginning it will be extremely hard for the semester. There's an expectation that you practice math every day. The lectures are fast-paced but she has helpful office hours. Lots of quizzes but she'll drop your lowest 2.
This is definitely not an easy class. However, she is very clear on what is going to be on every test. I'd recommend printing the notes beforehand so that you can follow along during class. Our class averages weren't great, but I feel like this is primarily due to people not following along to the notes that she provides online during class.
I loved this prof, she was the best most caring, she has a super rough exterior but don't let it fool you, she is incredible. Never have I had such an incredible teacher for math. Go to her office hours, and you don't need to be a suck (actually don't be a suck up she hated me for that) just try really hard and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Brutal, class average currently is around a 70 every test. Goes a million miles an hour, one of those teachers that expects the students to already know and have mastered the prerequisite. Very demoralizing to be in this class but what can you do.
She is very nice, but tests are tough and the lectures are confusing, and the free tutors do not know how to answer most questions on her practice exams. The class average is normally around a C. If you take this class, use CramBetters videos and practice problems to help you keep up with her lectures. They have already saved my grade in calc 3!
Mandatory attendance and expects your full attention to be on her the entirety of the 1.5 hour class or gets offended. She assigns WAY TOO MUCH hw. I didn't listen in class since she's so hard to follow but I got As on all the tests because I just taught myself based on the sample test she gives us and reading over the notes. Half the class dropped
At first, she may come off as a bit intimidating, but she's really sweet. She gives a lot of work and wants her students to work hard, but on exams, she does grade leniently. There is usually a curve for exams and as the semester progresses, she gives more forgiveness for her tests. Just work hard and you'll be okay.
Professor Alexeev is tough but fair. The class is challenging, but she provides clear guidance and lots of support. Using Unstuck study alongside the course materials really helped with preparing for exams. Definitely go to office hours - she wants you to succeed!
Pretty serious and comes across a little scary at first, but definitely cares about her students. Pretty good lectures and grades tests pretty leniently as the semester progresses. As long as you work hard, do the homework, and study hard for the tests you'll be fine.
A little scary at first, but ngl she's a goat. Idk how she isn't a 5-star. I was told calc II is the hardest calc class, but this class wasn't bad. She grades leniently, gives some extra credit, and explains content well. If you get stuck, watch OCT on YouTube and do the HW. 55% of your grade comes from tests, but lowest gets dropped. W teacher.
Even though this class was a lot of work, I really loved Professor Alexeev. She's a really caring professor, and she knows her stuff. Tests can be scary, but she grades pretty kindly, so that makes up for it. She made a fairly intimidating class a good time, so I would absolutely recommend her.
Great professor, homework is a lot but it reinforces class concepts to help prep for tests. Sample tests aren't technically study guides but they basically are, and any diligence in notetaking + studying should get you >90 on tests (typically generous curves). Made calc II a breeze for me
Dr. Alexeev was a great professor and did a fantastic job teaching the material. The class itself was rather difficult, and there was a lot of homework, but I feel like that's just the nature of calc 2. Extra credit was available for almost all homework, you just had to do it early.
Professor Alexeev is a very fair teacher and I never felt like the grades that I got on my tests were her fault. Her lectures were sometimes hard to follow along to and the content is difficult but it's not impossible to get a good grade in her class because of a tiny mishap because of the amount of extra credit and curbs she has.
The final grade for this class is comprised of 4 exams, the final, and participation/HW. This wouldn't be bad if she gave partial credit, correction, or just any sort of help. The exams DO NOT mirror the practice. IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH EXAMS, SHE IS NOT THE TEACHER FOR YOU, and god forbid you ask for any sort of compassion. Good luck, STAY FAR AWAY.
If you put in the work and show up to class, she's great. Compassionate to those she can see are trying in her class.
She was a great teacher, however sometimes I could not understand because she had an accent. Her exams are doable if you listen in her lectures, most of the questions are like the ones she does in class (sometimes harder). Homework every week, 5 exams without the final. She gives lots of curves, if you do the work and listen, you can get an A
Didn't really follow along with her lectures too well, but if you study outside of class you should be good. Her test reviews are very good for the exams.
The tests are a bit hard compared to other work in class and she's a tough grader BUT will HEAVILY curve a lot of tests, you get a lot of formulas, and at least one problem is normally from classwork or hw. Do homework and review what u did in class and you'll do okay in the class.
tests are 85%, participation is 5%, hw is 10% but if u do them all 3 days ahead of time u can get 10% extra credit for the hw, tests are basically just the study guides even if she says that they arent, but the final exam was nothing like the rest of the class
