REALLY boring class! Teaches from powerpoints but doesnt include all the information you need for quizzes. Make sure you read the chapters in the textbook! No papers or presentations but she gives a quiz once or twice a week. Attendance is counted!
SHE DOEN'T EVEN SLOW DOWN SO YOU CAN TAKE NOTES.YOU MUST READ THE BOOK BEFORE CLASS TO EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT.QUIZ EVERY WEEK.ATTENDANCE COUNTS.TAKE NOTES FROM THE TEXT AND STUDY FROM TEXT AND YOU CAN GET A HARD B.1/2 CLASS FAILED 1ST EXAM.SOMEHOW I MANAGED A B.INFO TOO EXTENSIVE FOR 10
Unlike most people, I like Dr. Fath. She has a great russian accent that is fun to listen to. It keeps me paying attention. If you listen to her lectures and take power notes, you dont really need to go to the book. She isn't always clear when asked questions but for the most part, she a good dr.
she's nice. i like her accent. her lectures are verbatim, so you can get away with reading the text and not going to class. quizzes almost every week. tests are hard, so read read read. lectures are easy because they are powerpoint. unless you can remember every detail in the book, youll get a B.
She is great! Dr. Fath is very down to earth and easy to talk to. She is very helpful in and out of class and is willing to clarify any confusion. Quizzes once a week, 3 exams total. Lectures are verbatim from text. She's a lot of fun; take her!
nice lady but very boring...but its geography so it make sense. shes a little unclear with whats gonna be on her tests but she tries
The most boring professor I have ever had at Towson! She lectures super fast and uses powerpoints to explain everything! She put me to sleep every class! She expects you to know small details for weekley quizzes when you cant even understand half of what s
Perhaps the hardest regional geo class(bi-weekly quizes, hmwk, term paper, & 2 very comprehensive tests)both physical & human geo of region is covered intensley as well as the nitty gritty aspects of the econ geo(bit tedious at times)Nice teacher approachable not always that clear though on what she wants take on a very light semester course load
She is a sweet woman, but she often goes through notes too quickly. She gives weekly quizes, which require some studying if you want to do good. The lowest quiz grade is dropped.Tests can be tricky, they definately require studying of your notes and reading the chapters!!!dont neglect your book, you need it
Easy class if you study, 'nuff said. She gives thorough (and a lot) of notes mainly from Powerpoints like others have said. Some of the material was really boring, but if you study it enough you'll get it. She wants you to do well & will try her best to help you.
Nice lady. Always offering help to those who want it. Accent makes her difficult to understand at times. Powerpoint notes with little added lecture notes.Weekly quizzes, test - study guides, attendance bonus. Studied mostly from notes and used book as reference (definitions on some exams are exact to book ... as well as diagrams/maps).
she was pretty boring, i couldn't stay awake in her classes, pretty easy otherwise.
The most boring class ever! I always struggled to stay awake. Her accent makes it hard to understand her sometimes. But the class was pretty easy otherwise. I only used the book once and that was the atlas. Her tests can be kinda hard but not terrible if you have a basic understanding of geography prior to the class. I wouldn't take her again tho.
Dr. Fath is very fair and really sweet. I did, however, struggle in her class. This is partly because I really just don't understand geography, but I also think that her teaching methods weren't best suited to my type of learning. I found her lectures a bit unorganized and hard to follow, even with power-point. Still, I did fine because I studied.
This class is basically powerpoints so it is easy to follow. She was very sweet and her Russian accent was adorable. There's a quiz every week and the tests were usually difficult. There's never any homework but attendance is mandatory. I highly recommend this class to anyone.
Good Prof. Lots of experience traveling. Slight russian accent, but you get used to it. Can be dismissive of ideas she doesn't know/understand. Tests are easy. Use textbook study guides/questions from online. She often takes questions straight from online quizzes. I have had two classes with her, and both were good.
Boring material, but you can tell she loves it. Her accent takes getting used to. Powerpoints every class, quizzes every Monday. I recommend using the book to study for tests (hard parts) in addition to notes. Class always lasts full period. Encourages class particp. but never seems to like the answers she gets. If you can, take someone else.
This teacher is terrible. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN HELP IT !!!! Has a horrible teaching method.
A little bit hard to understand at first but you get used to the accent. You need to take good notes off the powerpoints because you have atleast one quiz a week. Never completely accepts answers, they never seem to be good enough. Ok teacher but boring class
Dr. Fath is very knowledgeable about the different aspects of geography however the amount of evaluations is overwhelming. There is a quiz every week and this class will consume a large amount of time should you have a low interest in the topic like myself. Her teaching method is so poor, you should definitely purchase the book for reference.
She is a horrible teacher. Makes you feel stupid if you raise your hand with the wrong answer. Definitely has her favorites. The only good thing about this class is that there are a lot of grades (quizzes). I don't believe anything she says either. Don't take her if you can help it.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. ACCENT WAS HORRIBLE, TEACHING STYLE HORRIBLE. GOT A D+ IN HER CLASS. SHE NEVER HELPED. DIDNT DESERVE TO BE A TEACHER. EXAMS WERE RIDICULOUSLY HARD. DONT EVER TAKE HER
HORRIBLE TEACHER! don't take her! she doesnt help you, she makes fun of you for wrong answers and overall just makes you feel stupid.
Definitly read the book! I found the class to be extremely boring and notes were completely off of powerpoint. Not a lot of class interaction. Has favorites :( You DO get a lot of grades because she does give a lot of quizzes in class. However, the tests weren't always about things covered in class. She gave too much info all at once.
She is a tough teacher. If you have to take her don't worry because she will try to help you out. The quizzes and tests tend to be a little hard. She wants you to read, but you don't really have to. She tends to put people down, but is overall a nice person.
BORING!!!!!! She requires that you attend every class. There is a quiz every week. She definitely has favorites and it is very obvious. I would never recommend her class. Definitely choose a different global awareness class if you can.
Sometimes unclear of what she expects on assignments but helpful and knowledgeable. Easy grader, tests were mostly multiple choice with some short answer and essays.
Save your GPA and sanity by not taking this class. Worst teacher i have ever had... by a longshot. Doesn't care about her students. Doesn't want them to do well. Trust me just get as far away as you can.
Unless you are genuinely interested in the topic do not take this class. She doesn't make the class interesting at all. Attending class is not enjoyable and she barely does anything to help you for your assignments if you need it.
Must go to her class and it is sometimes boring, but she makes it easy and clear of what she is going to test on. She is very nice, easy to get ahold of, and tries to work with you to make things clear. fair grader and also gives extra credit.
I am interested in Green Eating, so I liked this class. Dr. Fath isn't easy, so if you're looking for an easy A you're not going to find it. You have to put in effort. But she is very knowledgable and cares about her subject. I found her to be a great professor.
this is only a gen-ed and it was my hardest class. her tests are ridiculous. 100 questions, half which are fill in the blank. if you're truly interested and good at memorizing, go for it. she offers some extra credit, though it doesn't help if you bomb the tests. quizzes all the time. online work. hard grader.
do not take this with her. she is a horrible grader. She's a tough grader, mocks students, and questions you about everything. During presentations she will make sure to ask you the most confusing questions and then give you a weird look when you don't know the answer. Save yourself from this professor, do not take it
Dr. Fath is an extremely tough teacher for a seminar class. She does play favorites when it comes to grading but if you at least pretend you're interested in the topic and raise your hand, you will be ok. Certainly don't take it if you are looking for an easy A, it takes work to get an A with her.
I enjoyed her class. She seems very nice and acts like she enjoys teaching. She definitely knows the material very well. Study hard for exams, and take good notes in class. There is a lot of material to learn but it's managable. Also, most friday classes are cancelled
I would honestly stay away from Fath,if possible. She is one of the most biased professors out there. If she doesn't agree with what you say, she will mark off points. If she doesn't understand what you write she marks it unclear and doesn't explain why. Tough grader for no reason at all. Is passionate about her work but not worth it!
She has a Russian accent which may be a barrier to some. Her class was very informative. Tests were manageable with studying the night before. She reads off powerpoint slides but if you read the textbook classes are more like review.
I took this course because my adviser told me too and said that it was a very interesting topic. Then first day of class I met Mrs. Fath, the teacher that will shape of what I don't want in a teacher for the rest of my college career. This is supposed to be a discussion based course about a topic. She is very strict and uncaring about her students.
This teacher is mean. If she doesn't agree with you are doesn't understand your points, she'll give you a bad grade. She has a Russian accent, so it's hard to understand her at times. She does not help you at all with assignments. She uses a book, but doesn't even need it. I recommend to stay away from her period.
This professor obviously didn't care for her students, the subject, or teaching in general. She was rude, cut students off and hated answering questions. Her Russian accent wasn't a problem but her attitude was. Which was unfortunate because the topic was rather interesting. I have never been so frustrated in a class before Fath came along.
She's a super tough grader and you really have to ask for help. Her accent is manageable. She focuses on the topic more than actually learning how to format, write a real research paper etc.
Never been so happy to leave such a bad review for a professor. She is mean, strict, grades really tough & at times even rude to students when they don't answer her questions correctly. She doesn't care about helping students, she just tells them to "look it up". I would not recommend taking any of her classes at all. Avoid her at all costs.
Honestly, she's probably the toughest grader that I've ever encountered. You won't learn how to write a research paper either. She cares more about the actual topic rather than you learning about how to correctly write a paper. Don't take her. Drop her if you have her. Somehow i managed to get a C in the class
Worst teacher I have EVER had. Please for your sake, avoid having her as a professor at all costs. She is rude, extremely disrespectful, and makes her classroom a terrible learning environment. Very hard grader, yet can barely speak or write english.
Do not take early mornings because her accent will be irritating. Green Eating in a Blue Planet was not as interesting as i had thought. The class was not awful though. If you put in the effort, she will reward you. That was my mistake. I switched to PF because I couldn't get anything right.. Ended up w an A on the final paper. Learning experienc
Okay professor. She was a little rude when asked for help. She sometimes seemed like she didn't want to be there, and talked to students like they were stupid. Avoid at all costs
She criticizes you a lot. If you do not answer the way she wants, you're wrong and she makes rude faces and comments when you participate. It is a TSEM class and you don't know what she expects from you. I just wouldn't recommend taking this class for a TSEM there are way better teachers who don't make you feel bad and interesting topics.
Attendence is mandatory because apparently a relative passing is not a acceptable reason for missing a class, also her grading on the final paper and presentation is some of the harshest grading I have ever seen
She can be really rude and sarcastic. She called me out in class for no reason. She is a really harsh grader, and quizzes are tough even if you study. She has a thick accent and sometimes can be hard to understand.
Her grading is ridiculous , if you don't write exactly what she wants she will give you a ZERO with no remorse. Hardest and worst teacher I have ever had for a 100 level course.
Shocked by the fact that every comment on this website is completely accurate. Grading is very tough, I've never had someone who grades so tough. Pay attention to the most trivial facts to the most trivial things because they will be on the test.
Natasha is just an overall miserable person, who the hell knows why she has such a poor attitude, but she takes it out on her students which ultimately makes taking any of her classes absolutely miserable! This horrible woman never ever should have become a teacher because shes TERRIBLE! Absolutely the worst teacher I have EVER had! Disgusting.
Green Eating on a Blue Planet is an interesting TSEM. Dr. Fath is a great professor, but expects you to know how to write a paper, which some people do not know how to do. Minimal reading but theres single question quizzes on them frequently. Write an 8 page paper on a topic of your choice at the end. Extremely willing to help you with your paper.
Very tough grader and expects you to know how to do somethings without being taught. A couple quizzes and tests with a huge research paper at the end of the semester. Refer to Library help and or writing center if having problems
Dr. Fath is generally a good teacher and seems to be knowledgeable on the topic of "Green Eating on a Blue Planet" but she makes you feel dumb. On the off chance you raise your hand to answer a question you can almost never be correct. She also takes off a lot of points for small mistakes, so you have to be really careful with assignments.
She's definitely knowledgeable about the topic she teaches, but she's very unclear. Very tough grader, will take off a lot of points for just tiny mistakes. If you do actually raise your hand in this class, she will find a way to make your answer wrong. She's very rude also. I would say pick another TSEM if you can.
Not the worst but take another if you can. I was very interested in the topic beforehand but still could not get interested in the class at all.
She's a very nice lady and performs her job to the best of her ability. English isn't her first language, and this causes some unclear communication with her students. The tests and quizzes are relatively difficult if you're a non-science major. Be sure to read the textbook thoroughly before each quiz or you WILL perform terrible on the quizzes.
She treats this 101 class like a level 400 class... the tests are insane and she grades everything insanely hard. A thing that bugged me is that when she assigns online quizzes, you only have your class time to do it, you don't have until the end of the day to do it like most teachers allow. Do NOT take a class with Fath. Worst decision I've made.
A lot of the reviews on here are really harsh... Dr. Fath is a very knowledgable woman but lacks organization and structure. By the end of the semester we had three projects due at once and no one really knew what was going on. She is funny and polite, and always gave me advice/help when I asked. Participation definitely matters!!!
Do not take this Tsem. Dr. Fath made this class nearly impossible. She is very rude and makes you feel worthless and stupid. You could quote something directly from a book and she will some how say it is wrong. No answer is ever good enough. She is a hard grade and takes points off for everything. I received a B but worked insanely hard to get it.
this class is not an easy A... she makes you work for it especially since it's an upper level course. Lots of work and projects. she expects you to participate and keeps track of it as well as attendance. keep up with readings. she is always willing to help and responds quickly to emails. content of class was interesting! really hated BOP project
Everyone on here is being so mean and dramatic. In my class, she has not made students feel stupid when they get something wrong (like a lot of people said she does), she actually helps you work to get the correct answer. You don't have to buy the book because there is an online version she posts onto blackboard. Do the readings though!
She isn't an awful professor but you really have to work for your grade. Puts students on he spot repetitively and goes out of her way to make you look stupid. Be aware of her, avoid her if possible.
Professor Fath's class was awful. Not a lot of writing but she is an extremely tough grader and does not care to offer help. Would not recommend her class to anybody
Interesting info during lectures, grading criteria is never clear, extremely tough grader, need the textbook, participation is a big part of your grade
Very knowledgeable, but the content is extremely boring. Very tough grader. Study guides Dont really help. She isn't too bad, but I wouldn't take her again.
Dr. Fath is a knowledgable professor who cares about her students as well as teaching. Though some seem to think she is cold toward her students I think it is more of a cultural thing--she is rather pleasant to anyone who participates and comes to class prepared and ready to learn. I recommend taking any course she teaches, you'll learn a lot!
Dr. Fath is a knowledgable professor and teaches an interesting TSEM topic, however she grades the class like an upper level course. A paper that should have been an easy A was graded harder than some of my 300 level courses.
She makes participation a grade, then will somehow tell you your answer is wrong, even if it's right. She grades ridiculously hard on stupid things like movie worksheets. She takes off points for not answering the question the way she wants, even if it's not listed in the question. Will never give you a straight answer on anything.
Shes a tough grader and you honestly never know what she wants you to know. READ READ READ the textbook (even though she says it goes into more detail than you need to know but then again the study guides dont really help. Tried reaching out to her and she told me that shouldnt be struggling with it so it was of no help. wouldnt want her again.
Professor Fath is very knowledgeable in world geography. However, she is a tough grader on everything. Her quizzes/exams often have extremely specific (and pointless) questions that are random facts you would never think to study. Her course is a lot of info from a lot of different sources which makes it hard to study effectively. does give EC
Natalia Fath is probably the most arrogant of teachers I have had, when doing research she only accepts scholarly information, but claims the NY Times is reliable. The class is an easy B if you try, but she is so rude all the time. The 8 page final paper is nothing as bad as some of the other TSEM classes at towson. ok class but awful teacher.
Has a lot of knowledge of Geography but will expect you to learn it all as well. Be ready for vague study guides that will barely help you, and be ready to learn very small and tedious details.
Natalia Fath is a terrible professor she is so rude when you ask her questions she never fully answers them. We had to do a rough draft for our paper and she told 1 of my friends why are you writing. You spend the whole semester being confused because of her. She gives do much work and not enough time to do them.
Dr. Fath was rude and disrespectful to all students in her class. If she didn't agree with something said in class she would contradict it and at the same time try to make you look stupid in front of the entire class even if it's your opinion. If you asked a question she would snap in a very disrespectful tone and give attitude.
The worst professor in Towson. Way too much reading, too many journals due in one week, did not teach anything on how to write. Hard to understand, a horrible grader, doesn't give grades on how well you did, grades on if she likes you or not. You better show up to class or you won't do well. Never gives A's. Generally too much work for a TSEM class
She talks too much and the class work is pointless. Assigns a research paper but makes us read articles and readings that have nothing to do with our assignment. That time could be used for writing our paper and carrying out the research. Don't take the class because you'll end up doing busy wor
Her tests are almost impossible to study for since the information on it are small details about things not discussed in class. If you reach out for help, she will just tell you to read the textbook and steer away from what your actual question is. Get ready to take a bunch of notes during lecture, she packs in a lot of information.
She assigns reading every single class except when you watch a documentary (which is only 2 time throughout the semester). Doesn't give enough or little to any notice about when assignments are due. Even when your rubric for you paper is due she still assigns readings to discuss. She is a very hard grader. Doesn't explain directions well at all.
She seems like a nice person but her feedback is rude and not helpful. A common phrase used by her is, "Good effort, but." and then doesn't give you suggestions on how to improve. There is a lot of busy work in this class and I feel that I didn't learn how to write or do research any better. The topic was interesting but she made me dread the class
I do not suggest anyone to take this professor. She is very rude and degrading. I have always gotten A's in class and had a good relationship with my teachers but she makes it very hard. She gives a lot of work that does not even apply to the course. She is a very harsh grader. I always felt she was judging me and was never comfortable in class.
Professor was very interested in her field and therefore the class was interesting. I loved her passion and enthusiasm for the material. There's a lot of memorizing countries and places but it is broken up in a helpful way.
Readings as hw are easy. Take notes on them bc she will randomly check and grade you on them. Movies and readings are so interesting. Discussions in class are easy because you just have to give your opinion. Easy A up until the 8 page final (not horrible compared to other tsem classes). 2 field trips, 1 interesting, 1 kinda boring
Book? Useless. Exams? VERY specific and petty questions that no one knows the answer to. I compared exam 1 scores with other classmates and nearly everyone failed. Ego? High. Class atmosphere? Makes students feel dumb. Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor. Take the course with Dr. Roberge!! You're gonna HARDCORE struggle by taking Dr. Fath.
TAKE THE FIELD TRIP. You will get so much more out of the class and she will really appreciate the time you took out of your semester. Definitely an unforgettable weekend. In class, her lectures are kind of dry and seem a little rehearsed. Tests are rather difficult. Overall a caring professor if you put in the effort. Definitely recommend.
She makes you read a lot of material and sometimes gives work to go a long with it. Dicussion heavy so make sure you participate if you don't she'll make sure you know you don't. You take a couple of field trips which are fun and watch a couple movies. She is a tough grader. If you don't like climate change or agriculture don't take class.
Had her for TSEM and it wasnt too hard, but NOT an easy A. She is very rude, and unhelpful. If you ask questions or email her she doesnt answer your question and just makes you feel bad about yourself. Class requires a lot of participation but i didnt buy the books and was fine for the most part - can find online.
Fath is the worst professor I have taken so far at Towson University. My econ, and even my chemistry class with Bushey have been less difficult than her petty geo class, so that tells you how poor her teaching is. She insensitively gives little to no time on assignments, and the questions are impossible to prepare for. DON'T TAKE HER.
Taken online during COVID. Tough grading, confusing feedback. RUDE questions/feedback in front of the entire class after presentations. I don't think the actual workload is any worse than any other TSEM class. Good luck trying to get a word in on zoom - talks over you and cuts you off (after asking for students to participate).
AVOID HAVING THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!!!! Rudest professor ever. I swear every time I had to do an assignment for this class it would ruin my entire week just thinking about it because the awful grades she would give out even though you are absolutely trying your hardest and are usually a very good student.
I had her for TSEM and really enjoyed it. I would say only take if you're interested in the topic of the class and are willing to participate a lot though. I felt her grading was fair and she gave a lot of helpful feedback on the final paper.
Very rude. I do not think her intentions were to be rude; however, she would ask unfair questions and make you feel dumb if she called on you or you were presenting. Easy class. I did not go to any zoom classes because I did not like her but still got a good grade.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. If you love reading for hours on end this class is for you. All homework and tests are straight out of the textbook. She doesn't really answer questions or teach any new info during lectures so they were useless. Unfortunately, she does take attendance. Quizlet worked wonders :)
i honestly can't agree with any of the other reviews about her, she was quite the opposite in my experience. very nice and shared photos and stories of her many traveling trips. the lectures could be boring at times and she always took attendance, but overall she was very nice and accessible! i plan to take another class with her
A pretty nice professor. Workload wasnt too crazy for an upper level course. Readings were pretty long sometimes but you can mostly skim and get the same info out of it. The only issue was that the tests felt pretty random (as in some of the questions were small side information from the lecture that you wouldn't expect to be on the test).
This was the hardest class i have ever taken at towson. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. YOU WILL FAIL
This class was absolutely terrible, and my mental health was literally destroyed from this short online class. In my 22 years of life I have never taken a more difficult class. I warn everybody to STAY AWAY
Definitely lots of reading. Homework is very easy if you do the smart-book assignments first. Tests are somewhat challenging but nothing crazy. Not sure what her in person class is like but her online class is interesting and easy. Definitely would take if you need a core 7/8.
I took online Geog, no one participated so it definitely made the class way worse. It felt like she was pulling teeth trying to get students involved. This was not entirely her fault. Other than that the way she taught was not bad. The exams are pretty difficult and went of the book not really the lectures.
She was such a good grader. You knew what to expect for exams. SO passionate about what she taught and it wasn't boring. Super easy would take her again
Very boring lectures and the professor has a heavy accent. The homework is very time consuming but is consistent and due every Sunday night. Study hard for exams! The in-person portion of every exam is important to your grade and won't always follow the study guide. Do the extra credit reading quizzes! Take good notes, you will need them!
Professor Fath is really sweet. Class isn't the most interesting thing in the world but she is very passionate and will answer in detail any questions you have. Lots of opportunity for extra credit and she is a very fair grader. About 8 hours of homework a week. That being said the tests are no joke, study up!
If you're looking for an easy science core, this one's a good option. hw is posted online on Mondays and is due Sunday so there's plenty of time to work on them. She also gives weekly extra credit and study guides for the tests. she does take attendance every class and is a bit hard to reach outside of class. overall not too hard just lots of hw
All of the work was mcgraw work which is annoying. Lecture heavy with a couple in class assignments, and exams were hard ngl. She was really sweet and passionate about her topic though which is nice.
Very sarcastic when you ask for help, just reads off of slides, and gives terrible lectures learning-wise. Assigns 1 hw assignment a week due on Sunday but is about 80 questions. Overall, I wouldn't take her if you don't have to.
The course was homework heavy and most of the assignments were on Achieve/McGraw-Hill platforms, lots of weekly assignments, but manageable. I was confused on the grading criteria and I do wish grades were updated frequently throughout the semester. Dr. Fath was easy to talk to and accessible mainly via email. Would take her again!
Every week there is a Magraw hill Smartbook, a homework, and an optional reading quiz but she uses those for extra credit so i recommend to still do them even though they are optional. She posted announcements every week of what that week was going to look like and overall this class was really chill but you definitely gotta stay on top of the hw.
Great professor and trips were great! It does take hurt to get on her good side and its best for the class when people are enjoying it.
