I have never met an English instructor who is so passionate about literature. Watching her teach this course kept me really motivated. This class was really fun too! I would definitely recommend this course with this instructor.

Best teacher in the west!!!!!!!

I took African American Literature with her and absolutely loved it. She is my favorite teacher of all Foothill College teachers. I would recommend her with all my heart. She is a very fair grader and very prepared when comes to class material.

Excellent teacher. Very well prepared and I love the fact that she is so passionate about what she teaches. This is one class and one teacher I will definately miss. I wish I had taken her for English 1A.

Truly one of my favorite teachers at Foothill. Rarely am I able to find a teacher who loves what their teaching, and really loves it when students are learning. I wish I had the chance to take more classes with her. If you can, take any English class with her, her English sections fill up fast.

Mrs. Menendez's class is not difficult, has minimal homework and helpful classwork and she is such a caring, genuine person. I had her almost 2 yrs ago and when I see her in the halls at Foothill she still remembers my name and is sure to ask how I am doing. Anyone who is lucky enough to have should be grateful. She is amazing.

I loved this class. You have to attend each class since there is so much to cover and so little time. I loved that you were able to rewrite stuff, it probably made my grade from a B to a A

I LOVED THIS WOMAN. She truly cares about her students and her work. She was so amazing she motivated me to get grades and back into the swing of things. I got an A in this class and made me feel really smart about all my ideas. She calls on people randomly which i hate but whenever i answered her she made me feel extremely confident! loved her!

I really enjoyed this teacher. She was sweet and really appreciated students. I thought the work was really interesting and not too much, but don't be late or she kind of starts ignoring you. She was a great teacher! Awesome woman I would take her again, she had great advice.

Mrs. Menendez is one of my favorite teachers of all time. She makes English interesting and as long as you do the minimal homework she gives you, you will do great in the class. She respects your opinions and genuinly loves teaching. I was very lucky to have such an awesome teacher

This professor has made the absolute biggest impact in my life,I ended up taking five English classes with her the two years I was @ Foothill. She pushes you like no other, is encouraging and avaialble, & is by far the best English professor @ Foothill. She has very little tolerance for tardiness and abscences so anticipate going to class PREPARED!

The Best teacher, hands down period end of story. if you hate English she teaches it in a way that you will love it, she is also a very good person and cares for her students.

This is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I thought I was horrible in English and hated everything about it, but after taking her class it completely changed my outlook. I never missed a class! She gives homework every night but its really easy and you are most likely going to get full credit! Definately reccommend her!

i placed in the English 110 class after taking the placement test. i thought i would been thrown into college level writing and wouldn't be able to catch up fast enough. her grading method it honest and helpful. if you read her notes and follow her advice you can't get anything lower then a B. plus she is good at returning phone calls and emails.

She is very nice and helpful! Very easy to talk to and get help if needed! Very specific on what she wants, but if you follow directions, most likely to get a good grade! HW every night but is not busy work. Everything she assigns helps your writing and reading skills! Great teacher! Great personality!

Amazing teacher! She is very passionate and cares about your well-being. She explains everything in full detail and wants you to be "greedy with points". I loved taking her class! I usually never speak out or say anything during discussions but Mrs.Menendez broke that shell because of the vibe she gives. Highly highly recommended teacher!

She is kind, friendly, and willing to help every student in the class. Even though I am shy and struggles to answer questions in front of class, she is patient and gives you time to answer. By end of the quarter, I was comfortable to answer questions whenever she called on me! I highly recommend her! :)

I took her class for both English 209/110. She is the best English teacher I have taken! She makes sure all her students are on the same page and doesn't leave anyone behind! I attended Foothill College in 2000 as an international student and took an English course taught by Prof Menendez. She inspired me in many ways and truly taught me that I could make an impact through my words and my writing. More importantly, she encouraged me to overcome my shyness and helped me to be more verbally expressive and confident.

I took Natalia Menendez for English 1S and 242A at Foothill College. Ms. Menendez is absolutely passionate about what she does and stay true to her values, which is admirable. She is very clear and helpful but you need to put effort because she's a tough grader.

Ms. Menendez is just flat out amazing. If you ever need help she is there for you and offers you to go to her office hours for more help. She really enjoys what she does and really gets into what she is teaching and you could easily tell by her lectures. I would recommend her to everyone. Will give you the grade you deserve so you'll have to work.

Mrs. Menendez was really helpful and was always ready to assist any of the students whenever they needed it. She gave great feedback in each of the three essays as well as the other assignments and really wants the students to become much better writers. The resources and lessons that she provided were very clear and I enjoyed the class overall!

The novels that she chose were interesting. Lots of slavery stuff though. The work is pretty straightforward. Doing the discussions helps a lot with the essays. Her essay prompts are rather broad. I'd recommend asking her questions about the essays to help with specificity. Great class overall.

Professor Menendez is one of the best professors overall at Foothill College! She's truly such an inspirational. She's a hard grader but she gives you really good feedback and the grade you truly deserve. I would definitely take her class again. Honestly the best teacher I've ever had. I've always done well in English, but she challenged me and helped me strengthen my writing. The class involves a lot of work and reading but she's an honest grader and works with you every step of the way. She also gives really constructive feedback on all writing assignments.

Natalia is a great professor she is really passionate about the stuff she teach. in her course you facing real life problems and learn some solutions. The class include a lot of homework assignments, for basally every lecture day. She is really willing to help if asked for recommended course but be ready to work everyday.

She is so bubbly and nice! In my opinion, she was an easy grader. However I did find it to be a lot of homework, but nothing extremely hard. I would definitely take her again.

Professor Menendez was really helpful in guiding her students in skill building to be better tutors; everything she taught was really useful, and her handouts were a godsend on the job. The homework is easy, but the more you try with it the better. The class size is so small that she gets to know you on a personal level.

I took Ms. Menendez class Winter 2020 (English 1B). There was a lot of work (and she DOES check for it), but I would definitely take her class again. She is very caring, and passionate about teaching. I highly recommend taking one of her classes.

I loved this class! She gives extremely clear, step by step instructions on how to write the papers (make sure you read the modules, all the information you need is there). The prompts were very interesting, as well. We had a course reader, and a few books; they were pretty easy to get through. I was able to balance this class with a math class.

I had the pleasure of being in Ms. Menendez' first quarter teaching in 92 and was my favorite professor ever, any subject. She pushed all of us to dig deeper for meaning and had a gift for teaching persuasive writing. The reading material was well-curated, the discussions NEVER boring, and her passion infectious. I took Professor Menendez's class in Fall 2021. I was skeptical at first, but I'm so glad I took her class since I learned so much and because she spent time with me to help me become a better reader and writer.

English 16 was one of the best classes I've taken at Foothill. You read multiple types of literature - poetry, plays, novels), and discuss them: it was really fun. Read her modules, they are there to help you! Also, I felt the teacher was readily available outside of class for help. Only one major essay, the rest are discussions. Take this course!

Professor Menendez was pretty good! Her English16 class was hard, no doubt, with assignments on the longer side but as long as you follow the prompt, you're likely to get 100% on the assignments. The essays are also long and complicated, but she is there to help you out. You read lots of poems and learn to write your own poem. Hard, but kind prof!

Tremendous and always helpful. They were always wanting students to learn and achieve their goals. I only had her for tutoring prep class, could see the impact the students I worked with had from her other classes. They helped me with my college applications and was a wonderful and caring teacher overall. She truly cares about her job and students.

Class was pretty easy. Some of the organization makes no sense, you have look in previous weeks for the current weeks resources, but you get used to looking everywhere. She breaks down essays a lot making the writing process very easy , but can be restrictive. 3 essays and a final reflection essay. Very willing to clarify or help on assignments.

This class was super easy. The organization was very confusing in the beginning as she had the material for the current assignments in the previous week. However, once you figure that out it's fine. She did not grade too harshly and made it clear what she wanted to see in the essays.

This class had a lot of material to get through in a short amount of time. Prof. Menendez did a great job of pacing the class. Expect to read a lot. The class was interesting and encouraged critical thinking. Very helpful and direct feedback. I left the class loving poetry, which I previously hated.

I loved taking ENGL 16. No extra credit, but she left great feedback and was ready to help with any questions/concerns I loved the readings so much Class is really organized and paced well Short stories, a novel, play, and poetry. Follow her rules on essays. Suggest reading the longer works (novel and play) before quarter starts if possible.

This class is amazing!The negative reviews are misleading & 100% fake. The instructor is incredibly knowledgeable, the material is well-organized, and the entire experience is both engaging and rewarding.The claims that the final & stuff is suddenly timed, in-person, or that the format was drastically changed is simply false. She is a very helpful and kind professor. she would love to show support to every students in her class. Her homework grading is tough because you can't just simply finished the homework but you have to finish it with quality. Importantly, she gives good feedback.

I honestly loved Natalia. She genuinely seems like she cares about students and takes time to help out and adjust her time frame to help you. She is very passionate about her job which I can admire, and even though I only reached out to her a couple times through the whole quarter, she was always very kind and got to know me. Grades fairly.
