very boring!
This Class is easy compared to 229 like put you to sleep easy
Great teacher! Since it's a weed out class it is very challenging as well...
She's a good teacher and is enthusiastic about what she teaches. She's also very amicable. The class isn't too terribly difficult if you attend class.
Very nice teacher. Need to attend class and keep up with homework to be successful. Tests fall on same schedule as several other classes. Hard to find time to study for all.
Great teacher, Smoking hot lol, but for real she is a great prof, who cares about her students success
Nice teacher; explains things well. Class is set up strange -you only go to lecture once a week and then you do a bunch of online work outside of class, which I hated. Overall a fairly easy class, tests get progressively harder through the semester so try to do especially good on the first few tests. Doing the recommended homework was helpful.
This was a tough class for me, mainly because I don't like how we only have one class a week then everything else online. You HAVE to study for this class, I haven't made above a 70 on an exam because I keep assuming they'll be easy to wing and they're not! Keep up with the lecture videos and online hw and you should be fine! She's a great prof.
This is a hybrid class so you go to class 1 day a week and watch videos to learn the rest of the material. Homework isn't bad if you stay on top of it, but exams can be difficult. Grades are weighted in your favor: I made 2 B's and 1 A on the exams and only need an 86 on the final for an A in the class.
Accounting 230 is a very doable class and Allen adds an element of fun that definitely isn't there otherwise. While it is challenging everything you need to learn is very clearly outlined for you. Ms. Allen definitely makes the class better!
There were 3 exams and a final. The class was blended, so we only met once a week. Natalie Allen cares about the students, and she doesn't make the material or tests too complicated. This class is way easier than ACCT 229. She grades everything quickly. The final was hard though. You don't need to read the textbook.
The class is not difficult at all compared to 229, but her lectures are beyond boring. Her voice is very monotonous, which makes it very difficult to pay attention to the dull material for over an hour.
Professor Allen is so sweet! She is clear and provides students with all the information they need to do well in the class. Only meeting once a week is nice and she usually lets you out early! She goes slowly and makes sure everyone understands. Easy class if you do the work
She's currently the only professor for 230. She is one of the sweetest people ever, and she really cares about her students. But, you can skip her lectures and be in the same boat as if you went to class, they don't really make sense. Do practice problems to do well. Help desk and office hours aren't that beneficial. She wants you to succeed.
Allen was a really sweet professor. Material was not too hard. Class was only once a week with online homework and learning units. Very manageable but sometimes forgot about the class since it was only once a week. Be sure to stay on top of assignments and not wait until the last minute to study. She is very willing to help you when you need.
Professor Allen was amazing!! She is very thorough with her lectures and makes sure her students understand the material. She doesn't try to trick you and is straight forward on what she wants you to know for tests. Give yourself enough time to do the homework, but overall she was great!
I loved the hybrid structure of this class - it made it more hands on and easier to learn. Allen is a great professor! The class is very straightforward - just do the practice problems and memorize formulas before exams and you'll be good.
She is a great professor and her lectures are valuable to the content. This class was half-online. Homework is an easy 100 that counts as much as a test at the end of the semester to help your grade. I struggled because I'm not good at accounting, but I was still able to enjoy the class. I would recommend her class.
I loved Allen. She was so sweet and kind. She obviously put a lot of work into her hybrid class and has a very organized system for you to learn. If you do what you are supposed to, you'll learn. It's a relief compared to 229. I felt like I actually understood this class. Makes me want to get my CMA! Homework isn't bad & tests are fair.
She has a great hybrid class system. Do what she asks and clearly lays out for you and you'll do good in the class. MC Tests and online hmwk were both clear. In class is kind of boring, but go to listen to her in class notes.
10x easier than ACCT229! Definitely still have to work for your grade, but not as difficult. Allen is so caring and understanding and wants to help. Getting a 100 homework average acts as a big curve since the rest of the grades come from tests. She provides sample test questions to help you prepare for the exams. The hybrid structure worked well!
I liked the course's set up and program we used for homework. She is also very sweet and helpful. I failed the 1st test, but got As on the rest b/c I started to do all practice homework, and work out all sample exams before tests. If you do that and all your homework you will get an A.
If youve made it through 229, which you should if youre in 230.. you can do 230 with ease. Much easier than financial accounting, and requires less time. However, dont let the tests sneak up on you. Do the homework, which has unlimited attempts, and all sample exam questions before each exam and you should be fine. Great professor.
ppl say its easy, it is not; compared to 229 yeah its easier, but u do have to study hard and work for this, have to memorize formulas, homework is sooo easy, unlimited tries, grade based on 3 exams, homework, and final. final is easier but has formulas u needa memorize, class homework takes like 2-3 hours per homework, made an A in 229,c in here
This class was MUCH better than 229. The material is very straightforward and as long as you pay attention and do the homework you'll be fine. Do the practice exams too to do even better. The homework is all online and allows multiple attempts, so that should boost your grade. Overall, not a horrible class. And Allen really knows accounting.
Allen is a great professor, 230 is way more straight forward than 229. You need to go to class to fill in the lecture notes, and homework is online. Pretty fair tests, not too bad.
Natalie Allen is a really sweet lady and a lot of people like her teaching style, but it wasn't my favorite. I loved 229 and got an A in that class, but I struggled to hold on to my B in this one. I think I just really hated the subject matter. Make sure to do all the homework and do it early so you can get full credit - it counts as a test grade.
This class isnt difficult if you do the online homework (which is very good practice) and take notes in class. Sometimes it was difficult keeping up with her fast lectures, but other than that she was fun and wanted us to pass.
Allen has been my favorite professor at TAMU so far! She is extremely caring about her students and wants them to succeed and understand! Tests arent too difficult and the homework is completion (which is really helpful because they add up to equal a test grade). Way better than 229, she is AMAZING!
Allen is a solid prof and really knows her stuff. 230 is significantly easier than 229, but you definitely still have to work for it. I still studied a lot (not near as much as 229 though) and got a B, same grade as in 229. Homework is basically just a completion grade that adds up to be equal to an exam which is super helpful. Study sample exams!
Prof. Allen is great. Her lectures and notes were easy to follow and understand, and the online homework is really helpful for getting an opportunity to make sure you understand the material. Just be careful to attend class and not fall behind on the homework, and you'll probably feel a lot better about 230 than 229.
Here is an honest, unbiased review. The class is not terrible. Allen does teach in a way that is somewhat dry. If you are good at accounting, you should be fine in this class. I'm slightly below average at accounting and I should get either a high C or a low B if I'm lucky. If you are anything other than an accounting major this class is useful
This class is not as difficult as 229. That doesn't mean you shouldn't study just as much. Most of the time I found it difficult to pay attention during her lectures, but if you go home read your notes and do the homework it's not that bad. Work the sample exams and practice problems before exams, and read your notes for theory qs.
Professor Allen really tries to make this boring class fun. She is really nice and really cares about her students learning the information. The class is not super hard, you just have to take the time to learn the material. Her lectures are super boring though, but she tries to make them fun.
Mrs. Allen is truly one of the best profs I've had at TAMU. She has a ton of knowledge and loves teaching the course (and has been doing so for 30+ years). Easier than 229, but you still have to work for it. Virtual Friday assignments really help and are a grade booster.
Amazing professor. Clearly explains accounting concepts methodically. I despise accounting but she made this class very clear cut. Test reviews are virtually the exam itself so you know exactly what you are getting. Exams are friendly; sometimes I would get an answer and the answer choice wouldnt be there so I would retry and get it correct.
There are a lot of homework assignments for this class, but they are easy A's and don't take too long usually. You have to work for the grade but Natalie Allen is the one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. It's not mandatory to go to class, but I would definitely go because it will help you get a better grade.
Class isn't crazy difficult. Memorize all the formulas for the tests and you should be fine.
Professor Allen was an awesome professor! While managerial accounting is not particularly fun in my opinion, she did a really good job trying to engage everyone and encourage questions. There are several homework assignments due every week, but they do not take too long, and you can redo do them to get your desired grade. Exams are not too bad.
Professor Allen is very nice and helpful in her office hours. This class is definitely easier than 229 but you still have to study a great deal and do all the homework. This class is partly online which I personally didn't like but just don't fall behind and you should be fine.
This class is straightforward and doable. If you don't take time to learn the material, you won't magically get an A, but if you put in the necessary work it is attainable. I recommend reading through your notes after each class, doing the practice assignments, and doing the available practice exams before each test.
Professor Allen explains everything very thoroughly and goes through lots of examples in the notes and has extra videos with more examples online. You only have to buy the textbook to have access to the place where you will do the online homework.
Professor Allen is the sweetest lady in the world!! She made expectations for the class very clear. She isn't one of those professors that wants to see students fail AT ALL, she is the exact opposite. Definitely take her if you get the chance
Professor Allen is so sweet! There's quite a bit of homework, but you get unlimited attempts. Her lecture notes are very reasonable -- simple and straightforward, with not much fluff. The exams are all pretty simple if you do a decent amount of studying. Compared to 229, this class is a breeze & takes about half the effort (or less). Take Allen!
Prof Allen was a little boring in her lectures, but that is solely due to the dry nature of the content. She does her best to make it interesting, and it is quite a bit easier than acct 229. There is quite a bit of online homework. Stay ahead on that, go to class, do the practice exams, and you'll be fine.
Maybe it was because I had a really good accounting 229 teacher last year- but this lady is pretty awful. She gives you notes, but her lectures consist of her just simply reading the notes. She doesn't go into depth on anything and just reads aloud what is right in front of you which isnt very helpful. I think her class was better before zoom.
Maybe it's because this class is online but it is not an easy course whatsoever. She is a super dry professor and does not explain things to help you understand them. I and 5 other girls I know are in this class and none of us are performing well despite going to tutoring and working a week in advance to prepare for her exams.
accounting is hard to begin with, it being online is not helpful at all. Grades are made up of 500 pts. 100 per exam (4) and 100 pt combined of hw for each chapter. Homeworks are not too bad, exams are difficult but she does provide formulas which is nice.
Mrs. Allen is a sweet lady but this class is not meant to be taught online. Accounting is hard enough but trying to learn it online sucks. Her lectures are pretty dry and she doesn't do a great job explaining things. It seems like I am trying to teach it to myself each week. I know a lot of people in the class with this same complaint.
She isn't the greatest professor, and this class is kind of something you have to teach yourself. Not to mention, her lectures are pretty boring. The homework is fine, but I wish I counted more towards my grade because the exams are pretty difficult. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend doing the practice homework and the sample exams she puts up for the tests.
Class is made up of four exams and several homeworks, which add up to a test grade. Allen just reads through her PowerPoints and does not even really explain the concepts she's talking about. Honestly, just go to Chris at Tutor John. He explains every chapter and goes over example problems, which are useful for completing the homework.
Professor Allen is a sweet professor. When I took this class, I thought it was difficult to retain the material through online lectures. Grades are from 4 tests and homework average and they are equally weighted. Get your notes done early, and then go over as many practice problems as you can
Professor Allen understands the material and will help you to the best of her ability. The class material isn't too difficult to understand, but fall behind in your studying and it will hurt you in the long run. Carefully listen and watch the online lectures (assuming you'll take it online) and ask for help whenever you need it.
This class is so rough and for what? You have to put into way too much time to do well in this class honestly and with taking hard classes at the same time it has been rough. just take this class seriously. Just watching lectures and doing a couple problems is not enough!
I dont know how the test average is around a 70 for each exam. I learn the material and then the exam questions are so hard or you arent given enough time. Maybe in person this class was easier but online its impossible.
Though I am not a fan of accounting I adore her. Extremely kind, joyous and is more than willing to help. Struggled on the first two tests due to anxiety but found a good way to study and got 97's on the tests. Spread your studying over multiple days and do practice!!! An a is def achievable but put in the work. The only grades are tests/hw.
The sweetest professor. Her tests are pretty rough at least for me, but she had great lectures and I WANTED to go to lecture rather than watch the videos she posts. I wish I could take her for 327.
Not exceptional in any way, but not bad by any means. Tests can be a bit tough compared to the work done in class, but she is very good at teaching the material to the best of her abilities. Would recommend for this course.
Allen is a great choice for 230. The material is so much easier than 229 was and she explains it well. She's great at taking questions in class and providing clear answers. Homework help is always available, so really tests are the only thing you should have to put in a lot of work for.
My professor for 210 was supposed to be Dr. Strawser, but due to an injury, Dr. Allen filled in for him for the semester. She's very sweet and listens to her students. For example, our 2nd test was very long and most of us didn't finish, so she changed the next test to adapt to the time limits. I got a C but an A is definitely attainable!
Allen was very nice and a decent lecturer. Homework is due on the same days every week so you know what to expect, and you have infinite tries on homework so you don't have to worry about losing points. Just make sure to pay attention and take notes and you should be fine.
Professor Allen was great -- she was thorough and clear, and as long as you do good practice with the resources she gives you, you will be fine on exams. Going to class made understanding everything so much easier, even though she gives us old recorded lectures. An A requires a bit of effort, but is doable. Highly recommend her!
Boring, I always watched the video lectures she posted instead of going to class because I almost fell asleep every time. Really failed the first test, so I had to work hard for better grades & used tutor John for the rest 3 tests. Learned off of doing all the practice problems/assignments & tutorjohn, not from Allen.
Allen took over the class but was a good professor. Curved basically all the tests. Weekly homework. Tests were closed book but she allowed a formula sheet. Overall was standard for an accounting class but she didn't make it more difficult than it needed to be and was often generous.
Allen was a great professor. She's very straightforward and you know what to expect on her tests. She doesn't try to trick you. Just make sure to be prepared for exams and you will be fine.
Did well in ACCT 229 so I thought this class was gonna be a blow off, it wasn't. Class is super boring, but make sure to watch the online videos she posts and practice the problems in the notes handbook and you'll get an A. If I had taken the first test seriously I would've gotten an A.
The grade in this class consists of 4 exams and homework assignments with one activity. Allen is sweet & easy to listen to in class. She is open to any questions you may have. Allen also provides you with plenty of examples and sample problems to prepare for exams.
Lecture was boring, not really helpful. She did not teach or elaborate (basically reading a textbook in class) anything outside notes which did not really help when it came to exams. I did all of the practice exams and all the homework, extra homework that was not mandatory and nothing really prepared me for the exams.
Natalie Allen is a very nice women. She understands the course content forward and backward and is really helpful if you ask questions. She is normally good about responding to email, average on tests are all in the Cs. Study everyday to get an A.
3 ways to get an A:1) TUTOR JOHN PACKETS; lectures were monotonous & John's packets w/ videos do a better job at teaching material 2) RE-WORK HW & PRACTICE EXAM/PACKET QUESTIONS; this is really your only study material. I saved exam type questions in John packets for studying & did the video packets throughout semester 3) STUDY THEORY/DEF. IN NOTES
She is one of those professors who is a great person, but not the best teacher. She doesn't explain things very well in lectures, and just goes through the notes. She is very helpful and caring though if you go to her and ask for help. I basically taught myself all the lectures and notes because she didn't explain it well but I still did fine.
I love Prof Allen! While she doesn't always explain it the best, if you go to a tutor or work through homework you can figure it out. She really wants students to do good. Homework assignments are multiple attempts so you can make sure you get 100 and lowest one is dropped. Exams are all multiple choice and similar to homework so work through those
Allen is an amazing person and a great teacher! She sometimes doesn't explain things slow enough or in depth, but if you write down notes you should be fine! The homework she gives is great practice for the tests. If you study a good amount, there should be no doubt you get an A.
Natalie Allen is about as nice as it gets. If you did well in 229 you will do well in this. Attend class and take decent notes, then actually do the homework. If you are able to struggle through the homework on your own until you figure it out then the tests will feel pretty easy. Definitely would recommend Allen for ACCT-230.
Allen is sweet and cares about what she's teaching, but unfortunately this class was dreadfully boring. The only thing I got from class was the notes filled out- basically a self-taught class, as she moves fast. I never used Tutor John and still did well so I don't think he's necessary. Just breathe a sigh of relief that you're not in 229 anymore.
After ACCT 229, 230 felt like a breeze. Everything on the exams is from her lectures so pay attention when she speaks. Do all the homework and assignments before the exam and you shouldn't struggle too much. She's a very gentle professor who wants you to succeed. Don't be scared to talk to her if you need help.
Natalie Allen is a nice professor but I found that her lectures are not very helpful. She does very little explaining and pretty much just reads through the notes while filling them out. Her lectures are also very boring compared to my 229 lectures. I found that the tests were not very similar to the homework or practice problems in our notes.
She's very sweet but lectures are dry. Tests are similar to 229's structure but easier. No assignments except weekly graded (easy) homework and a group project. She understands not everyone wants to be an accountant and doesn't go super in depth with material. Decent pacing and way less intense than 229.
Boring class, nice professor, but just average.
I'm just not a managerial accounting guy, and I struggled. This class is all exams and homework. The homeworks are easy 100s, but the exams I struggled to get Bs on. She did an alright way of teaching it in class, but wasn't crazy helpful. Where she comes in clutch is outside of class. She is so nice and easy to ask for help. I reccommend.
She's a good professor and a very nice person, however I do have one complaint about the class. The practice tests don't really help much at all so I recommend going through all the practice homework's once and go through your entire notes for an exam. The exams are harder than what you are given to practice with so be ready for that.
Genuinely the worst professor I have had at TAMU. Lectures are unbearably boring as she speaks in a monotonous voice while she goes through 2 practice problems with no explanation of how or why. Did all the practice available and still did bad on the tests. Coming from someone who got an A in 229, she makes this class way harder than it should be.
Personally, I didn't like Professor Allen's method of teaching. I found it to be like her talking to her students as if we were fully knowledgeable on accounting terminology and knew exactly what we were doing in her lectures, when we didn't. My advice is to watch the concept videos in McGraw-Hill and teach yourself through them.
Lectures were half in person and the other half through videos. Make sure to watch the videos before class and do the hw with enough time since they take a long time to do. Class is only 50mins/twice a week, making it hard to understand all the material. The exams are all MCQ which means there is barely any feedback available to review.
Very sweet person, I loved going to her lectures! Even if the subject was a little boring, she made class pleasant to be in.
She is such an awesome teacher, and this class is lightwork compared to 229. You can tell that she is an extremely genuine person and she clearly wants all her students to succeed. 100% worth taking her!
Natalie was a great teacher but her exams were always so different than what I expected. She would recommend doing the hw to study but honestly, that was not helpful. The exam averages were always super low. I went to tutor john which got me to score at least a little above average. I think if you did well in 229 you will be fine in this class.
Lectures ares somewhat boring (which is kind of unavoidable for such a class) - but Ms. Allen does her best to teach in a way that is engaging and applicable. She has a bound lecture guide that keeps you organized and on top of things with weekly homeworks and 4 tests. If you study hard before the tests they are very doable.
Prof. Allen covered the concepts and worked through a variety of examples which helps for exam prep. The material goes fast so be sure to watch the videos before class, and get notes for whenever you miss lecture. Go through the Connect practices and chapter/sample exams to prepare for tests, plus read through the notes for theory and vocab.
Class is lowkey optional: If you 1) really understand the notes she gives you 2) understand all the practice problems, you'll do just fine. It helped to rewrite her notes into a way I understood more clearly. Quizes have unlimited attempts to get right, and exams aren't terribly difficult, especially if you remember stuff from 229.
Allen is a good professor. ACCT 230 (and 229, and every other relevant ACCT course) is just hard. I've lost probably ~20 points total off exams on silly conceptual question errors, like "what is managerial accounting". You can afford to get 4/30Q wrong to still get an A. Her end-of-year curves are tiny, like 1% max usually off your final grade.
A little easier than ACCT 229, lectures can get boring, but the material is more concept based. Third test drops off averages, so make sure to study harder for it. Main thing is to pay attention and get the easy points where you can. She teaches well enough for the course.
class is def easier than 229 but its so boring. go to class and pay attention and you'll do alr. tests are easier than the ones in 229 but if you don't study you're cooked.
Got an A in 229 and this class was supposed to be easier. The classes are unbearably boring and the professor does a horrendous job at explaining concepts and she makes the problems 10x harder than they need to be.
Allen teaches well and the concepts aren't difficult to understand, however, the content itself is pretty boring. The tests were harder than expected but with enough studying it shouldn't be difficult to get an A, just make sure to take notes during lecture.
She was very sweet and you can get an A if you put in the effort which I did not.
Maybe a little bit reverse bias because I hate accounting and am very bad at it. Lectures are boring and I didn't really understand it when she taught it, had to get outside tutoring.
She is passionate and tries to make ACCT fun, but 230 is just boring content. Really like her as a person. My test grades got progressively worse. Don't slack off. Test is difficult and tests if you understand the content thoroughly.
I LOVE HER!!! This class really wasn't bad if you just do the practice exams. Practice exams very similar to the test and Prof is so sweet and nice.
Professor Allen is a great teacher and very caring. The class can be difficult if you do not study or review notes but sample exams and practice problems inside the homework software are similar to the exams.
She is very nice, but not very good at explaining content or teaching. She frequently kept the class 5-10 minutes past the end time with no apology. Refuses to provide practice exams. Online weekly homework is confusing, irrelevant, and lengthy. Small curves on exams.
I would def recommend her. The homework is easy and does not take long. Attendance isn't mandatory and the actual course content is not too difficult. Study theory for the exams as well because this is where most points are missed. Do the practice homeworks and exams before tests and you should be good! Overall, great professor and easy class.
Professor Allen is the sweetest, her lectures can be boring, but if you stay engaged and try to interact in class, you'll understand a lot more. The tests are really important, so study hard for them. I'm not good at accounting so this class was a little difficult for me, but it's pretty straightforward in terms of work and assignments
Prof Allen is really sweet!. However, it was difficult to understand class material. 1 thing I would recommend is to NOT FALL BEHIND. If you don't understand material from first exam, you will have a hard time doing well on the rest of the exams. Recommend doing the additional problems before each exam. Final is easy if you do her final review.
She's not the best prof but she is very nice. Her lectures can get a bit confusing but if you take time after each class to review the notes, you should be fine. Definitely go to class even though attendance is not mandatory. I recommend doing the practice problems in the notes to better prepare for exams. Overall, not a terribly difficult class.
Overall I loved professor Allen. My only complaint is sometimes material felt very rushed, but I think that is due to the class only being 50 minutes 2 times a week. She is very willing to work with students and helping them succeed.
Dr. Allen is kind and wants to help, but the course is extremely fast-paced with 250+ students and only one professor. There's a lot of material with very little time between exams. I dropped and plan to take it at a community college. If you're not ACCT/FINC, I recommend the same. This felt more like a class structure issue than a professor issue.
Professor Allen is a very sweet professor who cares a lot about her students. Her lectures can be boring, but she has YouTube videos that accompany the very helpful notes. Tests are hard; she makes them trickier and harder than practice. Know the theory and redo all notes practice problems. Small course curve about 2 points.
She is nice and very detailed. Know the theory and be able to apply it. Do multiple examples from her lecture guide AND the homework problems in connect to do well on exams. The homework isn't time consuming. Please watch the videos before class, it gives you a good foundation! Don't slack off. You need to do the repetition and practice to succeed.
Good class. Not too bad. Go to lectures, take notes, and you'll pass just fine
