Good teacher. Explains well and wants to help students. Accent sometimes hard to understand and sometimes rushes through lectures but an overall good teacher. Would recommend.
She sometimes is wrong in class and does not spend enough time going through examples but offers to help on your own time. She doesn't give enough time on clicker questions either. She is trying to be better though. I prefer Clifford as she spent time to make sure everybody understood the subject and did plenty of clear and correct examples.
She's incredibly intelligent, but she makes students feel stupid for asking questions. She rushes through, but she offers a review before the test which is really helpful. Pay attention closely while in class or you'll miss something.
Answers questions in class and if you don't understand, you can go to the office hours and she will help you. Wanting for you to understand the chemistry. It is a hard class and there is a lot of material.
Dr. Rocher is a pretty good professor. She will move very quickly in lecture but often stops and asks if anyone has questions, so if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask her! Sometimes she was not very clear at explaining practice problems in class and would get stuck or confused. However, she is VERY helpful in office hours!
She moves fast through the lectures but you can use the printed lecture notes. She is very helpful and seems to do her best for you to understand.
Teacher is very helpful. Tries to give a lot of examples in class and also lots more practice with homework. Will be great help during office hours. Would recommend this teacher.
She is a terrible professor. Doesn't take time to make sure anyone understands anything in the class. She breezes through everything and likes to remind us how chemistry in America is easier than France. Lecture is hardly worth going to.
She's so nice! She moves fast but she has to in order to complete all the material. She is very helpful and genuinely cares about her students.
Lecture is very dry, generally teaches what's on the test. Her lecture isn't as good as the other professors as it's generally old notes. Doesn't do many practice problems. She doesn't always explain things the best during lecture but just talk to her after.
Dr. Rocher is a good teacher. She always will answer questions in class and if you still don't understand, she is very helpful during office hours. She has very hard clicker questions though. I recommend her.
Just Awesome! She loves chemistry and you can tell when she teaches. Lots of practice problems during class and you can always ask questions. She also posts everything online: lecture notes, reviews, practice answers.
I had a great semester because of Rocher. I worked really hard and because of all the extra credit I made an A. She helped me so much on my quizzes and homework during her office hours. It went way too fast during the lectures and I didn't want to ask questions so I asked at her office hours. She is really helpful.
I had her last semester and now I am in Chem 1415. Cool teacher, obviously likes to teach. It is really too bad the class is so large, but she is very accessible during office hours.
Rocher Rocks
Rather hard to understand, she moves through examples and slides very quickly. Not helpful at office hours.
She is a great professor and always willing to help. She has a French accent, so she may be difficult for some to understand.
Dr. Rocher is a good lecturer, but she does move fast. If you don't come into the class with a reasonable amount of chem background, she might be a little confusing. She is very willing to help and will go through any example or question people in class have. A very minor French accent, which I think makes her more fun to listen to.
Pretty good teacher. French so at times it was difficult to understand her, but she means well. If you go to her office hours like I did you'll understand it a lot better.
Great professor, very helpful, clear lectures. You know what to expect. Easy to make an A with her.
Love Rocher! My favorite class this semester. Still a tough class with lots of work but I least she cares about you. Would love to have her for Chem II
If you have never taken a Chemistry class before, like myself, do not take this class. She was very difficult to understand, and her accent did not help. Nothing was explained the way it should have been for such a hard class. Without a tutor, this class was impossible to pass. Lots of homework, quizzes, and tests.
Rocher is great! Chemistry is hard so studying is a must, but you can tell she does care. Don't talk loudly in her class because she will call you out. Her accent and personality make the class amusing at times.
Chem was a very hard class, plain and simple. However, Dr. Rocher was extremely helpful in aiding students with any questions. It was clear that she really cared about our learning and even stopped in the middle of her sentences to make sure we really understood what was going on. If I have any advice, go to her office hours and do extra credit!
Dr. Rocher is super sweet, and more than willing to help her students. That being said, Chem is just a difficult course and there's only so much she can do with so many students. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, and you can easily pass this class. It's definitely not easy, but you can make it out of chem with a good grade if you truly apply yourself.
Chemistry is HARD at OU. You will be working very hard for a good grade in this class if Chemistry is not your thing. Do all of the extra credit. Make good grades on the labs and in recitation. Study the heck out of everything before the tests. The average on the tests was about a 56%. Take this class at a community college if you can.
Dr. Rocher was an excellent professor. She truly cares for her students and makes sure that she explains everything well while making sure to try her best to add humor! She is always willing to clarify anything that she has said. Make sure to not skip class because of the in-class extra credit. She's also really chill in her office hours.
Dr. Rocher is amazing. Go to her office hours!!! Put in a little effort and you'll get an A. Out of the Gen Chem Profs, she is BY FAR the best one. She's understanding, nice, and wants you to succeed. Her French accent did not make it difficult for me to understand what so ever. Do the extra credit and ask her ?'s in office hours & you'll be fine!
Dr. Rocher is the best gen chem professor at OU compared to the others. She is nice and gives the best lectures and provides everything you need to know on her powerpoints. I got C's and D's on all of my tests and still got an A in the class, just be sure to do all of the extra credit, homework, and do good on the lab reports.
Rocher was kind and truly seemed like she cared about every question that was asked even though it was a large class! Her French accent was never a problem for me to understand. There was a lot of extra credit offered in this class, which was very helpful.
Loved learning in her class, She is great especially when the students ask questions. Clicker point saved my butt, and the format of the course is set up for you to achieve a B if you try. My grade only went down because I missed lab (sick) so do everything in the syllabus and you will get an A
Dr. Rocher is definitely not the worst professor. However, she covers a lot in each lecture, very quickly. This made it hard to grasp concepts and information. I had to teach myself basically the whole semester. I recommend doing every extra credit she provides. It will help in the long run.
This was a very lecture heavy course, and Dr. Rocher goes through the material very quickly. She does participation questions every class period that go towards your grade, so participation is extra important with this class. She was very focused on helping students understand the material. There was a lot of homework, but it was good practice.
I loved Rocher! She teaches very fast but is great at explaining things. Please ask questions in office hours if you need help, and go to action center tutoring. Do all the extra credit (she gives a ton) and study hard. It is very possible to get an A in this course, even if you're not fantastic at chem. Would definitely recommend her class!!
Professor Rocher moves through Material entirely too fast. The lab TAs for her section were awful. Do not take.
best chem prof. lots of extra credit
This class is tough but theres lots of extra credit opportunities and she's very helpful. Exams are hard, I got C's on each exam but still ended up with an A because of extra credit. She also gives a bunch of practice problems to help you prepare. Go to the action center, pay attention in class, and go to her office hours and you will be fine!
I made Cs on all my chem exams, but ended up with an A just because there was so many extra credit opportunities. I wish I would have taken advantage of the sapling learning curves as we were learning each unit because that is honestly the best way to learn each subject. Rocher is absolutely amazing, so caring & will go out of her way to help you.
Professor Rocher is a decent instructor. The class is difficult but if you do all of the extra credit then theres nothing to worry about. I will warn that if you get a bad TA, which is likely, her and the rest of the chem department wont do anything about it.
Lectures are nonmandatory, but they are so helpful. The course is very fast-paced which makes it more difficult to learn, but she provides extra credit. It is best to take notes and look over the slides to prepare for the exams. Practice problems are a must! The course is difficult, but she is the best! LABs are required so choose your TA wisely.
This course is insanely stressful already, and Natalie made it worse. She told us that it was our fault that the majority of multiple sections were scoring very poor on the exams and that she isn't our teacher. The only good part was that there is a ton of extra credit, and you should 100% do it because it was the only thing that saved my grade.
A good professor and gives a lot of extra credit to the point where it's kind of impossible to fail. Of course, you still have to manage labs in between that (graded by TAs) but it's still manageable and you can easily get an A. Lectures don't add that much but are great supplement for the textbook if you don't want to read.
The homework load was great. Extra credit opportunities are amazing and you should definitely take advantage of it. The lectures killed me. I felt that she moved really fast, and when questions were asked she oftentimes would repeat what was already said. Exams were really hard for me... felt kind of lost the majority of the semester.
Dr. Rocher was a fair professor, she was very kind and she has many office hour opportunities outside class if you need help. She also offered a ton of extra credit. However, her lectures were very hard to understand sometimes because she teaches very fast. Pay attention to the concepts in lecture, because she does lots of class participation.
Dr. Rocher is a passionate professor. The lectures are going to be heavy. She teaches a lot of material in one class so be sure to not miss them. Theres HW and iClicker questions from lecture every week. 26 points of extra credit available. 3 exams and a final. Don't miss recitation or lab those missing assignments will bring your grade down.
Lets face it, Chemistry is hard. The exams in this class are gonna make you feel stupid, and there is so much material that you barely have time to write notes down in this class. However, Professor Rocher is always available and cares about your success. Go to office hours, do the extra cred, all the hw, and study, and you can get an A.
This class was extremely hard. Rocher talks WAY too fast. TA's were AWFUL. The test questions were ten times harder than the homework questions and we did not get enough time to take the tests. I barely finished this class with a B. I there are a little too ambitious for a general chem class. Lecture content didn't line up with the lab content.
If you do all the learning curves (extra credit) and get A's on all the homework assignments, you can pass the class easily. I received an A in the class by doing the homework assignments and learning curves and getting C's-D's on the normal exams. Doing this and getting a B on the final can get you a good grade in the class.
I was at a B average the whole semester and fell below the the cut-off at a C. Dr. Rocher changed the distribution of grading due to the class average. I finished with a B at 77.5% average! The class is very difficult but she is willing to help. There are also lots of extra credit opportunities, take advantage!
I took this class in fall 2020 so it was all online besides the lab, but lectures were good for online and easy to follow. If you've taken any chemistry before this class it is pretty easy. also flim
Amazing lecturer, tests are based on lecture and very fair. There are adequate reminders on tests and lots of review materials. Very accommodating of questions and has good office hours.
This class is difficult, but it's chemistry. Rocher is a pretty good lecturer (but goes fast) and is available during office hours if you need help. If the class average is low for exams, she'll curve based on the highest score. Ample resources and opportunities for exam review and extra credit. Take advantage of extra credit and office hours!
I loved Rocher and am even taking her again next semester for Chem 2, intro to chem is definitely a tough class but her lectures have everything you need to know.
This isnt really Rochers fault, its more of the courses fault. She did what she could but she teaches as if we are all Chem experts going over a review. She moves very fast, and the exams are extremely hard. Hardest class I had this semester, and it wasnt even close. I studied every night, and got a 100% on all HWs, and still got an 80%.
Rocher is a great professor but the chemistry class is just difficult. Participation does matter so you will have to show up to every class. The class is very fast-paced and exams are hard. There is a lot of HW that can somewhat balance it out. I failed every exam but still passed from the HW and participation coming in, plus extra credit options.
It was a pleasure to take Dr. Rocher's course! In addition to being excellent at presenting concepts to students, she also appears to have a sincere desire for students to learn. As an individual who used to despise chemistry, I actually enjoy it now!
Professor Rocher is a great professor! However, the material is very difficult and she goes very fast. Reading to textbook and doing your own work outside of class is necessary. There is a ton of extra credit, but the tests are very difficult and you'll want to get A/B/C's on them in order to have wiggle room on the final to have an A. Study!
Professor Rocher was an amazing teacher. Her test were very tough. She has thorough lecture and gives homework once a week and is usually do Sunday at midnight. She also has extra credit due throughout the semester. Have questions go to her office hours. She will answer questions but you have to ask and be willing to go put in some extra time.
This class is very hard. If you do not have a good basic understanding of chem you will spend a lot of time doing background studying. Exams are very hard, Class averages were 60s. Material on the exams were steps above the study guide. New material was introduced on the exam, if you couldnt figure it out to bad. Having a mid prof makes this harder
was incredibly rude and did not want to help her students succeed. Did everything in her power to make me fail class after asking for help many times. Had to go through the chemistry board and advisor to get her to help after she had refused. She ghosted my emails at the end of the semester.
I had her for Chem 1415. The class itself is hard. It is a chemistry class, but Dr. Rocher is more than willing to help a struggling student. Her lectures are easy to understand and very thorough.
She does a good job, but the content of the class is a lot to handle. She goes really quick, and if you miss lectures there is a good chance you will be behind. Weekly class participation points and the tests are pretty hard. There is a lot of EC (16 points at the end of the semester) but the class avg on tests were like 60s...
Yes, the class can be difficult at times, but she is a super kind and approachable person. If you ever have any doubts about material, definitely go to her office hours. Lectures are very valuable too, but she goes fast so get ready for that. Overall amazing professor.
I took Professor Rocher for Chemistry 1315 and 1415 and I think that Professor Rocher did a wonderful job. She made me love chemistry. It is a harder class in general, but if you do everything that she recommends even though it may not be required you will do great. I read the textbook and attended office hours regularly and made an A easily.
Dr. Rocher is the best! No complaints at all. We do many examples of calculations in class, so you are well-prepared for the homework assignments and exams. You get an exam sheet to use during the exams so that helps. LOTS of extra credit to boost grades. Very nice and helpful during class. Definitely recommend her!
Dr. Rocher is probably one of my favorite professors I've had at this University. She is so nice and willing to help no matter what you are struggling with and is always very understanding. Definitely recommend her. Exams are difficult, but it is CHEM 2 after all, but she offers a multitude of EC, and curves exams if the class average is low.
She is awesome. The class is tough but she is very good at explaining everything and is always prepared and very attentive. She is very kind during office hours and always wants to help her students in any way she can.
we had 5 exams. they were all pretty difficult and the class average was always a 60-65%.. shes a nice person, but the content was too hard to understand. I wish there was more extra credit. we had a lot of busy work including recitation and labs that were graded a bit harshly from the TAs.
The class is naturally lecture heavy but her lectures aren't the worst. She often skips through material you don't know fast and focuses on something that is easy for too long. She reviews material from the unit before each class so thats nice. Tests were definitely difficult but you get 1 drop! Lab reports are bad but go to TA help hours for it!
Dr. Rocher was a great overall professor. She explains difficult material well. I truly believe she is the best chemistry professor in the department.
The iClicker was actually graded, which hurt my grade. Rocher wants to connect with students, but large classes prohibit that. When students do reach out, she is wonderful.
The tests are worth a large portion of your grade, but every other assignment and extra credit is very easy to get a 100 on. There are so many points available that an A is very doable. Professor Rocher is very nice and helpful outside of class.
Attend all lectures. This is a lecture-heavy class. Don't miss classes as participation questions are asked. There are 5 tough exams, but the lowest score is dropped. The final is cumulative. Complete all homework and extra credit. Labs can be hard; ask your TA for help. Go to the professor's office hours early in the semester; she wants to help!
Professor Rocher was extremely rude in office hours, she even made comments about me with another student who was also in office hours right in front of me. She gave us extra credit and only accepted half of it for our final grade. Her lectures were extremely fast, tests were super hard, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
She is a great person and super sweet. However, she has a thick French accent which makes it hard to follow. She talks very fast and is hard to keep up .She has lots of extra credit but doesn't get added till end of semester. Homework helps out your grade so much. class average in 50's.Very lecture heavy, participation matters and graded
Rocher was a good professor she just teaches so fast with so much material. Exams are very hard. If you want to do well on exams you do need to attend class. If you miss a lecture you do miss a lot of the material. Overall the class is pretty difficult but as long as you attend all the lectures, do the home-works , and study you should pass!
Difficult
Best professor i've had this semester.
She is a good professor of chemistry but can be hard to reach outside of class and participation is critical because of the timeline of the course she takes.
As someone who began this class thinking I was bad at chem, this class was very doable. You will have to study outside of lectures but as long as you apply yourself it is very fair. I never needed to go to office hours, but everyone I know likes Dr Rocher
Dr. Rocher was great! The class in general is very hard, but if you go to lecture and study outside of lecture, you should pass. There's also a lot of extra credit she adds at the end of semester and helps your grade a whole letter. She does go fast during lecture but explains everything well. One of the best chem professors
Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass this class, missing one class can put you really behind. Participation/attendance is taken everyday. The class is quite fast paced but that's because there is so much material that has to be taught in gen chem. She gives lots of extra credit and you get a note card for all exams. Challenging but doable.
She is really helpful in her office hours and can help you if you are struggling with any topics
She was great overall. Doing the practice exams really helped a lot. And she doesn't curve!!! unless its like super bad...
NATALIE ROCHER IS A QUEEN! Her lectures are amazing. She is passionate about what she teaches and ready to answer questions. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and exam review material. You get infinite attempts for all the problems on the chemistry homework. I look forward to going to this class every day that I have it!
Lectures mean a lot. Study.
The class itself is very difficult. Getting a C requires a fair amount of work, B's require so much studying, and A's require your full attention. She is definitely the professor you want for this class. She is the most helpful and easiest to understand, and makes a very difficult class a lot easier. Pay attention to lectures and study often.
The class and material itself are challenging, but she is a very good professor. I went to office hours after doing poorly on an exam, and when she looked at my scratch paper to see where I made mistakes, she still gave me some points back on the exam. She is so sweet!
Nice professor, that's caring, but goes super fast in lecture while also going very in depth which will make you lost if you dont prepare before hand. Very hard course Im just happy this hell is over. Make sure you get a good foundation of Chem 1. Got to all of the resources they provide. Good amount of extra credit. Labs are horrible.
Very easy to understand and a great teacher overall. Her lectures are fast-paced, though. Gives a good amount of credit and is helpful.
She is the best professor I've had at OU. Lots of extra credit, good lectures, lots of opportunities to get help outside of class with office hours and tutoring. Would highly recommend her!
Professor is super sweet and accommodating. She just hates people talking in class. She teaches well and is very engaging in class. I highly recommend taking her. There is so much extra credit which makes the class easy to pass. Exams are though so study at least 3 days before. The final was very though & cumulative so just make sure to study.
Honestly she's such a big step up from Kabir if you had him. I thought she was great and really good at explaining things and she has a lot of outside class help. She also for each unit had a so far document that she uploaded which was basically the powerppoints condensed to almost everything you need to know for the exams
