I love this teacher. The best and most insightful ever. Yes, she might be a little confusing at first but she gets better as you go along. She is very analytical and passionate about political science. One of the best at ELAC and most beautiful.

Great professor. She is very passionate about political science and teaches the subject very well. I took her last spring and had a very enjoyable experience in her class.

Not an easy A, but you'll walk away being slightly more aware of what's happening in the world. Monteiro makes class enjoyable because of her passion (+ humor) for the subject. 2 tests, final paper (+ presentation), 2 presentations on mini-cases in thee book, a few quizzes, & book reports make up your grade. As long as you read, you should be fine.

This teacher is great! I recomend her if you are interested in actually learning something. She is very knowledgeable in the subject. Not an easy A, you must study and read the book.

Took her for Comp.Gov, she's an amazing person that actually cares about her students, she wants her students to consciously know what's going on in the world. She makes you work, but its a great class. Whether you agree with her politix or not, she's a beautiful and interesting citizen of this world.

Really cool teacher, makes you want to be in class but her tests are a kinda hard but if you just actually study like you should for every class you should be AWESOME

class was enjoyable. she has a great sense of humor. she is clear to understand and tells you what you need to know for the test. personally, i didnt use/buy the book and i got a B. there are a couple of tests, and 1 presentation. aside from weekly homework. however, the class was not all that easy. you need to put time and effort into it.

i took her poli sci 2 class and i found it completely cool.she does talks a lot and might seem she's not going by the book,but she is,she has the whole book memorized.her class is not an easy A and 3/4 of students dropped,but if you stick with the class,read and get her to help you you're all set.shes approachable and i highly recommend her class!!

Took her online class last summer. Good teacher and informative course. Highly recommend her class. Pay attention to her notes, which basically tells you what is on the final and you will pass with an A.

She is a cool teacher, very out spoken and will school you if you try to out smart her. Her assignments aren't' clear but are easy to finish. Study, read the textbook and turn in all the assignments on time and you will get an A.

I'm not going to lie and say I don't have a bias opinion on this professor because she was my favorite professor. However her class is not the easiest. Overall if your a leftist you will enjoy her if your more to the right, then you wont. She is passionate and will be a good connection if needed.

She is awesome! I love hearing her lectures. Very entertaining. She did not grow up here so she was not fed the bs we were. She will give you a real world view on things not just the American view. If you follow politics here and around the world you'll love her. She nows politics better than most of the people you see on CNN. Take her for polisci 1 and 2 you won't regret it. Be prepared to work and learn!

She is really easy to approach, and will help you to understand the material. She doesn't think that this country is horrible, but that our politicians are the ones that make us look bad. She care for the community and is involve to make student aware of what's happening in the world. She is an interest character. I recommend you to take her class.

Her class was an eye opener to the world around us. If you need help just ask her, take notes, and pay attention to lectures. Also, she loves in- class discussions about current events and that will really help you towards your participation.

Her class is really boring, always goes off topic.I'm currently taking her clas, I was really excited because poli sci was in my interest & I want to major in it but she just make this class harder than what it is suppossed to be like. read the book, lectures don't help, half the info comes from student presentations, makes me want to change major

With politics, everyone has an opinion, and Monteiro has hers. Leans to the left & constantly criticizes conservatives & Republicans, but who can blame her? Class is fairly easy, PowerPoint lectures & uses the book frequently. Students do presentations & some exams which make up the grade. Very helpful & clarifies anything you ask her to! Take her!

Professor is cool. Took it in the Winter. Grades on 3 quizzes, 4 weekly summaries, group presentation, and final. Make sure to do all the readings and copy her notes. Easy class but need to read the textbook to pass the quizzes and final. In the end, she would give the question for the final since she felt so generous. Got an A.

Monteiro is one of a kind. NOT AN EASY A. must keep up with the readings and make sure to take notes. Her quizzes and test aren't easy so if you're looking for a HS easy A find another teacher.

Currently taking her! She is a passionate, knowledgeable professor who truly cares about humanity and students. She does go off topic but she makes up with all the extra information she gives. I actually added this class and from seeing all the negative reviews, I thought it was going to be a hard class. Surprisingly, she was a great teacher. I took her when the elections for president was going on and a lot of her class was about the elections. Her tests are based from the key terms of the book. Passed the class with an A.

She goes very off topic and is very clear on her socialist views but will never give you less of a grade for disagreeing with her. I challenged her openly on many topics as a patriotic American and a centralist. I even openly expressed my right wing views on issues like gun control and immigration. I was head her class and enjoyed it.

I took her class during Summer '13. If you have different views, she won't give less of a grade but she'll get into a debate with you which is very informative. However, for PoliSci01, she does use the book and make sure you read it ahead of time because she will go off topic in class.

Prof. Monteiro is TRULY a POLITICAL WARRIOR! & very, very, very KNOWLEDGEABLE! She would help anyone she can, and will continue to... despite her EXTREMELY BUSY SCHEDULE. Would take again!

The online course is easy but the professor change due date and grade for no reason, the due date she setting on Monday but she changed to Thursday on Saturday. so confusing . Also she said 235 out of 293 is grade A, that 80%, then I got 250 but she give me B, maybe she counted again then she changed.

Online Course for Spring 2016, although in the beginning there was a lot of confusion due to tech problem. Class was easy to follow Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. An additional book (online) ebook was required $50. It's a easy A. All you have to do is read the chapter study the gist, post discussions and reply to a peer discussion. Really EASY!

Those who complain about the class didn't read and are upset. She may not give clear directions but that's why it's a online course your on your own. Read the modules post discussions and reply discussions. Do the gist on the other online website ebook. Take exams really easy. COMMON SENSE. Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday.

She was the smarters professor I ever met at ELAC. She can truly answer any question you bring to thentable without hesetation, hands down. Yes, she is SUPER busy, but just keep track of yourself and work assignments and you will progress.

If you don't like hard work you are not going to make it in her classes. She makes you work and I am so glad I had her before transferring to UC Berkeley. Professor Monteiro got me ready for the UC system. Thank you!

Be prepared to read A LOT! She usually assigns homework questions after every assigned reading, which can be tough at first. Her questions are not the usual "the answer is in the text." You really have to think about the question to give an answer she would like. I would recommend her to anyone interested in Political Science.

Professor Monteiro is poorly described by others on this website. She is clear from the beginning about the students' responsibilities in order to pass the class. Yes, it is a lot of reading but hey, WELCOME TO COLLEGE!! If you're lazy, good luck finding a professor who cares less about your education. Period!

Professor Monteiro is extremely knowledgeable. All of the readings she assigns have a purpose and they definitely prepare you for university level courses. It is important to read and keep up with the CPAs that she assigns. As long as you read and ask for help you will be fine in her class.

Professo Monteiro has been by far my favorite professor here at ELAC. She is an amazing professor and gives students so much insight on the world and of course politics. Her PoliSci2 class is different from PoliSci1 in regards to assignments and papers but it is completely doable for any student to excel in. I will 110% recommend her!!!

Monteiro is very good and clear during lectures making it easy to understand for all students regardless of their political beliefs. I would recommend her to any social science, political science, or undeclared major. Her assignments are too difficult you just need to keep up with readings and attend class AND ASK QUESTIONS! She is here to help!

This is a great class to fulfill IGETC. Do the discussions and readings and you will definitely get an A. Totally recommend, no essays just a final exam and quizzes.

I took political science 01 online with professor Monteiro. It was a short term class and although there were many assignments and quizzes through our the week the assignments & quizzes were fairly easy. Any time I had a question shed reply with in the day & I would recommend her to anyone looking for a poli sci class online.

I took political science 01 online as a short term class. She gave lots of assignments back to back but with communication, she accepted late assignments. Although it was a lot of work she was very nice and I would take her again.

She is a really great professor if you really want to learn. Her class wasnt easy but it wasnt impossible you just have to do your work & study.

This was my second semester with her. She had the energy, but later dies down in the half the semester her Syllabus for assignments and due dates for the test were spread thin although she was busy with other school-related issues revolving around the school and helping students to pass the class she very caring around those who know her well.

Dr. Montiero is one of the best professors at ELAC. She knows her field very well and will make you know it. I recommend Prof. Montiero to anyone is a very independent student because Montiero is very active throughout the campus she does not always have time to meet with students. She is very passionate and true cares about her students.

Textbook is required. There's a lot of homework, but it is easy. The professor is quite disorganized as you need to read her instruction multiple times before you can understand what she means. Her grading is easy, but the final (25-30% total grades) includes ALL the material you learn from the beginning. Don't fail the final or you're done.

Was one of the most interesting classes that I've ever had. her lectures are incredibly interesting and get you invested and the readings in her class are actually fun. Have only ever had to do one project in her class and presented it once. if you actually care and do the work you'll breeze through her class
