Nice guy and all a bit quiz happy lost a lot of points for not knowing minor detials abotu the reading I did learn a lot though and he let us write our own mid-term and finals.
Very nice and very easy to listen. Makes the topic fun and entertaining
Very funny guy. Gets to know individual students pretty well. Class can get a little boring sometimes but it's not a hard class to earn an A in. What you put into it is what you get out of it.
Read Everything. If you are taking his class online, and you make a mistake, don't expect any sympathy. Instead he tried to guilt me into not pushing the issue.
Quiz happy.. yes..
He's a great guy. Strong testimony and strong spirit.
Really good guy and definitely loves what he does. Can be a little demanding for a religion class and doesn't put up with slackers, yet is surprisingly forgiving. Your biggest mistake would be not to talk to him if you have a problem with his class. He
I had him for Intro to Church History as well and he was the same for both classes. I found him to be very funny at times. He gives off the impression of being a pushover, but in reality, he is not at all. He is really tough as far as grading and stuff goes. If you follow all his guidelines and rules and stuff, you'll be fine, but don't expect any leway if you stray off at all.
I actually liked the class, but the final was ridiculously long and pointless. I saw no actual application of things we learned, and asked nit-picky questions most people wouldn't know.
Very monatone voice. Seems to only pay attention to a few people in the class. Gives meaningless assignments it seems. Boring class.
Brother Williams is very spiritual and easy to listen to. He also has a great sense of humor and keeps his class interested. I learned a lot from his lectures. There is a lot of work to do in his class and he is pretty demanding for a religion class, but I enjoyed it.
Brother Williams is a very spiritual guy. I loved listening to all of his insights and lectures on the Book of Mormon. This class is pretty demanding. You have to write papers every day you come to class and the final is ridiculous. Just make sure to fill out the review sheet for the final! It really helps and I actually learned a lot from it.
A teriffic class!!! I would take him again. The final exam was very difficult, but it was fun and definitely worth it. The class taught me a lot.
I really like how Bro. Williams tries to include everyone in the discussion. He is very knowledgeable about the classes he teaches. He kind of reminds me of Mr. Rogers too!
Not very reliable to get into touch with. Did not like the papers knowing he looked at the time not the paper

I took 2 classes from him, and they were both great. He knows his stuff, and you can definitely feel the spirit in his classes.
I took him and it was an utter waste. I get more out of informal discussions with friends. He depends on the class to teach each other as if he had no insights or direction to the discussion. Take someone else.
Really good class, he does make you right up a short paper on what you read for each class period, but you learn a LOT in this class. this class is for people who actually want to learn, if your more into having it really easy then dont take him. other wise this class is way worth taking. It's fun, educational, and spiritual. Good Class.
Very good teacher, very helpful, easy to talk to during class. some people complain because when they tried calling him they couldnt get a hold of him but hes a bishop for heaven sakes he has meetings, and people to see. get guy, very fun, and spiritual.
Not a bad guy. but the test was very very long and very very hard... homework due every day that was youir attendance grade. hardest religon class i have ever taken but he was a good teacher just alot of bizy work...
SO boring!! It took all that i had to get out of bed and go to thi class. He has a boring voice and the assignments he gives out are pure busy work. The final tet is REALLY hard. I would not reccommend him.
His was the first religion class i had on this campus... I've experienced a lot of religious teachers in my life but this guy is amazing!!! He is so worthy and pure as a teacher, the spirit was always present in class. He is incredible. If you want to learn from the Holy Ghost, his class is the one for you.
Great guy. Easy class no final exam. He knows a lot of info if you are willing to ask in class. If you have a hard semester take this class to balance things out. There is a one page personal response due before class. I doubt he ever reads them because mine were just rambling. I got an easy A.
Such a good teacher! I have taken all my religion classes from Brother Williams. There is a paper due every class, but much is learned from them. Final exam is super easy and short. Like 25 questions. I would recommend him to anyone.
He's a nice guy but I don't like his teaching style very much. DIdn't like the final either, it was alot of work for a religion class. He gives you one hundred questions and you have to find the answer for them. Out of those questions he takes 25 of them for the final. Did offend but maybe i'm just easily offended
not too bad. Hilarious guy!! real nice. He taught american foundations but is nornally a religion teacher so he likes to incorperate religion into his lessons. Real easy class if you just do the work and show up.
Awesome Teacher. Probably my favorite so far. Who knew American History could be so interesting and fun?
Brother Williams is a pretty good professor. He is a nice guy. I was pretty bored each class period. I also wasn't a big fan of all the homework he assigned. But he is a good guy.
Brother Williams was good, but his teaching techniques were not as fulfilling or exciting.Workloads in this class were too heavy with other classes. Work was tedious and lengthy.
He is a fun guy! And has a real passion for what he is teaching. But everything is right out of the book.
Brother Williams enjoys teaching but I found it hard to know what he was looking for. I never did well on tests because alot of them asked for specific answers/ definitions I didn't know to study. Not my favorite professor to take the class from but he was a fun guy.
Amazing teacher who is deeply invested in the welfare of his students. His tests were not hard at all, you just have to do some memorization of terms! He did give homework for every class but it was not difficult. The other AmFnd classes are way harder and require much more work so I don't know what the other people are talking about! Take him!
Nate Williams is an awesome teacher and his non-bias opinions make the class very enjoyable and helps you ponder and think. His class was my favorite this semester.
He was very spiritual and stuff, but he needs to learn when to say certain things because some of them could come off as something bad.. at least to me they did. Sometimes he got too technical with the stuff. other than that he is a good teacher.
Hilarious teacher, extremely spiritual, he brings the spirit but isn't prudish just because its a religion class. Class was easy but for teachings of the living prophets there isn't alot of material to go off of so the class seemed to be redundant. I'd highly recommend taking him.
Bro Williams is an AWEOSOME teacher. He will do all that he can to help you prepare for tests. I learned so much from his class and did really well, because I did the work. If you don't want to do the work, you will not like the class and will get nothing out of it. Unbias, kind, caring and passionate about teaching. Highly recommended.
You will get an A if you are in class every single day. He is cool and I didnt mind the class, but I think his wife has gotten to him because he hates on Americans like he were a Canadian constantly. If you are sick of feeling like crap just because you were born here then dont take the class. He goes over board with it.
Awesome teacher. He is by far my favorite religion teacher. Easy class and very uplifting. Homework is just a 1 page reflection to the reading and most of that is just answering questions and your insights, it's really easy, and no final or midterm. Would HIGHLY recommend taking a class from him!
Bro. Williams is an amazing teacher..history has never been my thing but he made it fun and very interesting! He does a great job of keeping it unbias. You will do well if you go to class prepared..but there is lots of reading to do. But overall GREAT class.
Good teacher, but I found his class very boring. His assignments seemed kind of pointless. There aren't many points in this class so missing a few days and assignments will kill your grade. Come to class, do the assignments, and stay awake. You will get an A.
The class was very interesting, and the expectations are clear and precise. I really looked forward to class. He uses class time well and I learned a lot. Just keep up with the reading assignments or your grade will quickly drop.
Can seem a little dry and boring at first, but if you do your reading and listen then you'll find Bro Williams has a lot of good insights into the Book of Mormon. Very easy class, one assignment due for each day and final exam is only 20 questions.
Nice teacher but tests were hard. He didn't really tell you what to study. I would do good on the assignments and not do good on the tests.
He is a pretty good teacher. Sometimes he does assign a lot of busy work.
Bro Williams is a great guy. Some of his homework is time-consuming, but if you study with the right attitude it will only benefit you. But the hard homework is only part of the time. His tests are not weighted very high. Overall, I really enjoyed his class. He sheds a great light on America and the how the gospel relates to the subject.
really knows his stuff, assigns a lot of busy work though, but most of it is early in the semester and the work load decreases. the final is a presentation, which is really easy! tests are ok, he's not too clear on what you should study though. if you participate in class you'll love it!
I had him for history, he is a very nice guy, I just wasn't very focused. He has a paper due every class period and if you miss more than 5 days you will not receive a credit. One of my favorite teachers. pretty easy just stay focus and write the papers and you will pass easily.
I loved Brother Williams! He has a great sense of humor! You have to do a paper for every class that requires quite a bit of reading, but he gives you full credit as long as your paper is a full page. The two first exams were hard, but the final was just a two page research paper on a subject related to FDAMF.
He is a great teacher. There's a paper due every class and he tries to keep it under a page. Each class he tries to find a song that's appropriate to the subject, opening up new songs.
Bro. Williams is a great teacher! I felt like he did a good job of pulling out gospel principles from each reading assignment. Each night we had a few chapters to read and then a 1 page paper typed. The hw was a little time consuming but helped better my understanding of the BOM and helped prepare me for class. He appreciates class participation.
easy, and funny
Bro Williams is AWESOME :) i love his class and always walk away feeling good and excited to apply the principles he taught in class to my life. TAKE HIS CLASS
Never answered any of my emails. Pretty easy assignments
I'm pretty sure he is an amazing religion teacher. He also does his very best for AMF but he kinda overdoes the religion porportion for a non-religion class. His assignments are usually easy (but the TA grades, so you never get feedback). His doesn't like technology in his class at all, which is okay. Cares for his students.
He is really nice, and as long as you make sure you are there every day and ALWAYS do the homework, its an easy A! Its also a really good idea to have a printer for his class: he requires a hardcopy for every assignment.
Bro. Williams is great. He really knows his way around the scriptures, and he is willing to answer any question about them. He's pretty funny too, but be ready to be teased a little bit. The workload is exceedingly simple, just a measly assignment for each class period, then a relatively simple final exam. You will enjoy the class if you are awake!
Was not lenient with late work policy, very judgmental.
He is one of the best religion teacher I`ve had. Make sure you attend every class and participate. He makes it pretty clear what is expected from you to get A in his class. ALWAYS do your homework and you are good.
Bro. Williams is hilarious! Each class you have to bring a hardcopy paper, but it's really easy. Bro. Williams is really funny, but he also teaches with the Spirit, which make his class great. He is also willing to help you outside of class if you need help or are confused about something. Biggest thing-don't be late and don't miss a paper!
What an amazing teacher! He was funny and always had a great attitude! Very willing to help and a very spiritual man! He requires a hard copy of the assignment.
Brother Williams really knows what he's talking about, but no teacher makes you do as much work as Brother Williams. He also has a monotone voice, so I can't even count the number of times I fell asleep in that class. Expect to spend hours on your homework. As long as you show up and do your homework, it is a guaranteed A+.
He is amazing. Brother Williams is energetic and funny, he really cares about all of the students! You are almost guaranteed an A if you do all the assignments and are not late to class.
Brother Williams is an excellent Book of Mormon teacher. He teaches with the spirit and makes class enjoyable too. Humble yet powerful in teaching, and not overly strict, and can be fun. Cares about his students. I loved having him and every time I left his class I felt motivated to be better and use the lessons I just learned.
Brother Williams is amazing. His class made you think but was easy. He had a great balance of fun and learning. He definitely taught with the spirit. I will take classes from him again if I get the chance.
Brother Williams is a great teacher. The downside is that he does not allow the use of technology in class.
Bro Williams is a great teacher. I learned a lot and it was an easy A. However, I thought that he was boring and the classes seemed to last for years lol. I wish he would spice up the classes somehow. No electronics policy so you must have your scriptures every day and also must bring a hard copy of your assignment each day. Overall easy!
Bro. Williams is hilarious! The class is super easy too, you just have to do a one-page paper per class period and you'll get an A. He makes class super funny and has got a great sense of humor. I would definitely take him again!
Brother Williams is a great professor. He's both witty and insightful. I have learned so much! Being in his class is a privilege!
Bro. Williams was amazingly spiritual. He cares deeply about his students, and by the end of the semester his class is like his family. He still stops me to say hi on campus and ask about my family. An amazing teacher who truly wants to see his students succeed. One of the BEST teachers at BYUI hands down. Not a hard class at all.
NO TESTS! WOO!! Not even a final! The only homework is reading before class and the questions he posts on I-Learn. He is extremely nice and guaranteed to choke up, or cry every class. His testimony is so strong. If you want a religion professor who loves what he teaches, TAKE BRO. WILLIAMS!!
Brother Williams is a really chill teacher. He's one you can joke around with, and have a good time with in class. He will answer any question you have, no matter how complicated or weird the question may be. But, do expect to have a paper due each class. Attendance is VERY important.
don't do it.
Bro. Williams is a great teacher. His classes are interesting and you only write a one page paper for each class. Bro. Williams will lecture for a good portion of the class time, but there will be compelling discussions and questions will be answered. This was by far my favorite class this semester!
Brother Williams was by far one of my favorite religion teachers. Very kind, and knowledgeable. He never went off on tangents or got off subject. The work load is very light, and theres no final. He just wants you to grow and learn by the Spirit. His class was full of great discussion. He truly cares about all of his students.
He's my favorite REL teacher so far. The coursework is straightforward, just bring the homework to class and participate. His lessons are focused and he does a good job at stating things clearly and simply. I would highly recommend taking him.
Brother Williams is a wonderful man. He really interacts well with his students and his love for the Gospel really shows in the way he presents everything. His whole goal is for you to become a better disciple of Christ. Take the assignments seriously so you can get something out of them and I promise you will love his class. Great man, truly.
Great professor. Brother Williams gives out great lectures and doctrinal inspirations. I definitely recommend his class.
Brother Williams is so caring and wants students to be successful. He makes sure that every student understand the material.
Brother Williams is the best religion teacher I've had here. He really brings the Spirit into lessons, and the homework (readings + a one page paper every class period answering a few questions) really helps you to get something out of every class period. Only drawback: classes are meant to be discussions but end up lectures, haha.
Professor Williams was not my favorite because he could unintentionally make you feel like you should already know something. His lectures were slightly boring. His class is an easy A.
We had to read a lot in his class.. we read a very controversial church history book.. and you could tell he came to class prepared to help us with any questions we had. The lectures were set up different every day. Amazing teacher
best teacher ever to teach
Brother Williams is a true example of what it means to be an LDS member! I am a convert and he made me realized how kind and humble a human being can be, he is perfect for this course, he doesn't judge us for our past, he tries to save the best of each of us and he was really patient and thoughtful, I wish I could have him in all my religion classe
Look, Brother Williams is a great guy and potentially a great teacher. But he ends up spending most of the class period rambling on about stuff, and because it's a religion class you'll have the same 4 people make 5-minute-long comments every class, and he doesn't do anything to stop it. Great material and subject, not-so-great organization.
This class was just your run of the mill online religion class, I didn't have too much contact with Brother Williams since this was an online class, but I did email him once during the semester and he answered back within 1 day. He also commented on a couple of my discussion boards. Seems like a great guy.
Really good guy, funny and interesting. Just do the one page papers and that is literally all you have to do for this class. No quizzes or tests, easy A. Pretty typical religion class, I feel like. Good teacher, I would recommend him. No extra credit or anything offered, just do the papers.
Brother Williams is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is so caring and funny and is always looking out for his students. I've taken so many classes from him and I can honestly say that he is one of the few professors who genuinely cares about your well-being and is willing to help you in any way. If you don't take him, you're missing out
Great teacher! Goes the extra mile to answer questions and is inspiring. Assignments are not difficult and assignments are due they same days every week.
I loved Brother Williams' class. I enjoyed his insights and the lessons that he gave. Since it was the BOM class, we drew from there a lot.
Bro Williams is a great and caring teacher! He teaches by the Spirit and gives great lectures! The only work you do is a one page paper due each class. They are really easy and exact instructions are included. If you follow it you will get a 100. This isn't a class you want to skip though- He's strict with attendance as well as no technology.
Love Brother Williams. One of the best teachers that I have ever been blessed to have!
Brother Williams is an amazing professor! Super funny guy. His class consists of deep, thought-provoking discussions based off of short to moderately short out-of-class reading assignments. Your grade is determined by your attendance and completion of the reading assignments, as well as a short written assignment to accompany them. Not hard at all.
Brother Williams has an amazing testimony and love of the gospel! His lectures were inspiring, and it was nice to hear other student's experiences and inputs. His class is easy; you read the assigned sections and do a study guide where you answer questions. Be ready to learn more about D&C and what historical and doctrinal truths are in it!
He's a nice guy, he just tends to stick too much to his lesson plan, without being very willing to stop and talk about questions people have, especially if it isn't a part of his lesson plan. His teaching style is also very lecture heavy. He will also stop class to call people out on their phones. (which I don't agree with, should be privately)
When you sincerely ask a question that you do not know, but want to know more about, he acts like you should already now the answer and responds in a demeaning way that makes you feel stupid and like a terrible student learner.
Assigns TONS of reading assignments that are speculation articles for the most part. He goes into the touchy subjects of the Early Church and never really explains anything or gives real answers to questions. Mostly just makes one question whether the church is even true after all the controversial reading. Grading is super unclear as well.
Brother Williams was an awesome professor for Teachings of the Book of Mormon! His system is straightforward and easy to stay on top of. He asks you to fill out a study guide based on the chapters before class and then take notes in class and submit them as well. Lots of good topics and fun classes!
Nate Williams doesn't respond at all to the needs of online students. He teaches in person on campus, as well as online. It seems he puts all of his effort into his in person classes and doesn't bother showing up for online students beyond grading and offering a couple of comments on one or two assignments throughout the whole semester.
Did not get much out of class, Very lecture heavy so if thats for you then this would be good, notes were required every single day from the lecture even when little was actually taught. I feel like the amount of work I put in and the grade I earned were not equal. It seems other students did not have the same problem so take it for what its worth
If you want to learn about the book of Mormon this isn't the class for you this teacher talks about a lot of fluff and not a lot of facts. Not to mention the home work int long but it's pinfull I find myself using a lot of filler words about BS, which isn't something I like to do when it comes to religion but that's what he's wanting.
Brother Williams is a nice guy, but this class has officially turned me away from doing in-person religion. Williams was a previous High school seminary teacher and carries a lot of that still. He will passively aggressively tell you to put your phone away if you look at it for 2 seconds, and will also make comments about your attendance publicly.
I really enjoy the content and information taught. Brother Williams has lots of great insights and a strong testimony. The homework was way easy. The only complaint is Brother Williams tends to lecture the entire class which can make one drowsy.
His lectures focus much less on the doctrine and much more on what purpose Mormon or Moroni had in writing, not as much on the fundamental doctrines in the BOM. It was interesting, but not important. He also is terrible at working with students if you miss class for any reason or cant turn in work. He will ask you to email him but never respond.
He asked students to email him about important things, but he never responded or was so late to reply. He did not care about students. If you can not attend his class because of sickness, he does not care about it for attendance grade regardless of the grade being a big portion. He cut some points if you are late in 5 minutes. I do not recommend u
He makes you feel bad for not coming to class and takes long to respond to emails. claims this is the easiest A but when I submit my notes late he doesn't give me back the points or work with me. he is very strict on rules, late work. It feels more letter of the law than spirit. He doesn't ask inspiring questions or make you feel heard or validated
I would never recommend this professor to anybody. He is not understanding, cannot make up assignments in his class and even if you have a good excuse from being absent he is still going to use the absence against you and he likes calling people out in class which is not only petty but also unnecessary. Please don't take this professors classes.
This professor is not one that I would take again. He lectures the entire time and it gets very boring and hard to follow. I did not learn much. I also was gone for a few days because I was sick and I let him know but my grade still was dropped down to a B- from an A.
Just an overall great teacher.
The professor has a strict teaching style that can make the class feel dry. While the reading assignments are challenging, using resources like unstuckstudy can help with study prep. Overall, the class is manageable with consistent effort.
I'm sure Brother Williams is a nice man outside of teaching, but He is not understanding regarding attendance and will drop your grade even if its an excused absence. He made passive aggressive comments to me several times about attendance and wearing sweatpants to this early class. Do not take him if you can help it.
Brother Williams is an amazing teacher! He cares more about helping his students understand important doctrine than assigning homework or other assignments. He is very respectful when talking about difficult/uncomfortable topics and you can tell he cares about all of his students. I would definitely take another religion class from him!
I was worried about taking a class from Brother Williams based on these ratings, but I really did not need to be! Brother Williams is great! He is a caring professor who knows a lot about his topics. He does a great job of approaching difficult topics with caution but also not afraid to say the facts and what happened. I learned a lot!
