This teacher is very unclear. He does make sure that you pass the class, but it's very hard to ask for help. If you don't know what you're doing, he kind of makes you feel embarrassed and stupid.
As long as you do the work passing shouldn't be a problem. His explanations are clear and he will work with you duirng his office.
He's a real cool guy, but sometimes the stuff is a little fuzy to me. Maybe it's just that I'm bad at math. Easy A though.
hes a really cool teacher... he tries to his best ability to help the students... easy class with no "collected" hw. i htought it was real easy
Mr. Hall really knows his stuff. If you have trouble you should try to ask him because he can help you even if you wait to go to his office. He made me understand math.
I really wasn't looking forward to taking this class but mr.hall made it fun. He relly makes the extra effort to help his students understand and pass the class. main thing=just go and try and you should pass. he's always willing to help even at the last minute. you just have to ask. :)
hes really cool! i loved his class and it was really easy too! he tries his best to make sure all his students pass and is really helpful. he doesnt collect the hw but its a good idea to do em kuz they usually mirror the quizzes... REALLY RECOMMEND HIM!
BIG NATE IS ONE OF THE BEST MATH TEACHERS I EVER HAD! I HAD A LOT OF FUN IN HIS CLASS AND HE TAUGHT ME A LOT. HE WAS VERY CLEAR IN EVERTHING AND HE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP ANYONE! HE IS THE BEST!

i love math
Great teacher! he's really helpful and always helps you out if you have any problems. collects homework and gives out extra credit when you least expect it. Makes the class fun :)
he is an awesome prof
great teacher and helps out with pretty much whatever you need
very kind teacher who will help you anytime you have question. work hard and study!
coolest teacher ever. its a 5 unit course but he makes the class so easy and so fun that it feels like youre just taking a 1 unit course..... getting an A is easy if you do your HW! Finals is not that difficult. i am not that smart but i ace his finals.....
He gives out extra credit, which helps. He is friendly and cares about his students! He will help you any time.
Hes a good teacher im currently in his class hes very helpful and easy to understand i wish i had him in my past math class i think it would have went better.
He is aMAAAAAAAAAAzinggg!
great teacher made going to class fun. easy on the homework and made class as short as possible.
Best teacher in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD! BUT DONT YOU DARE petition his class!! He will not let you! little homework, but very meaningful!! Attendance is not mandatory but I highly suggest you go everyday because what he teaches in class is usually on the test. If your late, it is a crack up, thats all I will say. Oh yeah, and AMMMAAAAZZZIIINNGG!
Prof. Hall is the BEST prof at CSUF..he is extremly helpful, caring, and motivating..we will go the extra mile to help you.. he is always available for office hours and will help you until the end to make sure you understand the material...Prof Hall is an extraordinary human being that truly enjoys teaching..study groups help with the material!!
He is AMAAAAAZING!!!! Great teacher, really cares, will help you all the way til the end of the semester. Go to his office hours, and do your hwk! Quirky, funny, and down to earth, you'll LOVE his class. Failed this class twice before and passed w/ almost an A.
If you need business calc, take this class!! This guy is awesome. As long as you put some effort, you will pass.
AMMAAAZZZING!! You will not find a better professor for this course. Period. Join his sections or you will miss out. His tests are based on homework, do your work and you'll pass. If you don't you'll get MINUS TEN!!
Mr. Hall is a great teacher no matter what! He cares about the students and takes the time to teach. You need to know your algebra before this class because he doesnt really go over it. He figures if you're there, and you study and do hw you can pass the class. The hw questions show up on test and the final. Test are 10 questions and so is final.
One of the best teachers at CSUF! He's very helpful and understanding. Easy A! Take him! Go to his office hours. He enjoys the company and takes notice of the effort that you put to come for help.
Ok, although I failed the class (my freshmen year, I was lazy... what can I say), I would highly recommend this professor. He is witty, knowledgeable, and knows how to handle jokes while focusing on the curriculum. His explanations are clear, and his examples are interesting, while still makes your think and learn. This is one good professor, take
VERY COOL TEACHER! Hehe you'll remember "AMAZING!!!!!" His teaching style is very clear. Just do your hw. Ask him whenever your confused, he is very helpful! His office hours are cool too, specially if you just wanna chill. He is funny and such a great teacher! Ask him about sum internet games. lol
Ok Im late on the rating but he is a cool prof. Obviously I didnt pass, but hey third times the charm right? Wish I had studied harder bc he is a lot easier than the guy I have now. Take him and go to his office hours. He helps a lot.
He is an awesome teacher. quizzes are based on hw and are given each week, which is cool b/c it lets the students realize if they really understand the material or not(i think it's only 5% of your grade). Tests and final are based on hw as well so if you can do the hw, you are fine. He doesn't give a load of hw either, usually 4-7 problems. It's
He's a great teacher! You can tell that he really loves what he's doing. He learned EVERYONE'S name within two weeks. He's really personable and is really excited about math and teaching it. He's quick to help out anyone and loves taking questions. He also sounds like kermit the frog!!!
Mr hall is awesome! he makes the class so fun and enjoyable to be in. there is hw but only a few problems per night and then the study guides are exactly like the test. VERY EASY!!! seriously! he is funny and has some of the best sayings like "aammmaaazzzinngg" and "1.1 jiga watts" or my fav "Ohhhh boyyyyyyy" He is a great teacher and great person
mr. hall is super cool and chill!! he is ALWAYS willing to help you when you need it, just go to office hours, they help =) i spent a lot of time studying for this class, but it paid off! even though sometimes i don't know what's going on.. he ends up clarifying it for me! he's amazing :D woot and he can tell you which cheap games to play :)
Mr. Hall is a cool teacher. Even though you have to work hard in the class, he helps whoever comes by during his office hours. I recommend this professor to those you will be taking Math 125.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!!Prof. Hall IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! He is very nice, funny, and helpful. Also very generous when grading. Class, quizzes, and tests are super easy, watch out for the final it's nothing like the class, and he doesn't prepare you for it! but over all great teacher and class. and he reminded me of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory! haha
Class was difficult but anytime I had a question Mr. Hall answered it. Very helpful in his office hours. Exams require you to really think.
Don't take him if you are a procrastinator. Cramming for his exams does not work! He expects you to understand and practice the material.
makes the tests easier if someone complains hard enough.
This was one of my favorite classes last semester! He really challenged me and went the extra mile to help me understand the material. Very helpful in office hours and always replied to emails quickly.
Difficult if you don't pay attention or study outside of class. I worked 30-40 hours a week so didn't have enough time to study for this class. It was hard for me to know what was going to be on the test since I barely went to class.
Amaaazing!Seriously, these people who are complaining probably never did their work. If you go to class, spend time outside of class, and study for tests, then you'll do fine. He is very funny and easy to talk to, especially during office hours.
Excellent professor! He's a funny guy, and easy to talk to, although I rarely had questions after the lecture. If you attend class and pay attention, you will do well - if not, you will probably fail.
He's a witty character and tries to make the class interesting. He is a rather harsh grader and seems to love to take points off in quiz/tests for the smallest things if it's not the way he wants. I do think the difficulty of the class comes more from the subject (Calculus) than the teacher's actual teaching style though.
Friendly and funny guy. He barely gives out homework and tests are somewhat easy (if you actually understood what was going on), but for this class, at least, his lectures weren't clear most of the time (the textbook was just as unclear). Advice for MATH270A students: get a tutor or do the homework incessantly until you completely understand it.
Haha some advice! I think most of us know that homework is how you practice and LEARN the material...his lectures were very clear and he always told us exactly what he wanted. There were a few times I had a question but I just asked in class...no need for a tutor. I guess if you were really slow you could go to his office.
He is a great teacher. All his lectures were clear, and if you actually attend class every time then you will have an easy time with this class. I highly recommend him because he makes the course interesting and easy to understand
Super cute and funny! Hes happy to help go through the notes and homework at his office hours, I reccomend going to them just to do the homework or say hello. The homework is annoying cause its online but the tests are clear, do the study guide.
He's a great professor with a passion for math. He tries his best to explain everything and welcomes any questions. The online homework is easy and convenient. I never even opened the book. The tests may be difficult but he has you practice similar problems in class prior to the exam, just pay attention. I'm taking him again for 150B this year :)
very helpful if you ask for help and he is really nice. he is funny in a dorky way and is always smiling and has a real passion for math. i would recommend him for anybody. and he uses sarcasm like stewie from family guy and sounds a little like mr. maky from south park
Highly recommend! He makes class fun and goes in depth with the class notes. He tells you what to study and what to expect on quizzes (sometimes). He's willing to answer questions and help students out. Would take him again.
Lecture style is difficult to follow.
I highly recommend Mr. Hall. His passion for the subject was refreshing and he really knows his stuff. He speaks clearly, grades quickly, and is well organized. Just show up to class, take notes, do the homework, and ask for help when needed. It's a hard class but Mr. Hall is a good teacher and dedicated to helping his students.
This is very, very hard class, but this professor, makes it look so easy. He provides good explenations, he also teaches some of the basic stuff when you forget. He is GREAT. Don't get me wrong, the subject is hard so you must study and do your homework. if you fail the class, it is not his fault. For sure !!!
THE best prof I've had here! He's super helpful and very easy to approach. Tests are VERY straightforward. I definitely recommend him!
Very helpful and super nice. Always willing to answer any questions I had. I love how he writes on a tablet with the projector so we can clearly see what he is writing. My last prof always stood in front of what he wrote so it was hard to see.
Lecture style is hard to follow. Not helpful and unclear. My review is not consistent with the other reviews but this is my experience.
Mr. Hall is one of the best math professors at CSUF. I took him for 250B and believe me this class was not easy at all be he was extremely helpful during office hours and tried to make things as clear as possible. There are weekly quizzes and a total of 4 exams i believe and one final. I ended up with a B+ in the class but you MUST review everyday.
Lecture style was hard to follow in 150A.
Hall was straight cool. His lectures were super organized and he always dropped us hints for quizzes and exams. If you ever have a question just ask. He had no problem answering my questions when I needed help. Really nice in office hours.
Amazing teacher. Really wants you to succeed. Highly recommend him.
He is an AMAZING teacher. He gives a good hints before exams and be sure to attend to the review class before any test. He did a good curve in two exams out of four. Also, he did another AMAZING curve in the end of the semester
One of the best math professors I've ever taken!!!
Would definitely recommend!
Professor Hall is seriously the BEST professor I've had for my freshmen year. He's a great math professor and he's really patient when it comes to questions. Definitely visit him during office hours if you're struggling. He truly wants you to succeed.
This guy is totally into math and really wants to see us succeed. He really needs to get a life outside of teaching. I would say this guy is a total geek, if not for the fact that he helped me to finally get math.
Seriously my favorite professor ever!
He very enthusiastic about his job. He's very hyper. However, during his lectures he sometimes jumps ahead and skips steps as if everyone one knows what is going on. He also makes you feel stupid if you ask questions. If you don't understand his lectures, the quizzes and exams will be hard.
The best professor I have taken at CSUF. Very clear with the lectures and is always willing to help. I was at his office hours the entire semester. Very nice and very funny too. Keeps the class's attention. Do study the material regularly and ask for help when you need it! He will not advance until everyone understands the topic. Would take again!
Mr. Hall will do whatever it takes to make sure you understand the material. You can tell he loves math and is excited to teach it. He can be pretty easy going. There isn't that much homework and there are only 3 tests and the final. He has weekly writing assignments but those are easy. Department head writes the final, so beware. It's challenging.
Hall is one of the best math professors at CSUF. He really care about his job and he wont stop until you know the subject. He is always in his office. He says a lot of unusual but funny sayings. Class consists of online homework, simple writing assignments, and three tests (HE WRITES THE TEST) and ONE CUMULITIVE FINAL WHICH IS HARD. TAKE HALL
Honestly, hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. He's super clear and teaches every step so you must tattoo it in your mind. Come to his office hours a lot and he's very helpful. He can help you with any math class. I seriously think he's the smartest teacher ever. His tests were mostly the examples we did in class so you have to pass!
you need to run like a bullet train during exams. Because in a short time you need to do a lot.
He is a hilarious guy, i'll give him that. He always tries to lighten the mood with his jokes and he is great at breaking down the lectures to a point where we understand. He doesn't move on until most of get it (does various problems). The only downside is the homework we do doesn't get graded so your grade doesn't raise as much. Stilla fun class
He is quite the character (in a good way) His class can be tough at time but if you visit during office hours he will be able to clarify. He sincerely care about his students learning the material.
His the BEST MATH TEACHER @ CSUF
His lecturing style is very clear, structured, and organized. His exams are a breeze if you study your notes and do your online homework. He is very helpful in office hours. He does give partial credit on exams and does a great job of emphasizing on the questions that he will most likely put on the exam. Overall, he is a really great professor.
Expects you to memorize every formula and truth table, a cumulative final in that class blows because nearly every chapter is completely different and its basically memorization because there are so many problems with many different ways that you have to learn to solve. He expects you to put more time in for his class then all others put togethe
Prof Hall is straightforward & approachable. We have weekly quizzes and exams which are based from the online homework or the notes in class. If you take the homework seriously and study well before an exam, there shouldn't be an issue with getting @ least a B-. You can email him questions regarding hw and he is bound to reply within 48 hours.
Really funny professor! Studying is a must, notes are directly from the textbook but he does give some problems that are his own. Some of the problems on the midterms and weekly quizzes are from hw & notes. The final was really hard, throughout the year he told us what problems were going to be exactly on it but none were.
By far the most difficult class Ive ever had. He explains everything very well and takes the time to answer questions. He really tries to make sure everyone in class understands the concepts before moving forward. Exams are hard, you need to know each concept perfectly and fly like a bat out of hell just to finish and pass. Will take again 4 sure
Pretty funny guy, knows what he's doing. Teaches well. Do the homework and you'll be fine for the tests
Probably the best math prof for this course. Very approachable. If you care, you'll pass. Exams: do ch. reviews, redo all example problems, & review all hw. Fair warning: start studying early for exams at least a week before. Don't expect to pass by showing up occasionally. Otherwise, you're gonna need to be ready for a miracle.
Mr. Hall is a pretty good professor. His lectures are decent and homework is easy. I did take 270A as a freshman when I should have waited so it was a hard class. He's a tough grader but he is kind and respectful. He makes some jokes and it's funny because of his quirkiness but he means well. Go to office hours!! And always ask questions!!
I would avoid this professor at all costs for Math 270A. He primarily focuses on proofs, he is a very strict grader, and does not give enough time on exams. You need to put a lot of time and effort into this class for a decent grade.
He is very RUDE !!!!!!. He thinks he knows a lot! he is very tough grader .
If you ACTUALLY do all the hw and go to every class you can pass. Hall does a clear job of teaching and is more than ready to help anyone as long as they put in the effort. The main take away is this.. If you put in the effort, Hall will do the rest. This is such a mentally challenging class but Hall is a SOLID teacher so literally just try.
Hall is a really good professor. He is able to effectively explain the concepts in 270A. 270A is not your usual math class and shouldn't be underestimated in it's difficulty; the class contains a ton of material. Most of his quizzes and exam questions are derived from the homework that is optional, but highly recommended if you want to succeed.
would not recommend him as a teacher... definitely not retaking this class with him.
The class itself is graded by very few things. Most of the weight of the grade comes from 2 exams and a final. The prof himself is very talented, and can teach well, however he con sometimes come of condescending , though I don't think his intent was to put people down. Much of his exam Q's come from homework and in class problems. Would recommend.
His teaching methods are precise and straight to the point; he only requires you to read his lecture notes and not the textbook (great!). As long as you do your homework, and KNOW HOW TO DO them before the quizzes/test, you would be fine. His paper is not out to kill someone if you UNDERSTAND the methods to solve the problems.
He was a very respected person. Sometimes he would go quickly through material he thought the class should be able to understand clearly. So you have to be able to tell him he needs to slow down when you need him to. And be ready to study. He definitely has a personality. Overall, yes, I would take him again.
Great Professor. If you got him you are lucky. He is great at explaining concepts, makes the class straightforward and has enough of a sense of humor to keep you interested. I wish he could teach all of my classes.
This professor is amazing, and I was glad to have him for 270B. The material is abundant, and sometimes he may go though it quickly, but if you ask him questions, hell definitely answer them in a way that youll understand. You can tell that this professor cares about his students, and his humor and jokes in the morning keep the class awake!
He is honestly a great prof but you really need to come to class because the class itself is extremely difficult if you aren't there. He doesn't post the notes so you need to come but textbook is free and posted online. You have two midterms (worth 25% each) and one final worth 25% while quizzes are worth 15% and homework is only 10%.
Professor Hall is a great professor. Write down everything he puts on the board. Tests for this class were challenging, however, he sometimes curve quizzes/tests/final. He has a great sense of humor. He gives out practice worksheets for some of the exams. If you listen in class, understand the homework, and study you will be fine. Would recommend.
Professor Hall did a great job teaching the concepts. Discrete Math is not an easy concept, but he cares for his students that show up to his class. Many students in one section did not show up, therefore they did not pass this class. He definitely is approachable during his office hours. He can be a tough grader at times too.
A good professor. the text is free and used rarely, notes are enough. quizzes every other week(6 total). manditory HW(10 total). He is kinda quirky and has a nice sense of humor. As long as you pay attention and ask questions you will do fine. I would take him for 270B but its a lotto in terms of registration. The 3 exams are like the HW good luck!
The professor lectures in a simple and helpful way. If you go to lecture and do your homework as soon as possible, you will pass the class. The class is not difficult, but there is a ton of information thrown at you that you have to remember. The textbook is free and provided by professor on Titanium.
This is one of the best math professors I've had at CSUF! He made the transition to online easy this semester. His tests are very challenging, so make sure you know the material. There are 3 quizzes, each one a week before the exam. He tends to curve quizzes if the class average is low. I hope to take him again in the future!
professor hall is a very good professor the class itself is very tough but he always found a way to make his students understand. there's always a quiz a week before the exam and usually curves exam and quizzes if averages are low. The transition to online was easy but the test got harder since they're open notes and we had all day to complete it
Prof Hall is one of the most caring professor in the math department. Hes rooting for you but you gotta put in the work. He makes asking questions so comfortable and is really good at helping explain concepts as simply as possible. Do your hw and put in some genuine study time and youll be fine.
Professor Hall is a decent guy that teaches a difficult subject. The best way to do well in this class is to get study buddies asap. He expects you to understand everything after one read-through for each section. A lot of time is needed for this class so be prepared to just study for a few hours every day just for this class.
As long as you do the work then you will get a good grade. Great professor!
Professor Hall is by far one of my favorite math professors I've ever hadand I've taken over 7 math courses since starting college. He's kind, interactive, energetic, and he wants you to do well. His exams are very straightforward, nothing too intense, he just wants you to know the basics and a little more; same with quizzes. Take him if you can!
So glad I took Professor Hall's class! He is a very kind, caring, and funny guy who will push you to do well. Very straightforward and organized class. Tells you exactly what you need to do to succeed in his class. One of the better professors I've ever taken. Highly recommended.
Amazing professor, very enthusiastic with the material. Uses lyryx for both hw, quiz, and exams so you can expect to see the same questions across. The course is a little difficult, you will have to study a lot for an A.
Great Professor that really cares about what he's teaching and how he's teaching it. The online homework system (LYRYX) can be a bit frustrating/tedious at times but it's very helpful in practicing the problems and gives you a very good idea on what will be on the exam since questions are taken from there. Also is generous with partial credit too!
Best math professor you will ever have. Genuine and funny guy. It is a hard class so you do need to study but all of the questions come straight from the homework.
Amazing professor! His lectures are delivered in an easy to understand and enthusiastic manner. Most of your grade is made up of exams so make sure you ace the midterms to solidify your grade before the final. Highly recommend taking Prof. Hall if you want an enjoyable & challenging math course.
Professor Hall is one of the best professors to take for this course. His lectures are clear and easy to follow. Do the Homework, practice the problems and you will do good in the exams.
Professor Hall is the best professor I have ever had for any subject. He's very caring, energetic, and you can see he's very passionate about what he does. He is always very attentive to questions, and gives very straightforward exams/quizzes directly from the homework. Simply do your homework, show up, participate, and you'll be perfectly fine.
Super funny, answers questions, and curves and gives partial credits on the exams. You do need to study a lot and do the homework, but he tells you exactly what to expect on exams! overall a positive experience he really encourages everyone to learn and succeed
Idk why this prof has so many good reviews? My experience in this class has been one of the worst experiences at CSUF. Very passive aggressive, makes fun of students when asking questions about something that was (briefly) covered, and reads off the very dense notes word for word makes little attempt to explain further. Tests are not comprehensive.
Literally he is the best professor I ever have so far. Everything on the quizzes or exams are the same as what he teach. Sometimes, he pull over the same problems in your note, so review them before the test. He is an easy grader, he gives many partial credit. Also, I go to his class everyday and ended a B+ but he curves me to an A.
Print the PDF before hand. Notes are fast but doable if you have the printed pdf. Hall will tell you exactly whats on the quiz by saying. "Hmm, that would be a great test question." and gives a huge smile and a nod. There are no surprises. Hall makes a difficult subject doable by being methodical and organized. Best Professor I have EVER had
His lectures were fast paced which sometimes made it difficult to understand a section. He used Lyryx to teach and personally, I think it's a horrible e-textbook. He only teach the class how to do the example problems in the notes rather than the actual homework problems. If you want to pass quizzes and tests, you must understand homework problems.
He used Lyryx to teach and its notes were terrible. His way of teaching was to read off Lyryx's notes word by word. The notes felt so disconnected to the actual homework problems. I think it would be much better if he was to use the homework problems rather than examples from the notes. If you want do well on quizzes/exams, do/study the homework.
This is one of those courses where you learn the material before class and then ask questions and do practice exercises during class instead of a lecture. I don't prefer this style but this course wasn't complicated enough for that to matter. The exam questions are straight from the in class exercises with the same numbers, so make sure to show up.
Overall he's alright, he scaled down everything, as long as you take all the notes and show up to all the class, you'll be fine
He is a great professor but this is by no means an easy course. You have to show up to every lecture because the notes taken are all important. If you miss a day you gotta get the notes from a classmate. The homework is very easy, the quizzes and exams are replicas of the notes. B careful on the final exam since he gives the most forgotten problems
This was by far 1 of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I ended with a C and so much respect for Mr. Hall. He clearly cares about his students and their success in addition to the topic. His lectures are informative and far from boring. If you want an easy A stay away, but if you're looking to challenge yourself and learn; Hr. Hall is your guy
This class is a lot of work but just put it in and you are good.
The best professor ever! If you like to study and want to get a good grade this professor is for you. But you should be ready to study hard. Quizzes and exams are based on notes from the class, so attendance is mandatory. He explains very clearly. If there are some questions, he is ready to help.
Amazing guy! Explains concepts and definitions really well, great sense of humor, approachable, not too much homework, patient. Says that he loves when students ask him questions. Very quirky, but I dig it. Must take if you're in computer science/engineering.
AMAZINGGGGGGGGG
Materials for 170 is hard overall, one thing is if you want to pass the class SHOW UP TO CLASS!!! He's an easy teacher and is willing to help you if you ever need. I basically lived in his office hours cause I had a hard time understanding the lessons but he guided me through everything and was very easy to talk to.
AMAZING professor. Attendance is not graded, however, it'd be difficult to pass if you don't show up. His lectures are amazing, and his notes are easy to follow. Homework and quizzes are due every week. (And both follow what was learned in class.) TIP: When studying for exams, study the lectures notes and homework. DON'T JUST RELY ON THE QUIZZES.
During lecture, he would basically tell us what problems we will see on the quiz/exams. Attendance isn't "mandatory", but it's so helpful to go to class. You will know exactly what to expect on the exams and it makes studying so much easier. For the final, we knew about 70% of the questions that he was gonna ask us. Go to class!
You will either love or hate his strong personality. His class and final were too fast-paced. He is very knowledgeable and encourages emails. I suggest going to class for quizzes and for hints about exams. Also, make sure to do well on his first two exams, as his final was hard. He luckily curved that one. He was okay, but you need to work hard.
If you are attending and paying attention you will no doubt pass this class. He is constantly giving hints about what will be on quizzes and exams. He lays out exactly how he expects things to be solved and if you practice from the notes you have everything you need. He is also super helpful during office hours. Absolutely recommend.
This course is technically designed for CS majors. He is a really tough grader since he set expectations based on math major standards. Don't be surprised if you know how to solve every question and still get marked down heavily. Only take him if you demand challenges in terms of mathematical details without given much time to do so during tests.
This class is somewhat difficult, but Professor Hall is a great teacher. If you follow along all of the lectures and do the homework, you will have no problem passing the class. Tests are difficult, but he is very clear what will be on them, so it is easy to study!
Prof Hall's class is challenging, but engaging lectures and helpful study tools like unstuckstudy made it manageable. Attend class, read the textbook, and focus on homework to succeed. Not an easy A, but worth the effort to learn.
If you show up to class and do your homework, you will get an A. He literally gives out free test questions during lectures before exams AND an absurd amount of extra credit. Lectures can be boring but he does offer office hours and responds quickly to emails.
This class is hard by no means, but he literally is amazing. I would disregard the bad reviews because I guarantee you those are the people that either 1. never show up to class or 2. never take notes. All his test are straight from your notes and, he will gradually start giving test and finals answers on review days. Show up to class!!!
Hes a nice prof just like many said there. This class is basically 250B but without the calculus part so if you already passed 250B for whatever reason, this class will be a cakewalk. Btw, given how this course isn't designed for math majors but compsci/compeng majors, I don't really think the syllabus should include set proofs.
Super nice, caring, gentle-spoken person. My class used to talk the entire time and he just let them. I talked to him and he will help you if you ask! One of the best professors here. 10/10
Leaves u guessing on what's going to be on his quizzes and exams if you ask him what's going to be on them. quizzes and exams are not comprehensive to the homework or lectures. Expects u to learn the more complicated questions on your own. No study guides, no review sessions. We were still learning new content on the week before finals.
Just be prepared for lots and lots of hours on studying since the professor would essentially riddle clues for what's to be ahead . Very demoralizing when it comes to his in person lectures after results are not what professor might expect as he lowers students how in having a better chance for the future.
A challenging course, but if you put in the work you will probably have the success that I did. So many of my classmates hardly showed up and it cost them big time because they had no idea what was going to be on the quizzes or exams. I showed up every day and knew exactly what to expect. GO TO CLASS and ask questions!
YO!!! Mr. Hall!! That's slay! I followed your suggestions and turned my F to a C!! Mad respect. Never give up fam!! All I can say is listen to what he is telling you and you got this!
There are better teachers you can possibly take for Math 170A, makes you feel slow when you ask question. Dont expect a high grade and if you think you'll miss at least one class, AVOID THIS ONE! Homework does not help at all even though it costed $200 to even access it in the first place. Mess up on one test and you're doomed
