He is a great teacher. He knows all about his subject. He tells you the things that you need to know and gives GREAT notes. I would show up to his class because he gives pop quizes on random days to give the people that show up extra points. His tests are a little hard, but they are definitely fair. If you study you should do fine. GREAT GUY!
This was a support elective course that sounded interesting to me. He makes the course very easy to follow and has everything well mapped out for his students. Although the text clarifies quite a bit, attendance is mandatory b/c this is the material that will appear on tests. He is very enthusiastic about the subject.
Easy class overall. But his exams are too hard except for short answer portion. He's willing to answer any questions people have.I highly recommend him for Synthesis bio course for GE. Although he doesn't require textbooks, I recommend buying one in order to pass his class. Attendance is recommended for better understanding of course material.
His tests are not easy, but he does not throw anything in there that he does not talk about in lecture. He expects you to study a lot, but he makes the subject interesting! He is on of my favorite professors!
Great class, but his tests are killers! Fun teacher and is always willing to help students. You just need to keep on task and study for his tests.
Super Easy. Just Study. Also show up to class for free EC!!!
Great class. Great teacher. Tests are based on lectures so you don't need to waste money on the book. He makes himself available whenever you need it. Plenty of extra credit quizzes. Good sense of humor too. I looked forward to going to this class.
Awesome professor, very clear and interesting lectures. Tests only on power points covered in class.
Great professor! He's very helpful and teaches the material in an easy-to-understand way... just make sure you study his Powerpoints a lot otherwise the tests will kill you! Also, no textbook needed. You can either print out his lectures to take notes on or, as I did, bring your laptop to class and download his lectures from Blackboard.
His lectures are very interesting, but there is a lot of stuff to memorize. There is nothing on his exams that isn't on the powerpoint slides. So study those after every lecture and you should be fine.
I was super pleased by Prof. Iverson, he really cares about his students and encourages you to ask questions. The tests were a little hard for me but I actually did best on the semi-cumulative final. He makes this class fun and he has a way of capturing your attention. HE is the definition of a GOOD professor. You can tell he likes what he does.
Best teacher to ever have!
I'm a psychology major. I didn't expect much, but he turned out to be a GREAT professor. You don't need a textbook for his BIO 110 class. All you have to get an A in this class is to show up to class to take notes and read over the notes before the tests. His lectures are very fun and interesting. I wish psych department had a professor like him.
Very interesting lectures. His lectures helps a lot on the exams he tells which topic is super important and it will show up on the exam.
great teacher plus he is funny
Death by power point. Every lecture you will be required to print out power point slides and follow along for fill in the blanks. Don't miss class otherwise you'll have a power point, with half the words missing. Quizzes the class meeting before every exam. Show up and take good notes, easy A.
I took him for Human Sexuality, one of my favorite classes ever! He's knowledgeable and easily approachable. His lectures were really interesting, and he doesn't keep you until the last minute of class if he's done early. No textbook, a few short and easy quizzes, 2 papers you can work on with a partner, two midterms and a final.
Iverson is great. Take him if you can. Tests are not difficult but they cover almost everything in powerpoint. Not tests you can study the night before- need to be studying every week. Gives online quizes the day before the test and they questions are test questions so know them. no homework, very exciting, take him!
He is a great professor. He is funny, but also knows what he is talking about. He will answer any question you have, in great detail. His tests are easy as long as you show up to class and review after. If you cram you won't d well for tests. He lectures the whole time, and doesn't call out unless he really needs to, so be ready to be there.
The class is great. His one of the reason why I started to love Biology. He gives out test every 2 weeks in which studying is quite important. The lectures are informative and really in depth. The use of the learning center is hugely encourage. The teacher loves his job and is willing to help anyone who needs extra help in learning the subject.
He is an extremely nice guy who is passionate about what he does and cares about his students. His test are on the harder side, they are not just memorizing terms but understanding the material. He usually gives homework and extra credit quizzes before an exams to see where you stand. He will try his best to help you do your absolute best.
Had him for BIO 122 lecture. Students expected to show up to lecture w ppts he posted on blackboard printed out. the ppts have blanks that u fill in when he presents the material in class. ONLY tests material he's gone over in class/included in notes, so it's very fair. only 4 exams/quizzes/hw assignments. very clear at explaining concepts. 10/10
This teacher inspired me to continue my path in biological studies. His lectures are very interesting and informative. His exams are solely based on the powerpoint slides. Review all material and concepts covered in class and you'll definitely get good grades on his exams. He usually gives extra credit for his online quizzes which definitely helps!
Great class. teaches everything with PowerPoint with fill in the blanks. homework is only due before tests. If you're a great student who can listen to lectures and learn, he reads all the information you need
I took him for bio 121 and 122 , and wish I could take him for bio 123 ! mr. Iverson takes a real interest into his students and wants everyone to do well. he gives extra credit and gives great analogies in order to understand concepts.
Great professor! Go to class pay attention and take notes for an easy A! He offers quizzes and they are mostly extra credit. Study the notes for the exams because the questions are all from them. You dont need to use the book and theres no hw
I took this though for a GE and out of genuine interest in Sexuality. I enjoyed Iverson's class so much and wish I could take a class with him again! He's HILARIOUS & easy to understand. Outlines EVERYTHING for you so you know exactly what to study. Just write 2 SHORT interesting papers. He's so sweet. He genuinely cares about everyone's success.
Professor Iverson is one of my favorite professor at this school! He's extremely passionate about what he teaches and he WANTS his students to pass. I love his lectures because you have to physically fill out each slide (but u have to print the lecture out). This motivated me to work harder and overall I loved his class. TAKE HIM
Professor Iverson is the greatest professor I have ever had. His passion for biology shows in husband lectures and he is always willing to help students. His tests are slightly difficult, but fair. They are based off of lectures and notes. Simply study the notes and you will pass. He is also extremely handsome!
Easy A. quizlet. quizlet. Not a hard class at all. His lecture powerpoints were great for his quizzes and tests.
Iverson really is a fantastic professor! His lectures are very simple, easy to read and comprehend and he loved and encourages questions! It is important thought to go to every class session and STUDY. That unfortunately was my downfall but he really wants every student to pass!
Iverson is a good Professor! He is very passionate about his field and really contributes to the meaning of biology. I took him for microbiology and he really explained the material well. Good professor but this is not an easy A. His tests are tricky and will constantly have all of above. Avg on tests were 60s. Study well and youll be fine.
Iverson is definitely very lecture heavy. If you're not willing to study and pay attention this is not the class for you. He has fill in the blank notes which keep you engaged and he offers lots of other ways to get points with homework and extra credit. He's a genuinely nice guy and wants his students to learn.
Mr. Iverson is one of the best professors I have had. He knows what he is doing when it comes to lecturing, getting his concepts across, keeping his students awake, and having his students do well. Everything in his class is straight forward, if you study his fill in the blank lecture notes you will do amazing. I miss him.
Professor Iverson is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are clear and keep you involved because you have to bring a print out and fill in the blanks as he teaches. His tests aren't very difficult, but they require you memorizing and understanding every single lecture slide he covers, seriously. Quizzes are extra credit on BB
An amazing teacher in every aspect, one of the best professors I've ever taken. His tests are very hard though- the average is usually a D, but he gives a lot of extra credit. Took him for microbio and he's really enthusiastic about what he teaches and cares for his students. You have to work hard for a good grade in this class
I struggled with this class because I'm not great at Biology but Professor Iverson was very helpful. He does everything he can to help students and I would take him again if I had the chance. Exams are multiple choice and there are iclicker questions. Quizzes were extra credit and very few homework assignments.
Professor Iverson was extremely clear with his lectures. He definitely makes you work for your grade but he is a fair grader. Go to class and STUDY the material. Study and you'll get a good grade. He even lets you record lectures. Super nice guy with good drawings and examples when teaching. Need an iclicker but book isn't needed.
Understands the minds of being a college student and tries to explain using interesting scenarios. CONS: few points so every point counts. I found that his tests were exactly everything on the powerpoints but he does try to trick you by changing little details on the exam so be careful of that. Cool dude.
Iverson is honestly one of the best professors on campus. He is extremely clear about what he wants you to know and is very willing to help you during office hours. His lectures are content-heavy but he makes them worthwhile. Definitely attend class and study very hard in advance! His exams are very detailed so make sure you understand very well.
Amazing professor. He really cares that students understand the material and will take questions in lecture and office hours. 5 assignments, 5 quizzes right before the exam (may be extra cred, all extra cred for me), 5 non-cumulative exams (5th exam is the final, non-cumulative). Attendance optional, but exams are based on lecture powerpoints.
Mr. Iverson is a gem for the biology dpt @ CPP. He is an amazing professor and cares about his students learning experience. Its obvious he has a passion for what he teaches! Just make sure to keep up with notes and reading and youll do fine. He does offer extra credit opportunities.
Professor Iverson is hands down one of the best professors at CPP! He is really passionate towards the things that he teaches and wants his students to succeed. 4 midterms and 1 final. Some quizzes were extra credit! Does I-Clicker questions for attendance and mastering bio for hw. Exams are based off of the notes/slides from lecture.
Amazing prof! It's apparent that he loves Bio and his lectures really show that! Exams are no joke, they're very conceptual questions, so you HAVE to study if Biology doesn't come to you easily. Fair amount of hw, nothing crazy. If CPP goes online in the fall, he's one you want to take! Online or in person, he's a great prof!
Great professor. Incredibly clear course structure and gives you lecture slides with fill in the blanks. Exams contain exactly what was taught in lectures and he's a super nice guy with great energy.
By far the best professor I've ever had. He is so passionate about what he does and he legitimately cares about the education of his students; he WANTS you to succeed! Tests are a little tricky, but he provides helpful study guides and prep resources (like our LA, Ashley) prior to the exams. Assigned 25 homework modules, all through Mastering Bio.
I had to retake this class since I did not pass it during the semester. Tests are not something to be studied the night before, however on a daily basis though. Quizzes are mainly extra credit, and there is MasteringBio. The final is noncumulative. He is an amazing teacher and his lectures are very clear. Took this in the summer, expect fast paced.
One of the greatest professors I've ever taken. His tests rely heavily on lecture material - remember to study them often. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you may miss crucial explanations about the slides. Occasionally offers online quizzes as 5 (max) points of extra credit depending on how the class is doing. Very knowledgeable.
I didn't know he was going to make the class asynchronous. This was a really bad idea since microbio is a core class and all he did each week was post prerecorded hour long lectures on youtube. We had four exams, five homework assignments, and a noncumulative final. I'm currently struggling in the class. I feel very abandoned and alone. No EC.
This class was informative because of the current pandemic. This class helped me learn a little more about COVID.
I don't know how he has such positive reviews. The exams were overly difficult and not relevant to the homework or even the lectures sometimes. Lectures are really, really long. He's a tough grader to the point that I found bio1220 to be much easier than his class. Don't take him unless you are passionate about biology and already good at it.
Hes just okay. I took the class online so idk how he is in person but all he did was give us prerecorded lectures to watch. We had homework on another website that would take about 2 hours and there were 4 to 5 of those assignments for each section. 4 exams, 4 quizzes, and the corresponding hw. Again, not bad but not great either, just okay
lectures are too long and boring, tests are hard and long 65 questions and we have a bunch of midterms. he provides some extra credit, but the class is still really hard. it will take up a lot of your time to do good in this class
Don't know why anyone would give him a bad review. Currently taking his class and I have an A. Despite the class being asynchronous, he's more than happy to answer questions. This class does require a lot of time especially homework and watching lectures. Concepts are easy to grasp imo. Quizzes/exams are not bad if you pay attention to lectures.
Lecture materials are all online (youtube videos). 5 quizzes, assignments, and exams (5th exam: non-comprehensive final). Be prepared to rewatch the lectures and study hard. It's a lot of material, but he does his best to explain. Review the assignments, pay attention to his explanations in the videos, and fill out the incomplete slides on Bb.
Took Iverson over the Summer for Bio1210, glad I did. Course is straightforward and organized, but a LOT of material in just 5 weeks. Expect 1 test/week with pre-recorded lectures that are detailed, but easy to follow. Responds to emails quickly. If you put in the work, I recommend him, but if you're looking for an easy A, take somebody else.
He has two written paper, 5 quizzes, and 5 exams. Make sure to watch his lectures and fill out the PowerPoint slides he hands out. Quizzes and exams are taken from the PowerPoint. No need to buy or rent the textbook. For the two papers, as long as you complete it, he will give you full credits. Really easy professor and highly recommend!
One of the best Bio professors in the department. He is an incredible professor who explains everything very clearly. The class is very interesting, however, it is not an easy A. The key is to study daily to get a good grade and do not fall behind. He has many tests and quizzes, but the final is non-cumulative. I highly recommend taking Iverson!!!!
This was a class I thoroughly enjoyed. The format and pace were something I could keep up with and the lectures were easy to follow along with. One thing that I appreciated is he sends email reminders before the due dates of each quiz and exam. 5 exams and 5 quizzes, if you go through the lecture notes you should do fine. Book not needed.
The class was easy, definitely a class if you do all the work you will receive an A. He does a lecture on every chapter. Hes pretty funny, the videos were very entertaining. He provides presentations that serve as notes for the exams and quizzes. If you study the presentations youre sure to pass the test. He gives good feedback and reminders.
Class was taken in person. The overall class is not too difficult if you just study and pay attention during his lectures. He has 5 exams during the course of a semester, with each exam having 65 multiple choice questions. He has assignments prior to each exam that cover exam related questions and quizzes worth very few points.
His lectures are easy to follow and he provided fill in the blank powerpoints. Mainly memorization and as long as you go to class it will be an easy A. Also super pleasant to talk to overalll
Lectures very well and is easy to understand - if you don't understand a topic he has no problem explaining it again. Exams every two weeks so you really can't miss class but overall is a great professor and very fair
Your average prof. He does his job well, but if you don't understand the material the first time, you need to put in the time to study. Must buy Pearson for homework, not too bad. 5 exams in total. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the professor. You need to put time into this class if you are unfamiliar with the material.
It's not the professor that's hard, but it's the actual material. There is no easy way to teach micro, but his method and attitude of teaching is the best you could get. Very passionate about the class. To pass, you NEED to study. Most can pass by just reviewing the slides, but you need to be there to fill it in or get it from someone else.
Iverson is a great professor, very passionate abt the material, always willing to help, and just overall a good lecturer BUT the reason I say I wouldnt take him again is bc his tests are very difficult. he covers a ton of material in what feels like no time. Theres a midterm every 2 weeks which seems like the material wouldnt build up but its a LOT
In my opinion, he is the best Professor CPP could have! His lectures are straightforward, funny, and substantial. I learned a lot from his class. quizzes and exams are short and easy (based solely on his lectures)
Prof Iverson gives good lectures that are very in-depth and tells you exactly what some of the questions and answers will be on the exam. There are only 3 exams though and each with 4 chapters so it is a lot of reading but everything on the test is directly from his notes and the homework so it is very doable. He is also very kind and helpful.
Professor Iverson is one of the best professors I have seen here at CPP. He gives out tons of lectures and he makes the material easy to understand while taking notes that he made to follow! Very kind and responds almost within 2 hours or less! He is an EASY A if you do the lectures! He seems to want us to use the lectures on exams. Overall great!
Very easy class. We never met because the class was fully asynchronous but he seemed super nice is his prerecorded lectures. Basically just homework which consists of a few assignments and lecture notes (fill in the blanks on PPTs). Easy A if you do the work.
Very hard class, and he speeds through it quite a bit. You need to dedicate a lot of time, to pass this class. There are a few 65 question tests, and your grade basically relies on how you do on those. The homework takes forever and is only 10 points total for the 4-6 assignments. Only take if you have can dedicate lots of time
Seriously the most manageable bio class i've ever taken. Its fully asynchronous so you only have to do 2-3 assignments and submit by the due date and take a quiz/exam every couple of weeks. You get the notes from watching pre-recorded lectures. Material is super interesting as well and he's fast with emails. Definitely recommend!!
Listen I'm not a bio major but this guy is pretty hard he's very straightforward. There is ALOT of material to cover for each test however, if you do good on the assignments and the quizzes you'll be okay -overall great teacher but the stuff he's teaching is tough!!! tip: GO TO OffICE HOURS fOR ANYTHING!!!!! (and I NEVER go to office hours tough
Truthfully Iverson's class was one of the more difficult classes I have taken so far, only because he covers so much for his exams. He's a great professor and a nice guy, but I would not like to take his class again.
I enjoyed Professor Iverson's class. He was very fair about his exams and his grading. I think as long as you go to the lectures, review, and study, you should be just fine. My grade could've been better if I set a little more time aside to study, so if you're really good about that, you should be fine. Super nice and genuinely wants you to learn!
Great guy. Tests are honestly straight from the notes (tests are given every ~4 chapters). If you attend the study sessions you'll be fine. Study guides were really long but somewhat useful (not mandatory)
The majority of the class consisted of quizzes and exams that were based on his lectures (they were fill-in-the-blank so be sure to actually do them). Luckily every quiz and exam question was straight from the notes so as long as you had them ready, this class is easy (and interesting).
Seems really nice but do not be fooled. He doesn't make any exceptions even when the teachers are on strike and you cannot get things resolved. Intolerant and doesn't care whether you pass or fail. Just teach yourself off of his YouTube videos and don't ever have any issues.
His class is mandatory online, so he provides his course lectures through his YouTube videos. 5 examines, 2 papers without any curves or extra credits. Each exam will cover 4-5 chapters so ensure you take notes and understand clearly each chapter. He is strict on grading so no negotiation or discussion to ask him to curve your grades. Heavy course
Amazing professor! His lectures were detailed and informative, and his jokes made them much more immersive. The assignments were mainly watching lectures and reading the book, although the book wasn't mandatory. I did not purchase it and understood the concepts well enough. Quizzes based on the lectures and 2 easy papers in all. Would take again!!
Very lecture heavy, but manageable. 5 exams total (given 3 days to take it), 2 papers, a documentary q&a assignment, and a couple of quizzes. Honestly easy A class, just might be a little time consuming.
Lectures are on YouTube and are clear and to the point of what needs to be covered. Great at communication so please reach out! Make sure to have him check your article to make sure it qualifies (essays 1&2). Every is online including the exams which is what your are graded on mainly, no real homework other than the lectures/lecture notes!
Take this class! Super lecture heavy and you do have to show up to do small in class quizzes for credit (1-3 multiple choice) and he gives out notes "fill in the blank" style. Tests are very fair, the goal objectives at the beginning of each chapter are such a great study guide. He is very fair, strict grader but he's not mean about it. Very kind
Lecture videos on YouTube, an exam for each module (all multiple choice and on Canvas). Two research review papers, but he let's you choose any paper that pertains to human sexuality. His lectures are funny and interesting. A fun and easy GE class that I learned a lot from.
